Corporate Income Tax
The federal corporate income tax was created in 1909 with a rate of 1% for all businesses who had an
income above the line of $5,000. The tax rate has been as high as 52.8% in 1969 and has been divided
into different rates for different income levels. Today, the federal corporate income tax rate is a
uniform rate of 35% for companies who have an income of over $18.3 million. Throughout history,
people have debated whether lowering the federal corporate income tax rate will result in job creation.
Although lowering the tax rate might promote job creation within the country instead of job creation
overseas, support more company re investment in research and development, and allow consumers to
save more; lowering the federal corporate income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Ireland lowered its corporate tax rate to 12.5%, which got the economy booming. The
country s gross domestic product rate grew at a rate of around 26.3%. Ireland s low corporate tax rate
attracted successful foreign companies to invest in Ireland. For example, American companies such as
Microsoft, Google, and Apple all have subsidiaries in Ireland to take advantage of Ireland s low
corporate tax rate (Semeuls). However, the low corporate tax rate was not the only reason the country
had flourished. There were several other factors that helped boost Ireland s economy. One of them
included Ireland joining the European market in the 1990s, which allowed goods to flow freely across
the countries in the European Union. Soon, Ireland became an entry point within Europe and large
corporations started to use Ireland to manufacture goods and sell the goods to other European
countries without the attachment of any tariffs. In addition to Ireland joining the European market,
Ireland attracted many corporations to its country because it was primarily an English speaking
country. This helped in the ease of communication between the Irish government and the foreign
corporations. Another factor that helped boost Ireland s overall economy was that the Irish
government passed a number of educational reforms which led to a significant number of educated
graduates that came out of Irish schools (Semeuls). In the 1990s and 2000s, Ireland became a highly
attractive country for international companies because it acted as an easy trade center within the
European Single Market. Therefore, the low corporate tax rates was not the only reason Ireland s
economy boomed, but also a combination of factors, which was very specific to the country of Ireland
and that could not be copied by other countries, all came together to

What Is Ifemelu Moving Back To America
In Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel Americanah, Is about a woman who is from Nigeria where she
moves to America and decides to move back to Nigeria after many years of being in America. Claim
statement being Ifemelu s move back to Nigeria after many years of experience in America has
changed her cultural identity.
The beginning of the chapter at the moment Ifemelu arrived back in her homeland of America in
Nigeria. At first Lagos assaulted her; the sun dazed haste, the yellow buses full of squashed limbs, the
sweating hikers racing cars, the advertisements on hulking billboards (others scrawled on walls
PLUMBER CALL 080177777) and the heaps of rubbish that rose on the roadsides like a taunt. (475

She no longer has or wants to ask Ranyinudo for advice in going to the market when she felt super
uncomfortable doing, and she is used to waking up to the sound of the screaming peacocks. The
speedboat was gliding on foaming water, past beaches of ivory sand, and trees bursting, well fed
green. Ifemelu was laughing/ she caught herself in mid laughter, and looked at her present, an orange
life jacket strapped around her, a ship in the graying distance, her friends in their sunglasses, on their
way to Priye s friend s beach house, where they would grill meat and race barefoot. She thought: I m
really home, I m home (506 Adichie) Connecting to the claim, Ifemelu emotional identity sets back to
her past towards her future. Here it states that Ifemelu feels home again, she feels more comfortable
with where she originally is from as in her home country, instead of having an American culture from
America, she starts to actually settle in and enjoy herself again like before she moved from Nigeria to
America. This supports the claim of identity because Ifemelu shifted from being offended when she
came back to Nigeria from America and then she then started to try to get settled in naturally by just
letting the days pass

Costco
HBS Case Study 2: Costco Wholesale Corporation Financial Statement Analysis (A) Lee Hathaway
MMS 185: Managerial Finance Professor Veraldi September 27, 2007 It is important for stockholders
to continuously re evaluate their investments. Although some investors do this more frequently and
thoroughly than others, the majority of shareholders do so at least once each year. Therefore, Torres
desire to update her analysis in order to determine whether Costco was still operating efficiently
makes perfect sense. After thorough examination, my analysis proves that Costco remains one of the
industry s leading competitors and there seems to be no reason for Torres to sell her shares as long as
she wishes to retain holdings of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a percentage of net sales, Costco s operating income rose from 2.70% in 1997 to 2.91% in 2001.
This is a positive factor, meaning that the firm became more efficient. Another interesting trend which
demonstrates growth is the rise in interest income and other expenses from 0.07% of sales in 1997 to
0.13% in 2001 on the income sheet. Typically, this value fluctuates each year with the amount of cash
a company keeps on hand. Costco s increase suggests that the company either increased its amount of
short term deposit investments held, switched its funds to money market funds, savings accounts, or
CDs with higher yielding interest rates, or their existing funds experienced a growth in interest rates.
Moving onto the income statement portion of the common size financial statements, an increase in
cash and equivalents (3.20% of total assets in 1997 to 5.97% in 2001) and receivables (2.69% of total
assets in 1997 to 3.22% in 2001) coupled with a decrease in inventory signify Costco s improving
efficiency over this five year period. It is important to mention two points. First, the decrease in
inventory as a percentage of total assets from 30.8% in 1997 to 27.14% in 2001 signifies an increase
in the turnover rate, perhaps due to

The Management Dilemma In The NCR Country Club ( NCRCC )
When it comes to the formulation of the management research questions, there is a need to follow a
hierarchy which determines the direction of acquiring a solution. Important to note is that a
management research seeks to investigate problems and follow a step by step procedure in finding the
respective solutions. On the other hand, managers have the task of providing scientific help in the
decision making process. Therefore, it is imperative for one to take into consideration the available
alternatives available to an organization as solutions. Subsequently, following a management research
question hierarchy will enable them to conduct an adequate evaluation. Considering the case of NCR
Country Club (NCRCC) the steps involved require us to establish the management dilemma, the
management question, the research question, the investigative question, the measurement question,
and the management decision (Schindler, 2001).
Management Dilemma
The management dilemma focuses on the issues that have resulted in the current problem of an
organization (Hicks, Dattero Galup, 2006). In particular, the common factors surround the
environment and how it has contributed to the problem. A management dilemma in the NCR Country
Club is the matter related to the satisfaction of the members and non members when it comes to the
provision of facilities such as a swimming pool, availability of superior dining services among other
issues (Schindler, 2001). For this reason, the members and

