Characteristics Of Video Games
Whatś a sport? What makes up a Sport? People today believe that there are defining characteristics of
a sport, while others believe that any activity could possibly become a sport with the right format and
or qualities. By examining the similar characteristics of ¨regular¨ sports and video games, the fact that
people already use/train with video games in different situations, it is clear that video games should be
a sport too.
To be frank , video games already have so many similar characteristics to sports, that it wouldn t hurt
anybody to just allow them to become a real professional sport. Starting off with want video game
athletes do similar , these players play team based games with clear objectives that you have to follow
in a game. Equally important, they have just as many fans as regular sports. According to Sean
Gregory, The maker of League of Legends says more than 32 million global viewers tuned in to the
game s pro World Championship in October 2013, eclipsing the domestic audience of 26.3 million for
Game 7 of that year s NBA Finals. So video games have the same if not MORE fans than regular
sports.Video games also have clear rules, multiple tournaments worldwide like the league of legends
world championship, and similar broadcasting, advertising, and showings, When these big
tournaments are going on, ESPN, the most watched channel for PROFESSIONAL sports, will
broadcast it on T.V. So, when there is talk about how different video games and sports are, just

Malignant Hyperthermia Research Paper
Malignant hypertension is an inherited condition. It occurs when the patient has a severe reaction
caused by being exposed to certain drugs used as a part of the anesthesia for surgical procedures. It
can be fatal if it is not treated quickly. In most cases, there are no signs or symptoms until the reaction
occurs.
Signs and Symptoms The key symptoms of malignant hyperthermia are a dangerously high body
temperature, severe muscle spasms, rhabdomyolysis, acidosis and a fast heart rate.
Diagnosis and Treatment Genetic testing is available to determine if you are carrying the gene for
malignant hyperthermia. There is a 50 percent chance of the patient having the condition if they have
an immediate family member with malignant hyperthermia. Children with the condition are also

Malignant hyperthermia may not show itself during the first surgery. Yet, during future surgeries the
risk remains. In some rare occurrences, people with the condition have shown signs of a reaction after
intense exercise. The surgeon and anesthesiologist should be notified prior to surgery if the patient has
been diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia so that they can be prepared to treat the reaction if it
should occur. Treatment consists of a drug called dantrolene (Dantrium). Dantrolene is a skeletal
muscle relaxant. It is indicated for the prophylaxis treatment of malignant hyperthermia. It acts
directly on skeletal muscle, causing relaxation by decreasing calcium release from sarcoplasmic
reticulum in muscle cells. It also prevents the intense catabolic process associated with the condition.

The French Of French History
For the duration of French history, those in high positions of power have endeavored to create and
control culture in their personal interest. Countless rulers comprehended that the portrayal of power, in
contemporary conditions what would be described as an image, is an embodiment of authority in
itself. Cleverly, artists, artisans and intellectuals were employed as patrons on behalf of the ruling
forms of government, manufacturing pieces that declared the validity of their power, fortified their
supremacy, and intensified their stature. Often, the artistic urges of the artists behind the pieces were
suppressed, conflicting personal impulse with the goals of ruling government. The correlation between
power and politics, and thus the French cultured yielded through such a calculated relationship, is
tainted by the very progenitors of the culture itself. The so called achievements of French history are
exacted as much by dissension and censorship as much as they are exacted by collaboration and
patronage. In accordance with such an awareness of the true circumstances of French government and
its intimate relationship with culture, most notably in the absolutist monarchy under Louis XIV, art
becomes an invaluable resource meant to be utilized as a tool for the uncovering and understanding
the realities of the time period, and its correlation with the politics, economics and social structures of
late 17th century France (Leffler). By understanding the motives behind

Persuasive Essay On Confederate Monuments
The Civil War was a clouded era where judgement was ill evolved, however, it was a cultural turning
point in the history of our nation. Our nation hasn t always been the cultural mixing pot it is now, to
get to this point there were many things that had to be taken into consideration, and we need to keep
that in mind throughout history so we can be knowledgeable of how we got to where we are today. In
the past months, there has been a big spark in the debate of confederate monuments and if they should
be removed or be able to stay. I argue that confederate monuments should be preserved to be honest
about our nation s past.
What is a monument, and why are people still talking about a topic that took place over a century ago?
Well according to the Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary, monument means,
a statue, building, or other structure erected to commemorate a famous or notable person or event.
(Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary...) So, when we think about monuments sometimes we only
think of statues, but they are also buildings and they don t always honor just a person but sometimes
an event as a whole. Although some of the monuments may have been put up in vein, they all have a
story to tell about our history. Most confederate monuments were erected 50 years after the end of the
civil war, as veterans began to pass away. As the veterans of the war began to die, there was a renewed
push for reconciliation between North and South. (Davidson 2017) Also during the

Law and Corporate Managers Prof. Larry Franklin
Question Two A. (i) For refusal
In order to honor the LC, the Seller has to comply exactly with the terms of the letter of credit. There
are numerous typo errors in the LC and misspellings of the destination port and the Seller name, hence
only a waiver of the discrepancies from JFTC will enable Bank of China to pay the Seller. As long as
the waiver is not received, the BOC cannot make any payments. BOC has to state why it is not going
to pay. The seller reviewed the LC before the shipment of goods, so it is his mistake that he didn t
point out the discrepancies.

(ii) The five subsequent investors
IF the venture will be established as a LP, then the investors could limit their liability up to the amount
of their investment, therefore they will have one level of tax (they will not pay corporate tax).
However, the return on their investment is subject to the performance of the LP and the profits that
derive from it.
In case of corporation, the investors could invest their investment as shareholders with limited
liability. But they will have to pay two levels of taxes. In re the fixed return on the investment, they
could provide a loan to the corporation with a fixed rate of interest that will be guaranteed by the
company. (iii) The CEO manager
Bernie will prefer to act as a CEO in a Corporation with a board of directors that will direct him and
will borne the direct responsibility for the acts of the corporation. He will also have the responsibility
for the acts of the corporation. In order to attract Bernie to join the business, it is likely to offer him
shares or options to purchase the shares of the corporation. This is not possible under a LP.
B. I will recommend Jameson to choose Corporation for the following reasons: 1. He is not investing
money and he wants to be owner and involved in the business. The best for him is to be a shareholder
of the company and a director. His tax considerations in this case are not relevant. So there is no
advantage in LP.

