Agile techniques that utilize iterative development are broadly used in various industry projects as a lightweight development technique which can satisfy the continuous changes of requirements. Traditional and old software development methods are not much efficient and effective to control the rapid change in requirements. Despite the benefits of Agile, criticism on agile methodology states that it couldn’t succeed to pay attention to architectural and design issues and therefore is bound to produce small design-decisions. The past decade has observed numerous changes in systems development with many organizations accepting agile techniques as a viable methodology for developing systems. An increase in the number of research studies reveals the growing demand and acceptance of agile methodologies. While most research has focused on acceptance rate and adaptation of agile practices, there is very limited knowledge of their post-adoption usage and incorporation within organizations. Several factors explain the effective usage of agile methodologies. own operations, to use the limited documentation, and to have the team in one place facility. The adoption
of agile practices of the test, any test of the first unit tests and automated, and low. Some can only appear
agile practices without the adoption of a conscious, because developers find them useful. So it seems that
an emergency operation aimed at agility may also neglect the important agile practices.

Over recent years, software teams and companies have made attempts to achieve higher productivity and efficiency and get more success in the competitive market by employing proper software methods and practices. Test-driven development (TDD) is one of these practices. The literature review shows that this practice can lead to the improvement of the software development process. Existing empirical studies on TDD report different conclusions about its effects on quality and productivity. The present study tried to briefly report the results from a comparative multiple-case study of two software development projects where the effect of TDD within an industrial environment. Method: We conducted an experiment in an industrial case with 18 professionals. We measured TDD effectiveness in terms of team productivity and code quality. We also measured mood metric and cyclomatic complexity to compare our results with the literature. We have found that the test cases written for a TDD task have higher defect detection ability than test cases written for an incremental NON-TDD development task. Additionally, discovering bugs and fixing them became easier. The results obtained showed the TDD developers develop software code with a higher quality rate, and it results in increasing team productivity than NON_TDD developers.

It is well known that software development projects tend to be based on over-optimistic cost estimates. Better
knowledge about software cost estimation is necessary to improve realism in software development project bids and budgets.
In my master thesis, I did a literature review that indicates that many research papers address software cost and effort
estimation, but none of the 150 papers I reviewed addressed the software test effort and/or cost estimation. We therefore
prepared a set of five research questions to address software test effort estimation, and conducted a case study and collected
empirical evidence from software development companies in Nepal. The minimum company size was 30 while the
maximum company size was 200. I performed the case study by conducting interviews with a set of structured
questionnaires. I compared the results obtained from the case study with the literature review and found that there exists
practice for empirical evidence based verification, validation, and testing cost/effort estimations. I also noted that test effort
estimation follow the same pattern as software development project estimates. My results show that 1) all the companies
prepare separate estimates for test effort, 2) empirical data is commonly used to estimate test effort, and 3) test effort
estimation error seems to be closely correlated with development effort estimation error. A company that had estimated total
of 3500 man-months had actually spent 4200 man-months implying 700 man-months of effort/cost overruns to complete the
project. Another company that projected testing effort of 100 man-hour actually ended up in 120 man-hour at the end of
project causing 20 man-hour effort/cost overruns. Therefore, our study indicates that test effort closely follows the
development patterns. However, more studies in this area are clearly needed.