The IQ Debate Essay
Intelligence can be defined in many different ways. This concept has been the focus of numerous
studies and investigations by psychologists and other scientific experts. Intelligence can be the mental
ability to reason, plan ahead, understand a wide range of complex issues and learn from past
experiences (Gottfredson, 1997). Intelligence is the resultant of the process of acquiring, storing in
memory, retrieving, combining, comparing, and using in new contexts information and conceptual
skills (Humphreys, 1979)
Intelligence is commonly measured through the use of a number of scales and quantitative measures,
like the Intelligence Quotient (IQ), developed by Alfred Binet in early 20th century to identify which
French children needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Far right commentators generally support this argument, which has been supported by the findings of
a number of researches, including those led by Professor Robert Plomin
(http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/850358.stm). They have also utilised these arguments to explain a
wide range of social phenomena, including crime. Other experts have strongly disagreed with this
view, arguing that intelligence levels are directly related to situational factors. Environmental factors
like the quality of the education system can have a very significant influence in the development of
intelligence. Situational factors have been used by psychologists to explain a wide range of
phenomena. A great number of sociologists, psychologists and criminologist have studied the
circumstances and background that makes crime possible, in order to identify the main reasons and
causes of crime by looking at the learning process that generates crime. The use of IQ to explain
deviancy and crime has greatly influenced the debates of psychologists in this respect.
In this respect, studies like those carried out by Sutherland have looked at the role played by
psychological issues and disorders. The Differential Association Theory was a theory on crime and
deviancy developed by Edwin Sutherland during the thirties. Unlike other experts like Eleanor and
Sheldon Glueck, who stated that deviancy is generated by numerous factors, Sutherland

Pure Products Of America Essay
Anna Baldwin Dr. Shaheen Literary Analysis The pure products of America What is the American
Dream? In the poem, To Elsie, William Carlos Williams asks us the many questions lurking beneath
the pavement of our perception behind the American dream: what are the pure products of America
and what is the reality of this imagined concept? Through the use of texture and form, Williams
perfectly depicts with cynical aptitude the recycled degradation of society. In To Elsie, a depraved
America is personified through the history and conception of a woman named Elsie. The poem begins
in the muck and destitution of the lower working class. When a woman is raped, a child named Elsie
is born out of wedlock and that child grows to become a housemaid of a rich doctor s family. Almost
in cycle, she becomes the subject of prying eyes and perverse fantasies of rich men. Elsie is thus a
symbol of America used and corrupted by the debauched society we live in. From the very beginning,
the poem s diction is designed as a method of psychology to detach the mind of the reader from the
picture portrayed. In the introductory line, The pure products of America... go crazy (l.1, l.2), the mind
of the reader is manipulated by use of the words pure products. There is an emphasis of stressed R s
consonants, especially in the words products and crazy , giving essentially a very raw and industrial
grinding roll of the tongue. When one thinks of the word product, they are

Unnatural Consequences Of Natural Disasters
Unnatural Consequences of Natural Disasters The Fukushima disaster was a very heavily reported in
the news in the year 2011, but people s fears quickly died down on the issue as people went about
their daily lives. But should the issue have just disappeared from the public eye? It is my belief is that
the disaster has still not been adequately dealt with, and is a major issue now more than ever, that the
still prevalent after effects of the disaster should be common knowledge, and that better solutions
should be found to deal with the nuclear radiation. In the year 2011, tectonic plate movement
approximately 70 kilometers off the coast of the Oshika Peninsula in Japan caused an earthquake with
a 9.0 magnitude on the moment magnitude scale. The earthquake was the most powerful one to have
ever hit the coast of Japan, and the fourth most powerful earthquake ever recorded. The earthquake
itself lasted about six minutes, and damage from the earthquake itself was not substantial, due to being
active far from the coast. However, the earthquake triggered a powerful tsunami which was capable of
travelling approximately ten kilometers inland, destroying numerous homes and buildings, and killing
thousands. As of the year 2014, the Japanese National Police Agency reports that the tsunami itself
was responsible for 15,889 deaths and 6,152 injuries, as well as 1,148,067 buildings either damaged or
destroyed (Damage Situation and Police Countermeasures). Estimates on the insured losses

Environmental Issues Of Climate Change
Climate change refers to any changes in climatic conditions, for example, temperature, precipitation
and wind patterns, which last for at least great amount decades. Before the Industrial Revolution,
which took a place in the mid 18th century, climate change was mostly because of natural reasons
such as changes in the sun s activity and volcanic eruption. nevertheless, recent climate change is
extensively attributed to human activities, since the mid 20th century to change climate change worse.
All of these are putting the lives facing the threaten and need to be dealt with as soon as possible. Any
delay in dealing with today s environmental topics will make the problems even more difficult take
action,That is why environmental protection organization is utmost to concern the problem. In light of
the serious problems, world leader was working closely and more environmentally friendly future, by
encouraging conservation, developing sources of renewable energy, formulating environmental
policies, looking into the possibility new source energy to replace nuclear power to solve climate
change. Therefore, i disagree with it is too late to alleviate climate change problem.
The problem of climate change can be alleviated by three different levels, namely the individual level
and the social level. Many people put forward the idea that individuals can do little to tackle the
problem of climate change and consider that the planet is beyond repair. For a matter of fact

Jerry Goldsmith Accomplishments
Jerry Goldsmith is a well known name when it comes to the musical world. As an American composer
and conductor he has composed many pieces of music and films. His music is one of a kind it always
gets your attention. I chose Jerry Goldsmith because I enjoyed some of the films he created music for.
He was one of the best in his time. Jerry was born on February 10th 1929 in Pasadena California. His
original name was Jerrald King Goldsmith and was the son of Tessa Rappaport and Morris Goldsmith.
By the age of six his parents had him studying the piano and gave him lessons by the age of thirteen
with Polish Pianist Jakob Gimpel. He attended Dorsey High School. At the age of sixteen Alfred

