Wiseblood Movie Vs Book
2. Wiseblood can be described as hopeful throughout the novel and movie because of Hazel s
struggle to wrap his mind around Christianity. In the first scene of the movie version of
Wiseblood, Hazel asks the lady sitting across from him on the train whether or not she thinks
she has been saved by Jesus. He then launches into his spiel about why she can not be saved and
that Jesus never washed everyone s sins away with his blood (Wiseblood). While this may not
seem hopeful, it is made clear that Hazel is trying to convince himself that Jesus did not save him
from his sins. The fact that Hazel is trying to convince himself that Jesus can not wash sins away
is why the book is described as hopeful. His struggle with religion shows that Hazel still... Show

O Connor chose character names to help show the role religion plays in her novel, Wiseblood.
Enoch is based off of Enoch from the Bible. Enoch was the great grandfather of Noah. He walked
with God and lived until he was 365 years old. He was very wise and some say that he never
died; he just went to Heaven to live with God. In the novel and the movie, Enoch had wiseblood
that he inherited from his father (O Connor). The fact that Enoch inherited his wisdom from his
father shows that Enoch was based off of Enoch from the Bible who walked with God, The
Father. Enoch also did not die at the end of the book, he simply ran away in the gorilla suit,
which goes back to the story of Enoch when he went to live in Heaven with God instead of
dying. Sabbath was named after the sabbath. Her name did not show her true character though.
She turned out to not be innocent at all. In the movie, she tries to be very seductive with her
movements when she is around Hazel. She even tells Hazel how she wrote a letter to a
columnist for advise about necking (Wiseblood). She symbolizes all of the people who say they
are Christians when they are actually just frauds. Then there is Asa Hawks, who is blind.
Hawks can be compared to Saul changed into Paul. Saul was an atheist who was blinded by
God, he eventually became a Christian and was granted his sight back. Hawks was a preacher
that decided he was going to blind himself in front of a crowd with lye (O Connor). However, he
did not have the courage to go through with it (O Connor), so he just pretended to be blind. O
Connor used her characters to illustrate the role of religion in Haze s

Who Is Abraham Lincoln A Good President
The best US president was easily Abraham Lincoln. He accomplished a lot of things as president
such as putting an end to slavery as well as he had plenty of amazing speeches that had some of the
best quotes and these together made the people love him.
The way president Lincoln ended slavery was tactful and necessary. He initially started as
antislavery and transitioned to emancipation. The quote Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary
Emancipation Proclamation, declaring all slaves in rebel states should be free as of Jan. 1, 1863,
(Paul) expresses how he even had a preliminary proclamation to test the waters first. If it wasn t a
gradual change away from slavery then the southern states would have detached from the rest of
the US and been their own country where slavery was allowed. The way Abraham Lincoln did this
was by instating laws that forbade slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the more famous ones is described as he issued a stirring plea for the country to pay them
tribute by honoring principles liberty, equality worth dying for (Time Inc.). He had so many good
quotes he even had a memorial named after him filled with his quotes. They are inscribed on the
seat he sits in and in the walls all around it. His famous speeches are also within the memorial for
the people to read.
Most people love Abraham Lincoln due to his great speeches and having abolished slavery. These
are great because a great leader needs to be loved by the people. There was never a profound leader
who wasn t loved by the people he ruled over. Even some communists that accomplished grand
goals were loved by their people.
In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln is the best president. He helped abolish slavery, he had excellent
speeches, and was loved by many of the people of and beyond his time. These are what make him
a great president worthy of being called the best.

Creative Commons America Needs Fair Use Licenses
It s likely happened to you before, you turn on your radio, or favorite music video network and
begin listening to a song by some hot new pop starlet, hip hop superstar, or aging rocker. The
beat is catchy, inviting, and oddly familiar, almost too familiar in fact. You may think, Didn t
David Bowie, or, hmm, wasn t it that guy from Queen that played this riff in like ten years ago?
Who is this Vanilla Ice guy and why is he rapping over it? If you were old enough to remember
Under Pressure and subsequently were listening Ice Ice Baby in 1990 (likely while cruising in
your Mustang 5.0 convertible on your way to a Milli Vanilli concert), you would have experienced

Thankfully, a solution called Creative Commons has been developed which addresses many of these
issues in an effort to encourage new creative development through the open sharing of intellectual
property. (Lessig)
There are many issues with the current copyright laws that exist in the Canada and the United
States today. Many critics of these laws like, Creative Commons founder Lawrence Lessig; believe
that current copyright laws only exist to protect entrenched, and often uncreative interests at the
expense of everyone else. (Plotkin) In the United States, back in 1790, copyright extended for 14
years after the document was published, and then for another 14 years if the author was still
alive. (Plotkin) Today copyright laws in the US have been lengthened to 70 years after the death
of the author, which means that companies can withhold releasing works into the public domain
for almost a century. (Plotkin) In Canada copyright laws are similar, but instead of 70 years after
death, an authors works are released into the public domain 50 years after their death. (Harris)
Lessig has stated in interviews that current copyright and patent practices are contrary to the reason
why they were developed in the first place. (Plotkin) They were

