2. Mise en scene:
The mise en scene in the film opening is in a modern day
house it is indoors and is really dull, grey and simple.
This mise en scene portrays to the audience the
representation of this character. I find the mise en
scene shows and makes the audience feel a glum
mood and atmosphere.
Opening:
In the opening we have a establishing shot of the character
in black and white to show importance and that he is
the main character. We are constantly see this
character alone and the camera movement is always a
still shot just watching over him.
Sound:
The sound in the opening is first a voiceover when we have
the close up of the character the sound helps establish
the location as the characters accent is somewhere in
England. When we have a shot of the view of the city
we have a light crescendo into up beat music.

3. Narrative:
The narrative is not shown as much in the opening but has
created enigma for the audience. We have enigma such as
why is there a boy on the floor frustrated? Why is he always
alone? Who is he?. The audience is left with the boy
walking alone with not much portrayal of the narrative.
Setting and location:
We know that the setting is in a room in the beginning of the
opening which is shown in black and white which connotes
old and depressing which is portrayed well to the audience.
The location is then established when we have a subtitle
telling us the location in England. Also we can see it is
urban area as there is a apartment block where the boy is
walking.
Representation of the character:
The representation of this character is shown as quiet
depressing because he is alone and also in the beginning of
the opening we are shown him sitting on the floor looking
upset this shot of him shows he is weak and vulnerable.