Distributed Software Development Process, Initiatives and Key Factors: A Syst...zillesubhan
Geographically Distributed Software Development (GSD) process differs from Collocated Software Development (CSD) process in various technical aspects. It is empirically proven that renowned process improvement initiatives applicable to CSD are not very effective for GSD. The objective of this research is to review the existing literature (both academia and industrial) to identify initiatives and key factors which play key role in the improvement and maturity of a GSD process, to achieve this goal we planned a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following a standard protocol. Three highly respected sources are selected to search for the relevant literature which resulted in a large number of TOIs (Title of Interest). An inter-author custom protocol is outlined and followed to shortlist most relevant articles for review. The data is extracted from this set of finally selected articles. We have performed both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the extracted data to obtain the results. The concluded results identify several initiatives and key factors involved in GSD and answer each research question posed by the SLR.
INTRODUCING REFINED AGILE MODEL (RAM) IN THE CONTEXT OF BANGLADESH'S SOFTWARE...ijseajournal
The Software Companies of Bangladesh are using different types of agile models for software development. Although theoretically these models are worthy for small and medium projects, in practical case they are not so effective. In doing so, this paper tries to find out why do the agile models not suitable for Bangladesh’s Software Companies and how do the problems that the Software Companies face for using the models can be solved. To reveal the answers, this study is based on survey and interview methods. Findings of this paper show that Bangladesh's Software Companies are facing different problems for implementing traditional agile models, such as, Communicational gap, lack of Documentation, unavailability of Prototype, Customer’s lack of knowledge in the area of IT and many more. The study shows that if the Requirement Engineering Process is perfectly managed and some rules are modified in the traditional agile models, these problems can be solved. In doing so, a new model has been proposed by the study named Refined Agile Model (RAM) which is claimed to be better for Bangladesh rather than the traditional Agile Models. This model proposes a process flow which consists of Prototyping Cycle, Development Iteration Cycle and Additional Development Iteration Cycle. This new model also ensures a Requirement Engineer at Client End, sufficient documentation, preparation of prototype and presentation of frequent Demos. After ensuring these requirements in several real time projects, it was found that those projects were completed more effectively compared to all other old project experiences. Eventually, the paper concludes by mentioning that the Refined Agile Model (RAM) is the best model in the Bangladeshi software environment.
The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) has been applied in many fields and especially to complex
engineering problems and applications. The AHP is capable of structuring decision problems and finding
mathematically determined judgments built on knowledge and experience. This suggests that AHP should
prove useful in agile software development where complex decisions occur routinely. In this paper, the
AHP is used to rank the refactoring techniques based on the internal code quality attributes. XP
encourages applying the refactoring where the code smells bad. However, refactoring may consume more
time and efforts.So, to maximize the benefits of the refactoring in less time and effort, AHP has been
applied to achieve this purpose. It was found that ranking the refactoring techniques helped the XP team to
focus on the technique that improve the code and the XP development process in general.

continuously improving the quality of products and processes. The idea is that the
quality of products and processes is the responsibility of everyone who is involved
with the development and/or use of the products or services. TQM involves
management, workforce, suppliers, and even customers, in order to meet or exceed
customer expectations.
The performance of an algorithm can be improved using a parallel computing programming approach. In this study, the performance of bubble sort algorithm on various computer specifications has been applied. Experimental results have shown that parallel computing programming can save significant time performance by 61%-65% compared to serial computing programming.

This development approach has quickly caught the attention of a large number of software development firms. However, this approach particularly pays attention to development side of software development project while neglects critical aspects of requirements engineering process. In fact, there is no standard requirement engineering process in this approach and requirements engineering activities vary from situation to situation. As a result, there emerge a large number of problems which can lead the software development projects to failure. One of major drawbacks of agile approach is that it is suitable for small size projects with limited team size. Hence, it cannot be adopted for large size projects. We claim that this approach can be used for large size projects if traditional requirements engineering approach is combined with agile manifesto. In fact, the combination of traditional requirements engineering process and agile manifesto can also help resolve a large number of problems exist in agile development methodologies. As in software development the most important thing is to know the clear customer’s requirements and also through modeling (data modeling, functional modeling, behavior modeling). Using UML we are able to build efficient system starting from scratch towards the desired goal. Through UML we start from abstract model and develop the required system through going in details with different UML diagrams. 1 INTRODUCTION
Fast pace of science progress in solid state electronics led to incredible progress of computer devices that on its turn demanded software to control and manage the power of computer calculations and usage.
Software engineering emerged in the beginning of 20th century and by the end of it became separate state of art science, activity and the profession for millions. There are about 18.2 million software developers worldwide, a number that is due to rise to 26.4 million by 2019, a 45% increase, says Evans Data Corp. in its latest Global Developer Population and Demographic Study (P. Thibodeau, 2013). Along with growing number of software developers (software development firms, projects and people involved), increased the need for effective management of software development process. This demanded new approach and methodology from business researchers and managers. In the last several decades there was huge number of research, both in IT field and business management dedicated to this area.
Popularity of agile software development methods started about decade ago and at present these methods are employed by many big, medium size and small companies. Still growing attention to agile methods from software development specialists confirm these methods filled the lack of management techniques for software development that emerged and developed extremely fast along with speedy advancement of hardware in IT area. Great number of research done in areas such as changes in performance of software development using agile methods or scaling agile for large companies and teams. Also one of modern trends is an attempt to apply agile methodology for project management, marketing, sales and other activities. Goal of this article is to explore influence of application agile methods in software development to agility of whole company and business. The world of software engineering is constantly discovering new ways that lead to an increase in team performance in the production of software products and, at the same time, brings the customer's further satisfaction. With the advent of agile methodologies in software development, these objectives have been considered more seriously by software teams and companies. Due to their very nature, agile methodologies have the potential to be integrated with other methodologies or specific managerial approaches defined in line with agility objectives. One of the cases is Six Sigma, which is used in organizations by focusing on organizational change and process improvement. In the present study, attempts were made to present the hybrid software development approach, including Scrum, as the most common agile and Six Sigma methodology. This approach was practically used in a case study, and the obtained results were analyzed. The results of this evaluation showed that this hybrid method could lead to the increased team performance and customer satisfaction. However, besides these two achievements, an increase in the number of re-works, number of defects discovered, and the duration of the project implementation were also observed. These cases are in line with the main objectives of Scrum and Six Sigma and are justifiable and acceptable due to achieving those objectives.