Corruption In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath
A constant theme throughout the entirety of the story of Grapes of Wrath is the corruption of the
government and police officers. This corruption appears in the beginning through the banks taking
the land from the farmers, and once the Joads reach California, it appears there and throughout the
rest of the story as the policeand business owners. The officers beat them, and through the people
into their cars just because the business owner s point their fingers. This happens more than a
few times within the pages of the story, and the brutality given by the police to the crime doers
is the cause of the death of Jim Casy, which had an impact on me as the reader, because he was
my personal favorite character throughout the mess of the Joad family s trip. Obviously
corruption exists in the real world, with many governments around the planet not allowing any
voice to be spoken except for their own, or even hiding very dark secrets among themselves, but
there is a form of corruption lying within another type of corporation. The food industry is filled
to the brim with lying and deceitful people, as well as dark hearted men and women who don t
care or respect anyone else s well being, and just want to get themselves ahead and make as... Show

deeper than their consumer products. Within the countries of South America, where Hershey s,

look into the darker areas of the farms, and you find children, maybe just barely the age of 10,
perhaps older, but more likely younger. These children aren t the sons and daughters of the farmers

Distribution of articles and journals allow AARP to increase its influence on American voters.
There s a contract with AOL offering members a ten percent discount which is advertised through
AOL Software and is distributed to millions throughout the United States. This practice allows
AARP to contact more voters and members than in previous years. All practice enable the AARP to
influence decisions of voters, which in turn affect the policy making process in their favor.
Sponsoring political debates is another strategy used which enables the AARP to convey their
message in the form of advertising during commercial breaks in the debate. Most of the AARP s
influence is conveyed through approximately twenty second advertisement spots, which sum up
the organization s beliefs. In order for the AARP to achieve its political goals, it is vital that they
are able to influence public opinion. The primary way the group goes about this is by producing
and airing major television programs that focus on issues such as federal tax reform and social
security. Without the media, the AARP would have far less impact on political decision making.
Recently, the AARP has come under scrutiny of the United States Senate, led by Senator Alan K.
Simpson, a republican from Wyoming. The senator questions the AARP s status as a non profit
organization benefited by a tax exemption and unlimited lobbying privileges. In addition,

Banquo Eulogy
Welcome, dear family and relatives of Banquo, noble thanes and kinsmen. You have come far
and to attend this funeral in Lochaber and pay tribute to my best friend and your brave soldier.
His death was untimely and it is truly hard for me to speak of him now that he is deceased. I am
here today not to speak of his death and that he is no longer here by my side but to speak of his
times of great triumph. His death has hurt me and I will do whatever it takes to destroy the lives
of those people who murder him. All of you and myself will mourn the loss of one of our great
soldiers and my best friend. Banquo was the bravest person I have ever met, he spent his life
fighting for Scotland and he fought well and came out of all of his battles alive. He has always
stayed by my side. He lived a noble life and he died a noble death, from the start of his life when
we were playing together as children to the end he was an admired and undaunted man. During
his battles he was trusted with men s lives and he will be in his death. He fought like a gladiator.

Eve s Bayou Essay
Eve s Bayou was a movie with a storyline that kept me interested. Different, cultures and beliefs
always intrigue me. Voodoo and the belief in second sight are captivating subjects. As a counselor,
we need to respect different views and cultures. While watching the film I could not help but relate
it to the material I am studying in trauma class. Eve was affected by the rules of a dysfunctional
family: don t talk, don t feel and don t trust. Her sister Cisely was trying to comfort her through the
re narration of the sexual encounter she witnessed between her Father and Matty. Furthermore, the
poem at the end was a beautiful reflection of how memory is interwoven. Talking about memory as

It demonstrated the need for family therapy before the release of an individual from rehab. Kym s

The confrontation between her mother and her in regards to being left to care for her little brother

Summary Of The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell
Inside The Evidence On The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell discuss different concepts that
explain the sudden spread of a product or idea. Gladwell explains that this sudden and
instantaneous spread is very similar to an epidemic. Gladwell uses the examples of fashion trends,
the success of a book, the decrease of crime in New York City, smoking and the increase of suicide
rate. To explain the three rules of the Tipping Point, the law of the few, the stickiness factor and the
power of context (29) influence how a trend, product or action takes off as an epidemic. In the
power of context Gladwell introduces a different way of being a connector. That one person can

