Costus igneus, also known as the insulin plant, has leaves that are used as a dietary supplement to treat type 2 diabetes. The leaves contain corosolic acid, which helps regulate blood sugar levels by promoting insulin production and the transport of glucose into cells. Several studies on animal models of diabetes found that extracts of C. igneus leaves reduced blood glucose and increased insulin levels. While conventional diabetes medications have side effects, C. igneus appears to be a safer alternative based on traditional use and preliminary research. Further clinical trials are still needed to fully validate its anti-diabetic effects.

MEDICINAL PLANTS AS A POTENTIAL SOURCE FOR TREATMENT OF DIABETES MELLITUSJing Zang
Diabetes mellitus is a common and serious metabolic disorder throughout the world. Traditional plant treatments have been used throughout the world for the therapy of diabetes mellitus. History showed that folk medicinal plants uses have been used to treat diabetes; this is because such herbal plants have hypoglycemic properties and other beneficial properties. The article shows a listing of medicinal plants used in phytotherapy of diabetes and those experimentally studied as hypoglycemic. The effects of these plants may delay the development of diabetic complications.
This is mainly made in the topic of Ashwagandha Antidiabetic effects....This is my final year project Power point slides presentation of 8th semester in bachelor of pharmaceutical technology....
I reffer this topic because there are various medicinal herbs which are showing hypoglycemic effect.. But withaferin is one of the most potent chemical constituent.. Not only hypoglycemic action it also having antimicrobial and antineoplastic/anticancer activity. So now a days withaferin is most choisable research interest in modern phytochemical study.

Anti-Diabetic Activity of Some Medicinal Plants IIJSRJournal
Diabetes mellitus is generally a chronic disease which is a main reason for deaths in whole world. It is not easy to control the delayed complication of diabetes even with progress in the medical management of the syndrome. The disease is spreading day by day. The main trait element of diabetes is hyperglycemia, which reflects the drop in the use of glucose due to a poor reaction to insulin discharge. There are many plants are used to cure diabetes because of the antidiabetic action. Hypoglycemic and anti-hyperglycemic actions have been saved with abundant plants, a lot of which are worn as an established herbal treatment of diabetes. A huge number of substances are obtained from plants that suggest antidiabetic potential, while others may affect hypoglycemia as a bad result due to their toxicity, mainly their hepatotoxicity. This review shows the importance of plants and the action of some plants to act against diabetes that is used as a natural medicine for this disease.
Diabetes mellitus is among the most common disorder in developed and
developing countries, and the disease is increasing rapidly in most parts
of the world. It has been estimated that up to one-third of patients with
diabetes mellitus use some form of complementary and alternative
medicine. Alstonia scholaris is a plant of family Apocynaceae and has a
great medicinal importance. It is widely used by tribal people to treat
various diseases and ailments. The present communication deals with
the organoleptic and preliminary physico-phytochemical studies of the
stem bark of the plant. The organoleptic study was done according to
the W.H.O. guidelines for medicinal plants. Alstonia scholaris is a plant
that has been used in popular medicine for the treatment of the diabetes.
It is native to the Indian subcontinent, Indomalaya, Malaysia, and
Australasia. This has been investigated based on amerolative properties
of bioactive compounds of Alstonia scholaris stem bark extract up on
alloxan induced diabetic rats. The blood glucose levels were increased
significantly. Ethanolic stem bark extract of A. scholaris was given to
the diabetic rats in daily dose of 450mg/ kg of body weight (21 days). In
diabetic rats of blood glucose levels decreased highly significant
(p<0.005). The reduction in blood glucose can be used as a marker in
the evaluating the severity of diabetes.
Insulin plant is a relatively new entrant to Kerala and India. Insulin plant has not got a Malayalam name yet, except the occasional use of insulin chedy or insulin chedi, where chedy means a plant. The catchphrase of this plant is a leaf a day keeps diabetes away. The plant is characterized by large fleshy looking leaves. It grows very quickly. Propagation is by stem cutting. It grows in slightly shady areas.Diabetes patients are advised to chew down a leaf in the morning and one in the evening for a month. Allopathic doctors too recommend it and it is found to be effective in bringing blood sugar levels under completely under control. There is also dried and ground powder of the leaves now available in the market.
* With FBS below 200, take ONE leaf daily before breakfast and drink a glass of water
* With FBS above 200, take TWO leaves in the morning and TWO at night on a daily basis.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

3. DIABETES MELLITUS
It is a chronic disease associated with abnormally high levels of the sugar
glucose in the blood.
It is caused by inherited and/or acquired deficiency in production of
insulin by the pancreas.
It is of three types:
Type 1 DM: insulin-dependent
Type 2 DM : non-insulin-dependent
Gestational DM: hyper glycemic with blood glucose occurring
during pregnancy
4. Diabetes in India
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research-Indian Diabetes
study (ICMR-INDIAB), a national diabetes study, India currently has 63
million people with diabetes.
India represents the world’s second largest diabetes population after
China.
This is set to increase to over 100 million by 2030.
The majority of people with diabetes (>90%) have Type 2 diabetes
(T2DM)