He died from cancer on July 21, 2004, in Beverly Hills, California. Jerry completed his last score in
2003 for Looney Tunes: Back in Action. Throughout his entire career he was nominated for the
Academy Award eighteen times, the Grammy Award six times, and the Golden Globe Award four
times. Goldsmith also won an Oscar for his revolutionary score for The Omen and he received five
Emmy Awards. The few music films I enjoy by Goldsmith is Planet of the Apes, the Star Trek series
and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. In Planet of the Apes he did an amazing job with the piano giving
it much sound effects. This movie is one of the most memorable movie moments in the history of
cinema because of Jerry Goldsmith s ground breaking musical contribution. Goldsmith s musical
piece focuses on the drama that the apes experienced in modern day America, with both Zia and
Cornelius getting a delicate melody all to themselves. Planet of the Apes later became a sequel. Jerry
Goldsmith made many pieces of music for the Star Trek series. He composed Star Trek: The Motion
Picture, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Trek: First Contact with his son Joel Goldsmith, Star
Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis. I thought it was great that him and his son came together
and created an amazing piece. Their score to Star Trek: First Contact was amazing to me. It was a

Drug Law
1) An explanation will be made of the current legislation relating to the sale and possession of illicit
drugs. A discussion will then be carried out incorporating two of the moral issues associated with these
activities. Firstly, to what extent the laws relating to illicit drug use should promote good moral
behaviour and discourage immoral or harmful behaviour. Secondly, whether an individual should have
the liberty of choice to partake in drug related activities.
The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (MoDA) governs the sale and possession of illicit drugs in the United
Kingdom. This legislation was implemented following the signing of the Single Convention on
Narcotic Drugs 1961. The convention was established by the United Nations (UN) with the intention
to restrict the number of drug related offences. The MoDA 1971 classifies the offences on possession
and supply of drugs. The classification system places ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, could placing legal restrictions on the choice of engaging in such activities be seen as
an infringement of this liberty. Furthermore, to what extent should the law control an individual s
personal choice? These questions raise a similar response to what was established in the Hart Devlin
debate, which is, a principle of the law is to prevent harm arising to others. For that reason, it could be
argued that provided an individual s actions do not evoke harm on others, their choices should remain
without legal interference. However, the law principally endeavours to protect individuals from
harming others. The law can therefore justify limiting liberty of choice and individual freedom,
provided their actions would result in evoking harm to others. Cited OU (2016a 2). What often gets
forgotten is the indirect effect drug use has on families and other individuals

Addressing Cultural Competence For Improving Healthcare...
Addressing Cultural Competence for Improving Healthcare Quality Improving diversity in health care
setting is important in patient care. Cultural competence is approach to enhancing healthcare delivery
that has been promoted broadly in recent years. By definition cultural competence in health care
describes the ability of systems to provide care to patients with diverse values, beliefs and behaviors,
including tailoring delivery to meet patients social, cultural, and linguistic needs (Betancourt, Green,

care providers .As the United States becomes a more racially and ethnically diverse nation, healthcare
systems and providers need to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cultural competence plays a significant role in health care delivery. There is a lack of cultural
competence in the U.S. heath care. Despite current effort to deal with the issue, the problem still exist
and many patients are suffering from it impact. Many people are not being able to get adequate care
due to the lack of communication, languages, beliefs, values, perspective, and customs. Cultural
competence barriers are critical in reducing health disparity. Those barriers include: lack of diversity
in the healthcare settings, lack of system of care that can address the needs of various populations,
inadequate communication between healthcare providers and patients of distinct ethnic, racial,
language, belief, customs, religious, and cultural backgrounds. Lately many hospitals across the nation
took the imitative to start promoting cultural competence by implementing different programs that
help both the patient and health care providers. Cultural competence helps to improve access to high
quality of care that responds to the need of the patients. Lack of cultural competence between patients
and healthcare providers can impact the outcome of care provided. Furthermore, a lack of culturally
sensitive care can compromise the quality of the healthcare that the patient receives (Anderson,
Scrimshaw, Fullilove, Fielding, Normand, 2003). Healthcare providers have to understand they own
worldviews and the patients, while avoiding categorization of patients. In

Why Do You Say Moral I Say Huckleberry Finn
You Say Morals , I Say Ethics American author and humorist Mark Twain s The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn is often labeled the Great American Novel due not only to its tendency towards
Realism and its controversial issue of slavery, but also the ethical and moral challenges faced within
the book. Huckleberry Finn, as the novel progresses, physically and mentally grows due to the
circumstances, decisions, and obstacles he endures; with such experiences come the gain of moral
development. However, despite whatever moral maturity Huck undergoes, his ethics remain stagnant.
While there is an interchangeable use and common overlap between morals and ethics, they differ

His morals develop as his experiences end up changing his opinions. Many of Huck s original
principals evolve particularly his views of death and lying. At first, Huck s grasp of death is merely
the concept of death, and one he views as exciting. In chapter two, Huck and Tom Sawyer s gang
speak and encourage death and violence nonchalantly in fact, the boys order that should anyone desert
the gang, their family shall face the consequences of death as compensation of such a betrayal: they
said that every boy must have a family or somebody to kill, or else it wouldn t be fair and square for
the others...and so I offered them Miss Watson they could kill her (Twain, 8). However, Huck is later
so shaken by the horror and death that he witnessed during the Grangerford and Shepherdson murders
that he says I ain t a going to tell all that happened it would make me sick again if I was to do that. I
wished I hadn t ever come ashore that night to see such things. I ain t ever going to get shut of them
lots of times I dream about them (Twain, 115). Needless to say, Huck s tolerance and views of death
change dramatically and he now sees death as a horrible realty rather than a romanticized concept.
Huck s moral compass also develops in terms of the acceptability of deceit. Huckleberry lies viciously
to Jim at one point, for no reason other than for his own enjoyment: Well, this is too many for me, Jim.