Gladwell presents us with many examples of real life situations when his idea of word of mouth
comes out to be true. In the majority of the examples and proves Gladwell shows in this chapter
heavily appeal to logos and ethos. Gladwell supports his argument with past historical events and
also with scientific studies. Not everyone will enjoy reading this type of approach Gladwell
decided to use for his argument. But it just simply gives more credibility to his argument. The
rise of the Methodist church is a better evidence to support one of Gladwell s main idea which is
the stickiness factor rather than using the rise to popularity of the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya
Sisterhood . Although, the Ya Ya Sisterhood reached success due to the word of mouth and
caused some stickiness, still not everyone is aware of its success. There is a greater percentage
of people who are part of the Methodist church and live according to the ideology taught by its
founder John Wesley (172). According to Gladwell the Methodist movement went from 20,000 to
90,000 followers in a space of five years. Also the fact that after centuries the Methodist church is
still relevant until this day and it is a better example to prove the idea of the stickiness factor or
the word of mouth but it also gives a perspective of how long something can stick

significant amounts farther than the rocket s with a much larger mass, that would validate my
hypothesis correct.
PROCEDURES
In the steps provided below, are the methods I used to create my rocket. However, the methods
listed may or may not apply to you. Please be aware.
THE BODY:
Materials needed: A 2L Pop bottle, a black marker, paint, a ruler
, and a roll of masking tape. You
can also use Duct tape instead of masking tape if you prefer. Both works equally.
For the body of my rocket, I decided to cover it with masking tape. If I wanted to prove my
hypothesis correct, this would be the best way to prove my point.
Get your Pop bottle, and start measuring it.
It is much easier when you measure out your Pop bottle, so you know the exact and accurate
placements of wherever you decide to place your fins/cone.
Once you have measured out your Pop bottle, decide where you are going to wrap the masking tape
around.
For my sake, I decided to cover the center of the bottle with masking tape.

Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet Essay example
Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet
Franco Zefferelli s film, Hamlet, adapted from Shakespeare s text, Mel Gibson s Hamlet, struts and
frets his life in Denmark, convincing almost everyone that he is mad. The film bases the question of
whether or not Hamlet is actually insane almost solely on Gibson s acting interpretations, but
Zefferelli s editing choices assist in making the point that Hamlet is not insane, but either in a fog
of confusion and anger from his grief, or pretending to be mad to manipulate others.
In the film, the morning after Hamlet sees his father s ghost, there is a silent scene between Ophelia
and Hamlet. He appears to Ophelia, disheveled and obviously emotionally distressed. He seems to
try to say ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play within a play succeeds at catching the conscience of the King (3.1.582). In the film,
Hamlet dances exultantly with the players and says to Horatio joyfully, I ll take the Ghost s
word for a thousand pound (3.2.263 4). Claudius reaction to the play of running out and then
going to confession makes Hamlet believe that Claudius did, in fact, murder King Hamlet. In the
final two acts of the film, Mel Gibson rarely descends into fits of rage and depression. Instead, he
puts on the act of madness by appearing playful or irrational around other characters to help him in
the process of revenge.
Hamlet abuses Polonius assumption that Hamlet is mad by constantly behaving as such around
him. In the film, he appears disheveled, engages in wordplay, and even throws Polonius off a
ladder. Mel Gibson s acting choices make it clear that Hamlet is merely pretending because, as
soon as Polonius is out of sight, he usually has a ponderous soliloquy devoid of the mad
mannerisms present with Polonius. This manipulation is especially present in the scene in which
Hamlet tells Ophelia that he never loved her (3.1). In the film, Hamlet sees the king, queen, and
Polonius run to hide and watch the conversation. During the scene, Hamlet tells Ophelia sotto
voce, I did love you once (3.1.116). Then, he yells, I loved you not (3.1.119 120). Gibson s change
in volume and tone of voice proves that he is not fickle, a

Sex Offender Management
I.Introduction
The proper management and treatment of adult and juvenile sex offender play a crucial role in the
protection of the general public. In order to properly manage and treat sex offenders the: who, what,
where, why and how of the sexual offender and the sexual offense committed. When issuing
management and treatment the nature of the crime comes into great thought of whether it was rape,
public exposure, sodomy, possession of child pornography, etc. All of these crimes all have different
punishments that follow which would also mean the management and treatment of the sex offender