Betrayed By Milan Kundera Analysis
In his excerpt from Testaments Betrayed, Milan Kundera claims that for one to be truly free, one must
have the right to privacy. He says that the curtain must remain closed between private and public and
that those curtain rippers are criminals. However, although I believe that privacy must be respected
and protected, there are times when the invasion of privacy may be necessary if a person s life or well
being is in immediate danger. Kundera claims that for a man to be free; that the curtain separating
these two worlds is not to be tampered with... I agree with this part of his argument; privacy is
something that has to be revered and enforced, as it is every man s right to have that freedom. My
stance on this is supported by the U.S Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a parent suspects that his or her child is suffering from depression or is involved in hazardous
activity like drugs, alcohol, or a bad relationship, I believe should be allowed to violate the child s
privacy. By simply looking through the kid s phone or computer, a parent can find an underlying
problem that the child would have otherwise not have told them. A parent must protect their child
from anything that could harm them, even if it s protecting the children from themselves, and the only
way to do this (if the child refuses to confide) is to deliberately invade their privacy. As it happens,
this violation of a child s privacy also occurs in a medical environment. If a psychologist s patient is
exhibiting either suicidal tendencies or is under danger of any form of abuse, the doctor is required by
law to make it known to either authorities or the parental guardians that their child is in danger. These
actions are a direct infringement of a person s freedom that Kundera will readily disagree with, but if
the curtain that keeps privacy undisclosed remains tightly shut, these cases may never be uncovered
and these lives might not be

Compromise Dbq
Americans in the early nineteenth century had been, or atleast seemed to be very desent at solving
their political problems with compromise. Compromise had been less and less effective at settling
these politcal disputes the closer to 1900 it became. It seemed to be revativly impossible by 1860. This
impossibity arouse from the North and the South adpoting impervious opinions about politics and
slavery that heavily opposed each other. Senator Henry Clay, the Father of Compromise clearly stated
and believed that it was utterly impractical that South Carolina ever wated to suceceed from the
United States(Document A). However, in reality they did due to Abraham Lincoln s message stating
that slavery will be confined to where is exists was the last straw and made South Carolina want to do
just that. Already the Northern and Southern oppinions start to part and harden. ... Show more content

slavery will not be legal. Without slaves the southern economy is basicily nonexistant. The opinions
reguarding slavery are becoming exact oposites of each other. For the purpose of restoring tranquillity
to the public mind, your committee respectfully recommend the adoption of the following (Document
C), that any bills or laws that include slavery are thrown out. No new bills or laws reguarding the
subject be submitted. The North wasn t about to allow the South run free with slavery, even if it would

Under Western Eyes by Mohanty
In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women
contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as an
undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use analytics
strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist assumptions of
sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist relations between the
north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). She criticises Western feminist discourse for constructing the third
world woman as a homogeneous powerless and vulnerable group, while women in the North still
represent the modern and liberated woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful
attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple realties
that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and Marchand
1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is defined in
binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women). This is a
consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the reinforcement of the
binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming that women are a already
constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is looked upon as something that
can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also produces an assumption about the
average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast to the educated, modern Western
women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the assumption that the third world
woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty is making an important point when
emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications (Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on
historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes to important insights on how different contexts
influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact that much of the discourse of

Essay about John Keats s Ode to Indolence
John Keats has many memorable and distinct poems. He is well known for his ability to write and
adored by many. Ode on Indolence is a poem that can be relatable to its readers due to its idea of how
indolence interferes with life s opportunities, in particular the three mentioned in the poem, love,
ambition and poesy. Keats refers to these three figures as ghosts (51) therefore insinuating that they
once lived, but now they are mere figments of energy and air. Keats poem six stanzas of ten lines each
in iambic pentameter, he begins his poem with a passage from Matthew 6:28, They toil not, neither do
they spin , he uses this as reference for describing the three figures of the poem. In other, simpler
words, he is saying that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keats identifies the three shadows in the third stanza labeling them as love, who was a maid, ambition,
pale and watchful and the last of the three shadows being poesy, which the speaker identifies as his
demon as well as his love. He also identifies them as maidens, each mild in their own way. Halfway
through the poem, the readers are shown three things that the speaker considers to be his maidens. He
shows his love individually for each of them as well as his dislike that they are there to take away his
peaceful summer, a metaphor that represents that warm weather is about to disappear, or that a
vacation is coming to an end.
The fourth stanza represents the speaker s sudden will for the maidens, as they were all he wanted,
until he decides on reasons as to why he may not need them. This only happens after the speaker
addresses that they faded, and, forsooth, I wanted wings! (31) He gives reason for love and ambition
to be given up on but cannot find a reason for poesy, as it is his favorite of the three. In the fifth stanza
the speaker understands that the figures have no influence on him and indolence is simply the way to
keep, he refers to them and says Oh shadows, twas a time to bid farewell! / Upon your skirts had
fallen no tears of mine (49 50). In the final

The Once And Future King Analysis
Good ideas exist everywhere, but the bad news is that they can be used for the wrong purposes. Even
in The Once and Future King by T. H. White, this proposition eventually comes to pass by King
Arthur. King Arthur s idea for the Knights of the Round Table soon crumbled over time because he
became so entangled in preserving his idea that his optimism shielded him from the reality of what
was truly going on with his kingdom, knights, and the war. By the beginning of Arthur s reign, he
already started to fight wars against the opposing kingdom of, Orkney. Gawaine mentioned in the
story he and his brothers told each other that these wars had originated from what King Uther had
done to Orkney in the past. Pendragon had killed the Count of Cornwall

Terrigal-Coastal Management
Part 1 The geographical processes that are occurring at the Terrigal beach area are: * Erosion, which is
effecting: * The Skillion, mainly the headland and rock platform, which is part of a preserved area of
land known as the Haven which also contains the rugby oval. The man type of erosion that affects this
is from the sea. * The sand dunes on the beaches. This area is affected by wind erosion as well as the
tides if adequate vegetative cover is not present. The main type of erosion, from the sea, takes the sand
from the sand dunes as well as the rest of the beach in a rip. The sand is then pulled out to sea where it
forms a sand bar. On calmer days, the sand is brought back to the beach. * Storm damage can affect

Terrigal Lagoon Bushcare have been largely successful in keeping the lagoons around Terrigal
ecosystems. Their actions have helped the native plants compete with the introduced species. * What
individuals have been doing to help and promote sustainability: * Stopped building on dangerous
areas, usually sand dunes. * Started various community groups in order to help maintain and protect
various aspects of Terrigal and encouraging others to join. * Insuring all property owned if living in an

