Akbar Research Paper
The Mughal dynasty was established by a man named Babur who ruled over the state of Hindustan
(India). As a youth, Babur, a prince of the house of Timur, was unable to maintain his sovereignty over
the small Central Asian state bequeathed to him by his father (Source?). Instead, he turned his
attention to the southeast, where he occupied Kabul in 1504, and almost immediately embarked on his
conquest of India (Source?). By 1527, Babur had defeated both the forces of the Lodi sultan and those
of the Hindu confederacy (Source?). However, at the time of his death, in 1530, he had not yet
transformed his territorial acquisitions into an empire (Source?). This task was left to his son
Humayun, who lacked the military genius of his father and soon forfeited the Mughal foothold in
India (Source?). Only through Persian military intervention did he manage to regain the capital cities
of Agra and Delhi in 1555; however, Humayun s son Akbar was credited with the real foundation of
the Mughal Empire (Source?).
During his reign from 1556 to 1605, Akbar established dominion over northern and central India, as
far east as Bengal. He secured the northwestern frontier, which served as a gateway to India for so
many previous invasions. Akbar s most important territorial gain was the sultanate of Gujarat, in the
west, which provided the Mughal empire with enormous wealth from its commercial centers, and
access to the Arabian Sea. This presented an opportunity for lucrative trade with both

Essay on Massachusetts Bay Colony
The government of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was simultaneously theocratic, democratic,
oligarchic, and authoritarian in different ways. The Puritans founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony in
1628 and wanted a well established government, but they ended up mixing all of these together. This
colony was important because it was one of the first provincial and true governments to be introduced
into the colonies. It also provided an example to other colonies to base their governments on.
The Massachusetts Bay Colony can be said to have been partly theocratic based on a couple of
reasons. For example, the Puritans believed that they had a covenant with God to build a society that
would be a model for humankind. This shows partly theocracy ... Show more content on

This control from a small group of people may have been what the people thought was the right thing
to do at the time, but it was somewhat why they had come to the New World in the first place was to
get rid of a single person ruling everyone.
Last but not least the government of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was partly authoritarian for many
reasons. The colony favored a strict set of rules and taxes and stuck to them. This shows the
authoritarian government. The Governor set the taxes and laws based on the will of the church and
what was the right thing to do. They even had strict rules about kissing in public, and various other
inappropriate things considered to be wrong by the church. Some states were nicknamed after the
color of the paper that the laws were printed on. The irony of this is that the people wanted to live an
easier life with more freedom from the government and religion, but then proceeded to promote and
carry out repressive laws such as kissing in public.
As you can see the Massachusetts Bay Colony was very diverse in its form of government and how
the colony was run. Some people say it consists of a mix of all of these forms of governments
(theocracy, democracy, oligarchy, and authoritarian) when in fact the government was one of a kind
and very influential to other colonies. It helped other colonies because it helped them decided to take
bits and pieces of

Examples Of Discrimination In A Fine Balance
Caste Discrimination in Politics
In A Fine Balance, Mistry investigates the subaltern status of the Dalits and the impact of
untouchability on politics. At that point, Mistry highlights the cruelty of political issues in this novel.
Judith Fetterley expounds the power in politics: Power is the issue in the politics of literature, as it is
in the politics of anything else. To be excluded from a literature , that claims to define one s identity is
to experience a peculiar form of powerlessness (492).
He also investigates the injustice of caste, and tests the ramifications of opposing it. While Narayan
picks political resistance, Om and Ishvar experience the ill effects of escape and outcast. Mistry
appears to allude to the defect in Hinduism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her father was a doctor; however he passed away when she was just twelve years of age. Her mother
was pulled back and not able to take off with Dina after her father s death. Presently her brother
Nussawan is at home for him. But, Nussawan does not carry on well with Dina and misuses her too.
He compels her to do family household work, cooking, cleaning, what not. He bans her school going
and hits her when she misbehaves. He is, once, very nearly attacking her since she gets her hair style
without his permission. Dina opposes Nussawan, his brother and his brother s imminent suitors for her
when she grows young. She discovers her own significant other, Rustom Dalal herself at a theater.
Nussawan and his wife Ruby were glad to dispose of Dina when she weds with Rustom so that now
she will move into his flat. Dina and Rustom are likewise glad after marriage; however, their
satisfaction is brief and simply following three years of her marriage, one day Rustom kicks the

make a decent living, she turns into a tailor under the guidance of Rustom s surrogate parents. In any

Types Of Magazine Clipping
One category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was famous people. The first clipping in
this category is Barack Obama. This picture is very important because he was our President and leader
of the U.S. for eight years in a row. The next magazine clipping is a U.S soldier. He is important
because he part of a group that fights and protects our country and our freedom. Another clipping is a
picture of Vic Beasley. He s important because he use to play for the Clemson Tigers a while back and
that was the team that won the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship game. The last
magazine clipping is an Alabama football player. This picture is meaningful because this team was in
the National Championship game against the Clemson Tigers and they lost by 4 points. Another
category of magazine clippings that I chose to include was objects. The first part of this category is
things that resemble more of the american freedom like a pocket knife, american flag, guns, peace
corp badge, and the Democratic donkey and Republican elephant. These objects are important because
they all have to do with american freedom whether it be protecting the country, having your own
beliefs, and just having peace. The next part of this category is things that people spend money on like
a cubs hat, iphone 5s, electronic cigarettes, and Christmas wrapping paper. These kinds of objects are

Symbolism In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market
Goblin Market tells the story of two devoted young sisters, Laura and Lizzie. Goblin men curse one
sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the goblin men to save her sister
from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina Rossetti employs a significant amount of
symbolism in her work, Goblin Market. Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie,
goblin men, and money.
First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin men advertise the
fruits they are selling:
Come buy our orchard fruits,
Come buy, come buy:
Apples and quinces,
Lemons and oranges,
Plump unpecked cherries,
Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8)
Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. She sucked and sucked and sucked
the more/ Fruits which that unknown orchard bore;/ She sucked until her lips were sore (Rossetti 134
136). I believe that the fruit is a symbol for sin. Laura knows that she should not be indulging in the
forbidden fruit, but her desire for the fruit prevails over her caution of the goblin men (Rossetti 69
106). Lizzie warns her from listening to the goblin men (Rossetti lines 48 49). Just as Eve in the Bible
eats the forbidden fruit, Laura eats the fruit as well. Eve becomes cursed because she eats the
forbidden fruit, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You have much gold upon your head, / They answered all together:/ Buy from us with a golden curl
(Rossetti 123 125). I believe that the money is a symbol for a loss of innocence. Once she pays for the
fruit and consumes it, she becomes sick (Rossetti 293 298). When Laura goes to save her sister, she
offers the goblin men a coin; however, they do not take it because she does not want to buy the fruit
willingly (Rossetti

