Analysis Of Entre Les Murs
Laurent Cantet s Entre les murs is a contemporary French film based on the novel by François
Begaudea. The film gives us an insight into the French education system and more specifically
the life of François Marin a high school literature teacher in France. Francois day to day life of
being a school teacher in a working class area of Paris is portrayed to us throughout the film and
we are introduced to the struggle he faces of dealing with boisterous teenagers who are uninspired
and unwilling to work. The film deals with the relationship between the teacher and the pupils and
this relationship is determined by several factors. The pessimistic attitude of the teacher and the
difference in social classbetween the teacher and the students are two of the main issues which
affect François relationship with his pupils. Within the classthere are many different cultures and
many different backgrounds which at times causes unrest between the classmates and the teacher.
The schoolis in the 20th arrondissement of Paris an area on the outskirts of the city which is
known to be a more working class area. Throughout this essay I will focus on how Entre les murs
represents the relationship between the teacher and the class through these factors of social class
and the teachers attitude.
In today s society, the relationship between teacher and pupil is widely acknowledged to be an
extremely professional one. According to an online article, The Positive Teacher Student
Relationships, there are certain characteristics which make up a good teacher pupil relationship.
Good communications, respect in a classroom...interest in teaching from the point of view of the
teacher and learning from a student will establish a positive relationship in the classroom. In
Entre les Murs, François tries to establish this kind of relationship with his class, but he finds it
difficult as the class are not all willing to engage with him. At times he is very pessimistic.
François does not have high hopes for his class, he does not think they are willing to strive to
achieve great things therefore he teachers them the basic, bland school work and does not attempt
to encourage and engage them. We see an example of this in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Noc
ABSTRACT
Network on chip (NoC) is the most reasonable and efficient solution for connecting the numerous
cores in a System on Chip(SoC). In conventional NoC architectures neighboring routers are
connected via hard wired unidirectional communication channels. Due to the uneven and
unpredictable nature of traffic patterns in NoC, one channel might be overflowed due to heavy
traffic in one direction where as the other unidirectional channel is idle, thus causing performance
degradation, data loss and incompetent resource utilization. So as a cure for this problem, a
bidirectional NoC (BiNoC) is used, which uses bidirectional channels to connect neighboring
routers and it also supports runtime recomputation of channel direction according ... Show more

Benjamin Button Comparison
Movies have always found their influences from different sources, but in the case of The Curious
Case of Benjamin Button, the screen writer found their muse from a short story. The movie and
book both roughly stick to the same theme, but many details from the two bulge out with
differences. In addition to the many differences between the two, they also share some similarities.
Both fictional stories revolve around the unique condition and extraordinary life of a man who ages
backwards.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the short story and movie are similar and different in many
ways. A few of the differences that the short story had vs the movie were the time in which the
short story took place. The short story took place in the late 1800 s while ... Show more content on

Within the film Mr. Button earned his wealth by owning and running the family business which was
a button shop. Another difference between the two were how the film depicted Mr. Rogers Button
s son, Benjamin. In the film he was born as a regular sized infant with physical features of an
older male in his 80 s. But within the short story Benjamin was described to be a full grown man
in his 70 s. In addition to this Benjamin with in the short story was born Knowledgeable and able
to speak. This was not the case with the Benjamin within the film. The Movie depicts baby
Benjamin as dependent on his mother as a normal infant. The father within the short story upset
with the appearance of his son entertained the idea of abandoning him, but ultimately was unable
to do so. As for the film, the father let his emotions get the better of him and in the end he abandon
Benjamin at the door step of a retirement home. As time passed and Benjamin grew, the father in
the short story wanted Benjamin to portray himself as a kid and play with toys, so that the father
could feel some sense of normality. As for the movie, Queenie who was the

The ruling Sikh families of Patiala, Jind, Faridkot Nabha in the Punjab, which after Independence,

After his death in 1560, the same was handed over to Mehraj. Mehraj s grandson Mohan was
pestered by Muslim Bhattis and he left Bidowali for some time in 1618 and came to the
Bathinda area. According to one description, Mohan and his son Roop Chand laid their lives in
1632 during a fight with Muslim Bhattis. Mohan s son Kala was also an ardent follower of the
sixth Guru. When Shah Jehan s army attacked the Guru in 1635 at Lehra near Mehraj, Kala
along with his clan sided firmly with him. The Guru ended victorious. A happy Guru Har
Gobind asked Kala Brar to fence as much land he wanted to. By evening, Kala had marked
twenty two villages and put his fence (Morhi) into the ground. The Bhullar Jats, who considered
themselves to be the original dwellers and owners of this area removed his fence and threw it into
a well. When Kala complained against this to the Guru, he remarked: Bhai Kala, your roots have
reached to the other world. Hence, Kala founded a village and named it as Mehraj.