Carrabelle Essay
Carrabelle is a quaint town that prides itself on allowing visitors to experience Old Florida . It is an
ideal place to visit if you are looking for someplace that is off the beaten path and not congested with
lots of other tourists. This town lies at the convergence of three rivers, so it provides ample
opportunities for fishing, boating, and spending lazy days at the two local beaches.
Location
Carrabelle is located in Florida s panhandle. It is slightly southwest of Tallahassee and east of
Apalachicola near the mouth of the Carrabelle River, which is fed by the Gulf of Mexico. Other
bodies of order that help to define Carrabelle are St. George Sound to the south and the Crooked and
New Rivers to the north. The entirety of Carrabelle is a mere 5.6 square miles, 4.5 of which is land
and the remaining portion (about 20%) is water.
Beaches
Since there is so much water surrounding the town of Carrabelle, it stands to reason that there will be
great beaches there as well. Carrabelle does not disappoint in this area. The town is proud of its
waterfront and welcomes visitors to come and experience everything this beach town has to offer.

why your ability to recall phone numbers is not as good as it was 50 years ago. Or maybe this is a

How Your Child Acts Essay
How Your Child Acts
First of all I think that in the back of every parents mind are questions concerning their child s future.
Like will it be a doctor, a lawyer, or the next president of the United
States. But with these questions there are also more questions that are not discussed freely like what if
it is a bad child or it is uncontrollable? And will it do drugs or try alcohol and smoke cigarettes?
Another question that might be in the back of a parents mind is about its child s sexual orientation. I

question would not be in the back of my mind but in the front. I know that any parent and including

There was never another girl there except for herself. And I guess she felt comfortable hanging around

mattered. On the other hand there was my neighbors son. This boy was the total opposite of the girl.
He never played with boys but he was always around girls. He was always teased by the other boys
including me, but we were all young back then. But looking back at this, it s weird to notice that we

I think that the boys parents were more upset about the little boys playmates than anyone else. The

and pop warner football. Whenever the father saw us boys playing football or basketball on the street,
he would literally drag the boy out of the house to make him play with us. The little boy would be in

1.2 Benefits
As quoted directly from the website (How to teach mind mapping and how to make a mind map) the
authors have listed the following as key benefits when using Mind mapping in the educational
environment.
Mind mapping can
Help students brainstorm and explore any idea, concept, or problem
Facilitate better understanding of relationships and connections between ideas and concepts
Make it easy to communicate new ideas and thought processes
Allow students to easily recall information
Help students take notes and plan tasks
Make it easy to organize ideas and concepts
David Kelly who is the founder of IDEO explains that mind maps allow him to associate freely and
that it is an excellent tool to prompt you to ask questions, exposing relationships between previously
unforseen concepts (Kelley 2006).
Quoted directly from (Kelley 2006) David also goes on to say, The cool thing is that you allow

What Is The Similarities Between Arrival And Space Odyssey
astronauts and disciples have nothing in common. However, it is noticeable that each group contains a
betrayer. This supports the religious analogy.
Even more religious symbols can be found. The black hole is surrounded by bright yellow light. This
light orbits the black hole along two different axes which gives it the appearance of two halos. This
gives the black hole a celestial connotation. Dr. Romilly explains that human beings cannot
understand the singularity of a black hole because it lies beyond the horizon, a place humans cannot
reach. In some religions celestial beings, like gods, dwell in heaven, a place normal humans cannot
enter.
Later Cooper enters the black hole and is transported to the Tesseract, a fifth dimensional space
appearing to him as a three dimensional one. Cooper assumes that it was created by a higher advanced

Kubrick s and Villeneuve s strength is the framing. In Space Odyssey an enormous number of scenes
that show central perspective can be seen. A very strong scene is the one in which David and Frank are
inside the space pod and talking about HAL. This shot indicates a vanishing point in the center of the
frame. Kubrick enhances the depth by dividing the frame in a foreground and background; David and
Frank are in the foreground whereas HAL is in the background (cf. Kargl 134). Kubrick often uses the
central perspective to create additional depth. Although the persons and objects that are filmed by a
camera are three dimensional the screen on which the film is shown is a flat surface. Therefore,
Kubrick uses certain perspectives to enhance the three dimensional effect. Villeneuve on the other
hand uses the perspective to guide the audience. A lot of Arrival s scenes show guiding lines that lead
to a vanishing point. Sometimes the camera pans to that vanishing point. Sometimes he guides the
audience towards the object of

In the Yale Center for British Art, one can find a beautiful map titled: The Description of Jarsey a(nn)o

in an exhibition of the map, this is from the collection of George Legge, first Baron Dartmouth;
previously in the English Royal map collection (Yale Center, From the Collection). One might wonder
why a map with such extensive detail would be in the hands of the Royal Collection, and thus why it

This could be a major factor in why the island was so heavily contested for hundreds of years; the
island is arguably a great launching point for the French Navy to attack the British. With
communication during this time period being relatively slow given the lack of modern technology, it
would have been easy for the island to be captured by the French without mainland Britain
immediately knowing. Thus, there was a great incentive on the part of the British to keep this island
well defended so as to protect it from any potential French attacks. Such an assertion can be bolstered
not only by the fact that Queen Elizabeth I decided to build a castle off the southern coast of the island

Understanding Emily Grierson s Characteristics
At first, when I read this story it was a little difficult to read and understand. Because it jumps around
in terms of chronology so it s not a linear and not easy to follow in terms of its timeline. However, the
narrative structure is very important to understand the character of Emily Grierson because she
remains kind of stuck in time. So this is one of the characteristics or key features of the character will
be the fact that she doesn t really understand and allow time to the past. She remains kind of stuck in
an older traditional way of the old South while the rest of society keep moving forward. Basically, she
becomes a sort of representation, almost the symbol of the traditional old Southern ways. Interesting
that the townsmen

Holden connects to people and more importantly items of his inability to face growing up, this
portrays that Holden suffers from adolescent disillusionment. He was always happy as a kid so he still
keeps those memories close to him in his thoughts. Holden wants to utilize his memories as an
advantage to become a teacher to those who are young, innocent, and naive to protect the children
from facing reality. Holden wants to portray that he does not want other people going down his rocky
path so others won t have to suffer as well as he did. Throughout the novel, Holden explains his
journey to New York and the events that occurred there. In the beginning of the novel, the readers are
informed of his dead brother, Allie. Allie is Holden s incentive to try and create a greater impact on
others lives since he could not do the same for his brother. It was then too late after, Allie died of
leukemia. Holden couldn t thoroughly form a childhood bond with his brother during the limited time
that he had. Holden strives to protect all innocence because he couldn t do the same for those he cared
about. Holden portrays that he does not want other kids to repeat his mistakes during the duration of ...

