Guided precision motion is most often thought of in the linear form which is used extensively in machinery and automation applications. Sometimes curved motion is better suited to an application. Examples might include moving a sensor or welding torch around the circumference of a pipe, or a complete 360-degree rotary table for indexing a complex assembly operation to variousangles.

Coupling is one kind of mechanical device which is used to connect two shafts together at their
ends for the purpose of transmitting power.
The primary purpose of couplings is to join two pieces of rotating equipment while permitting
some degree of misalignment or end movement or both.
A rigid coupling is a unit of hardware used to join two shafts within a motor or mechanical system.
It may be used to connect two separate systems, such as a motor and a generator, or to repair a
connection within a single system. A rigid coupling may also be added between shafts to reduce
shock and wear at the point where the shafts meet.
Flanged coupling is a type of rigid coupling in which two co-linear shafts are connected by the
flanges. The coupling enables torque transmission between the shafts & prevents relative rotation
between them.
In the project work a flanged coupling was made by local material available & the analysis of
various stresses & safety factor was also performed.
The outcome of analysis is there’s no danger of failure by pure shear, even if a fatigue strength
reduction factor is included, but this same section may have severe & undefinable bending stresses
on it if the flanges are imperfectly aligned, and they surely will be. The bolts bending was neglected
since they were too small compared to the result outcome.
Finally, the computed factor of safety of the flanges suggest that it would withstand repeated
bending if the misalignment is small.

When heavy loads need to be automated or supported by large capacity bearings there are few options for selecting standard products. Slewing ring bearings are often selected for heavy load applications and can be supplied in large diameters. However, the use of slewing bearings should be carefully scrutinized due to their high cost, long lead-times, difficult installation procedures, and frequent service maintenance. Heavy duty rings with vee guide wheels are a viable alternative to slewing bearings because in many cases they can meet the load capacity and life expectations in heavy load applications. Just like slewing rings, heavy duty vee rings can be rack and pinion driven on the inner or outer diameters and feature significant load capacities. However, additional features of vee guide technology provide improvements beyond the limitations of slewing bearings.

Brandwatch Masterclass: Using Brandwatch for Community ManagementBrandwatch
Over the past year, we’ve been conducting an experiment of our own that started with the question: ‘what if we brought together a bunch of our customers, to teach them tips and tricks for social listening and hear about their woes and concerns in person?’
This particular experiment has turned into quite the success as we just completed our fourth US Masterclass last month.
It wouldn’t be a Brandwatch event if we didn’t show how clients can make the most of their social media data. Our agenda for the day is usually a mix of query writing and data analysis sessions, advanced community management tips, along with client use cases highlighting how Brandwatch has helped them cut through the noise in social conversation.

How to solve your motion system design in less time with motorized actuator a...Design World
The design and development of automated processing equipment can be a daunting and time consuming task. At the outset of every automation project there is an understanding of the work to be performed. The designer will identify the items which can be purchased, and the items which must be designed and fabricated. Even a simple guided motion system project can spiral out of budget due to unforeseen complexity.
How to regain design freedom and source the perfect linear guide with Extrude...Design World
Linear guides are one of the most important components required for the development of automated or computer controlled equipment. 3D printers, CNC routers, and tabletop factories. Machines wouldn’t function without them. During the development phase, most design engineers will survey existing manufacturers for standard linear guide products to incorporate into their projects. Invariably, the designer will need to make compromises in their selection process and accept limited design freedom on purchased products. Perhaps the available guides are too large, require modifications, or have unstable supply quantities.
Extrusion based linear guides provide design freedom and can incorporate additional features to lower the overall complexity of a machine. They are supplied reliably in low quantities with the perfect design features. Extrusion designs can incorporate locations for attaching gear racks, linear tape encoders, cable carriers, or wire ducts and secondary machining such as threaded end holes allow for simplified assembly. Integrate many features into your perfect extruded profile guide.

How to create robust guided motion for any environmentDesign World
Guided motion is an important feature found in automated machinery and equipment. Motion system components can enable the movement of heavy loads, or allow for equipment to be designed for adjustability and allow for a variety of machine functions or operational tasks. Motion products are engineered for specific conditions such as load direction, load capacity, or chemical compatibility. They are typically designed to carry loads in controlled service conditions which are clean, free of debris and well lubricated. After several months of use, these ideal operating conditions are rarely a reality for production machinery.
MB Kit Systems utilizes extruded aluminum framing system to design and build mechanical solutions, including linear motion systems, machine safety guarding and specialty enclosures. Mechanical structures built with t-slotted aluminum profile offers a versatile, modular and cost-effective replacement to steel machine framing.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.
