Food Waste In Canada
A growing issue about food waste is at hand in Canada, and citizens should seek methods in order
to reduce this. Personally I think people are blindfolded as to how much they are contributing to
this matter and the future consequences they may face. At the rate this issue is escalating it is
affecting the planet adversely, therefore efforts should be made by each individual. To reduce food
waste, it is necessary to be organized which could be done so by preserving, shopping better and
visibility.
By preserving food into canisters not only is it kept organized but the amount of food being
wasted will subside. Typically during occasions there tends to be an extra amount of food arranged
which is trashed out in the following days to come. Instead

Importance Of Fuzzy Logic
6.1. IMPORTANCE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is all about the relative importance of
precision: use as Fuzzy Logic Toolbox software with MATLAB technical computing software as
a tool for solving problems with fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is a fascinating area of research because
it does a good job of trading off between significance and precision something that humans have
been managing for a very long time. In this sense, fuzzy logicis both old and new because, although
the modern and methodical science of fuzzy logic is still young, the concept of fuzzy logic relies
on age old skills of human reasoning. Fig 6.1 Fuzzy Description 6.2. USAGE OF FUZZY LOGIC
Fuzzy logic is a convenient way to map an input space to an output space. Mapping input to output
is the starting point for everything. Consider the following examples:
With information about how good your service was at a restaurant, a fuzzy logic system can tell
you what the tip should be.
With your specification of how hot you want the water, a fuzzy logic system can adjust the faucet
valve to the right setting.
With information about how far away the subject of your photograph is, a fuzzy logic system can
focus the lens for you.

Between the input and the output, the preceding figure shows a black box that can contain any
number of things: fuzzy systems, linear systems, expert systems, neural networks, differential
equations, interpolated multi dimensional lookup tables, or even a spiritual advisor, just to
name a few of the possible options. Clearly the list could go on and on.Of the dozens of ways to
make the black box work, it turns out that fuzzy is often the very best way. As Lotfi Zadeh, who
is considered to be the father of fuzzy logic, once remarked: In almost every case you can build the
same product without fuzzy logic, but fuzzy is faster and

All About the ACL Essay
In November of 2010, I was playing basketball in the fifth game of my senior season. It was just
like any other game. However, I would soon find out otherwise. It was late in the game; I drove into
the lane and got fouled hard. I was knocked so off balance that I speared the floor with my knee. As
soon as my kneehit the floor I heard a snap that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Little
did I know at the time, that would be the last shot of my high school basketball career. Not long
after my injury, I consulted a doctor. After getting an x ray and an MRI, the doctor informed me
that I had completely torn my ACL and would need to have surgery. An ACL tear can be a very
devastating injury. The anterior cruciate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main function of the ACL is to restrict forward movement and inward rotation of the lower leg
and control hyperextension of the knee.
An injury to the ACL is classified as a sprain. A sprain is a joint injury that causes a stretch or a
tear in a ligament. Sprains are graded I, II, or III depending on how severe the injury is. A grade
I sprain will have pain with minimal damage to the ligaments. A grade II sprain is going to have
more ligament damage and mild looseness of the joint. Finally, in a grade III sprain, the ligament
is completely torn and the joint is very loose or unstable. A grade III sprain, simply called an ACL
tear, is most often a sports related injury. Still, The ACL can be torn in other instances such as
during rough play, vehicular collisions, falls, and work related injuries. According to a study
performed by Jonathan Cluett, M.D., about 80% of sports related ACL tears are non contact
injuries. This means that the injury does not result from any contact with another athlete. A rupture
to the ACL is the result of the ligament within the knee being overstretched. This is usually caused
by a plant pivot mechanism (a stop and twist motion) of the knee, or a blunt force to the front of the
knee. Other factors include quick changes of motion, twisting or torquing, or landing from a jump.
Hyperextension is most

The Central Park Play Analysis
The Central Park Cast recreated their roles very well in Annie Jr. The play Annie Jr. has four
main characters are Annie who is an orphan, Miss Hannigan who is an orphanage matron, Grace
Farrell who is Mr. Warbucks s secretary, Mr. Warbucks who is a billionaire. This play is about
an orphan girl named Annie who was hopeless. Annie lived in horrible orphanage where Miss
Hannigan was the orphanage matron. Miss Hannigan is a has been who hated her job and the
kids at the orphanage. Annie tried to run away but the police officer caught her and brought her
back to the horrible orphanage. Miss Hannigan had everyone fooled because everyone thought
she was nice and treated the girls well but, she actually didn t. Annie s life change completely
when she was selected by Grace Farrell to go stay with Mr. Warbucks for a short period of time.
Suddenly, everyone is charmed by Annie including Mr. Warbucks who can be a little cold hearted.

