Critique Appraisal of Research Paper
This paper is a research critique of the article titled, " Effect of distraction on children's pain during
intravenous catheter ." Sadeghi, Mohammadi, Shamshiri, Bagherzadeh & Hossinkhani (2013)
conducted the study using a soft ball for the children to press during intravenous catheter insertion.
This paper will critique the design, sample and setting, ethical considerations, data collection and
analysis, and the results with recommendations of the researchers.
Research Design The authors conducted a quasi–experimental design to conduct the research, which
is a type of quantitative research. A quasi–experimental design uses comparisons to determine the
effects of one variable on another variable (Grove, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers used a coin to select the sample for the two groups of the study, a demographic
questionnaire to collect data, a Wong–Baker FACES Pain Rating Scale to assess the children pain
level before and after the procedure, and an elastic soft ball. The study clearly described the tools,
provided a detailed explanation of the Wong–Baker FACES and how it was used during the
procedures, which proved the validity and reliability of the instruments used in the study. Validity is
defined as a determination of how well the instrument reflects the concept being examined, and
reliability is demonstrated when consistent results are produced using the same instruments (Grove
et al., 2015). Lastly, to evaluate the data of the results the authors used SPSS program which
evaluate the frequency, mean, percent and standard deviation, they used the chi–square test to
evaluate the homogeneity of the two groups, the kolmogorov–smirnov test to assess the normality of
the data, and the independent t–test to compare children's pain in the intervention and control

3. Critique Of Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant was born on April 22, 1724 in Königsberg, Prussia where he stayed all of his life
(which is now Kaliningrad, Russia). Immanuel Kant was one of the most influential philosophers in
the history of Western Philosophy. His contributions to metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, and
aesthetics have brought an impact on most philosophical movement that followed him.
He was the fourth oldest of 9 children in a family of artisans. He was originally named "Emmanuel"
but, after learning Hebrew he changed his name to "Immanuel". In his youth, Kant was a solid,
unspectacular student. The family belonged to the Protestant sect of the Pietists, and Kant went to a
Pietist school. The emphasis on reason in Kant's philosophy is sometimes interpreted as a reaction
against his religious education.
Kant was only 5 feet tall, and very thin when reached old age which he attributed to his strict daily
routine. He got up at 5 o'clock every day and spent the next hour drinking tea, smoking his pipe and
meditating. From 6 to 7 o'clock, he prepared for lectures he gave at home until 9 o'clock. He then
worked in his study room until 1 o'clock and spent the next three hours dining, usually with his
friends. After his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

theoretical and practical reason and the relation between them. The critical philosophy was soon

assessed depending on the physiological fitness, nutrition status, social and spiritual health, lifestyle

promotion strategy and improved client outcomes. "High Blood Pressure Health Risk Calculator"
tools developed by AHA and ASA successfully addresses the physiological aspect of the client
health by considering height, weight, blood pressure, and by recommending regular physical activity
as well as other lifestyle changes related to physical health. The tool also addresses the nutritional
aspect of the client health by recommending the intake of

7. Essay On Critique Of Pure Reason By Immanuel Kant
Immanuel Kant's Critique of pure reason aims to question and evaluate what is ultimately real, and
to discover the restrictions and scope of pure reason. The main doctrine within the critique being the
idea of transcendental idealism, concerning epistemology. Kant's doctrine aims to show that humans
can only construct knowledge from their senses. This opposed the previous views of Rene Descartes
idealism and George Berkley's complete denial of the existence of matter. Universal concepts which
Kant regards as categories then filter the sense impressions we receive. Kant's idea of the noumenal
plays a key role when understanding the notions within the Critique and is ultimately a very helpful
way of helping us understand why we think the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, what colour is the noumenal realm? If it has a colour and is red for example, we are
applying human concepts like colour. If has no colour, we are still applying human concepts of it
having no colour or "not being red". Thus, one of them must involve itself in the noumenal realm, as
a third description between colour and not having colour is impossible. It either has a colour or does
not. In my opinion, Kant can overcome this weakness within the argument for noumena by using the
distinction between positive and negative predicates. Kant could hold that the noumenal realm can
only have negative predicates and as such human ascriptions become less

