Critical Thinking Essay Writing
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Critical Thinking Essay Writing" can be both challenging
and rewarding. The complexity arises from the inherent nature of the topic, which demands not
just a coherent expression of ideas but also a deep understanding and application of critical
thinking skills. The process involves going beyond mere summarization or regurgitation of
information, requiring the writer to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information in a thoughtful
and structured manner.
One of the initial hurdles is comprehending the intricacies of critical thinking itself. Defining and
delineating the key components of critical thinking, such as logical reasoning, evidence
evaluation, and the ability to construct persuasive arguments, is essential. Additionally, the writer
must navigate through various perspectives, considering opposing viewpoints to demonstrate a
comprehensive understanding of the topic.
The next challenge lies in articulating thoughts clearly and concisely. Since critical thinking
involves a deep examination of ideas, the essay must strike a balance between depth and clarity.
Transforming intricate thoughts into accessible language can be a delicate task, as the writer
aims to engage the reader without oversimplifying complex concepts.
Furthermore, constructing a well-organized essay structure is crucial. The essay should have a
coherent introduction, a body that seamlessly transitions between ideas, and a conclusion that
summarizes the key points. Each paragraph must contribute to the overall argument, adding
depth and substance to the analysis.
Moreover, incorporating relevant evidence and examples to support arguments is paramount. The
writer must meticulously select and present evidence that not only supports their thesis but also
withstands scrutiny. This requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Critical Thinking Essay Writing" demands intellectual rigor,
clarity of expression, and a mastery of the principles of critical thinking. It is a task that requires
time, effort, and a genuine commitment to the development of well-reasoned arguments.
However, the skills honed in this process are invaluable, contributing to both academic and real-
world success.

Throughtout History, Illustrations and Paintings Have...
Throughout history, notorious and creative people have used illustrations and
paintings to play on people s emotions. One of the most famous examples of this was
during World War I, with the use of propaganda posters to increase nationalistic
feelings towards one s own country. Through the mass production and creativity of
the posters, many young men enlisted in their nation s army to protect and support
their country throughout the war.
This first poster (see Figure 1) was used by Germans during World War I; on the
bottom part of the poster there German writing which translates out to, It is essential
that the last blows achieve victory! Subscribe to the War Loan! This is simply saying
that, in order to finish off the war, you need ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This represents that the very well dressed man is hiding in the shadows from the
war; that he is trying to hide himself from the war altogether. On the other side of
the window, there is light outside that has several lines of marching soldiers, with
the American Flag flying right above them. Having the American flag flying above
these soldiers, gives the sense that they are heroes for going to fight this war.
Having the well dressed man inside and the marching soldiers outside shows the
viewer that the men who stay home and tremble in fear of the war do not deserve
glory. On the other hand the soldiers that are outside deserve glory.
Finally this last poster (see Figure 3) was used for English propaganda. In the
background there is a burning building and two lines of soldiers. The lines of
soldiers could represent two things: one being that the British army is much smaller
compared to Germany s. The second is that in the line of soldiers, there appears to
be a few empty spots which could correlate to the question at the top of the poster
that asks, WHO S ABSENT? and then asks another question at the bottom which is,
Is it you? These two questions are directed at British men (usually between the ages

The Dark Knight And Inception
There are many successful directors who have produced at least one blockbuster
film that is critically acclaimed, and Christopher Nolan has been able to do this
several times. Christopher Nolan began directing movies in 1998 and has directed
fourteen movies since 1998. The film critic Alissa Wilkinson notes in her article The
films of Christopher Nolan, explained, Nolan has shown himself to be interested in
both entertaining audiences and making them think, in pushing the boundaries of
what they believe a movie can and should be . Christopher Nolan also often deals
with the subjects of time, memory, and life philosophies that drive movies and
characters. Two of Nolan s most prominent films through his whole career have been
the Dark Knight(2008) and Inception(2010). Both of the films show how Nolan s
movies end ambiguously and how each protagonists in his films has an antagonist
with opposite philosophies and beliefs.
Inception is a film that contains a protagonist and antagonists with opposing
philosophical views and beliefs. The movie includes examples of the belief that
the world is real conflicting with the belief that the world is a dream with death as
the only way out. For instance in one part of the movie Dom is argueing with Mal
that they are in the real world as they both stand on the window ledge of opposing
buildings. Mal begs Dom to come with her as she says this world is a dream and
that the only way to wake up is by jumping.Dom tries to tell her that they are
Essay on Multimedia The Wide Spectrum
Multimedia The Wide Spectrum In this paper, I will endeavor to provide you with
a basic overview as to what multimedia consists of. I will also delve into the visual
aspect in the wide spectrum of multimedia to show what it consists of and for a better
understanding as to how it fits in.
Multimedia first began with games but Web pages, interactive courses, and catalogs
with sound and video have now dominated the stage. Not long ago, the term
multimedia referred to a room full of slide projectors, tape decks, and movie
projectors. Multimedia presentations were hard to put together and even harder to
run. Many of them took weeks of preparation and they were then shown only once
(Curtin 217). The computer has changed all of ... Show more content on

There is no question that multimedia can improve the quality of games and this is
shown through such creations as Playstation. In the end, it is that very game like
quality that can enhance a learning experience. Parents watching their children play
innovative games see how powerful multimedia is at teaching them how to read or
solve math problems even thought the children perceive the experience as just a
game. Building on the power of this perception, innovators have increasingly used
multimedia to support all kinds of activities that are not just games ( Partial Project
List ).
As computer applications programs become more complex, software publishers are
building multimedia presentations into their programs to introduce new features and
walk the user through them. In companies, this form of presentation will take a big
load off the overworked technical support staff (Curtin 218). For individuals at home
or in small businesses, it will make programs easier to learn and use.
Multimedia is extensively used for education and training in schools, businesses, and
the home. Education that implements multimedia allows you to proceed at your own
pace. It changes the boring presentations (to say the least) of the past and makes it
easy to be attentive with the help of sounds, movies, animations, and interactivity

Papers On Anthrax
Anthrax is a disease caused by a bacterium called Bacillus anthracis. It all started out
when Robert Koch first discovered the bacterium that caused Anthrax. Not only does
anthrax effect animals but also humans as well. In the United States on 2001, it was
reported that there were bioterrorist attacks happening throughout the country. Many
believed it was a bioterrorist attack from letters being delivered in the mail that
contain anthraxspores. The types of anthrax, causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis
and the treatment is what makes anthrax one of the viral diseases in the world.
Types of Anthrax: There are four types of anthrax that people can get the spores
inside of their bodies. The first one is cutaneous anthrax which happens by the spores
getting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This type of anthrax is more common in northern Europe where heroin injecting drug
users are affected by it. Injection anthrax has never been reported in the United States.
Doctors believe that injection and cutaneous anthrax are similar when it comes to the
symptoms. Injection anthrax can spread throughout the body fast and be difficult to
recognize and treat.
Causes of Anthrax: Anthrax spores are formed by anthrax bacteria that are found
in soil in majority parts of the world. The spores tend to hide for years until they
find their way into a host. For example, some hosts are wild or domestic livestock,
such as sheep, cattle, horses and goats. Anthrax is rare in the United States, but there
are cases still going on in Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Pakistan, and sub Saharan Africa.
Humans that are diagnosed with anthrax is the result of being around animals or
infected meat or hides. An example of anthrax that was spread without contact with
animals happen in the United States in 2001. 22 people were infected with anthrax
after being exposed to spores sent through the mail. Five of those people infected
died. Many started to believe and
The Brothers Kamazov Analysis
(4) No Sighted Living Absent Today Gone Tomorrow The mystery of human
existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for. The
Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Before me sat a young couple. It was
not our first meeting. They came often for counsel. We just are struggling in life,
they exclaimed at the beginning of an evening session. What are you struggling
with? I replied. As usual, a confused maze and daze of wandering contemplations
ensued. Well, we just don t know. We are just not happy. Oh, we love each other,
and things are very good, but . . . well, life just seems sort of empty and
meaningless. Do you know what I mean? Here sitting before me was a couple in
their thirties. They enjoyed three beautiful daughters. They lived in a mortgage
free home. She was very attractive. He was a tall strong good looking man. Both
possessed good jobs, drove nice cars, enjoyed many friends, but . . . well, as she
put it often, We are just not happy. After several visits, I asked, What do you really
want? They replied, Ah, well, guess we really don t know. What does we don t
know mean? So, some contemplative homework was in order. Their assignment was
to begin thoroughly assessing their lives through the lens of one question, For what
do I live? Upon returning the next week, the couple sat in front of me with blank
wordless tablets. Did you do your homework? Confusingly, she fumbled, We really
tried. Really, we did. We
The Civil War And American Revolution
Most people know it as the Civil War, but it ought to be best known as The
Confederate States of America, home to the 13 colonies from the Civil War and
American Revolution. The Confederate States of America originally started out with
11 states in 1860 and on July 15, 1870 Georgia was the last Confederate state; when
they were operating under the Articles of Confederation, providing guns to militias.
The founder found out the Constitution was too weak and decided to adopt the US
Constitution to have more power and adopt an army. Their army needed guns and
when they provided guns, this meant war. On December 15, 1971, a little after the
Civil War the Second Amendment was born. The Second Amendment ties in with
Confederacy because the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later on, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee then seceded and
joined the Confederacy. Georgia was the last to join the confederacy on July 15,
1870, over five years after the war ended. Almost every Southerner in the 13 states
has a rebel flag to represent their freedom. With the rebel flag clutched in his hands,
dressed in Confederate gray, a black man named Anthony Hervey, had devotion for
this flag when he found that his Great Great uncle fought in the Confederacy
during the time of the Civil War. With further research, Hervey found at least
100,000 blacks fought with the Confederates. Hervey chose the site to place the
flag where it once stood representing the South; he said. The battle flag stands for
freedom and states rights. Born in Virginia, Robert E. Lee chose to fight with the
south. He is known as one of the greatest generals in all history because of his
devotion to duty and honorable character. It is known as a flag for racism, but it is
not meant to be racist at all. This flag was originally created to be a battle flag for
the southern states; it is the Confederate or Rebel flag. Most people say that if
somebody owns a flag like this, he/she is racist, but that is not true. It is a battle
flag to represent freedom and proudly flown by Southerners because it is their
heritage. People believe it symbolizes racism because the Confederates had slaves,
but most of them did not have slaves and the ones who did owned a lot.
Comparing a Dou Vessel to a Zun Vessel Essay
When comparing two relatively similar artistic objects from the same culture,
there will invariably be similarities and differences between the two pieces. This is
the case when analyzing a Dou Vessel from late 5th to early 4th century BCE
China as well as a Zun Vessel from 13th century BCE. Both objects have similar
purposes as well as certain aspects of design. However, they differ on other points
of design and are also dramatically different in size. The parallels and distinctions of
the two pieces are reflective of the cultural disparities and different methods of
manufacturing during the two eras of creation. This particular Zun vessel was
introduced during the Shang dynasties rule over China. Its production took place in