I think that the spotlight was too bright when Annie was singing tomorrow. I think the costumes
were good and matched with their roles perfectly. I think the costumes made the actors actually
feel like they were actually the people who they were acting as in the play. The orphan girls
actually looked as if they belonged to a horrible orphanage because their clothes looked as if they
were actually hand me downs . They were dirty and big. Annie s appearance changed dramatically
along with her life. The music was good and I think that the cast sung well. Although, I could not
understand what they were singing sometimes. These elements helped the cast create a great play.
The music helped to create a mood for every set. The costumes helped improve their characters.
Overall, I think this cast did an awesome job and I think that they should do more

The Ineffective Use Of Shorthands In Dracula By Bram Stoker
Bram Stoker makes the argument that technological advancements are ineffective through his
representation of Harker s use of shorthand. Stoker portrays how Harker attempts to challenge the
Count by using shorthand, but yet remains vulnerable to his power due to the ineffectiveness of
modern advancements. While Harker is trapped in Draculas castle at the beginning of the novel, he
writes in his journal in shorthand. This abbreviated form of writing allows Harker to write more
swiftly and most importantly, it ensures that his writing is unintelligible to Dracula, who is unable
to decipher the symbols and abbreviations that he uses. While Harker is confined within Dracula s
castle, the Count requests that he writes letters to his friends back... Show more content on

Writing in shorthand is a survival strategy for Harker as he is imprisoned within the Count s castle.
His shorthand is unintelligible to the Count since it is a newly emerged method of communication
and as a result, he is able to disclose his frightening experiences in the castle to Mina since it is
unintelligible to the Count. The use of shorthand itself suggests that Victorian society is shifting to
advancements in communication that prioritize efficiency and productivity, which reflects
modernity s drive to innovate technology which transforms Victorian society as a result. Harker s
use of shorthand is presented in a way that attempts to challenge Dracula, who is old fashioned and
counters modernity as he represents the supernatural in constrast to scientific and modern progress.
The novel integrates the use of this modern advancement in order to demonstrate the contrast
between modernity and supernatural traditions as Harker finds comfort in this modern form of
communication as he is threatened by Dracula s supernatural abilities within his old, dark ruined
castle. However, Harker s use of shorthand itself is not enough to overcome the

Creon as the Tragic Hero of an
Greek tragedy would not be complete with out a tragic hero. Sophocles wrote Antigone with a
specific character in mind for this part. Based on Aristotle s definition, Creon is the tragic hero of

Creon fits Aristotle s tragic hero traits as a significant person who is faced with difficult decisions.
Creon is significant because he is king. This makes him both renowned and prosperous. Creon is
not completely good nor completely bad; he is somewhere in between, as humans are. The

characteristics. While Creon realizes his wrong doing and negative traits, and strives to change,
Antigone does not. She does not change, but stays ignorant, even in her death. The only way to
grow and improve oneself is to change. Creon changes, but cannot benefit from them because his
death so quickly follows his transformation. The audience realizes how short life is, and Creon s

American Spirits Were Exceptionally High At The End Of The...
American spirits were exceptionally high at the end of the War of 1812 which brought about a
defeat of the British once again. In the years that followed the War, a sense of national unity
materialized throughout the country as a One Party System grew out of James Monroe s presidency
with the disappearance of the Federalists. The Columbian Centinel proclaimed that this time period
after the War of 1812was an Era of Good Feelings , a phrase applied to Monroe s presidency ever
since. But contradictory to this label, this time period in American history was actually turbulent,
for sectionalism propagated and a nationwide panic heightened. Therefore, with emerging

During his presidency, Monroe supported the American System in which the government supported
economic growth and protective measures for domestic manufacturers from foreign competition.
Unfortunately, not everyone favored the American System. In the South especially, Southerners
opposed such a protective tariff for it only supported Northern manufactures, while hurting the
Southern economy at the same time. The South, primarily agricultural with a large exporting
economy, had to import all of its goods having to pay up to в…“ it s price in tax in order to comply
with the American System. John Randolph, a Southerner, expressed his grievances to Congress
hoping to alleviate the struggles of the South by saying, no one interest in the country should be
sacrificed by the management of taxation to another... the agriculturalists bear the whole front of
the war and taxation (Document A). In saying this Randolph not only questioned Congress s
intentions of collecting revenue and favoring the North, but also its job to regulate commerce, not
taxes. The American System clearly drove a wedge between Northern and Southern interests.
The institution of chartering a Second National Bank also stimulated many controversies. Once
again, the Bank, an element of the American System created to strengthen national currency, placed
commercial interests of the North over farmers and agriculturalists of the South. In the