The Effect of Summer School on Rita in Educating Rita by Willy Russell
Of course; you don t do Blake without doing innocence and experience, do y?
When Frank explains to Rita that after summer school they will study William Blake, Rita says that
she has already studied Blake and implies in such a way that she almost disgraces Frank. Before
summer school Rita has only been taught Frank and has only learnt his ideas, when she gains her own
confidence she then challenges Frank on his views to do with poetry by telling him about William
Blake. This confidence reflects the effect which summer school ultimately had upon Rita.

After going to Summer School Rita herself has changed because before summer school she was just a

Rita feels now that she has been educated and is now able to relate and have meaningful conversations
with people.
I think the first question was about Chekhov; coz y know I m dead familiar with Chekhov now
Rita s confidence has become more obvious because dead surprised has now become dead familiar
this shows that Rita has now become a different person.
Before Frank had met Rita he was unhappy with his life he was drinking a lot, bored of lecturing and
teaching so he decided he would so some work with the Open University and of course Rita was his
first student.

After Rita has been to Summer School, she treats Frank differently. She has realised that she doesn t

The Giver Personal Response Essay
Can you imagine not having any emotions or not being able to express your feelings to one another?
In Lois Lowry s book, The Giver, Jonas and his utopian community don t have any memories or
emotions. When Jonas was chosen to be the receiver, at the ceremony of twelves, he receives all the
memories that none of the community will understand. The Giver transfers memories to Jonas like
color, love, and pain. Throughout receiving memories, Jonas starts to question the people that don t
have these things, and this is where the theme Life without emotions is not a life worth living comes
into play. Throughout the this novel, the most common topic is being released. Being released means

After Jonas receives a memory of Christmas and love, he figured that his parents would love him just
like in the memory. Another line from the novel is, Do you love me? ... Then father gave a little
chuckle. Jonas. You, of all people. Precision of language, please! ... Do you understand why it is
inappropriate to use a word like love ? ( ) Mother asked. Jonas was in awe because he would ve
expected a meaningful answer. This line matters because if the community did have emotion they
would answer something like, Yes! Of course I do. I love you to the moon and back. In this utopian
community, there are birth mothers instead of traditional parents who fall in love. If this idealistic
community had emotion, there would be no birthmothers. Since Jonas has feelings, he thought that
love was the best feeling in the whole world. Throughout the this whole novel it was clear that the
community had no feelings or emotion. So, the theme Life without emotions is not a life worth living
really shines through The Giver. At the end of the novel, the Giver and Jonas made plan. The plan was
that Jonas had to leave the community and everyone will receive all the memories that Jonas has.
What do think everyone would do if suddenly the people in your community started to have no
emotions? Would they be lost like Jonas s community if they didn t have the

Cell Theory
1. Cell Theory is an explanation that says everything is made of cells. It continues on to say that those
cells came from preexisting cells. Cell Theory is a theory because it is a frame worked explanation of
an observation made by many biologists like Anar Van Leeuwenhoek. Van Leeuwenoek studied plant
stems, pond water, and gathered a conclusion that generally, all of those things are made of cells.
Other biologists like Louis Pasteur added onto this idea that all organisms are composed of cells. A
theory is also composed of two components; a sequence of patterns in the world and the thing or
catalyst that is responsible for the pattern. The sequence of the pattern in Cell theory is that every
organism in the world are made up of cells. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. A salt crystal dropped into a beaker of water becomes smaller and eventually seems to disappear.
However, the same salt crystal remains intact at the bottom of a beaker of octane because Sodium
Chloride is ionic and would get attracted to the water. The octane is hydrophobic and has nothing for
the salt crystal to bond with. The water is polar and hydrophobic, which gives the salt the ability for
the oxygen atoms in the water to be attracted to the Sodium ion, and the hydrogen atoms to the
chloride ion.
4. Molecules with carbon carbon bonds have more potential energy and lower entropy than carbon
dioxide because the carbon to carbon bonds are held together loosely. Because the carbon to carbon
bonds are held loosely together, the bond has low entropy, high potential energy, and more usable
energy. The Carbon dioxide is held tightly together, has high entropy, and will have low potential
energy because the charges will be attracted to the oxygen. This results in the carbon dioxide to have

George Orwell s Emphasis Of The Two Minutes Hate
The Reason Behind George Orwell s Emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate Many technological
advancements have been made throughout the years, and almost all people have access to some form
of technology. In 1984 this is also true with technological advancements being made to their television
and broadcasting systems. The technological advancements made to these items is the reason for
George Orwell including the Two Minutes Hate in his book. He puts a lot of emphasis on this idea in
the beginning of the book, but this emphasis is not only to show his predictions for technology. The
reason for emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate in 1984 is the timeframe when George Orwell wrote it,
and his commentary on the downsides of technology. The time frame that this book was written fits
the reason as to why he is so vast in describing technology, as the television was just making its
appearance when this book was written (1984). The idea that a television could do all of the things
that it does in this book would have been mind blowing to the population. The fact that technology
like this was new allowed Orwell to make any prediction that he wanted to without being shot down,
because there was no one who would have been able to prove him wrong. The Two Minutes Hate
allowed him to express how he felt about technologies future, while still being able to successfully
show a totalitarian leader. The timeframe this book was written in is a main component as to why
Orwell emphasizes the

Utilisation Des Nouvelles Technologies Dans L Industrie
SpecialSection{Introduction Générale}
dynamiques linéaires [BER 82, BAK 85, ABD 03, SIL 05, CLA 05].