The Parliamentary System And The Presidential System
Depending on the principles the state has adopted, the political system tends to focus on one of the
two main governing systems, the parliamentary system or the presidential system. A governing body is
significantly important in order to achieve legitimate power and authority to implement rules and
maintain solidarity in a political community. The parliamentary system also known as the Westminster
system was established in the United Kingdom in which, many countries including Australia,
Germany, Italy, Spain and Canada has modelled this system. On the other hand, the presidential
system also called the congressional system was developed in the United States and enforced in
countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi and all countries in Central and
South America. It is inevitable for the two systems to have shared features as well as opposing aspects
which allows us to identify the strengths and weaknesses within the systems. The distinctive qualities
between the parliamentary system and the presidential system emphasizes the unique characteristics in
each system. Firstly, the parliamentary system acts on a dual executive role while the presidential
system focuses on a single executive power role. States with dual executive roles tends to have a
joined up governance where the power is shared between the head of government the prime minister
and the head of state the governor general. Within the executive branch, the cabinet appointed

Advantages Of Qualitative Research
5 Qualitative Research
5.1 Methodology
As the aim of the research is to identify the relationship between the CSR and the brand trust, focus
group would be the most appropriate approach to collect a diverse range of individuals opinions in a
short time (Rabiee, 2007). Moreover, Focus group would encourage participants to communicate with
each other, which would generate more data which cannot be collected by one to one depth interview,
this could be termed as the group effect (Carey Smith 1994). Morgan Krueger (1993) also point out
that focus group would observe the participants attitude about the social problems.
The objective of qualitative research is to collect the individuals views and support the quantitative
research design. The focus group is considered as a technique, which implements the depth group
interview to collect the data and evaluate the identified variables are relevant for the study (Rabiee,
2007). Richardson Rabiee (2001) argue that participants should be selected according to the following
criteria: First, they have the relevant life experiences and have something to state on the topic. Second,
it would be better that they are not fearful of expressing the opinions among the participants. Third,
they could feel comfortable communicating with each other.
To collect more valuable data, the focus group was divided into two groups, each group has 5
participants. They were conducted in one of the group members flat on 1st November and 2nd

The Film And The Band Played On The Aids Crisis
The film And the Band Played On illustrates the AIDS crisis in the 1980s. In 1981, Dr. Don Francis
notices an increase in deaths due to an illness among gay men in cities. As the number of deaths
rapidly grows, Dr. Francis is forced to do his work with little money and outdated equipment as he
tries to find possible causes of this rapidly spreading disease. Doctors, the Center for Disease Control,
and citizens try to figure out if the disease is spread sexually, through blood or bodily secretions. The
film And the Band Played On shows the reaction from the government, the Center for Disease
Control, and normal citizens of the United States when this mysterious disease emerges. For example,
in 1985 hysteria broke out across Queens when the New York City Board of Education announced that
children with AIDS could attend public schools with healthy children. Parents protested against this in
fears their children may contract this deadly disease with no known cause. Parents believed that their
parental instinct and community control should trump what little known information about the disease
that the NYC Board of Education was using. This event is described in Jennifer Brier s article Save
Our Kids, Keep AIDS Out : Anti AIDS Activism and the Legacy of Community Control in Queens,
New York . At the end of this article and the film, citizens gain a better understanding for this disease
and how it is transmitted. As hysteria broke out in Districts 27 and 29 of Queens, parents

She Walks In Beauty
Lord Byron in She Walks in Beauty tries to explain the beauty of a woman, the speaker is
overwhelmed with her beauty, and struggles to explain her amazing beauty. He starts by saying, She
walks in beauty, like the night / Of cloudless climes and starry skies (1 2). By saying the she walk in
beauty, the speaker is saying that everything about her is beautiful, and she does not just have a pretty
face, but it s her whole living self that makes her beautiful. Women are not normal compared to the
night; night is usually a symbol of evil and darkness. Comparing her to the night makes her beauty
different, and mysterious. The speaker also say that it is clear night, symbolizing the women s
complexion. This could also symbolize the women s personality, showing that she is fair, and honest.
The stars are a metaphor for light, and it reveals the darkness of the night. Darkness and light are
equally balanced in this situation, the women is the perfect amount of both, creating a harmony

He says Where thoughts serenely sweet express / How pure, how dear their dwelling place (11 12).
The speaker thinks that her sweet and lovely expression on her face represents what is happening
inside her head. The sweetness of her exterior demonstrates the innocent and pureness of her interior.
The speaker s diction also tells the reader that he sees the women as precious. and valuable. The
women s worth is not just beauty, but intellectual, the context of her mind is important to the speaker,
and he believes that she has something worth saying. The metaphor and diction shows the speaker s

My Journey For My Life
My college applications were complete and I was on top of the world. My father couldn t be more
proud of my accomplishment. His face beamed with excitement as he enthusiastically told all of his
friends, colleagues, and family that I was about to transfer to a university. The rejoicing didn t last
long, and came to an abrupt halt when I witnessed my father having a seizure and collapsing. He was
diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor that week and passed away the following summer, causing
my life to take a drastic turn. Since my father was the only person I relied on, his passing had a major
impact on my life. Yet, the hardships subsequent to his passing played a powerful role in the person I
have become and fuel my pursuit of becoming an attorney. My journey begins long before I was born
and began when my parents were Iranian refugees and escaped the persecution that ensued after the
Islamic Revolution of 1979. The political turmoil led my parents to leave their family and possessions
behind as they sought to provide a better life for their three children in America. Along their journey to
the United States, I was born. After years of strenuous travels, my parents arrived in Los Angeles in
February of 1989. Shortly after arriving, my parents decided to get a divorce. My mother remarried,
and I gravitated towards my father. He embraced me with open arms of love, and told me nothing had
changed. At that point it was clear that my father was my hero. My father supported me

The Importance Of Western Culture And Punjabi Culture
A constant struggle of incorporating western mentality and remaining true to my Punjabi culture has
been at the root of many dilemmas throughout my life and has caused me to engender my own set of
values, which reflect a unique blend of western culture and Punjabi culture. As a future marriage and
family therapist who will be assessing a diverse population, I foresee this amalgamation becoming an
issue when I receive clients who come from a similar background and have a certain expectation of
what I should say, or when I receive clients who come from a different background and have different
values than I do. If one is not consciously aware of these values and biases, then it is very likely that
these concerns will impede the therapeutic relationship and the work of the therapist. For instance,
Punjabi culture emphasizes parents sacrificing their own happiness for their children s happiness,
which can be seen via parents not getting a divorce for a child s happiness. I have seen the latter occur
many times, even in instances where the parents cannot stand one another. Growing up I understood
this mentality, because I had witnessed my American friends going through turmoil when finding out
their parents were getting a divorce. At the time, I believed that the parents were selfish, that they were
not considering what this would do to their child. Additionally, my family had also pushed forth this
value in our home, even in instances where my aunts were living with alcoholic

How Did Shakespeare Attack On Sydney Harbour
Attack on Sydney Harbour The threat of a Japanese invasion was thought to be imminent for Australia
after the fall of Singapore. Darwin had been crippled by a series of Japanese air raids. In May 1942,
Japanese Midget submarines were spotted in Sydney Harbour, posing a direct threat of attack or
invasion. The presence of Japanese submarines in Sydney Harbour caused alarm in the residents of
Sydney and the Australian defence forces. Again, Australia was unprepared to defend against Japanese