A patent is a twenty year exclusive monopoly on the right to make, use and sell a qualifying invention.
This legal monopoly is considered a reward for the time and effort expended in creating the invention.
In return, the invention must be described in detail to the Patent Office, which publishes the
information, thus increasing the amount of technological knowledge available to the public. To obtain
a U.S. patent, an inventor must apply to the Patent Office and demonstrate that the invention is new
(as compared to prior technology), useful, and nonobvious. An invention is nonobvious if it is more
than a trivial, obvious next step in the advance of the technology. Software patents can be extremely
powerful economic tools. They can protect features of a program that cannot be protected under

Green Eggs And Ham By Dr. Seuss
Green Eggs and Ham
By Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss is about a little creature that calls himself Sam I am.
This creature throughout the books holds a platter of green eggs and ham in a platter trying to
convince this man who does not like him very much to try these green eggs and ham. The narrator
(who is not given a name in the book) continuously attempts to avoid him throughout his journey of
this world they live in, however, it did not stop Sam from following him with the platter in his hand.
Sam offers it to him with various servings and locations but the narrator does not budge and becomes
extremely irate. After countless attempts in trying to get the narrator to try the green eggs and ham, he
finally gives in at the end and begs Sam to leave him alone if he tries it. The narrator takes a bite and
miraculously loves these green eggs and ham and claims he would eat it with anyone or anywhere. By
the end, the narrator does not have so much of a dislike for Sam. Green Eggs and Ham is geared
toward children in the middle childhood age group. From researching online, it is most appropriate for
children from kindergarten to second grade. During each domain of development for this child,
specifically in the physical state, many changes are going on for the child. Much of the height and

A Research Study On Sordaria Fimicola
Introduction
Sordaria fimicola is a commonly studied species of fungi from the phylum of Ascomycota, commonly
known as the sac fungi or ascomycetes. Sordaria is more specifically studied in many mycology labs
to gain a greater understanding of the exceptional formation of as many as 8 haploid ascospores.
Normally Sordaria and other fungi exists as a haploid organism, but occasionally when the mycelium
from two individuals meet, a diploid zygote is formed. The diploid cell is formed by the fusion of the
haploid wildtype and one of the haploid mutant strain. After DNA replication, we are left with two
sister chromatids connected with a centromere. During meiosis a process called synapsis occurs.
Synapsis allows matching up of two homologous pairs of chromosomes prior to their segregation, and
possible genetic recombination amongst them by breaking and then reconnecting to the other
chromosome thus allowing for crossing over to occur. The further away a gene is from the centromere,
the more frequently the crossing over can occur. Both meiosis I and meiosis II generates four haploid
products, and after one further round of mitosis, eight products are formed and all retained as haploid
together forming a reproductive structure called a perithecium.
Genetic recombination can ultimately lead to the production of traits in the new generation that differ
from those found paternally or maternally. One of the benefits of synapsis (or chromosomal crossover)
is the formation of new

handbook was title How Girls Can Help Their Country . The copy and edition that will be referenced
in this paper is by W. J. Hoxie. (1972) Mr. Hoxie was an American naturalist. The handbook has six
parts: Summary, Camping, Home Life, Hospital Work, Patriotism and Organization. (Hoxie, 1972)
There are very interesting paragraphs on a variety of topics like Open Air Pursuits or Housewifery.
When reading the handbook, it is best to remember when the handbook was written and for whom.
There is more content in the handbook that is sustainable today than unrealistic. The opening forward
from Mrs. Gordon Low If character training and learning citizenship are necessary for boys, how
much more important it is that these principles should be instilled into the minds of girls who are
destined to be the mothers and guides of the next generation. .... Honor, duty, loyalty, kindness,
comradeship, purity, cheerfulness, and thrift, are the qualities it seeks to develop. To be a Girl Scout, a
girl should love and admire these things in other people, seek to attain them herself, and promote them
among her comrades, no in any priggish fashion, but through being loyal, honorable, kind and helpful,
in the home, in the school, in the field, on the playground, and in the Club Room. (Hoxie, 1972, p. vii)

The Taconic Orogeny In The Hudson Valley
The Taconic orogeny is evidenced in the Hudson Valley. This orogeny has formed by the convergence
of the Laurentia and the Shelburne arc. The Taconic orogeny has led to the formation of sedimentary
rocks that can be classified into autochthonous and allochthonous, whereas the Normanskill formation
is autochthonous, and five distinctive thrust slices from the low Taconic sequence are allochthonous.
Another feature is the Cortland Complex, which is a late Ordovician magmatic intrusion formed by
norite, gabbro, hornblende norite, monzodiorite, diorite, hornblende pyroxenite, and peridotite. The
sedimentary rocks in the Dutchess county and Westchester counties, New York, have suffered

commanders mentioned were ingenious, and this article discusses the tactics they employed: celerity
(speed/swiftness), shaping the enemy, and exploiting victory. Despite the genius of all three
commanders this article provided, I only focused on one, Napoleon Bonaparte, because he is my

Academy Awards got 43 million viewers, making it the biggest audience in ten years as well the most

by Patricia Arquette who proclaimed in her speech ... it s our time to have wage equality once and for
all. Not many celebrities have spoken out about the inequalities of women, especially in front of forty
three million viewers, but gender inequality is in urgent need of solving because it is directly linked to
poverty and the likelihood of never escaping it. Arquette s speech highlights the need for awareness.
Every day millions of women suffer from gender inequality, if gender equality is successful, then less
women will be in poverty, overall helping. In order to fully understand why women are in poverty, one
has to understand the progression of inequality from the 1800 s on. Before women started working,
they ran the households or, if unmarried, became school teachers. Women were dependent on men and
confined to their homes, while being responsible for cleaning the house, taking care of children,
cooking, all the responsibilities of the household as well as keeping their spouses happy. Women were

Fourth Wall
It is interesting to think about the relationship between the audience and the performance/performer
when it comes to watching a play. The borderline of what the audience is supposed to do and not do
when watching a performance it depends on the type of the theater that spectator is watching. It is why
some theaters establish a fourth wall, in order to show that the borderline between the audience and
the performance and it is a borderline that helps to isolate the audience from the
performance/performer. However, the idea of a fourth wall does not fulfill every spectator s
expectation of enjoying a performance in the theater. Therefore, there are different types of ways to
approach theater. Three Dramatic theorists that reveal different visions in regard to the relationship
between the audience and the performance are Emile Zola, Bertolt Brecht and Augusto Boal. In ...