The Zun has intricate images woven through the entire object, including a variety
of animal motifs. This can be interpreted as steps towards bold assertive statements
and even baroque ornamentation. (Thorp, p. 85) There are multiple dragons
inscribed on the image, a feature shared with the Dou Vessel. The use of animals
signifies an understanding of the animal form as well as infusing life and
excitement into the pieces. (Lee, p. 47) Both items also benefit from the
implementation inlays. However, the inlay usage on the Zun vessel is black
pigment. This is in stark contrast to the gold pigment inlay used in the Dou Vessel.
The gold inlay in the Dou vessel, which has a leaf like decoration, symbolizes a
new design characteristic that was not popular during the creation of the Zun
vessel. (Lee, p. 48) In addition to the distinctions in uses of inlay, the two objects
also differ greatly in size, possibly a reflection of the cultural differences. The Zun
vessel has features that almost double that of the Dou vessel in terms of diameter
and height. Unlike the Dou vessel, which contains handles, the Zun vessels ring
base design compels one to carry the object on a shoulder. (Thorp, p. 73) This could
in part be because during the Shang period, many of these pieces like the Zun were
used for cult rituals and activities. (Thorp, p. 61) Drinking was a significant facet of
some of these Shang offerings, which also included offerings in
The Physics of Archery Essay
The Physics of Archery
There are not many activities out there that relax and soothe me quite like shooting
my bow. It is not as simple as it sounds though, just pulling on the string, releasing the
string, and watching the arrow fly towards your target. There are a number of aspects
that must be taken into consideration when trying to shoot a bow and arrow
efficiently, this is where we will get into the physicsof archery.
There are two main things to consider when looking at archery and the physics
concepts behind it. First there is the bow, which basically is a device that uses human
force over a distance and converts that into stored Mechanical Potential Energy. The
second factor involves that stored Mechanical Energy being ... Show more content on

The materials that construct the Recurve bow must be taken into consideration
when looking at the force applied from the bow. The most popular material for
traditional archers today would have to be a certain type of wood from the yew
tree. The reason for this particular choice of wood is that it contains the highest
elastic energy storage per unit mass for any type of wood, which is around 700 Jkg
1. Which is very close to having the same rating as spring steel. However with
technology these days more people are leaning towards a type of carbon fiberglass
laminate. This particular combination brings both a lighter weight than wood and a
higher elasticity rating. The reason some wood bows are still around is due to the
fact the old timer traditional type archers shun using any kind of technology or
advancements to aid them in shooting their bows. The material of the strings also
needs to be taken into consideration, this is so because the string mass needs to be
kept as low as possible for obvious reasons with efficiency and speed of the bow.
Another thing to be looked at would be the Draw Weight or Draw Force of the bow,
which basically is how much weight or force is
The Money By Junot Diaz Summary
Reading The Money by Junot Diaz gave me the impression that Diaz was raised in
a strict but disciplined household. There are many parallels between my life and
Junot Diaz s life. We both came from low income families struggling for that pesky
paycheck. When we did receive that paycheck, most of it ended up going back to our
homelands to support the familywe had left behind and or pay off the houses we
owned or rented there. We both lived in the rough parts of our neighborhoods where
the recently moved in immigrants were victim to robberies and cons. Coincidentally,
I experienced a very similar situation that Junot Diaz described in his story.
In The Money, Diaz and his family were struggling to attain money. His mother was

The Future Of The American Economy
The future of the American economy rests heavily on the millennial generation s
shoulders. This generation (ages 16 36) is America s next work force, politicians,
CEOs, parents, soldiers, writers, and teachers. But, does this generation possess the
stamina, grit and patience upon which our ancestors depended so greatly? The
millennial generation s demand for instant gratification implies that they are not
capable of providing our nation with the stability it so desperately needs. Roberts
summarizes this sentiment by saying, From top to bottom, we are becoming a
society ruled by impulse, by the reflexive reach for quick rewards. We are becoming
an Impulse Society. Roberts points out that our nations is being driven by desire, not
need. This driving force is impacting even the youngest of our population. In her Ted
Talk in 2012, Economist Silvia Barcellos discusses the results of an instant
gratification test. The test involved giving young children each one marshmallow.
They are told that if they do not eat the marshmallow for 15 minutes they will receive
another; if they eat the original marshmallow before that time, they will not receive
another. The results showed that two out of every three children ate the marshmallow
before the 15 minutes were completed. The temptation to eat the marshmallow and
experience immediate gratification was simply too great. Silvia explains, People tend
to choose the things that give them instant pleasure over long term benefits (TED

How Does Jane Change Throughout The Novel
After confronting her aunt, Jane is shipped off to Lowood School. This is a
school for young, dependent girls, who are mostly orphaned from at least one
parent. This school s name also has a meaning behind it, Lowood is a place where
Jane is miserable at a portion of a time therefore it symbolized a low period in her
life. Jane brings her mentality from Gateshead to Lowood and is not willing to be
conformed into society by following a set of rules that do not please her as well as
obey silently as she did before, but then she meets Helen Burn. Helen gives Jane a
new perspective on life and how to live life. Helen encourages Jane to act
graciously, even to those who do not deserve it, because acting any other way will
not make the situation any less worse. Jane takes Helen s advice of being the bigger

Jacobean Era Research Paper
How did visual art change the culture and the influence of modern art today, from
the Jacobean and Elizabethan eras? Well, to put into perspective, the Jacobean era
was best known for the literary and visual arts, which was ruled by James I of
England. Comparing it to Elizabethan art, it was heavily influenced by the European
Renaissanceideals. But most importantly, the art that was composed around this time,
was immensely based around Queen Elizabeth s liking. The distinctions between the
early jacobean and the preceding Elizabethan styles are subtle ones, often merely a
question of degree, for although the dynasty changed, there was no distinct stylistic
transition (Jacobean Age 1). To have an outlook on the rest of this paper, the artists...

The arts in Europe blossomed into bold new forms, blending the philosophy, and
creative forms of the ancient civilizations of Rome and Greece with contemporary

Renaissance. Queen Elizabeth I reign was known as the Elizabethan era, often
referred to as the golden age, is when the first steps to the English Renaissance had
begun. Elizabethan artists were heavily influenced by the English Renaissance, as
well as Queen Elizabeth I. Her picture was usually incorporated in literature, as well
as paintings. Her love for pageantry, music, and dancing helped the artists get a better
point of view of her in their paintings, and sculptures. She did not care much between
popular entertainment, and higher arts. She was easily entertained watching bear

began under the rule of Elizabeth s younger Protestant brother, Edward VI.
Iconoclasm was the planned destruction of monuments, statues, images, pertaining to
religious icons. Elizabeth admired the art of the Catholic religion so much that she
played primary role in preserving some of the art that was trying to be destroyed. The

Types of Cost Drivers for The Hershey s Company:
The different types of cost drivers that are associated with The Hershey s company
can be listed as below:
A.Structural Cost Drivers:
It is more related to the selection of the location of plant, technology to be used, and
office layouts. The company must have a lot of research on these things because
these decisions are very crucial for the cost management and effectiveness of the
operation that the company conducts. So the management has to be very careful
about these long term decisions in order to save their large amount of dollar to their
company.
B.Organizational Cost Drivers:
Generally these costs occur after the structural costs. They are related to the
reorganizing of office equipment, working with a limited number of suppliers,
providing the information of cost to its employees and giving them the authority to
make decisions. These decisions have a moderate level of difficulty to change.
C.Activity Based Cost Drivers:
Generally, every activity that a company does has costs. So all the activities like
placing an order for its production, inspection of the raw materials, hiring of
employees, training for the new employees, packaging of the products, shipment of
the products, advertisements etc.
Identification of different costs:
Different types of costs for The Hershey s company can be as following:

This paper will discuss the art of negotiation. The focus will be on the UPS Strike
Negotiation of 1997 between UPS and the Teamsters. The negotiation will be briefly
described. The issues and interests of the involved parties will be discussed. Ethical
behaviors will be analyzed. Proposals for distributive and integrative negotiations are
developed for the conflict between the parties involved.