Lady With Lapdog By Anton Chekhov
Bad Romance
As Haddaway once said, what is love? Baby, don t hurt me, don t hurt me no more. Everyone has
a different perspective of what love really is. People can fall in love or believe they are in love
because of physical attraction. Some may believe that lust can become into something more. In the
short story, Lady with Lapdog by Anton Chekhov translated by David Magarshack, the main
protagonist Gurov is married with a twelve year old daughter and two sons. He is not extremely
happy with his family life so he likes to have small affairs to get away from it. As the plot develops
he meets a girl named Anna, who he falls head over heels for, making the womanizer, fall in love.
Even though what the did is immoral, it can be a good thing for the pair. They may have gotten
out a situation that was not making them happy. Love can control the way people dictate their
lives. Is it for the good of the people? Is it just some emotion that causes mischief? As seen in
Lady with Lapdog, love is a powerful emotion that can alter people s motives as well as can
change other s lives in an instant. Although love is about sacrifice for the significant other, it can
also a very selfish emotion. During the story the when Gurov and Anna are in their affair she starts
to complain and he, could not help feeling bored as he listened to her...she buried her face on his
chest and clung close to him, (Chekhov 269), showing that he is not willing to listen to her when

International Relations And Applying From An Anarchic...
rspective are useful in analyzing international relations and applying them to events that are
relevant to its respective theory. The focus of analysis in realism is the struggle for power among
states in an anarchic international system. Realists view states as dominant actors. These states are
insecure, selfish, unitary, and rational in the sense that they make decisions in an organized manner
that will produce the greatest utility. The states are always looking out for their own national
interests and are naturally antagonistic against other states. Because realists are only concerned
with the survival of the state in an anarchic international system, the most important goal of the
state is to enhance their power to ensure security. The security dilemma, power politics, anarchy,
and the self help system all characterize the realist perspective. The challenge to realismis liberalism
which encompasses a broad set of liberal theories. Liberalism s focus of analysis is on enhancing
global economic and political cooperation. Besides just the state the main actors also include
nongovernmental groups and international organizations. Liberalists believe that human nature is
basically good which leads to their belief that states are not always seeking rational behavior so
much as they are seeking compromise and cooperation. International law, collective security, and
economic interdependence characterize the liberal perspective. In Dr. J. Morgenthau s article, A

Colony Collapse
Where would we be without the honey bee? Around 2006, a decline in the honey bee population
was noticed throughout the world. Beekeepers started noticing that many of their honey bee
colonies were dying off, weakening, or completely leaving their hives. As the problem became
more and more prevalent, it was given the name Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). Scientist
studying the sudden death and disappearance of the bees found problems that they were not able to
explain. The honey beedecline became worldwide news as more and more beekeepers reported
unexplained loss of honey bee hives. The common indicators of colony collapse disorder are the
rapid loss of adult worker bees from affected colonies as evidenced by weak or dead colonies with...

But, it is important to note that honeybees are not our only pollinator and are not even native to
north America. That does not mean that they are not important or that we should not do our best
to continue to research and learn ways to protect them and help them thrive. Even though we
would lose many of the diverse foods we enjoy eating, we would not likely die but rather have
poor nutrition and take a huge economic loss from loss of specialized crops, as well as the
decline in livestock that feed on bee pollinated plants, and other business and pleasures that
depend on the pollination of honey bees. Accurate estimates of the effect of varroa on the on the
apiculture industry are hard to find, bit it is safe to assume that the mites have killed hundreds of
thousands of colonies worldwide, resulting in billions of dollars of economic loss (Ellis 2016).

Guns Germs And Steel Chapter Summary Of Blood Diamond
In this chapter, Diamond examines if humans on one continent had an advantage over others by
examining the evolution and spread of humans to other continents. Diamond first examines human
origin around 7 million years ago when a population of African apes evolved into some of the
earliest humans. This evolutionary process occurred and remained in Africauntil around 1.5 million
years ago when Homo erectus spread beyond Africa. By about .5 million years ago, human
populations had differentiated with Neanderthals in Europe, relatively modern structured humans in
Africa, and humans different from both in East Asia. It wasn t until 50,000 years ago when
biologically and behaviorally modern humans ,the Cro Magnons , appeared did humans advanced

