Let's Talk About It: Ovarian Cancer - Survivor's Guiltbkling
The question of “Why me?” often exemplifies the experience of survivor’s guilt. Feeling survivor’s guilt is more common than you may think and can be triggered in different ways. Your positive news at a follow-up visit, regaining strength when treatment ends, and manageable side effects are all events that may counter-intuitively lead to stress or even shame. The loss of a fellow survivor naturally gives rise to grief which can be compounded by guilt. So Let's Talk About It.
Questions employers ask: Why does your experience qualifies for this role?Zorcis Consulting
Why does your experience qualifies for this role? Okay - It's a trick question because most likely you will launch by talking about yourself. We recommend an alternate strategy to answer this question.
The best thing about this is that - if you have prepared well for this question - you may find there are many places where this work could come in handy.
Metadata Matters Eliminating Manual Tagging in AllRegs by Ellie MaeConcept Searching, Inc
AllRegs by Ellie Mae is the leading information publisher for the mortgage industry, and wanted to improve findability and search for its mortgage lending content library, AllRegs Online. Join us for this very interesting webinar with Lynn Richmond, Product Manager for AllRegs by Ellie Mae, as we look at the benefits of metadata management, standardization, and auto-classification of content to taxonomies.
With a content library spanning every aspect of the mortgage industry – literally hundreds of thousands of documents – rarely a day goes by without the majority of mortgage professionals visiting the AllRegs by Ellie Mae website.
The company sought to leverage advanced technology to continue to bring its customers a world-class library of mortgage lending research and reference content. The challenge was the tagging of content manually, by the internal publishers. As with all manual tagging, inconsistencies existed.
conceptClassifier was selected because of its ability to automatically generate compound term metadata, as well as tight integration with FAST Search. The result was the elimination of end user tagging.
If your organization is thinking about adopting a new approach to metadata tagging, this webinar is for you.
Join the webinar to:
• Understand the reasons AllRegs by Ellie Mae needed to update its technology
• Learn best practices and approaches that enabled the successful deployment of the solution
• Hear about ease-of-use, rapid implementation, and features designed for Subject Matter Experts
• Watch a demo and see how the solution works

Join us to find out how Nottinghamshire County Council has improved information access and discovered one of the many processes that can be enhanced by the Concept Searching Technology Platform. Nottinghamshire County Council is the UK’s 9th largest Council, with 18,000 staff, including 6,500 PC users. Lesley Holmes, Information Manager at the Council will join us and share why it purchased the Concept Searching Technology platform and what it is being used for today.
Originally purchased to track information assets for the delivery of over 300 discrete services, the Concept Searching solution is now being used to support eDiscovery efforts for legal compliance. The flexibility of the technologies improves search outcomes by significantly improving the retrieval of highly precise and relevant information. This is particularly useful when information is scattered throughout the enterprise in diverse repositories. As a public sector organization, compliance with regulatory requirements and adherence to applicable laws are of paramount importance.
Not associated with the government? If you face challenges in eDiscovery, litigation, or non-compliance, this webinar will provide insight and knowledge.
Nottinghamshire County Council and Concept Searching will discuss:
• Why Concept Searching technologies and SharePoint were purchased
• Challenges and outcomes
• How the technologies are used today
• The eDiscovery process at work
• Why the Concept Searching Technology Platform was the solution that best met the client’s requirements
• Plans for future uses for the technologies

Patient and Public Involvement in Research: From Rhetoric To RealityMarie Ennis-O'Connor
It’s an exciting time in health research. As a broader view of what constitutes expertise and research evolves, barriers between the research community and the public are eroding, paving the way for the growth of patient and public involvement (PPI) in research.
PPI occurs when individuals meaningfully and actively collaborate in the governance, priority setting, and conduct of research, as well as in summarizing, distributing, sharing, and applying its resulting knowledge. PPI is an important step in ensuring that the real life experiences of patients are considered in decision-making processes around research.

