The document describes the steps taken to create a contents page in InDesign. First, the number of pages needed were added and a text box with "Contents" was inserted and formatted. Then a rectangle frame was used to insert a picture taking up half the page. Additional pictures were added by fitting them within rectangle frames. Text boxes were then used to list magazine sections next to corresponding page numbers and colors were adjusted to make important items stand out. Contact details and page numbers were also included before completing the contents page.

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. To start off with, I opened up InDesign and added the amount of pages I needed.
3. I then added in a text box which I wrote ‘Contents’ in. When doing this I also
changed the font and the size of it.
4. I then used the rectangle frame tool which I put at the bottom of my page taking
just about half of the page. This was where I was going to insert a picture.
5. I then added the picture making sure it fit and making sure the quality was good
enough so that it wouldn’t blur. After doing that I used the rectangle frame tool to
put on my page where I was going to add another picture.
6. I added in the picture I needed to making sure it fit and was a good quality.
7. After adding in the pictures, I put some text boxes on my page and added in the
things that were going to be in the magazine with the page numbers and I added
text which linked to the picture. I changed the size of each text and the colours for
things that were more important which was going to stand out.
8. I added in other little details like the page number of the picture, the page
number of the contents page and the contact details. After doing this I was done
with my contents page.