The Dynamic Partnership Of Richard Rodgers And Oscar...
The dynamic partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are often considered to
have fathered of the golden age of musical theater; a distinct and radical departure in musical
story telling that had not previously been conceived. Their first venture, Oklahoma!, was
inspired by the 1931 stage play, Green Grow the Lilacs, by Cherokee author, poet, and
playwright, Rollie Lynn Riggs. Despite the success of this musical adaptation, one must consider
Oklahoma! in relation to its source material; although Rodgers and Hammerstein proved to
redefine the genre, the eventual product was radically different from the play on which it was
based. The changes made by the duo induce an entirely different tone, presenting the audience
with a whitewashed display, rather than Rigg s childhood observations of the social, legal and
cultural changes that took place in the midst of Oklahoma s impending statehood. Richard
Charles Rodgers was born on June 28th, 1902 in Queens, New York to respected physician Dr.
William Abrahams Rodgers and wife Mamie (nГ©e Levy). In his autobiography, Musical Stages,
he confesses that, despite being born into a German Jewish household, the death of his
grandmother marked the end of orthodox Judaism in his family (pg. 4). He continues, From that
time on, my parents, my brother, and I were Jewish for socioethnic reasons rather than because of
any deep religious conviction (pg. 4). Though Rodgers formal training of the piano began at age
six, his

Bruce Springsteen s Song Born In The USA
Ask anyone during the mid 1980 s and I can promise you they have heard Born in the U.S.A by
Bruce Springsteen. Written in 1984, this record setting single was the theme song for America
during the Vietnam war. Born in the U.S.A swept the nation by storm, selling 18 million copies.
Every American may know to scream as loud as they can when the lyrics BORN IN THE U.S.A
come on, but they may not necessarily know the true meaning behind the song. Many think it s a
song about patriotism, but it s actually a song that shows the cruel treatment that Vietnam veterans
received upon returning home. This widely supported song deals with the negative effects of the
Vietnam War on Americans and the cruel mistreatment of Vietnam veterans when they returned
home from the war.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the song, Bruce sings, Got in a little hometown jam, so they put a rifle in my
hand, sent me off to a foreign land, to go and kill the yellow man ( Born In The U.S.A. Lyrics. ).
This is referring to when the government sent soldiers over to Vietnam to kill the Viet Cong.
The song continues to scream patriotism as shown in the repeated lyrics Born in the U.S.A .
The song then goes into the struggles for Vietnam veterans when they returned home from the
war. It then continues to talk about the hardship these veterans faced when looking for a job. No
one at the time wanted to hire anyone who was affiliated with the war because many Americans
were against it. The song then goes into talking about one of this buddies who went over to fight
the Viet Cong. Bruce sings about how the Viet Cong is still there and he died in an effort to
defeat them. This not only talks about one person who died, it is also a representation of all
soldiers who lost their lives during the war. This song was not only a song intended to raise
Americans patriotism, it also showed the hardships Vietnam veterans had to face both over seas, as
well as back

Tsar Nicholas II Research Paper
In Yekaterinburg Russia, Tsar Nicholas II and his family were executed on July 17 1918, bringing
an end to the three century old Romanov dynasty. They were murdered by Bolshevik troops led by
Yakov Yurovsky , the commandant of The House of Special Purpose.
Following WWI, sever strain was placed on Russia s weak government and economy, resulting in
mass shortages and hunger. The people and soldiers turned against the Tsar, losing faith in his
authority and power due to the mismanagement and failure of the war, his decision to take personal
command of the army seemed to make him responsible for the defeats. Discontent grew amongst
the people where they In March, growing civil unrest and discontentment erupted into open revolt
and strikes in Petrograd, forcing the abdication of Nicholas II (1868 1918), the last Russian czar.

Persuasive Essay Voting
The United States uses a voting system to allow it s citizens voice to be heard and have an
influence on politics. When a person turns 18 they are considered an adult and also gain the
privilege to vote. There is some belief that including more people in voting would benefit the
nation more because it would lead to a more accurate representation. So the article talks about
different perspective on allowing people who are 16 17 years of age to vote. People who are under
the age of 18 should not be able to vote because their unknowledgeable about how politicsworks,
the age group has one of the lowest votingrate, and they don t have enough perspective. So people
of the age of 16 or 17 they are not yet prepared to take on this responsibility and wouldn t be able to
carry it out.
A person who is in the age group of 16 to 17 would be enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade meaning
they have not taken a government class or are currently enrolled in one. Students don t take a
government class until their senior year of highschool. People need to learn how the government
works before they are able to vote in order to make the best decision based off their political
perspective. So say a person who falls into this group is voting and filling out their paperwork they
re not going to understand most of the term or what choice is best for them. Voting is used to get
statistic of what the nation wants in politics so why let someone who doesn t know anything about
politics vote if they re

Popper And Kuhn On Nature Of Scientific Progress
Popper and Kuhn held differing views on the nature of scientific progress. As seen in Popper s
falsification theory, he held that theories can never be proved only disproved or falsified. Once a
theory is proved false we move on to the next. Kuhn, on the other, hand argued a new paradigm
may solve puzzles better than the old one but you cannot describe the old scienceas false. Both seem
to share the Kantian idea that the really real, independently existing world is completely
unknowable. Kuhn further asserts that the empirical world, which is knowable, is partly
constructed by our categories and concepts. The fundamental difference in their views are best
stated in Kuhn s own words, A very different approach to this whole network of problems has
been developed by Karl R. Popper who denies the existence of any verification procedures at all.
Instead he emphasizes the importance of falsification, i.e., of the test that, because its outcome is
negative, necessitates the rejection of an established theory. Clearly, the role thus attributed to
falsification is much like the one this essay assigns to anomalous experiences, i.e., to experiences
that, by evoking crisis, prepare the way for a new theory. Nevertheless, anomalous experiences may
not be identified with falsifying ones. (Kuhn, 145) As seen by this passage, the fundamental
difference between Popper and Kuhn is that Popper disregards verification and Kuhn asserts that
falsification only takes place once a

