Labour Day In William Inge s Summer Brave
An afternoon picnic with family and friends appears to be the perfect recipe for a Labour Day
celebration, but a handsome stranger and a few swigs of whiskey quickly throw a small town
into disarray. Complete with a dash of Southern charm, All Saints Catholic High School delivered
an enjoyable rendition of Summer Brave. Written by William Inge, Summer Brave is the revised
edition of his Pulitzer Prize winning play Picnic. It chronicles the happenings of a small town in
1950s Kansas, at the centre of which is Madge Owens, more notably known as the prettiest girl in
town. When a young drifter, Hal Carter, arrives to visit an old friend, Madge cannot help but be
intrigued by this charismatic man. As Labour Day weekend unfolds, love and heartbreak

Benefits Of Pet Ownership Essay
amp;#8220;I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self contained, ;
writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture
throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is
reported that 58% of U.S. householdshave at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children
(Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and
veterinary care, but apparently petsgive back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet
companionship offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades
have scientists become interested in the benefits of pets on human health... Show more content on

A recent study at UCLA found that 37% of Medicare patients who owned pets visited their doctor
less frequently and seemed to tolerate stressful events better (Whitaker). These are only the physical
benefits.
amp;#8220;Being with animals. . .is just good for our hearts and souls. We . . .know that
animals can lower blood pressure and help us live longer. But there is a whole other spiritual
level there, ; writes Susan McElroy, author of Animals as Teachers and Healers (Simross 15).
The psychological benefits include reduced mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of
depression, and higher morale (Schellenberg 2). Serving as an effective stress reducer,
amp;#8220;stroking an animal is calming, ; says UCLA psychologist Dr. Judith Siegel (Witherell
77). Patients who watched a fish tank before going into surgery did as well as those who
underwent hypnosis to reduce anxiety and discomfort (Schellenberg 2). The benefits are obvious no
matter if the animal has four legs, wings, fins, or even scales.
Why such beneficial effects? amp;#8220;Ironically, the most common reason people give for not
having pets having to care for them is one of the reasons pets improve health. Pets require that you
amp;#8216;extend amp;#8217; yourself when you normally wouldn amp;#8217;t, and for people
who are ill or just want better health, pets turn them into amp;#8216;care

Paternity Leave
Most professional companies and organizations offer mothers paid time off. Usually, this
maternity leave is six weeks. New fathers, however, don t often get this same privilege, which is
unfortunate. In order for a father to better support the mother of their child and/or personally care
for their child, a father should be allowed a paid paternityleave. Many would argue that not
mandating paternity leave is serving menand their careers far better than if the policy were to be
established. The opposing side believes that if the creation of paternity leave becomes, mandatory,
it will do more harm than good especially for the men who don t become fathers. Everyone so
often starts off by saying why reward fathers, they didn t go through the... Show more content on

Men are needed for the creation of and the It s important to give the men time to bond with their
child, especially because they often get left out of the process. When the leave becomes
mandatory it can bring men a sense of worth and usefulness, but when it s not mandatory one
could begin to feel as if they don t belong or even aren t important enough to help raise a child.
Men who get the privilege to take leave get more satisfaction from the time spent with their child
or children. But paternity leave is a privilege and not a right, so the men who don t have the
liberty to do so aren t bad fathers, but the leaves fathers take during their child s young stage
serves their long term relationship well because they become more satisfied with it and are more
likely to remain involved. Mandating paternity leave serves children well. The children get more
time spent with their fathers which have been proven to be a significant impact on a happier
child, healthier, few behavioral problems, greater self esteem, and even tend to do better at
school. The long term relationship with a father and child is somewhat depended on mandating
paternity leave. In the academic journal, Paternity Leave and Fathers Involvement with their
Young Children, it states that If fathers who take a longer leave continue to be more involved,
and if such involvement proves to be beneficial to children, then a case could potentially be made
to provide more access to paternity leave to new fathers in the US (Nepomnyaschy and ). This
shows that work needs to be done so that the idea of paternity leave can be a norm in

Television Is A Key Component Of Our Daily Lives
Introduction
A television is a machine with a screen that is capable of displaying images. Televisions receive
broadcast signals and turn them into pictures and sound. Although debated, the TV is often
credited as being invented by Vladimir Zworykin a Russian born American who worked for
Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a boy in Beaver City, Utah. Vladimir held the patent
for the TV, but it was Farnsworth who was the first person to first successfully transmit a TV signal
on September 7, 1927.
The television is a key component of our daily lives and is a marvel of engineering and utilisation of
technology. Smartly incorporating complex electronic theories and concepts, the televisions has
faced many developments and adaptations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A pixel is defined in television terms as the smallest area of a television image that can be shown
within the parameters of the certain system. This process is accomplished by firstly analysing
the image by using a photoelectric device in a series of horizontal scans from the top to the
bottom of the image to create an electrical signal in which the colour and brightness values of the
individual picture elements are represented as voltage levels of the respective video waveform;
secondly, by transmitting the same respective values of the picture elements in a sequence as
voltage levels of a video signal; and finally by reproducing the image of the original scene in a
video signal display of parallel scanning lines on a viewing screen(Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu,
2015) (wiseGEEK, 2015). The most primitive form of televisions relied on a cathode ray tube to
produce images, and operated with an analog signal(Lapin, 2015). As technology has developed
over time and broadcast signals transitioned from analog to digital, LCD (liquid crystal display)
and plasma televisions were created. These TVs are more compact, are flatter and have crisper
pictures than their cathode ray counterparts because the bulky tube is removed, and in its stead they
use a thin grid of pixels to create the images (Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015)(Computerhope.com,
2015) (Lapin, 2015)

How Youth Workers Can Help With The Issue Of Young Offenders
This essay will examine how youth workers can help with the issue of young offenders, with the
use of relevant policies along with historical and current context to show how. It will also point out
key policies and legislative frameworks linked to young offenders and how these policies promote
social justice and equality.
The term young offender refers to a person (male or female between the ages of 10 17) who has
been convicted of or cautioned about a criminal offence. The term young offender is often used
because the criminal justice system deals with young people who offend in a different way to
adults who offend (ACS Distance Education 2011). Crime is a widespread issue in society and
criminal activities are beginning to get worse. Along with that a lot of young people are now
getting involved in criminal activities. Statistics show that there were over 47,000 criminals
between the ages of 16 21 committing crimes (Whitehead 2014). There are many reason why
young people choose to commit crimes, these would include problems at home, peer pressure,
boredom, poverty etc. it was found that poverty is one of the main reasons that young people turn
to crime due to job cuts and other factors (Association of Chief Officers of Probation 1993). A
report was carried out in Southmead and it showed that young people were the only group that
were identified as criminals (Brent 2006:26). The main conflict between adults and young people
seems to be based around behaviour in public.

The role of Attorney General was established in 1789 by the Judiciary Act. The role has been

Sessions is a huge climate skeptic. He believes the current climate science is all deliberate
misinformation . In a 2014 speech in the Senate he said, I don t know we know enough now to
answer this question conclusively either way, but there s been a lot of exaggeration, there s
been a lot of hype, and people are feeling the crunch already in their electric bills ... in our effort
to stop storms that don t seem to be going down, or to stop temperatures that don t seem to be

countries that seem to be finding more and more resources in their search to go green . This
could be potentially destructive. Sessions is also known to have joked about the Ku Klux Klan, or
KKK, with former colleagues, even saying he supported them. However, he supported them until
he found out they smoked marijuana. This suggests he supports the overall ideology of white
supremacy. If Sessions does in fact not support weed, this could hinder the legalization of
marijuana in the United States, which keeps the U.S. behind other countries that have already
legalized and promoted the recreational use of marijuana to partake in all the benefits of it. Jeff
Sessions has also taken controversial stances on many important topics. Jeff Sessions has voted yes