Medical Technology Tackles New Health Care Demand - Research Report - March 2...pchutichetpong
M Capital Group (“MCG”) predicts that with, against, despite, and even without the global pandemic, the medical technology (MedTech) industry shows signs of continuous healthy growth, driven by smaller, faster, and cheaper devices, growing demand for home-based applications, technological innovation, strategic acquisitions, investments, and SPAC listings. MCG predicts that this should reflects itself in annual growth of over 6%, well beyond 2028.
According to Chris Mouchabhani, Managing Partner at M Capital Group, “Despite all economic scenarios that one may consider, beyond overall economic shocks, medical technology should remain one of the most promising and robust sectors over the short to medium term and well beyond 2028.”
There is a movement towards home-based care for the elderly, next generation scanning and MRI devices, wearable technology, artificial intelligence incorporation, and online connectivity. Experts also see a focus on predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory, and precision medicine, with rising levels of integration of home care and technological innovation.
The average cost of treatment has been rising across the board, creating additional financial burdens to governments, healthcare providers and insurance companies. According to MCG, cost-per-inpatient-stay in the United States alone rose on average annually by over 13% between 2014 to 2021, leading MedTech to focus research efforts on optimized medical equipment at lower price points, whilst emphasizing portability and ease of use. Namely, 46% of the 1,008 medical technology companies in the 2021 MedTech Innovator (“MTI”) database are focusing on prevention, wellness, detection, or diagnosis, signaling a clear push for preventive care to also tackle costs.
In addition, there has also been a lasting impact on consumer and medical demand for home care, supported by the pandemic. Lockdowns, closure of care facilities, and healthcare systems subjected to capacity pressure, accelerated demand away from traditional inpatient care. Now, outpatient care solutions are driving industry production, with nearly 70% of recent diagnostics start-up companies producing products in areas such as ambulatory clinics, at-home care, and self-administered diagnostics.

CRISPR-Cas9, a revolutionary gene-editing tool, holds immense potential to reshape medicine, agriculture, and our understanding of life. But like any powerful tool, it comes with ethical considerations.
Unveiling CRISPR: This naturally occurring bacterial defense system (crRNA & Cas9 protein) fights viruses. Scientists repurposed it for precise gene editing (correction, deletion, insertion) by targeting specific DNA sequences.
The Promise: CRISPR offers exciting possibilities:
Gene Therapy: Correcting genetic diseases like cystic fibrosis.
Agriculture: Engineering crops resistant to pests and harsh environments.
Research: Studying gene function to unlock new knowledge.
The Peril: Ethical concerns demand attention:
Off-target Effects: Unintended DNA edits can have unforeseen consequences.
Eugenics: Misusing CRISPR for designer babies raises social and ethical questions.
Equity: High costs could limit access to this potentially life-saving technology.
The Path Forward: Responsible development is crucial:
International Collaboration: Clear guidelines are needed for research and human trials.
Public Education: Open discussions ensure informed decisions about CRISPR.
Prioritize Safety and Ethics: Safety and ethical principles must be paramount.
CRISPR offers a powerful tool for a better future, but responsible development and addressing ethical concerns are essential. By prioritizing safety, fostering open dialogue, and ensuring equitable access, we can harness CRISPR's power for the benefit of all. (2998 characters)
6. “Before cancer arrived unannounced and uninvited
like a stealth bomber, I felt brainwashed, picturing
the diagnosis would yield tattoos of pink ribbons,
car magnets, strawberry cupcakes delivered daily to
my door. From the spectator side-lines of cancer
before the diagnosis, it all looked one-dimensional “
- Michelle Weldon
7. “But when I arrived on this side of cancer, I was able to see a
truer picture, one that is clear and unclouded, a broader,
richer landscape of many colours.”

16. Should we stop writing
just because we are
nearing the end of life?
Should we forego the
social interaction that is
made so difficult by our
physical condition but is
facilitated through the
new media?
17. Who determines appropriate use of social media
in a situation when a family member is doing
the posting on social media and not the patient?
18.
19. “For me I tend not to share my health story
publicly. If I’m identified primarily as patient I
feel I might lose professional credibility. We
need to change the culture. Patients ARE also
professionals. You can have identity that is part
patient and also a lot of other things in the
universe.”
20. Ask Yourself…
• Where are you sharing information online and
what level of control will you have over it?
• If your intended audience were sitting in front
of you now, how comfortable would you feel
sharing this?
• How do you think you’ll feel after sharing? Are
you ready for feedback (positive or negative)?
• What support will you have in dealing with
any emotions that may arise?
21. To Protect Yourself….
• Think ahead! Be aware of your digital
footprint.
• Allow trust to build over time.
• Share only when ready.
• Protect yourself if you are feeling vulnerable.