Elizabeth Barrett Browning: Her Life and the Analysis of Sonnet 43
The Victorian Era is a period of vast changes in England. Queen Victoria reigned in this period for
nearly sixty five years from 1837. In this period, England was a leading power with its colonies
around the world. The country was getting bigger but the ills of the society were also getting
bigger. Child labour and prostitution were the two of important social issues in that time. Even
though the novel was dominant as a literary genre, this period had successful poets such as
Tennyson, Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Especially, with the influence of
Industrial Revolution, those poets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the compilation, Barrett Browning wrote about her love to Robert Browning. Even though the
title refers that the sonnets are translated from Portuguese, it is just an illusion because Barrett
Browning hesitated to publish them in the beginning therefore she used the title as a guise. Sonnet
43 is one of the best known sonnets from the compilation. The rhyme scheme of the poem is
ABBA ABBA CD CD CD and written in iambic pentameter. It is a type of Petrarchan sonnet. In
the first line the poet asks a question How do I love thee? (Browning 1130), and in the rest of
the sonnet she answers her question. In the second line she draws an abstract shape of her love
by using the words depth, breadth, height . In the third and fourth lines her love turns into a
spiritual love. In the fifth and sixth lines, she claims that she can fulfil her lover s every simple
need in day or in night. In the next three lines she expresses that she loves her beloved one freely,
purely, and passionately. In the next two lines, we see that the poet s love is as innocent as a
child s faith. She loves her beloved with all her good and bad feelings. At the end of the poem,
she says if God allows, her love will last long even after her death. In the poem the author used the
alliteration as a figure of speech nearly in all lines. In the seventh and eighth lines, there are two
similes starting with the word as (1130).

The Roots Of Physician Well Being
The roots of physician well being are formed early. While medical school lays a firm foundation
for the essential knowledge physicians must posses, it should also inculcate and promote the ideal
characteristics of compassion, integrity, empathy, professionalism, and commitment to service and
life long learning. 1 Doctors are people of great power, but with great power comes great
responsibility. Such responsibilities and certain qualities that medical students must present are
outlined by a major regulating body of medical health in the UK generally known as the General
Medical Council (GMC) as evident in both of their reports Good Medical Practice 2 and Medical
Students: Professionalism and Fitness to Practice 3 respectively. Such reports are available for
medical educators, students, doctors, as well as the general public. Of the numerous qualities that
must be presented, acting with Probity, Resilience, and Conscientiousness are three main features I
will be discussing in this essay. Probity One of the prime qualities doctors and medical students
should particularly abide by is probity, the quality of having strong moral principles; honest and
decency , as defined by the Oxford Dictionary4. The GMC defines probity as being honest,
trustworthy, and acting with integrity2. To supplement this in an interaction based context with the
patient, an Oxford Journal paper suggests that trust is fundamental in a good patient doctor
relationship5. In practical application of

Analysis Of Rogier Van Der Weyden s Virgin And Child
In the painting, Virgin and Child , by Rogier van der Weyden, it can be observed that the artist
chose to use the medium of oil on wood. Despite the fact that Rogier van der Weyden created this
painting in the Netherlands and was born in Tournai, Belgium, their primary influence appeared to
stem from the Italian Renaissance, which had begun to use the technique of oil paintings with
increasing frequency by turn of the 15th century. The subject of the painting itself, Madonna and
her virgin child, were a common theme in the Renaissance, where religious subjects and topics were
the primary choice for any prominent artist during this historical artistic period.

It also worth noting that the fingers of the Virgin Mary were longer in length than that of the
average woman as well. This bolsters evidence to the theory that the elongated arm of the child in
the photo was created in a purposeful manner. As noted in the previous paragraph, the elongated
arm not only conveys a sense of maturity, strength, and age that is unbecoming of a child this age, it
also yields a sense of piousness. During this period, artists commonly employed the technique of
elongating the limbs and physical features of certain subjects to emphasize their overall importance.
As noted by anyone familiar with the tradition of Christianity, these two figures are of great
importance within the religion. Thus, the use of elongate elongated limbs and fingers is logical in
this context.
The painting, Virgin and Child with Donor , by Antoniazzo Romano, despite painting a similar
scene, possesses several differences. The most notable difference is the fact that the work of art
was crafted on an entirely different medium, which was the Tempera and gold leaf on wood ,
according to the museum s description. The painting is similar to Rogier van der Weyden s
work in its depiction of the Virgin Mary with very soft, blended features. The facial expression of
the Virgin Mary is also very like that of Rogier van der Weyden s painting as well, conveying a
sense of peace and