As mentioned earlier as much as the offender wants to change that is not enough. Wanting to
change is usually not enough to be able to change the patterns that lead to sexual offenses. To
create the motivation to change, some offenders need a variety of treatment and corrective
interventions, and for others learning how to make the change in their own behavioral cycle of
abuse is more effective, (Office of the Attorney General State of California). Historically it was
ok to marry a twelve year old child and start reproducing around fourteen years of age. This was
because life expectancy was not that long and at around the age of fourteen individuals was
considered to be adults and thus it was acceptable. Thus there being no need for treatment because
there was no sex offender cases. While in today s society this is no longer acceptable while in some
places the age of consent is as young as sixteen years (The Age of Consent). With the history of sex
offender management came treatment which was castration which is the altogether removal of
genitals, and imprisonment. While according the Bureau of Justice Assistance there are three forms
of treatment for sex offenders. There is the cognitive behavioral approach, which focuses on
changing the thinking patterns of an offender. The psycho educational approach focuses on

How Did You Use Horizontal Integration
Social Studies MP4 Project on John D. Rockefeller

A: Well, to start off, I was born in Richford, New York. Later as a kid when I was fourteen years
old, I moved with my family to Cleveland, Ohio. I began some small business ventures when I
was sixteen. My first real office job was an assistant bookkeeper with Hewitt and Turtle. Then, at
age 20, I worked as a commission merchant in hay, meats and other goods with a business partner.
Q: What was the start of your oil career life like?

competing against us, and proposed a secret deal with us to be acquired into our company.
Q: Why did you use horizontal integration?
A: Horizontal integration was one of the main ways that I succeeded. One of the ways that I used
horizontal integration was to buy railroads to ship my oil to where it needed to go for more money
and profit. I also bought out my opponents for more money and less competition. This is how I
started my monopoly.

Impact Of General Aviation On Capacity At Sea Tac
Having thoroughly reviewed the history, value, financial performance, marking, and asset structure
of Alaska Airlines, we will now take a slight step back from directly reviewing the selected airline
to assess the viability of the main hub airport for Alaska Airlines, Seattle Tacoma International
Airport (SEA TAC). As such, we will review the current market demand, historical growth,
forecasted growth predictions, as well as airfield capacities in current state and future development
plans including the impacts associated with NextGen Technologies. Furthermore, we will review
the impact of general aviation on capacity at SEA TAC.
Regarding aviation demand as a historical and predicted growth measure at SEA TAC, there has
been a significant departure from the predicted rates in the previous two years. More specifically,
using enplanements as a measure of comparative growth for predictive models, the Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) forecasted average growth of 2.55% annually over the period of
2014 to 2040 (Terminal area forecast summary). Astonishingly, SEA TAC saw an unprecedented
growth of 7.7% in 2014 and an even more dramatic growth of 12.9% in 2015 which included a
14.6% increase in international traveler enplanement (News release: Sea tac airport growth).
Comparatively, representing these numbers as total annual passengers indicate 37 million
passengers in 2014, 42.3 million in 2015 and an anticipated growth to 66 million by 2034, or a
further 56% growth over

an extreme fascist government. Fascism is defined as an authoritarian nationalistic system of
government and social organization (Passmore), which was how Franco ran his government, taking
complete control and doing many extreme things that took away the country s culture and diversity,
leaving it very isolated. Franco s fascist government profoundly impacted the people because of the

is catholic, but it does not speak of any other religion, which is an example of an extreme
limitation he put on the people, impacting the culture of the country. Franco isolated the people by
putting many restrictions on them, such as banning foreign languages and creating a secret police

Biography of Edgar Allan Poe Essay
Biography of Edgar Allan Poe Edgar Allan Poe was born at 33 Hollis Street, Boston, Mass., on
January 19, 1809, the son of poverty stricken actors, David, and Elizabeth (born Arnold) Poe. His
parents were then filling an engagement in a Boston theatre, and the appearances of both, together
with their sojourns in various places during their wandering careers, are to be plainly traced in the
play bills of the time.
Paternal Ancestry

Young David Poe was destined for the law, but as previously mentioned, he finally left his native

Monuments And Masculinity In Roland Emmerich s...
Monuments and Masculinity
Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by
Susan Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That
is what qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven
Spielberg s E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). This film, among other things, believes that femininity
in leadership will lead to disaster on the political stage and that personal relationships should mirror
the ideals of this government balance. This scene uses framing and set design re erect themes of
the traditional sci fi ideology such as the military embodiment of masculinity and the weak
femininity of a scientist . This scene also sets the stage for what Sontag calls the balance of a good
war and the yearning for peace which unfolds throughout the film. The ideology of Independence
Day is despairingly unoriginal, touching on almost all themes outlined by Sontag as what makes
the science fiction genre.
Queuing up stage Sontag s third stage of the science fiction film, In the capital of the country,