Countless people today, especially youths, have a hard time fitting in with everyone else and think
they need to live and act like a conformist. Many are afraid to express their individuality and stand out
because of the fear of being looked upon as weird, different, or even freakish. The student s at Mica
High first looked at Stargirl in this way, but once they became used to her presence, they realised how
great her spirit really was. Even though in the middle of the story they started to reject her, at the end
she leaves a lasting impression on them all, especially Leo. She dressed in what she wanted to and not
what was in style, she had a pet rat that she carried with her everywhere, and she sang and played the
ukulele whenever she felt like it. There s a lot of pressure that takes place socially in school, but
through every little thing that Stargirl did, reader s can gain the confidence to be themselves and not
care what anyone else thinks. Someone will eventually love them for who they are. There is a quote
from the book that says: She laughed when there was no joke. She danced when there was no music...
She was elusive. She was today. She was tomorrow... We did not know what to make of her. In our
minds we tried to pin her to a corkboard like a butterfly, but the pin merely went through and away she
flew. This is saying that Stargirl was true to herself no matter what. She tried to fit in at one point, but
she learned that doing that would never work and that no matter what, society couldn t force her to be
anything different from herself. This is the main lesson of the whole story and it s what makes the
book great readers can take away something good to relate to their own

Squeezed Persimmons By Yiyun Li

Assignment 1: Li Essay
Draft 1, 3 March 2015
Squeezed Persimmon The short story Persimmons was written by Yiyun Li. Li was born in 1972 in
Beijing and moved to the United States in 1996 to go to college. She originally studied immunology at
the University of Iowa, but after taking a writing course she started writing fiction. She earned her
master of fine arts in 2005 with a focus on fiction (Yiyun). Persimmons is a short story told by a group
of older men sitting around a tree. They are in the middle of a drought, so their crops and animals are
dying, and they are left with nothing to do. They tell the story of Lao Da, the protagonist of the story.
After his son was murdered, Lao Da planned revenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term Lao Da means the boss or the leader of the group ( Lao ). The narrators show their respect to
Lao Da by calling him Lao Da and treating him as their leader, even though he is a murderer. The
reason as to why these soft persimmons resort to violence is because the county officials treat the
lower class people, such as farmers, like shit. These soft persimmons are eventually squeezed too hard
and can t take it anymore. If the people of the town were treated fairly, they would not have to resort
to such violence that Lao Da resorted to. Before Lao Da took revenge, he tried as much as he possibly
could to seek justice for what happened to his son. He tried multiple riots with his fellows, but the
county seats just pushed him aside and treated him as if he was a dog. After that he decided to wait
until New Year s Eve, when everyone would be at their own house to individually murder the
seventeen county officials, starting with the one who murdered his son. The narrators seem to believe
that the county officials Squeezed him enough for fun, and that they Squeezed a murder out of it (Li

The history of choreography is also very important Any choreography that seems new, fresh and

The Good Foot was the first freestyle dance that incorporated moves involving drops and spins, and

the first question people ask when they see it is: Where did these kids learn to dance like that? To
many people, this dance seems to have come out of nowhere. But like everything else, Breakin did

through the narrative of a frog trying to save Japan from a worm that will cause an even more

Frog appears and explains that the fight took place in his imagination which brings up magical realism
again and questions reality. The fact that Frog is exhausted and wounded shows the reality of the event
through the circumstance of the frog explaining that Katagiri did help by leading the way with a foot
powered generator. Frog explains that he is unable to defeat the worm but held it off in a draw enough
to prevent the earthquake. This reality is quickly questions by the fact that frog tells him that the battle
took place in the area of imagination. This magical realism is exemplified at the end when Frog slips
into a coma and the disturbing image of boils popping and maggots and worms crawling out of the
body. The insects fill the hospital room and Katagiri screams, but when the nurse turns on the light,
the insects and frog are suddenly gone. Katagiri is delirious but he believes that frog sacrificed himself
to save Tokyo from the earthquake. Alex Bates might use this sacrifice as evidence for his claim, but I
would argue that, again, the frog s representation at the end while he is disintegrated into insects,
shows the rejuvenation and transformation of Katagiri. Katagiri is able to rest easy after this happens
as he is satisfied to have participated in such a glorious battle after having spent his life being boring.

My Learning Experience With A Radical Shake Up
Significant learning begins with a radical shake up
I grew up, together with my four siblings, at a small village in the Philippines. Everyone there knew
each other. In those days, I did not really think that I learned something meaningful that would affect
my life, but now I could say that I have a different perspective on learning . I ve realized so many
things from my experiences and I have seen life in a completely different perspective.
Growing up in a developing country gave me an opportunity to value things which I gave little
importance to. When you want to achieve anywhere in the world you need to be properly educated.
Meaningful learning occurs when students are faced in a problem posing environment.
Most Filipino families often define education as an investment placed on their children for them to
continuously grow and pursue success on their line of interest by achieving higher education. My
learning experiences in the Philippines are completely different from my learning experiences here in
the United States. In the article entitled Play Deficit, the author states that Children there spend more
time at their studies than US children, and they score higher on standardized international tests (Gray
6). Indeed, most of the students in the Philippines dedicate their life to learning and gaining more
knowledge. High school students have to go to school early. Classes start as early as seven or seven

331 ≤ 330 Although it is very close, this combination of TV s and refrigerators will not fit in the truck.
Therefore, the statement is false. My second question asks if the truck will hold 51 refrigerators and

the truck. Now I have to figure out a minimum or maximum allowance of cargo to be found. The

maximum number of TV s that could also be delivered on the same truck? To find the answer, I will
plug 60 into the x place of my inequality and solve for y. Is my inequality replace x with 60 multiply,
then subtract 180 from both sides This is the maximum amount of TV s that can be shipped with the
refrigerators. For the second scenario, the Burbank Buy More decides to have a television sale so they
change their order to include at least 200 TV s. I need to figure out the maximum number of
refrigerators that can be shipped in the same truck. I start with the same inequality. Replace y with 200