Those approaches could be through Zola s naturalism isolating the audience from the performance
with the use of a fourth wall. Brecht s believe of alienation between the performer and performance,
but not from the audience. Boal s invisible theater in which the fourth wall is banished and the
audience is as equal as the performers in the performance. Some spectators that are less introvert
might believe that a fourth wall is a great idea for preventing them to interact with other people.
Others, like me, love the idea of invisible theater and make the audience just as much of important as
the performers in the performance. However, I totally believe that the audience is important and with
no audience there s not theater. I agree with the idea of including audience to the performance and
making them feel that they are part of the world of the performance. But it is why they re different

Free Will In Julius Caesar Research Paper
Throughout Shakespeare s Julius Caesar a series of events portray a path that leads to Caesar s destiny
being controlled by fate. Some may believe Caesar s destiny is controlled by Caesar and his own free
will since he makes many of his own decisions. Those people are incorrect for the reasoning that no
matter what Caesar or anyone else does, he would still end with the same destiny. He would end up in
the same place as he would even if he had not questioned anything, or he had questioned everyone and
everything more, Caesar would still end up being stabbed in the back by enemies and old friends.
Although some think it is fate, others believe it was free will that controlled Caesar s destiny since he
made all of the choices on his own. Those believing that Caesar chose to refuse the crown three times
say Caesar s destiny is in his own hands. Ay, marry, was t, and he put it by thrice, every time gentler
than the last; (I, i, 225). By saying this, Caesar was making a decision on whether or not he wanted to
rule Rome. Some say his decision will decide his destiny, however no matter what Caesar does, he
will still be following his fate. Before his trip to the capitol, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

James Berger s After The End
Reading Response on James Berger s monograph After the End James Berger s After the End:
Representations of Post Apocalypse gives a detailed and broad overview of specific representations of
post apocalypses in American culture. In the three parts of the book, Berger focuses on the
problematic of post apocalyptic representation, representations of the Holocaust and post apocalyptic
phenomena in recent American culture. In the first part, he examines post apocalyptic representation
as a paradoxical, oxymoronic discourse (19) and connects apocalypse with the idea of trauma,
describing these post apocalyptic representations as symptoms of historical trauma. Additional, he
includes the figures of the angel and the survivor in his analysis as post traumatic [and] post

He uses two novels to better interpret how the traumas of the holocaust are anchored in western
societies and to depict how the end would look like, namely like apocalypses that already occurred. In
the third part, Berger turns to more recent post apocalyptic phenomena of American culture, analyzing
Reaganism as the most conspicuous and politically powerful instance of [...] American post
apocalypticism (134). Reaganism sees America as an already achieved utopia, meaning the apocalypse
has already happened and therefore also traumas were generated, which were largely disavowed.
However, Berger puts the 1960s in contrast to Reaganism as apocalyptic because of their critique of
American history (cf. 140) and additional depicts the social disintegration of this period as its main
trauma (156). The analysis of two post apocalyptic novels concerning their historical traumas
underlines his findings of the third part and give evidence of, nostalgia, the repetition of traumas and
social movements. In the epilogue, Berger finally concludes that the process of rebuilding traumas
continues in American post apocalyptic culture and

Group Development Paper
Group Development Outside of the study of leadership, the words group and team are often
synonymous. When applying these words to the study of Full Range Leadership Development, these
two words fall on opposite ends of the synergy spectrum. Sosik and Jung (2010) explain that in a
group, individuals are focused in a self centered manner; the completion of their work is focused
heavily on the good of the individual and there is not much consideration for how their work impacts
the overall performance of the group (p. 305). On a team, there is a much stronger sense of
accountability and ownership regarding individual performance and its impact on the work of the
whole (Sosik Jung, 2010, p. 305). According to Sosik and Jung (2010), ...Team members believe that
they not only are accountable for their own performance, but also hold mutual accountability for
collective objectives. They develop a high level of trust, and every member encourages others to look

Creating Social Connection
In the article Creating social connection through inferential reproduction: Loneliness and perceived

three studies. The purpose of the studies were to examine if loneliness was significantly correlated
with the anthropomorphic mental state, if social disconnection increase belief in some religious agents
or actions, and whether the likelihood of attributing humanlike mental states or traits to pets would be
greater among people induced to feel social disconnection than among people not so induced.
Researchers made three hypotheses, one for each study. The first hypothesis was that loneliness was
significantly correlated with the anthropomorphic mental state ratings, the second hypothesis was that
participants in the disconnected condition reported stronger belief in supernatural agents than
participants in the other two conditions combined. The last hypothesis was that participants in the

The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia
The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act
And the No Child Left Behind Act
Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law or mandate, states
and local governments must comply Federal mandates are requirements that the national government
imposes on state and local governments. Following these requirements are often a condition for the
state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these
mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and local
governments without the Federal government providing funds are called unfunded mandates (Losco,
Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Two prevalent mandates the state of
Virginia must comply with is the Americans with Disabilities Act and the No Child Left Behind Act.
Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a
disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has reformed its public
education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was put into place in 1990 to ensure
that people could not discriminate against those with disabilities. At the end of every war, there were
newly disabled American veterans that wanted improved civil rights and proper accommodations for
the disabled that needed them. In the 1960 s, veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the

be something you chose based on how good the school is. To fix this problem you could either have a
universal tax that gives money to all schools in America this way schools have to give everyone who

Let s Discuss Aristotle s Views
First, let s discuss Aristotle s views. As an example of how he takes one word and states its meaning in
a central way, proving that one word although it may have more than one meaning to be true has to be
used in the right context. What I mean by this is, if you take the word hot for example, the temperature
can be hot, touch can feel hot and taste can be hot or some people prefer to say spicy. But in this case
all these things use the term hot but have a different meaning pertaining to the same word. It is how
you use it that then creates its true meaning in your statement. This then, shows that this terms
meaning can be broken down to have more than one function but still hold its own essence of its
created state. Next we have the teaching of things being either separable, individual, or neither. He
states that in order for something to hold its own characteristics it needs to be determined as having its
own existence without being dependent of another to be then called Separable. So for example, a shirt
is made up of many strings of a certain type of fabric, whether it be silk or cotton, that patch of strings
if it is removed from that shirt, it is still a piece of that shirt regardless of if it is all together or not. It
was stitched the same way as the shirt and is still of the same color and fabric whether all together or
not. That patch is still of that shirt. Yes, it may be separate at this moment but it did not lose its initial
character just now is no longer

