The Ecological Catastrophe Of The Dust Bowl
Between the 1930s and 1940s, the southwestern Great Plains region of America suffered a severe
environmental disaster known as the Dust Bowl, that resulted from the combination of a huge water
shortage and harsh farming techniques. The drought stricken plains experienced relentless dust storms
that swept through Texas to Nebraska, killing crops, livestock and people. The Dust Bowl further
intensified the devastating economical impacts of the Great Depression and drove hundreds of
families to migrate in search of work and better living conditions all the while capturing the nation s
artists, musicians, and writers.
This ecological catastrophe was caused by both agricultural and federal factors. These factors would
include the federal land policies,

Compare And Contrast Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows
Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in on another still.... love and live in
that which is omnipresent.... they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is
the comfort of friends... though they may be said to die... their friendship and society are... ever
present, because immortal. William Penn, More Fruits of Solitude. Harry Potter and the Deathly
Hollows is J.K. Rowling s seventh book in the Harry Potter series. The series is about a young wizard,
Harry Potter, who has traveled and learned things that will help him defeat his archenemies, The Dark
Lord. In this novel, there are two sides to the story: the good side with Harry Potter and his friends,
and the evil side with Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is
the final novel in a seven book series, about the fight between good and evil. In this novel, Ron
Weasely is on the good side of the battle, while Draco Malfoy is on the evil side. Their relationship is
similar to the Biblical relationship of Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot; they are in a battle of their own.
Every corner they turn, new temptations face them and taunt them to do evil, or act against it and do
what is good. Ron Weasely and Jesus Christ are faced with difficult situations, but are able to
overcome them with humorous remarks and stories. Draco Malfoy and Judas Iscariot are succumbed
in evilness and continue to do wrong, until the end. And are they getting

Benefits Of Free Babysitting On My Home For Parent ( S )
Introduction I decided that I would like to offer free babysitting in my home for parent(s) that needs a
few hours for a job interview, doctor s appointment or have an emergency. I have been searching
around for an organization to go through, but none exist where I live. There were some you have to go
to their place of work, which I understand but I have no transportation to go that far. So I decided to
do this alone. I started on this assignment on week two of July. I started volunteering to babysit
children from age 5 to 8 years old. I started the portion of my painting assignment this week. One
week is to babysit five kids. They looked like controlled little angels. I started small in this volunteer
assignment. I volunteer to babysit a couple of kids for free. Some couples don t have money for
babysitters or extended family nearby. Some school systems are so attuned to their supervisory, child
care function that they offer after school play groups at a normal fee to take care of children until a
parent gets off work and can take the child home (pg. 435). What was observed during this
experience? I observed a lot from this experience. When I was babysitting the children, they always
wanted to be around me always following me. And one of the five kids drew me three sun s on loose
leaf paper. I was observed while babysitting when the children and I were making cupcakes. Having
the babysit these five kids most afternoons, I ve observed that children are aggravatingly

A Plant Based Diet as a Prescriptive Measure: Should Health Care Providers Recommend A Vegan
Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic
Diseases?
David Arthur, MS, PA S
The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration
illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other cause.1 In
2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were responsible for
more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also referred to as
lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle choice as primary
risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle modification.2 The four
primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health Organization, are
cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes mellitus.3 The power of
lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic diseases of our time is well
established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not being obese, getting at least
thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit,
and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing the primary sources of disease and death in
western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these healthy lifestyle choices

Doctor Faustus
I. The play Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlow was first published in Manchester by Manchester
Publishing in 1588, no information about the play s first production date was found.
II. Doctor Faustus is contrived of the following: Faustus, a man well learned in medicine and other
knowledge s known to man is dissatisfied with where his life is heading so he calls upon the Lucifer
and His accomplice, Mephistophilis, to teach him the ways of magic. They agree to be his tutors only
if Faustus will sell his soul to Lucifer and be His after 20 years. Faustus agrees and goes through
trying times where he is unsure of his decision and considers repenting but then is persuaded again
and again that the magic powers of the Devil are far more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mephistophilis is very aware about what is going on around him; he does not miss a detail. That is
why he knows how to manipulate people, especially Faustus, into giving him what he wants.
IV. The language of this play is in literary prose. Since it was written well before 1830 colloquial
prose is automatically ruled out. The dialogue in this play is more the thoughts of the characters
instead of their actual words. For example Faustus says, Faustus, begin thine incantations, And try if
devils will obey thy hest, Seeing thou hast pray d and sacrific d to them. (1.29) Here is alone on stage
talking to himself. Normally people when alone do not talk to themselves, but Marlow uses that time
to tell us what Faustus is doing, it keeps us informed. These words seem to be less natural because
they sound like Faustus thoughts instead of his actual dialogue. An example of stage direction with in
the dialogue is when Mephistophilis says, Faustus, thou shalt: then kneel down presently, Whilst on
thy head I lay my hand, And charm thee with this magic wand. (1.120)
V. As stated before, most of the stage directions are written within the dialogue of the script. The few
stage directions in parentheticals are only the entrances, exits, and exeunts: Damn d be his soul for
ever for this deed! [Exeunt all except FAUSTUS and MEPHISTOPHILIS (1.135) Occasionally,

The Historical Legacy Of Mao Zedong s Legacy
In order to answer the question of whether or not Mao Zedong s overall legacy has been positive or
negative for China, we would first need to be equipped with the knowledge of the historical context
that Mao Zedong was situated in prior to him coming to power in 1949. This historical understanding
is both necessary and crucial since the period before 1949 encompassed both the lingering old central
Chinese ideology, Confucianism, and the new opposing social sentiment at the time to push for
progression in the new era. The coexistence of Confucian values and the social atmosphere at the time
for advancement, both of which influenced and guided Mao Zedong in his later major political
decisions, were both contradictory, and thus, detrimental to China. The Confucian emphasis on correct
practice, [formally expressed in ritual and mouthing of the correct formulations], even if there is little
relationship between those formulations and the people using them (Lieberthal, 1995, p.8) meant that
what is said and what is performed could potentially be in misalignment with each other. Mao s
political campaigns did not necessarily called for practical progressive reform or change. That is, the
correct practice did not necessarily reflected the true intentions of mass mobilizations and other
campaigns such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution which required the collective
effort of a huge populace. In reality, the campaigns that were executed by the population was a