How Do Video Games Affect Society
The Violence of Video Games and the Effect It Have On Society
In today world video games have come along way since the birth of game consoles, with such
games as Pac Man, Donkey Kong, and Frogger. Not only have the graphics done a complete
three hundred and sixty degrees turn but the violence has also on video games. There have been
many people discussing on the topic of video games that have violence and the effect it has on
kids. It brings out more aggression on kids that play those types of games than those who does not.
Although some video games are considered harmful to society, we must find the necessary steps to
improve on what we allow our children to play to fix this controversial conversation. In a recent

Now the question you may ask yourself does this link between video games and violence hold up?
With that said you must think about the millions who played these games every day. Why are
there not more crimes like this if video games have something to do with violence? Pathological
acts of course have multiple complex causes and are hard to predict. (http://www.slate.com/id
/2164065/) One of the most grueling and violence game in history is the Grand Theft Auto series.
This may be one of the best games to discuss when you are fighting your case on the violence of
video games. The series which started back in 1997 focus on many different protagonists who
attempt to rise through the ranks of the criminal underworld, although their motives for doing so
vary in each game. The game play consists of a mixture of action adventure, driving, and
occasional role playing, stealth, and racing have gain controversy for it is adult nature. Although the
game is rated M for mature you know that young children are still playing the popular game. The
limitation of violence is endless from robbing people, stealing cars, and walking up to someone and
shooting them point blank and this game has many reasons to argue against it. (http:/

Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors
Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and
the Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his
adventures and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps
keep track of the confusion, which unfolds during the play.
There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual
comedy. The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form
a critical undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that
all the action end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on

The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon
at the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has
overcome his selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers.
The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes
from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters
trying to find their true identities.
Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus
first uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is
trying to find another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search
for his lost brother and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her
husband, and compares their division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of
two people, and implies an intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not
necessarily essentially entertaining.
A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom.
Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made
obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their
wives. This finishes in the end scenes where

Consumer Bill of Rights
Introduction The term consumer protection in legislations and organizations aimed at ensuring that
the rights of consumers are protected. It also ensures that fair trade practices are implemented.
Moreover, these laws ensure that there is free flow of information in the marketplace (Cranston,
1978). Consumer protectionlaws are supposed to stop businesses from gaining an unfair advantage
over competitors. At the same time, it protects all stakeholders from fraud that may be perpetrated
by the business. Other than customers, these laws provide protection for the vulnerable consumers
in society. The four consumerrights are the rights of safety, of information, of choice and the right
to be heard (Bevans, 2011).
Before the end of the twentieth century, consumer rights were limited. This was about customer
product interaction as well as commercial producers. Consumers could not defend themselves
against defective products as well as misleading advertising methods. The consumer movement
began to gather momentum with greater member numbers. Things were better at the close of the
1950s whereby an aggrieved customer only had to show injury following the use of the product.
This was unlike earlier times when consumers had no protection against corporate negligence. The
person who drafted the Consumer Bill of Rights was Helen Ewing Nelson. The document was
written during Kennedy s campaign for president where he promised to protect consumers
(Howells, 2005).

This movie is told from Augusten Burroughs point of view of his childhood. He was very close

psychiatrist, Dr. Finch. She comes to their house quite often throughout the movie and asks why he

Life After Being Diagnosed With Brain Cancer Essay
In 2014, the American public was captivated by the story of a young woman who decided to end
her life after being diagnosed with brain cancer. Brittany Maynard, a 29 year old woman who had
just been married, had been having splitting headaches. She went to the doctor and was diagnosed
with a tumor. Her life became a blur of hospital visits, treatment plans, and research into what she
could do. Her doctors came to the conclusion that there was no treatment that could save Maynard s
life. According to an opinion piece that Maynard wrote for CNN, she quickly decided that death
with dignity was the best option for [her] and [her] family (Maynard). Since she lived in Oregon,
the idea of dying on an individual s terms was acceptable and legal, because of the Oregon Death
with Dignity Act. Maynard died on Saturday, November 1, 2014. Physician assisted suicideis
defined as a physician intentionally helping a person to terminate his or her life by providing
drugs for self administration, at that person s voluntary and competent request (Radbruch et al.
109). There is a large controversy over whether or not a patient should be allowed to request and
perform physician assisted suicide; doctors and patients alike have mixed feelings on the issue. The
first democratic nation to recognize the legality of physician assisted suicide was Australia. They
enacted a law that described certain conditions where the act was legal in the Rights of the
Terminally Ill Amendment Act in 1996.