Architecture of internet is vulnerable to the attacks like DDoS. Attacker primarily acquire his army of Zombies,
then that army will be instructed by the Attacker that when to start an attack and on whom the attack should be
done. In this paper, different techniques which are used to perform DDoS Attacks, Tools that were used to
perform Attacks and Countermeasures in order to detect the attackers and eliminate the Bandwidth Distributed
Denial of Service attacks (B-DDoS) are reviewed. DDoS Attacks were done by using various Flooding
techniques which are used in DDoS attack.
The main purpose of this paper is to design an architecture which can reduce the Bandwidth
Distributed Denial of service Attack and make the victim site or server available for the normal users by
eliminating the zombie machines. Our Primary focus of this paper is to dispute how normal machines are
turning into zombies (Bots), how attack is been initiated, DDoS attack procedure and how an organization can
save their server from being a DDoS victim. In order to present this we implemented a simulated environment
with Cisco switches, Routers, Firewall, some virtual machines and some Attack tools to display a real DDoS
attack. By using Time scheduling, Resource Limiting, System log, Access Control List and some Modular
policy Framework we stopped the attack and identified the Attacker (Bot) machines

electromechanical- systems (MEMS) audio transducers and ultra-low power-scalable analog-to-digital
converters (ADCs), which enable a very-low form factor, energy-efficient implementation for next-generation
DHA. The contribution of the design is the implementation of the dual channel MEMS microphones and powerscalable
ADC system.

-A composite beam is composed of a steel beam and a slab connected by means of shear connectors
like studs installed on the top flange of the steel beam to form a structure behaving monolithically. This study
analyzes the effects of the tensile behavior of the slab on the structural behavior of the shear connection like slip
stiffness and maximum shear force in composite beams subjected to hogging moment. The results show that the
shear studs located in the crack-concentration zones due to large hogging moments sustain significantly smaller
shear force and slip stiffness than the other zones. Moreover, the reduction of the slip stiffness in the shear
connection appears also to be closely related to the change in the tensile strain of rebar according to the increase
of the load. Further experimental and analytical studies shall be conducted considering variables such as the
reinforcement ratio and the arrangement of shear connectors to achieve efficient design of the shear connection
in composite beams subjected to hogging moment.

The Red Sea Hills Region is a vast span of rugged, harsh and inhospitable sector of the Earth with
inimical moon-like terrain, nevertheless since ancient times it is famed to be an abode of gold and was a major
source of wealth for the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt. The Pharaohs old workings have been periodically
rediscovered through time. Recent endeavours by the Geological Research Authority of Sudan led to the
discovery of a score of occurrences with gold and massive sulphide mineralizations. In the nineties of the
previous century the Geological Research Authority of Sudan (GRAS) in cooperation with BRGM utilized
satellite data of Landsat TM using spectral ratio technique to map possible mineralized zones in the Red Sea
Hills of Sudan. The outcome of the study mapped a gossan type gold mineralization. Band ratio technique was
applied to Arbaat area and a signature of alteration zone was detected. The alteration zones are commonly
associated with mineralization. The alteration zones are commonly associated with mineralization. A filed check
confirmed the existence of stock work of gold bearing quartz in the alteration zone. Another type of gold
mineralization that was discovered using remote sensing is the gold associated with metachert in the Atmur

