According to the World Health Organization (WHO), health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not just the absence of disease. In 2005, WHO recognized the importance of evaluating people's quality of life. As lifespans increase, health is examined beyond causes of death to include an individual's quality of life. Health-related quality of life encompasses self-rated physical and mental health, overall well-being, and participation in society. Well-being considers physical, mental and social aspects of life, including vigor, life satisfaction, emotions, self-acceptance, and social support from family and friends.
