Role Summary
The present role involves working in a plethora of HR functions such as Payroll processing, Performance
Management, Organizational Development, Employee Relations, Training and Development ,
Employee Engagement, Recruitment and manpower planning. It also includes ensuring compliance
with various provisions related to the statute pertaining to Manufacturing sector.
It encompasses day to day Grievance redressal of employees in relation to any queries in salary and
payroll related issues, company policies and procedures, disciplinary actions and Performance
Management.
The role also comprises of managing the recruitment of mid level managers, workers and supervisory
staff.
Further, the role also involves preparation of MIS and reports, and maintenance of organizational
structure in SAP.
PMS
 Conducted annual appraisal for all the non executive employees for the year 2013-14.
 Coordinated with all the departments for expediting the process of performance appraisal.
 Normalization of the ratings using forced distribution method.
 Employee grade and salary fitment according to the final ratings obtained after normalization process.
 Calculated increments and promotional benefits based on the final ratings and company guidelines.
 Co ordinated Assessment and Development Centers for executive employees as a part of their promotion
process and developed Individual Development Plans as a result of the exercise.

Relations
 Designed and implemented policies and procedures related to employee engagement, such as
organizing events for employees in office as well as in township.
 Implemented “suggestion schemes” at Managerial as well as Worker level so as to welcome new ideas in
relation to process optimization/Improvement in both technical and non technical domain.
 Conducted exit interview for voluntary termination of employees, analyzed the various reasons for the exit
and prepared attrition analysis reports.
 Conducted inquiries, issued charge sheets and facilitated termination of employees as a result of
disciplinary action.

Development
 Conducted Training needs analysis for all the non executive employees and hence aligning the
departmental goals to the organizational goals for the year 2014-15.
 Induction, on boarding and orientation of the newly joined employees regarding the nature of work, the
department allocation and joining formalities.

Development
 Worked as the editor of the monthly HR magazine named Sampark highlighting the abstracts of “life at
JSPL”.
 Coordinator of the initiatives of identifying “GEM “of JSPL and “Employee of the month” for employees
who are exceptional performers for that month.
 Facilitated change management process during crisis situation in the plant such by counseling many Project
Affected and Project Displaced families.

 Sourcing of CVs of potential candidates through various Job portals.
 Managing the recruitment cycle for non executive cadre employees and mid level managers.
 Conducted and facilitated face to face interviews for potential candidates after successful screening through
telephonic interviews for mid level managers.
 Managed the recruitment of Junior Engineers/Diploma Engineers through written test and personal
interviews.
 Identified surplus manpower in various departments and redeployed them in other roles according to the

Vedanta Aluminium Limited
Project Title Preparation of Job descriptions of all the unique positions in the Alumina refinery at Vedanta, Lanjigarh
Highlights
 The project involved the preparation of Job descriptions for all the unique positions in the Alumina Refinery,
identification of any new positions and developing the job description for the same.
 It was a rigorous exercise where I had an induction of the entire core processes of the refinery and the
captive power plant. After the induction, I had to meet the departmental heads of all the 14 departments and
get the departmental structure.
 Then I identified the job holders in terms of the similarity of their jobs. For example all the power engineers
in the power plant had a similar role. So, one JD had to be prepared for them.
 Two –three rounds of discussions and interviewing was done for every position holder. Once the rough draft
of the JD was prepared, it was validated by the respective departmental heads. A total of 182 unique roles were
identified in the refinery which had 558 direct employees and the JDs were prepared for the same.

Management
 Developing and Managing the payroll system of the entire cadre of non executive employees. (approximately
1100 )
 Developed a holistic system for managing salary related grievances of all the non executive employees.
 Co-coordinating with Finance department for processing the salary of employees on time.
 Processing the monthly reimbursements of non executive employees and loans as per the company policies
SAP
 In depth knowledge of SAP-HR module especially Payroll and Organizational Management module.
 Salary reimbursements processing through SAP-HR module.
 Maintaining Organization Structure through SAP-Organizational Management module in relation to
reporting relationship, leave approval and inter departmental transfers.

Compliance
 Handling statutory compliance related to various labor laws such as Contract Labor (Regulation and
Abolition), Act-1970, and Factories Act-1948, Minimum wages Act, 1948, Payment of Wages Act, 1936.
 Recognized as one of the Labor Welfare officers for the factory by Govt. of Odisha.
 Handling Provident Fund of JSPL Employees with respect to withdrawals, transfers, coordination with
Regional PF office, and generation of Unique Account Number.