The mobilization of the union s members to shut down the company s operation was
the basic weapon which won the strike for the Teamsters.
4. Determine the Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement(BATNA) and Worst
Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (WATNA) for each side of the negotiation.
At the start of the strike, the BATNA for UPS was to offer to advance 10,000 part time
workers into full time jobs only after other full timers retired or quit. They also stated
they would only agree to create 1,000 new full time jobs. Their concessions for
subcontracting were also included in their Best Alternative to a Negotiated
Agreement. The Worst Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement for UPS was holding
out and refusing to concede to the demands of the union causing the company to lose
business and money.
The BATNA for the union workers was creating full time jobs for part timers and
reducing the hourly wage differential. The WATNA for the union was to be offered
the full time positions only after the current full time workers retired.
5. Develop a proposal for a distributive negotiation strategy for this negotiation.
The objective of a distributive negotiation is to achieve an efficient compromise by
focusing on the distribution of outcomes as opposed to meeting the needs of the
parties involved (Demarr, de Janasz, 2013). Distributive negotiations are often
adversarial in nature. UPS offering the

The Macroeconomic Perspectives of David Ricardo, Karl Marx, and John Stuart Mill
ECON 350 19 November 2012
Abstract
The author surveys three influential economists of the Classical era Ricardo, Marx,
and John Stuart Mill and introduces the reader to their Macroeconomic perspectives
based on some of their more prominent Macroeconomic theories.
David Ricardo
David Ricardo was a Classical Economist who lived from 1772 to 1823. In his
professional life he wore many hats: he was a businessman, a financer, a speculator,
and a member of Parliament. But what he is most remembered for is the role that he
played in the evolution of economic theory, alongside of such other greats as John
Stuart Mill and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was actually quite a big deal during Ricardo s since Protectionist policies were
hindering free trade, which Ricardo was a proponent of as can be seen from his
Law of Comparative Advantage. One of Ricardo s first interactions in the
economic dialogue of his time was based around the Quantity Theory of Money. At
the time there was something going on in Britain that would come to be known as
the Bullion Controversy . Basically, as a result of a potential war the British
government temporarily suspended the obligation of the Bank of England to
convert its notes into gold. During this time agricultural prices rose (which some
people attributes to poor harvests) and gold prices went up. It is on this second
point that Ricardo chimed in. Ricardo argued that the rise in gold prices was
actually the result of inflation. According to him, since the bank wasn t obligated to
exchange their notes for gold they were printing more notes than they had gold to
back them. This flood of currency, Ricardo said, was creating an excess supply which
was devaluing the currency and thus causing inflation (Laidler, p. 12).
Karl Marx
Karl Marx is probably best known for the work that he co authored with Fredrick
Engels entitled The Communist Manifesto and also for his work entitled Capital. He
is also arguably one of the most well known of the Classical Economists, or of any
The Pardoner of The Canterbury Tales Essay
The Pardoner of The Canterbury Tales
How can a man exact vengeance on God if there is nothing a mortal can do to hurt
Him? The Pardoner was born sterile, which resulted in abnormal physical
development. He blames God for his deformities and attempts to attack God by
attacking the link between God and mankind the Church.
In The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer indirectly depicts the characters through the stories
they tell. The tale is a window upon the person that tells it. However, the Pardoner s
tale seems to contradict this situation. The Pardoner, an immoral man, tells a moral
story because he believes that doing this will further his ultimate objective revenge

profit, is a contradiction to his theme. And thus I preach against the very vice/ I make
my living out of avarice (243). The Pardoner continues with his tale and condemns
gluttony, drinking, gambling, and swearing, but then declares that he is guilty of
each one. It is evident that the Pardoner is a hypocrite and that he has no intention of
changing.
In the tale, three young rioters discover that a good friend has died and they
mistakenly believe he was killed by a man named Death. They pledge that they will
find Death and avenge their friend. As they embark on their quest, they pass by an
old man and criticize his age. They inquire about Death, and the old man mentions
that he left Death by a tree. The rioters proceed to the tree, but find a pile of gold
florins rather than Death. Ultimately, the three young men kill each other in a vain
attempt to increase their personal share of the gold. Thus, the young men set out to
find Death and they succeeded in their search. Their greed was the cause of their
demise. The Pardoner is analogous to the rioters because
Why Do Aliens Do Not Go Away
Well, it just seems like the question of whether aliens exist just will not go away.
Just recently, I wrote an article about some possible proofs that aliens exist, and
how NASA is quiet about the entire thing. Now, to top that here is a list of people
who have allegedly had sex with aliens. I wonder if NASA is paying attention this
time? FIRST PERSON: STEPHANY FAY COHEN Stephany Fay Cohen is a
famous psychic, but she is also famous for apparently having slept with aliens.
Cohen claims that she has an Octopus boyfriend and that she has various sexual

she should do an interview with NASA to explain her story to them. SECOND

The Symbol of Blood in William Shakespeare s Macbeth...
The Symbol of Blood in William Shakespeare s Macbeth
Blood represents life, death and often injury. It is an essential part of life, and without
blood, we could not live. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to
represent treachery, murder and death. The word blood , or different forms of it,
appear numerous times throughout the play. Interestingly, the symbol of blood
changes throughout the play, corresponding to the atmosphere and mood changes in
the characters and the play.
First, blood is a reference of honor, and this occurs when Duncan sees the injured
sergeant and says, What bloody man is that? (1.2.1). This is symbolic of the brave
fighter who been injured in a valiant battle for Scotland. The sergeant ... Show more

Lady Macbeth starts this off when she asks the spirits to make thick [her] blood
(1.5.50). What she is saying by this, is that she wants to make herself insensitive
and remorseless for the deed she is hoping to commit. However, she forces
Macbeth to do the deed. Right before killing Duncan, Macbeth sees a dagger
floating in the air leading him to Duncan?s room and he sees on the blade and
dudgeon gouts of blood (2.1.58), indicating that the knife has been viciously
stabbed into someone. This is a Lady Macbeth knows that the evidence of blood is
a treacherous symbol, and knows it will deflect the guilt from her and Macbeth to
the servants when she says If he do bleed, I?ll gild the faces of the grooms withal,
for it must seem their guilt (2.2.71 73).
When Banquo states and question this most bloody piece of work (2.3.150), and
Ross asks is?t known who did this more than bloody deed? (2.4.31), they are both
inquiring as to who performed the treacherous acts upon Duncan. When Macbeth is
speaking about Malcolm and Donalbain, he refers to them as bloody cousins
A final way, and perhaps the most vivid use of the symbol blood, is of the theme of
guilt. First Macbeth hints at his guilt when he says Will all great Neptune?s ocean
wash this blood clean from my hand? (2.2.78), meaning that he wondered if he would
ever be able to forget the dastardly deed that he had committed. Then the ghost of
Banquo, all gory, and bloody comes to haunt Macbeth at the
Nuclear Weapons Of Mass Destruction
Karla Ximena Leyte
Though Paper #3
Weapons of mass destruction and their ability to challenge security and create
large scale obliteration have become the most significant threat in international
politics, causing vast concern of the consequences that may arise if they were to
emerge in the hands of dangerous non state actors. Chemical, nuclear, and
biological weapons not only possess the ability to end the life of many but also
pose negative effects on the environment and global economy. While their ability
to wipe out a mass of civilians causes terror throughout the world, the major
concern in regards to WMD is the possibility of their landing in the hands of
treacherous terrorist groups. This fear expanded in 2001 after the terrorist use of
anthrax in the United Sate s postal services (Reed). Although all nuclear, chemical,
and biological weapons acquire the ability to terrorize a civilization, nuclear
weapons pose the deadliest threat. Chemical weapons seize the ability to wipe out
thousands of lives with effective gas attacks while biological threats influence the
spread of deadly diseases. What makes these two forms of WMD less severe than
nuclear weapons is that protective clothing and gear can be worn to avert lethal gas
and it is difficult for a pandemic disease to become large scale in today s era
(Macfarlane). The United States should focus its concern on nuclear weapons and the
fatal threat they pose not only on human life but also on infrastructure. Arming an

President Jimmy Carter uses facts, personal experiences, and appeals to the

preserve the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Mr. Carter is not just writing to
make himself look better in the people s eye, but simply to protect what he
believes is an important asset to America and its residents. Through his essay, he
takes the reader on a journey around the refuge describing the land s flora and
fauna. The President opens up with describing the refuge as a wide range of
landscapes that bare the birthplaces of polar bears and caribou. This magnificent
area is as vast as it is wild, from windswept coastal plains where polar bears and

Beowulf Is The Hero Of All Heroes
I m writing about ancient heroes and whether or not they can be heroes at the
present day time.im going to tell you about their pros as in good things about them
and their cons as in bad things. I will also choose one modern day hero to come pare
my ancient hero to and tell you where he from either a movie or a comic book.
Beowulf is my ancient hero. I chose Beowulf because of all the qualities he has.
Beowulf is the hero of all heroes he is strong, and courageous. He would risk his
own life to save other people life s. He never back down to any person or thing and
has never run any from a fight. He throws his self at danger to try to get rid of evil
and look for people to help. In this day of age, I don t think he would be a good
hero for a few reasons. Reason number one I think he is really too arrogant to
throw his self at ever one problem thinking he is going to fix it. I personally think
a hero should be asking them if they want your help before they make it worst. Or
they can wait till they see someone in danger then throw yourself in the middle.
Reason two I think he s arrogant will be the death of him because he think so
mighty of his self. He will think he is unstoppable and that s where his demise will
come from. Reason three he not that smart he more like a jock most heroes are
usually smart and clever Beowulf isn t if he meant an evenly match villain he cloud
loss fairly easy from how choices he make . Reason four is the way he dresses. The

Marvell was more persuasive than the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of

that they wanted to woo over in order so they can sleep with them. I believe that
the poem To the Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell was more persuasive than the
poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Robert Herrick. The Cavalier

Herrick states, Then be not coy, but use your time,/ And, while ye may, go marry;

the women to stop being shy and to not waste their youth. He told the women that
he talked about to not waste away and enjoy your youth while you have it. But,
still, Herrick was overall more demanding than Marvell s. Even though both of the
Cavalier poems were about having sex, Marvell s poem was more of a romance
poem than Herrick s poem. Marvell wrote, Thy beauty shall no more be found,
/ Nor , in thy marble vault, shall sound/ My echoing says (Marvell, ln. 25 27).
Marvell was saying that beauty will no longer be there one day. Herrick said, For
having lost but once your prime,/ You may forever tarry (Herrick, ln. 15 16).
Herrick was saying that your youth will not always be there so best use it to their
advantage. The Cavalier poem To His Coy Mistress by Marvell was more
persuading than the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time by Herrick.
Although they were both mainly focused on the topic of sex Marvell was more of a

Adolf Hitler s Methamphetamines
Methamphetamine
The use of amphetamines dates back to World War II when Adolf Hitler would
dose his soldiers with the drug in order to keep them going all day and night with
little need for nourishment or hydration. It is the reason the Nazi s were able to
take over Europe at an unbelievable rate of speed. Hitler himself would get injected
with amphetamines up to 5 times a day. It is believed that his mad rants were due to
his drug addiction. Japanese soldiers also used amphetamines during the Japanese war.
Perhaps the reason for its appeal to soldiers in times of war were the stimulant effects
to the sympathetic nervous system to increase alertness and decrease fatigue. It