The Supreme Court And The Sexual Revolution
Griswold v. Connecticut, 381 U.S. 479 (1965). Ibid.
Buckley, Jr., William F. Crucial Steps in Combating the Aids Epidemic; Identify All the Carriers. New
York Times: 18 March 1986. Bowers v. Hardwick 478 U.S. 186 (1986).
Ideas about sex, gender and homosexuality have been changing rapidly over the past several decades
in the United States. There are several obvious reasons for this. The primary one is legal: various legal
decisions by the United States Supreme Court have altered existing law on the subject of sex and
homosexuality, and substantially affected matters of gender as expressed in law. But there has also
been a social shift driven by medicine, largely based on response to the AIDS epidemic at its height in
the 1980s and 1990s, but also in terms of other medical matters such as contraception and abortion.
To a certain degree, seeing how these matters have progressed since the 1960s gives a good vantage to
predicting where they will go in the future. In conclusion, I will look at the future of change on these
matters, by examining what seems to be the avant garde regarding matters of sex and gender, the
phenomenon of transsexualism. I hope an examination of transsexualism will point out some of the
contradictions that still continue to exist in American ideas about matters of sex. We are accustomed to
referring to a sexual revolution in the 1960s, but the actual consequences of that social shift were
necessarily reflected in the law. To a

Barbie Harris Interview
Barbie Harris is a 50 year old female who came into our shelter this morning looking for assistance. In
our initial intake and interview this writer can see that all Barbie has with her some belongs: some
clothing, blankets, hygiene products, and her prescriptions, which all fit into a suitcase and backpack.
Barbie states that most nights she tries to stay at one of her 3 close friends house, however they have
families so she does not stay long and interrupt their lives (Summers, 2012, p. 245). Other than those
nights Barbie states she travels from shelter to shelter, at times sleeping on the cold, hard ground. In
discussing Barbie s employment history this writer learns she has been unable to work due to issues
with her mental health. Up until ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This writer learns from Barbie that she has not been making appointments to refill all of her
medications. Furthermore, Barbie had not shown up for her last 2 mammograms, which is extremely
important within the first five years of remission from breast cancer (ASCO, 2001, p. 9). This writer
discussed with Barbie the importance of her health, reluctantly Barbie made an appointment with her
doctor in my office for Monday July 6. In addition, this writer discussed with Barbie the possibility of
accessing free counselling through Alberta Health Services, something she could talk about with her
doctor. Barbie admits to this writer that she is having difficulty coping lately and some counselling
may help. This writer discusses with Barbie that she has been through so many difficulty life events:
the death of her husband, both her parents, surviving cancer, and losing her home. Therefore, having a
difficult time coping is an absolutely normal response to what she has experienced. Switching topics
over to her interests: Barbie tells this writer she actually does not mind picking up bottles and cans
because she like sorting things. This writer also learns from Barbie the she has an extreme eye for
detail. However, both things have not been able to land her a job, even though she used to work as a
mail sorter while she took care of her parent before her mental health issues began. Now Barbie
claims no one will hire me . This writer encourages Barbie to learn more about her current health
status when she meets her doctor, so that she will know what tools to acquire. This writer discusses
with Barbie how the Canadian Mental Health Association has many resources available for people
facing serious mental illness and those struggling with disabilities who would like to work (CMHA,
2015, p. 1). It is a human right for men and women to have the freedom to work so they may live in

Significance Of Imperialism In Russia
By the start of the twentieth century Russia had made expansions into the Far East, and the growth of
its settlement and territorial ambitions clashed with the regional ambitions of the Japanese Empire on
the Chinese and Asian mainland. It was only a matter of time before tensions came to a head, and war
between the two nations began on February 8, 1904 when a Japanese torpedo squadron entered Port
Arthur, attacked the Russian squadron, and disabled the three best vessels the Tsesarevitch, the
Retvizan, and the Pallada [6]. Japan would go on to win a succession of crucial victories over the
Russians, who underestimated the military potential of its opponent. These crushing defeats served to
convince Russia that additional fighting against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Petersburg. Barricades were necessary in the Vyborg district as well as Vasilievskii Island. Trams were
upturned, and strikers managed to break through the cordons of troops, penetrating the city center onto
Nevskii Prospect [19]. When war was declared the following day, July 20, 1914, Nicholas II appeared
at Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. While attending a religious service, he echoed his father, Alexander
I s vow that he could not make peace as long as one of the enemy remained on the soil of the
fatherland [20]. Patriotic demonstration took to the streets of the capital where they challenged
foreigners, however as reservists were call into the ranks from the peasants and workers and they
mobilized in protest, burning and plundering estates. During the first few months of the war, defeats
and immense losses served to dispel the initial elation of the Russian people. Soon the provisioning of
the troops and of the cities became increasingly difficult. Prices soared, but grain prices lagged behind
industrial products, and the peasants began holding back their crops. Each year a diminishing
percentage of the harvest reached the cities, whose populations were growing rapidly. By the spring of
1915, the strike movement had resumed as workers lost patience with spiraling inflation and the bleak
prospects in the war [21]. By 1916, the social and governmental problems that

John Waters Film Techniques
Director John Waters is mostly regarded as making films subjected to shock value or are in poor taste
and are mainly there to make a person laugh or over exaggerate the roles of actors and actresses at this
time, but they had also stretched boundaries in which case that the censors didn t whether or not to
classify his earlier films as pornography. John has a style closer towards formalism. His scripts weren
t as detailed as say Hitchcock and they were mostly a spur of the moment type deal. John started
making films when he was about 16 and his grandmother gave him an old camcorder. He shot mainly
in 8 or 16 mm films. In the mid 60s to early 70s, he would make films with his childhood friends and
would mainly star them, but would eventually amass more different types ... Show more content on

He did play more than just female roles, but mainly his roles were lead female roles. John likes to use
the weirdest and foulest types of people in his films and likes to use similar subject matter. What was
considered grotesque and shocking back in the mid 60s and early 70s to a group of young catholic
teenagers were primarily a huge part in the plots of his films at the time which would be anything
adhering to the realm of homosexuality or sin in general. Pink Flamingos (1972) was about Divine and
her family verses another group of horrid individuals for the title of the filthiest people alive. If John
were to still be making films today, he would probably be using the same subject matter, but with a
modern twist. His film Hairspray in 1988 was surprisingly his first PG rated film. A short essay titled
The Nicest Kids in Town that John wrote for his 1981 book called Shock Value, is where he spoke
about his love and obsession with all the dance crazes of the time and watching Baltimore s own real
life equivalent to the Corny Collins Show called the Buddy Deane