problems happened associated with welding are common issues in these fields, especially corrosion.
Corrosion can be reduced with many methods, they are painting, controlling humidity, and also good
welding design. In the research, it can be found that reducing residual stress on the welding can be
solved in corrosion rate reduction problem.
Preheating on 500oC and 600oC give better condition to reduce corosion rate than condition after
preheating 400oC. For all welding groove type, material with 500oC and 600oC preheating after 14 days
corrosion test is 0,5%-0,69% lost. Material with 400oC preheating after 14 days corrosion test is 0,57%-0,76%
lost.
Welding groove also influence corrosion rate. X and V type welding groove give better condition to reduce
corrosion rate than use 1/2V and 1/2 X welding groove. After 14 days corrosion test, the samples with
X welding groove type is 0,5%-0,57% lost. The samples with V welding groove after 14 days corrosion test is
0,51%-0,59% lost. The samples with 1/2V and 1/2X welding groove after 14 days corrosion test is 0,58%-
0,71% lost.

This paper presents a component within the flexible ac-transmission system (FACTS) family, called
distributed power-flow controller (DPFC). The DPFC is derived from the unified power-flow controller (UPFC)
with an eliminated common dc link. The DPFC has the same control capabilities as the UPFC, which comprise
the adjustment of the line impedance, the transmission angle, and the bus voltage. The active power exchange
between the shunt and series converters, which is through the common dc link in the UPFC, is now through the
transmission lines at the third-harmonic frequency. DPFC multiple small-size single-phase converters which
reduces the cost of equipment, no voltage isolation between phases, increases redundancy and there by
reliability increases. The principle and analysis of the DPFC are presented in this paper and the corresponding
simulation results that are carried out on a scaled prototype are also shown.

energy available within the restorer. This device is connected in series with the distribution feeder at
medium voltage. A fuzzy logic control is used to produce the gate pulses for control circuit of DVR and the
circuit is simulated by using MATLAB/SIMULINK software.

for a Microbial flood and a comparative analysis is conducted for both waterflooding and microbial flooding.
Results shown from the analysis doesn’t only records a success in determining the radial distance of the leading
edge of water during the flooding process, but also gives a clearer understanding of the applicability of
microbes to enhance oil production through in-situ production of bio-products like bio surfactans, biogenic

- Gesture gaming is a method by which users having a laptop/pc/x-box play games using natural or
bodily gestures. This paper presents a way of playing free flash games on the internet using an ordinary webcam
with the help of open source technologies. Emphasis in human activity recognition is given on the pose
estimation and the consistency in the pose of the player. These are estimated with the help of an ordinary web
camera having different resolutions from VGA to 20mps. Our work involved giving a 10 second documentary to
the user on how to play a particular game using gestures and what are the various kinds of gestures that can be
performed in front of the system. The initial inputs of the RGB values for the gesture component is obtained by
instructing the user to place his component in a red box in about 10 seconds after the short documentary before
the game is finished. Later the system opens the concerned game on the internet on popular flash game sites like
miniclip, games arcade, GameStop etc and loads the game clicking at various places and brings the state to a
place where the user is to perform only gestures to start playing the game. At any point of time the user can call
off the game by hitting the esc key and the program will release all of the controls and return to the desktop. It
was noted that the results obtained using an ordinary webcam matched that of the Kinect and the users could
relive the gaming experience of the free flash games on the net. Therefore effective in game advertising could
also be achieved thus resulting in a disruptive growth to the advertising firms.

unknown characteristic of this converter it was used as a series resonant converter with basically a passive
(resistive) load. . Here, it was designed to operate in switching frequency higher than resonant frequency of the
series resonant tank of Lr and Cr converter acts very similar to Series Resonant Converter. The benefit of LLC
resonant converter is narrow switching frequency range with light load[6] . Basically, the control ckt plays a

resonant converter is narrow switching frequency range with light load[6] . Basically, the control ckt plays a
very imp. role and hence 555 Timer used here provides a perfect square wave as the control ckt provides no

chromosome likely contains 50 to 60 genes that provide instructions for making proteins. Because only males
have the Y chromosome, the genes on this chromosome tend to be involved in male sex determination and
development. Several Microsatellite Extractors exist and they fail to extract microsatellites on large data sets of
giga bytes and tera bytes in size. The proposed tool “MS-Extractor: An Innovative Approach to extract
Microsatellites on „Y‟ Chromosome” can extract both Perfect as well as Imperfect Microsatellites from large
data sets of human genome „Y‟. The proposed system uses string matching with sliding window approach to
locate Microsatellites and extracts them.