Everybody loves a good rebel. Throw a love story in with it and bam you ve got yourself a great
plotline. What makes it even better is if it is a true account. This story of Bonnie and Clyde has
survived through the ages and the critics by surpassing any movie that had been done on the
killer duo before it. It was the American dream that had a deadly ending. It did not end well for
them much like it hadn t for most chasing the dream of prosperity. And while Bonnie and Clyde
may not have gotten their prosperity they did gain the fame they so wished for. This blood
drenched movie changed America with it s violence, sex symbols, and the hero s journey in ways
we can still see today on the big screen.

They are also the good guys. But I think that this movie takes a look at the Hero s Journey a little
bit differently. The hero in this story would be Bonnie. In the beginning she is living in an
ordinary world. She wants a life of adventure but does not know how to go about this. Then there
is that call to Adventure. I believe that Clyde would be Bonnie s call. He is young, fit,
charismatic. He falls in her sexual range. But Bonnie wants a dangerous man. You just have to
look at her husband to know she wants a bad boy. Clyde has all of that, seeing as that he was in jail,
and was still a thief. He also carried a gun. This was alluring to Bonnie. There is not much of a
refusal of the call. She is lured right away. She does learn some about him but still ends up
running away with him. Then you have meeting the mentor. The mentor in this story would also
have to be Clyde. He has experience is being a thief and a criminal. He knows how to use a gun
in which he teaches Bonnie. He also shows her how to pull off a robbery. There then is crossing
the threshold from where there is no return. Bonnie crosses this threshold as soon as she runs
away with Clyde and crosses from staying within the law and becomes an outlaw. She commits
herself to a life of crime. There are tests that Bonnie has to undergo. She has to learn to be cool
during robberies, car chases, and being shot at. She recruits C.W. who becomes part of her gang.
She also has to be contend with the enemies she gains which fall from the law enforcement to
Blanche. Then we come to the approach to the inmost cave. With this it is the reference to their
inevitable death. Which would be violent. And we see Bonnie handle this with acceptance. After
we see the ordeal. It is the fill arc of Bonnies crime. It was fun in the beginning then it becomes
deadly. When they start killing more and more people the violent becomes frequent.

Eminem was married in his 20 s this was predictable because he had a stable girlfriend and was

This is a predictable life stage because Eminem and his Mum never had much money; his mum
was unable to pay rent therefore the time that she could stay at a house or trailer was limited.
She was a drug taker therefore she could have had drug dealers after her for money. By putting
Eminem s upbringing into perspective moving house is predictable because it is band to
happen. It s impossible for a single parent who is on drugs and an alcoholic to not only bring up
a child but to manage their low income, afford food and also pay for drugs within such a limited
income span. Drugs and alcohol was clearly more important to his mum hence why she couldn t
pay her rent. Where this situation was on going once Eminem had moved houses a few times he
probably got used to the routine of moving house and because isolated or separated from old
friends. It was a situation that he had no way of adapting to because he was never settled.
Eminem getting scouted
Eminem got himself into a show at the Olympics, this is where he got scouted by Dre, Dre got
him signed and helped him to make the success of his life. This had an impact on him because he
is finally living his dream; the good has finally come out of all the bad things and the struggle that
he has been through. He can now afford to provide for him, his mum and his daughter. He must

Slumdog Millionaire Sociology
Media plays a significant role in our society. It is all around us, from the music we listen to on the

job is to entertain, inform and educate society about what is going on in the world. Without it, the
world would be a dull place and people wouldn t know what is going on in the society. Listening to
songs or watching movies can be both delightful and relaxing, but this entertainment could possibly

As a matter of fact, it can shape people s attitude in a positive way. Let s take Slumdog

to Be Millionaire and is one question away from the grand prize. But when the show breaks for
the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating because of the impossibility of a simple

Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures
together on the road. Long story short, Jamal manage to answer the last question correctly and
wins the grand prize. This movie shows that people should not judge others from their origins. I
used to think that people from the slums were ignorant before watching this movie. It certainly
change my perspective and the way I view people from the slums. Another thing that I learned
from this movie is that if you have determination and perseverance to pursue your goals, you will
eventually reach them. Jamal works very hard to work his way up from the slum to winning the
grand prize. Overall, this movie inspires me to work harder and don t give up despite

