Understanding the Network
 Informatics experts understanding the
network is the set between two or more
computers connected to each other, with
cable or wireless transmission media.
 According to us understanding the
computer network is a collection of
computers that mutual tehubung through
wired and wireless media that can share
data and information.
Network Characteristics
 Speed
 Flexibility
 Interface Transparency
 Reliability
 Adaptability
 Security
TYPE NETWORK
Geographically
A. Local Area Network (LAN)
B. Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)
C. Wide Area Network (WAN)
D. Internet
E. WIRELESS
Based on Data Transmission Media
 Wired Network
 Wireless Network (Wifi)
Based on Information / Data Source
Distribution
1. Centralized Network
2. Distributed Networks
Network Topology
Topologi Bus
Advantages & Disadvantages of Bus Topology
Excess Bus Topology:
1. Installation costs can be considered very cheap
2. because it uses only a few cables.
3. The addition of new client / workstation can be
4. done easily.
5. The topology is very simple and easy to apply
Disadvantages of Bus Topology:
1. If one of the cables on the bus network topology is
broken or problematic, it may interfere with other
workstation / client computers.
2. The process of sending (sending) and receiving
(receiving) data is less efficient, usually data collisions
often occur in this topology.
3. Topology that is very old and difficult to develop.
Topologi Star
Advantages & Disadvantages of Star Topology
Excess Star Topology, namely:
1. If one of the computers has problems, the network on this
topology is still running and does not affect other computers.
2. Flexible
3. Level of security can be quite good than the bus topology.
4. Ease of problem detection is quite easy if there is damage to
the network.
The shortcomings of Star Topology are:
1. If the switch / hub that notabenya as a central point have
problems, then all the computers connected to this topology
also have problems.
2. It takes quite a lot of cables, so the expenses incurred are
quite expensive.
3. The network is highly dependent on the central terminal.
Topologi Ring
Advantages & Disadvantages of Ring
Topology
Excess Ring Topology :
 It has better performance than bus topology.
 Easy to implement.
 Reconfiguring and installing new devices can be fairly easy.
 The installation cost is quite cheap.
Lack of Ring Topology :
 Communication performance in this topology is judged by the
number of points or nodes.
 Troubleshooting can be fairly complicated.
 If one of the connections breaks, then the other connection also
break up.
 If one of the connections breaks, then the other connection also
break up...
Other Topologies
 Topologi Mesh
 Topologi peer to peer
 Topologi Linier
 Topologi Tree
 Topologi Hybrid
Network Tools
 Hub
 Swicth
 Router
 UTP cable
 RJ45
 Modem
 NIC
 Repeater