Descriptive Essay About Snowboarding
Ever since I can just about remember I have been Snowboarding. Well first I started off skiing,
but I wanted more of a challenge. What got me started was my older brother Daniel when he
tried it for the first time, he didn t stick with it because he hit his head to many times (I think he
is just a pansy). Him and his friends use to call me hobo Joe, which I kind of liked cause it
rhymes with my name Joe and It gave me attention. We would always go to this little ski resort
about 20 minutes away from our house and it was a blast, I loved it. I didn t have any friends to go
with at the time so I just tagged alot with my older brother which was fine enough.
I was 12 years old when we first started planning our trip to go to a resort in Colorado, I
remember sitting up at night talking with my older brother, counting down the days till we finally
got to leave for our skiing adventure. And to top it all off some of daniel s friends were coming
along with our cousin Jodi and oldest brother nick. Even though Daniel and his friends tease me at
times I still find it a lot of fun to hang out with them.
Dad how much longer till we finally get to leave? I would ask my dad with urgency, not
understanding at the time that asking ever couple of hours would not make the departure come
any faster. Rolling his eyes my dad would answer This is the fifth time today you asked that
question, we are leaving tomorrow morning . Dancing down the hall I hurry to my room that I
share with Daniel. When I approached the door I could heard these terrible retching noises
coming from behind the door. I peek inside the door to see Daniel with his face in the waste
basket. My heart starts to sink, knowing that if Daniel is too sick to travel then we weren t going
to be able to leave for this trip. I go tell my parents and then trudgingly flop down on the couch
knowing I wasn t going to get very good sleep tonight.
I wake up messaging my neck trying to get the knot that had developed there overnight due to my
sleeping arrangements. Sleepy, I walk to the bathroom and start to wash my face and start my
morning routine. As I took my clothes off and I walking into the shower and turned on the hottest
the water would go, I liked when it was

A Discussion On Expressing Yourself
Expressing yourself When anyone mentions the deep web, the public usually thinks of the dark
place in the internet where crimes and conspiracy theories take place. To begin, the internet is
split into two sections called the Clearnet and deep web. Clearnet are websites that are indexed
like, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Clearnet websites are easily accessible due to
the high ranking in popularity. The Deep web is still part of the internet, to be more specific the
deep web holds 95% of the internet content and the Clearnet contains only 5%, which is roughly
x500 the content. The Deep web is any website that cannot be indexed by a search engine. Deep
Web or the hidden web are websites that the general public access every day. For example,
Facebook and YouTube are Clearnet sites ( http://www.facebook.com ) but when you login, then
the content would be considered deep web ( https://www.facebook.com/muhaimin.khandaker.5).
This is because web crawlers ( a software that indexes websites) cannot index websites that
requires a form authentication ( Email and password). Another way websites are not indexed is
with the robot.txt file. The robot.txt file is a line that web developers can incorporate when
developing a website that does not want to be indexed. The deep web is not the dark web but,
the dark web is a small part of the deep web. Dark web uses software like Freenet, Jondo, Ip2,
Alienet, Tails OS, and the most famous software, Tor to access websites anonymously

The Cask of Amontillado
I think the author s purpose for writing the Cask of Amontillado was to show how being mean to
people could someday turn on them. I think Edgar Allan Poe did a great job of showing how rude
Fortunato was being, and why he deserved the punishment he got. Montresor played a quiet but
sneaky roll in this poem. It shows how the quiet humble people can turn dark once they have been
agitated with someone for too long. Montresor continuously gives Fortunato alcohol to disguise
what is really happening. Fortunato thinks that Montresor is showing him a good time with the
carnival and alcohol, while really he is using it as a cover up so that Fortunato does not put up a
fight or ruin Montresor s plan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Montresor used alcohol to coax Fortunato to the cask of Amontillado. This also led to the death of
Fortunato, much like drinking too much can lead a person to death today. Drinking can mellow a
person down, and trick them into feeling better. Many people are blinded by thinking that drinking
takes away their problems. When later on in life they can develop life ending problems with their
liver and other things. This symbolism was shown in the poem by Fortunato thinking that he was
having a good time, when really he was being led to his

How to Handle Conflict
How to Handle Conflict by Andrew E. Schwartz
For many of us, every day is a struggle to avoid conflict. Yet avoidance is practically impossible
since the core characteristics, ideas and beliefs of each individual often conflict with our own.
Differences of opinion, competitive zeal, and misinterpretations, among other factors, can all
generate ill feelings between co workers within an organization. While we can t avoid conflict, we
can learn how to sidestep negative confrontations by becoming familiar with the types of conflicts
that most commonly arise in the work place and by learning how to resolve them.
As a manager, you must approach every conflict as an opportunity to improve employee
relationships, to lessen tension in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once you have identified a conflict, you must plan a course of action. Decide whether the conflict
is important enough to confront the conflicting parties. Make careful assessments of both the
conflict and the conflict s impact on the individuals and the organization. The said conflict could
just be an intense brainstorming session (which you must not short circuit).
If you deem confrontation is necessary, however, confront the parties separately. Confront them in a
neutral setting for a down to earth chat. If the conflict is in its early stages, resolution might be
easily and quickly achieved now.
During the confrontation, the cause of the conflict must be determined. After the confrontation, the
manager needs to reflect on the discussion and reach an objective solution for both parties to agree
upon. There will be times when the parties will not agree: in this case, use your own judgment.
Your primary objective is to find a solution. The manager dips into his resources and either reduces
or eliminates the conflict. To accomplish this you need to elicit enough information to understand
each employees member s opinion and to define the problem in mutual terms.
Once a solution is implemented, you must make regular checks on the parties to insure that their
agreements are being kept. If the process is successful, both parties need to be attempting to work
the situation out. If not, confrontation must

Veganism Persuasive Speech
We have so many problems in our world today, but none of us want to address them because the
solutions are not easy for some people. A problem our world faces today is obesity. Obesity
could easily be cured by becoming a vegan. Another reason I have for the world to go vegan is
the slaughter of animals. None of us would allow our dog or our dog s puppies to be taken away
and then slaughtered, so we shouldn t kill any animals. We shouldn t get to decide which animals
get a happy life or which animals get their throats slit. The last major issue the world is facing
today is global warming. Leonardo DiCaprio found out global warming is real by interviewing
scientists who had found proof of global warming. One of their answers to global warming was
becoming a vegan. The pollution set off from dairy and meatfarms is so immense that producing
them is hurting our world. To stop the obesity of the world, the slaughter of animals, and the
global warming crisis, everyone should go vegan. The percentage of obese people in our world
is insanely high. According to Fox News Health, they say that over one third of our population is
obese, ( 30 ). There are many different ways to fix this problem but the best way for... Show more

I stated a way we can solve obesity. If we care enough about animals, we will stop the
slaughtering and torturing. If we think global warming is an issue, then we need to stop eating
animals and animal products. If we want our legacy to live on and for this world to still be here
for the rest of time, then we need to change our ways. We need people to step up and start
showing the world how we should treat our planet and animals. This isn t an easy transition for
most people, but if we want our planet to be healthy again we need to take this into our own hands.
Becoming vegan is a very good solution to the eating habits of mankind, the killing of innocent
animals, and global

There has been many researchers who haven t followed any ethical guidelines during their work,

Whether choosing a university or a junior college, they attract completely different people. Most

The educationthat a junior college offers is vastly different than that of a University. Junior College

Beverage Choices Of Bottled Water Essay
We are a 24/7 on the go society who wants convenience in our beverage choices . Kim E. Jeffery,
CEO of Nestle Waters North company, made this comment in representation of the largest leader in
the bottled water industry. It is no wonder how bottled water became so popular in our society.
Healthier than soda, bottled wateris conveniently stored in a lightweight, disposable, plastic
bottle. Bottled water sales started when Perrier glass bottled water came overseas to America in
the late 1970 s and in 1989, water was available in PET plastic bottles (Tapped). Now everywhere,
bottled water can even be found in high school cafeterias while there are water fountains located in
nearly every hall. However, there is an opposing view to the product with names such as Ice
Mountain, Aquafina, Dasani, Sam s Choice, and Acadia. Through research, bottled water is known
to carry human pollutants, exceed other natural resource costs, and take part in a large portion of
plastic waste, all in a sixteen ounce plastic bottle. Although bottled water is convenient in only a
few cases, public education and legislation are necessary because of the human pollutants, costs,
and waste.
Bottled water is becoming such a growing industry because it does show to be convenient in
some cases. As Kim E. Jeffery states, Bottled water provides a healthy alternative at a time when
obesity is a growing problem ( Success ). With companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Nestle, bottled

Patient privacy being tampered with wins as the biggest disadvantage of implementing email and
social media in the healthcare marketing circle. For example, if the messages to the patients are not
encrypted effectively, they may be accessed by unauthorized individuals. Most establishments
require putting the word secure before any email message; which automatically encrypts any email

Incoming and outgoing messages whether it is email or social media need to be filtered and

disadvantage that can be created is violating patient boundaries as they may extend to become

Exchange Rate In Canada
The US and Canada share more than just a border. Professional athletes from both countries can
often be found on the other s professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey teams. For
instance, currently there are 6 teams in Canada that are currently part of US professional sports
leagues. By the year 2035 it is predicted that there could be up to 11 new teams
formed(Campbell). This is beneficial to both the US and Canada s economy because professional
sports are typically profitable and draw a lot of money. Because the teams host and employ both
Americans and Canadians, some issues arise regarding currencies. Every country in the world has
a form of legal payment which is called currency. Currency holds a particular value depending...