Cleopatra as a Historical Figure Essay
Cleopatra as a Historical Figure
In hieroglyphs, the name reads Kleopadra . It is a name which in Greek means Glory of Her
Race (Weigall, 44). It is a name belonging to a woman who has transcended the boundaries of
time so that we may know her story. What better way to describe Cleopatra, the last Queen of
Egypt, Ruler of the Nile, sent from the Gods themselves to lead her people, than Glory of Her Race
? Cleopatra, the last ruling descendant of the Ptolemaic Dynasty, has arguably unparalleled fame as
a female historical figure.
Yet we must ask ourselves: why? What is it about this individual that strikes us as so intriguing that

Shakespeare s play, Antony and Cleopatra, shows this juxtaposition of the East and West as well,
especially through the characters in the play. The opulence and sensuality of the East is
personified by Cleopatra, whereas the moral solidity and observance of duty is beheld in Octavius.
Mark Antony is torn between the two ideals, his duty as a Roman, and his obvious desire to
indulge in the hedonistic way of the East.
This exoticness of Cleopatra leads to a general view of her, both by the Egyptian and Roman
populace, as having an other worldliness quality about, a strange mysticism. This is reinforced by
Cleopatra s constant referral of herself as Isis, one of the more powerful Egyptian goddesses.
Cleopatra is said to ...have attired herself...that which was supposed... to have been worn by the
mother deity Isis (Weigall, 45). By identifying herself with a goddess, Cleopatra is merely
continuing the custom that the Pharaohs of old used to practice. Isis, whose Latin epithet, Stella
Maris, means Star Of The Sea, is of particular importance to Cleopatra not only because she is an
extremely strong, religious image of feminine power, but she is also often depicted as a
personification of the throne itself, thus

Chronological Age And Functional Age
Late adulthood is portrayed in prints, TV and other popular media from various perspectives. In
general, they are depicted as wise, stubborn, love to give advice, have difficulty performing
regular physical activities, some are even in wheelchairs or using assisted canes, and have lots
of stories to tell. It s the period of time when people are supposed to become slower, to get more
obsessive, needy, and look confused most of the time. However, this period has interesting facts
to educate each and every one of us. We are all going to get there, one way or another.
Chronological age vs functional age Everyone grows and ages differently. That is why
chronological age is a flawed tool to use to check a person s functional age. There is a vast
variation between chronological age and functional age. Chronological age is essentially a
person s biological age, while functional age is used to dictate the actual competence and
performance of an individual . For example, a 70 year old can actually appear younger than a 55
year old (Berk 443). Life Expectancy Chronological age doesn t show an accurate functional age
because people age at different rates. The average life expectancy is the number of years that a
person can expect to live based on his birth year and the region he lives in. Over the years, there
have actually been dramatic raise in the average life expectancy. Qualities in lifespan varies

tv, listening to music, going shopping, but most important girls right for education.
The taliban first came to Swat in the year of 2004, but according to Malala they did not show
their violence or oppressiveness when they first came. But in 2007 when they started to take
control over Swat their violence and brutalness was being used so the people would do what the

Girl right to go to school, girls going to the market, or even going to work, was all banned. The

and all this was just to ban education. It became very dangerous for students to go to school, and
many students including ones at Malala s school dropped out.but Malala continued to go to
school because to her education was everything. Not only was violence used to make people
follow the rules that the taliban set, but it was also used in public where whipping and execution
was being used for anyone that broke the taliban s rules. The taliban have blasted more than 400
schools in swat, and slaughtered people , Malala says with her interview with Jon Stewart. That
shows you, that the taliban were so harsh and cruel to the people of Swat, they made the people
live in fear. Swat changed because of all the violence and oppressiveness of the taliban, instead of
Swat being paradise on earth like Malala describes it in her book I am Malala , it has became a war

If the taliban are being cruel, harsh, and are banning girls education, what do they want to reach?
Well according to Malala, the terrorists are afraid of education, they do not want women to get
education because they do not want women to be more powerful , that might be one reason that
shows you what the taliban want from banning girls from going to school, which is trying not to
make education or girls more powerful than them. And that is why the taliban are using violence so

How Did The Civil War Shaped America Today
America s Civil War ultimately shaped how America is today. The Civil War is the bloodiest
war to date lasting five years, resulting in the deaths of about 600,000 people, and millions more
were injured. The nation had split into two sides, The Confederacy, mostly Southern states, and
the Union, mainly Northern states. After an ongoing debate, the war sparked due to opposing
beliefs such as how much power the states held compared to the federal government, westward
expansion, and opinions of slavery. Before the war, men had served the primary role in the battles
and women stayed home taking care of the family. Women wanted to take a more active role
during the war, taking on jobs as nurses, spies, laundresses, and cooks. More than 400 women
disguised themselves as men and fought in the Union and Confederate armies during the Civil War.
Some even made extraordinary efforts to make sure their side of the country was the victorious one.