Alexander the Great gave it to his soldiers to relieve the pain in their feet from the

different styles one font can change into, including ornamental text design. The

traditional style with an artistic flair of more ornamental design. I chose this font

graphic design, and without companies like Hoefler Co. some of the most
recognizable companies would have a very different
Success Definition Essay
Success is one of those words that does not have a uniform definition that can apply
to every circumstance. Success can mean plenty of things; to someone who started
out with nothing and gained little, they would see themselves as successful. On the
other hand, someone who started off with plenty can have a different idea of success
from the person who started with nothing. I am one of those people who started off
with nothing; my parents and I immigrated to the United States from Nigeria and to
my family back in Nigeria, I am very successful. Yet I see myself doing much more;
my definitionof success may change over time, but there is one thing that I expect
to have in all my ideas of success: Being so successful that your success rubs off on
other people who need it. In thirty years, I wish to be in a position, in which I
would be able to help people like my family in Nigeria and help people find their
own version of success. Another important aspect of my definition of success is
being able to keep in touch with the people that helped me reach my version of
success. People such as my math teacher, who introduced me to Computer Science,
my parents, who taught me many important lessons and helped me create a mindset
that allows me to be determined, and my friends, the people I formed study groups

Report Ld 50 of Cockroaches
Pharmacology Report 1: Determination of an insecticide in cockroaches
Introduction
Pesticides are toxic and go through many different testings and procedures before
they are put on the shelf in various industries. One general method that is used to
asses toxicity of pesticides before released for sale is the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50)
method. This method is conducted by calculating the most accurate dose of toxin
that will kill animals 50% of the time. Before determining an accurate LD50 of a
chemical however, a range finding analysis of the chemical will be performed in
order to calculate the most accurate LD50. Undergoing this procedure includes using
a wide spread range of concentrations which are mostly preformed at log dose
intervals. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Table 1.2 shows one of the greatest errors possibly in this experiment. The average
weight lies at a range of 0.106g which speaking on the insect level is quite a
significant number here. The method of weighing out the cockroaches was
extremely inaccurate and in order to achieve an accurate LD50 an accurate weight
is required as stated earlier. Also not all cockroaches were exactly 2cm in length as
suggested by the method hence some cockroaches had a higher resistance to
propoxur due to greater weight and size which meant consistency was not at all
achieved.
Another reason why results may have varied from group to group could be due to
miscalculations and human error while performing dilutions. Dilutions is a very
important part of the experiment and if there was an error in one simple dilution then
it could have carried on from tube to tube having detrimental effects on the
concentrations of the solution being created.
Also application of the solution to the cockroaches was not an easy task, the
cockroaches were able to move around and escape from containment prosing an
extremely large problem because if the cockroach were to escape and become lost,
the entire average weight would have to be changed. Preventing this setback
happened to cause another dilemma, to slow down the cockroaches and comatose
them freezing was applied. However if the
Persuasive Drunk Driving
Drunk driving is a serious problem that continues to take thousands of lives each
year. Drunk driving is highly illegal, highly dangerous, and 100% preventable. It
must be put to rest. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration, drunk driving fatalities increased by nearly 5% from 2011 to 2012.
This trend is moving in the opposite direction that it should be. The NHTSA also
reports that, on average, somebody is killed in a drunk drivingaccident every 53
minutes. Every 2 minutes, somebody will be injured by a drunk driver. It is not
uncommon that those injured are sober, and mere victims of another motorist s
poor decision to drive under the influence of alcohol. My best friends father was
driving home, sober, from a work function in May of 2007. A driver with a Blood

Essay On File Sharing
An Examination of File sharing on the Internet
Napster and its founder held the promise of everything the new medium of the
Internet encompassed: youth, radical change and the free exchange of information.
But youthful exuberance would soon give way to reality as the music industry
placed a bull s eye squarely on Napster.
I. Introduction
Today the use of a computer has provided many privileges to its users, and among
those privileges the main and largest one is the distribution of information across the
internet. Through the internet, the average person has the ability to access millions
of databases of information at no cost. This is the intent that the internet was founded
on; that all people could come together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus because no one realized the true potential of the internet (nor was the
technology available at the time), no great amount of information was transferred
from computer to computer, at least by the average person. Each file had to be
transferred physically by floppy discs that could only hold an insignificant 1.44
Megabytes. Sure, you could still share files back then, but this required the physical
act of getting the disk, transferring it to your computer, and then copying the file. All
this took a relatively large amount of effort compared to the copy and paste methods
of copying files today.
After a while around 1995, a small underground network of file sharing developed
through the use of a medium known as mIRC. m IRC is basically the early version
of today s chat rooms with the exception that most users identities can be kept
hidden from one another while still allowing the users to exchange information
freely. These users created their own private FTP sites which other users could
upload and download from. These users became labeled as internet pirates , who
dedicated their time to obtaining the latest software and other such files to upload to
FTP sites whose IP addresses changed constantly so that they could not be tracked.
These FTP sites grew to
United for One
In the book, Outcasts United, by St. John, my favorite chapter is actually the first
one. Chapter one is all about Luma, the soccer coach of the refugees. The reason
chapter one is my favorite is because she reminds me a lot of myself. Luma wants
to part from her parents and stay in the United States of America. Her choice came
with the consequences of her parents and sister not communicating with her again
if she chooses to stay in the US. Her grandma would still communicate about the
family until she passes away in a later chapter. Another example of why this is my
favorite is because I can relate to tons of it. My dad no longer talks to me due to
me moving out at too young of an age. I moved to the city to be closer to work and
school but in his eyes I was sinning. This is also why I think I relate most to Luma.
There are other reasons why I think that I relate to Luma. Throughout the whole
book, Luma never wants to give up. For example in chapter nine, Get Lost , when
Luma knows she has to find a new field for her fugeesto play on. According to St
John, on page 93, the YMCA calls and lets Luma know they found a field for her.
She never gave up on her high hopes. Luma always wanted the best for her players.
I am just like Luma, as I never give up on things. My number one struggle I never
give up on is my exercise. Luma has a great strength in her hopes. She honestly
doesn t care about anyone s negative opinions. It is crazy how much I think I relate to
Luma. Just
Breaking Bad Gender Roles
TOPIC The topic for my final research project is portrayals of gender roles within
relationships in television shows. Specifically, I will be analyzing how women in
romantic relationships interact with their partners in the television series, Breaking
Bad. Female portrayals in various forms of media have been analyzed extensively
due to the genderrole stereotypes that are often maintained. The topic of research that
I am proposing requires further analysis since there has not been sufficient research
conducted in regards to women within romantic relationships. This analysis would
take a closer, more specific, look at gender differences in television.

This article is important because it looks at how gender differences within the
home and the workplace are perpetuated by popular culture in television
commercials. Eight hypotheses were created before conducting the study in
regards to gender inequality in commercials. The data for the study conducted was
obtained by analyzing television commercials from a three year time period
broadcasted on popular programs (Pp. 332 33). The independent variables of the
study were sex, race, family relationship, work status, occupational category, job
authority, and target audience (Pp. 335). The outcome variables were interaction
style and sex objectification (Pp. 334). The results of the study showed that in
television women are usually underrepresented, more likely to be shown in family
roles, less likely to be shown as workers, and more likely to be shown a sex objects
than men in commercials (Pp. 336 38). Overall, this study showed readers that there
has been little movement towards gender equality in television; differences between
the two genders are highlighted and
A Compare And Contrast Fats Research Paper
Compare and Contrast Fats Generally, the word shortening means any group of solid
fats. Shortenings generally consist of nearly 100 percent fat. It may be made from
vegetable oils, animal fats, or both. Shortenings are used for may purposes, so
manufacturers have formulated various kinds of fats with various properties.
(Gisslen, 2013)
All Purpose Shortening
Also known as regular shortening, have a tough, waxy texture, and small particles of
the fat tend to hold their shape in a dough or batter. They are called plastic
shortenings, which means they are moldable at room temperature. They have a good
creaming ability. Which means that a good quantity of air can be mixed into them to
give a batter lightness and leavening power. This type of shortening melts only at a
high temperature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are also used in many other pastries, breads, and products mixed by creaming,
such as certain pound cakes, cookies, and quick breads.
High Ratio Shortening
These are soft shortenings that spread easily throughout a batter and quickly coat
the particles of sugar and flour. The are call high ratio because they were devised for
use in cake batter that contain a high ratio of sugar and liquid to flour. They also
contain added emulsifying agents, so they can hold a larger quantity of liquid and
sugar than regular shortenings. Which gives a smoother and finer texture to cake and
make them moister. Commonly referred to as emulsifying shortening.
High ratio shortening does not cream well. When a recipe calls for creaming
shortening and sugar, regular shortening should be used. High ratio shortening is
often used in icings because it can hold more sugar and liquid without curdling. It is
more temperature stable and will hold air better upon whipping, improving volume
and stability.

These articles relate to the book because of the relation to homeland security and
military spending. In the book on page 307, the book talks about the Department of
Defense (DOD). It says that the DOD has assumed counterterrorism function to
secure America. It says the primary purpose of the DOD is to lead our country in
times of war. The secondary reason is to assist local law enforcement agencies during
times of emergency, which includes counter terrorism help. On page 381 the topic of
discussion is militarization and police work. Military equipment is often made
available to local law enforcement agencies because smaller department have smaller
budgets, thus military funding is a relevant topic in the book.