23% of the teams in the NHL are Canadian and these teams generate 35% of the league s
revenue. When Canadian teams cannot produce enough revenue, the entire NHL league is
affected. Baseball is no different. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays generate an extra $600,000
for every cent the exchange rate goes up (Exchange). In the future. the exchange rate between
Canada and the US is predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with
accuracy how exchange rates will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows
sports teams to plan for the gap between American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues.
When the exchange rate is in favor of the Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams.
This allows them to spend more on player salaries, possibly making their teams better without
having to worry as much about revenue. For teams who are very successful in recent years, such
as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less of an issue. Even though they chose to
spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed so well that the fan loyalty and
interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can also impact teams
negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to Arizona
because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver
Canucks faced a similar problem in 2002. They played their players a total of $62 million US
which exchanges to $81 Canadian. This left the team with $19 million Canadian dollars to be
made up through other ways. The NHL is the 99th most profitable business in Canada (Maich)
and therefore is highly impacted by the exchange rate. Canadian sports teams will have to make a
choice between paying their players less money or pay them more but find new ways to bring in
money in order

Two Kinds of Interpretations in Amy Tanв
Ђ™s Short Story Two...
Often times mothers can be pushy, annoying, and a bit overbearing but in the long run they always
just want what is best for their child. Everyone wants their child to be the best, most popular and
overall number one. In Amy Tan s short story Two Kinds we see this type of fame hungry mother.
The short story is about a Chinese familywho lost everything. The motherhad lost her entire family
full of children except for the one in the story. With the belief you could be anything you want in
America (Tan 305) in mind the mother set off to find what her child can do. This ultimately will
resort in disappointment for both the mother and child, as they do not share the same goals
throughout the short story. My initial personal interpretation of this piece is that the mother wants
to live vicariously through her daughter. This was proven throughout the story time and time again.
Through further thought, different literary techniques, and class discussion I became aware of an

Clara Barton Accomplishments
Clara Barton, born Clarissa Harlowe Barton, is one of the most significant figures in US history.
Barton is well known for being a female pioneer in the field of teaching, as well as for her work
in the US patent office during the Civil war. These feats alone make her a historical figure;
however, she is also known for something which far surpasses these accomplishments. Clara Barton
is recognized and remembered today for her extraordinary work as a nurse during the American
Civil War, and for going on to establish the American Red Cross
. (Clara Barton; Clara Barton)

Paul s Dehumanization In All Quiet On The Western Front
In All Quiet on the Western Front, the Great War emotionally destroys Paul through the
dehumanization of the soldiers. Throughout the book, thoughts of his future, desperation for life,
and coping with his actions crushes him psychologically. Therefore Paul gains realization of the
reality of the war; he soon loses everyone he has gained emotional attachment to during the time he
serves and is unable to cope with the loss of all his companions. This disturbs him far more than the
physical wounds in battle.
From the beginning Paul has many doubts about his life after the war. Compared to the older men,
he had no career or love to hopefully reunite with. As he imagines a life away from the violence,
he realizes these boys entered the war before ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These boys were motivated by nationalism and false propaganda about the heroic nature of the war.
As they began to understand the uselessness of the soldiers sacrifices, Paul s comrades develop a
bitterness towards the system. Especially after seeing their German leader, they question the
government s intentions. Their innocence was manipulated to benefit political officials with no
consideration for each individual life that is affected by the war.
Psychologically Paul is greatly affected by his experiences in the war and is unable to express
his time there. He has escaped any major injury during the most violent parts of the war. However
after all his companions are killed in duty, he is restless and loses the desire to live. Paul was set
free from the emotional turmoil when he dies; the physical pain no longer affects him. Ironically,
he dies on an all quiet western front after seeing the terror behind the country s nationalism.
Paul escaped serious physical wounds; however, he is completely destroyed by the effects of the
war. After being mercilessly attacked with gas, he sees the brutality and lack of concern for the
soldiers lives. Although he is continuously pressured by authority figures to see the opposing
fighter as the main enemy, Paul understands the problem goes beyond killing other men. The war
tears Paul apart and leaves him scarred by the lack of

Difference Between Traditional And Traditional Education
The advancement in technology has introduced a new education program that creates diversity in
the learning systems. Today, many institutions of higher learning are or have introduced an online
program that allows students all over the world to pursue their academic dreams using their
computers. While this is an important innovative idea, most colleges and universities still maintain
the traditional classroom setup where students interact with the educator on a face to face basis.
Apparently, both programs achieve the objective of the educationsystem which is to provide
knowledge and skills to the learners. However, the two have multiple differences that make each
unique and favored by some students than the other. Therefore, this essay examines the differences
and similarities between the on online education and traditional education. The traditional and
online educational programs are similar and different in their use of learning materials, teacher
instructions, student assessment, and assignments.
Firstly, educational materials such as textbooks are an important component of learning.
Apparently, these resources are significant irrespective of the learning mode assumed by the
students. Notably, both distance learners and traditional classroom attendees use either textbooks or
online resources accessible through online libraries. In each case, students have online access to
virtue libraries through student portals that provide academic sources such as journals and online

What I Did The Baylor Interdisciplinary Curriculum ( Bic )
There were many ways I could have gone about writing this essay, the needless use of big words
to convey simple points, the insertion of irrelevant long quotes just to make the minimum page
requirement, but this is the last undergraduate essay I will ever write. If I will write, I might as
well write with my best effort and in my own style. Reflecting over my journey these last five
years has been difficult. These years have been filled with so many trials and tribulations that it
feels as though a lifetime has passed since I first set foot on the campus of Baylor University, yet
at the same time it feels as though it went by so fast, I merely blinked and it was over. I can
honestly say the Baylor Interdisciplinary Curriculum (BIC) is my greatest and most precious
takeaway from my undergraduate experience. It was in the BIC that I learned to enlarge my
perspective, become more fully aware of myself, and become prepared for leadership and service.
I have been challenged by the BIC and to my surprise, I rose to the challenge. This experience
cannot be fully explained without evaluating and reflecting upon the various worlds, lives, and
cultures explored in the BIC and how they are personally related to me.
The BIC educated me on the World of Rhetoric and from that experience I gained profound oratory
and writing skills that I will utilize the rest of my life. Out of all the concepts I have studied in the
BIC, the World of Rhetoric was by far the most jarring and

Canassatego, an Iroquois, Primary Source According to Canassatego, We know our lands are now
become more valuable: the white people think we do not know their value; but we are sensible
that the land is everlasting, and the few goods we receive for it are soon worn out and gone.
Canassatego is talking about the land surveyors trying to purchase the Native American land for
cheap. Canassatego also notes that Your people daily settle on these lands, and spoil our hunting. He
is talking about the land scalpers trying to take the Native American land while there gone hunting

anything, we now renew our request, and desire you will inform the person whose people are
seated on our lands, that that country belongs to us, in right of conquest; we having bought it with
our blood, and taken it from our enemies in fair war... He is trying to let the English know that they
do not appreciate the land surveyors coming onto their land and trying to take the land that they
fought and worked so hard for away from them. Canassatego is desperately informing the English
that the settlements spoil Native American hunting, as well as that colonial horses eat grass that is
meant for deer. At the time that the primary source was written, the IroquoisIndians were actively

Wearing Seatbelts In Australia
The issue of should seatbelts be compulsory fittings for all cars is a problem debated among
Australians. A seatbelt is a belt or strap that is used to secure a person into a seat of a car,
airplane, bus, etc. The seatbelt secures around the waist or diagonally across the midsection of the
person. In 2013, 20% or 150 people killed in crashes were not wearing any form of seatbelts.