11. Critique And Critique Of Kantian Ethics

Examination of Kantian Ethics
"There is no possibility of thinking of anything at all in this world, or even out of it, which can be
regarded as good without qualifications, except a good will." (Kant, pg.7 393). No other thing that
may appear good can be unqualifiedly good, as even "Talents of the mind...Gifts of power...[Other]
qualities...Have no intrinsic unconditional worth, but they always presuppose, rather, a good will,
which restricts the high esteem in which they are otherwise rightly held." (Kant, pg.7 393–394). So
Immanuel Kant introduces the public to his Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals, which results
not in simply a grounding work, but one that is utterly groundbreaking. This opener, wholly devoted
to the establishment of the importance of will and intention, notes the guiding characteristics of a
good will. As enumerated previously, Kant recognizes the plausible potential positivity of plenty
concepts, but remains of the mind that none of these are good in themselves without the efforts of a
good will to guide and restrict them in a manner that perpetuates their positivity.
He persuasively unveils imperatives both universal and hypothetical, the elements of unconventional
practical reason, and examples of extreme controversy that force people to consider situations from
a previously unconsidered moral perspective; however, Kant's initial moral work is not without its
critique: ranging from

13. Institutional Critique Essay
When someone enters an art gallery, they believe they are going to view art, but under the guise of
Institutional Critique, this notion often false. Instead of being the traditional art of painting,
sculptures, and installations, viewers encounter, in the work of Hans Haacke, Daniel Buren, and
Michael Asher in the 1970s, not much to look at, but a lot to think about. In essence, Institutional
Critique is a protest against museums/galleries demanding them to view art and art exhibition in
new ways, exemplified by Conceptual art where words, video, readymades, and even ideas are art.
Institutional Critique manifested from the protests of the 1960s, one of which philosopher Michel
Foucault participated in Paris, 1968. Clearly, Institutional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In 1971, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum was to present a solo show of Haacke's work, which
was to include the controversial piece, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Board of Trustees (1974),
but the museum director cancelled the exhibition. This was partially due to Haacke's refusal to omit
the work from the show, but mostly because of the piece's subject matter. This piece consists of two
framed panels with lists of the museum's board of trustees, which would be acceptable to showcase
because this knowledge would be readily available, but Haacke added five more panels listing the
corporate sponsors of the museum along with each member's other affiliations with corporations.
This work exposed the inner mechanisms of the institution by revealing the trustees' questionable
affiliations and the financial backers of the museum. In addition, this piece exemplifies Institutional
Critique precisely because of its focus on the museum itself over the artwork. After all, this piece
cannot be sold at auction, which is an essential aspect of galleries and museums. The piece is, to an
extent, also site–specific in that the trust essence of the piece could only be felt if it was exhibited in
the institution it was criticizing, although Haacke never exhibited it at the Guggenheim. In fact, the
piece was not shown until Documenta X in 1997, but by that point, it had lost its critical value. Not

choices is the responsibility of a school nurse and consequently that of the entire population of the

chronic diseases present and nursing procedures administered in school) could be a question.
Hypothesis/Hypotheses Since the steady increase of students with chronic illnesses in public
schools, there has been an increase in the roles and responsibilities of school nurses (Krause–Parello
& Kimika, 2010). This study looks to build upon other studies, but as well, it does look to
prove this.
Study Variables The independent variables in this study are the nurses. With the study design being
non–experimental, however, no manipulation takes place. The research is only being replicated
exactly as it was and so we would not expect to see any dependent study variables (Burns &
Grove, 2011).
Conceptual Model/Theoretical Framework Betty Neuman's conceptual model of nursing is
concerned with the person as a whole and stresses prevention. She brought us primary, secondary,
and tertiary prevention (Nursing Theories, 2011). It is noted through the study of the "health
promotion/disease prevention activities" that the schools of New Jersey are required to have a
wellness plan and that the nurses agree to the importance of prevention of disease by early health
screening (Krause–Parello & Kimika, 2010).
Review of Related Literature Through the literature review, it became apparent that over the past
few years the roles and responsibilities of nurses has increased even further; this study sought to
bring that research current and encourage school nurses