SpaceWar on the Atari, which featured two joysticks to play the games (White, 2009).
A few years later, as technology continued advancing, the term multiplayer developed
different meanings. By the late 70s many of the country s universities were linked
through the modern internet s predecessor ARPANET (The Advanced Research
Projects Agency Network) also known as pre internet. ARPANET connected

As Roy Trubshaw stated: (1980) MUD was originally little more than a series of
interconnected locations where you could move and chat (Indvik, 2012). By the
early 80s MUDs had approximately 1000 users, primarily in the U.K and U.S. This
early system set the foundation for multiplayer gaming. After the introduction of
various MUDs, the idea of gaming over a network began to really catch on by the
middle 1980s. In 1985 owners of the board game Dungeons and Dragons began
licensing the game to software developers. The company wanted to take advantage
of the adoption of personal computers in the home, such as Macintosh, and provide
a digital medium for their game. Thirteen games were developed in all and were
connected through a PPP system. Each game required extensive instruction
manuals to use, some as long as twenty eight pages (Indvik, 2012). As sort of a
payoff for the complexity, these games were more advanced than the previous
generation of MUDs. Most provided two dimensional interfaces and characters and
were the first of their kind. Meanwhile in 1987, Atari developed its own gaming
system named the Atari ST. These consoles could be connected to one another on a
network known as MIDI. The MIDI architecture was a simple iteration of the
Dungeons and Dragons system. Players could connect to one another and form a
MIDI ring that connected one another s computer. Up to sixteen players could

In this class, I have learned a lot of valuable food and alcohol safety rules.
Throughout this class, I learned a lot from the food portion. I learned the different
temperatures of cooking for the different types of food including; chicken, red meat,
and seafood. I also learned forms of contamination, the flow of food and cleaning and
sanitizing. Learning these things will help impact my career plan and employability
because this is an area within events that sometimes goes overlooked and will make
me stand out from the crown with these certificates.
The Food Code s purpose is to assist food control jurisdictions at all levels of
government by providing them with a scientifically sound technical and legal
basis for regulating the retail and food service segment of the industry. The Food
Code s main focus is to be an overall food safety model, that each local, state and
federal regulators can use as a model. The National Restaurant Association (NRA)
supports the Food Code by helping make changes to the Code that it applies better
to the restaurants. Because the Food Code isn t a law, some areas like proper
handwashing and sanitation things go overlooked and the NRA is making the
changes to the Food Code so every part of the restaurant s operations are touched

This event happened on April 15, 2013 in Boston Massachusetts. Two brothers by the
names of Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev decided to place two pressure cooker
bombs amidst the crowd of marathon runners. Only two seconds apart, the two
bombs went off along the finish line on Boylston Street. Leading up to the event
there was the conflict in the middle east, which is where both the brothers were born,
and they wanted a way to get back at the United States. There was no anticipation to
this event because there hadn t been any sort of threat or previous attack on this

This paper discusses the elements of the Imaginary, Symbolic, and Real Orders in
Aasmani s life and studies how these orders operate and lead to an awareness of the
fragmented constructed nature of the self, which ultimately enables her to put herself
together.
Shamsie is a Pakistani author, who in her novels, consistently presents Pakistani
society as a highly complex, mind boggling, sophisticated society, crammed with
distinctive and memorable characters. Broken Verses (2005) is Shamsie s fourth
novel, a striking story which is a continuation and development of Shamsie s
distinctive and appealing writing voice. Kamila Shamsie weaves a story that skilfully
combines political intrigue with family dynamics. In the Journal of Postcolonial

The symbolic order is the social world of linguistic communication, intersubjective
relations, knowledge of ideological conventions, and the acceptance of the law.
Once the subject enters into language and accepts the rules and dictates of society, it
is able to deal with others. The acceptance of language s rules is aligned with the
Oedipus complex, according to Lacan. The symbolic is made possible because of
your acceptance of the Name of the Father (the fundamental signifier which permits
signification to proceed normally), those laws and restrictions that control both your
desire and the rules of communication (Evans 121). Through recognition of the Name
of the Father, one is able to enter into a community of others. The symbolic, through
language, is the pact which links... subjects together in one action. The human action
par excellence is originally founded on the existence of the world of the symbol,
namely on laws and contracts (Lacan 230). The symbolic represents a further remove
from the mother. We are all cut off from the Imaginary, primordial state and long for

The Election Process Of The Electoral College
In November, many Americans will trek to their designated polling place to cast their
vote for the next President of the United States. The U.S. government loves to preach
that every vote matters, and that citizens should not take that responsibility lightly.
During the presidential election cycle, states hold an open election in which all
eligible citizens can participate. Citizens have the ability to vote for a distinct ticket ,
which consists of candidates for Vice President and President. Most Americans are
relatively aware of this step in the voting process. What happens after this stage,
though, is not as well tacit. It is at this point in the election process that the Electoral
Collegebegins to take effect. The Electoral College is used in the same manner for
48 states; with the exception of Maine and Nebraska. After each of the votes in
these 48 states are tallied and counted, the major political party with a candidate
who won the majority vote in any of those states is sanctioned to choose a panel of
individuals who will cast the state s real vote for President. The Electoral College
comprises of these 538 electors. The number of electoral votes for a state is not
solely based on population, they are allocated based on their representation in
Congress. This means each state is given a minimum of 3 electoral votes (at least 1
representative and 2 senators) regardless of the population size in the state. American
citizens cast their vote for President in November,
The, Misery, By Richard Farnsworth As Buster, And
Frances...
Imagine being rescued after suffering a major car wreck, only to be kidnapped by
your number one fan. Starring Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes, James Caan as Paul
Sheldon, Richard Farnsworth as Buster, and Frances Sternhagen as Virginia, Misery
is a psychological thriller produced and directed by Rob Reiner. In this 1990
psychological thrillerfilmyou will experience thrill, action, suspense, despair and
misery, all powered by composer Marc Shaiman and his use of musicto set the mood
for the audience.
Films and movies are a composition of elements that make that essentially come
together as one to form a piece of art. Although a film is not complete with missing
elements, some elements when used out of place can break a movie. Some of these
elements include, but are not limited to, a character s costume and makeup, lighting,
camera direction, acting, special effects, and, sound effects and music. In some films
one element may be the overriding factor but when put together, these elements work
together to please an audience.
Each element on its own, has an important role it plays in the creation of a film or
movie. In Misery, for example, the choice of music composition used for major
scenes in the movie helps to build on the plot, suspense and rising action, on many
other scenes, the fast paced music led to nail biting and hair pulling moments.
Without the wise choice of the fast paced string, Classical music, Misery would have
not been the psychological thriller it
Ira Byock s Doctor-Assisted Suicide Is Unethical And...
There are several reasons why physician assisted suicide is such an ongoing
argument between people in this day and age. Whether they want it legalized or don t
want anything to do with it, it s safe to assume that this topic is rather controversial in
our society. In the debate titled Doctor Assisted SuicideIs Unethical and Dangerous
written by Ira Byock at the New York Times, he states, Legalizing assisted suicide
fixes nothing. The principle that doctors must not kill patients stands. Two moral
wrongs don t make a right (Byock, 2015). Some may agree with Byock, but others
truly believe that the patient should be able to make a choice about their end of life
treatment and no one else should be able to tell them otherwise.

In certain states, it has nothing to do with a doctor s Hippocratic oath and it
should be stated over and over again that this is what the patient wants not what the
doctor wants (Botelho, 2015). The doctor has no say in the matter other than to
agree or disagree with the patient s wishes. If there is no possible route of
treatment for a patient, it should be allowed for the doctors to give the okay if the
patient doesn t want to harm themselves or their families in the months or years of
trauma that would come with their terminal illnesses. For patients, it is nothing but
pain and suffering. As stated earlier: If we can do it to our animals, isn t it fair that
we can do it for ourselves as well? If anyone see s that their animal is in pain, the
first thing an owner does is ask a veterinarian what the right treatment option is, and
usually, it is euthanasia if they re all out of

1) Our goal throughout our project was to address the lack of enthusiasm with
helping others. We selected to tackle this issue so that we could help those who are
less fortunate as well as so that we can be a model to all who look up to us.
2) At our schools, a program had been established that introduced volunteering to
teens. This program was implemented to bring awareness to the scarcity in the
number of volunteers. This program gives students opportunities to help those who
need it. Recently, our community held a fundraiser to find the cure for cancer. This

Difference Between Cricket And Cricket
Baseball vs Cricket
To many people think baseball and cricket are very similar, but the rules of hitting,
fielding, and running are completely different. They bother having someone hitting
the ball and throwing, but the traditions of the sports are what separate them
completely. The two sports are argued which one is the greatest of all time. Baseball
is more common in America then Cricket. Baseball is known as the pastime of
American. It began in the late 1800 s and is very popular today. There are many
different types of baseball played all over. They go from tee ball to Major league
baseball. Kids basically grew up playing this sport in American. Hitting in baseball
starts when the pitcher toes the rubber. The pitcher throws the ball however he
wants, as long as he does not deceive a runner that is on base with his motion
toward home plate. The hitter uses a round bat to hit the round ball squarely. The
batter can hit the ball wherever he wants or can. For the batter to be called safe he
has to reach first before the ball reaches first before he does. Each person who
touches home is considered one run. The hitter can hit the ball and stop at first
base to get a single, stop at second for a double, third for a triple, or home for a
home run. A hitter can also get a home run by hitting the ball over the fence. That is
the ways a hitter can score in baseball. Fielding is completely different in baseball
then cricket. There are 9 fielders on the field at once.
The Political Philosophy of Karl Raimund Popper
Karl Raimund popper (1902 to 1994) was an influential philosopher of science, who
philosophized about society, in much the same way he philosophized about science in
a critical spirit. His personal experience, as an Austrian Jew in the days of the Nazi
Anschluss (meaning link up or annexation in the German language), provided him a
wealth of firsthand experience and insights into the nature of totalitarian governments.
At a point in popper s life he was an enthusiast of Marxist socialism, but that
enthusiasm was short lived as he soon began to develop a skeptical turn of mind
towards Marxist socialism. He questioned the rationale in the sacrifice of human life
which communism found necessary to its cause, after the leaders of the ... Show more

They also postulated a broad range of social teleological theories generally called
historic ism in which society was forced into accepting a unilateral version of reality
which was wholly certain as to it present state and future outcomes.
In the defense of the liberal tradition in politics Popper developed certain
philosophical positions, to counter the notions by those philosophers who advocated
such illiberal philosophical ideas that could only lead to the creation of closed
societies for the world. The philosophical positions which popper advanced included
a twin edged liberalism , in the sense of peacefully tolerating the proponents of
closed societies in free societies, as long as they stuck to verbal arguments only, and
social engineering by a piecemeal or (gradual) approach to social reforms.
Popper considered the west and the rest of the world endangered by the influence of
such thought that promoted a historicist or collectivist frame of social thought. This
sort of frame for social thought he argued could only lead to the establishment of
authoritarian and totalitarian forms of government, which would in turn suppress and
constrain the liberties and lives of people in the long run.
The defense of the liberal tradition in