Why Does The A-League Need To Invest In Advertising
The A League needs to invest in advertising
Football s popularity has increased within the space of 10 years and it is now a dominant force
within our sporting landscape.
We are now regularly seeing crowds of 40K turn up for Melbourne and Sydney derbies and the
increase in mainstream popularity has certainly contributed to this. However, one aspect I believe
the A League could potentially improve on, is the external advertisingof its matches and finals
series.
In comparison to rival codes, the NRL and AFL, there is a significantly lower amount of
advertising in regards to local derbies, A League matches and the finals series.
Television commercials promoting upcoming NRL and AFL matches are quite common in their
respective markets and there s no denying that crowd attendances for upcoming matches are
contributed to by these ads.
However, I have not seen any television commercials promoting ... Show more content on

The NRL s current Let Me Entertain You campaign has succeeded in gaining extra revenue and
sponsorship for the sport, with the campaign effectively utilised on social media and external
advertising.
Realistically, the A League should be producing promotional and informative advertising annually.
Every season has a different story to tell. Why not showcase it for the general population?
The Barclays Premier League heavily invest in promoting upcoming matches, local derbies and
the overall code. It earns millions of pounds from advertising and promoting it s brand across
several platforms. While I understand that the A League definitely isn t at the same level as the
Premier League, I believe more needs to be done to further expand the brand.
We should be seeing television commercials, sponsor billboards and general outdoor advertising in
order to increase the general awareness of our code and continue to create more appeal into the

Objective Theory of Contracts
The four elements of a valid contract are offer and acceptance, meeting of the minds, consideration
and competent parties. The contract must cover a legal purpose or objective as well (Binder, 2012).
The objective theory of contracts holds that contract formation is dependent on what is
communicated, rather than what is thought by one of the parties (Barnes, 2008).
The Pepsi Harrier case (Leonard v. PepsiCo) is an example of a situation where the four elements of
a contract are simply not met. Advertisements in general constitute an invitation to treat, rather than
an offer. Therefore, Leonard was not able to accept the offer, because the offer never existed. As
such, the basic elements of a contract were not present in their entirety, meaning that no contract
existed between Pepsi and the Seattle man.
The objective theory of contracts is relevant to this case, because there was a clear difference
between what Pepsi was thinking and what Leonard was thinking. Each had their own view of what
the advertisement constituted, and it is from these differing views that the contract dispute arose.
The judge in this situation must use the objective theory to decide the case. This means that the
case can only rest on what has actually been communicated between the two parties. In this case,
Pepsi has an advertisement that discusses its promotion. The promotion describes a bargain in
which a customer presents Pepsi with points and Pepsi allows the customer to redeem those points

Emergency Evacuation
When in a state of a natural disaster the victims affected often looked for federal government
assistance. This belief of receiving assistance from the National government also applied to the
local government and how the they began to rely on funding and assistance. The central failure

rather than preparing proper emergency responses themselves. Johnny B Bradeberry, secretary of

Storytelling can be found in every corner of the world. It is used to pass the time, tell of past or

Lysistrata, By Euripides And Lysistrata Essay
Lysistrata was written in ancient Greece, a time where women s position in society was no greater
than a servant. In Lysistrata, Aristophanes depicts Greek women challenging male authority
through their own femininity in a comic and light hearted way. Wether or not Aristophanes was
trying to challenge male authority or was simply making a joke out of women is unclear, but it is
easy to note what ancient Greeks thought of women simply by how they depicted in Lysistrata.
Throughout the play the women are frequently presented in a stereotypical manner of inferiority
to the men. Even the female protagonist, Lysistrata, describes women as a submissive sexually
driven being. In the first scene, Lysistrata castigates the women for not showing interest and
commitment to her call to action. She says Women! Announce a debauch in honor of Bacchos
/...and traffic stops the streets are absolutely clogged/with frantic females...No urging for an
orgy! But today there s not one woman here! Lysistrata is portrayed to be less feminine and
mysogynistic, which leaves me to wonder wether that would have been the only acceptable way
to be able to have a successful play with a female lead character. Lysistrata s neighbor, Cleonice,
continuous to describe the women in a stereotypical fashion, Oh! they will come, my dear; but it s
not easy, you know, for women to leave the house. One is busy pottering about her husband; another

Correspondingly, Morrison explores the latter aspect of her theme in her poem Someone Leans

Unfortunately, the poem does not explicitly mention the living status of the protagonist or whether

