John Moralis was a Greek artist born in Arta in 1916 and died in Athens in 2009. He moved with his family from Preveza to Athens in 1927, where he became a headmaster before studying art. In 1936, he exhibited Greek engravings in Czechoslovakia. He married sculptor Aglaia Lymberakis in 1945, but they divorced in 1955. Moralis studied painting in Paris in the 1930s and 1940s before exhibiting with the Free Artists group in Piraeus in 1940, for which he received a bronze medal for works including Nude and Pregnant Woman. He often depicted his two ex-wives, Aglaia Lymberakis and Natalia Mela, in his artwork.
