Typography
• Is the use of text in an image.
• The term encompasses the Type face (font)
  layout and size.
• Sometimes typography is all you need to
  communicate your ideas effectively.
• Here are some examples....
Project Description:

1. Create a logo design (text
only or text & symbol) that
includes object(s) of symbolic
significance that represent
some aspect of who you are,
your life, your opinions, and/or
your medium (Graphic
Designer, Fashion Designer,
Photographer, Videographer,
etc.)
Neville Brody
Neville Brody is a well know graphic
designer who has created many of his
own typefaces within his work.
He also is widely know for designing ‘The
Face’ magazine and fetish record label.
His work inspired a whole generation of
graphic designers.
Image.
• Image in design is also important.
• Image is there to back up the text and add
  dimension to the work.
• Images can be literal or slightly
  subversive.

Task
• Your task is to produce a hand made
  piece of graphic design.
• You will create a logo design of symbolic
  significance that represent some aspect of
  who you are, your life, your opinions, and/or
  your medium. From this you will create a
  visual response.
• It must convey who you are and be
  Visually exciting.
Week 1
• Choose your words.
• You need to brainstorm 6 ideas for your
  piece. Three purely typographic three
  image based.
• Choose an appropriate typeface from the
  ones provided. ( if you wish to make your own you
  are welcome, use an existing one as a base)
• Trace through the text onto the tracing
  paper.
• THINK ABOUT COMPOSITION.
Home work
• Find some visual resources for yourself.
• Pictures, alternative typefaces, previous
  examples. Anything that will help you with
  your piece.
• You will need them for next weeks lesson.
Week 2-3
           Design & Print.
• We are using large scale printer to print our
  imagery.
• GOOD RESOLUTION NEEDED! 300 DPI
• Plan out how you are going to apply your
  images.
• (look back at your composition ideas)