people on these boards have good–hearted motives in writing a phrase they believe will drive honors
students to have an unstoppable drive to produce a positive change in the world. Aspiring to be a
phrase vague enough to make students want to find the solution for climate change, cure cancer, and

were donors, or maybe that's just what the board found the most uplifting, but if the organization is
expecting to create critically minded students like the Honor's College tries to pride itself in doing;
the motto needs to convey that. It not only needs to reflect and satisfy what the donors and board are
trying to do but also accomplish the goals of the University's Honors College as well, so that money
continues to flow into programs like the Honors College, but the programs can also carry out their

The traits I have obtained from dance can best be explained through the lessons I have experienced.
The most valuable lesson is that critiques can either damage or improve someone; the amount of
change the critique makes is for the receiver to choose. Dancing teaches that I will always be
making mistakes, but a positive mindset is key. To grow as a dancer, I must respectfully listen to the
critiques and make a valid effort to improve, not only for myself, but also for the team. Dancing has
shaped me into a confident, determined person that will be able to apply lessons learned throughout
my life.
Teamwork is the most important trait when having a team that wants to excel at their sport, and I
believe at Chilton, we go beyond the expectations. To work as a team, you must have a certain bond
with each teammate to feel comfortable enough to correct them if something they are doing is
incorrect. Something I really stress to the freshman on the team is that they should feel comfortable
to telling me what I am doing wrong, even if I am a senior. To help the team, everyone must take
part and be a leader in their own ways, whether it be teaching a girl choreography she missed or

23. Critique Of Agora Critique
Agora Critique The 2009 feature film, Agora, which was directed by Alejandro Amenábar, depicts
the religious, political, and intellectual events in the city of Alexandria during the life of Hypatia, a
female philosopher. Since this film's primary goal is the entertainment of the audience rather than
accurate historical instruction, there are some fictitious or unproven details in the film that give an
erroneous impression of history to the common viewer. The movie gives a fair representation of the
turmoil within both pagan and Christian groups, but there is a slight bias towards the antagonization
of Christians. One way this prejudice takes shape is the film's failure to fairly represent the role of
St. Cyril of Alexandria amidst these chaotic times as it relates to his views on women in education,
his involvement in the death of Hypatia, and the expulsion of the Jews.
One aspect in which St. Cyril was wrongfully depicted was his attitude toward the role of women,
especially regarding their position in the world of academia. In the movie, Cyril reads a passage
from I Timothy which states that women should be submissive to men. He then attempts to pressure
Orestes into publicly condemning Hypatia for her involvement in political and intellectual affairs.
Women were thought to be inferior to men back then, and some Christians during this time period
did denounce intellectualism, believing that only God's Word was necessary. St. Cyril, however, did
not appear to share

25. Kant's Philosophy on the Metaphysical World Explained in...
In the Critique of Pure Reason, philosopher Immanuel Kant aims to thoroughly explain his
philosophy of the metaphysical world. Within the Transcendental Aesthetic, Kant focuses on
confirming that space and time are a priori intuitions. He provides reasoning and arguments as to
why they are transcendentally ideal but empirically real, making space and time subjectively
necessary for experiences. Simultaneously, Kant distinguishes space and time from secondary
qualities, which belong to our senses through experience, by confirming that unlike space and time,
secondary qualities are not empirically real. Kant does run into conflicts with his theory, he still
successfully claims that space and time are transcendentally ideal but empirically real, as well as
distinguish them from secondary qualities by supporting his theories with reasoning. Kant's theory
of transcendental idealism states that human beings only experience appearances and not things in
themselves (Rohlf). Space and time are transcendentally ideal because they allow us to perceive
things in themselves. This means that space and time are only forms in which properties of objects
appear and not properties of things in themselves. Therefore, space and time are not self–subsistent
and nor are they substances that have properties. Kant draws two conclusions for space and three
conclusions for time. In conclusion (a), Kant states that space and time do not have properties of
things in themselves (A26/B42). He also

