Crop Allotted-Frenchbean
Group- II
Section-A
Debasish Pattnaik(1341901051)
Abhijeet Pradhan (1341901052)
Name of the crop--Frenchbean
Scientific Name—Phaseolus vulgaris
Family-Fabaceae
 Variety Grown-Anupam
 Duration of crop-55 days
 Allotted Plot No.-18
 On 15th DECEMBER 2015 the plot was allotted.
 First a plot of 4m.X 5m. Was laid out with the
help of rope, peg and measuring tape.
 Then the whole plot was ploughed with the help
of spade.
 Garden rake was used to level the field.
 Field is cleaned our field, removed the old
plant debris , levelled the plot.
• Before sowing of seeds, full of FYM, P & K
and half of N was applied on the lines.
• Dose: 60:60:40kg N P K/ha.
• For 20 sqr. m 120:120:80 gm NPK
• So required urea=158.54gm
 MOP=132.88gm
 DAP=260.86gm
• FYM APPLIED 4 BUCKETS
• FYM was treated with PSB
 Seeds are treated with Rhizobium -culture
Seed rate=40kg/ha
For 20 sq.m, seed rate=40000/10000*20=80gm
•Demarkation was done to find the positions of sowing with a
spacing of 60cm X 15cm
•The seeds were sown and covered to prepare a flat bed type.
•In line sowing the basal dose and FYM is incorporated and well
mixed.
Irrigation was done daily till the germination.
The first germination was seen on 21/12/2015
 After first phase of germination plant
population was 70%.
 So gap filling was done to ensure
100%(optimum) plant population.
 Bunds were raised
 Top dressing with remaining nitrogenous
fertiliser i.e., 80gms of urea.
 First flush of flowering was seen in 21/01/16
 Weeds are counted (in no) of area
(0.5X0.5)m2
 Echinocloa colona
 Botton grass(Borrheria hispida)
 Mimosa pudica
 Mosaic and mite attack was a problem.
 For its control milk and dicofol was sprayed
over the leaves @2ml/L
 Ant was a major problem durinG initial
period of germination.
 So gramixine was spread over the ant
colonies.
 50 grams of green chilli and 50 grams of garlic
were taken.
 Then they were grinded well.
 That pest was mixed with 1 lit. of water and left
for 12 hours.
 Then that water was strained well .
 The strained water was diluted by addition of
water and a pouch of shampoo and the volume
was adjusted to 5 liter.
 Pods are harvested at full grown stage but immature
and tender.
 Pods are ready for harvest 7-12 days after flowering
depending on varieties.
 In bush varieties, 2-3 harvests and in pole types 3-5
harvests are made.
 Quality of beans varies with harvests and best quality
fruits are obtained in initial harvests compared to
later harvests.
 Loss of crispness during storage and in last harvest is
attributed to loss of water and increase in water
soluble pectin.
 Seed weight is a major indicator of green bean
harvest maturity.
 Dry beans are harvested when majority of pods are
fully ripe and colour turns yellow
 First harvesting- 08/2/16(55DAS)
 Second harvesting-12/2/16(59DAS)

 INITIALLY IN OUR PLOT WE HAD A PROBLEM
OF A BIG MOUSE HOLE BT IT WAS WELL
MANGED BY APPLYING STRAW IN IT.
 AFTER FRENCHBEAN IN OUR PLOT WE HAVE
OKRA GROWING
 OVERALL GROWTH OF TH CROP IS GOOD AND
WE GAIN EXPERIENCE ON CULTIVATION
PRACTICES OF FRENCHBEAN.