Analysis Of The Poem Dover Beach By Matthew Arnold

An Analysis of Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold
Dover Beach is thought to be one of the best representations of the Victorian Period all together. It
portrays the mood and tone of what the people experienced and felt at that time. Around the same
time it was written, London had just experienced a massive boom in their population, growing
from 2 to 6 million citizens. At the same time, London was becoming one of the first in the
country to move towards industrialization, causing some to lose their jobs due to machinery
performing them better and faster. People began to feel useless with technology taking over so
quickly. Many suffered from the expansion during the early part, losing all hope of finding
happiness and giving this moment in time a new name; A Time of Troubles .
Many other authors, like Matthew Arnold, began writing their personal accounts of what they
experienced or saw others experiencing, giving the feeling of melancholy. The reason why Dover
Beach represents the Victorian period is because in the way Arnold wrote it, he didn t ground
himself or stick to one specific subject. He creates a mood by using a variety of images,
metaphors, similes, and adjectives. The narrator seems lonely, not mentioning any other person
around him. One of the other major problems being experienced during this time are also
represented in this poem. That problem is the loss of faith. Because of the new developments,

Structural Factors Of Homelessness
Homelessness: Individual and Structural Factors Influencing This Wicked Problem According
to recent research, homelessness affects between 150,000 and 300,000 Canadians a year
(Cherner et al. 2017, 219; Gandermann et al. 2014, 341; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). This increase in
homelessness began in the 1980 s following economic changes as well as shifts in government
policy that lead to a reduction in supports for low income families as well as a decrease in
affordable housing available across Canada (Gaetz 2010, 21; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). Though
proving a national problem, a concrete solution for homelessnessdoes not exist, making it a wicked

However, in order to eliminate homelessness as a crisis in Canada, these individual factors must be
analyzed alongside the structural influences that lead to homelessness. According to the literature,
structural risk factors that contribute to homelessness are: transitioning from an institutional
placement into the community, social policies such as a lack of affordable housing and the
dismantling of national housing strategy, transferring the responsibility from federal to
provincial governments, and discrimination (Gaetz 2010, 22; Piat et al. 2015, 2368). By
acknowledging these structural risk factors as contributing alongside individual factors, a social
ecological viewpoint proves effective in preventing homelessness (Piat et al., 2379). As the
literature suggests, the social ecological perspective provides a lens for understanding
homelessness in Canada as a complex social issue that warrants a coordinated response across
sectors, levels of government, and society (Piat et al., 2380). By considering the issue of
homelessness across all levels of society, we are better prepared to formulate a proper and effective
solution towards the national

Women in Baseball
Baseball, some would argue, is America s favorite past time. Many can recall their experiences as
they enjoyed the game as a child and then continue to share it with their children. The sport has
brought us many great moments such as when Jackie Robinson broke racial barriers as the first
African American to play in the major leagues. When one thinks of professional baseball, many
times, names of greats such as Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, and Willie Mays come to mind. What
many fans over look about America s favorite past time is the period when fewer men were
available to continue their participation in the sport, as many were drafted to serve in World War II.
Not wanting the game to come to an end, the league brought in women hoping the spirit of the
game would continue to thrive. Even though these female leagues were formed, the sport was not
truly the same as the women athletes were held to different standards and not given the same
opportunity as the men who had played the game.
In today s society most people view softball as the female equivalent to baseball but is it really?
Due to social norms it is widely accepted as true. Girls who may have started off by playing
baseball with their local neighborhood friends usually have become fully adapted and successful
in a softball career by high school. Because of social conditioning most parents and children do not
realize that it is acceptable for girls to play on boys baseball teams if there is not an all girls

Johnson, a comedian, stereotypes nail shops by imitating the language, and they nail shops
workers are talking about the clients. When asked where I work in a casual conversation, I
would respond saying I worked at the nail salon and the response I usually get back is of course
or does your family own it? The misconception started from the long history of nail shops. The
reason for having mainly Asian workers in nail shops is because Vietnamese American women are
tied to the history of nail salons. It all began with a women named, Tippi Hedren, an actress who
went to an asian refugee camp and painted the women s nails. She tried showing them a new
vocation that they can make a living with. In the 1970s, it

The Notebook Film Elements

First Paper Assignment
The Notebook
The movie The Notebook, directed by Nick Cassavetes and released on June 5th 2004, is a
captivating love story, which takes place in the 1940 s. Through filmatic elements such as
Cassavetes choices of cinematography, editing, narrative, mise en scene, sound and music, he
creates an extremely believable story of two teenagers in the 1940 s who fell in love over the time
span of one summer. In order to create a 1940 s vibe, Cassavetes wisely uses a specific choice of
costumes, makeup and scenery to portray exactly the time period he wanted to. The main
character Allie, played by Rachel McAdams, is a free spirited 17 year old who in the beginning of
the movie is seen wearing a variety of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Music also plays a key role in reminding the audience that this movie took place in the past.
The sound used in this movie serves a large purpose. There are many scenes when Cassavetes
allows everything else to be silent and the object of focus to be the loudest in order for the
audience to truly concentrate on its meaning. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah
dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music
initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. The
reasoning for this is to further contribute towards Cassavetes attempts to get the audience to fall
in love with the two teenager s relationship. Dancing without music in the middle of the street
shows that the couple can have a great time with nothing else but their love and it also portrays
their free spirit and fun personalities. Another time when sound serves a specific purpose is
when Noah takes Allie to an abandoned house that he promises he will fix up when he gets older
so they can live together in it. A dusty piano in the corner intrigues Allie and she begins to play
one of her favorite slow tunes. All else is completely silent in the room as Cassavetes forces the
audience to focus on the tune she is playing, for it serves a purpose later on in the movie. When
the scenes switch back and forth between the story of Noah and Allie, and an old man narrating this
story to an old woman