Car safety will need to be improved to keep up with the pace of technology. Currently in America
some cars are fitted with automatic seatbelts that click into place when the key is put into the
ignition. The engine wont start unless the seatbelts are secured. This could be used in Australia to
ensure seatbelts are being worn at all times. Ford are currently creating inflatable seatbelts so
when the car senses a crash the seat belt fills with air creating more protection for the passengers.
Although there are no new laws being discussed in Australia, different American states have
decided to enforce the laws that drivers, passengers in the front seat and children under the age of

I believe that wearing seatbelts should be compulsory throughout the world. After observing all

Mistakes In Into Thin Air
Mistakes That Lead to Tragedies and Precautions That Lead to Success
The best way to bring attention to a problem is tragedy. Unfortunately, this means reform will not
happen until the loss or harm of life has already occurred. One example of this was seen in New
York, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. This fire was the cause of 146 deaths and many more
injuries; however, this lead to new law regulating work safety standards. While this is a tragedy
that caused reform in 1911, the same method of reform stands today. This can be seen in the novel,
Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. The novel is an account of what happened on the mountain during
the 1996 Everest expedition. While the expedition started off with high hopes and dreamers ready ...

In order to continue climbing Everest, many aspects of climbing need to be improved before more
people endanger their lives to try and reach the roof of the world. The guides have some areas that
need the most reform. During the ascension of Everest the guides made a plethora mistakes that
seemed insignificant but only aided in disaster. The guides first mistake is allowing any bloody
idiot [with enough determination] up Everest (Krakauer 153). By allowing any bloody idiot with
no climbing experience to try and climb the most challenging mountain in the world, the guides are
almost inviting trouble. Having inexperienced climbers decreases the trust a climbing team has in
one another, causing an individual approach to climbing the mountain and more reliance on the
guides. While this approach appears fine, this fault is seen in addition to another in Scott Fischer s
expedition Mountain Madness. Due to the carefree manner in which the expedition was run, clients
[moved] up and down the mountain independently during the acclimation period, [Fischer] had to
make a number of hurried, unplanned excursions between Base Camp and the upper camps when
several clients experienced problems and needed to be escorted down, (154). Two problems present
in the Mountain Madness expedition were seen before the summit push: the allowance of
inexperienced climbers and an unplanned climbing regime. A third problem that aided disaster was
the difference in opinion in regards to the responsibilities of a guide on Everest. One guide went
down alone many hours ahead of the clients and went without supplemental oxygen (318). These
three major issues: allowing anyone up the mountain, not having a plan to climb Everest and
differences in opinion. All contributed to the disaster on Everest in

Oral Tradition And Oral Traditions
Imagine being able to tell stories for generations to come without ever having to write down a single
word. Oral tradition is used to pass stories down from generation to generation through different
forms of communication without any writing system. Oral tradition stories are told by word of
mouth, riddles, storytelling, and songs. It cannot be changed although the narrator might embellish
it. Oral tradition is how Africans perceived the past. The significance of oral Tradition is due to the
stories holding so much information and knowledge. Oral tradition contributed to understanding
pre colonial historybecause the pre colonial Africawas influenced by two major movements which
are the expansion of islam and the dispersion of the bantu. Oral tradition gave us the perspective
as to why the expansion and dispersion took place. Oral tradition has its strengths and
weaknesses. A strength of oral tradition is that it is being told from word of mouth and more
people will listen to a good storyteller than to go read a book about the history. However, a
weakness of oral tradition is that many of the stories get forgotten, left out, or embellished. With
each re telling the story gets further and further away from the original. Oral tradition is a primary
way of conveying culture and is a way of life in Africanhistory.
Oral traditions are historical traditions passed down by word of mouth from one generation to
another without written instruction. Oral tradition was used during

Narcissistic Personality Disorder
Many of those who take interest in Narcissism fail to see the line that draws between Narcissism

At what point does narcissism become a disorder? What other types of narcissism branch out
from this misunderstood behavior? Many insights on narcissistic people differ from a narcissist s

Mcdonald s American Leadership
It is simpler to get elected as the President of the United States than it is to become a manager at
McDonald s. To become a manager at McDonald s, an employee must work and brown nose his

prerequisites for leading the nation are that the candidate must have resided in America for at
least fourteen years, be thirty five years or older, and be a natural born citizen (Ho Par. 2 4).

First of all, narcissism is the condition being egocentric and an obdurate disregard for others
wellbeing. The narcissistic tendencies in a potential world leader are what guide a majority of his
or her actions. Furthermore, the shining confidence that expounds from a narcissist is magnetic to
followers. Another term that is prevalent to understanding the process is sociopathic leader. This is
used to describe an individual who lacks a conscience and is manipulative and ruthless in gaining
power. It is beneficial to be devoid of natural human emotions because it functions as a wall,
blocking out the screams of an oppressed community. Sociopathic leaders also tend to be
authoritarian rulers, who appeal to fear to command constrictive obedience to authority figures.
Scapegoating plays upon this suffocating fear of the citizens by alienating an entire group, usually a
minority, and accusing them of causing the destruction of the country. Dehumanization of those
being scapegoated erases the human qualities and releases the guilt of the community so that it can
openly blame innocents. Labeling, or classifying a group of people as having a specific
characteristic, assists in the dehumanization process. Although an inexperienced candidate does not
technically need to have any previous political knowledge, it is extremely beneficial to understand
these terms and how they will be

liquid (#5 buffalostate.edu). This is a very helpful tool that we need to master and able to use in a

density of different liquids, and be able to identify an unknown liquid using density. Also, learn how
to evaluate the experimental accuracy, precise, and error of small volumes used in biochemistry

close or exact the theoretical values. In this exercise, all of the micropipettes measured in the form
of a microliter. There are different models of micropipettes have different minimum and maximum

Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal
Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial.
Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively
when there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma,
whereby one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some
organizations treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other
organizations regard their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about
customers interests as an ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that
mad the ethical actions survived. Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some
propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead,
successful public relationship management techniques generally treat their customers welfare as
an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis management usually contains the honesty
and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to illustrate how damaging it is if
company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From Kant s perspective,
customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by organizations, should be
treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and not merely as a means
to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). Indeed,

The Han Dynasty By Ikeda Chapter Summaries
Being named like an introductory text for undergraduate students, this book consists of the original
and latest and sometimes somewhat complicated for beginners findings by three current and former
professors of the University of Tokyo: Mizoguchi, Ikeda and Kojima. All of them are distinguished
scholars of Chinese philosophy: Mizoguchi and Kojima are distinguished scholar of Confucianism,
and Ikeda, who now teaches at Shandong University in China, is experienced and outstanding
researcher of Taoism. From an oversimplified perspective, the history of China would be
understood as just a history of the changes of dynasties, and there had been no progress or
advance before the Xinhai Revolution of 1911, which overthrew China s last imperial dynasty;
however, the preface of the book says, seeing the history of China from the inside makes it possible
to discover the gradual but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among various topics discussed, he puts his emphasis on the argument over the establishing of
Confucianism as the national orthodox teaching in the Han dynasty. The differences exist, he says,
between the scholars of Oriental history and those of Chinese philosophy in the view on the
problem. The former tend to think the moment of its establishment was 140 BC, when Dong
ZhongShu s suggestion that all non Confucian scholars be dismissed from the Court and
Confucianism be the canonical teaching, was accepted by the emperor Wu; while the latter think
the realization of its establishment was much later than 140 BC, and that was not achieved only be
few authorities like Dong ZhongShu or emperor Wu. In this text, Ikeda supports the latter idea by
giving historical and philological analysis. Other chapters are also argumentative and present new
perspective on various topics about Chinese intellectual

What Impact Does A Difficult Temperament Have On Social...
What impact does a difficult temperament have on social competence in preschool children?
The ability to regulate emotions, thoughts, and behaviors while controlling impulses all have to do
with self management and regulation. These social related skills are impacted by one s own
temperament. Though temperament is believed to be present at birth, research indicates that there are
many environmental factors that can influence temperament. Originally, research on temperament
traits in young children were focused on a child s genetic disposition at birth. However; today,
environmental influences are considered to be equally important to the influence of a child s
temperament development as inborn predispositions. Temperament impacts the young child in
many ways, especially in the development of social competence as it relates to the ability to
empathize with others and in the development of relationship skills including ability to effectively
communicate. Rudasill, Reio, and Stipanovic (2010) research also reiterated that teachers who
create positive, nurturing, and affectionate classroom environments are more likely to have
students who flourish and assert positive social skills when managing social and behavioral
challenges.
Definition of Difficult Temperament
Michael P. McCreery in his article Temperament as a Behavioral Construct, defined temperament as
the biological makeup of an individual shaped over time by heredity, maturity, and experiences.