People today believe that there are defining characteristics of a sport, while others believe that any activity could possibly become a sport with the right format and or qualities. By examining the similar characteristics of ¨regular¨ sports and video games, the fact that people already use/train with video games in different situations, it is clear that video games should be a sport too. To be frank , video games already have so many similar characteristics to sports, that it wouldn t hurt anybody to just allow them to become a real professional sport. Starting off with want video game athletes do similar , these players play team based games with clear objectives that you have to follow in a game. Equally important, they have just as many fans as regular sports. • 3. Malignant Hyperthermia Research Paper Malignant hypertension is an inherited condition. It occurs when the patient has a severe reaction caused by being exposed to certain drugs used as a part of the anesthesia for surgical procedures. It can be fatal if it is not treated quickly. In most cases, there are no signs or symptoms until the reaction occurs. Signs and Symptoms The key symptoms of malignant hyperthermia are a dangerously high body temperature, severe muscle spasms, rhabdomyolysis, acidosis and a fast heart rate. Diagnosis and Treatment Genetic testing is available to determine if you are carrying the gene for malignant hyperthermia. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Malignant hyperthermia may not show itself during the first surgery. Yet, during future surgeries the risk remains. In some rare occurrences, people with the condition have shown signs of a reaction after intense exercise. The surgeon and anesthesiologist should be notified prior to surgery if the patient has been diagnosed with malignant hyperthermia so that they can be prepared to treat the reaction if it should occur. Treatment consists of a drug called dantrolene (Dantrium). Dantrolene is a skeletal muscle relaxant. It is indicated for the prophylaxis treatment of malignant hyperthermia. It acts directly on skeletal muscle, causing relaxation by decreasing calcium release from sarcoplasmic reticulum in muscle cells. It also prevents the intense catabolic process associated with the condition. • 4. The French Of French History For the duration of French history, those in high positions of power have endeavored to create and control culture in their personal interest. Countless rulers comprehended that the portrayal of power, in contemporary conditions what would be described as an image, is an embodiment of authority in itself. Cleverly, artists, artisans and intellectuals were employed as patrons on behalf of the ruling forms of government, manufacturing pieces that declared the validity of their power, fortified their supremacy, and intensified their stature. Often, the artistic urges of the artists behind the pieces were suppressed, conflicting personal impulse with the goals of ruling government. The correlation between power and politics, and thus the French cultured yielded through such a calculated relationship, is tainted by the very progenitors of the culture itself. The so called achievements of French history are exacted as much by dissension and censorship as much as they are exacted by collaboration and patronage. In accordance with such an awareness of the true circumstances of French government and its intimate relationship with culture, most notably in the absolutist monarchy under Louis XIV, art becomes an invaluable resource meant to be utilized as a tool for the uncovering and understanding the realities of the time period, and its correlation with the politics, economics and social structures of late 17th century France (Leffler). • 5. Persuasive Essay On Confederate Monuments The Civil War was a clouded era where judgement was ill evolved, however, it was a cultural turning point in the history of our nation. Our nation hasn t always been the cultural mixing pot it is now, to get to this point there were many things that had to be taken into consideration, and we need to keep that in mind throughout history so we can be knowledgeable of how we got to where we are today. In the past months, there has been a big spark in the debate of confederate monuments and if they should be removed or be able to stay. I argue that confederate monuments should be preserved to be honest about our nation s past. What is a monument, and why are people still talking about a topic that took place over a century ago? Well according to the Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary, monument means, a statue, building, or other structure erected to commemorate a famous or notable person or event. (Cambridge Academic Content Dictionary...) So, when we think about monuments sometimes we only think of statues, but they are also buildings and they don t always honor just a person but sometimes an event as a whole. Although some of the monuments may have been put up in vein, they all have a story to tell about our history. Most confederate monuments were erected 50 years after the end of the civil war, as veterans began to pass away. As the veterans of the war began to die, there was a renewed push for reconciliation between North and South. (Davidson 2017) Also during the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Business Law Final Exam. Kellogg Business School Law and Corporate Managers Prof. Larry Franklin Question Two A. (i) For refusal In order to honor the LC, the Seller has to comply exactly with the terms of the letter of credit. There are numerous typo errors in the LC and misspellings of the destination port and the Seller name, hence only a waiver of the discrepancies from JFTC will enable Bank of China to pay the Seller. As long as the waiver is not received, the BOC cannot make any payments. BOC has to state why it is not going to pay. The seller reviewed the LC before the shipment of goods, so it is his mistake that he didn t point out the discrepancies. In case of corporation, the investors could invest their investment as shareholders with limited liability. But they will have to pay two levels of taxes. He will also have the responsibility for the acts of the corporation. In order to attract Bernie to join the business, it is likely to offer him shares or options to purchase the shares of the corporation. This is not possible under a LP. B. I will recommend Jameson to choose Corporation for the following reasons: 1. He is not investing money and he wants to be owner and involved in the business. The best for him is to be a shareholder of the company and a director. His tax considerations in this case are not relevant. So there is no advantage in LP. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Betrayed By Milan Kundera Analysis In his excerpt from Testaments Betrayed, Milan Kundera claims that for one to be truly free, one must have the right to privacy. He says that the curtain must remain closed between private and public and that those curtain rippers are criminals. However, although I believe that privacy must be respected and protected, there are times when the invasion of privacy may be necessary if a person s life or well being is in immediate danger. Kundera claims that for a man to be free; that the curtain separating these two worlds is not to be tampered with... I agree with this part of his argument; privacy is something that has to be revered and enforced, as it is every man s right to have that freedom. My stance on this is supported by the U.S Constitution. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a parent suspects that his or her child is suffering from depression or is involved in hazardous activity like drugs, alcohol, or a bad relationship, I believe should be allowed to violate the child s privacy. By simply looking through the kid s phone or computer, a parent can find an underlying problem that the child would have otherwise not have told them. A parent must protect their child from anything that could harm them, even if it s protecting the children from themselves, and the only way to do this (if the child refuses to confide) is to deliberately invade their privacy. As it happens, this violation of a child s privacy also occurs in a medical environment. If a psychologist s patient is exhibiting either suicidal tendencies or is under danger of any form of abuse, the doctor is required by law to make it known to either authorities or the parental guardians that their child is in danger. These actions are a direct infringement of a person s freedom that Kundera will readily disagree with, but if the curtain that keeps privacy undisclosed remains tightly shut, these cases may never be uncovered and these lives might not be ... • 8. Compromise Dbq Americans in the early nineteenth century had been, or atleast seemed to be very desent at solving their political problems with compromise. Compromise had been less and less effective at settling these politcal disputes the closer to 1900 it became. It seemed to be revativly impossible by 1860. This impossibity arouse from the North and the South adpoting impervious opinions about politics and slavery that heavily opposed each other. Senator Henry Clay, the Father of Compromise