A computer network connects two or more computers through wired or wireless communication mediums in order to share computer resources and information. The key components of a computer network include sending devices that transmit information, receiving devices that accept transmitted data, communication devices like modems that enable communication between computers and other devices, and transmission mediums like cables and wireless technologies that carry communication signals from one place to another.

A device which sends any information in

known as “Sink”. The receiving device
may be a computer, printer, plotter etc.

most popular and most widely used
communications is Modem. Modem is
normally used for internet communication.
Other examples of communication device
are Network interface card, Bluetooth,
Wi-Fi etc.

8. Transmission
Medium:
A transmission medium is used for caring
communication signals (data) from one
place to another. The most common type
of transmission media used with wired
computer network are twisted pair cable,
coaxial cable, fiber-optic cables etc.
whereas satellite, microwave and infra red
are commonly used for wireless computer
networks.