Women s Rites Of Passage
Introduction
Every culture in the world has rites of passage. Whether it be death and dying, birth or a transition
from puberty to adulthood, every culture has certain rituals they use to christen these changes in
social status within a society. A rite of passage is symbolic in how important a change is in the
lives of the people who experience them. Status changes such as these are very important in the
eyes of their culture and the ceremonies they produce help them retain stability while their society
adjust to the changes that are occurring to the individuals. An interesting rite of passage that can be
found in many cultures around the world is a young girls transition into womanhood. Two of the
cultures that one examined this rite in were the Oglala Sioux of South Dakota, and the Tukuna of
the Amazon. With the genocide of the Native Americans, many of the rituals and ceremonies they
use have not been seen by outsiders. Information on any ceremony can be hard to find. Fortunately,
the Oglala Sioux Wichasa Wakhan, holy man, Black Elk recorded these ceremonies before his
death. In the book The Sacred Pipe, Black Elk discusses the seven sacred rites of the Oglala Sioux,
one of which is Ishna Ta Awi Cha Lowan, preparing a young girlfor womanhood. (Black Elk,
1989). In this ceremony, the rite is performed just after the young girls first menstrual cycle. Black
Elk states that this transition is very important to the Oglala Sioux, because this is when a young
girl makes

Rita Williams-Garcia Essay
Have you ever met someone that had you not laid eyes on them, you would never have believed
how old they might be? Well Rita Williams Garcia is that person. With a bubbly, child like
personality, she gets over joyed at the thought of a story idea, or learning new things. Ms.
Williams draws you in to her world with her style of speaking and excitement with the simple
things of literacy. Ahead of others her age, at the age of two, she had taught herself to read. She
has a love for words and an appetite for reading and exploring the world around her. Rudine Sims
Bishop, Horn Book contributor, says Comparing Williams Garcia s works with books by
African American writers Jacqueline Woodson, Dolores Johnson, and Angela Johnson, Bishop
added that the novelist may well become among the most prominent African American literary
artists of the next generation. (et al. Rita Williams Garcia, 2007) Rita was born to an Army
enlisted father and an eccentric mother in 1957, in the poor projects of Far Rockaway, New
York. She lived there with her older sister and brother and parents. By the age of two, Garcia had
taught herself to read and had read most of the Dr. Seuss collection of books by the time she
entered Kindergarten. Unlike most other children, Rita and her siblings weren t allowed to play
outside, so she entertained herself by reading and imagining those stories continuing beyond The
End . Garcia graduated from Hofta University and completed her Postgraduate study in

The Psychology of Serial Killers Essay
The Psychology of Serial Killers Many things today confuse, yet enthrall the masses. War, murder,
medical science, incredible rescues, all things you would see on The History Channel. There is
another topic that is also made into documentaries however, serial killers. Dark twisted people that
commit multiple murders are of interest to the population, but what caused them to be this way.
What horrible tragic set of events could twist a man to murder one or many people. Could
Schizophrenia, psychopathy, or sociopathy? Many people have researched this topic and believe
that childhood trauma, heavy drugs during the growing phase of life, as well as many other things
have twisted the minds of men such as Jeffery Dahmer, Charles Manson,... Show more content on

The case is very different with incipient serial killers. Fixated at a shockingly primitive stage of
emotional development, they never lose their craving for cruelty and domination. Quite
contrary: it continues to grow in them like a cancer. Eventually when dogs, cats, and other
small, four legged creatures can no longer satisfy it, they turn their terrifying attentions to a
larger, two legged breed: human beings.? The author mentions the ?primitive stage of emotional
development? in which the person would be retaining that would also explain the bed wetting
as one of the characteristics. Pyromania is another clear sign when in conjunction with the triad.
Fire is something that can be controlled by a man and twisted into an idea of power. Fire for
these individuals brings power and excitement. Henry Lee Lucas, who murdered over 450
people, burned down a house near his own at the age of six. Pyromania and animal torture
/mutilation is a manifestation of the need for power that serial killers posses and never progress
past in their mental age. The triad, according to The Encyclopedia of Serial Killers, hold evident
for nearly 60% of serial killers. These characteristics may later develop into sexual sadism,
necrophilia, or other similarly disturbing social disorders. This cookie cutter triad is a basis