The Effect of Drugs, Toxins, and Other Molecules on...
The effect of drugs, toxins, and other molecules on synapse and synapse transmission.
The synapse is the small gap separating two neurons, the presynaptic neuron (neuron that carries the
impulse to the synapse,) and postsynaptic neuron (neuron that carries the impulse away from the
synapse.) It separates the axon terminals of the presynaptic neuron from the postsynaptic neuron. The
synapse is made of three major parts: a presynaptic neuron, a postsynaptic neuron, and a synaptic
cleft. The presynaptic neuron contains the neurotransmitters, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum,
and other cell organelles. The postsynaptic neuron contains receptor sites for the neurotransmitters in
the presynaptic neuron. The synaptic cleft is the space ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The series of EPSPs added together is the process of summation. If the threshold is reached, then an
action potential is generated. There is a synaptic delay within the arrival of stimuli at the presynaptic
knob and the result of the stimuli on the postsynaptic membrane. This delay is about 0.2 to 0.5
milliseconds long. The synaptic delay is a result of the increased concentration of calcium ions and the
release of the ACh.
Step 4: Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) breaks down all of the ACh in the synaptic cleft and removes it
from the postsynaptic ending. The AChE does this by hydrolyzing the ACh molecules into acetate and
choline. The presynaptic knob then absorbs the choline from the synaptic cleft. The choline molecules
are used to remake ACh. When ACh molecules are recycled, the recycling and transport mechanisms
may not be able to keep up with the neurotransmitter. This results in synaptic fatigue, where the
synapse is inactive until ACh is replenished.
Above is an explanation about the synapse and the transmission of synapse, below is the description of
the effects of drugs and toxins on synaptic transmissions. Most drugs that affect the nervous system do
so by influencing the transmission of nerve impulses across synapse. Drugs may affect the release of
the neuron transmitter; others modify the effect that the neurotransmitters have on the postsynaptic
membrane.
Medical drugs have different effects on synapses and the nervous system

The Pros And Methods Of Recidivism
As a nation that constantly strives to progress, there is a consensus that those who commit unlawful
behavior should be sent to correctional institutions, yet the United States government fails to question
whether their traditional prison system legitimately works. One method scholars utilize to measure a
nation s public safety and criminal justice effectiveness is by analyzing the recidivism rate, which is
defined by the National Institute of Justice as the number of released inmates that return to crime
within three years. According to sociologist Victor L Shammas, for every 100,000 people in the
United States, there are 707 incarcerated, with over 75% released relapsing back into crime. The way
minor criminals are stripped of opportunities within society following their release turns them to
harder crime, which transforms into a viscous cycle. It appears that Norway has found the correct
formula for breaking this cycle, a nation in which for every 100,000 people, only 75 are imprisoned,
and only 20% released relapse into crime. The 2016 Legatum Prosperity Index rated Norway as the
sixth safest country globally, and the United States as the fifty second, clearly demonstrating that the
United States government needs to reform its prison policy. Norway s method of imprisoning a
significant portion of offenders into minimum security prisons decreases the crime rate through
implementation of educational and occupational rehabilitation programs and quality healthcare during

Globalization is often cited as a harbinger of income equality. We are currently in the midst of what is

at much more massive scale than the first wave and at a much more rapid pace. That being said,
official statistics show that income inequality has risen spectacularly as measured by official statistics,
indicating a correlation between globalization and income inequality. However, there are strong
arguments that the official statistics are not reflective of the entire truth of the matter. In a paper on

is that trade agreements make sense for the U.S. from an economic perspective. This argument has a
few components, which Lawrence Summers covers in a piece in the Financial Times. Firstly, because
the United States has low trade barriers, it will not have to reduce barriers as much as its trading
partner most of the time. This is a great deal because it means that the U.S. is benefitting more from
the trade agreements because we gain increase access to trade with their markets with minimal
changes on the part of the U.S. Secondly, the U.S. is in competition with other major economic
powers right now, and the U.S. would be at a disadvantage if our economic rivals are continuing to
develop trade agreements and production line integration in developing countries. In this sense,
globalization makes economic sense for the U.S. Bill Clinton, flawed though he may be, got it right
when he said the United States must compete not retreat. And of course, from a classical economic
perspective, the U.S. takes advantage of gains available from comparative advantage in a globalized

(Lewis, 2007). JetBlue uses a targeted selection process. When JetBlue began its hiring, recruiters
looked for applicants who displayed integrity, as well as, showed traits consistent with its core values
of safety, caring, integrity, fun, and passion. The interview process for both mechanics and pilots are
built on these core values to ensure the right cultural fit. During the interview process, applicants are
asked to recall incidents from previous jobs and describe how the situation was handled along with the
consequences of the actions. JetBlue hired applicants who did not compromise on the safety of
passengers such as a mechanic who did not certify an aircraft because it did not comply with safety
standards. JetBlue hired this mechanic because his attitude fit with the standards set forth by JetBlue.
On the other hand, a pilot who was arrogant was refused employment. In pilot recruitment, pilots are
required to be computer savvy, but they also need to fit the culture of the airline. The company
covered the cost of pilot training, unlike other airline carriers, therefore, the aspect of being a cultural

The Final Stage Of Management Design
Control is the final stage of management design, making sure the specific goals and objectives of the
team is met by all those who are placed within the organization to complete specific task. It is at this
stage that all members must perform the work that is within the organizations scope of business.
Controls can be strong and visible, such as are needed in a maximum security prison, or they can be
more relaxed and invisible, such as are needed in a group of volunteers working at the local food
bank. The four steps in the process of control in the Mainstream and Multistream managerial
processes according to Nuebert Dyck 2010 are Establishing Performance Standards, Monitoring
Performance, Evaluating Performance, and Responding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This process is helpful in identifying needed changes in the input and conversion stage to maintain
quality products Mainstream managers are interested in high quality products at the lowest
productivity cost possible while maintaining good relations and organizational wealth (Nuebert Dyck

performance standards. Multistream process standards are used not targets like the Mainstream
manager. The Mulitistream manager uses the information system to help enhance, process, share, and
self monitor the dada. Rather than use a Top down approach the Multisystem manager is going to
expect that other help in these processes rather than have it trickle down hill effect and emphasizes
balancing multiple forms of well being for multiple stakeholders (Nuebert Dyck 2010). Nuebert Dyck
in 2010 describe the Multistream approach to the four step control process as looking at and
establishing standards in the value chains rather than value loops. The goal is to incorporate all
stakeholders goals however much of the time they are able to foresee potential delinks and the
potential un connectivity of those chains (p556). The Mainstream focus on controlling their employee
from top to bottom, the Multistream organizations focus on creating a system that allows the
stakeholders to

Genesis Chapter three is crucial chapter in scripture; through this chapter we have a tendency to or

hard? Is there any hope? We have a tendency to learn the planet that we have a tendency to occupy,

separated from God its creator. This chapter helps explain these questions to us. In the third chapter,

strategies taken by an organization to maintain quality of products and services as well as increasing
capacity without sacrificing the quality in this report. As operation management is the management