Critical Thinking Essay Writing

  • 1. Critical Thinking Essay Writing Crafting an essay on the subject of "Critical Thinking Essay Writing" can be both challenging and rewarding. The complexity arises from the inherent nature of the topic, which demands not just a coherent expression of ideas but also a deep understanding and application of critical thinking skills. The process involves going beyond mere summarization or regurgitation of information, requiring the writer to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information in a thoughtful and structured manner. One of the initial hurdles is comprehending the intricacies of critical thinking itself. Defining and delineating the key components of critical thinking, such as logical reasoning, evidence evaluation, and the ability to construct persuasive arguments, is essential. Additionally, the writer must navigate through various perspectives, considering opposing viewpoints to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the topic. The next challenge lies in articulating thoughts clearly and concisely. Since critical thinking involves a deep examination of ideas, the essay must strike a balance between depth and clarity. Transforming intricate thoughts into accessible language can be a delicate task, as the writer aims to engage the reader without oversimplifying complex concepts. Furthermore, constructing a well-organized essay structure is crucial. The essay should have a coherent introduction, a body that seamlessly transitions between ideas, and a conclusion that summarizes the key points. Each paragraph must contribute to the overall argument, adding depth and substance to the analysis. Moreover, incorporating relevant evidence and examples to support arguments is paramount. The writer must meticulously select and present evidence that not only supports their thesis but also withstands scrutiny. This requires a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy. In conclusion, writing an essay on "Critical Thinking Essay Writing" demands intellectual rigor, clarity of expression, and a mastery of the principles of critical thinking. It is a task that requires time, effort, and a genuine commitment to the development of well-reasoned arguments. However, the skills honed in this process are invaluable, contributing to both academic and real- world success. • 2. Throughtout History, Illustrations and Paintings Have... Throughout history, notorious and creative people have used illustrations and paintings to play on people s emotions. One of the most famous examples of this was during World War I, with the use of propaganda posters to increase nationalistic feelings towards one s own country. Through the mass production and creativity of the posters, many young men enlisted in their nation s army to protect and support their country throughout the war. This first poster (see Figure 1) was used by Germans during World War I; on the bottom part of the poster there German writing which translates out to, It is essential that the last blows achieve victory! This represents that the very well dressed man is hiding in the shadows from the war; that he is trying to hide himself from the war altogether. On the other side of the window, there is light outside that has several lines of marching soldiers, with the American Flag flying right above them. Having the American flag flying above these soldiers, gives the sense that they are heroes for going to fight this war. Having the well dressed man inside and the marching soldiers outside shows the viewer that the men who stay home and tremble in fear of the war do not deserve glory. On the other hand the soldiers that are outside deserve glory. Finally this last poster (see Figure 3) was used for English propaganda. In the background there is a burning building and two lines of soldiers. The lines of soldiers could represent two things: one being that the British army is much smaller compared to Germany s. The second is that in the line of soldiers, there appears to be a few empty spots which could correlate to the question at the top of the poster that asks, WHO S ABSENT? and then asks another question at the bottom which is, Is it you? These two questions are directed at British men (usually between the ages of 18
  • 3. The Dark Knight And Inception There are many successful directors who have produced at least one blockbuster film that is critically acclaimed, and Christopher Nolan has been able to do this several times. Christopher Nolan began directing movies in 1998 and has directed fourteen movies since 1998. The film critic Alissa Wilkinson notes in her article The films of Christopher Nolan, explained, Nolan has shown himself to be interested in both entertaining audiences and making them think, in pushing the boundaries of what they believe a movie can and should be . Christopher Nolan also often deals with the subjects of time, memory, and life philosophies that drive movies and characters. Two of Nolan s most prominent films through his whole career have been the Dark Knight(2008) and Inception(2010). Both of the films show how Nolan s movies end ambiguously and how each protagonists in his films has an antagonist with opposite philosophies and beliefs. Inception is a film that contains a protagonist and antagonists with opposing philosophical views and beliefs. The movie includes examples of the belief that the world is real conflicting with the belief that the world is a dream with death as the only way out. For instance in one part of the movie Dom is argueing with Mal that they are in the real world as they both stand on the window ledge of opposing buildings. Mal begs Dom to come with her as she says this world is a dream and that the only way to wake up is by jumping.Dom tries to tell her that they are
  • 4. Essay on Multimedia The Wide Spectrum Multimedia The Wide Spectrum In this paper, I will endeavor to provide you with a basic overview as to what multimedia consists of. I will also delve into the visual aspect in the wide spectrum of multimedia to show what it consists of and for a better understanding as to how it fits in. Multimedia first began with games but Web pages, interactive courses, and catalogs with sound and video have now dominated the stage. Not long ago, the term multimedia referred to a room full of slide projectors, tape decks, and movie projectors. Multimedia presentations were hard to put together and even harder to run. Many of them took weeks of preparation and they were then shown only once (Curtin 217). The computer has changed all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no question that multimedia can improve the quality of games and this is shown through such creations as Playstation. In the end, it is that very game like quality that can enhance a learning experience. Parents watching their children play innovative games see how powerful multimedia is at teaching them how to read or solve math problems even thought the children perceive the experience as just a game. Building on the power of this perception, innovators have increasingly used multimedia to support all kinds of activities that are not just games ( Partial Project List ). As computer applications programs become more complex, software publishers are building multimedia presentations into their programs to introduce new features and walk the user through them. In companies, this form of presentation will take a big load off the overworked technical support staff (Curtin 218). For individuals at home or in small businesses, it will make programs easier to learn and use. Multimedia is extensively used for education and training in schools, businesses, and the home. Education that implements multimedia allows you to proceed at your own pace. It changes the boring presentations (to say the least) of the past and makes it easy to be attentive with the help of sounds, movies, animations, and interactivity (Hajick). When the Web was

Not only does anthrax effect animals but also humans as well. In the United States on 2001, it was reported that there were bioterrorist attacks happening throughout the country. Causes of Anthrax: Anthrax spores are formed by anthrax bacteria that are found in soil in majority parts of the world. The spores tend to hide for years until they find their way into a host. Five of those people infected died. Many started to believe and
  • 6. The Brothers Kamazov Analysis (4) No Sighted Living Absent Today Gone Tomorrow The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for. The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Before me sat a young couple. It was not our first meeting. They came often for counsel. We just are struggling in life, they exclaimed at the beginning of an evening session. What are you struggling with? I replied. As usual, a confused maze and daze of wandering contemplations ensued. Well, we just don t know. We are just not happy. Oh, we love each other, and things are very good, but . . . well, life just seems sort of empty and meaningless. Do you know what I mean? Here sitting before me was a couple in their thirties. They enjoyed three beautiful daughters. They lived in a mortgage free home. She was very attractive. He was a tall strong good looking man. Both possessed good jobs, drove nice cars, enjoyed many friends, but . . . well, as she put it often, We are just not happy. After several visits, I asked, What do you really want? They replied, Ah, well, guess we really don t know. What does we don t know mean? So, some contemplative homework was in order. Their assignment was to begin thoroughly assessing their lives through the lens of one question, For what do I live? Upon returning the next week, the couple sat in front of me with blank wordless tablets. Did you do your homework? Confusingly, she fumbled, We really tried. Really, we did. We

The Civil War And American Revolution Most people know it as the Civil War, but it ought to be best known as The Confederate States of America, home to the 13 colonies from the Civil War and American Revolution. The Confederate States of America originally started out with 11 states in 1860 and on July 15, 1870 Georgia was the last Confederate state; when they were operating under the Articles of Confederation, providing guns to militias. The founder found out the Constitution was too weak and decided to adopt the US Constitution to have more power and adopt an army. Their army needed guns and when they provided guns, this meant war. Later on, Arkansas, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee then seceded and joined the Confederacy. Georgia was the last to join the confederacy on July 15, 1870, over five years after the war ended. Almost every Southerner in the 13 states has a rebel flag to represent their freedom. With the rebel flag clutched in his hands, dressed in Confederate gray, a black man named Anthony Hervey, had devotion for this flag when he found that his Great Great uncle fought in the Confederacy during the time of the Civil War. With further research, Hervey found at least 100,000 blacks fought with the Confederates. Hervey chose the site to place the flag where it once stood representing the South; he said. The battle flag stands for freedom and states rights. Born in Virginia, Robert E. Lee chose to fight with the south. He is known as one of the greatest generals in all history because of his devotion to duty and honorable character. It is known as a flag for racism, but it is not meant to be racist at all. This flag was originally created to be a battle flag for the southern states; it is the Confederate or Rebel flag. Most people say that if somebody owns a flag like this, he/she is racist, but that is not true. It is a battle flag to represent freedom and proudly flown by Southerners because it is their heritage. People believe it symbolizes racism because the Confederates had slaves, but most of them did not have slaves and the ones who did owned a lot.
  • 8. Comparing a Dou Vessel to a Zun Vessel Essay When comparing two relatively similar artistic objects from the same culture, there will invariably be similarities and differences between the two pieces. This is the case when analyzing a Dou Vessel from late 5th to early 4th century BCE China as well as a Zun Vessel from 13th century BCE. Both objects have similar purposes as well as certain aspects of design. However, they differ on other points of design and are also dramatically different in size. The parallels and distinctions of the two pieces are reflective of the cultural disparities and different methods of manufacturing during the two eras of creation. This particular Zun vessel was introduced during the Shang dynasties rule over China. Its production took place in close... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Zun has intricate images woven through the entire object, including a variety of animal motifs. This can be interpreted as steps towards bold assertive statements and even baroque ornamentation. (Thorp, p. 85) There are multiple dragons inscribed on the image, a feature shared with the Dou Vessel. The use of animals signifies an understanding of the animal form as well as infusing life and excitement into the pieces. (Lee, p. 47) Both items also benefit from the implementation inlays. However, the inlay usage on the Zun vessel is black pigment. This is in stark contrast to the gold pigment inlay used in the Dou Vessel. The gold inlay in the Dou vessel, which has a leaf like decoration, symbolizes a new design characteristic that was not popular during the creation of the Zun vessel. (Lee, p. 48) In addition to the distinctions in uses of inlay, the two objects also differ greatly in size, possibly a reflection of the cultural differences. The Zun vessel has features that almost double that of the Dou vessel in terms of diameter and height. Unlike the Dou vessel, which contains handles, the Zun vessels ring base design compels one to carry the object on a shoulder. (Thorp, p. 73) This could in part be because during the Shang period, many of these pieces like the Zun were used for cult rituals and activities. (Thorp, p. 61) Drinking was a significant facet of some of these Shang offerings, which also included offerings in
  • 9. The Physics of Archery Essay The Physics of Archery There are not many activities out there that relax and soothe me quite like shooting my bow. It is not as simple as it sounds though, just pulling on the string, releasing the string, and watching the arrow fly towards your target. There are a number of aspects that must be taken into consideration when trying to shoot a bow and arrow efficiently, this is where we will get into the physicsof archery. There are two main things to consider when looking at archery and the physics concepts behind it. First there is the bow, which basically is a device that uses human force over a distance and converts that into stored Mechanical Potential Energy. The second factor involves that stored Mechanical Energy being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The materials that construct the Recurve bow must be taken into consideration when looking at the force applied from the bow. The most popular material for traditional archers today would have to be a certain type of wood from the yew tree. The reason for this particular choice of wood is that it contains the highest elastic energy storage per unit mass for any type of wood, which is around 700 Jkg 1. Which is very close to having the same rating as spring steel. However with technology these days more people are leaning towards a type of carbon fiberglass laminate. This particular combination brings both a lighter weight than wood and a higher elasticity rating. The reason some wood bows are still around is due to the fact the old timer traditional type archers shun using any kind of technology or advancements to aid them in shooting their bows. The material of the strings also needs to be taken into consideration, this is so because the string mass needs to be kept as low as possible for obvious reasons with efficiency and speed of the bow. Another thing to be looked at would be the Draw Weight or Draw Force of the bow, which basically is how much weight or force is

There are many parallels between my life and Junot Diaz s life. We both came from low income families struggling for that pesky paycheck. We both lived in the rough parts of our neighborhoods where the recently moved in immigrants were victim to robberies and cons. • 11. The Future Of The American Economy The future of the American economy rests heavily on the millennial generation s shoulders. This generation (ages 16 36) is America s next work force, politicians, CEOs, parents, soldiers, writers, and teachers. But, does this generation possess the stamina, grit and patience upon which our ancestors depended so greatly? The millennial generation s demand for instant gratification implies that they are not capable of providing our nation with the stability it so desperately needs. Roberts summarizes this sentiment by saying, From top to bottom, we are becoming a society ruled by impulse, by the reflexive reach for quick rewards. We are becoming an Impulse Society. Roberts points out that our nations is being driven by desire, not need. This driving force is impacting even the youngest of our population. In her Ted Talk in 2012, Economist Silvia Barcellos discusses the results of an instant gratification test. The test involved giving young children each one marshmallow. They are told that if they do not eat the marshmallow for 15 minutes they will receive another; if they eat the original marshmallow before that time, they will not receive another. The results showed that two out of every three children ate the marshmallow before the 15 minutes were completed. The temptation to eat the marshmallow and experience immediate gratification was simply too great. Silvia explains, People tend to choose the things that give them instant pleasure over long term benefits (TED TALK

Well, to put into perspective, the Jacobean era was best known for the literary and visual arts, which was ruled by James I of England. Comparing it to Elizabethan art, it was heavily influenced by the European Renaissanceideals. But most importantly, the art that was composed around this time, was immensely based around Queen Elizabeth s liking. Findings Types of Cost Drivers for The Hershey s Company: The different types of cost drivers that are associated with The Hershey s company can be listed as below: A.Structural Cost Drivers: It is more related to the selection of the location of plant, technology to be used, and office layouts. The company must have a lot of research on these things because these decisions are very crucial for the cost management and effectiveness of the operation that the company conducts. So the management has to be very careful about these long term decisions in order to save their large amount of dollar to their company. B.Organizational Cost Drivers: Generally these costs occur after the structural costs. They are related to the reorganizing of office equipment, working with a limited number of suppliers, providing the information of cost to its employees and giving them the authority to make decisions. These decisions have a moderate level of difficulty to change. C.Activity Based Cost Drivers: Generally, every activity that a company does has costs. So all the activities like placing an order for its production, inspection of the raw materials, hiring of employees, training for the new employees, packaging of the products, shipment of the products, advertisements etc. Identification of different costs: Different types of costs for The Hershey s company can be as following: 1.Variable Costs: These are the cost that varies

The Art of Negotiation Assignment 1: The Art of Negotiation Kelley Verenysee Gunn Dr. Deborah Hill Strayer University BUS 526 January 27, 2014 Abstract This paper will discuss the art of negotiation. The focus will be on the UPS Strike Negotiation of 1997 between UPS and the Teamsters. The negotiation will be briefly described. The issues and interests of the involved parties will be discussed. Ethical behaviors will be analyzed. Proposals for distributive and integrative negotiations are developed for the conflict between the parties involved. 1. Briefly describe the selected negotiation. The mobilization of the union s members to shut down the company s operation was the basic weapon which won the strike for the Teamsters. 4. Determine the Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement(BATNA) and Worst Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement (WATNA) for each side of the negotiation. At the start of the strike, the BATNA for UPS was to offer to advance 10,000 part time workers into full time jobs only after other full timers retired or quit. They also stated they would only agree to create 1,000 new full time jobs. Their concessions for subcontracting were also included in their Best Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement. The Worst Alternative to a Negotiated Agreement for UPS was holding out and refusing to concede to the demands of the union causing the company to lose business and money. The BATNA for the union workers was creating full time jobs for part timers and reducing the hourly wage differential. The WATNA for the union was to be offered the full time positions only after the current full time workers retired. 5. Develop a proposal for a distributive negotiation strategy for this negotiation. The objective of a distributive negotiation is to achieve an efficient compromise by focusing on the distribution of outcomes as opposed to meeting the needs of the parties involved (Demarr, de Janasz, 2013). Distributive negotiations are often adversarial in nature. UPS offering the

The Macroeconomic Perspectives of David Ricardo, Karl Marx, and John Stuart Mill ECON 350 19 November 2012 Abstract The author surveys three influential economists of the Classical era Ricardo, Marx, and John Stuart Mill and introduces the reader to their Macroeconomic perspectives based on some of their more prominent Macroeconomic theories. David Ricardo David Ricardo was a Classical Economist who lived from 1772 to 1823. In his professional life he wore many hats: he was a businessman, a financer, a speculator, and a member of Parliament. But what he is most remembered for is the role that he played in the evolution of economic theory, alongside of such other greats as John Stuart Mill and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was actually quite a big deal during Ricardo s since Protectionist policies were hindering free trade, which Ricardo was a proponent of as can be seen from his Law of Comparative Advantage. One of Ricardo s first interactions in the economic dialogue of his time was based around the Quantity Theory of Money. At the time there was something going on in Britain that would come to be known as the Bullion Controversy . Basically, as a result of a potential war the British government temporarily suspended the obligation of the Bank of England to convert its notes into gold. During this time agricultural prices rose (which some people attributes to poor harvests) and gold prices went up. It is on this second point that Ricardo chimed in. Ricardo argued that the rise in gold prices was actually the result of inflation. According to him, since the bank wasn t obligated to exchange their notes for gold they were printing more notes than they had gold to back them. This flood of currency, Ricardo said, was creating an excess supply which was devaluing the currency and thus causing inflation (Laidler, p. 12). Karl Marx Karl Marx is probably best known for the work that he co authored with Fredrick Engels entitled The Communist Manifesto and also for his work entitled Capital. He is also arguably one of the most well known of the Classical Economists, or of any

The Pardoner was born sterile, which resulted in abnormal physical development. He blames God for his deformities and attempts to attack God by attacking the link between God and mankind the Church. In The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer indirectly depicts the characters through the stories they tell. The tale is a window upon the person that tells it. However, the Pardoner does not practice what he preaches. His vocation, which involves selling false pardons and relics for a profit, is a contradiction to his theme. And thus I preach against the very vice/ I make my living out of avarice (243). The Pardoner continues with his tale and condemns gluttony, drinking, gambling, and swearing, but then declares that he is guilty of each one. It is evident that the Pardoner is a hypocrite and that he has no intention of changing. In the tale, three young rioters discover that a good friend has died and they mistakenly believe he was killed by a man named Death. They pledge that they will find Death and avenge their friend. As they embark on their quest, they pass by an old man and criticize his age. They inquire about Death, and the old man mentions that he left Death by a tree. The rioters proceed to the tree, but find a pile of gold florins rather than Death. Ultimately, the three young men kill each other in a vain attempt to increase their personal share of the gold. Thus, the young men set out to find Death and they succeeded in their search. Their greed was the cause of their demise. The Pardoner is analogous to the rioters because

It is an essential part of life, and without blood, we could not live. In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood to represent treachery, murder and death. The word blood , or different forms of it, appear numerous times throughout the play. Interestingly, the symbol of blood changes throughout the play, corresponding to the atmosphere and mood changes in the characters and the play. First, blood is a reference of honor, and this occurs when Duncan sees the injured sergeant and says, What bloody man is that? (1.2.1). This is symbolic of the brave fighter who been injured in a valiant battle for Scotland. The sergeant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lady Macbeth starts this off when she asks the spirits to make thick [her] blood (1.5.50). What she is saying by this, is that she wants to make herself insensitive and remorseless for the deed she is hoping to commit. However, she forces Macbeth to do the deed. Right before killing Duncan, Macbeth sees a dagger floating in the air leading him to Duncan?s room and he sees on the blade and dudgeon gouts of blood (2.1.58), indicating that the knife has been viciously stabbed into someone. This is a Lady Macbeth knows that the evidence of blood is a treacherous symbol, and knows it will deflect the guilt from her and Macbeth to the servants when she says If he do bleed, I?ll gild the faces of the grooms withal, for it must seem their guilt (2.2.71 73). First Macbeth hints at his guilt when he says Will all great Neptune?s ocean wash this blood clean from my hand? Nuclear Weapons Of Mass Destruction Karla Ximena Leyte Though Paper #3 Weapons of mass destruction and their ability to challenge security and create large scale obliteration have become the most significant threat in international politics, causing vast concern of the consequences that may arise if they were to emerge in the hands of dangerous non state actors. Chemical, nuclear, and biological weapons not only possess the ability to end the life of many but also pose negative effects on the environment and global economy. While their ability to wipe out a mass of civilians causes terror throughout the world, the major concern in regards to WMD is the possibility of their landing in the hands of treacherous terrorist groups. This fear expanded in 2001 after the terrorist use of anthrax in the United Sate s postal services (Reed). Although all nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons acquire the ability to terrorize a civilization, nuclear weapons pose the deadliest threat. Chemical weapons seize the ability to wipe out thousands of lives with effective gas attacks while biological threats influence the spread of deadly diseases. What makes these two forms of WMD less severe than nuclear weapons is that protective clothing and gear can be worn to avert lethal gas and it is difficult for a pandemic disease to become large scale in today s era (Macfarlane). The United States should focus its concern on nuclear weapons and the fatal threat they pose not only on human life but also on infrastructure. Arming an