Hamlet And Laertes Similarities
The historic play Hamlet by William Shakespeare is the longest play with 4,042 lines and is the
second most filmed story in the world. To develop a deeper understanding of the play, it is
important to observe the similarities of the two characters; Prince Hamlet and Laertes. In the play,
they are both young men whose fathers are murdered due to political conflict. These men have

In spite of the distance, Laertes and Hamlet return and leave Denmark many times throughout
the play. They both love a woman named Ophelia in different ways. Laertes loves Ophelia since
it is his sister, and Hamlet loves her in a lustily way. Both Laertes and Hamlet react similarly
when at Ophelia s funeral. Both jump into her grave, declaring their love for Ophelia. As Laertes
vows revenge, Hamlet states he has in him something dangerous, telling Laertes: I loved
Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers. Could not, with all their quantity of love, make up my sum.
What wilt thou do for her?. Different in approach, Hamlet and Laertes yet share similarities in
matters of the heart. Both Laertes and Hamlet want to keep Ophelia safe from the people and
customs of where she lives. Laertes takes on the big brother role and advises Ophelia to keep her
virtue safe and stay away from Hamlet because all he is doing is using her. In Laertes s eyes,
Hamlet must marry in order to suit the kingdom, so marrying the daughter of the king s right
hand man would not benefit the kingdom in any way. Therefore he believes that Hamlet is just
trying to take advantage of her. Later, Hamlet purposely acts cruelly towards Ophelia in order to
protect her. He wants her to have no involvement in his plan to kill the king. Even though she
betrayed him, he cannot possibly hate her, the proof is at her funeral. He was devastated because
of her death and even proceeded to throw himself in her grave along with Laertes. Although they
fight, it was just because they were both jealous of how much the other loved

The National Health Education Standards (NHES)
The National Health Education Standards (NHES) were developed by the Center for Disease

There is a connection between education and health and with these standards an alignment was

Celebrities have a lot of power and as a result, they can have significant selling power as seen in

Africa s Influence on Western Art Essay
Africa s Influence on Western Art
During the mid 19th century up until the Great War of 1914, European countries began to heavily
colonize and come into contact with African nations. This was called new imperialism . During this
contact, European culture was influenced by Africa. The influence of the African people can be seen
in the European society of the time. In the 19th and 20th centuries, modern artists embraced African
art for its lack of pretension or formal qualities. In the latter part of the 19th century, the scramble
for Africa, consolidated at the Berlin Conference, divided the terrain of the African continent among

Religion was at most often marked in masks and sculpture. Masks were used in many ritual

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Metal Awnings
Wondering What Type Of Awnings To Choose? Here s How Metal And Fabric Compare
If you ve decided it s time to get awnings for your house windows, you might be overwhelmed
with all your choices. Unless you already know the kind of awnings you want, you may wonder
which type is best for your home.
You have two basic choices to begin with. You can install a metal or fabric awning
. Each has its
own advantages and disadvantages, but both types work well, so you can t really go wrong no
matter which type you choose. Here is a look at how these options differ.
Awning Appearance
Metal awnings and fabric awnings look similar but since the materials are so different, you can tell
them apart quite easily. Metal awnings can be standing seam or flat metal.
If you have a metal roof, one of these awnings could look like a natural extension of the roof.
They come in a number of colors so you can match or contrast the colors of your home. Fabric
awnings have the most variety when it comes to appearance.
These awnings come in a range of colors, stripes, and patterns. Fabric awnings also come in a
variety of shapes since the fabric can take on the shape of the form beneath it. Fabric is also used
on retractable awnings since it can be rolled up easily and hidden when the awning is not in use.
Sun Protection
Metal awnings are solid material so they completely block the sun. Fabric awnings can let some
light filter through depending on the type of fabric you choose. Consider how

because they don t know what is his intentions. He whom was known as the Le Cost Killer did not
even blink an eye when changing the current organizational culture and the internal processes of
Nissan. The main reason of the resistance in Nissan was because of Ghosn s Brazilian ethnicity
and also his Lebanese heritage and the difference in culture way of approaching the problems are
really different from the people of Japan. Everyone knows that the Japanese managementculture is
the masculine(manly) type with large power distance and that the Japanese peopleare really
obedient towards the higher ups (Hofstede). Carlos whom previously had shown a proactive
management type of style at Renault where he managed to improve the cost efficiencies and
because of his good management record, he was being headhunted to become the CEO of Nissan.
In a country like Japan, one usually assume that the new CEO should be someone who knows the
local culture and customs of Japan but in this case however Carlos was probably aware of the fact
that regardless of his shortage of knowledge about the culture itself, he had an advantage for having
worked on four different countries with different cultures and was able to overcome the cultural
differences.
Back in 1991, Nissan was capable of producing good quality cars but the company itself had
ignored the customers needs of stylish and innovative cars .

