Dance has been a form of artistic expression since ancient times. It began as a way for humans to express emotions through movement, as seen even in the animal world. One of the earliest known places for dance to emerge was in Egypt around 2000 BC. Dance remains today both an artistic performance and a means of personal expression through motion.