The Problem Solving Process Will Begin
When confronted with a problem, the question we should first begin asking ourselves is What
should I do? We will first need to examine the problem and determine the steps needed to take in
order to ensure the problem is solved satisfactorily. This is where the problem solving process
will begin. For this assignment, I will be focusing on Scenario 1: You have worked at your
company for eleven (11) years. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor s degree in order
to increase your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree, when a
supervisor s position in a competing company becomes available in another state. The start date
is in two (2) weeks, during your final exam period for your courses. The position offers a
$15,000 per year salary increase, a car allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former
supervisor works for the company and is recommending you for the position based on your
outstanding job performance; if you want the job, it s yours. All of the other supervisors at this
level in the company have Master s degrees, so you know that you would be expected to earn
your Bachelor s degree and continue on to a Master s degree. Your present company offers tuition
reimbursement, but the new company does not. (cite) For this particular scenario, I have been
tasked with making a decision on whether or not I should change my job, an opportunity that will
increase my salary; or stay in a position that will allow me to further my educational

In The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his
religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love
comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. Unfortunately Native Americans have
deep roots with racism and oppression during the last 500 years. In The Lone Rangerand Tonto Fist
Fight in Heaven, Sherman Alexie tries to show racism in many ways in multiple of his short
stories. These stories, engage our history from a Native American viewpoint. Many Native
Americans were brutally forced out of their homes and onto Reservations that lacked resources.
Later, Indian children were taken from their families and placed into school that were designed to,
Kill the Indian, save the man. In the book there are multiple short story that are pieces that form a
larger puzzle that shows the struggles and their effects on Native Americans. Sherman Alexie shows
the many sides of racism, unfair justice and extermination policies and how imagination is key for
Native American survival.
Sherman Alexie show how non Native Americans treat Native Americans in court and day to day
life.
In the story of The Trial of Thomas Builds the Fire Thomas is charged for crimes that he did not
commit and yet he was still sentenced to two consecutive lifetime sentences Mr. Builds the Fire,

Informative Essay On Curveballs
Have you ever wondered whether or not a curveball is good to throw. I ve played baseball for
many years now and my coaches always said Don t throw curveballs. As the years progressed
more and more kids on different teams started to throw curveballs. I want to find out the science
and physics of the curveball, the effects on the arm from a curveball, and if curveballs can even
help your pitching. If I would want to throw curveballs some day I should find this out. Are
curveballs good to throw? We need to know about how a curveball actually moves before we can
learn about its effects on the arm. The movement of a curveball is based off of these two
theories: the Bernoulli principle and the Magnus effect. The Bernoulli principle is where a
spinning ball creates a slower airspeed over the ball and a faster airspeed on the bottom. This
creates a difference of pressures from top to bottom where the high pressure on top flows towards
the low pressure on the bottom... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1864, William Arthur Candy Cummings developed the curveball while studying at Falley
Seminary. Cummings made a career out the curveball, and he ended up being inducted into the
National Baseball Hall of Fame (Candy). In the 2011 MLB season, 1,749 home runs were hit off
of fastballs by right handed batters. Also the right handed batters swung and missed at 16,622
fastballs. The right handed batters versus fastballs were 9.5 times more likely to swing and miss
against fastballs (Karakolis). Also in the 2011 MLB season, 178 home runs were hit off of
curveballs by right handed batters. They swung and missed at 3,532 curveballs. The right handed
batters versus the curveballs were 19.8 times more likely to swing and miss against curveballs
(Karakolis). From this we can tell how the curveball played a substantial role in baseball, and the
curveball helped pitchers against the

Technology Is Destroying The Music Industry
Every adult, over the age of 18, has seen the changes the music industry has gone through since the
introduction of the internet, digital downloading, and online streaming. We have heard that Tapes,
CDs, MP3s, and the internet were going to destroy the industry. Have they destroyed it yet?
According to Ian Morris, Author of the article, Technology is Destroying the Music Industry, Which
is Great for the Next Taylor Swift , music is changing but the only thing the internet is destroying
are the record labels. Which he explains as a good thing for the industry. Morris talks about the
roles the record labelplays and why it s on the way out. The biggest change in music since the
internet was the development of Napster. 2014 marked fifteen years after the rise and fall of
this online file sharing platform. The article 15 years After Napster: How the Music Service
Changed the Industry , by Alex Suskind, talks about the failed program and why the biggest
change in the music industry made record labels scared. So what does this all mean and why
should people care? Well for starters when it comes to musicians and record labels, the company
makes most of the money, as well as most of the decisions. Music was never meant to be
something that was used for money. Music is made enjoyment and should be shared without
extensive rules and regulations. Music existed before man and will exist after. It is not something
that should be governed by big companies looking to make money. The

Marie Antoinette A Villain
The film, Marie Antoinette was created in 2006 by Sofia Coppola in which it expresses her life
history through the use of travesty. Seeing that Marie Antoinette was commonly misunderstood for
her public image through the eyes of France, Sofia Coppola created the movie to present her in a
different perspective. She endeavors to try and present a whole other side to her in various ways; a
side that is more sympathetic and likeable.
Originally born in Austria, Marie Antoinettemarried off to (future King) Louis XVI of France. Soon
enough, she became a target of gossip and scandal; rumors of her included as being an Austrian
spy and much more. Her life in the public eye was quite difficult in which her sole purpose was to
have a baby so that it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With it being defined as the collage or blending of different time periods and genre, it reveals the
fact that Marie Antoinette was indeed a teenager. She had no sense of the world beyond her until
she was put into a royal and first rate world. There are various scenes that demonstrates how she is
still young and innocent. During the I Want Candy scene, a pair of blue Converse sneakers are
shown in the background while modern pop music is playing. These ideas were most likely
designed to exaggerate the means of the film where those subtle indications of travesty were done
intentionally. This denotes how Marie Antoinette is nonetheless an adolescent that wants nothing to
do with the monarchy. When asked about a feud between countries and it leading to a civil war, she
paid no attention and maintained her interest with the attire she was wearing. This goes to show
how Marie Antoinette was only concerned with materialistic items whereas teenagers in modern
society are the same

Mean Girls Sociology Essay

Sociology 101
George Kinder
Movies And Their Messages In the movie Mean Girls, released in April of 2004, you see the
traditional story about the new girl in school and the stereotypes that engulf the adolescent
environment. Cady Heron, played by Lindsay Lohan, shows us what life at a corrupted school
could be like for teens that are not so familiar with the American ways of socialization and
surviving the potentially threatening lifestyle it could lead on. Sadly, children succumb to it as a
result of a dire need to fit in. In the film, we re first introduced with the impression that high
schoolers and the staff are super strict and have no sympathy for the new students. As it subtly
resembles almost a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
but it s happening. This film highly impacts the vulnerability and unsure senses that these teens
have. As the teachers could care less about what s going on in their kids love lives, the kids mostly
think of it as the center of their life at the time. A level of maturity and irresponsibility come in
with these thoughts and priorities. Cady also finds herself making small references back to her
original home, Africa. She sees the other students as simple jungle animals in the wild, survival
of the fittest at its best. That s probably the best metaphor someone could compare high school
to, a jungle. An incontrollable area where children have to grow up and find out who they are
and where they fit in and what they should do. When peers such as your friends or classmates
influence your life without you realizing it, it is determined it s peer pressure. Almost every
child is victim to this idea of peer pressure at some age or the other. It s an identity crisis, while
also a constant comparison by parents and teachers, that makes children follow the leader in terms
of the social scale. Kids, being in the process of forming an identity, needs the support and
direction by those around them. The only way possible of making your child strong enough to beat
peer pressure is to help him build confidence and to treat your growing child with respect and as an
important individual that will make mistakes. The main consequence of saying no to negative