clearly stated and believed that it was utterly impractical that South Carolina ever wated to suceceed from the United States(Document A). However, in reality they did due to Abraham Lincoln s message stating that slavery will be confined to where is exists was the last straw and made South Carolina want to do just that. The North is branding all southern slave owner as Man Stealers and wish to abolish slavery. The North states that laws that are now in force, admitting the right of slavery are, before God , Utterly null and void (Document B). This is essentially telling the nation that the southern states are unholy, and slavery will not be legal. Without slaves the southern economy is basicily nonexistant. The opinions reguarding slavery are becoming exact oposites of each other. For the purpose of restoring tranquillity to the public mind, your committee respectfully recommend the adoption of the following (Document C), that any bills or laws that include slavery are thrown out. • 9. Under Western Eyes by Mohanty In this text Mohanty argues that contemporary western feminist writing on Third World women contributes to the reproduction of colonial discourses where women in the South are represented as an undifferentiated other . Mohanty examines how liberal and socialist feminist scholarship use analytics strategies that creates an essentialist construction of the category woman, universalist assumptions of sexist oppression and how this contributes to the perpetuation of colonialist relations between the north and south(Mohanty 1991:55). She criticises Western feminist discourse for constructing the third world woman as a homogeneous powerless and vulnerable group, while women in the North still represent the modern and liberated woman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She makes an important point when trying to go beyond the female (otherness), by paying careful attention to differences among women themselves, and by putting emphasize on the multiple realties that women faces, and by that trying to uncover universalist interpretations (Parpart and Marchand 1995:6). She reveals the inadequacy of binary categories by showing us how power is defined in binary terms, between the people who have (men) and the people who do not (women). This is a consequence of seeing women as a homogenous group, and contributes to the reinforcement of the binary division between men and women (Mohanty 1991:64). By assuming that women are a already constituted group with the same experiences and interests, gender is looked upon as something that can be applied cross cultures (Mohanty 1991:54), and it also produces an assumption about the average third world woman as poor and uneducated, in contrast to the educated, modern Western women (Mohanty 1991:56). Implicit in the binary analytic lies the assumption that the third world woman only can be liberated through western rationality. Mohanty is making an important point when emphasising the need to challenge these objectifications (Udayagiri 1995:163). Mohantys emphasis on historical, spatial and cultural specificity contributes to important insights on how different contexts influence on women s lives, and challenges the fact that much of the discourse of ... • 10. Essay about John Keats s Ode to Indolence John Keats has many memorable and distinct poems. He is well known for his ability to write and adored by many. Ode on Indolence is a poem that can be relatable to its readers due to its idea of how indolence interferes with life s opportunities, in particular the three mentioned in the poem, love, ambition and poesy. Keats refers to these three figures as ghosts (51) therefore insinuating that they once lived, but now they are mere figments of energy and air. Keats poem six stanzas of ten lines each in iambic pentameter, he begins his poem with a passage from Matthew 6:28, They toil not, neither do they spin , he uses this as reference for describing the three figures of the poem. In other, simpler words, he is saying that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Keats identifies the three shadows in the third stanza labeling them as love, who was a maid, ambition, pale and watchful and the last of the three shadows being poesy, which the speaker identifies as his demon as well as his love. He also identifies them as maidens, each mild in their own way. Halfway through the poem, the readers are shown three things that the speaker considers to be his maidens. He shows his love individually for each of them as well as his dislike that they are there to take away his peaceful summer, a metaphor that represents that warm weather is about to disappear, or that a vacation is coming to an end. The fourth stanza represents the speaker s sudden will for the maidens, as they were all he wanted, until he decides on reasons as to why he may not need them. This only happens after the speaker addresses that they faded, and, forsooth, I wanted wings! (31) He gives reason for love and ambition to be given up on but cannot find a reason for poesy, as it is his favorite of the three. In the fifth stanza the speaker understands that the figures have no influence on him and indolence is simply the way to keep, he refers to them and says Oh shadows, twas a time to bid farewell! / Upon your skirts had fallen no tears of mine (49 50). White, this proposition eventually comes to pass by King Arthur. King Arthur s idea for the Knights of the Round Table soon crumbled over time because he became so entangled in preserving his idea that his optimism shielded him from the reality of what was truly going on with his kingdom, knights, and the war. By the beginning of Arthur s reign, he already started to fight wars against the opposing kingdom of, Orkney. This supports the religious analogy. Even more religious symbols can be found. The black hole is surrounded by bright yellow light. This light orbits the black hole along two different axes which gives it the appearance of two halos. This gives the black hole a celestial connotation. Dr. Romilly explains that human beings cannot understand the singularity of a black hole because it lies beyond the horizon, a place humans cannot reach. In some religions celestial beings, like gods, dwell in heaven, a place normal humans cannot enter. Kubrick enhances the depth by dividing the frame in a foreground and background; David and Frank are in the foreground whereas HAL is in the background (cf. Kargl 134). Kubrick often uses the central perspective to create additional depth. This could be a major factor in why the island was so heavily contested for hundreds of years; the island is arguably a great launching point for the French Navy to attack the British. With communication during this time period being relatively slow given the lack of modern technology, it would have been easy for the island to be captured by the French without mainland Britain immediately knowing. Thus, there was a great incentive on the part of the British to keep this island well defended so as to protect it from any potential French attacks. Such an assertion can be bolstered not only by the fact that Queen Elizabeth I decided to build a castle off the southern coast of the island in 1594, which could have been done to provide ample protection of the south coastline, but also the production of the map itself in 1600 which is now held by the Yale Center for British Art. There are many features of this map that should be acknowledged. First, there are twelve parishes noted. Within these parishes, there are 2057 households noted, all distributed within the map by town. George Orwell s Emphasis Of The Two Minutes Hate The Reason Behind George Orwell s Emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate Many technological advancements have been made throughout the years, and almost all people have access to some form of technology. In 1984 this is also true with technological advancements being made to their television and broadcasting systems. The technological advancements made to these items is the reason for George Orwell including the Two Minutes Hate in his book. He puts a lot of emphasis on this idea in the beginning of the book, but this emphasis is not only to show his predictions for technology. The reason for emphasis of the Two Minutes Hate in 1984 is the timeframe when George Orwell wrote it, and his commentary on the downsides of technology. The time frame that this book was written fits the reason as to why he is so vast in describing technology, as the television was just making its appearance when this book was written (1984). The idea that a television could do all of the things that it does in this book would have been mind blowing to the population. The fact that technology like this was new allowed Orwell to make any prediction that he wanted to without being shot down, because there was no one who would have been able to prove him wrong. Persimmons is a short story told by a group of older men sitting around a tree. They are in the middle of a drought, so their crops and animals are dying, and they are left with nothing to do. They tell the story of Lao Da, the protagonist of the story. After his son was murdered, Lao Da planned revenge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The