aims in the groundwork are not primarily to illustrate how to apply his formulas to particular
problems, but to the basic presuppositions of practical reason, or to transform his research weight
from first critique to second critique. Since the question on emptiness charge must be taken on more
practical responses, it seems to me Kant has undoubtedly realized this and attempted to mingle the
theoretical and practical issues in Groundwork. For example in order to disentangle practical and
transcendental freedom, Kant introduces another doctrine in the third section of Groundwork. This
doctrine is essentially the same as one finds in the First Critique: ... Show more content on

The article's abstract section did clearly identify the purpose of the research and the article. The
author did specify within the abstract, that they investigated the perception and motivation of
forgiveness. The first sentence also plainly stated the purpose of the article, "This cross–sectional

adults from the Flanders region in Belgium." (Orathinkal et al., 2008). The participants were
classified into two groups, but this was not identified within the Abstract. The abstract was
satisfactory in its criteria however there were criteria that were not met in a satisfactory manner. I
would suggest a less than satisfactory rating because some key elements were left out. The
researchers of this article stated the research methodology that would be utilized, "In the second

Defining Kant's Critique of Pure Reason and its Relation to the Science of Metaphysics
The understanding itself, in regard to representations and objects, is the paramount focus of
Immanuel Kant's (1724–1804), Critique of Pure Reason (1781/1787). Although there is a manifold
of philosophical definitions of what the critique of pure reason is defined as, this essay will assist in
alleviating the flux that occurs when comprehending the meaning of Kant's, Critique of Pure
Reason. After reading most of Kant's critique, in relation to Metaphysics, the critique of pure reason
is a way of making that branch of philosophy a true possibility, then an actual science. An argument
can be made that one definition formulates a foundation for ... Show more content on

In order to fully comprehend what a court of justice is, the concept of "indifferentism," must be
clearly defined. Kant states that indifferentism is, "the mother of chaos and night in the sciences, but
at the same time, also the origin, or at least the prelude, of their incipient transformations and
enlightenment, when through ill–applies effort they have become obscure, confused, and useless" (A
x). Indifference is harming to metaphysics because it allows people to ignore what they naturally
compelled to answer about representations, objects, and results. In summary, Kant's critique of pure
reason is a court of justice, which gives humanity the ability to determine and separate the invalid
flaws and falsities that are holding is an endless fate, from the valid right rules and principles that
help us answer metaphysical inquisitions. After Kant defines the court of justice, he then introduces
a new term that helps define a critique of pure reason, a critique of the faculty of reason.
Kant offers another important definition in regard to a critique of pure reason in which he uses the
term "a critique of the faculty of reason," which will be fully defined in order to comprehend the

For my piano critique, I went to see Sean Cavanaugh with accompaniment of Dominic Muzzi, play
Ludwig van Beethoven's Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15. This recital was performed on campus,
in Recital Hall November 6, 2017 at 8:30pm. Both Cavanaugh and Muzzi performed their portion of
the piece on the piano.
Cavanaugh was the lead pianist, so he had the piano closer to the audience while Muzzi was farther
back. Something that I found interesting, was that Muzzi was dressed in all dark colors, while
Cavanaugh wore a white collared shirt. This choice in outfit definitely drew the audience's attention
to Cavanaugh as the lead pianist, while helping Muzzi blend into the background. This denotation of
Cavanaugh as the lead was continued in the bows, where Cavanaugh would always stand partially in
front of Muzzi.
Both pianist performed very well together. I noticed that they would give each other nonverbal cues
like nods or glances to indicate when they were finishing their part or when the other should
respond. This communication served really well, as both pianists complimented each other and
timed their playing near perfectly.
Cavanaugh was very animated while playing. His head would bob with the music and during the
dramatic low notes of the music, sometimes he would play those with his whole body, coming up
slightly off the chair to add to the force of the sound. Muzzi would also bob his head along to the
music, but not nearly as energetically as Cavanaugh did.

