wound bed which acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and
Claxton, 2006). The presence of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including
sepsis and delayed healing. Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non
healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or
contaminated tissue within or adjacent to wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith,
2002).According to International Diabetic Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized
tissue is paramount for effective wound care of DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular
debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce burden in order to expedite wound healing.

reading, writing, math, science, and art. Inclusive in the content are the social emotional skills:
patience, sharing, focus, emotional vocabulary, standing up for others, using words instead of
violence, exploration, and the value of creativity. Collaborative teaching is a critical tool for
balancing efficacious direct instruction and observation/assessment. By choosing to team teach I
have provided myself with supports that make time for meaningful student teacher interactions and
encourage daily reflection of student growth. Effectively, my students are impoverished of

of the factors that influence lipid and lipoprotein concentration unfavorably (ie. smoking, obesity, a
high fat and low fiber diet consumption) can contribute to the development of colon canceras well.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between low HDL blood levels and
colonic cancer.
Methods:
A retrospective case control study was conducted. A chart review was performed on the charts of
183 patients who were diagnosed with colonic adenoma or carcinoma after having colonoscopy
/sigmoidoscopy done in our hospital from 1/1/09 till 12/31/10. Information regarding
demographics, HDL level, endoscopy and biopsy findings, site of the lesion and the period
between endoscopy and the closest HDL measurement we have in our records.
Results:
Our study population included 183 patients (66 males and 116 females). 86 patients had
adenomas while 96 patients were diagnosed with CRC. The mean age was 61.1+/ 11 years and 80
+/ 12.2 years for adenoma group and carcinoma group

When I first saw the book I was not sure what it was going to be about, although I did think that
Skellig was possibly an alien or creature. I had heard positive comments about the book so I was
looking forward to reading it.

I liked David Almond s choice of characters. Skellig is a character that is not often found in
children s literature, he is gentle, yet spooky and human/non human. Michael the main character
grows into a stronger person by the end of the story, we watch him grow. I liked Mina as she is a
strong minded character who has certain beliefs which are explored in the story.
The narrative voice of this story is in the first person of Michael so we are automatically asked to
emphasise with him. I really liked the phrase `he laughed but did not smile . This phase was often
said throughout referring to Skellig. I thought the language used was effective however there was
swearing in the book which may not be appropriate to children and I thought it was irrelevant.
The passages that have stayed in my mind most vividly are chapter twenty where Michael takes
Mina to see Skellig and chapter thirty nine when Michael s mom described the dream she had had.
I was most touched by chapter twenty eight when Michael could not feel the heart beat, I thought
the baby had died and was relieved to find she had not.
I did not really dislike any part of this book but I did not like the pain the family had to go through
because of the baby s illness.
This book is the kind of book which gives you a lot of questions, but answers are hard to find.

which provided yarn faster. Edmund Cartwright, who invented the power loom, combined the
machine s characteristics and purposes into one machine in 1800. Cleaning cotton was also a
tedious and time consuming job, so in 1793, Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin, which could
clean cotton 50 times faster than the previous outdated methods. Many people would actually walk
around in filthy garments all of their lives but because of the new inventions they could afford to

silently of all distractions in solitude and focus only on God. Summarise your original
understanding of the discipline before the course started Prior to this course and even prior to
becoming a Christian seven years ago, I would use solitude as a form of escaping from where I
didn t want to be in life. Especially as a child and teenager living in an environment of verbal
abuse and violence whist watching the effects of an alcoholic parent slowly destroy my respect
for who they were. Solitude and silence was my revenge and in someway my shelter. I believe
this solitude prior to my Christianity was a tool I used to make me harder . It allowed me to shut
off emotions, empathy towards those I resented and survive in that world. In hindsight, Solitude
back then in my life, probably made me more non Christian. A Significant Christian figure in
history who has contributed to this discipline Dr Van Shore lecturer of Alpacrucis College, states:
