2. Before entering the production stage of my music video I had already used multiple online platforms
to research and prepare for the filming stage. I went online to access streaming platforms such as
YouTube and Vimeo to watch various music videos especially form the indie pop genre of music. This
was mainly to view the conventions and purpose of music videos so I could gain a rough
understanding of narrative type, mise-en-scene, camera techniques and editing I could perhaps use in
my music video. Watching these videos also allowed for my own ideas and inspirations to grow.
Throughout the process of my
researching, planning and
production I kept a blog using
the online GOOGLE BLOGGER
where one can make a blog for
free and post to it however
much they want to keep up the
process of creating my product.

3. Shooting my music video
The filming of my music video took place in two separate locations at different stages of my
production. The first filming day took place in Italy in October half term, where I used my
mums IPHONE X which is the latest version of the iPhone with the best camera on it as I did not
have a professional camera at the time to use. This didn’t actually end up mattering because I
found the quality of the footage I got perfectly suitable to use in my video.
The second day of filming for my music video took place in Kenya, where I did actually have a
professional camera to use (The cannon 7D) which I had to practise using a bit before as I found
it quite hard to keep the subject in focus consistently throughout filming, however after a while
l I did get used to it and the footage from this shoot turned out in very high quality. One thing
that might have made my production better would have been the use of a tripod or gimbal to
ensure there were some stationary shots that were actual stationary instead of hand held,
however Id di not have one of these to use on holiday. I instead used the balance stabiliser tool
in Premier pro when it came to editing my video for any parts I thought looked a bit shaky.
After shooting both my parts for my music video I made sure to sit down
and back up all the footage onto my laptop in case something was to
happen to the phone or camera memory card.
When I got back to school I could access the editing software called Adobe
Premier Pro where I used a hard drive to import all the footage from my
laptop onto the school computers, choosing the best shots to import onto
the chosen editing software.

4. Editing my music video
The first thing I did was go on Souncloud online to find the Roxy’s song and then use an MP3
converter to convert the song to a file to then put on Premier Pro.
My first mission after importing the footage onto premier Pro was to put all the clips in order
ensuring as many shots as possible had Roxy singing in sync to the audio. I aimed to cut on the
beat on movement to make sure the visuals matched the rhythm of the audio. Once all the
footage was put in order I started the most interesting part of the post production process,
adding effects. I learnt how to use some effects on YouTube such as the walk by text reveal
effect in premier pro which I used in my video for when the text for the title appears on screen
and Roxy’s hand goes over it instead of the text going over her. It is small details like this that
make my video look extra professional. I used a black and white filter for some parts of my
music video to create contrast when there is a change in the music, as well as a chrome
transition effect used when changing from colour to black and white. Split screen effects were
used a few times to create diversity and highlight some parts of the video when they appear
on screen more than once in smaller screens, as well as using fade in, fade out effects when
the video starts and finishes.

5. Editing and creating my digipack
I carried out three photo-shoots with my artist that I could use images from either for my website or didi
pack. I again used the Cannon 7D camera for the shoots, firstly watching a few videos on YouTube to help
me know what settings to use on the camera when taking photos. I also researched other existing
album covers and backsfor inspiration and conventions.
For creating each component of my didgipack I used Photoshop and then put them into the InDesign
software where I had downloaded a Digi pack template from online to use to get all the proportions
right when fitting them together and to again to create a realistic media product. To find interesting
appealing fonts I used Dafont.com, where I downloaded fonts to my computer which I could use on
InDesign and Photoshop.

6. Editing and creating my website
For the website I decided to use wix.com, a cloud based web development
platform. It allows users to create HTML5 websites and mobile sites through the
use of online drag and drop tools. I was able to choose from over 100 templates, I
filled space by adding images of Roxy and background images from the location of
where I shot my video. I aimed to create synergy in my website using similar
colours and fonts. I used Photoshop to edit an existing track list from the wix
website to represent my artist’s songs. I uploaded my music video to YouTube to
then add a link to it on my website. I used photos from my iPhone and some from
the canon 7D camera to add to the gallery section of my website.
