Leonardo da Vinci was an Italian polymath born in 1452 in Vinci, Tuscany. He apprenticed under the sculptor and painter Andrea del Verrocchio in Florence from 1466-1472, where he learned painting techniques like mixing colors and painting in oils. Some of his most famous works include The Last Supper, the Mona Lisa, and The Virgin of the Rocks. He lived in Milan from 1482-1499 where he painted The Last Supper and worked on many unfinished projects. Da Vinci later moved to France in 1516 where he died in Amboise in 1519.