Study of Macro level Properties of SCC using GGBS and Lime stone powderIJERD Editor
One of the major environmental concerns is the disposal of the waste materials and utilization of
industrial by products. Lime stone quarries will produce millions of tons waste dust powder every year. Having
considerable high degree of fineness in comparision to cement this material may be utilized as a partial
replacement to cement. For this purpose an experiment is conducted to investigate the possibility of using lime
stone powder in the production of SCC with combined use GGBS and how it affects the fresh and mechanical
properties of SCC. First SCC is made by replacing cement with GGBS in percentages like 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and
by taking the optimum mix with GGBS lime stone powder is blended to mix in percentages like 5, 10, 15, 20 as
a partial replacement to cement. Test results shows that the SCC mix with combination of 30% GGBS and 15%
limestone powder gives maximum compressive strength and fresh properties are also in the limits prescribed by
the EFNARC.

Agile Methodology for Different Project Size

Abstract:- Extreme programming (XP) is one of the most widely used agile methodologies for
software development. It intends to improve software quality and responsiveness to changing customer
requirements. Despite the facts that the use of XP offers a number of benefits and it has been a widely
used agile methodology, XP does not offer the same benefits when it comes to medium and large
software projects. Some of the reasons for this are weak documentation, lack of strong architecture and
ignorance to risk awareness during the software development.
1. INTRODUCTION
Extreme Programming is one of several agile software development methods that have emerged in the
past few years. XP was first introduced in [9]. The method focuses on delivering immediate business value to
the customer. The XP process can be characterized by short development cycles, incremental planning,
evolutionary design, and its ability to response to changing business needs. The method itself is built around
what appears to be easy-to-understand set of practices, which have been fairly well documented in the literature
(see references for details). These practices are planning game, small releases, metaphor, simple design, testing
(test-driven development), refactoring, pair programming, collective ownership, continuous integration, 40-hour
work week (also known as sustainable pace) and on-site customer, just rules and open workspace. In addition,
spikes [10] is also often associated to the XP method’s practices. The XP method is designed to meet the needs
of a skilled small, i.e. less than 10 developers, team that is working in a co-located office together with the
customer developing software that is not safety-critical on an object-oriented technology [11]. This type of
situation is what can be called an ideal surrounding for the XP method or what Boehm [12] calls an agile home
ground.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
In [1] shows that most of the companies that employ XP as a development methodology for medium
and large projects face this problem, which echoes the importance of this problem. To address this problem, in
this study XP model is extended in such a way that it equally offers its benefits for medium- and large-scale
projects. As an evaluation of the extended XP, three independent industrial case studies are conducted. The case
studies are described and results are presented in the study. The results provide evidence that the extended XP
can be beneficial for medium and large software development projects. The extended XP model is validated
using three case studies. The results are concluded based on the postmortem analysis and number of defects
reported of the three case studies. The time (in hours) and effort (in %), spent per release to conduct postmortem
analysis of the three case studies.
In [2] an agile deployment framework is proposed. It is compatible with the ideology of continuous
improvement of organizational practices (QIP), while it also integrates it with the opportunities provided by
short iterations of agile process model. The suggested framework includes the procedures and methods needed
for selecting suitable new agile practices in an organization. It also embodies the means for iteratively tailoring
and validating the deployed practices within agile projects and gaining feedback rapidly from projects to the
organization. The paper presents the empirical experiences of a case study where the F-Secure Corporation
deployed a new agile software development process (Mobile-D) in a pilot project in order to utilize its
experiences in developing an organization specific agile process model alongside their traditional F-Secure
product realization process. In this paper, the mpirical results from a case study are presented in order to
illustrate how an agile development method (Mobile-D) was deployed in a pilot project in F-Secure
Corporation. The organizational goal was to utilize the experiences from the pilot project in establishing
organizational agile process. The pilot project applied a post-iteration workshop method [6] (i.e. PIWs) for
iterative adaptation and improvement of agile practices. Some more traditional mechanisms were also used for
collecting the experience based feedback from the project for the needs of the organization (i.e., project
postmortems).
In [3] Previously available studies have mostly focused on comparing XP(extreme Programming) with
some other Agile methodologies, rather than comparing it with traditional plan-driven software development
methodologies. In this Paper, we identify the XP phases and practices, how they ensure product quality, and