  • 2. Labour Day In William Inge s Summer Brave An afternoon picnic with family and friends appears to be the perfect recipe for a Labour Day celebration, but a handsome stranger and a few swigs of whiskey quickly throw a small town into disarray. Complete with a dash of Southern charm, All Saints Catholic High School delivered an enjoyable rendition of Summer Brave. Written by William Inge, Summer Brave is the revised edition of his Pulitzer Prize winning play Picnic. It chronicles the happenings of a small town in 1950s Kansas, at the centre of which is Madge Owens, more notably known as the prettiest girl in town. When a young drifter, Hal Carter, arrives to visit an old friend, Madge cannot help but be intrigued by this charismatic man. As Labour Day weekend unfolds, love and heartbreak ... • 3. Benefits Of Pet Ownership Essay amp;#8220;I think I could turn and live with the animals. They are so placid and self contained, ; writes American poet Walt Whitman (Schellenberg 1). Yes, pets have been part of human culture throughout history, and in American households, they are more common than children. It is reported that 58% of U.S. householdshave at least one pet, whereas only 35% have children (Whitaker; Witherell 76). Owners spend billions of dollars each year on pet food, accessories, and veterinary care, but apparently petsgive back, too (Schellenberg 1). Medical studies show that pet companionship offers concrete health benefits (Simross 14). While only in the past few decades have scientists become interested in the benefits of pets on human health... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A recent study at UCLA found that 37% of Medicare patients who owned pets visited their doctor less frequently and seemed to tolerate stressful events better (Whitaker). These are only the physical benefits. amp;#8220;Being with animals. . .is just good for our hearts and souls. We . . .know that animals can lower blood pressure and help us live longer. But there is a whole other spiritual level there, ; writes Susan McElroy, author of Animals as Teachers and Healers (Simross 15). The psychological benefits include reduced mental distress, a sense of security, lower rates of depression, and higher morale (Schellenberg 2). Serving as an effective stress reducer, amp;#8220;stroking an animal is calming, ; says UCLA psychologist Dr. Judith Siegel (Witherell 77). Patients who watched a fish tank before going into surgery did as well as those who underwent hypnosis to reduce anxiety and discomfort (Schellenberg 2). The benefits are obvious no matter if the animal has four legs, wings, fins, or even scales. Why such beneficial effects? amp;#8220;Ironically, the most common reason people give for not having pets having to care for them is one of the reasons pets improve health. Pets require that you amp;#8216;extend amp;#8217; yourself when you normally wouldn amp;#8217;t, and for people who are ill or just want better health, pets turn them into amp;#8216;care ... • 4. Paternity Leave Most professional companies and organizations offer mothers paid time off. Usually, this maternity leave is six weeks. New fathers, however, don t often get this same privilege, which is unfortunate. In order for a father to better support the mother of their child and/or personally care for their child, a father should be allowed a paid paternityleave. Many would argue that not mandating paternity leave is serving menand their careers far better than if the policy were to be established. The opposing side believes that if the creation of paternity leave becomes, mandatory, it will do more harm than good especially for the men who don t become fathers. Everyone so often starts off by saying why reward fathers, they didn t go through the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men are needed for the creation of and the It s important to give the men time to bond with their child, especially because they often get left out of the process. When the leave becomes mandatory it can bring men a sense of worth and usefulness, but when it s not mandatory one could begin to feel as if they don t belong or even aren t important enough to help raise a child. Men who get the privilege to take leave get more satisfaction from the time spent with their child or children. But paternity leave is a privilege and not a right, so the men who don t have the liberty to do so aren t bad fathers, but the leaves fathers take during their child s young stage serves their long term relationship well because they become more satisfied with it and are more likely to remain involved. Mandating paternity leave serves children well. The children get more time spent with their fathers which have been proven to be a significant impact on a happier child, healthier, few behavioral problems, greater self esteem, and even tend to do better at school. The long term relationship with a father and child is somewhat depended on mandating paternity leave. In the academic journal, Paternity Leave and Fathers Involvement with their Young Children, it states that If fathers who take a longer leave continue to be more involved, and if such involvement proves to be beneficial to children, then a case could potentially be made to provide more access to paternity leave to new fathers in the US (Nepomnyaschy and ). This shows that work needs to be done so that the idea of paternity leave can be a norm in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Television Is A Key Component Of Our Daily Lives Introduction A television is a machine with a screen that is capable of displaying images. Televisions receive broadcast signals and turn them into pictures and sound. Although debated, the TV is often credited as being invented by Vladimir Zworykin a Russian born American who worked for Westinghouse, and Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a boy in Beaver City, Utah. Vladimir held the patent for the TV, but it was Farnsworth who was the first person to first successfully transmit a TV signal on September 7, 1927. The television is a key component of our daily lives and is a marvel of engineering and utilisation of technology. Smartly incorporating complex electronic theories and concepts, the televisions has faced many developments and adaptations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A pixel is defined in television terms as the smallest area of a television image that can be shown within the parameters of the certain system. This process is accomplished by firstly analysing the image by using a photoelectric device in a series of horizontal scans from the top to the bottom of the image to create an electrical signal in which the colour and brightness values of the individual picture elements are represented as voltage levels of the respective video waveform; secondly, by transmitting the same respective values of the picture elements in a sequence as voltage levels of a video signal; and finally by reproducing the image of the original scene in a video signal display of parallel scanning lines on a viewing screen(Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015) (wiseGEEK, 2015). The most primitive form of televisions relied on a cathode ray tube to produce images, and operated with an analog signal(Lapin, 2015). As technology has developed over time and broadcast signals transitioned from analog to digital, LCD (liquid crystal display) and plasma televisions were created. These TVs are more compact, are flatter and have crisper pictures than their cathode ray counterparts because the bulky tube is removed, and in its stead they use a thin grid of pixels to create the images (Repairfaq.cis.upenn.edu, 2015)(Computerhope.com, 2015) (Lapin, 2015) If the sound as you hear it from the television had ... • 6. How Youth Workers Can Help With The Issue Of Young Offenders This essay will examine how youth workers can help with the issue of young offenders, with the use of relevant policies along with historical and current context to show how. It will also point out key policies and legislative frameworks linked to young offenders and how these policies promote social justice and equality. The term young offender refers to a person (male or female between the ages of 10 17) who has been convicted of or cautioned about a criminal offence. The term young offender is often used because the criminal justice system deals with young people who offend in a different way to adults who offend (ACS Distance Education 2011). Crime is a widespread issue in society and criminal activities are beginning to get worse. Along with that a lot of young people are now getting involved in criminal activities. Statistics show that there were over 47,000 criminals between the ages of 16 21 committing crimes (Whitehead 2014). There are many reason why young people choose to commit crimes, these would include problems at home, peer pressure, boredom, poverty etc. it was found that poverty is one of the main reasons that young people turn to crime due to job cuts and other factors (Association of Chief Officers of Probation 1993). A report was carried out in Southmead and it showed that young people were the only group that were identified as criminals (Brent 2006:26). The main conflict between adults and young people seems to be based around behaviour in public. