Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
Repeated colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
The images that I have collected for my mood board have a lot of repetition. For example the
most obvious one is the fact that every image is black and white this is because my idea for the
FMP is to create a black and white silent film. Some images include Oscar Wilde as he is most
famous for his comedic silent movies. A lot of the images set a sort of dark mood as many of
them are horror films, more specifically they are German expressionist films which tend to be in
black and white and have a scarier theme to them.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
I think my mood board will influence my final product a lot. This is because I have already set out
on what I want to create in the past, so by taking all these images and laying them out I can get a
better understanding of different methods used to create the perfect silent film.
7. Influence/Inspiration
Joe Rogan is an American comedian, podcast host, actor, and television host. He was born on
August 11, 1967, in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in San Francisco, California.
Rogan began his career as a stand-up comedian in the late 1980s and early 1990s, and later
became the host of the television show "Fear Factor" from 2001 to 2006. He is perhaps best
known for his hugely popular podcast, "The Joe Rogan Experience," which he has been hosting
since 2009. The podcast covers a wide range of topics, including comedy, current events, science,
technology, health, and philosophy, and has featured a diverse array of guests from various fields.
In addition to his work as a comedian and podcast host, Rogan has also appeared in several films
and television shows, including "NewsRadio," "The Man Show," "Entourage," and "Here
Comes the Boom." He is also an accomplished martial artist, having trained in Brazilian jiu-jitsu
and taekwondo, and has been a commentator for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
since 1997.
Rogan is known for his outspoken and controversial opinions on a variety of topics, and his
podcast has been both praised for its open-mindedness and criticized for its occasional promotion
of fringe or conspiracy theories.

8. Joe Rogan/ The Joe Rogan Experience
Joe Rogan has been criticised as to which guests he chooses to invite onto his podcast, I have
created a list of the top 5 most controversial guests who have appeared on the joe Rogan
experience.
1.Alex Jones
(Known for his disturbing and ridiculous conspiracy theories.)
2. Jordan Peterson
(Peterson believes that order is masculine and chaos is feminine, and these qualities are
inherent to human existence.)
3. Elon musk
(Not so much Musk’s views however he received lots of backlash for smoking weed on the
podcast.)
4. Edward Snowden
(Responsible for handing over material from one of the most secret organisations, The NSA.)
5. Candace Owens
(Owens mentioned that climate change wasn't as big of an issue as it's been made out to be. She
asserted disbelief at climate change because of how politicized it has become.)
9. Influence/Inspiration
Dr Jordan Peterson
• Jordan Peterson is a Canadian clinical psychologist, cultural critic, and professor
of psychology at the University of Toronto. He gained international recognition in
the late 2010s for his lectures, interviews, and bestselling books, which often touch
on topics related to psychology, philosophy, politics, and cultural issues.
• Peterson first rose to prominence for his critiques of political correctness and his
defence of free speech. He became a controversial figure in some circles for his
views on gender, particularly his opposition to government-mandated use of
gender-neutral pronouns. He has been both praised and criticized for his ideas,
with some people seeing him as a champion of free expression and others as
promoting regressive ideas.
• In addition to his academic work, Peterson has authored several books, including
"12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos" and "Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for
Life," which offer advice on personal development, ethics, and living a meaningful
life. His work has been influential to many people seeking to better understand
themselves and the world around them.
10. Influence/Inspiration
Jordan Peterson
I am not necessarily focusing this influence on the podcast side it is more about the
beliefs and views Jordan Peterson voices. Seen as though my podcast is going to be
about some controversial topics I feel it is best to research people like Peterson so I
can get a better understanding as to why people like him have these views. Jordan
Peterson actually does have a podcast where he discusses many different problems
with the world however at this time I haven’t listened to much of it.
Individualism: Peterson emphasizes the
importance of individual responsibility,
self-improvement, and personal agency.
He believes that individuals should strive
to improve themselves and take
responsibility for their own lives.
Traditionalism: Peterson is critical of many
aspects of contemporary culture and
values, arguing that traditional values and
structures are important for maintaining
social stability and individual well-being.
11. Why are you making this project?
• I am creating this project as I am very much a fan of podcasts, more
importantly ones that talk about controversial topics like politics,
conspiracy theories etc. I feel making this project will broaden my mind
about how other people view things compared to me and attempt to get
to the bottom of why they have these controversial views. Aswell as to
broaden my mind I want to create something that people will enjoy
listening to and hopefully people will learn things from it and that is
something I want to happen in the outcome of this project.
12. Hopes for the FMP
• My hopes for this FMP is that I will create a piece that will at least
achieve a merit grade as I will be very happy with that grade. I also want
to create a podcast that is enjoyable to listen to however based on the
topic I have chosen I need to be very careful with what I create as it Is a
sensitive topic and some people may be upset or become offended so I
have to bare that in mind when creating this podcast. I also would like to
carry on creating podcast episodes after the FMP project as it is
something that interest me massively, it may not be about topics which
are serious but instead more of a comedic show and having a laugh.
13. Strengths and Limitations
Strengths
• A strength of mine I would say is being able to use many of the software's
on the computer to edit pieces of footage so that it looks very good and
more professional, this will help in the creation of my FMP as I want my
work to look better than anything else I have achieved so that It gets a good
grade when it comes to handing it in.
• Another strength that I believe I have is the ability to communicate and
discuss points that are relevant to a topic that I am given. So as this podcast
I am creating is going to be talking about controversial topic I believe this
strength will come in use as you need to have good communicative skills to
argue points that you might not agree with and have the ability to get your
opinion heard as well. This strength will help in the production side as I have
already mention it is helpful if you are able to discuss sensitive topics and
that you can argue points you don’t agree with.
• Aswell as these two other strengths I think something else I feel I am strong
in is researching other similar products and seeing how these things are
created and what bits make it look so good and then from that I can use it
when it comes to my own production to create a piece of work that has
elements that make it the best production piece. Taking ideas from other
great pieces of work is one of the things I believe will help me create a final
piece that will have a good grade in the end.
14. Strengths and limitations
Limitations
• The biggest limitation I think that I will come across when creating this
project is the idea that certain topics I am hoping to discuss wont be able
to be put in as some people may find offense or become upset about
anything that could be said in the podcast, this factor will definitely affect
the production side as I will need to be careful about what is said and
careful about what topics we are discussing.
• Another limitation when it comes to this project is trying to get a guest to
appear on the podcast. The reason this is a limitation is because not all
people in England have controversial views where it makes a podcast
interesting plus it will be hard to find someone in this country and pay for
their travel, the majority of controversial figures come from the USA so
this will be something I need to think about when it comes to the time of
recording the podcast.
• I would say there are many limitations when it comes to creating a
podcast infact to many to write out, however one limitation for me
personally will be the ability to create the highest quality podcast ever.
Realistically it isn’t going to be on the same page as podcasts like the joe
rogan experience, the pin pin podcast etc. as I do not have all of the
equipment they use and the high tech gear they have to create such high
quality podcasts.
15. Potential Research Activities
• Some potential research activities I might look at when it comes to the
research PowerPoint is looking at different websites about podcast statistics
and seeing which podcast genres are the most popular in either the UK or the
USA, and also which podcasts are the most listened to monthly. Another
research activity I will be looking at is different topics I want to talk about when
it comes to making the podcast, I have a few ideas in mind already but I
wouldn’t mind looking at other topics that I am interested in and feel
passionate about talking about.