Archetypal Patterns In Little Miss Sunshine And As I Lay...
Characters in stories follow archetypal patterns, whether it is something as simple as hero vs. villain,
or something more elaborate like a scapegoat or a rake. In the movie Little Miss Sunshine we follow
the Hoover family on their quest to fulfill self motivated goals, similar to that of the novel As I Lay
Dying by William Faulkner. In the novel, Faulkner sets up the premise for one of the most widely
accepted journey plots in literature, and the archetypal themes are carried over into the movie Little
Miss Sunshine. There are many parallels between the novel and the movie, including the more
contemporary ideas of a journey portrayed in Little Miss Sunshine. Following an archetypal basis, the
movie provides the audience with the hardships ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a primary goal in mind, they must reach California in order for Olive to compete in the pageant
similar to the goal set in mind of the Bundrens (Arndt). Using the model that As I Lay Dying puts for
the journey archetype, Little Miss Sunshine follows a similar flow of journey, obstacle, and repeat.
The first real obstacle that the Hoovers encounter is their car breaking down. Similar to the loss of the
wagon that the Bundrens suffered at the river, their means of transportation is sabotaged. While the
Hoover s solution was much simpler, just having to push [the car] up to ten, fifteen miles an hour to
get the transmission into gear, the obstacle that was placed in front of them was still big enough to
cause them a delay on their time sensitive quest (Arndt). The modern idea of poverty is also another
big obstacle that the Hoovers must overcome. Coming from a lower class family, their car breaks
down; they don t have any insurance, and are unable to take care of grandpa after he passes away.
Having to resort to drastic measures, most of their decisions aren t thought through very carefully and
are instead sporadic and on the spot. Being virtually broke, Richard has to juggle his personal and
professional life, teaching twenty students in a classroom that could seat two hundred (Arndt). Life
itself is a task to

The imprint made on adolescents has a profound impact on the rest of their lives and can be linked to
many struggles people may have. Certainly this was the case with Kerouac and it was common of the
time to lack supportive parents. My aunt was all in accord with my trip out west; she said it would do
me good. (Kerouac 9) This is evident that Kerouac s parents were not around later in his life to guide
him and encourage him. This proves that if Kerouac was raised with two caring parents he would have
had a mucher higher chance of getting a real job and not dropping out of Columbia University. Had he
been more scholastically focused in his youth he would have had reason to settle down with a family
and not galavant all over the country. Older brother Gerard died at a young age. (Weinrich) We know
that as a young boy Kerouac looked up to his brother who died when they were both young. During
difficult times in his adulthood, his sorrow would worsen as he remembered his late brother. This may
have been the case for other young men of the time to lose siblings, important family members, or

Renewable Energy Sources In The United States
The United States of America is large user of fossil fuels, such as petroleum, coal, and other fuels to
fuel things like cars, machines, fireplaces, and more. The US has considered using alternative energy
sources, such as solar panels, to power their devices. Some people believe that we should keep using
fossil fuels because they cost less.
Renewable energy sources are good for the environment but some people frown upon the idea of
having renewable energy sources. They are more expensive than fossil fuels and nonrenewable energy
sources. A Lot of energy needs to be put in both the research and manufacturing of nonrenewable
resources. Renewable energy sources are cheaper because of the energy source already having the

How Is Napoleon Bonaparte A Hero
Napoleon Bonaparte was the French leader in the late 1700s. He is known as an intelligent and clever
military leader. He went to military school at the age of nine, and finished school at the age of 16
eventually becoming a lieutenant in the artillery. Napoleon Bonaparte had many successes and
failures, however his failures overpowered his successes which makes him a tyrant. While leading he
went into many wars and lost many soldiers. By the end many people were not on his side and many
did not believe in what he was doing as the leader of France, therefore making him a villain for
France. Napoleon Bonaparte had many weaknesses as a leader which caused him to have many
defeats. The Directory selected Napoleon to lead the French army in 1796 and this is what got him
started leading France and the people. To defend French trade Napoleon took his army to Europe and
the British army trapped Napoleon and his army. Napoleon manipulated the people by keeping what
had happened out of the news so that he could be known as a great hero to the French people. If he did
not cover up that he was defeated and was trapped the French people might have realized that he
failed at his duty and was not the best for leader for the army. ... Show more content on

Pros And Cons Of The False Prophets
This is not an occasional romp or moral lapse found among some ministers, Peter says that the false
prophet is bent and cannot cease from sin (II Peter 2:14). This is the description of a reprobate. As
false prophets seek to deceive the people of God, they themselves are deceived (II Timothy 3:13). The
Spirit of the living God keeps us all. Upon the new birth, which is the resurrection of the human spirit,
lies the DNA of God Himself. We have an element within us that cannot sin. Our task is to allow this
element to have mastery over our soul and body. Sin failures that are committed during this process
are covered by the Blood. The Holy Spirit is there to patiently wait for us to navigate our way into the
holiness of God through not only a renewed mind, but a made up mind as well. Daily crucifying the
flesh is the responsibility of every believer; but because the relationship with the divine keeping agent
(the Holy Spirit) is non existent, the false prophet is sucked into the vortex of lust, from which there is
no deliverance.

The Importance Of Fear In John Connolly s The Book Of Lost...
Everyone is in control of their actions. One must be held accountable for . Sometimes though, fear can
infiltrate one s mind and block their ability to make rational decisions. In John Connolly s The Book
of Lost Things , it is evident that fear plays a large role in how David, Beauty and Beast find love and
how the King and wicked Queen in Snow white rule their kingdoms. Some overcome their fears while
others allow it to consume them and cloud their judgement. If one succumbs to their fears it can deter
them from finding love. In the novel, after David s mother dies, he has this constant fear that the
memory of her will be lost if he accepts Rose as his stepmother therefore pushing her away and
refusing to allow her into his life. For the majority of the time that David knows Rose, he always
avoids her, but when she finally yells at him, David shows how he truly feels by declaring You re not
my mother...He still loves loves my mum, just like I do. He still thinks of her, and he s never going to
love you the way he loved her, not ever. It doesn t matter what you do or what you say. He still loves
her. (58 59). It is in this moment that David allows his fear to grab hold of his actions and take control.
The fear of losing his mother indefinitely, gets the best of him and doesn t allow him to open up his
heart to Rose. Not only does he push her away but he also rejects the idea of Georgie the second his
father brings up that Rose is pregnant. He avoids the both of