term Lao Da means the boss or the leader of the group ( Lao ). The narrators show their respect to Lao Da by calling him Lao Da and treating him as their leader, even though he is a murderer. The reason as to why these soft persimmons resort to violence is because the county officials treat the lower class people, such as farmers, like shit. These soft persimmons are eventually squeezed too hard and can t take it anymore. If the people of the town were treated fairly, they would not have to resort to such violence that Lao Da resorted to. Before Lao Da took revenge, he tried as much as he possibly could to seek justice for what happened to his son. He tried multiple riots with his fellows, but the county seats just pushed him aside and treated him as if he was a dog. After that he decided to wait until New Year s Eve, when everyone would be at their own house to individually murder the seventeen county officials, starting with the one who murdered his son. The narrators seem to believe that the county officials Squeezed him enough for fun, and that they Squeezed a murder out of it (Li 182). Lao Da is not only a soft persimmon, but also a heroic ... The Portuguese were followed by the Dutch, who set up their main base in Ceylon, present day Sri Lanka; the British with their base in Surat and the French. • 34. Essay about Breakdancing Breakdancing The history of choreography is also very important Any choreography that seems new, fresh and different is usually a variation of something that has been done before. As long as men and women have lived upon this earth, they have danced. The art of movement is among the oldest of the arts. So for eight months I ve been learning the skills of hip hop and breakdancing by going to at a hip hop club at every week where I learned the basic skills of breaking like how to top rock and six step. B boying is a form of hip hop dancing which is popularly known as breaking. It consists of top or up rock, footwork, spinning moves (power moves), and freeze. B boying came from Bronx, NY. The term B boy or B boying was created ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... See examples of freezes history It was late 60s , early 70s when people started a sort of b boying. Their dancing was called Good Foot from James Brown s record of the same name. The Good Foot was the first freestyle dance that incorporated moves involving drops and spins, and resembled the beginning s of breaking. Breakin seems so different from all other kinds of dancing that the first question people ask when they see it is: Where did these kids learn to dance like that? To many people, this dance seems to have come out of nowhere. But like everything else, Breakin did come from somewhere, something and someone. In the case of Breakin, the someone is the great superstar, James Brown, and the something is the dance, the Good Foot. In 1969, when James Brown came out with the Hustle which was the big dance style of the day and he performed, he did the kind of dance you d expect James Brown to do. High Energy which was almost acrobatic. By the time the Good Foot became the new dance style, the tradition of dance battle was well established. Dancers would gather at places like Harlem World on 116th Street in Harlem and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Kobe Earthquake Murakami Haruki had a method with his stories, that captivated his audiences through the complexities of his plots as well as the obscure meanings within them. One of his stories, in the set of after the quake takes place in February 1995, after the disastrous Kobe earthquake. In this story, Super frog saves Tokyo , Murakami chronicles the reactions of a disaster such as the Kobe earthquake through the narrative of a frog trying to save Japan from a worm that will cause an even more disastrous earthquake. Through this narrative, the portrayal of the animal protagonist, can be interpreted as a portend for both disaster as well as transformation. Through the use of Katagiri s encounter with the frog, Murakami shows the instability of life and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Frog appears and explains that the fight took place in his imagination which brings up magical realism again and questions reality. The fact that Frog is exhausted and wounded shows the reality of the event through the circumstance of the frog explaining that Katagiri did help by leading the way with a foot powered generator. Frog explains that he is unable to defeat the worm but held it off in a draw enough to prevent the earthquake. This reality is quickly questions by the fact that frog tells him that the battle took place in the area of imagination. This magical realism is exemplified at the end when Frog slips into a coma and the disturbing image of boils popping and maggots and worms crawling out of the body. The insects fill the hospital room and Katagiri screams, but when the nurse turns on the light, the insects and frog are suddenly gone. Katagiri is delirious but he believes that frog sacrificed himself to save Tokyo from the earthquake. Alex Bates might use this sacrifice as evidence for his claim, but I would argue that, again, the frog s representation at the end while he is disintegrated into insects, shows the rejuvenation and transformation of Katagiri. Katagiri is able to rest easy after this happens as he is satisfied to have participated in such a glorious battle after having spent his life being boring. Frog ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. My Learning Experience With A Radical Shake Up Significant learning begins with a radical shake up I grew up, together with my four siblings, at a small village in the Philippines. Everyone there knew each other. In those days, I did not really think that I learned something meaningful that would affect my life, but now I could say that I have a different perspective on learning . I ve realized so many things from my experiences and I have seen life in a completely different perspective. Growing up in a developing country gave me an opportunity to value things which I gave little importance to. When you want to achieve anywhere in the world you need to be properly educated. Meaningful learning occurs when students are faced in a problem posing environment. Most Filipino families often define education as an investment placed on their children for them to continuously grow and pursue success on their line of interest by achieving higher education. My learning experiences in the Philippines are completely different from my learning experiences here in the United States. In the article entitled Play Deficit, the author states that Children there spend more time at their studies than US children, and they score higher on standardized international tests (Gray 6). Indeed, most of the students in the Philippines dedicate their life to learning and gaining more knowledge. High school students have to go to school early. Classes start as early as seven or seven thirty in the morning until five in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mat 222 week 2 paper Two Variable Inequalities Kristine Heckman MAT 222 Intermediate Algebra Instructor Leah Murray November 4, 2013 TWO VARIABLE INEQUALITIES For this assignment, I am going to work with two variable inequalities and demonstrate the practical application of these inequalities. I am going to use a graph that shows the number of TV s on the left side and the number of refrigerators on the bottom. Of course this would mean that my x axis is the bottom, and my y axis on the left. The line shows the combination of TV s and refrigerators that the truck can hold. The problem I am going to work on is #68 on page 539 . The 18 wheeler truck can hold 330 TV s with no refrigerators, or 110 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 331 ≤ 330 Although it is very close, this combination of TV s and refrigerators will not fit in the truck. Therefore, the statement is false. My second question asks if the truck will hold 51 refrigerators and 176 TV s. Will the coordinates (51,176) fall into the shaded region of our graph? I will work this test point just as the last. 329 ≤ 330 This will be a tight fit, but all of the cargo will be able to make it onto the truck. Now I have to figure out a minimum or maximum allowance of cargo to be found. The Burbank Buy More is going to make an order which will include, at most, 60 refrigerators. What is the maximum number of TV s that could also be delivered on the same truck? To find the answer, I will plug 60 into the x place of my inequality and solve for y. Is my inequality replace x with 60 multiply, then subtract 180 from both sides This is the maximum amount of TV s that can be shipped with the refrigerators. For the second scenario, the Burbank Buy More decides to have a television sale so they change their order to include at least 200 TV s. I need to figure out the maximum number of refrigerators that can be shipped in the same truck. I start with the same inequality. Replace y with 200 and solve for x Subtract 200 from each side Now I divide both sides by 3 This means that no more than 43 refrigerators can be shipped with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