The Ever Changing Life And World We Live
The Ever Changing Life and World we Live in Gaven D. Crosby Pennsylvania College of Technology
You are dying! As we speak, we are all dying! You may die in an hour, maybe a decade or more. How
do we know? The answer is that we don t. We don t know what life has in store for us. Today I am in
the United States, safe; a week from now I could be in Syria. No one can be absolutely sure what is
going to happen to us. The reason for this is because of the ever changing world we live in. A perfect
example of this is in The Story of An Hour. In the story, the main character goes from being miserably
married to being happily single, then to married again and eventually dead; all in one day. I would say
that her life changed quite a bit in a small amount of time. Wouldn t you say the same? The story also
says that after she found out her husband was deceased, she whispered, Free, free, free. See, back in
the 1800s and early 1900s, a woman s entire life was ruled and dictated by her husband. A woman s
husband worked to earn all of the money they had, the husband built their house, and he had the last
say on every matter. You see, the point is that Mrs. Mallard wasn t herself while she was married. She
was Mrs. Brently Mallard. But once her husband, Brently, died she was free. Free to be herself and do
whatever Louise wanted; it was a new and great world for her to explore. A world where she was in
charge of herself and she could make her own decisions. Her

Cultural Change Of The Vietnam War
As America was fighting a war for freedom in another country, unruly teens were fighting their own at
home. Cultural change, the explosion of free love, youthful rebellion, and a new liberal mindset all
seemed to have one underlying device in common; drug use. The late 1960 s into the early and mid 70
s found the perfect environment for recreational drug use. Music and arts celebrated this lifestyle, as
well as free thinkers and their idiotic philosophies about spiritual elation through mind altering
narcotics. Lack of family structure with so many homes transformed by the Vietnam War also left
young teens without guidance, and an economy with little to offer to the up and coming generation. As
the next few years passed and the free love generation began to grasp the concept of working for a
living, showering on a regular basis, love with commitment (or antibiotics), and cultural change
through policy, they brought to the workforce a new dynamic not previously prevalent. Recreational
drug use had become part of society. Vietnam War veterans also brought their own demons home with
their return, opiate addictions were a common occurrence (Carson 2012).
This new dynamic was seen initially in 1971 by the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse
(NHSDA) spearheaded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The survey indicated that many
illegal drug users were employed full or part time. The initial survey was used to try and understand
the scope of the problem,

Beauty In America Research Paper
Just because the definition of beauty in America is to be like a Barbie: tall, slender, and gorgeous, does
not mean that is the same definition in other countries. To be called beautiful in Thailand, one must
have light, fair skin to be labeled as an attractive individual. Instead of spending money on tanning
products like Americans do, Thais spend money on products that have whitening agents in them such
as lemon juice (Magnesi). In Japan, a person who is considered beautiful has a clear, smooth
complexion and stick straight hair (Magnesi). Japanese women that have wavy, or curly hair that
straight haired Americans long for, straighten their hair by whatever means necessary (Magnesi).

Throughout history, the way one defined beauty has changed. In the renaissance, women that were
curvy, and fleshy were considered to be the most attractive. Paintings from the renaissance show
women that would now be considered overweight in our time, but at that time they were considered
the epitome of sexy (CITE). Also, in the renaissance, women believed the lighter the hair, the better.
They strived for a pale face, and deep red lips (CITE). However, the women of the Victorian era were
much different than the renaissance women. They were very conscious about their bodies, and beauty
meant having the smallest waistline humanly possible (CITE). To achieve this small waistline, women
wore corsets. Their corsets were so tight that women could barely breathe, and sitting down was out of
the question (Cite). As for makeup in the Victorian era, only high class women were expected to wear
makeup sparingly. Bold colors were considered to be uncouth, and reserved for prostitutes (cite). In
the 1920 s instead of tight corsets to show off their curves, women wore loose dresses, and some even
bound their chests with a cloth to achieve a boyish look (cite). Going

Similarities Between Proctor And Gamble And Unilever
Proctor and Gamble vs. Unilever Over the past decades creating corporate social responsibility has
become very important to companies in order to compete in their industries. It has become obvious to
the public that corporations have so much power in society; so corporations efforts to improve society
has become a necessity to many consumers. Corporate social responsibility is defined in our textbook
as, a business concern for society s welfare (Lamb, Hair, McDaniel 2017). When taking a look at
Proctor and Gamble and Unilever s goals to create stronger corporate social responsibility in society I
have identified a few major similarities and differences. First we will talk about a few of the
similarities that have been identified in these company s plans. One similarity shared between these
company s plans is their focus on Gender inclusiveness. Unilever s goal is to empower 5 million
women by 2020, while P G is also focusing on empowering women in many ways. One of the ways is
by promoting work for women within the firm, in India they claim to have 30% of their plant
workforce being women. Another similarity can be seen in their focus on enhancing lives through out
the world. A Forbes article about Unilever outlined that, the washing brand Persil has helped 10m
children get an education whilst cleaning bleach Domestos has helped 5m people gain access to toilets
(Feller 2016). P G has also shown is commitment to improving lives by teaming up with Habitats for
Humanity to provide shelter for low income families. According to Habitats website, Nearly 2,000 P G
employees have built, repaired or cleaned homes with 12,000 families (Proctor and Gamble 2015).
The last similarity that I have found is both companies have set their goals for 2020 and have tracked
their progress over the years. Unilever has focused on its three main goals and have further divided
these goals into 50 goals in order to track their progress. P G has done a similar thing by creating sub
goals within each of their four major goals. Both company s track and reported yearly progress for
each of these goals.
There are a few major differences between P G s and Unilever s plans. First off Unilever focus more
on differences the consumer of

Brittle Starfish Essay
The Life of a Brittle Starfish
The type of marine organism, which will be reported on within the following text, is the Brittle Stars.
The Brittle Star is also called the serpent star and a common name for a large group of echinoderms
closely related to the starfish. These organisms make up the class Ophiuroidea; another common name
for ophiuroidea is snake stars. These organisms can be found in all oceans but are more abundant in
the Tropics. Brittle stars can come in different colors.
2.0 General Features
Their bodies have a central disk that is demarcated from five arms, unlike true starfish. Their five arms
can be broken off quite easily, but will regenerate themselves. These arms are usually forked and
spiny. The brittle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also have a skeleton composed of numerous plates of calcium carbonate.
2.1 Stereom
The plates that compose brittle starfish, ophiuroids and echinoderms is calcite along with other
organics. Though each plate is a single crystal of calcite, it doesn t take a typical crystalline form.
Below is a picture of the tooth socket, notice the holes.
2.2 Water Vascular System
Perhaps not as obvious is the water vascular system, another trait common to all echinoderms. By
examining the oral underside side of a brittle star, one will be able to see hundreds of tiny feet usually
arranged into several rows on each appendage of the star. These are the tube feet, or podia, and are
filled with seawater in brittle stars. The water vascular system within the body of this species is also
filled with seawater. By expanding and contracting chambers within the water vascular system, the
brittle star can force water into certain tube feet to extend them. The animal has muscles in the tube
feet, which are used to retract them. By expanding and retracting the right tube feet in the proper
order, the creature can walk. Many echinoderms can also form suckers on the ends of their tube feet.
These suckers can be used to capture and hold prey, or to hold onto rocks in a swift current or tide.
3.0 Habitat
Brittle stars can be found in the warmest and coldest of the world s seas and have a broad geographic
range. Brittle stars can be found at various depths of the