The class did very well in terms of the accuracy and precision of class A pipettes. The tolerance for
class A pipettes is ±.006 for 1mL, ±.01 for 5 mL, and ± .02 for 10 mL (. As a whole the class did rather
well in terms of the expected accuracy and precision of the class A glassware. I found the expected
values from a website. The student who had the best calibration was student number 1. There recorded
values were within the closest range of each pipette. I believe that my data is not within the best

Publically listing his company on the share market would be a great way to raise capital through share
purchase. Investors would be attracted to the positive results Green Cabs have already achieved and
would not hestitate to buy shares in the business. This would make expansion more feasible and allow
for and easier entrance into some of harder areas. As a sole proprietor, Callum Brown is solely in
charge of the direction of the firm. The case study does not stipulate whether or not he has any
external influences to aid his decision making. As Green Cabs begins to grow, it will make Callum s
workload much heavier, and he may struggle to make the best decisions for the firm. Raising capital
through selling shares would allow positive growth within the firm as Callum Brown can afford to
hire a management team in order to make more efficient and calculated business decisions. This could
have negative effects to the business. With a strong set of values set by Callum, Green Cabs has a very
positive image which attracts customers. Introducing new management introduces new ideas and
potentially differing values. Callum is open with the fact that he doesn t desire millions of dollars from

Essay On Fire Chief Kenneth Everett
There are leaders and there are followers in life, a great example of a leader would be my Fire Chief
Kenneth Everett. To be a leader you have to have many skills that set you apart from being someone
that follows. You have to be able to talk to anyone on the department and know how they react to
certain ways you talk to them. A Chief should be able to motivate anyone to want to continue doing
something whether you just walked out of the roughest call you have ever been on or you have just
lost interest in the Fire Department all together. You also have to be able to handle a large group or
even a small group in some of the toughest environments. Kenneth has had the ability to talk to
everyone in the FD in a manner that doesn t let them feel run over or degraded. One time we had a

Kenneth constantly for a week tried to get him back then one day he just stopped asking and let him

about him and he was wanting to come back then when he turned 18 he got into it for a little while
then he lost some interest and we got a bad call one day while he was with me and I made him go and
he got out and started working right along with everyone and has quit again since that day six months
ago. In conclusion, Kenneth is a leader that shows great qualities in many ways that everyone doesn t

Sean Mannion Case Study
The last time a football team played in Los Angeles was in 1994 and that was with the Los Angeles
Rams and Los Angeles Raiders. Both teams left after the 1994 season. The Raiders returned back to
Oakland and the Rams relocated to St. Louis. Fortunately for football fans in Los Angeles, the Rams
returned back to LA this year. They played their first preseason game in LA on Saturday and beat the
Dallas Cowboys by 4 points in a 28 24 comeback finish. The Rams played mediocrely, but finished
strong especially with surprisingly good QB, Sean Mannion who wasn t even expected to get a role in
the QB position this year. Sean Mannion went 18/25 for 147 yards and 3 TD with 1 INT. Case
Keenum, the presumptive regular season starter did go 6/7 for 58 yards and no TD or INT and a RTG
of 101.2. Case Keenum played well for the time he was in, but only got 7 attempts in, so it is hard to
say what his true value is at this point. Unfortunately, 2016 overall first round pick, Jared Goff played
a somewhat lackluster game and left with a minor shoulder injury. Goff went 4/9 for 38 ... Show more

Pros And Cons Of Drinking Water
The Carlsbad desalination idea is not a practical way to get drinking water for the people of
California. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than
pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find
other ways to get water for the Californians?
First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries
One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will
cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water
now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much
more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not
a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project
is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that
desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do
nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. Think about it this way: say that a county has 150
homes in it (which isn t even a close number, by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply
that by 2,257. The total is 338,550, meaning it will take approximately $350,000 to supply these
homes with only 7% of the water that they

Kia Motors is a company that sells the Kia Soul, an electric car. I started noticing people driving these
cars a few years ago after seeing the company s commercial. The commercial contains dancing
hamsters with fun lights, music, and colors. This attracts people and gets them thinking that if they
buy this car then they will have fun too. The car also comes in different colors and is designed in a
streamlined shape to give it a futuristic look. This is a great strategy not only to sell the product, but

Despite the fact that there are many tests today that are faster and cheaper that do not require the use
of animals, there are multiple cosmetic companies that still support animal cruelty. One type of test
that is done on animals is the acute toxicity test. It determines the toxic consequences of a single, short
term exposure to a product. They are given to animals in high doses by force feeding, inhalation, or
absorption through the skin. Also, companies often use rabbits, because their eyes are similar to the
human eye. They use rabbits to test their perfumes and makeup products to see if they are eye irritants.
The animals go through severe abdominal pain, convulsions, seizures, and/ or paralysis. (peta.org). If

Rap Vs Rap Genre
Although millions of people listen to music everyday, many people never take notice of how many
genres exist throughout the world. Two genres that take popular notice in the music industry, that may
be considered as opposite sides of the coin , the genres can easily be compared and contrasted, no
matter which compare or contrast side is favored. The Broadway genre, which is notably alongside
musical theatrics, or simply theatrics in general, is not only for the sophisticated population in it s
essence, but is even favored by adolescents of all ages. Due to the variety of musicals that have been
created throughout the past one hundred years, there is a musical for any type of person, no matter
how much or how little they favor the Broadway genre. The rap genre, however, can seem extremely
different from most genres of music. Nevertheless, if a person finds an area of the rap genre that
comes to their own liking, they may come to the realization that not all of it is the same, which can be
true. Typically, rap, which stands for rhythm and poetry , has a fast paced, recurring beat, with a
vocalist rhythmically speaking patterned lyrics throughout a song. In many popular songs today, rap
can take up an entire song, or simply be put in a single verse in another vocalist s performance.
Although the rap genre and Broadway genre are slightly similar in terms of the music production, they
are, however, significantly different in the way that they are performed, and the reasons why