41. Kant : The Father Of Enlightenment
Stanford Marquis
Essay 2
Kant: The Father of Enlightenment
The 18th Century is referred to as the Age of Reason or Enlightenment as it was during this period
that reason and individualism was advocated as a means of power. Science and reason were
revolutionizing society by challenging the facts deeply rooted in tradition. This new rational way of
thinking used logic to arrive at conclusions. Immanuel Kant, a German philosopher, was one of the
primary figures of this era that cultivated reason and whose works have revolutionized modern
philosophy to this day and age.
The term 'Enlightenment' is used to describe this period because of Immanuel Kant's essay,"
Answering the Question: What is Enlightenment?" Kant states that," Enlightenment is the human
being's emergence from his self incurred minority" (Kant). In other words, it is one's way of
surfacing by using one's own mind. He believed that people's laziness was to blame for them being
left in the dark. It is easy to pay someone to think for them than to use their own minds. In order to
be enlightened, he states that people must free themselves of their easy way of life and take control
of their own individual reasoning. He also mentions that hindrances to a person's enlightenment
were far beyond their personal barriers. The laws of society and religion played a massive part in

Critique of ¨What Makes a Degas a Degas?¨ The paintings in the story of ¨What makes a degas a
degas?¨ there are many different pieces of evidence to support the central claim that the artist
wanted the people looking at the paintings to feel like they were right there of what was happening
in the picture. The paintings were quickly painted, had choppy figures, with short strokes, but the
figures still stuck out. The artist also wanted it to seem as if it was spontaneous. The artist used
colors to portray different objects in real life. For example, the black was used to look like charcoal
and looked like it. The author also made his paintings look quickly painted. This gives the paintings
a very unique feel and sometimes even realistic.

45. Schopenhauer's Criticism of Kant's Analysis of Object Essay
Schopenhauer's Criticism of Kant's Analysis of Object
Schopenhauer makes it clear that he is indebted to Kant for his vision of transcendental idealism,
and that his Critique of Pure Reason [2] is a work of genius. However, Schopenhauer argued that
Kant made many mistakes when formulating his philosophy, and he set about the task of uncovering
them in his Criticism of the Kantian Philosophy, an appendix to be found in The World as Will and
Representation [1]. In this essay I wish to analyse the criticism made against Kant's determination of
an object, since this is an important factor if we are to comprehend how we understand reality.
Kant's Critique of Pure Reason [2] is notoriously difficult to read and often unclear. Possibly, ...

Only with the concept of the chair does the chair become known. Concepts are essential if we are to
perceive the world: "in no other way can an object be given to us" [2; B33]. Thus, for Kant, intuition
and thought complement one another: "thoughts without content are empty, intuitions without
concepts are blind" [2; B75].
The scope of the concept of object goes further than the example I have given immediately suggests:
it does not just deal with an object that I perceive at one particular time, but can deal with the object
at different times, and at different positions in space. Thus, to take the example of the particular
chair I am looking at, the same concept of the chair synthesizes my immediate intuition, along with
the chair as it was yesterday when, I recall, it was in another room, and also with any expectation I
have of the chair tomorrow. The concept is able to synthesize all of these manifold phenomena
across time and space. It picks out those features that make it the same chair; for example, that it is a
particular shape and colour, and that it has a particular scratch mark on one of its legs.
Bringing Thinking into Perception
Schopenhauer's first criticism of Kant is that he "brings thinking into perception" [1; p.439]. As we
have seen, for Kant, an object is not perceived meaningfully for what it is, until it is thought. Yet,
this seems odd, because it seems to me that I do not have