Dow Jones Sustainability World Index for seven consecutive years and listed on the North America

Even though the company had recorded a number of impressive achievements over the past
decade, its growth had slowed since 2011. In fact, the spikes in the company s revenue growth
since 2000 had resulted from major acquisitions such as the $13.6 billion acquisition of Quaker

Clouded Leopard Research Paper
The clouded leopard could possibly be saved. There are 10,000 left as of 2015 they are considered
critically endangered. They are critically endangered because of Hunting,Poaching, Climate
changes, and Human impact are all causes of the population decrease.
Human Impact is one of the causes the clouded leopard is going extinct. The black market sells
the clouded leopards skulls and pelts for 5,700 dollars to vietnam each year. Smuggling is a big
part of human impact because illegal markets smuggle 3,00 each year . Also the clouded leopard
is getting killed by farmers because it eats the farmers livestock which is a decrease to the farmers
livestock so they kill the leopard. Therefore Human Impact is a big problem .
Climate change is another factor of the Clouded leopards extinction.By south asia, the weather has
gotten a lot warmer which is why it s hard for the animal to repopulate. Their natural environment is
being harmed due to Global warming. The clouded leopard is normally in cold weather so they

Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay
Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout
the years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments.
However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The
price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity
securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the
previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the
current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their
expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which
eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings
ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the
market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped
investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted
earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so
slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is most likely due to the
considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting Goods has been
managing their earnings per share through share buy backs which is

Reflection On Human Sexuality
This class was, potentially, the most enlightening out of any of our classes this semester. I tend to
think about myself as incredibly open minded and well rounded when it comes to understanding the
different aspects of human sexuality, but this class showed me how little I truly know. Listening to
this class s guest speakers illuminated me to the depth of the BDSMcommunity that I had
previously been blind to. While I had known some about BDSM from simply a fetish/paraphilia
/technical standpoint, I wasn t aware that it also denoted such a rich community. I suppose that I
could have expected that BDSM would have it s own community, but, since it is outside of my
realm of sexuality, I was simplistic in the way that I understood BDSM as only a fetish. My
simplistic thinking is made worse when I consider the fact that one of my closest friends was a
professional submissive for a few years prior to coming to Reno, but I never asked many questions
because I felt that it would be too personal or would show potential holes in my knowledge. This is
why I am so glad that we had guest speakers for this topic in class. When I was reading this
chapter in the Lehmiller book, I found it to be informative on a baseline knowledge level, but it
definitely lost a lot of the depth and complexity of the fetishes and paraphilia themselves, and
particularly the people that practice these aspects of sexuality. Having a guest speaker come in
allows for the other students, as well as myself, to

Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion
The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their
respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and
political order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century,
Virginia s quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the
consumption of dirty water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and
indentured servants were finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement
in quality of life, Virginia s economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was
being controlled by men using it to gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and
high taxes. In addition to the economy forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of
society, there was no good land in Virginia for them to expand.... Show more content on

If People Were Good For Homeless People
Many people believe that all human natural reactions were good. Although, the word good has
many definitions. One of the main definitions is, that which is morally right; righteousness

right thing then why are there orphanages, wars, homeless people, and police? If people were
good, then they would do the right thing and adopt children in orphanages. If people were good,
then countries would help each other instead of fighting. If people were good, then there would

There are various theories as to why we dream, one of them is activation synthesis hypothesis,

dreams are the brain trying to make sense of the random neural activity that takes place during

These women gathered within two days of their conversation and placed an announcement at the

ideology of the Women s Rights Movement. Mill discussed the role of women in society during
that time, pointing out how the patriarchy placed such an intense limit on what women could do.
Patriarchy is a system in which the male race governs societal views or social organization
marked by the supremacy of the father in the clan or family, the legal dependence of wives and
children, and the reckoning of descent and inheritance in the male line; broadly: control by men of
a disproportionately large share of power (Merriam Webster). His work raised the consciousness of