  • 2. Corporate Income Tax The federal corporate income tax was created in 1909 with a rate of 1% for all businesses who had an income above the line of $5,000. The tax rate has been as high as 52.8% in 1969 and has been divided into different rates for different income levels. Today, the federal corporate income tax rate is a uniform rate of 35% for companies who have an income of over $18.3 million. Throughout history, people have debated whether lowering the federal corporate income tax rate will result in job creation. Although lowering the tax rate might promote job creation within the country instead of job creation overseas, support more company re investment in research and development, and allow consumers to save more; lowering the federal corporate income ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, Ireland lowered its corporate tax rate to 12.5%, which got the economy booming. The country s gross domestic product rate grew at a rate of around 26.3%. Ireland s low corporate tax rate attracted successful foreign companies to invest in Ireland. For example, American companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Apple all have subsidiaries in Ireland to take advantage of Ireland s low corporate tax rate (Semeuls). However, the low corporate tax rate was not the only reason the country had flourished. There were several other factors that helped boost Ireland s economy. One of them included Ireland joining the European market in the 1990s, which allowed goods to flow freely across the countries in the European Union. Soon, Ireland became an entry point within Europe and large corporations started to use Ireland to manufacture goods and sell the goods to other European countries without the attachment of any tariffs. In addition to Ireland joining the European market, Ireland attracted many corporations to its country because it was primarily an English speaking country. This helped in the ease of communication between the Irish government and the foreign corporations. Another factor that helped boost Ireland s overall economy was that the Irish government passed a number of educational reforms which led to a significant number of educated graduates that came out of Irish schools (Semeuls). In the 1990s and 2000s, Ireland became a highly attractive country for international companies because it acted as an easy trade center within the European Single Market. Therefore, the low corporate tax rates was not the only reason Ireland s economy boomed, but also a combination of factors, which was very specific to the country of Ireland and that could not be copied by other countries, all came together to ... • 3. What Is Ifemelu Moving Back To America In Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel Americanah, Is about a woman who is from Nigeria where she moves to America and decides to move back to Nigeria after many years of being in America. Claim statement being Ifemelu s move back to Nigeria after many years of experience in America has changed her cultural identity. The beginning of the chapter at the moment Ifemelu arrived back in her homeland of America in Nigeria. At first Lagos assaulted her; the sun dazed haste, the yellow buses full of squashed limbs, the sweating hikers racing cars, the advertisements on hulking billboards (others scrawled on walls PLUMBER CALL 080177777) and the heaps of rubbish that rose on the roadsides like a taunt. (475 Adichie). She feels very drawn to America ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She no longer has or wants to ask Ranyinudo for advice in going to the market when she felt super uncomfortable doing, and she is used to waking up to the sound of the screaming peacocks. The speedboat was gliding on foaming water, past beaches of ivory sand, and trees bursting, well fed green. Ifemelu was laughing/ she caught herself in mid laughter, and looked at her present, an orange life jacket strapped around her, a ship in the graying distance, her friends in their sunglasses, on their way to Priye s friend s beach house, where they would grill meat and race barefoot. She thought: I m really home, I m home (506 Adichie) Connecting to the claim, Ifemelu emotional identity sets back to her past towards her future. Here it states that Ifemelu feels home again, she feels more comfortable with where she originally is from as in her home country, instead of having an American culture from America, she starts to actually settle in and enjoy herself again like before she moved from Nigeria to America. This supports the claim of identity because Ifemelu shifted from being offended when she came back to Nigeria from America and then she then started to try to get settled in naturally by just letting the days pass ... • 4. Costco HBS Case Study 2: Costco Wholesale Corporation Financial Statement Analysis (A) Lee Hathaway MMS 185: Managerial Finance Professor Veraldi September 27, 2007 It is important for stockholders to continuously re evaluate their investments. Although some investors do this more frequently and thoroughly than others, the majority of shareholders do so at least once each year. Therefore, Torres desire to update her analysis in order to determine whether Costco was still operating efficiently makes perfect sense. After thorough examination, my analysis proves that Costco remains one of the industry s leading competitors and there seems to be no reason for Torres to sell her shares as long as she wishes to retain holdings of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a percentage of net sales, Costco s operating income rose from 2.70% in 1997 to 2.91% in 2001. This is a positive factor, meaning that the firm became more efficient. Another interesting trend which demonstrates growth is the rise in interest income and other expenses from 0.07% of sales in 1997 to 0.13% in 2001 on the income sheet. Typically, this value fluctuates each year with the amount of cash a company keeps on hand. Costco s increase suggests that the company either increased its amount of short term deposit investments held, switched its funds to money market funds, savings accounts, or CDs with higher yielding interest rates, or their existing funds experienced a growth in interest rates. Moving onto the income statement portion of the common size financial statements, an increase in cash and equivalents (3.20% of total assets in 1997 to 5.97% in 2001) and receivables (2.69% of total assets in 1997 to 3.22% in 2001) coupled with a decrease in inventory signify Costco s improving efficiency over this five year period. It is important to mention two points. First, the decrease in inventory as a percentage of total assets from 30.8% in 1997 to 27.14% in 2001 signifies an increase in the turnover rate, perhaps due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Management Dilemma In The NCR Country Club ( NCRCC ) When it comes to the formulation of the management research questions, there is a need to follow a hierarchy which determines the direction of acquiring a solution. Important to note is that a management research seeks to investigate problems and follow a step by step procedure in finding the respective solutions. On the other hand, managers have the task of providing scientific help in the decision making process. Therefore, it is imperative for one to take into consideration the available alternatives available to an organization as solutions. Subsequently, following a management research question hierarchy will enable them to conduct an adequate evaluation. Considering the case of NCR Country Club (NCRCC) the steps involved require us to establish the management dilemma, the management question, the research question, the investigative question, the measurement question, and the management decision (Schindler, 2001). Management Dilemma The management dilemma focuses on the issues that have resulted in the current problem of an organization (Hicks, Dattero Galup, 2006). In particular, the common factors surround the environment and how it has contributed to the problem. A management dilemma in the NCR Country Club is the matter related to the satisfaction of the members and non members when it comes to the provision of facilities such as a swimming pool, availability of superior dining services among other issues (Schindler, 2001). • 6. The IQ Debate Essay Intelligence can be defined in many different ways. This concept has been the focus of numerous studies and investigations by psychologists and other scientific experts. Intelligence can be the mental ability to reason, plan ahead, understand a wide range of complex issues and learn from past experiences (Gottfredson, 1997). Intelligence is the resultant of the process of acquiring, storing in memory, retrieving, combining, comparing, and using in new contexts information and conceptual skills (Humphreys, 1979) Intelligence is commonly measured through the use of a number of scales and quantitative measures, like the Intelligence Quotient (IQ), developed by Alfred Binet in early 20th