Computer System
A computer system consists of some main stage as like, Hardware, software &
somewhere User.
Hardware part have been carefully chosen so that they will work together and
software part run in the computer. For software part the main things OS
(operating system, ex: windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 etc)
A computers hardware components are the physical part of a computer, as like:
Monitor, mouse, keyboard, printer, scanner, M/B (main board/ motherboard)
Application software's or simply apps, are often called end-user programs
because they enable the user to complete tasks, such as creating documents,
spreadsheets, databases and publications, doing online research, sending email,
designing graphics, running businesses, and even playing games. Examples-MS
office , music player etc

Major Characteristics / properties of a Computer System.
1. Organization (Order)
2. Interaction
3. Interdependence
4. Integration
5. Central Objective
5 / 15
1. Organization (Order)
 Organization implies structure and order.
 It is the arrangement of components that helps to achieve predetermined
objectives.
 For example:
 Hierarchical relationship starting with the president on top and leading down ward to the blue collar worker
represent the organization structure

6 / 15
 It is defined by the manner in which the components operate with each
other.
For example, in an organization, purchasing department must interact with
production department and payroll with personal department.
Example”
 In computer system:
CPU
 I/O device
1. Interaction
7 / 15
Interdependence means how the components of a system depend on one
another. For proper functioning, the components are coordinated and linked
together according to a specified plan. The output of one subsystem is the
required by other subsystem as input.
3. Interdependence
8 / 15
CPU
USERMEMORY
Simply it means-
Integration is concerned with how a system components are connected
together. It means that the parts of the system work together within the
system even if each part performs a unique function.
4. Integration
9 / 15
Simply it means-
The objective of system must be central. It may be real or stated. It is not
uncommon for an organization to state an objective and operate to achieve
another.
5. Central Objective
10 / 15
 Physical or Abstract Systems
 Open or Closed Systems
 Adaptive and Non Adaptive System
 Permanent or Temporary System
 Natural and Manufactured System
 Deterministic or Probabilistic System
 Social, Human-Machine, Machine System
 Man–Made Information Systems
Types of system
11 / 15
Element Of A System:
12
outputs and Inputs
 The main aim of a system is to
produce an output which is useful
for its user.
 Inputs are the information that
enters into the system for
processing.
 Output is the outcome of
processing.