My Observations At The Pacific Center Mall Essay
Introduction: The mall is commonly known as a social hub where people of all ages can go to
meet friends, go shopping, enjoy a meal, or simply relax. With this in mind, it was the perfect spot
to observe, record, and analysis any cultural norms. For this observational report, I conducted my
observations at the Pacific Centre Mall on Saturday October 8th, 2016 from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm.
Since it was a Saturday just after lunch time, I assumed it was going to be busy and crowded.
When I arrived, my assumptions were correct as I saw a lot of people and it was fairly packed.
After reading Poe s The man of the crowd (1840), I was able to observe some themes from the
story as well as other common characteristics which I was also to see in the mall while I
underwent my observations. I was able to witness the isolation of an individual even while in a
dense area. I was soon able to distinguish people based on their groups and actions like the
narrator did in the story. I could also see the gathering of people and groups in certain areas or
stores and the overwhelming presence of certain brands in the form of handheld devices and
beverages, to shopping bags. Lastly, the appearance of the people circling the area over and over
again. With the combinations of these themes, the mall created a dynamic where people of different
backgrounds, sociability skills, and genders could blend cohesively.
The Inner Isolation of an Individual: One of the groups that Poe

Cervical Radiculopathy Case Study
Cervical Radiculopathy Cervical radiculopathy is also known as a pinched nerve . In this paper it
discusses the presentation, pathophysiology, differential diagnoses, treatment modalities and patient
education. Presentation Upon observation the patient with cervical radiculopathy usually presents
with a head tilt away from the injury or a stiff neck, active range of motion may also be reduced
and increased pain with lateral bending away from the affected side. The patient upon palpation
may have tenderness along the paraspinal muscles and hypertonicity or spasm of the affected side
may occur (Malanga, 2016). There may also be muscle weakness or numbness down one arm even
extending to the fingertips. Pathophysiology Cervical radiculopathy is usually caused by a... Show

In the cases that the cervical radiculopathy does not improve than a soft neck collar can be used
to rest the neck or a neck pillow at night. Physical therapy may be used and neck traction may be
used in order to reduce the compression of the nerve root. A short burst of oral steroids may be
used however no controlled studies have been done to prove their effectiveness. Dosages of
60mg of oral steroids for 7 days may be used to help alleviate inflammation (Malanga, 2016). To
further help reduce inflammation icing and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
should be used in the initial phase of treatment. The usual dosage for cervical radiculopathy is
Ibuprofen 800mg by mouth three times daily for the next 10 14 days (Malanga, 2016). There
have also been studies showing that tricyclic antidepressants have helped have an analgesic effect
on chronic and neuropathic pain, such as Elavil or Pamelor (Malanga, 2016). If these treatments
still do not give relief then a referral to an orthopedic surgeon is needed. At that point a steroid
injection may be performed or a surgical intervention may be

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
If you look at any company or organization, you are bound to find a list of values, things that
others view as positive qualities in a person. These could be things such as honesty, knowledge,
diligence, and compassion. Values set up a foundation for the organization, something for their
employees to follow and exemplify in their service to the general public. Employees can use their
organization s values to see what their strengths are and where they needto improve. Values also
provide a reference point when hiring new employees, helping employers to see which individuals
are already living the organization s values. The American Physical TherapyAssociation (APTA)
has such a list of values, which they refer to as Core Values . These are Accountability, Altruism,
Compassion/Caring, Excellence, Integrity, Professional Duty, and Social Responsibility. It is
important for me, as a future Physical Therapist Assistant, to look at the APTA s Core Values
and see where my strengths and weaknesses lie. Out of these Core Values, I feel that I am
strongest is Compassion/Caring. Throughout my life, I have always been concerned with the
wellbeing of others. I try my best to help those around me whenever I can. A huge part of the
value of Compassion/Caring is considering the needs of others, attending to those needs, and
helping others feel that they are worth something. When I was in high school, a friend of mine
called me one day, asking for my help. She had gotten some bad news