Have you ever heard about the Chernobyl accident? Lots of people, plants, and animals were affected,
even people were from cancer and diseases. The clean up took a lot of time and money to do. People,
plants, animals, and land are still affected today by Chernobyl.
The Chernobyl accident was an accident that affected a lot of people. On April 25, 1986, there was a
big accident called the Chernobyl accident that affected a lot of people and places. It happened beause
a crew was doing a test and hot fuel had combined with cold water and that created rapid steam, which

in 2046 to have the equipment removed, and in 2064 to destroy the place.
Chernobyl had caused a lot of people, plants, and animals to be affected. 2.5 million people were
affected. Of those people, 330,000 were relocated, 28 workers were killed from radiation and thermal
burns, and out of those workers, 19 died between 1987 and 2004, 1,000 rescue workers had gotten
radiation, and 100,000 people were disabled after the disaster. Birds had gotten smaller brains from
radiation, the Bumblebees, butterflies, grasshoppers, dragonflies, and spiders populations had

Major Career Milestones
The bible suggests that the sins of the father can haunt multiple generations of a family before finally
being resolved. But this was written long ago, when people generally did not live very long and did
not have the incredible resources modern peoples can access in terms of knowledge, material
resources and medical care.
Today, many of us are able to live down any childhood baggage we started out with and eventually
create the life of our dreams. For some people, age 50 is about when all the work of their early adult
life seems to pay off, giving them much more of the life they desire rather than the one their parents
wanted for them.

For men, this can mean changing the diapers of the grandkids even though they never changed the
diapers of their own children. It can mean slowing down and making time for family now that major
career milestones have been ticked off.
For women, it can be an excellent time to go back to school, start a business or otherwise launch a
serious career knowing they can give more of a commitment to work than they could when the
children were little. It can be a time when they feel more comfortable investing in themselves in some
way, having filled some internal quota for caring for others. They can feel psychological freer to live a
more empowered life and can feel less pressure to people please.
Those who stop to assess the journey they have already taken and make some plans for the years
ahead are more likely to get the most out of this important milestone. Counting what we have already
done can be freeing and empowering. Planning what comes next can help make the years ahead an
adventure to embrace.
For modern people, age 50 can be an important milestone. Those who take the time to look back on
their lives and to also make plans for the years ahead are generally more satisfied with this milestone

Argumentative Essay On Role Playing Games
Kids all across America play role playing games that involve shooting each other with water guns
which sounds harmless and innocent but some people think different. A select hand of people think
that kids and teenagers playing role playing games are violent and could lead the kids into a troubled
future, but they really are just harmless. The reasons for why role playing games like senior assassin
are harless are that it isn t real killing, it doesn t involve real guns, no one gets hurt, and that it is
usually set up by the school that all of the students attend. But on the other hand the people that think
that it is violent have no real evidence and only say things like someone could get hurt, but from what
the water, and they also say that it involves weapons but that really doesn t mean anything.
The evidence for why it is harmless is because there has never been a death or killing from playing
those harmless games because there is nothing wrong with them. Others say that the game is very
dangerous but there is no evidence for that, the only thing that they say is that it simulates violence but
there is really nothing violent about it, besides that the game is just fun. A quote from an article called
Violent video games may stop crime by keeping criminals busy playing violent video games and in
that it says violent video games may have directly contributed to the decrease in real world violence.
That quote really means a lot because it is saying that there is

Essay on Gender Roles in Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe
Upon an initial reading of Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart, it is easy to blame the demise of
Okonkwo s life and of the Umofia community on the imperialistic invasions of the white men. After
all, Okonkwo seemed to be enjoying relative peace and happiness before then. He did have a few
mishaps; one of them resulted in him being exiled for eight years. Nonetheless, he returned to his
home town with high spirits and with prospects of increased success. However, everything has
changed. The white men have brought with them a new religion and a new government. Okonkwo s
family falls apart. The men in his village lose their courage and valor; they do not offer any resistance
to the white men. Consequently, Okonkwo kills ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the crops were gendered (Okhamafe 127). Coco yams, beans, and cassava were women s crops
(Achebe 23). Yam, the king of crops , was a man s crop (Achebe 23). In Umofia, all that is desirable
and admired is associated with manliness. Anything that is demeaning or scornful is considered to be
womanly. Okonkwo life is dominated by fear, the fear of failure and of weakness (Achebe 13). When
Okonkwo was a boy, his playmates teased him calling, saying that his father was agbala. Okonkwo s
father, Unoka, was lazy. He did not work on his farm; he died in great debt. He did not acquire a single
title. He did not have a barn to pass down to his son. Unoka is a type of man who is scorned in
Umofia. He is seen as weak and effeminate. As Okonkwo grows older, he is determined not become a
failure like his father. His father was weak; he will be strong. His father was lazy; he will be hard
working. Okonkwo earned his fame by defeating the reigning wrestling champion. Okonkwo
diligently plants yam, building a successful farm. He builds himself an obi, has three wives and many
children. His fame rested on solid personal achievements (Achebe 3). Okonkwo will not let one
womanly trait sully his reputation. Therefore, he hate[d] everything that his father Unoka had loved

Abstract
Android is becoming the most used smartphone operating system all over the world since the first
version of Android was released at 2008. In this research paper, I systemize most important milestones
from Android 1.0 to Android 6.0 based on the description from Google Inc. During the collection of
Android versions, I highlight the most influential changes for Android s development.
Keywords: Android, feature, history
1. Introduction
According to Kidman. A (2014), the most popular smartphone operating system globally is Android,
and it has about 80.6% of market share. People may want to know how Android becomes the most

2.1.1 Quick Search Box. As people all know, the major character of Google is its searching function.
Android s Quick Search Box is ubiquitous. User can use this function to get search results from both
phone local content and website at once. It highly improves processing efficiency. Quick Search Box
created the idea that make smartphone as a convenient device.
2.1.2 Screen Size Diversity. People are more likely to use big screen phones than small screen phones.
Before the period of big screen phones, people used to use screen size around 2.4 inches. After iPhone
comes, people seem like to use big screen phones than before. However, the phone s featuring
displays was limited by 320*480 portrait. Because of the featuring displays limitation, it is hard for
manufactories to make big screen phones. Thanks to capabilities launched with Donut which allowed
Android to run on a variety of screen resolutions and aspect ratios. This opened the door for phones
featuring displays other than 320*480 portrait. With the higher portrait, manufacturers can design
bigger screen phones with an acceptable and distinct definition.
2.1.3 Android Market. Android Market is the predecessor of Google Play. Because of the invention of
Android Market, user can install applications by

