I support the idea that Internet should be kept
away from children. There are several reasons,
two of which are important. They are violence
and adult content.

follows: knowledge and technology illiteracy
5. Pro 1: Knowledge
The first reason relates with/is related with
knowledge. Internet offers a lot of information in
the multimedia forms such as ebook, games online,
education movies, exercises through the internet.
With the ability to operate Internet, our children
certainly can access these pieces of information
easily. For example, our children can access English
grammar exercises from the internet to improve
their knowledge. This means that children will learn
a variety of information not only from books but
also from Internet.
6. Pro 2:
The second reason is that our children will not be
technology illiterate. Computer with internet
connection is something that cannot be separated
from our lives. Almost of all our activities relate with
computer aspects, including Internet use. For
example, our children nowadays live mobile phones
with internet connection. This trend will be more
intensive in the future. This means that children
should be introduced to technological things,
including Internet so that they will be familiar with
communication technology, including Internet access.

8. Refutation 1
People may say that Internet can pollute children’s
mind by exposing porn materials or violence. This may
be true. However, it can be securely handled if our
children are accompanied when they access the
Internet. Also, we can use software which can filter
porn materials and violence. Not only this, the can be
strongly equipped with religious teaching of our
religion.
Some may argue that Internet influences children in
negative ways.

It may be said that Internet can take most of our
children’s useful time for studying. Some
children may be observed by Internet. This
should not be a big deal if we, parents,
schedule their time to access Internet. For
example, children must finish their homework
before they use Internet. Not only this, they can
use Internet only while they are doing their
homework or other assignments.
10. It is obvious that children should not be kept
away from Internet for the sake of knowledge
and technology illiteracy. Therefore, parents
should provide more access for their children to
be familiar with/to get along with/to use
Internet.