century to identify which French children needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Far right commentators generally support this argument, which has been supported by the findings of a number of researches, including those led by Professor Robert Plomin (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/850358.stm). They have also utilised these arguments to explain a wide range of social phenomena, including crime. Other experts have strongly disagreed with this view, arguing that intelligence levels are directly related to situational factors. Environmental factors like the quality of the education system can have a very significant influence in the development of intelligence. Situational factors have been used by psychologists to explain a wide range of phenomena. A great number of sociologists, psychologists and criminologist have studied the circumstances and background that makes crime possible, in order to identify the main reasons and causes of crime by looking at the learning process that generates crime. The use of IQ to explain deviancy and crime has greatly influenced the debates of psychologists in this respect. In this respect, studies like those carried out by Sutherland have looked at the role played by psychological issues and disorders. The Differential Association Theory was a theory on crime and deviancy developed by Edwin Sutherland during the thirties. • 7. Pure Products Of America Essay Anna Baldwin Dr. Shaheen Literary Analysis The pure products of America What is the American Dream? In the poem, To Elsie, William Carlos Williams asks us the many questions lurking beneath the pavement of our perception behind the American dream: what are the pure products of America and what is the reality of this imagined concept? Through the use of texture and form, Williams perfectly depicts with cynical aptitude the recycled degradation of society. In To Elsie, a depraved America is personified through the history and conception of a woman named Elsie. The poem begins in the muck and destitution of the lower working class. When a woman is raped, a child named Elsie is born out of wedlock and that child grows to become a housemaid of a rich doctor s family. Almost in cycle, she becomes the subject of prying eyes and perverse fantasies of rich men. Elsie is thus a symbol of America used and corrupted by the debauched society we live in. From the very beginning, the poem s diction is designed as a method of psychology to detach the mind of the reader from the picture portrayed. In the introductory line, The pure products of America... go crazy (l.1, l.2), the mind of the reader is manipulated by use of the words pure products. There is an emphasis of stressed R s consonants, especially in the words products and crazy , giving essentially a very raw and industrial grinding roll of the tongue. When one thinks of the word product, they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unnatural Consequences Of Natural Disasters Unnatural Consequences of Natural Disasters The Fukushima disaster was a very heavily reported in the news in the year 2011, but people s fears quickly died down on the issue as people went about their daily lives. But should the issue have just disappeared from the public eye? It is my belief is that the disaster has still not been adequately dealt with, and is a major issue now more than ever, that the still prevalent after effects of the disaster should be common knowledge, and that better solutions should be found to deal with the nuclear radiation. In the year 2011, tectonic plate movement approximately 70 kilometers off the coast of the Oshika Peninsula in Japan caused an earthquake with a 9.0 magnitude on the moment magnitude scale. The earthquake was the most powerful one to have ever hit the coast of Japan, and the fourth most powerful earthquake ever recorded. The earthquake itself lasted about six minutes, and damage from the earthquake itself was not substantial, due to being active far from the coast. However, the earthquake triggered a powerful tsunami which was capable of travelling approximately ten kilometers inland, destroying numerous homes and buildings, and killing thousands. As of the year 2014, the Japanese National Police Agency reports that the tsunami itself was responsible for 15,889 deaths and 6,152 injuries, as well as 1,148,067 buildings either damaged or destroyed (Damage Situation and Police Countermeasures). Throughout his entire career he was nominated for the Academy Award eighteen times, the Grammy Award six times, and the Golden Globe Award four times. Goldsmith also won an Oscar for his revolutionary score for The Omen and he received five Emmy Awards. The few music films I enjoy by Goldsmith is Planet of the Apes, the Star Trek series and Looney Tunes: Back in Action. In Planet of the Apes he did an amazing job with the piano giving it much sound effects. This movie is one of the most memorable movie moments in the history of cinema because of Jerry Goldsmith s ground breaking musical contribution. Goldsmith s musical piece focuses on the drama that the apes experienced in modern day America, with both Zia and Cornelius getting a delicate melody all to themselves. Planet of the Apes later became a sequel. Jerry Goldsmith made many pieces of music for the Star Trek series. He composed Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Star Trek: First Contact with his son Joel Goldsmith, Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis. A discussion will then be carried out incorporating two of the moral issues associated with these activities. Firstly, to what extent the laws relating to illicit drug use should promote good moral behaviour and discourage immoral or harmful behaviour. Secondly, whether an individual should have the liberty of choice to partake in drug related activities. The Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 (MoDA) governs the sale and possession of illicit drugs in the United Kingdom. This legislation was implemented following the signing of the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961. Consequently, could placing legal restrictions on the choice of engaging in such activities be seen as an infringement of this liberty. Furthermore, to what extent should the law control an individual s personal choice? These questions raise a similar response to what was established in the Hart Devlin debate, which is, a principle of the law is to prevent harm arising to others. For that reason, it could be argued that provided an individual s actions do not evoke harm on others, their choices should remain without legal interference. However, the law principally endeavours to protect individuals from harming others. The law can therefore justify limiting liberty of choice and individual freedom, provided their actions would result in evoking harm to others. Cited OU (2016a 2). Sordaria is more specifically studied in many mycology labs to gain a greater understanding of the exceptional formation of as many as 8 haploid ascospores. Normally Sordaria and other fungi exists as a haploid organism, but occasionally when the mycelium from two individuals meet, a diploid zygote is formed. The diploid cell is formed by the fusion of the haploid wildtype and one of the haploid mutant strain. After DNA replication, we are left with two sister chromatids connected with a centromere. During meiosis a process called synapsis occurs. Synapsis allows matching up of two homologous pairs of chromosomes prior to their segregation, and possible genetic recombination amongst them by breaking and then reconnecting to the other chromosome thus allowing for crossing over to occur. The further away a gene is from the centromere, the more frequently the crossing over can occur. Both meiosis I and meiosis II generates four haploid products, and after one further round of mitosis, eight products are formed and all retained as haploid together forming a reproductive structure called a perithecium. Genetic recombination can ultimately lead to the production of traits in the new generation that differ from those found paternally or maternally. One of the benefits of synapsis (or chromosomal crossover) is the formation of new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Creating Social Connection In the article Creating social connection through inferential reproduction: Loneliness and perceived agency in gadgets, gods, and greyhounds by Epley, Akalis, Waytz Cacioppo the researchers conducted three studies. The purpose of the studies were to examine if loneliness was significantly correlated with the anthropomorphic mental state, if social disconnection increase belief in some religious agents or actions, and whether the likelihood of attributing humanlike mental states or traits to pets would be greater among people induced to feel social disconnection than among people not so induced. Researchers made three hypotheses, one for each study. The first hypothesis was that loneliness was significantly correlated