The Assault By Harry Mulisch Essay
In The Assault by Harry Mulisch, the themes of guilt and innocence are highly prevalent throughout
its storyline and are more often than not related to each other. In these situations, Mulisch employs his
diverse cast of characters, their motives, and their fates to intertwine these themes and create a morally
ambiguous political thriller that leaves the audience unsure of a definite resolution. The first set of
characters Mulisch employs is the Ploeg family. When Fake Ploeg is murdered in the beginning of the
novel, Anton recalls him as being the greatest murderer and traitor in Haarlem (Mulisch 17),
immediately informing the audience that he was intensely disliked among his community. Later, the
reader learns that he was a Nazi collaborator ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Toward the end of the novel, Anton s final encounter relating to the night of the assault is with his old
neighbor, Karin Korteweg. After questioning her about why she and her father chose to place the body
in front of his house as opposed to the other neighbors, such as the Aarteses, she replied that her father
had said, No, not there. They re hiding Jews! (Mulisch 183). This astonishes both the audience and
Anton by providing the final piece to the puzzle they have been trying to solve over the course of this
novel. With this revelation, Mulisch also applies the themes of innocence and guilt by exhibiting how
these characters were arguably at fault for the death of Anton s family without actively participating,
and by being in danger, those three people had unknowingly saved themselves and the lives of two
others (184). Mulisch leaves Anton pondering if everyone [was] both guilty and not guilty? Was guilt
innocent and innocence guilty? (184) to inspire an internal debate within the reader while leaving him
or her with a vague and unresolved conclusion to the novel to finalize his application of linking the
themes of guilt and

Chivalry In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
Chivalry In medieval romances there is a hero knight, this hero knight prides himself on being
chivalrous. Chivalry is the overall code of being respectful, religious, and morally right. Some believe
chivalry is dead in our society, but I believe it has just been evolved for modern day life. In Sir
Gawain and the Green Knight , the author pokes fun at the court s values of chivalry. During the
second half of the 14th century, when the story takes place, chivalry dictates their ranks and their
everyday life. Chivalry in the 14th century was based on religion and honoring everyone. A knight that
is chivalrous would be religious, protect the weak and defenseless, to live by honer and for glory, to
guard the honor of all other knights, to always tell the truth and to be respectful of women. The Green
knight takes three swings at Sir Gawain, the first because the knight was of Lighthearted sport (line
324), this meant that he was only swinging because of their deal. The second swing was for the two
kisses he received from the green knight s wife. He received the third and final stroke because he did
not give the Lord the last gift, the sash. This sash made it so whoever was wearing could not be killed
under any circumstance. This is how the green knight could walk off just fine after getting his head
chopped off. After the third stroke the green knight said to sir gawain: So Gawain indeed stands out

The boy then took the first step in. As he treaded along this unfamiliar landscape he felt very anxious.
Tons of questions zoomed through his mind.

An Analysis Of Bach s The On The Spirits Of Music Lovers
The title Clavierubung means keyboard study or exercise, a term that probably referred both to the
keyboard skill of the performer and the inventive powers of the composer. Bach s full title added that
the music was to refresh the spirits of music lovers, omitting the pedagogic implications of the candid
instruction that headed the title of the inventions and sinfonias. The Clavierubung consists of four
major parts: 1. The six partitas, published in 1731. 2. An overture and concerto (1735). 3. Four duets
and organ chorales (1739). 4. Goldberg variations (1742). This essay focuses on the first part the
partitas. The meaning of the term partita is complex. Partita is the Italian form of the word and it
developed as a variation technique. In Germany it was used to refer to a collection of contrasting
dances played one after another on festive occasions. It was this usage that was adopted by Froberger
and other German composers of the 17th century when they applied it to the collections of dance
movements for the keyboard. It seems that Bach was aware of the many implications of the term
partita. It is possible that the suites which he assigned this name were so designated because they more
nearly fulfilled the varied implications of the name that did his other suites. In the keyboard partitas
Bach adhered to the old practice of maintaining the identity of key throughout an entire piece. The
variety of forms in the partitas is immediately apparent. Each one of them opens

How should we train our children?
I. THE SYSTEM THAT WE SHOULD EMPLOY IN TRAINING OUR CHILDREN. There must be a
dedication. The word chanak translated train occurs 5 times in the Old Testament. It is found twice in
Deut. 20:5; I Kings 8:63 where Solomon dedicated, chanak the temple. In II Chronicles 7:5 Solomon
dedicated the temple and here in Proverbs 22:6. It is similar to our ground breaking ceremony. There
must be excitement and enthusiasm in doing the training of our children.
Application:
There must be discernment of the child s habits, interests, moods, inclinations and attitudes. We must
consider the child s individuality and inclinations when we give our instructions to inexperienced
children. These directives should be in keeping with the degree of our child s moods. It is necessary to
know and understand our child s moods. There must be discipline, personal touch and connection.
Don t depend upon your yayas, parents. Brothers and even public and private teachers to train your
children. Don t delegate your duty to other people the privilege of training your children
Personal Story:
Application: have a firm exhortation, faithful example and consistent emphasis in your life. II. THE

Essay on Directing Juliet s Long Soliloquy
How would you direct Juliet s long soliloquy in Act 4 Scene 3 on a Shakespearean stage, conveying
Juliet s nightmarish terror and indecisiveness? My staging of Act 4 Scene 3 will emphasise the major
themes which are continued in the play as a whole; love, fate and violence. Both Romeo and Juliet are
sometimes portrayed as pawns of fate unable to escape their destiny, yet in this scene as I wish to

destiny. She does this out of love for Romeo and to escape the despair brought on by what she thinks

day time, and a chair to the left of the stage. I have chosen not to have any music during this scene, as
I want the full impact to come from the words. Having just told her mother, Lady Capulet, and the
Nurse to leave Juliet is now alone in the centre of the main stage, staring at the area where Lady
Capulet and the Nurse had just exited from. Upon speaking the first line of her speech, I would like
Juliet to remain facing in that direction, with her body turned slightly from the audience, and she
should say it in a loud, clear, and steady voice. When she says the next line I would like her to turn
towards the audience and hug herself, rubbing her arms. On the fourth line her voice should speed up
slightly, and her body turn sideways, and then without stopping she should say Nurse! , but then pause
after saying this before speaking the rest of the line. When she says Nurse! , I would like the actor to
reach out with one hand, as if beckoning them back, but then after the pause quickly withdraw it, with
Juliet having changed her mind. However, this line is sometimes interpreted as Juliet hearing the

The Importance Of Net Neutrality
Net neutrality is the idea of internet users should have equal access to internet content without any
restrictions. Net neutrality has been around since the early 2000 s and it is a debate between
government regulations concerning internet content and Internet providers (ISPs). This debate covers
a set of Internet rules imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Internet
providers efforts to reduce access to certain sites or internet services. The FCC is an agency of the U.S
government responsible for developing the regulations of internet. This event started in 1934 when the
Communications Act placed restrictions on companies providing telegram and telephone services and
established the FCC must have the authority to prevent carriers from restricting the flow of
information for political, personal or financial reasons. In the 1996, Telecom Act defined Internet
service providers as information services rather than telecommunications services.
In 2005, the FCC announced its commitment to keep the accessibility of internet to everyone. ... Show