map XP phases against the Spiral model phases to prove that XP has built-in QA (Quality Assurance) practices
in its life cycle, in addition to its focus on productivity. A case study is also included to empirically investigate
quality of the product developed using XP with comparison to the product developed using Spiral Model.
As a summary we can say the primary purpose of this paper is two-fold. First, it identifies and describes the
built-in QA practices in both XP and Spiral Model. Secondly, it provides a case study to investigate the relation
of quality in both processes. Quality is chosen because this is one of the major issues for which XP is supposed
to answer properly.
As a result of this research, there are two main contributions of this research: it performs a detailed
study to show that QA practices are built into an XP process like they are addressed by Spiral model. It provides
empirical results related to Quality Assurance activities in XP. It can be concluded that an agile process like XP
addresses quality issues repeatedly and continuously as compared to a traditional plan-driven software
development method.
In this paper [4] They discuss their experiences in introducing agile practices in student software
development projects and reflect on both the benefits and drawbacks of agile processes in this setting.
the result shows that one of main conclusions were that the 12 inter-related practices of extreme Programming
have limited value for educating about large-scale system development, but selected practices of XP may be
helpful for educating about small scale development. For this work, they have, therefore, broadened their
perspective and observed the application of a number of agile practices in the context of student software
development projects in order to give recommendations on aspects to consider when introducing these practices
in an educational setting.
In this paper [5] they present the results of an empirical study, in which we examined the continued use
of an agile methodology in a later assimilation stage. Particularly, we investigated factors that foster or impede
the acceptance of agile methodologies in the long-term. Using the Diffusion of Innovations Theory as a lens for
analysis, we address the following research questions: which factors of agile methodologies are perceived as
benefits or drawbacks by developers? How does this influence the commitment of developers to agile
development?
The result of this research that is a little research has examined the use of agile methodologies beyond
the adoption stage. This is especially true for studies which examine the perceptions of developers in Scrum
projects. To close this literature gap, we presented results of a study in which we investigated how developers
perceive Scrum in the long term. Taking the Diffusion of Innovations Theory as a lens for analysis, we
identified several acceptance factors of Scrum and hypothesized about their perception by the developers. Using
qualitative field data, we evaluated our research hypotheses and provided explanations for the perceptions that
we observed in practice.
In this paper [6] clarify the effectiveness of agile methods, they reviewed the agile development
literature and conducted a systematic study of what we know empirically about its benefits and limitations.
their review clearly shows the need for more and better research to determine the situations in which practitioner
advice on agile development can be suitably applied. We urge companies to participate in research projects that
target goals relevant for the software industry.
In this paper [7] They’ve identified some barriers to integrating agile and traditional methods as
perceptual, not technical. However, they have also seen that many technical barriers do exist. they don’t believe
that these are insurmountable and are confident that organizations can overcome them with diligence, patience,
and work. Clearly, agile concepts will continue to migrate into traditional organizations (and vice versa) through
planned or clandestine vectors. Research is needed in several areas to provide new approaches and to harmonize
the methods. For example, the Systems and Software Consortium is finalizing a document called Disciplined
Agility, which describes an approach to implementing agile methods in high-maturity and process-compliant
environments Most importantly, though, is the need to capture metrics data and lessons learned from your
experiences. Data is critical to validate the integration activity’s value and the return on investment. Lessons
learned can support more rapid integration, eliminate the repetition of ineffective approaches and practices, and
disseminate experience across the organization and throughout the community.
In this paper [13] Waterfall and Extreme Programming are two software project methods used for project
management. Although there are a number of opinions comparing the two methods regarding how they should
be applied, none have used project data to clearly conclude which one is better .Authors present the results of a
controlled empirical study conducted at Carnegie Mellon University in Silicon Valley to learn about the
effective transition from traditional development to agile development. They conducted a comparison research
against these two approaches. Multiple teams were assigned a project; some used Waterfall development, others
used Extreme Programming. The purpose of this research is to look at advantages and disadvantages based upon
the outcomes, generated artifacts, and metrics produced by the teams.
we observed and presented the data from five years of 50 teams developing the same project each year and the
affects of transitioning from Waterfall to Extreme Programming. The characteristics between these two

methods were evaluated and compared. Waterfall teams spent more time creating high ceremony documents
where as Extreme Programming teams spent more time writing code and documenting their design in their code.
Surprisingly, the amount of code and features completed were roughly the same for both methods suggesting
that on a three month project with three to four developers it doesn't matter the method used.

There is a lot of question about agile methodology as tool to develop projects, especially when this
project is described as large project. So there is need to valid agile software development methodology (for
example extended extreme programming) is good method not only for small projects but also it can be good for
medium and large projects.

importance of quality for developing of projects.