  • 2. Wiseblood Movie Vs Book 2. Wiseblood can be described as hopeful throughout the novel and movie because of Hazel s struggle to wrap his mind around Christianity. In the first scene of the movie version of Wiseblood, Hazel asks the lady sitting across from him on the train whether or not she thinks she has been saved by Jesus. He then launches into his spiel about why she can not be saved and that Jesus never washed everyone s sins away with his blood (Wiseblood). While this may not seem hopeful, it is made clear that Hazel is trying to convince himself that Jesus did not save him from his sins. The fact that Hazel is trying to convince himself that Jesus can not wash sins away is why the book is described as hopeful. His struggle with religion shows that Hazel still... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... O Connor chose character names to help show the role religion plays in her novel, Wiseblood. Enoch is based off of Enoch from the Bible. Enoch was the great grandfather of Noah. He walked with God and lived until he was 365 years old. He was very wise and some say that he never died; he just went to Heaven to live with God. In the novel and the movie, Enoch had wiseblood that he inherited from his father (O Connor). The fact that Enoch inherited his wisdom from his father shows that Enoch was based off of Enoch from the Bible who walked with God, The Father. Enoch also did not die at the end of the book, he simply ran away in the gorilla suit, which goes back to the story of Enoch when he went to live in Heaven with God instead of dying. Sabbath was named after the sabbath. Her name did not show her true character though. She turned out to not be innocent at all. In the movie, she tries to be very seductive with her movements when she is around Hazel. She even tells Hazel how she wrote a letter to a columnist for advise about necking (Wiseblood). She symbolizes all of the people who say they are Christians when they are actually just frauds. Then there is Asa Hawks, who is blind. Hawks can be compared to Saul changed into Paul. Saul was an atheist who was blinded by God, he eventually became a Christian and was granted his sight back. Hawks was a preacher that decided he was going to blind himself in front of a crowd with lye (O Connor). However, he did not have the courage to go through with it (O Connor), so he just pretended to be blind. O Connor used her characters to illustrate the role of religion in Haze s ... • 3. Who Is Abraham Lincoln A Good President The best US president was easily Abraham Lincoln. He accomplished a lot of things as president such as putting an end to slavery as well as he had plenty of amazing speeches that had some of the best quotes and these together made the people love him. The way president Lincoln ended slavery was tactful and necessary. He initially started as antislavery and transitioned to emancipation. The quote Abraham Lincoln issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, declaring all slaves in rebel states should be free as of Jan. 1, 1863, (Paul) expresses how he even had a preliminary proclamation to test the waters first. If it wasn t a gradual change away from slavery then the southern states would have detached from the rest of the US and been their own country where slavery was allowed. The way Abraham Lincoln did this was by instating laws that forbade slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His famous speeches are also within the memorial for the people to read. Most people love Abraham Lincoln due to his great speeches and having abolished slavery. These are great because a great leader needs to be loved by the people. There was never a profound leader who wasn t loved by the people he ruled over. Even some communists that accomplished grand goals were loved by their people. In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln is the best president. He helped abolish slavery, he had excellent speeches, and was loved by many of the people of and beyond his time. These are what make him a great president worthy of being called the best. Works ... Who is this Vanilla Ice guy and why is he rapping over it? Thankfully, a solution called Creative Commons has been developed which addresses many of these issues in an effort to encourage new creative development through the open sharing of intellectual property. (Lessig) There are many issues with the current copyright laws that exist in the Canada and the United States today. Many critics of these laws like, Creative Commons founder Lawrence Lessig; believe that current copyright laws only exist to protect entrenched, and often uncreative interests at the expense of everyone else. (Plotkin) In the United States, back in 1790, copyright extended for 14 years after the document was published, and then for another 14 years if the author was still alive. (Plotkin) Today copyright laws in the US have been lengthened to 70 years after the death of the author, which means that companies can withhold releasing works into the public domain for almost a century. (Plotkin) In Canada copyright laws are similar, but instead of 70 years after death, an authors works are released into the public domain 50 years after their death. • 6. Corruption In John Steinbeck s The Grapes Of Wrath A constant theme throughout the entirety of the story of Grapes of Wrath is the corruption of the government and police officers. This corruption appears in the beginning through the banks taking the land from the farmers, and once the Joads reach California, it appears there and throughout the rest of the story as the policeand business owners. The officers beat them, and through the people into their cars just because the business owner s point their fingers. This happens more than a few times within the pages of the story, and the brutality given by the police to the crime doers is the cause of the death of Jim Casy, which had an impact on me as the reader, because he was my personal favorite character throughout the mess of the Joad family s trip. Obviously corruption exists in the real world, with many governments around the planet not allowing any voice to be spoken except for their own, or even hiding very dark secrets among themselves, but there is a form of corruption lying within another type of corporation. The primary way the group goes about this is by producing and airing major television programs that focus on issues such as federal tax reform and social security. • 10. Summary Of The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell Inside The Evidence On The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell discuss different concepts that explain the sudden spread of a product or idea. Gladwell explains that this