I will also choose one modern day hero to come pare my ancient hero to and tell you where he from either a movie or a comic book. Beowulf is my ancient hero. I chose Beowulf because of all the qualities he has. Beowulf is the hero of all heroes he is strong, and courageous. He would risk his own life to save other people life s. He never back down to any person or thing and has never run any from a fight. He throws his self at danger to try to get rid of evil and look for people to help. In this day of age, I don t think he would be a good hero for a few reasons. Reason number one I think he is really too arrogant to throw his self at ever one problem thinking he is going to fix it. I personally think a hero should be asking them if they want your help before they make it worst. Or they can wait till they see someone in danger then throw yourself in the middle. Reason two I think he s arrogant will be the death of him because he think so mighty of his self. He will think he is unstoppable and that s where his demise will come from. Reason three he not that smart he more like a jock most heroes are usually smart and clever Beowulf isn t if he meant an evenly match villain he cloud loss fairly easy from how choices he make . But, still, Herrick was overall more demanding than Marvell s. Even though both of the Cavalier poems were about having sex, Marvell s poem was more of a romance poem than Herrick s poem. Marvell wrote, Thy beauty shall no more be found, / Nor , in thy marble vault, shall sound/ My echoing says (Marvell, ln. 25 27). Marvell was saying that beauty will no longer be there one day. One general method that is used to asses toxicity of pesticides before released for sale is the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50) method. This method is conducted by calculating the most accurate dose of toxin that will kill animals 50% of the time. Table 1.2 shows one of the greatest errors possibly in this experiment. The average weight lies at a range of 0.106g which speaking on the insect level is quite a significant number here. The method of weighing out the cockroaches was extremely inaccurate and in order to achieve an accurate LD50 an accurate weight is required as stated earlier. Also not all cockroaches were exactly 2cm in length as suggested by the method hence some cockroaches had a higher resistance to propoxur due to greater weight and size which meant consistency was not at all achieved. Another reason why results may have varied from group to group could be due to miscalculations and human error while performing dilutions. Dilutions is a very important part of the experiment and if there was an error in one simple dilution then it could have carried on from tube to tube having detrimental effects on the concentrations of the solution being created. Also application of the solution to the cockroaches was not an easy task, the cockroaches were able to move around and escape from containment prosing an extremely large problem because if the cockroach were to escape and become lost, the entire average weight would have to be changed. Preventing this setback happened to cause another dilemma, to slow down the cockroaches and comatose them freezing was applied. However if the

Sure, you could still share files back then, but this required the physical act of getting the disk, transferring it to your computer, and then copying the file. All this took a relatively large amount of effort compared to the copy and paste methods of copying files today. After a while around 1995, a small underground network of file sharing developed through the use of a medium known as mIRC. m IRC is basically the early version of today s chat rooms with the exception that most users identities can be kept hidden from one another while still allowing the users to exchange information freely. Her choice came with the consequences of her parents and sister not communicating with her again if she chooses to stay in the US. Her grandma would still communicate about the family until she passes away in a later chapter. Another example of why this is my favorite is because I can relate to tons of it. My dad no longer talks to me due to me moving out at too young of an age. I moved to the city to be closer to work and school but in his eyes I was sinning. • 38. A Compare And Contrast Fats Research Paper Compare and Contrast Fats Generally, the word shortening means any group of solid fats. Shortenings generally consist of nearly 100 percent fat. It may be made from vegetable oils, animal fats, or both. Shortenings are used for may purposes, so manufacturers have formulated various kinds of fats with various properties. (Gisslen, 2013) All Purpose Shortening Also known as regular shortening, have a tough, waxy texture, and small particles of the fat tend to hold their shape in a dough or batter. They are called plastic shortenings, which means they are moldable at room temperature. They have a good creaming ability. Which means that a good quantity of air can be mixed into them to give a batter lightness and leavening power. This type of shortening melts only at a high temperature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are also used in many other pastries, breads, and products mixed by creaming, such as certain pound cakes, cookies, and quick breads. High Ratio Shortening These are soft shortenings that spread easily throughout a batter and quickly coat the particles of sugar and flour. The are call high ratio because they were devised for use in cake batter that contain a high ratio of sugar and liquid to flour. They also contain added emulsifying agents, so they can hold a larger quantity of liquid and sugar than regular shortenings. Which gives a smoother and finer texture to cake and make them moister. Commonly referred to as emulsifying shortening. High ratio shortening does not cream well. When a recipe calls for creaming shortening and sugar, regular shortening should be used. High ratio shortening is often used in icings because it can hold more sugar and liquid without curdling. It is more temperature stable and will hold air better upon whipping, improving volume and stability.

  • 41. The Earliest Application Of Data Communication The earliest application of data communication in video games came from multiplayer gaming. Originally, and even in some instances today, the term multiplayer in games meant that players were in the same room sharing a physical console. Two of the earliest examples of this were in 1972 the game Pong and MIT SpaceWar on the Atari, which featured two joysticks to play the games (White, 2009). A few years later, as technology continued advancing, the term multiplayer developed different meanings. As Roy Trubshaw stated: (1980) MUD was originally little more than a series of interconnected locations where you could move and chat (Indvik, 2012). By the early 80s MUDs had approximately 1000 users, primarily in the U.K and U.S. This early system set the foundation for multiplayer gaming. After the introduction of various MUDs, the idea of gaming over a network began to really catch on by the middle 1980s. In 1985 owners of the board game Dungeons and Dragons began licensing the game to software developers. The company wanted to take advantage of the adoption of personal computers in the home, such as Macintosh, and provide a digital medium for their game. Thirteen games were developed in all and were connected through a PPP system. Each game required extensive instruction manuals to use, some as long as twenty eight pages (Indvik, 2012). As sort of a payoff for the complexity, these games were more advanced than the previous generation of MUDs. Most provided two dimensional interfaces and characters and were the first of their kind. Meanwhile in 1987, Atari developed its own gaming system named the Atari ST. These consoles could be connected to one another on a network known as MIDI. The MIDI architecture was a simple iteration of the Dungeons and Dragons system. Players could connect to one another and form a MIDI ring that connected one another s computer. The symbolic order is the social world of linguistic communication, intersubjective relations, knowledge of ideological conventions, and the acceptance of the law. Once the subject enters into language and accepts the rules and dictates of society, it is able to deal with others. The acceptance of language s rules is aligned with the Oedipus complex, according to Lacan. The symbolic is made possible because of your acceptance of the Name of the Father (the fundamental signifier which permits signification to proceed normally), those laws and restrictions that control both your desire and the rules of communication (Evans 121). Through recognition of the Name of the Father, one is able to enter into a community of others. The symbolic, through language, is the pact which links... subjects together in one action. The human action par excellence is originally founded on the existence of the world of the symbol, namely on laws and contracts (Lacan 230). The symbolic represents a further remove from the mother. • 45. The Election Process Of The Electoral College In November, many Americans will trek to their designated polling place to cast their vote for the next President of the United States. The U.S. government loves to preach that every vote matters, and that citizens should not take that responsibility lightly. During the presidential election cycle, states hold an open election in which all eligible citizens can participate. Citizens have the ability to vote for a distinct ticket , which consists of candidates for Vice President and President. Most Americans are relatively aware of this step in the voting process. What happens after this stage, though, is not as well tacit. It is at this point in the election process that the Electoral Collegebegins to take effect. The Electoral College is used in the same manner for 48 states; with the exception of Maine and Nebraska. After each of the votes in these 48 states are tallied and counted, the major political party with a candidate who won the majority vote in any of those states is sanctioned to choose a panel of individuals who will cast the state s real vote for President. The Electoral College comprises of these 538 electors. The number of electoral votes for a state is not solely based on population, they are allocated based on their representation in Congress. This means each state is given a minimum of 3 electoral votes (at least 1 representative and 2 senators) regardless of the population size in the state. American citizens cast their vote for President in November,

Some of these elements include, but are not limited to, a character s costume and makeup, lighting, camera direction, acting, special effects, and, sound effects and music. In some films one element may be the overriding factor but when put together, these elements work together to please an audience. Each element on its own, has an important role it plays in the creation of a film or movie. In Misery, for example, the choice of music composition used for major scenes in the movie helps to build on the plot, suspense and rising action, on many other scenes, the fast paced music led to nail biting and hair pulling moments. Difference Between Cricket And Cricket Baseball vs Cricket To many people think baseball and cricket are very similar, but the rules of hitting, fielding, and running are completely different. They bother having someone hitting the ball and throwing, but the traditions of the sports are what separate them completely. The two sports are argued which one is the greatest of all time. Baseball is more common in America then Cricket. Baseball is known as the pastime of American. It began in the late 1800 s and is very popular today. There are many different types of baseball played all over. They go from tee ball to Major league baseball. Kids basically grew up playing this sport in American. Hitting in baseball starts when the pitcher toes the rubber. The pitcher throws the ball however he wants, as long as he does not deceive a runner that is on base with his motion toward home plate. The hitter uses a round bat to hit the round ball squarely. The batter can hit the ball wherever he wants or can. For the batter to be called safe he has to reach first before the ball reaches first before he does. Each person who touches home is considered one run. The hitter can hit the ball and stop at first base to get a single, stop at second for a double, third for a triple, or home for a home run. A hitter can also get a home run by hitting the ball over the fence. That is the ways a hitter can score in baseball. Fielding is completely different in baseball then cricket. There are 9 fielders on the field at once.

The philosophical positions which popper advanced included a twin edged liberalism , in the sense of peacefully tolerating the proponents of closed societies in free societies, as long as they stuck to verbal arguments only, and social engineering by a piecemeal or (gradual) approach to social reforms.
