The document summarizes the steps taken to create a double page magazine spread. The first step was importing the main image into InDesign. Next, a main heading, quote caption, and names were added to the image page. A short introduction to the article was also included. The article text was written in Microsoft Word and then copied into InDesign. Special formatting was applied to the first letter and text was arranged throughout the spread. Final touches like author name, website, and page number were added to complete the magazine spread.
2. The very first step I took was importing the main image from Photoshop to InDesign, onto the left hand
page, after I had been through the process of editing it on Photoshop. I did this so that I would have a rough
idea of what my double page spread would look like.
3. The next step was to add on the main heading for the article, I just used a simple font and colour for this because I didn't’t
want something too fussy, because my magazine style and theme is meant to be relaxed. I also added a quote on the photo as a
caption using the colour white so it stands out, at the bottom of the image I added names of people involved in the
article, which is something you find in articles. The little introduction to the article is short and snappy so the reader has an
idea of what the article is about. To complete all of these features I used the text tool.
4. I used Microsoft word to write the article for my magazines double page spread and then copied and pasted it
onto InDesign, I decided to do it like this so that I could check all the words are correct as well as keeping a
neat structure to my article.
5. This is after I wrote up the article/interview with Steph Byrane. I made the beginning letter to the article
bigger than the rest of the text so that it stood out, which is a professional touch to give my double page
spread. I did this by using the menu at the top of the screen.
6. Finally I added the finishing touches to my magazine, for example the ‘by name’ just beside the introduction
on the left hand hand side, so its hidden away but also noticable. Another thing was the website address and
the page number at the bottom, which is something every professional magazine should include. And lastly
at the top of the screen I added in the ‘V’ to represent my magazines logo and ‘Exclusive’ to give the
magazine subtle finishing touches to complete it.