sudden and instantaneous spread is very similar to an epidemic. Gladwell uses the examples of fashion trends, the success of a book, the decrease of crime in New York City, smoking and the increase of suicide rate. To explain the three rules of the Tipping Point, the law of the few, the stickiness factor and the power of context (29) influence how a trend, product or action takes off as an epidemic. In the power of context Gladwell introduces a different way of being a connector. That one person can connect to many groups (173) and that small groups have the potential... Gladwell supports his argument with past historical events and also with scientific studies. Not everyone will enjoy reading this type of approach Gladwell decided to use for his argument. But it just simply gives more credibility to his argument. The rise of the Methodist church is a better evidence to support one of Gladwell s main idea which is the stickiness factor rather than using the rise to popularity of the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood . Although, the Ya Ya Sisterhood reached success due to the word of mouth and caused some stickiness, still not everyone is aware of its success. There is a greater percentage of people who are part of the Methodist church and live according to the ideology taught by its founder John Wesley (172). According to Gladwell the Methodist movement went from 20,000 to 90,000 followers in a space of five years. Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet Essay example Franco Zefferelli s film Hamlet Franco Zefferelli s film, Hamlet, adapted from Shakespeare s text, Mel Gibson s Hamlet, struts and frets his life in Denmark, convincing almost everyone that he is mad. The film bases the question of whether or not Hamlet is actually insane almost solely on Gibson s acting interpretations, but Zefferelli s editing choices assist in making the point that Hamlet is not insane, but either in a fog of confusion and anger from his grief, or pretending to be mad to manipulate others. In the film, Hamlet dances exultantly with the players and says to Horatio joyfully, I ll take the Ghost s word for a thousand pound (3.2.263 4). Claudius reaction to the play of running out and then going to confession makes Hamlet believe that Claudius did, in fact, murder King Hamlet. In the final two acts of the film, Mel Gibson rarely descends into fits of rage and depression. Instead, he puts on the act of madness by appearing playful or irrational around other characters to help him in the process of revenge. Hamlet abuses Polonius assumption that Hamlet is mad by constantly behaving as such around him. In the film, he appears disheveled, engages in wordplay, and even throws Polonius off a ladder. Mel Gibson s acting choices make it clear that Hamlet is merely pretending because, as soon as Polonius is out of sight, he usually has a ponderous soliloquy devoid of the mad mannerisms present with Polonius. This manipulation is especially present in the scene in which Hamlet tells Ophelia that he never loved her (3.1). In the film, Hamlet sees the king, queen, and Polonius run to hide and watch the conversation. During the scene, Hamlet tells Ophelia sotto voce, I did love you once (3.1.116). Impact Of General Aviation On Capacity At Sea Tac Having thoroughly reviewed the history, value, financial performance, marking, and asset structure of Alaska Airlines, we will now take a slight step back from directly reviewing the selected airline to assess the viability of the main hub airport for Alaska Airlines, Seattle Tacoma International Airport (SEA TAC). As such, we will review the current market demand, historical growth, forecasted growth predictions, as well as airfield capacities in current state and future development plans including the impacts associated with NextGen Technologies. Furthermore, we will review the impact of general aviation on capacity at SEA TAC. Regarding aviation demand as a historical and predicted growth measure at SEA TAC, there has been a significant departure from the predicted rates in the previous two years. The very first article of this decree states that Francisco Franco holds all power and everything should be done his way. It even states that Spain is constituted as a Kingdom , meaning it is directly and completely ruled by a king, or Franco himself. Monuments and Masculinity Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by Susan Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That is what qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven Spielberg s E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). Why Does The A-League Need To Invest In Advertising The A League needs to invest in advertising Football s popularity has increased within the space of 10 years and it is now a dominant force within our sporting landscape. • 20. Objective Theory of Contracts The four elements of a valid contract are offer and acceptance, meeting of the minds, consideration and competent parties. The contract must cover a legal purpose or objective as well (Binder, 2012). The objective theory of contracts holds that contract formation is dependent on what is communicated, rather than what is thought by one of the parties (Barnes, 2008). The Pepsi Harrier case (Leonard v. PepsiCo) is an example of a situation where the four elements of a contract are simply not met. Advertisements in general constitute an invitation to treat, rather than an offer. Therefore, Leonard was not able to accept the offer, because the offer never existed. As such, the basic elements of a contract were not present in their entirety, meaning that no contract existed between Pepsi and the Seattle man. The objective theory of contracts is relevant to this case, because there was a clear difference between what Pepsi was thinking and what Leonard was thinking. Each had their own view of what the advertisement constituted, and it is from these differing views that the contract dispute arose. The judge in this situation must use the objective theory to decide the case. This means that the case can only rest on what has actually been communicated between the two parties. In this case, Pepsi has an advertisement that discusses its promotion. The promotion describes a bargain in which a customer presents Pepsi with points and Pepsi allows the customer to redeem those points ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Wether or not Aristophanes was trying to challenge male authority or was simply making a joke out of women is unclear, but it is easy to note what ancient Greeks thought of women simply by how they depicted in Lysistrata. Throughout the play the women are frequently presented in a stereotypical manner of inferiority to the men.