Argumentative Essay On Mascots
Currently in the NFL, the Washington Redskins are being faced with a staggering controversy: Should
they change they change their mascot as a result of Native Americans viewing it is a racial

Native Americans are challenging the team to rid them, along with all team mascot names relating to
their culture countrywide, of their title, but the mascot names have no negative connotation and should
not be protested against. The controversy relates back to the 1900s when Native Americans began to

(Brady 2016). However, this is not the accurate, studies show that these mascots are often viewed
positively (Sommers 2012). Furthermore, recent studies have been highly inaccurate and unreliable. A
poll done by the Washington Post announced that 9 out of 10 Native Americans do not oppose their
titles as mascots. Nevertheless, the Washington Post poll was conducted exclusively by telephone

Father Vs. Son Rivalry In Finding Nemo
One of the bigger conflicts in the play is the battle rivalry between the king and the prince. Which is
similar to struggle of Uranus vs. Saturn or Saturn vs. Jupiter in ancient mythology. This struggle is a
prime example of the rivalry of the values of a father figure and the values of a son. Father versus son
conflict are evident in many different people s lives and many families in today s world. Think about
every teenage guy with their dad s, they constantly butt heads and have conflicting ideas. The teenager
in their own minds think they are always right, while the Father who has life experience has his own
ideas and is trying to develop their child into a successful adult and human being. Father versus son
conflict is possibly the most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their is the one of the older son where he does not want to move away from his childhood home to a
home in a suburb in closer to the city where his dad got a job at. His girlfriend breaks up with him due
to him moving away, so the oldest son blames his father for this and eventually runs away to try to
reconcile with his ex girlfriend. The father and son reconcile though, and never argue again. Unlike in
the play where the King and the Prince reconcile, then they eventually end up in conflict and
opposition again. Another example of father versus son conflict is one of the other boys as he strives
for his dad s attention, yet his dad constantly ignores him and he finally thinks its enough and runs
away from his family. This is alot different than the play because in the play his the Prince s family
does not try to save the Prince where as in the movie the whole family searches for the younger
brother of the family. These two forms of entertainments are very different and yet have certain
similarities for example the key father versus son conflict, while the difference between the two is that
one the conflict is resolved, while in the other the conflict is resolved for a brief part of the plot, but is
soon reignited by the Prince s fulfillment of the prophecy which