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, he supported them until he found out they smoked marijuana. This suggests he supports the overall ideology of white supremacy. If Sessions does in fact not support weed, this could hinder the legalization of marijuana in the United States, which keeps the U.S. behind other countries that have already legalized and promoted the recreational use of marijuana to partake in all the benefits of it. • 8. Descriptive Essay About Snowboarding Ever since I can just about remember I have been Snowboarding. Well first I started off skiing, but I wanted more of a challenge. What got me started was my older brother Daniel when he tried it for the first time, he didn t stick with it because he hit his head to many times (I think he is just a pansy). Him and his friends use to call me hobo Joe, which I kind of liked cause it rhymes with my name Joe and It gave me attention. We would always go to this little ski resort about 20 minutes away from our house and it was a blast, I loved it. I didn t have any friends to go with at the time so I just tagged alot with my older brother which was fine enough. I was 12 years old when we first started planning our trip to go to a resort in Colorado, I remember sitting up at night talking with my older brother, counting down the days till we finally got to leave for our skiing adventure. And to top it all off some of daniel s friends were coming along with our cousin Jodi and oldest brother nick. Even though Daniel and his friends tease me at times I still find it a lot of fun to hang out with them. Dad how much longer till we finally get to leave? I would ask my dad with urgency, not understanding at the time that asking ever couple of hours would not make the departure come any faster. Rolling his eyes my dad would answer This is the fifth time today you asked that question, we are leaving tomorrow morning . Dancing down the hall I hurry to my room that I share with Daniel. When I approached the door I could heard these terrible retching noises coming from behind the door. I peek inside the door to see Daniel with his face in the waste basket. My heart starts to sink, knowing that if Daniel is too sick to travel then we weren t going to be able to leave for this trip. I go tell my parents and then trudgingly flop down on the couch knowing I wasn t going to get very good sleep tonight. I wake up messaging my neck trying to get the knot that had developed there overnight due to my sleeping arrangements. • 9. A Discussion On Expressing Yourself Expressing yourself When anyone mentions the deep web, the public usually thinks of the dark place in the internet where crimes and conspiracy theories take place. To begin, the internet is split into two sections called the Clearnet and deep web. Clearnet are websites that are indexed like, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Clearnet websites are easily accessible due to the high ranking in popularity. The Deep web is still part of the internet, to be more specific the deep web holds 95% of the internet content and the Clearnet contains only 5%, which is roughly x500 the content. The Deep web is any website that cannot be indexed by a search engine. Deep Web or the hidden web are websites that the general public access every day. For example, Facebook and YouTube are Clearnet sites ( http://www.facebook.com ) but when you login, then the content would be considered deep web ( https://www.facebook.com/muhaimin.khandaker.5). This is because web crawlers ( a software that indexes websites) cannot index websites that requires a form authentication ( Email and password). Another way websites are not indexed is with the robot.txt file. The robot.txt file is a line that web developers can incorporate when developing a website that does not want to be indexed. The deep web is not the dark web but, the dark web is a small part of the deep web. Dark web uses software like Freenet, Jondo, Ip2, Alienet, Tails OS, and the most famous software, Tor to access websites anonymously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Amontillado, The Destructors, And Oedipus The King The Cask of Amontillado, The Destructors, and Oedipus Rex Kenzie Harimon English Comp 2 5 17 The Cask of Amontillado I think the author s purpose for writing the Cask of Amontillado was to show how being mean to people could someday turn on them. I think Edgar Allan Poe did a great job of showing how rude Fortunato was being, and why he deserved the punishment he got. Montresor played a quiet but sneaky roll in this poem. It shows how the quiet humble people can turn dark once they have been agitated with someone for too long. Montresor continuously gives Fortunato alcohol to disguise what is really happening. Fortunato thinks that Montresor is showing him a good time with the carnival and alcohol, while really he is using it as a cover up so that Fortunato does not put up a fight or ruin Montresor s plan. ... • 11. How to Handle Conflict How to Handle Conflict by Andrew E. Schwartz For many of us, every day is a struggle to avoid conflict. Yet avoidance is practically impossible since the core characteristics, ideas and beliefs of each individual often conflict with our own. Differences of opinion, competitive zeal, and misinterpretations, among other factors, can all generate ill feelings between co workers within an organization. While we can t avoid conflict, we can learn how to sidestep negative confrontations by becoming familiar with the types of conflicts that most commonly arise in the work place and by learning how to resolve them. As a manager, you must approach every conflict as an opportunity to improve employee relationships, to lessen tension in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once you have identified a conflict, you must plan a course of action. Decide whether the conflict is important enough to confront the conflicting parties. Make careful assessments of both the conflict and the conflict s impact on the individuals and the organization. The said conflict could just be an intense brainstorming session (which you must not short circuit). If you deem confrontation is necessary, however, confront the parties separately. Confront them in a neutral setting for a down to earth chat. If the conflict is in its early stages, resolution might be easily and quickly achieved now. During the confrontation, the cause of the conflict must be determined. After the confrontation, the manager needs to reflect on the discussion and reach an objective solution for both parties to agree upon. There will be times when the parties will not agree: in this case, use your own judgment. Your primary objective is to find a solution. The manager dips into his resources and either reduces or eliminates the conflict. To accomplish this you need to elicit enough information to understand each employees member s opinion and to define the problem in mutual terms. Once a solution is implemented, you must make regular checks on the parties to insure that their agreements are being kept. If the process is successful, both parties need to be attempting to work the situation out. If not, confrontation must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Veganism Persuasive Speech We have so many problems in our world today, but none of us want to address them because the solutions are not easy for some people. A problem our world faces today is obesity. Obesity could easily be cured by becoming a vegan. Another reason I have for the world to go vegan is the slaughter of animals. None of us would allow our dog or our dog s puppies to be taken away and then slaughtered, so we shouldn t kill any animals. We shouldn t get to decide which animals get a happy life or which animals get their throats slit. The last major issue the world is facing today is global warming. Leonardo DiCaprio found out global warming is real by interviewing scientists who had found proof of global warming. One of their answers to global warming was becoming a vegan. The pollution set off from dairy and meatfarms is so immense that producing them is hurting our world. To stop the obesity of the world, the slaughter of animals, and the global warming crisis, everyone should go vegan. The percentage of obese people in our world is insanely high. According to Fox News Health, they say that over one third of our population is obese, ( 30 ). There are many different ways to fix this problem but the best way for... If we think global warming is an issue, then we need to stop eating animals and animal products. We need people to step up and start showing the world how we should treat our planet and animals. For those that are mentally capable of leaving home, a University is the route to take. The thought of packing up your room and not seeing your parents everyday is a thrill for most, and a nightmare for others. A Junior College provides one with a life at home, and a higher degree of education. Many still have the time of their life in college even though they live with their parents. Junior College and Universities both impacts a person s life in different ways. Junior College serves more for those who like teacher interaction, financial aid issues, and who are not mentally stable to take themselves out of their homes. • 16. Beverage Choices Of Bottled Water Essay We are a 24/7 on the go society who wants convenience in our beverage choices . Kim E. Jeffery, CEO of Nestle Waters North company, made this comment in representation of the largest leader in the bottled water industry. It is no wonder how bottled water became so popular in our society. Healthier than soda, bottled wateris conveniently stored in a lightweight, disposable, plastic bottle. Bottled water sales started when Perrier glass bottled water came overseas to America in the late 1970 s and in 1989, water was available in PET plastic bottles (Tapped). Now everywhere, bottled water can even be found in high school cafeterias while there are water fountains located in nearly every hall. However, there is an opposing view to the product with names such as Ice Mountain, Aquafina, Dasani, Sam s Choice, and Acadia. Through research, bottled water is known to carry human pollutants, exceed other natural resource costs, and take part in a large portion of plastic waste, all in a sixteen ounce plastic bottle. Although bottled water is convenient in only a few cases, public education and legislation are necessary because of the human pollutants, costs, and waste. Bottled water is becoming such a growing industry because it does show to be convenient in some cases. As Kim E. Jeffery states, Bottled water provides a healthy alternative at a time when obesity is a growing problem ( Success ). With companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Nestle, bottled pop became ... Professional athletes from both countries can often be found on the other s professional football, basketball, baseball and hockey teams. For instance, currently there are 6 teams in Canada that are currently part of US professional sports leagues. By the year 2035 it is predicted that there could be up to 11 new teams formed(Campbell). This is beneficial to both the US and Canada s economy because professional sports are typically profitable and draw a lot of money. When Canadian teams cannot produce enough revenue, the entire NHL league is affected. Baseball is no different. For example, the Toronto Blue Jays generate an extra $600,000 for every cent the exchange rate goes up (Exchange). In the future. the exchange rate between Canada and the US is predicted to help the Canadian sports teams. Experts can predict with accuracy how exchange rates will change up to two years in advance(Campbell). This allows sports teams to plan for the gap between American dollar salaries and Canadian dollar revenues. When the exchange rate is in favor of the Canadian dollar, more money is available to teams. This allows them to spend more on player salaries, possibly making their teams better without having to worry as much about revenue. For teams who are very successful in recent years, such as the Toronto