  • 5. Importance Of Fuzzy Logic 6.1. IMPORTANCE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is all about the relative importance of precision: use as Fuzzy Logic Toolbox software with MATLAB technical computing software as a tool for solving problems with fuzzy logic. Fuzzy logic is a fascinating area of research because it does a good job of trading off between significance and precision something that humans have been managing for a very long time. In this sense, fuzzy logicis both old and new because, although the modern and methodical science of fuzzy logic is still young, the concept of fuzzy logic relies on age old skills of human reasoning. Fig 6.1 Fuzzy Description 6.2. USAGE OF FUZZY LOGIC Fuzzy logic is a convenient way to map an input space to an output space. Mapping input to output is the starting point for everything. Consider the following examples: With information about how good your service was at a restaurant, a fuzzy logic system can tell you what the tip should be. With your specification of how hot you want the water, a fuzzy logic system can adjust the faucet valve to the right setting. With information about how far away the subject of your photograph is, a fuzzy logic system can focus the lens for you. 49 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was late in the game; I drove into the lane and got fouled hard. I was knocked so off balance that I speared the floor with my knee. As soon as my kneehit the floor I heard a snap that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Little did I know at the time, that would be the last shot of my high school basketball career. Not long after my injury, I consulted a doctor. After getting an x ray and an MRI, the doctor informed me that I had completely torn my ACL and would need to have surgery. An ACL tear can be a very devastating injury. The anterior cruciate... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main function of the ACL is to restrict forward movement and inward rotation of the lower leg and control hyperextension of the knee. An injury to the ACL is classified as a sprain. A sprain is a joint injury that causes a stretch or a tear in a ligament. Sprains are graded I, II, or III depending on how severe the injury is. A grade I sprain will have pain with minimal damage to the ligaments. A grade II sprain is going to have more ligament damage and mild looseness of the joint. Finally, in a grade III sprain, the ligament is completely torn and the joint is very loose or unstable. A grade III sprain, simply called an ACL tear, is most often a sports related injury. Still, The ACL can be torn in other instances such as during rough play, vehicular collisions, falls, and work related injuries. According to a study performed by Jonathan Cluett, M.D., about 80% of sports related ACL tears are non contact injuries. This means that the injury does not result from any contact with another athlete. A rupture to the ACL is the result of the ligament within the knee being overstretched. This is usually caused by a plant pivot mechanism (a stop and twist motion) of the knee, or a blunt force to the front of the knee. The Ineffective Use Of Shorthands In Dracula By Bram Stoker Bram Stoker makes the argument that technological advancements are ineffective through his representation of Harker s use of shorthand. Stoker portrays how Harker attempts to challenge the Count by using shorthand, but yet remains vulnerable to his power due to the ineffectiveness of modern advancements. While Harker is trapped in Draculas castle at the beginning of the novel, he writes in his journal in shorthand. This abbreviated form of writing allows Harker to write more swiftly and most importantly, it ensures that his writing is unintelligible to Dracula, who is unable to decipher the symbols and abbreviations that he uses. The use of shorthand itself suggests that Victorian society is shifting to advancements in communication that prioritize efficiency and productivity, which reflects modernity s drive to innovate technology which transforms Victorian society as a result. Harker s use of shorthand is presented in a way that attempts to challenge Dracula, who is old fashioned and counters modernity as he represents the supernatural in constrast to scientific and modern progress. The novel integrates the use of this modern advancement in order to demonstrate the contrast between modernity and supernatural traditions as Harker finds comfort in this modern form of communication as he is threatened by Dracula s supernatural abilities within his old, dark ruined castle. The Civil War is the bloodiest war to date lasting five years, resulting in the deaths of about 600,000 people, and millions more were injured. They are critically endangered because of Hunting,Poaching, Climate changes, and Human impact are all causes of the population decrease. Human Impact is one of the causes the clouded leopard is going extinct. The black market sells the clouded leopards skulls and pelts for 5,700 dollars to vietnam each year. Smuggling is a big part of human impact because illegal markets smuggle 3,00 each year . Also the clouded leopard is getting killed by farmers because it eats the farmers livestock which is a decrease to the farmers livestock so they kill the leopard. Therefore Human Impact is a big problem . Climate change is another factor of the Clouded leopards extinction.By south asia, the weather has gotten a lot warmer which is why it s hard for the animal to repopulate. • 33. Swot Analysis Of Dick s Sporting Goods Essay Equity Analysis Dick s Sporting Goods has had reputable equitability consistently throughout the years. Investors have been able to regularly earn a respectable return on their investments. However, some of the valuation metrics of Dick s Sporting Goods are slightly troublesome. The price to earnings ratio, which is one of the most commonly used gauge of valuing equity securities, has decreased over the last 3 years and recently decreased 24% compared to the previous year, while their earnings per share has increased every year with the exception of the current year where it decreased minimally. This indicates that the market is lessening their expectations of the company. Another commonly used measure is the price to cash flow which eliminates the manipulation that is possible with net income that is used in the price to earnings ratio. This ratio also has decreased recently, thus also indicating a lessening in expectations in the market. The company has had adequate profitability over the previous years that have helped investors earn a pleasant return on their investments. The basic earnings per share and the diluted earnings per share have both increased over the last four years, but both decreased ever so slightly in the current