47. An Analysis of Solipsism in Kant’s Critique of Pure...
An Analysis of Solipsism in Kant's Critique of Pure Reason
My goal is to examine solipsism and discover how Immanuel Kant's Transcendental Idealism could
be subject to a charge of being solipsistic. Following this, I will briefly review the destructive
impact this charge would have on certain of Kant's positions. After the case for solipsism is made, I
intend to describe a possible line of rebuttal from Kant's perspective that could be made to the
charge.
The issue of solipsism is intriguing in that it seems to be universally rejected as a basis of
metaphysics. Yet, the modern tradition has had difficulty supporting this rejection. Antony Flew
defines solipsism as, "The theory that I am the sole existent. To be a solipsist I ... Show more content

Thereafter, the modern tradition was challenged to prove the existence of an external world and the
existence of other minds. "Once we concede...that the immediate objects of sense experience are
mind–dependent (ideas, impressions, sense data, etc.), it is indeed questionable whether we can
argue validly to the existence or nature of a mind–independent external world." (Flew: 330)
Within the Critique of Pure Reason, Kant affirms that our capacity to perceive objects in the external
world is dependent upon the subject's imposition of certain conditions of the possibility of
experience. Time, space and the categories are among these. Thus, human beings are capable of
viewing only the appearance and not things as they are in themselves.
Now a thing in itself cannot be known through mere relations; and we may therefore conclude that
since outer sense gives us nothing but mere relations, this sense can contain in its representation
only the relation of an object to the subject, and not the inner properties of the object in itself. This
also holds true of inner sense, not only because the representations of the outer senses constitute the
proper material with which we occupy our mind, but because the time in which we set these
representations, which is itself antecedent to the consciousness of them in experience, and which
underlies them as the formal condition of the mode in which we posit them in the

49. Example Of Visual Art Critique
Visual Art Critique
For my visual art critique, I attend the Texas State University Wittliff Collections on Tuesday,
October tenth. During my visit I viewed works of art from the Lonesome Dove collection. The first
piece of work I critiques was the photograph "Crossing the Rio Grande" taken by Bill Wittliff. This
photo was taken on the set of the Lonesome Dove in 1988. What stood out to me was the
significance of how real this photo is. So many slaves have tried to cross this river to escape
persecution and slavery. Although, in this instance the photo is depicting three cowboys or horseman
crossing the Rio Grande River in pursuit of cattle driving thousands of cattle from Texas up north to
Montana. Although this photo is quite iconic in relation to this history of Texas I do not believe this
piece of work along with many others from this exhibit should be deemed canonical. I personally
rate this piece of work a four and a half, out of ten simply because while it is a great piece of art; it
is the type of work I would like to hang in my bathroom above my toilet so while I am urinating I
can view a nice "manly" piece of art.
The second piece I critiqued was also a photo from the set of "Lonesome Dove". The second piece
of art was titled "Gus on Porch," and was also taken by Bill Wittliff. This piece of work was very
interesting to me because although I am not from Texas, I believe that this photo depicts how many
outsiders of Texas, view the states past. This photo features

51. Critique Of Just Mercy Critique
Gurvir Bhullar Ms. Paulsen English 1109–34 4 Nov 2017 Just Mercy Introduction Critique There
are always two sides to an argument, but different people have different opinions on which side is
right and wrong; as a result, we can compare a debate or argument as of a coin, due to the fact that it
has two sides. When it comes to the topic of judicial system in America, most of us will readily
agree that it needs to be reformed. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question
of who will step forward and make changes to the court system. Whereas some are convinced that
no one is going to do anything about it, others maintain that the government will be the savior by
making the changes. In the introduction of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice And Redemption, by
Bryan Stevenson –an American lawyer, social justice activist, founder and executive director of the
Equal Justice Initiative, and a clinical professor at New York University School of Law– Stevenson
emphasizes that people are not being treated fairly in the judicial system of America. The book was
written to give readers a close up look on mass incarceration and extreme punishment given in
America. Convincing the readers is not easy, except if the author uses strategic techniques such as
ethos, pathos, and logos. It is even more tough if the topic is sensitive and debatable as this one.
Stevenson used these three techniques in a variety of different ways to convince the readers. The