Blue Jays, the exchange rate becomes less of an issue. Even though they chose to spend more money on player salaries, the team has performed so well that the fan loyalty and interest has gone up enough to cover the costs. The exchange rate can also impact teams negatively. One example is the Winnipeg Jets. They eventually had to relocate to Arizona because they could not create enough revenue selling in Canadian dollars. The Vancouver Canucks faced a similar problem in 2002. They played their players a total of $62 million US which exchanges to $81 Canadian. This left the team with $19 million Canadian dollars to be made up through other ways. The NHL is the 99th most profitable business in Canada (Maich) and therefore is highly impacted by the exchange rate. • 19. Two Kinds of Interpretations in Amy Tanв Ђ™s Short Story Two... Often times mothers can be pushy, annoying, and a bit overbearing but in the long run they always just want what is best for their child. Everyone wants their child to be the best, most popular and overall number one. In Amy Tan s short story Two Kinds we see this type of fame hungry mother. The short story is about a Chinese familywho lost everything. The motherhad lost her entire family full of children except for the one in the story. With the belief you could be anything you want in America (Tan 305) in mind the mother set off to find what her child can do. This ultimately will resort in disappointment for both the mother and child, as they do not share the same goals throughout the short story. My initial personal interpretation of this piece is that the mother wants to live vicariously through her daughter. This was proven throughout the story time and time again. Through further thought, different literary techniques, and class discussion I became aware of an alternate interpretation of the story. This is that their are two kinds of daughters and the way the mother daughter relationship could be. Both interpretations have many examples to support them and the story can truly be analyzed in more then one way. The mother in the story is sensibly upset about what has happened in the past in China. After losing everything she wanted the best for her daughter, but could this possibly mean she wanted it for herself as well. It seems the mother might have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, this means reform will not happen until the loss or harm of life has already occurred. One example of this was seen in New York, the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire. This fire was the cause of 146 deaths and many more injuries; however, this lead to new law regulating work safety standards. While this is a tragedy that caused reform in 1911, the same method of reform stands today. This can be seen in the novel, Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. The guides first mistake is allowing any bloody idiot [with enough determination] up Everest (Krakauer 153). By allowing any bloody idiot with no climbing experience to try and climb the most challenging mountain in the world, the guides are almost inviting trouble. Having inexperienced climbers decreases the trust a climbing team has in one another, causing an individual approach to climbing the mountain and more reliance on the guides. While this approach appears fine, this fault is seen in addition to another in Scott Fischer s expedition Mountain Madness. Due to the carefree manner in which the expedition was run, clients [moved] up and down the mountain independently during the acclimation period, [Fischer] had to make a number of hurried, unplanned excursions between Base Camp and the upper camps when several clients experienced problems and needed to be escorted down, (154). Two problems present in the Mountain Madness expedition were seen before the summit push: the allowance of inexperienced climbers and an unplanned climbing regime. A third problem that aided disaster was the difference in opinion in regards to the responsibilities of a guide on Everest. One guide went down alone many hours ahead of the clients and went without supplemental oxygen (318). This book causes the reader to examine their own relationships, as well as their lifestyle, in order to evaluate the degree of the reflection of Christ in their incarnational witness. Through his systematic process of self examination and relational observation, combined with intercessory prayer and discipleship ministry, Thompson offers a simple, yet profound method of using personal relationships to share the gospel of Christ with family, friends, coworkers, and complete strangers. He expounds on the principle that mankind is a relational being, created to fellowship with God and other humans, to develop his approach to personal evangelism and, equally important, follow up ... • 37. Analysis Of Ethical Decision And Scandal Analysis of ethical reaction to scandal Introduction The reputation of an organization is crucial. Therefore, being a leader of an organization has to be able to react efficiently and effectively when there is a threat to organization s reputation. Occasionally, a leader has to face a dilemma, whereby one has to decide how to deal with the scandals in the organizations. On one hand, some organizations treat their customers as a mean to gather the profits. On the other hand, other organizations regard their customers as an end, whereby the organizations really consider about customers interests as an ultimate goal of their services. Nonetheless, only the companies that mad the ethical actions survived. Lacking a focus on the welfare of their customers, some propaganda techniques, aiming to cover up the scandals, usually don t work well. Instead, successful public relationship management techniques generally treat their customers welfare as an end not just a mean. For example, a successful crisis management usually contains the honesty and quick reaction. Enron Corporation is a great example to illustrate how damaging it is if company leaders try to hide up the scandals and lie to the public. From Kant s perspective, customers, who are human beings objected to the service provided by organizations, should be treated with dignity, as every rational being exists as an end in himself and not merely as a means to be arbitrarily used by this or that will (Kant 428). When it comes to the social control theory of crime, this is a central concept in understanding why people deviate from legal regulations. When looking at individuals without dependable relationships, a committed presence within their community and an upbringing with specific beliefs, it can be found that people are more likely to follow a life of crimeif they do not present the listed characteristics (Orcutt 2011:97). They interpreted it as an expression of regret that possibilities of life experience are so sharply limited. George claims that there are such complexities to the poem that this interoperation cannot explain everything that it is about. George believes that three distinct ages in the poem exist, and he wants the reader to realize that the speaker faces a choice in the later part of his life, to take a more or less traveled road. Frost gave a warning to readers that the poem was very tricky and the subtle mockery contains a hit. George seems to think that some work by William H. Pritchard, helped to counteract, when some readers tend to ignore significant details of the poem. George also seems to think that readers seem to wish to see Frost follow his instinct on choosing the road less traveled. George likes to think that the speaker holds up an earlier, less wise version of himself for gentle mockery. He also distinguishes this poem from others by holding up to us an older self, whom he also attacks. His younger and older selves are thought to be alike. George views his middle aged self, as the speaker. When he s compared to his middle aged self, both are given to emotion, self deception, and self congratulation. The ability to regulate emotions, thoughts, and behaviors while controlling impulses all have to do with self management and regulation. These social related skills are impacted by one s own temperament. Though temperament is believed to be present at birth, research indicates that there are many environmental factors that can influence temperament. Originally, research on temperament traits in young children were focused on a child s genetic disposition at birth. However; today, environmental influences are considered to be equally important to the influence of a child s temperament development as inborn predispositions. Temperament impacts the young child in many ways, especially in the development of social competence as it relates to the ability to empathize with others and in the development of relationship skills including ability to effectively communicate. Rudasill, Reio, and Stipanovic (2010) research also reiterated that teachers who create positive, nurturing, and affectionate classroom environments are more likely to have students who flourish and assert positive social skills when managing social and behavioral challenges. You have returned to college to earn a Bachelor s degree in order to increase your chances for a promotion. You are nearly finished with your degree, when a supervisor s position in a competing company becomes available in another state. The start date is in two (2) weeks, during your final exam period for your courses. The position offers a $15,000 per year salary increase, a car allowance, and relocation expenses. Your former supervisor works for the company and is recommending you for the position based on your outstanding job performance; if you want the job, it s yours. All of the other supervisors at this level in the company have Master s degrees, so you know that you would be expected to earn your Bachelor s degree and continue on to a Master s degree. Your present company offers tuition reimbursement, but the new company does not. If I would want to throw curveballs some day I should find this out. Are curveballs good to throw? We need to know about how a curveball actually moves before we can learn about its effects on the arm. The movement of a curveball is based off of these two theories: the Bernoulli principle and the Magnus effect. As the teachers could care less about what s going on in their kids love lives, the kids mostly think of it as the center of their life at the time. She sees the other students as simple jungle animals in the wild, survival of the fittest at its best. That s probably the best metaphor someone could compare high school to, a jungle. An incontrollable area where children have to grow up and find out who they are and where they fit in and what they should do.