Prior to the program s development, each hotel within the Starwood umbrella of brands (Sheraton,
Westin, Luxury Collection, W, Four Points, and St. Regis) had its own approach for working with
planners. The video presents the problems with the old approach, and includes a point for instructors
to pause the video, if desired, to discuss this question: What changes do you think Starwood
implemented to turn this situation and the meeting planning process into a competitive weapon? After
the break, the video wraps up by showing how Starwood resolved the issues of inconsistency and
meeting planner expectations to create loyalty to the company.
Inputs come from hotel managers and employees who participate in the meeting planning process
such as the on site meeting coordinator, banquet and catering managers, hotel rooms managers, and
support departments (bell staff, stewarding), information from meeting planners regarding program
details, meeting room and hotel room reservation requirements, and food beverage needs, equipment
such as Nextel radio phones, and materials, facilities and services like food ingredients, banquet linens
and tables, and computer services. The output of Starwood s meeting planning process is a
successfully planned meeting, as evidenced by the scores and comments returned on the meeting
planner surveys.

The Conflict Of The Workplace
Conflict and knowing how to resolve the conflict are necessary in today s workforce.
Multigenerational workforces may generate more conflict than most related to the differences in job
performance. Moore (1986) states, conflict is a struggle between two or more people over values,
competition for status, power and scarce resources. (Moore, 1986, p. 64) Conflict can occur within
one individual, between two or more individuals, within one group, or between two or more groups.

upset that they risked a respiratory arrest for transfer ease. I asked the nurse, What made you think that
this mode of oxygenation was acceptable for transfer when in report other oxygen delivery was being
used? The question was not very well received and I was informed that the respiratory lead instructed
her that this mode of transportation was acceptable. The conflict escalated from that point due to the
fact that I had stated in return, obviously you can see that it was not acceptable and it s your job to be
an advocate for this patient, I know that you have access to portable ventilators because we use them

and had become a true ICU nurse. The humiliation that the emergency room nurse was now facing
grew exponentially at that point and I felt terrible as well, not realizing that everyone had heard what
had transpired because the unit was so quiet and the patient status had drawn so much attention.
Interpersonal conflict had occurred originally and then escalated into intergroup conflict in a matter of
moments. The conflict was quickly forgotten by me due to

Northern Paiutes Native American Indian Culture
The Paiutes are a Native American Indian tribe made up of several bands throughout the western part
of the United States, also known as the Great Basin region (Ruby 222). The Northern Paiutes
populated areas of Oregon, California, Nevada, and Idaho; and inquiries as to how the environment
might have affected their interactions, migration, and social behavior is a topic of great interest in
Oregon archeology. The Northern Paiutes who practiced the ancestral lifeway well into the 19th
century, were heirs to an extremely ancient cultural tradition (Aikens 13). Historical archeological

greatly affected by the environment. Spring, summer, and fall months were spent hunting and