with the anthropomorphic mental state ratings, the second hypothesis was that participants in the disconnected condition reported stronger belief in supernatural agents than participants in the other two conditions combined. The last hypothesis was that participants in the disconnected condition were more likely to select one of the three social connection traits than were participants in the other two conditions combined. After completing the methodology, it was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the article by Epley, Akalis, Waytz Cacioppo, it can be concluded that there is a relationship to fill the gap of human social connection. What did the lonely human do to humanize their pet? This could help explain the relationship between the pet and human. Perhaps some participants are just normal pet owners, and some take their pet t work, dress them up in human clothes and even read them bedtime stories. Understanding this information will allow us to know how far a person is willing to go to fill the gap. To expand even further upon the idea researchers could examine the cause of loneliness and divide the participants into categories to draw research based ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Effects Of Federal Mandates On Virginia The Effects of Federal Mandates on Virginia: Americans with Disabilities Act And the No Child Left Behind Act Because of the Supremacy Clause, when the National government makes a new law or mandate, states and local governments must comply Federal mandates are requirements that the national government imposes on state and local governments. Following these requirements are often a condition for the state or local governments to receive grants and financial support for various programs. Many of these mandates come with money attached, but some do not. Requirements imposed on State and local governments without the Federal government providing funds are called unfunded mandates (Losco, Baker 53.) Virginia is affected by many Federal Mandates. Two prevalent mandates the state of Virginia must comply with is the Americans with Disabilities Act and the No Child Left Behind Act. Virginia has complied with these mandates by creating a system to determine if a person has a disability, providing accommodations to those with disabilities, and Virginia has reformed its public education system. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was put into place in 1990 to ensure that people could not discriminate against those with disabilities. At the end of every war, there were newly disabled American veterans that wanted improved civil rights and proper accommodations for the disabled that needed them. In the 1960 s, veterans from World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Out Of State Tuition Out of state tuition shouldn t limit people who seek a better education. When looking for collages to go to people tend to stay in state because the cost is cheaper. What is the actual tax dollars that go to the in state students? Schools collage shouldn t be limited to just your state based on cost but it should be something you chose based on how good the school is. To fix this problem you could either have a universal tax that gives money to all schools in America this way schools have to give everyone who wants to go to their school pay the same cost. The other idea I have to fix this problem is to use the money the schools get already and have everyone take a cut this would increase instate tuition but also eliminate out of state tuition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As we ve seen there are schools that do so but not too many are willing to follow that. Another answer to this problem is scholarships and grants. But not all of us are the next Einstein or Coble Bryant. And for those individuals there are options for them. But for us the few that are trying to strive for improvement for those that have yet to prove the worth in this world can there more scholarships that can be won by us students who are not the best of the best but want to learn. Cheaper tuition, more school scholarships, easier scholarships, and my personal favorite grants are ways we can make education more affordable to the average college student. I just wish that we dint live in a world where just the clearly successful make it easy. but for those like us who have to pay full price it hurts, but hopefully collages will eventually give up on go out of their way to help stunts go to their schools whether that be a lower the price or giving more scholarships to the regular ... • 38. Let s Discuss Aristotle s Views First, let s discuss Aristotle s views. As an example of how he takes one word and states its meaning in a central way, proving that one word although it may have more than one meaning to be true has to be used in the right context. What I mean by this is, if you take the word hot for example, the temperature can be hot, touch can feel hot and taste can be hot or some people prefer to say spicy. But in this case all these things use the term hot but have a different meaning pertaining to the same word. It is how you use it that then creates its true meaning in your statement. This then, shows that this terms meaning can be broken down to have more than one function but still hold its own essence of its created state. Next we have the teaching of things being either separable, individual, or neither. He states that in order for something to hold its own characteristics it needs to be determined as having its own existence without being dependent of another to be then called Separable. So for example, a shirt is made up of many strings of a certain type of fabric, whether it be silk or cotton, that patch of strings if it is removed from that shirt, it is still a piece of that shirt regardless of if it is all together or not. It was stitched the same way as the shirt and is still of the same color and fabric whether all together or not. That patch is still of that shirt. Yes, it may be separate at this moment but it did not lose its initial character just now is no longer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Tesla Merger Essay This paper explores the merger of Tesla and SolarCity. Tesla is the most successful electric car company and has won multiple awards for its s product offerings. SolarCity is the largest residential and commercial solar installer in the United States. Tesla is a successful car company but is still plagued with financial concerns due to its upcoming mass market car, the Model 3, and its battery plant, the Gigafactory. SolarCity has its own financial woes as last year it posted revenues of just $1.5 billion while amassing $3 billion in debt. These financial troubles have investors worried. Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and Chairman of SolarCity, believes that by leveraging SolarCity s installation network and Tesla s global retail footprint, that the merger will create significant value for its shareholders. Synergies of the merger will allow Tesla to achieve a competitive advantage and lead the way in clean energy product innovation much in the way Tesla has done with electric cars. Investors and analyst are also worried about corporate governance concerns as Elon Musk is the CEO of Tesla as well as the chairman of SolarCity. Lyndon Rive, SolarCity CEO, is also the cousin of Musk. Time will tell if Tesla and SolarCity can successfully merge and create the world s first vertically integrated energy company. Theory of Operation AIM My section included researching indirect current sensing methods that suit the overhead transmission line environment. The device will be used to capture and pick up fault signatures which will be utilised by lines companies for fault detection. Learn Research and design an indirect current sensor Sensor must be able to clamp onto overhead lines Research faults expected on network Provide a suitable signal for SenSys s RIO Analogue to Digital Converter (ADC) Current limitations Research was carried out on what systems and technology is used for current sensing. Learning how these systems work and their limitations was takin into consideration to ensure an effective design could fill the limitations that traditional systems had. Fault Expectation (1 Page) Since the majority of faults found on the distribution are transient faults, it is important to design the system to be able to capture these faults. The most common transients on Orion s network are phase the earth faults. When the fault occurs the currents flow into the system and to the fault then the ground. Even though the transients are short and may last only a few cycles this may cause damage to the system of danger public. An important factor that can influence the transient characterises of the fault is the grounding system. There are three basic types of grounding systems, these include the following: Unearthed Neutral System Solid Neutral Earthed System Impedance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