year. This decrease in the earnings per share is most likely due to the considerable decrease in net income for the current year. But Dick s Sporting Goods has been managing their earnings per share through share buy backs which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Reflection On Human Sexuality This class was, potentially, the most enlightening out of any of our classes this semester. I tend to think about myself as incredibly open minded and well rounded when it comes to understanding the different aspects of human sexuality, but this class showed me how little I truly know. Listening to this class s guest speakers illuminated me to the depth of the BDSMcommunity that I had previously been blind to. While I had known some about BDSM from simply a fetish/paraphilia /technical standpoint, I wasn t aware that it also denoted such a rich community. I suppose that I could have expected that BDSM would have it s own community, but, since it is outside of my realm of sexuality, I was simplistic in the way that I understood BDSM as only a fetish. My simplistic thinking is made worse when I consider the fact that one of my closest friends was a professional submissive for a few years prior to coming to Reno, but I never asked many questions because I felt that it would be too personal or would show potential holes in my knowledge. This is why I am so glad that we had guest speakers for this topic in class. When I was reading this chapter in the Lehmiller book, I found it to be informative on a baseline knowledge level, but it definitely lost a lot of the depth and complexity of the fetishes and paraphilia themselves, and particularly the people that practice these aspects of sexuality. Having a guest speaker come in allows for the other students, as well as myself, to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Compare And Contrast Salem Witch Trials And Bacon s Rebellion The Salem Witch Trials and Bacon s Rebellion both reflected economic class tension in their respective colonies. The purpose of Bacon s rebellion was not to overthrow the social and political order of Virginia, but rather secure economic opportunity. During the second half century, Virginia s quality of life was improving; the maturation of apple orchards eliminated the consumption of dirty water, ships were bringing in new servants at a healthy time of year, and indentured servants were finally serving out their periods of indenture. Despite the improvement in quality of life, Virginia s economy was on rocky ground for the poor. The government was being controlled by men using it to gain wealth, leaving the colonist with low cost tobacco and high taxes. In addition to the economy forcing ordinary planters and merchants to lower ranks of society, there was no good land in Virginia for them to expand.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This left small farmers and merchants angry and poor. During this time Native Americans were attacking the frontier settlements of the colony. Nathaniel Bacon used this as leverage and requested that Governor Berkley issue retaliation on the Native Americans. Once Governor Berkley decided not to act, the angry farmers and merchants began to complain that the high taxes were going to Berkley rather than protecting the frontier from attacks. The rebels decided to take matters into their own hands and declared war on all Native Americans. The economic class separation between the rich government and poor farmers was so imbalanced that it created a rebellion. Bacon s Rebellion was deemed successful by the rebels because Native Americans abandoned their land, government became more responsive to the white farmers, and economic conditions ... If there is any other woman on this earth who in native aboriginal qualities is her superior, I know not where she is to be found. Although they were not the first group of women to have those thoughts, they were the first however to plan and carry out a plan on a large scale program. These women gathered within two days of their conversation and placed an announcement at the Seneca County Courier to call a convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of woman. These women were looking to change the world (Legacy 98) In 1861 a man named John Stuart Mill wrote The Subjection of Women which was said to have fueled the ideology of the Women s Rights Movement. Mill discussed the role of women in society during that time, pointing out how the patriarchy placed such an intense limit on what women could do. Patriarchy is a system in which the male race governs societal views or social organization marked by the supremacy of the father in the clan or family, the legal dependence of wives and children, and the reckoning of descent and inheritance in the male line; broadly: control by men of a disproportionately large share of power (Merriam Webster). • 42. My Observations At The Pacific Center Mall Essay Introduction: The mall is commonly known as a social hub where people of all ages can go to meet friends, go shopping, enjoy a meal, or simply relax. With this in mind, it was the perfect spot to observe, record, and analysis any cultural norms. For this observational report, I conducted my observations at the Pacific Centre Mall on Saturday October 8th, 2016 from 1:30 pm to 4:30pm. Since it was a Saturday just after lunch time, I assumed it was going to be busy and crowded. When I arrived, my assumptions were correct as I saw a lot of people and it was fairly packed. After reading Poe s The man of the crowd (1840), I was able to observe some themes from the story as well as other common characteristics which I was also to see in the mall while I underwent my observations. I was able to witness the isolation of an individual even while in a dense area. I was soon able to distinguish people based on their groups and actions like the narrator did in the story. I could also see the gathering of people and groups in certain areas or stores and the overwhelming presence of certain brands in the form of handheld devices and beverages, to shopping bags. Lastly, the appearance of the people circling the area over and over again. With the combinations of these themes, the mall created a dynamic where people of different backgrounds, sociability skills, and genders could blend cohesively. These could be things such as honesty, knowledge, diligence, and compassion. Values set up a foundation for the organization, something for their employees to follow and exemplify in their service to the general public. Employees can use their organization s values to see what their strengths are and where they needto improve. Values also provide a reference point when hiring new employees, helping employers to see which individuals are already living the organization s values.