  • 2. The Ecological Catastrophe Of The Dust Bowl Between the 1930s and 1940s, the southwestern Great Plains region of America suffered a severe environmental disaster known as the Dust Bowl, that resulted from the combination of a huge water shortage and harsh farming techniques. The drought stricken plains experienced relentless dust storms that swept through Texas to Nebraska, killing crops, livestock and people. The Dust Bowl further intensified the devastating economical impacts of the Great Depression and drove hundreds of families to migrate in search of work and better living conditions all the while capturing the nation s artists, musicians, and writers. This ecological catastrophe was caused by both agricultural and federal factors. These factors would include the federal land policies, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare And Contrast Harry Potter And The Deathly Hollows Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in on another still.... love and live in that which is omnipresent.... they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends... though they may be said to die... their friendship and society are... ever present, because immortal. William Penn, More Fruits of Solitude. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is J.K. Rowling s seventh book in the Harry Potter series. The series is about a young wizard, Harry Potter, who has traveled and learned things that will help him defeat his archenemies, The Dark Lord. In this novel, there are two sides to the story: the good side with Harry Potter and his friends, and the evil side with Lord Voldemort and his Death Eaters. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows is the final novel in a seven book series, about the fight between good and evil. In this novel, Ron Weasely is on the good side of the battle, while Draco Malfoy is on the evil side. Their relationship is similar to the Biblical relationship of Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot; they are in a battle of their own. Every corner they turn, new temptations face them and taunt them to do evil, or act against it and do what is good. Ron Weasely and Jesus Christ are faced with difficult situations, but are able to overcome them with humorous remarks and stories. Draco Malfoy and Judas Iscariot are succumbed in evilness and continue to do wrong, until the end. And are they getting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Benefits Of Free Babysitting On My Home For Parent ( S ) Introduction I decided that I would like to offer free babysitting in my home for parent(s) that needs a few hours for a job interview, doctor s appointment or have an emergency. I have been searching around for an organization to go through, but none exist where I live. There were some you have to go to their place of work, which I understand but I have no transportation to go that far. So I decided to do this alone. I started on this assignment on week two of July. I started volunteering to babysit children from age 5 to 8 years old. I started the portion of my painting assignment this week. One week is to babysit five kids. They looked like controlled little angels. I started small in this volunteer assignment. I volunteer to babysit a couple of kids for free. Some couples don t have money for babysitters or extended family nearby. Some school systems are so attuned to their supervisory, child care function that they offer after school play groups at a normal fee to take care of children until a parent gets off work and can take the child home (pg. 435). What was observed during this experience? I observed a lot from this experience. When I was babysitting the children, they always wanted to be around me always following me. And one of the five kids drew me three sun s on loose leaf paper. I was observed while babysitting when the children and I were making cupcakes. Having the babysit these five kids most afternoons, I ve observed that children are aggravatingly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Should Health Care Providers Recommend A Vegan Diet For... A Plant Based Diet as a Prescriptive Measure: Should Health Care Providers Recommend A Vegan Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic Diseases? David Arthur, MS, PA S The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other cause.1 In 2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were responsible for more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also referred to as lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle choice as primary risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle modification.2 The four primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health Organization, are cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes mellitus.3 The power of lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic diseases of our time is well established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not being obese, getting at least thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing the primary sources of disease and death in western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these healthy lifestyle choices ... • 6. Doctor Faustus I. The play Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlow was first published in Manchester by Manchester Publishing in 1588, no information about the play s first production date was found. II. Doctor Faustus is contrived of the following: Faustus, a man well learned in medicine and other knowledge s known to man is dissatisfied with where his life is heading so he calls upon the Lucifer and His accomplice, Mephistophilis, to teach him the ways of magic. They agree to be his tutors only if Faustus will sell his soul to Lucifer and be His after 20 years. Faustus agrees and goes through trying times where he is unsure of his decision and considers repenting but then is persuaded again and again that the magic powers of the Devil are far more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mephistophilis is very aware about what is going on around him; he does not miss a detail. That is why he knows how to manipulate people, especially Faustus, into giving him what he wants. IV. The language of this play is in literary prose. Since it was written well before 1830 colloquial prose is automatically ruled out. The dialogue in this play is more the thoughts of the characters instead of their actual words. For example Faustus says, Faustus, begin thine incantations, And try if devils will obey thy hest, Seeing thou hast pray d and sacrific d to them. (1.29) Here is alone on stage talking to himself. Normally people when alone do not talk to themselves, but Marlow uses that time to tell us what Faustus is doing, it keeps us informed. These words seem to be less natural because they sound like Faustus thoughts instead of his actual dialogue. An example of stage direction with in the dialogue is when Mephistophilis says, Faustus, thou shalt: then kneel down presently, Whilst on thy head I lay my hand, And charm thee with this magic wand. (1.120) V. As stated before, most of the stage directions are written within the dialogue of the script. The few stage directions in parentheticals are only the entrances, exits, and exeunts: Damn d be his soul for ever for this deed! [Exeunt all except FAUSTUS and MEPHISTOPHILIS (1.135) Occasionally, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Historical Legacy Of Mao Zedong s Legacy In order to answer the question of whether or not Mao Zedong s overall legacy has been positive or negative for China, we would first need to be equipped with the knowledge of the historical context that Mao Zedong was situated in prior to him coming to power in 1949. This historical understanding is both necessary and crucial since the period before 1949 encompassed both the lingering old central Chinese ideology, Confucianism, and the new opposing social sentiment at the time to push for progression in the new era. The coexistence of Confucian values and the social atmosphere at the time for advancement, both of which influenced and guided Mao Zedong in his later major political decisions, were both contradictory, and thus, detrimental to China. The Confucian emphasis on correct practice, [formally expressed in ritual and mouthing of the correct formulations], even if there is little relationship between those formulations and the people using them (Lieberthal, 1995, p.8) meant that what is said and what is performed could potentially be in misalignment with each other. Mao s political campaigns did not necessarily called for practical progressive reform or change. That is, the correct practice did not necessarily reflected the true intentions of mass mobilizations and other campaigns such as the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution which required the collective effort of a huge populace. In reality, the campaigns that were executed by the population was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Supreme Court And The Sexual Revolution Griswold v. Connecticut, 381 U.S. 479 (1965). Ibid. Buckley, Jr., William F. Crucial Steps in Combating the Aids Epidemic; Identify All the Carriers. New York Times: 18 March 1986. Bowers v. Hardwick 478 U.S. 186 (1986). Ideas about sex, gender and homosexuality have been changing rapidly over the past several decades in the United States. There are several obvious reasons for this. The primary one is legal: various legal decisions by the United States Supreme Court have altered existing law on the subject of sex and homosexuality, and substantially affected matters of gender as expressed in law. But there has also been a social shift driven by medicine, largely based on response to the AIDS epidemic at its height in the 1980s and 1990s, but also in terms of other medical matters such as contraception and abortion. To a certain degree, seeing how these matters have progressed since the 1960s gives a good vantage to predicting where they will go in the future. In conclusion, I will look at the future of change on these matters, by examining what seems to be the avant garde regarding matters of sex and gender, the phenomenon of transsexualism. I hope an examination of transsexualism will point out some of the contradictions that still continue to exist in American ideas about matters of sex. We are accustomed to referring to a sexual revolution in the 1960s, but the actual consequences of that social shift were necessarily reflected in the law. To a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In our initial intake and interview this writer can see that all Barbie has with her some belongs: some clothing, blankets, hygiene products, and her prescriptions, which all fit into a suitcase and backpack. Barbie states that most nights she tries to stay at one of her 3 close friends house, however they have families so she does not stay long and interrupt their lives (Summers, 2012, p. 