  • 2. Akbar Research Paper The Mughal dynasty was established by a man named Babur who ruled over the state of Hindustan (India). As a youth, Babur, a prince of the house of Timur, was unable to maintain his sovereignty over the small Central Asian state bequeathed to him by his father (Source?). Instead, he turned his attention to the southeast, where he occupied Kabul in 1504, and almost immediately embarked on his conquest of India (Source?). By 1527, Babur had defeated both the forces of the Lodi sultan and those of the Hindu confederacy (Source?). However, at the time of his death, in 1530, he had not yet transformed his territorial acquisitions into an empire (Source?). This task was left to his son Humayun, who lacked the military genius of his father and soon forfeited the Mughal foothold in India (Source?). Only through Persian military intervention did he manage to regain the capital cities of Agra and Delhi in 1555; however, Humayun s son Akbar was credited with the real foundation of the Mughal Empire (Source?). During his reign from 1556 to 1605, Akbar established dominion over northern and central India, as far east as Bengal. He secured the northwestern frontier, which served as a gateway to India for so many previous invasions. Akbar s most important territorial gain was the sultanate of Gujarat, in the west, which provided the Mughal empire with enormous wealth from its commercial centers, and access to the Arabian Sea. This presented an opportunity for lucrative trade with both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Massachusetts Bay Colony The government of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was simultaneously theocratic, democratic, oligarchic, and authoritarian in different ways. The Puritans founded the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1628 and wanted a well established government, but they ended up mixing all of these together. This colony was important because it was one of the first provincial and true governments to be introduced into the colonies. It also provided an example to other colonies to base their governments on. The Massachusetts Bay Colony can be said to have been partly theocratic based on a couple of reasons. For example, the Puritans believed that they had a covenant with God to build a society that would be a model for humankind. This shows partly theocracy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This control from a small group of people may have been what the people thought was the right thing to do at the time, but it was somewhat why they had come to the New World in the first place was to get rid of a single person ruling everyone. Last but not least the government of the Massachusetts Bay Colony was partly authoritarian for many reasons. The colony favored a strict set of rules and taxes and stuck to them. This shows the authoritarian government. The Governor set the taxes and laws based on the will of the church and what was the right thing to do. They even had strict rules about kissing in public, and various other inappropriate things considered to be wrong by the church. Some states were nicknamed after the color of the paper that the laws were printed on. The irony of this is that the people wanted to live an easier life with more freedom from the government and religion, but then proceeded to promote and carry out repressive laws such as kissing in public. As you can see the Massachusetts Bay Colony was very diverse in its form of government and how the colony was run. Some people say it consists of a mix of all of these forms of governments (theocracy, democracy, oligarchy, and authoritarian) when in fact the government was one of a kind and very influential to other colonies. It helped other colonies because it helped them decided to take bits and pieces of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Examples Of Discrimination In A Fine Balance Caste Discrimination in Politics In A Fine Balance, Mistry investigates the subaltern status of the Dalits and the impact of untouchability on politics. At that point, Mistry highlights the cruelty of political issues in this novel. Judith Fetterley expounds the power in politics: Power is the issue in the politics of literature, as it is in the politics of anything else. To be excluded from a literature , that claims to define one s identity is to experience a peculiar form of powerlessness (492). He also investigates the injustice of caste, and tests the ramifications of opposing it. While Narayan picks political resistance, Om and Ishvar experience the ill effects of escape and outcast. • 6. Symbolism In Christina Rossetti s Goblin Market Goblin Market tells the story of two devoted young sisters, Laura and Lizzie. Goblin men curse one sister after offering her special fruit, and the other sister must face the goblin men to save her sister from certain death (Rossetti 1 567). Poet Christina Rossetti employs a significant amount of symbolism in her work, Goblin Market. Examples of symbols used in the poem include fruit, Lizzie, goblin men, and money. First, fruit is a symbol in Goblin Market. At the beginning of the poem, the goblin men advertise the fruits they are selling: Come buy our orchard fruits, Come buy, come buy: Apples and quinces, Lemons and oranges, Plump unpecked cherries, Melons and raspberries... (Rossetti lines 3 8) Laura is seduced into purchasing these fruits from the goblin men. She sucked and sucked and sucked the more/ Fruits which that unknown orchard bore;/ She sucked until her lips were sore (Rossetti 134 136). I believe that the fruit is a symbol for sin. Laura knows that she should not be indulging in the forbidden fruit, but her desire for the fruit prevails over her caution of the goblin men (Rossetti 69 106). The Parliamentary System And The Presidential System Depending on the principles the state has adopted, the political system tends to focus on one of the two main governing systems, the parliamentary system or the presidential system. A governing body is significantly important in order to achieve legitimate power and authority to implement rules and maintain solidarity in a political community. The parliamentary system also known as the Westminster system was established in the United Kingdom in which, many countries including Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain and Canada has modelled this system. On the other hand, the presidential system also called the congressional system was developed in the United States and enforced in countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi and all countries in Central and South America. It is inevitable for the two systems to have shared features as well as opposing aspects which allows us to identify the strengths and weaknesses within the systems. The distinctive qualities between the parliamentary system and the presidential system emphasizes the unique characteristics in each system. Firstly, the parliamentary system acts on a dual executive role while the presidential system focuses on a single executive power role. States with dual executive roles tends to have a joined up governance where the power is shared between the head of government the prime minister and the head of state the governor general. • 8. Advantages Of Qualitative Research 5 Qualitative Research 5.1 Methodology As the aim of the research is to identify the relationship between the CSR and the brand trust, focus group would be the most appropriate approach to collect a diverse range of individuals opinions in a short time (Rabiee, 2007). Moreover, Focus group would encourage participants to communicate with each other, which would generate more data which cannot be collected by one to one depth interview, this could be termed as the group effect (Carey Smith 1994). Morgan Krueger (1993) also point out that focus group would observe the participants attitude about the social problems. The objective of qualitative research is to collect the individuals views and support the quantitative research design. The focus group is considered as a technique, which implements the depth group interview to collect the data and evaluate the identified variables are relevant for the study (Rabiee, 2007). Richardson Rabiee (2001) argue that participants should be selected according to the following criteria: First, they have the relevant life experiences and have something to state on the topic. Second, it would be better that they are not fearful of expressing the opinions among the participants. Third, they could feel comfortable communicating with each other. To collect more valuable data, the focus group was divided into two groups, each group has 5 participants. They were conducted in one of the group members flat on 1st November and 2nd ... Doctors, the Center for Disease Control, and citizens try to figure out if the disease is spread sexually, through blood or bodily secretions. The film And the Band Played On shows the reaction from the government, the Center for Disease Control, and normal citizens of the United States when this mysterious disease emerges. For example, in 1985 hysteria broke out across Queens when the New York City Board of Education announced that children with AIDS could attend public schools with healthy children. Parents protested against this in fears their children may contract this deadly disease with no known cause. Parents believed that their parental instinct and community control should trump what little known information about the disease that the NYC Board of Education was using. This event is described in Jennifer Brier s article Save Our Kids, Keep AIDS Out : Anti AIDS Activism and the Legacy of Community Control in Queens, New York . The Importance Of Western Culture And Punjabi Culture A constant struggle of incorporating western mentality and remaining true to my Punjabi culture has been at the root of many dilemmas throughout my life and has caused me to engender my own set of values, which reflect a unique blend of western culture and Punjabi culture. As a future marriage and family therapist who will be assessing a diverse population, I foresee this amalgamation becoming an issue when I receive clients who come from a similar background and have a certain expectation of what I should say, or when I receive clients who come from a different background and have different values than I do. If one is not consciously aware of these values and biases, then it is very likely that these concerns will impede the therapeutic relationship and the work of the therapist. For instance, Punjabi culture emphasizes parents sacrificing their own happiness for their children s happiness, which can be seen via parents not getting a divorce for a child s happiness. I have seen the latter occur many times, even in instances where the parents cannot stand one another. Growing up I understood this mentality, because I had witnessed my American friends going through turmoil when finding out their parents were getting a divorce. The synapse is the small gap separating two neurons, the presynaptic neuron (neuron that carries the impulse to the synapse,) and postsynaptic neuron (neuron that carries the impulse away from the synapse.) It separates the axon terminals of the presynaptic neuron from the postsynaptic neuron. The synapse is made of three major parts: a presynaptic neuron, a postsynaptic neuron, and a synaptic cleft. The presynaptic neuron contains the neurotransmitters, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, and other cell organelles. The series of EPSPs added together is the process of summation. If the threshold is reached, then an action potential is generated. There is a synaptic delay within the arrival of stimuli at the presynaptic knob and the result of the stimuli on the postsynaptic membrane. This delay is about 0.2 to 0.5 milliseconds long. The synaptic delay is a result of the increased concentration of calcium ions and the release of the ACh. Step 4: Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) breaks down all of the ACh in the synaptic cleft and removes it from the postsynaptic ending. The AChE does this by hydrolyzing the ACh molecules into acetate and choline. The presynaptic knob then absorbs the choline from the synaptic cleft. The choline molecules are used to remake ACh. When ACh molecules are recycled, the recycling and transport mechanisms may not be able to keep up with the neurotransmitter. This results in synaptic fatigue, where the synapse is inactive until ACh is replenished. Above is an explanation about the synapse and the transmission of synapse, below is the description of the effects of drugs and toxins on synaptic transmissions. Most drugs that affect the nervous system do so by influencing the transmission of nerve impulses across synapse. • 19. The Pros And Methods Of Recidivism As a nation that constantly strives to progress, there is a consensus that