Debate - Electronics good or bad for kids

Electronic Use For Children
My thoughts on children using electronic devices are from many points of view.
When I first think of children with electronics I think its a great idea for multiple reasons. But
then I think of all the things that could go wrong too. So in my case I have many opinions on this
subject.
The first thing that came to mind was how good it is for a child. Electronics can stimulate
the brain, and help kids learn, such as a site called ABC mouse for little children. Also
electronics can be used as a research devise or a dictionary. They can learn how to type and use
the electronic correctly and the proper proceeders of taking care of and cleaning electronics.
Another good point is its hands on, even though you are not touching the subject that you may be
studying it still gives your hands something to do. Also there is BYOT (bring your own
technology) occurring at multiple schools to help induce learning. Also, I don’t know other kids,
but I like the feel of having something nice that I own.
Although there are many good aspects there are also problems with children using
electronics too, and as in all good debates its necessary to bring them to light as well. One is as
well as they can stimulate the brain electronics are not exactly good for it either, according to an
article called the guardian and a survey of 1,319 people over-excessive use use of electronics can
lead to depression. It is also said to much reliance on GPS systems can lead to Brain Atrophy.
Not to mention that according to neuroscientist Susan Greenfield social sites such as Twitter or
Facebook can shorten attention spans, make people more self centered and induce instant

gratification. Before I listed BYOT as a good thing, wich it mostly is, but there are some bad
points to that to, such as you dropping it or the electronic is stolen.
Since this is a debate I suppose I have to choose an opinion, so I think electronics are bad,
because I could have listed about 10 more things that make electronics bad.That’s my opinion on
Electronic use for children.