Cameron, Nairn and Higgins (2009), the art of critiquing documents provides insight into another
individuals thought process which broadens development (page 45, para. 2). From a personal
standpoint, receiving a critique has the ability to incite insecurity and negative emotions from
students; therefore, the ability to grow from ones mistakes. The objective of providing feedback on a

55. Critique Of Rendition
Current Topic Critique II Rendition is a legal tool used by the U.S Government to transfer captured
individuals from one country to another without going through formal extradition procedures
(Rosenbach and Peritz, 2010). This process can be described as the governments terrorist catching
tool, and like most government tools has been the subject of controversy regarding civil liberties.
Catching Mir Aimal Kasi is described by Rosenbach and Peritz (2010) as the poster child for the
good that properly using rendition can do, while Jane Mayer (2008) shows what happens when it is
used with no accountability when she shares the story of Maher Arar. Extraordinary rendition is an
even more streamlined version of rendition, it is rendition that does not require consent from the
other nation involved. The use of rendition is among the most controversial pieces of U.S policy on
the global stage. Legal Rendition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The textbook example of this is the capture and rendition of Mir Aimal Kasi, who gunned down two
CIA employees outside the CIA headquarters building in 1993. Mir Aimal Kasi managed to flee the
scene and escape to Pakistan, where he would hide for several years (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2010).
Four years later a joint CIA and Pakistani operation would capture him and use the rendition process
to hastily get him back to the U.S to stand trial (Rosenbach and Peritz, 2010). When both
governments are afraid of keeping the detainee in the country where captured due to anti–American
sentiments in the local population or various other reasons, the rendition process is used to quickly
and quietly move them to the U.S. By using rendition, instead of extradition, the host country can
avoid any potential political backlash by speeding up the process and not keeping the detainee any
longer than they

performed. Attach the program to your critique, and then refer to the titles in the program. For
example: "Autumn Leaves" was performed by a small instrumental ensemble (guitar, bass, and
percussion). It is a standard contemporary tune. The tempo was a moderately slow ballad. It had a
very mellow sound... 4. Tell how well you think the performers interpreted the music that was on the
concert. Were the singers in tune? Did the piano player play musically and rhythmically? Do you
think the performers communicated the music as it was meant to be communicated by the
composer? 5. Tell which pieces or part of the concert was most moving or enjoyable for you. If you
didn't enjoy the concert very much, tell why you didn't enjoy it. What could have been better? Be as
specific as you can when expressing your opinion of the performance – don't just write generalities
like "It was nice" or "it made me feel like dancing". Tell why the music made you feel like dancing.
Write about why you particularly enjoyed that part of the concert. 6. Conclude your critique by

adopted into a wealthy family. Young Desiree soon grows up and falls in love with a slave owner,

African descent characteristics. Chopin narrates the issues of oppression and loss of identity during

Foster and LeJeune's critique discloses the idea that Desiree's flee into the bayou is her first act of
independence since she had been with Armand. "Chopin presents Desiree–as a character– illustrated
how the human spirit often suffers from powerlessness." (Short Story Criticism, vol.171 Foster and
LeJeune,pg 155) From the time that Desiree and Armand tied the knot, she was no longer her own
person, but solely Armands property. "Armand never calls Desiree by name; thus , he never affords
her a title." (Short Story Criticism, vol.171 Foster and LeJeune,pg 155) This emphasizes the
Desiree's identity becomes lost within the male's identity even moreso once Desiree bares Armand's
child which shows African American characteristics. The idea of Armand's child not being purely
white, altered Armand's character towards Desiree which left Desiree with no choice other than to
leave his side with her child. "As Chopin narrates: She [Desiree] disappeared among the reeds and
willows that grew thick along the banks of the deep, sluggish bayou: and she did not come back
again." ( Short Story Criticism, vol.171 Foster and LeJeune,pg 157) Foster and LeJeune stated "It is
by fleeing that she avoids such loss when she escapes to the "reeds and willows"." ( Short Story