those who commit unlawful behavior should be sent to correctional institutions, yet the United States government fails to question whether their traditional prison system legitimately works. One method scholars utilize to measure a nation s public safety and criminal justice effectiveness is by analyzing the recidivism rate, which is defined by the National Institute of Justice as the number of released inmates that return to crime within three years. According to sociologist Victor L Shammas, for every 100,000 people in the United States, there are 707 incarcerated, with over 75% released relapsing back into crime. The way minor criminals are stripped of opportunities within society following their release turns them to harder crime, which transforms into a viscous cycle. It appears that Norway has found the correct formula for breaking this cycle, a nation in which for every 100,000 people, only 75 are imprisoned, and only 20% released relapse into crime. The 2016 Legatum Prosperity Index rated Norway as the sixth safest country globally, and the United States as the fifty second, clearly demonstrating that the United States government needs to reform its prison policy. Norway s method of imprisoning a significant portion of offenders into minimum security prisons decreases the crime rate through implementation of educational and occupational rehabilitation programs and quality healthcare during ... In the story, the main character goes from being miserably married to being happily single, then to married again and eventually dead; all in one day. I would say that her life changed quite a bit in a small amount of time. Wouldn t you say the same? The story also says that after she found out her husband was deceased, she whispered, Free, free, free. See, back in the 1800s and early 1900s, a woman s entire life was ruled and dictated by her husband. A woman s husband worked to earn all of the money they had, the husband built their house, and he had the last say on every matter. You see, the point is that Mrs. Mallard wasn t herself while she was married. She was Mrs. Brently Mallard. But once her husband, Brently, died she was free. Free to be herself and do whatever Louise wanted; it was a new and great world for her to explore. A world where she was in charge of herself and she could make her own decisions. Her ... • 28. Cultural Change Of The Vietnam War As America was fighting a war for freedom in another country, unruly teens were fighting their own at home. Cultural change, the explosion of free love, youthful rebellion, and a new liberal mindset all seemed to have one underlying device in common; drug use. The late 1960 s into the early and mid 70 s found the perfect environment for recreational drug use. Music and arts celebrated this lifestyle, as well as free thinkers and their idiotic philosophies about spiritual elation through mind altering narcotics. Lack of family structure with so many homes transformed by the Vietnam War also left young teens without guidance, and an economy with little to offer to the up and coming generation. As the next few years passed and the free love generation began to grasp the concept of working for a living, showering on a regular basis, love with commitment (or antibiotics), and cultural change through policy, they brought to the workforce a new dynamic not previously prevalent. Recreational drug use had become part of society. Vietnam War veterans also brought their own demons home with their return, opiate addictions were a common occurrence (Carson 2012). This new dynamic was seen initially in 1971 by the National Household Survey on Drug Abuse (NHSDA) spearheaded by the Office of National Drug Control Policy. The survey indicated that many illegal drug users were employed full or part time. The initial survey was used to try and understand the scope of the problem, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Beauty In America Research Paper Just because the definition of beauty in America is to be like a Barbie: tall, slender, and gorgeous, does not mean that is the same definition in other countries. To be called beautiful in Thailand, one must have light, fair skin to be labeled as an attractive individual. Instead of spending money on tanning products like Americans do, Thais spend money on products that have whitening agents in them such as lemon juice (Magnesi). In Japan, a person who is considered beautiful has a clear, smooth complexion and stick straight hair (Magnesi). In the renaissance, women that were curvy, and fleshy were considered to be the most attractive. Paintings from the renaissance show women that would now be considered overweight in our time, but at that time they were considered the epitome of sexy (CITE). Also, in the renaissance, women believed the lighter the hair, the better. They strived for a pale face, and deep red lips (CITE). However, the women of the Victorian era were much different than the renaissance women. They were very conscious about their bodies, and beauty meant having the smallest waistline humanly possible (CITE). To achieve this small waistline, women wore corsets. Their corsets were so tight that women could barely breathe, and sitting down was out of the question (Cite). As for makeup in the Victorian era, only high class women were expected to wear makeup sparingly. Bold colors were considered to be uncouth, and reserved for prostitutes (cite). In the 1920 s instead of tight corsets to show off their curves, women wore loose dresses, and some even bound their chests with a cloth to achieve a boyish look (cite). Going ... Similarities Between Proctor And Gamble And Unilever Proctor and Gamble vs. Unilever Over the past decades creating corporate social responsibility has become very important to companies in order to compete in their industries. It has become obvious to the public that corporations have so much power in society; so corporations efforts to improve society has become a necessity to many consumers. Corporate social responsibility is defined in our textbook as, a business concern for society s welfare (Lamb, Hair, McDaniel 2017). When taking a look at Proctor and Gamble and Unilever s goals to create stronger corporate social responsibility in society I have identified a few major similarities and differences. First we will talk about a few of the similarities that have been identified in these company s plans. One similarity shared between these company s plans is their focus on Gender inclusiveness. Unilever s goal is to empower 5 million women by 2020, while P G is also focusing on empowering women in many ways. One of the ways is by promoting work for women within the firm, in India they claim to have 30% of their plant workforce being women. Another similarity can be seen in their focus on enhancing lives through out the world. A Forbes article about Unilever outlined that, the washing brand Persil has helped 10m children get an education whilst cleaning bleach Domestos has helped 5m people gain access to toilets (Feller 2016). P G has also shown is commitment to improving lives by teaming up with Habitats for Humanity to provide shelter for low income families. According to Habitats website, Nearly 2,000 P G employees have built, repaired or cleaned homes with 12,000 families (Proctor and Gamble 2015). The last similarity that I have found is both companies have set their goals for 2020 and have tracked their progress over the years. Unilever has focused on its three main goals and have further divided these goals into 50 goals in order to track their progress. P G has done a similar thing by creating sub goals within each of their four major goals. Both company s track and reported yearly progress for each of these goals. There are a few major differences between P G s and Unilever s plans. First off Unilever focus more on differences the consumer of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By expanding and contracting chambers within the water vascular system, the brittle star can force water into certain tube feet to extend them. The animal has muscles in the tube feet, which are used to retract them. By expanding and retracting the right tube feet in the proper order, the creature can walk. Many echinoderms can also form suckers on the ends of their tube feet. The Assault By Harry Mulisch Essay In The Assault by Harry Mulisch, the themes of guilt and innocence are highly prevalent throughout its storyline and are more often than not related to each other. In these situations, Mulisch employs his diverse cast of characters, their motives, and their fates to intertwine these themes and create a morally ambiguous political thriller that leaves the audience unsure of a definite resolution. The first set of characters Mulisch employs is the Ploeg family. When Fake Ploeg is murdered in the beginning of the novel, Anton recalls him as being the greatest murderer and traitor in Haarlem (Mulisch 17), immediately informing the audience that he was intensely disliked among his community. They re hiding Jews! (Mulisch 183). This astonishes both the audience and Anton by providing the final piece to the puzzle they have been trying to solve over the course of this novel. With this revelation, Mulisch also applies the themes of innocence and guilt by exhibiting how these characters were arguably at fault for the death of Anton s family without actively participating, and by being in danger, those three people had unknowingly saved themselves and the lives of two others (184). Mulisch leaves Anton pondering if everyone [was] both guilty and not guilty? Was guilt innocent and innocence guilty? Chivalry is the overall code of being respectful, religious, and morally right. Some believe chivalry is dead in our society, but I believe it has just been evolved for modern day life. In Sir Gawain and the Green Knight , the author pokes fun at the court s values of chivalry. During the second half of the 14th century, when the story takes place, chivalry dictates their ranks and their everyday life. Chivalry in the 14th century was based on religion and honoring everyone. A knight that is chivalrous would be religious, protect the weak and defenseless, to live by honer and for glory, to guard the honor of all other knights, to always tell the truth and to be respectful of women. The Green knight takes three swings at Sir Gawain, the first because the knight was of Lighthearted sport (line 324), this meant that he was only swinging because of their deal. The second swing was for the two kisses he received from the green knight s wife. He received the third and final stroke because he did not give the Lord the last gift, the sash. • 37. An Analysis Of Bach s The On The Spirits Of Music Lovers The title Clavierubung means keyboard study or exercise, a term that probably referred both to the keyboard skill of the performer and the inventive powers of the composer. Bach s full title added that the music was to refresh the spirits of music lovers, omitting the pedagogic implications of the candid instruction that headed the title of the inventions and sinfonias. The Clavierubung consists of four major parts: 1. The six partitas, published in 1731. 2. An overture and concerto (1735). 3. Four duets and organ chorales (1739). 4. Goldberg variations (1742). This essay focuses on the first part the partitas. The meaning of the term partita is complex. Partita is the Italian form of the word and it developed as a variation technique. In Germany it was used to refer to a collection of contrasting dances played one after another on festive occasions. It was this usage that was adopted by Froberger and other German composers of the 17th century when they applied it to the collections of dance movements for the keyboard. It seems that Bach was aware of the many implications of the term partita. It is possible that the suites which he assigned this name were so designated because they more nearly fulfilled the varied implications of the name that did his other suites. In the keyboard partitas Bach adhered to the old practice of maintaining the identity of key throughout an entire piece. The variety of forms in the partitas is immediately apparent. Net neutrality has been around since the early 2000 s and it is a debate between government regulations concerning internet content and Internet providers (ISPs). This debate covers a set of Internet rules imposed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Internet providers efforts to reduce access to certain sites or internet services. The FCC is an agency of the U.S government responsible for developing the regulations of internet. This event started in 1934 when the Communications Act placed restrictions on companies providing telegram and telephone services and established the FCC must have the authority to prevent carriers from restricting the flow of information for political, personal or financial reasons.