245). Furthermore, Barbie had not shown up for her last 2 mammograms, which is extremely important within the first five years of remission from breast cancer (ASCO, 2001, p. 9). This writer discussed with Barbie the importance of her health, reluctantly Barbie made an appointment with her doctor in my office for Monday July 6. In addition, this writer discussed with Barbie the possibility of accessing free counselling through Alberta Health Services, something she could talk about with her doctor. Barbie admits to this writer that she is having difficulty coping lately and some counselling may help. This writer discusses with Barbie that she has been through so many difficulty life events: the death of her husband, both her parents, surviving cancer, and losing her home. Therefore, having a difficult time coping is an absolutely normal response to what she has experienced. Switching topics over to her interests: Barbie tells this writer she actually does not mind picking up bottles and cans because she like sorting things. This writer also learns from Barbie the she has an extreme eye for detail. However, both things have not been able to land her a job, even though she used to work as a mail sorter while she took care of her parent before her mental health issues began. Now Barbie claims no one will hire me . This writer encourages Barbie to learn more about her current health status when she meets her doctor, so that she will know what tools to acquire. This writer discusses with Barbie how the Canadian Mental Health Association has many resources available for people facing serious mental illness and those struggling with disabilities who would like to work (CMHA, 2015, p. 1). • 10. Significance Of Imperialism In Russia By the start of the twentieth century Russia had made expansions into the Far East, and the growth of its settlement and territorial ambitions clashed with the regional ambitions of the Japanese Empire on the Chinese and Asian mainland. It was only a matter of time before tensions came to a head, and war between the two nations began on February 8, 1904 when a Japanese torpedo squadron entered Port Arthur, attacked the Russian squadron, and disabled the three best vessels the Tsesarevitch, the Retvizan, and the Pallada [6]. Japan would go on to win a succession of crucial victories over the Russians, who underestimated the military potential of its opponent. These crushing defeats served to convince Russia that additional fighting against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Petersburg. Barricades were necessary in the Vyborg district as well as Vasilievskii Island. Trams were upturned, and strikers managed to break through the cordons of troops, penetrating the city center onto Nevskii Prospect [19]. When war was declared the following day, July 20, 1914, Nicholas II appeared at Winter Palace in St. Petersburg. While attending a religious service, he echoed his father, Alexander I s vow that he could not make peace as long as one of the enemy remained on the soil of the fatherland [20]. Patriotic demonstration took to the streets of the capital where they challenged foreigners, however as reservists were call into the ranks from the peasants and workers and they mobilized in protest, burning and plundering estates. During the first few months of the war, defeats and immense losses served to dispel the initial elation of the Russian people. Soon the provisioning of the troops and of the cities became increasingly difficult. Prices soared, but grain prices lagged behind industrial products, and the peasants began holding back their crops. Each year a diminishing percentage of the harvest reached the cities, whose populations were growing rapidly. By the spring of 1915, the strike movement had resumed as workers lost patience with spiraling inflation and the bleak prospects in the war [21]. • 11. John Waters Film Techniques Director John Waters is mostly regarded as making films subjected to shock value or are in poor taste and are mainly there to make a person laugh or over exaggerate the roles of actors and actresses at this time, but they had also stretched boundaries in which case that the censors didn t whether or not to classify his earlier films as pornography. John has a style closer towards formalism. His scripts weren t as detailed as say Hitchcock and they were mostly a spur of the moment type deal. John started making films when he was about 16 and his grandmother gave him an old camcorder. He shot mainly in 8 or 16 mm films. In the mid 60s to early 70s, he would make films with his childhood friends and would mainly star them, but would eventually amass more different types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He did play more than just female roles, but mainly his roles were lead female roles. John likes to use the weirdest and foulest types of people in his films and likes to use similar subject matter. What was considered grotesque and shocking back in the mid 60s and early 70s to a group of young catholic teenagers were primarily a huge part in the plots of his films at the time which would be anything adhering to the realm of homosexuality or sin in general. Pink Flamingos (1972) was about Divine and her family verses another group of horrid individuals for the title of the filthiest people alive. If John were to still be making films today, he would probably be using the same subject matter, but with a modern twist. His film Hairspray in 1988 was surprisingly his first PG rated film. A short essay titled The Nicest Kids in Town that John wrote for his 1981 book called Shock Value, is where he spoke about his love and obsession with all the dance crazes of the time and watching Baltimore s own real life equivalent to the Corny Collins Show called the Buddy Deane ... • 12. Archetypal Patterns In Little Miss Sunshine And As I Lay... Characters in stories follow archetypal patterns, whether it is something as simple as hero vs. villain, or something more elaborate like a scapegoat or a rake. In the movie Little Miss Sunshine we follow the Hoover family on their quest to fulfill self motivated goals, similar to that of the novel As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner. In the novel, Faulkner sets up the premise for one of the most widely accepted journey plots in literature, and the archetypal themes are carried over into the movie Little Miss Sunshine. There are many parallels between the novel and the movie, including the more contemporary ideas of a journey portrayed in Little Miss Sunshine. With a primary goal in mind, they must reach California in order for Olive to compete in the pageant similar to the goal set in mind of the Bundrens (Arndt). Using the model that As I Lay Dying puts for the journey archetype, Little Miss Sunshine follows a similar flow of journey, obstacle, and repeat. The first real obstacle that the Hoovers encounter is their car breaking down. Similar to the loss of the wagon that the Bundrens suffered at the river, their means of transportation is sabotaged. While the Hoover s solution was much simpler, just having to push [the car] up to ten, fifteen miles an hour to get the transmission into gear, the obstacle that was placed in front of them was still big enough to cause them a delay on their time sensitive quest (Arndt). The modern idea of poverty is also another big obstacle that the Hoovers must overcome. Coming from a lower class family, their car breaks down; they don t have any insurance, and are unable to take care of grandpa after he passes away. Having to resort to drastic measures, most of their decisions aren t thought through very carefully and are instead sporadic and on the spot. Being virtually broke, Richard has to juggle his personal and professional life, teaching twenty students in a classroom that could seat two hundred (Arndt). Life itself is a task to ... • 18. Pros And Cons Of The False Prophets This is not an occasional romp or moral lapse found among some ministers, Peter says that the false prophet is bent and cannot cease from sin (II Peter 2:14). This is the description of a reprobate. As false prophets seek to deceive the people of God, they themselves are deceived (II Timothy 3:13). The Spirit of the living God keeps us all. Upon the new birth, which is the resurrection of the human spirit, lies the DNA of God Himself. We have an element within us that cannot sin. Our task is to allow this element to have mastery over our soul and body. Sin failures that are committed during this process are covered by the Blood. The Holy Spirit is there to patiently wait for us to navigate our way into the holiness of God through not only a renewed mind, but a made up mind as well. Daily crucifying the flesh is the responsibility of every believer; but because the relationship with the divine keeping agent (the Holy Spirit) is non existent, the false prophet is sucked into the vortex of lust, from which there is no deliverance. Sometimes though, fear can infiltrate one s mind and block their ability to make rational decisions. In John Connolly s The Book of Lost Things , it is evident that fear plays a large role in how David, Beauty and Beast find love and how the King and wicked Queen in Snow white rule their kingdoms. Some overcome their fears while others allow it to consume them and cloud their judgement. If one succumbs to their fears it can deter them from finding love. In the novel, after David s mother dies, he has this constant fear that the memory of her will be lost if he accepts Rose as his stepmother therefore pushing her away and refusing to allow her into his life. • 24. Pros And Cons Of Drinking Water The Carlsbad desalination idea is not a practical way to get drinking water for the people of California. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find other ways to get water for the Californians? First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. Think about it this way: say that a county has 150 homes in it (which isn t even a close number, by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply that by 2,257. I asked the nurse, What made you think that this mode of oxygenation was acceptable for transfer when in report other oxygen delivery was being used? The question was not very well received and I was informed that the respiratory lead instructed her that this mode of transportation was acceptable. Co workers were saying that I grew into my ICU skin that night and had become a true ICU nurse. The humiliation that the emergency room nurse was now facing grew exponentially at that point and I felt terrible as well, not realizing that everyone had heard what had transpired because the unit was so quiet and the patient status had drawn so much attention. Interpersonal conflict had occurred originally and then escalated into intergroup conflict in a matter of moments. The conflict was quickly forgotten by me due to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
