Career counselling is an effort for students’ to acquire knowledge about the
available career options as per their interest and stream of academics.
With career counselling, students would be able to know :
 Their aptitude and interests
 Strengths and weaknesses of a particular interest
 Make choice of stream for education after class 10
 Career options available in market as per their academic choices
 Career options available as per their interest
 Some alternate career options if they decide to change their stream in future

are very common in families
with teens. However, most
studies show that teens love
their parents and value these
relationships.

Handling Anxiety as parents
 It can be very difficult to communicate a sense of calm
to your child when you are struggling to cope with your
own anxiety. A mental health professional can help you
work through methods of stress management that will
suit your specific needs.
 As you learn to tolerate stress, you will in turn be
teaching your child—who takes cues from your
behavior—how to cope with situations of uncertainty or
doubt
 Try to take breaks in between your hectic schedule
 Time management
 Donot suppress your emotions.
 Come up with strategies in advance for managing
specific situations that trigger your stress.

Expected Outcomes  Parents are not the only beneficiaries; improved parenting skills have a lasting impact on the children they are raising.  Parenting sessions provide families with new strategies for communication, interactions and discipline.  Learning age-appropriate discipline, and how it is more effective than anger-driven punishment  Learning how to work together as parents to raise your children
  • 3. Parenting Approach OLD WAY Dictating Law Making Dominating Dreaming for them Let's dream together Ideating Negotiating NEW WAY Collaborating
  • 4. New Age Parenting  New Society: Individualistic & self centered  New Generation: “ME- GENERATION”  Less ability to cope with Discipline, Disappointment or challenges  New-age parenting: clear understanding of how they want their children to be.  Discarding the ‘Do as you say’ attitude.
  • 5. Mindful Parenting  Good enough’ Parent Vs. Perfect Parent  Establish healthy boundaries  Take a Mindful Pause  Respond, Don’t React: Reaction is based on Emotion whereas Response is based on reflection  My Personality and I - "It will influence the way your child views you and the rest of the world"  They need good company but not a boss around the house  Mother will always be their best friend and father the best guide Mindfulness: capacity to be fully present with one’s actual, moment-to- moment experience as it is, arising with kind attention without the mind trying to make it different.

Physical  Bodily Changes  Menstruation Behavior/ Emotional  Hormonal changes  Role confusion; Mood swings; Self- consciousness; Feelings of inferiority or superiority;  Argumentative  Rebelliousness/ Aggression  Stubbornness Social  Addiction to Cyber space  Peer Pressure  Socialising Psychological  Self-esteem; Confidence issues  Stress and Pressure  Depression Educational  Pressure to perform academically well/ Exam stress  Juggling school work and extra- curricular activities
  • 10.  Don’t ambush your teen  If your teen tells you a secret, keep it  Listen carefully to her concerns and feelings, and respect her views  Identify the warning signs of stress in your child  Allow them to make choices about their behaviors, responsibilities and decisions; make them aware of the consequences  Offer praise  Tell your teens you love them  Avoid comparison with other children and minimize pressure  Prepare the child to face the competitive world  Dont judge their actions  Avoid criticism How can we talk with our teen?
  • 11. Career Counselling Career counselling is an effort for students’ to acquire knowledge about the available career options as per their interest and stream of academics. With career counselling, students would be able to know :  Their aptitude and interests  Strengths and weaknesses of a particular interest  Make choice of stream for education after class 10  Career options available in market as per their academic choices  Career options available as per their interest  Some alternate career options if they decide to change their stream in future
  • 12. Conflict Resolution Establish ground rules Brainstorm possible solutions Pick and negotiate options acceptable Keep in mind that arguments are very common in families with teens. However, most studies show that teens love their parents and value these relationships. Treat each other with respect and listen to each other’s point of view Reach a mutual understanding
  • 13. Handling Anxiety as parents  It can be very difficult to communicate a sense of calm to your child when you are struggling to cope with your own anxiety. A mental health professional can help you work through methods of stress management that will suit your specific needs.  As you learn to tolerate stress, you will in turn be teaching your child—who takes cues from your behavior—how to cope with situations of uncertainty or doubt  Try to take breaks in between your hectic schedule  Time management  Donot suppress your emotions.  Come up with strategies in advance for managing specific situations that trigger your stress.  Join Support group