In Shakespeare's Hamlet, the complexities that come with actions and the psychological weight of
the pillar of human uncertainty are brought to light. This parallels both the thoughts and reflections
shown in a critique of the play by Harold Goddard and a radio program depicting a prisons
production of Hamlet, The American life: Act V. The critique by Goddard, simply dissects and
divulges the connections Goddard believes to be crucial to gain a deeper understanding of Hamlet.
Act V, does not simply speak on the text, rather it is a piece that follows a high security prison's
production of Hamlet's fifth act. The program mostly focuses on the inmates and how the production
both gives them purpose in their life and how the play emotionally touches them. These prisoners
find themselves relating to one of the main themes in Shakespeare's play, regret, on a level that was
almost inconceivable to them before their involvement in the production. Due to these prisoners
being incarcerated, every single day they are reminded of the things they did wrong and are limited
freedoms because of it. However, the production does not alleviate this pain or make them feel
better about themselves, but rather the opposite. Hamlet is dark in nature, and often propounds the
idea of yearning for the past and the vast complexity of choices. Most of these prisoners are now
equipped with one of the wisest realizations one could make; nothing is certain, all choices have

Kant's subjective A deduction is not a "deduction" in the traditional philosophical sense. Rather, it is
a "justification" in the sense of the language of legal practice. (1) What Kant wants to justify is that
the categories are the necessary a priori conditions for the possibility of experiential objects. This
justification also has another role in Kant's overall project. If he can prove the categories are the
necessary a priori grounds for the possibility of experiential objects, then he can justify the use of
philosophical synthetic a priori propositions. The preservation of such propositions is central to

The first synthesis of apprehension in intuition is a synthesis of sensibility, and as such captures the
dual empirical/a priori nature of the syntheses quite well. Apprehension consists in picking out

manifold of inner sense, organizing these items via the pure forms of intuition (a priori). The
synthesis of empirical intuitional content into apprehended items must be a priori, since space and
time are a priori and are the forms by which intuitional content is apprehended. Furthermore, these
intuitions manifest themselves to us in the representational manifold of inner sense, whose
successive stream is already a priori ordered by time. As Kant says: Wherever our representations

In the various attempts to reach that common aspiration these movements went through a series of
debates, controversies, tensions and strife which was indicative of the Protestant movement from its
inception and which brought about the Reformation. The fourth factor that necessitates a new study
is the fact that many existing analyses have been biased by the ideas and perceptions of Protestant
leaders which have distorted the perception and development of the movement. The last reason
McGrath gives for the need of a new study is the fact that Protestantism itself has changed in the last
fifty years. This study brings to the reader and to the scholar an updated version of the present–day
Protestant movement, its impact in present–day society and an analysis of its significance in the

78. Capitalism In Death Of A Salesman
The American Death: An Analysis of Death of a Salesman
After World War II, The U.S. entered into a time known as the Golden Age of Capitalism. A major
ideology that developed during this time was the American Dream. According to Merriam Webster,
the American Dream is "a happy way of living... that can be achieved by anyone... by working hard
and becoming successful." Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman critiques this ideology through
the outcome of Willy's life and in light of Karl Marx's ideas in Alienation.
One way Miller critiques the American Dream is through Marx's idea of proprietors and
propertyless. Marx states in Alienated Labor that "the whole society is divided into two classes of
proprietors and propertyless" (171). Throughout the story, the audience learns Willy is part of the
propertyless. This is demonstrated when Willy and Linda have a conversation about the refrigerator.
Linda mentions how they are close to paying it off, but Willy replies that "it just broke again" (73).
In light of Marx, since Willy is not able to own his refrigerator, he is part of the propertyless. On the
other hand, Howard, Willy's boss, is a proprietor. The way Howard achieves this job is through
inheritance. At one point in the story, Willy asks Howard if he can ... Show more content on

they die, this process will just continue with another worker. The workers may believe that they are
assets to the company, but in reality, they replaceable. While the American Dream may seem like a