Power And Pathos Of The Hellenistic Era
Power and Pathos uses 50 absolute masterpieces to tell the story of the spectacular artistic
developments of the Hellenistic era (4th to 1st centuries B.C.), when new forms of expression
began to prevail throughout the Mediterranean basin and beyond. There was an extraordinary leap
forward in the development of techniques to form the first instance of globalization of the language
of art in the known world. Art was in effect, going international. This exhibit has gathered together
some of the most spectacular ancient bronzesculptures that still exists today. It displays
monumental life sized figures of Gods, Heroes, Athletes and rulers. Ancient cultures invented
bronze. They discovered that making an alloy of copper and tin produced a strong metal that
could hold great detail and objects cast with it can easily be reproduced. The ancient Greeks prized
bronze for its visual worth and they used it create statueof the human body. Unfortunately, because
bronze is a metal that can be cast and is expensive, it can also be melted down. Hence, large
bronze statues have rarely survived from antiquity, as most were melted down so that their
valuable metal can be reused. The ones that are still preserved today are mostly the same ones that
were either lost at sea or buried underground.
This paper in particular discusses two of the statues exhibited at the Power and Pathos exhibit at
The Getty Center in Los Angeles. It analyses and compares the statuette of Alexander the Great on

In particular, small changes in inputs can result in large changes in the value of a company, given
the need to project cash flow to infinity. James Montier argues that, while the algebra of DCF is
simple, neat and compelling, the implementation becomes a minefield of problems . He cites, in
particular, problems with estimating cash flows and estimating discount rates. Despite the issues,
DCF analysis is very widely used and is perhaps the primary valuation tool amongst the financial
analyst community.
2.2. Terminal Value
Terminal Value, in simple term, is the value of a company with an infinite row of constant future
cash flows.
To arrive at a total company value, or enterprise value, we simply have to take the present value
of the cash flows and the Terminal value, divide them by the discount rate and, finally, add up
the results. If we are discounting free cash flow of the firm at the weighted average cost of
capital, this would give the value of the firm, so it would be necessary to deduct net debt in order
to arrive at the equity value. In this report, simply use FCF in the year of 2011 to compare the
value of the firm to the stock price in the year end of 2011.
2.3. Weighted Average Cost of Capital
The Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) is the discount rate used in a Discounted Cash
Flow (DCF) analysis to present value projected free cash flows and terminal value.

The Importance Of America s Unalienable Rights In The...
Government has the capability to alter the United States to meet their standards. They change the
United States in several ways, but what they cannot change and take full control over are
Americans unalienable rights. Unalienable rights have also been known as God given rights,
which means that they cannot be given or taken away by the government. In The Declaration of
Independence by Thomas Jefferson, he takes John Locke s theory of live, liberty, and the pursuit
of happiness to express how unalienable rights gives Americans the chance to live their lives
freely. Americans live their lives however they want to. They have the ability to expresses
themselves, because unalienable rights gives them that opportunity as long as ...they do not
interfere with the liberty of others (The Declaration 2). People take advantage of this freedom and
express themselves through the choices they make. America s young adults take advantage how
they live to show people another way living. They choose to dress in different styles, and they may

Tang Statue Essay
With no name and created by an unknown artist, this stone statue was created in the 7th 8th century
(during the Chinese Tang dynasty) and is a point of intrigue. Although not much is known about the
sculpture, it feels as if the statue looks through the sense of self and has a divine sense. Like all
ancient statues, much of the colour has faded away. Colour itself is an important aspect in the
representation of the figure, due to the symbology associated with each colour. Even though the
statuehas been given a physical shape, it does not exist in the sense that it is made up of many
different animal parts. When gazed upon, this sculptureleaves an impression of the divine.
Compared to other statues, ie. the lamassu or buddhas, they either stand by themselves or sit upon a
smooth stone slab. This statue s stand however, is quite peculiar. Upon first glance, the stand might
not have much significant importance compared to the statue itself, but it attracts attention due to
its irregular shape. Its shape is essentially an outline of the statues shadow in prism form, with
varying degrees of width. There are three different levels of width; the top is the widest, the middle
is the thinest and the bottom is in between. Instead of having a simple stand with consitent width,
the artist chose to make something much more complex and difficult to sculpt. Around the plinth
are a set of four holes; two under the hind legs of the statue, one in the front end and one under the

Summary Of The Rebellion Of Trung Sisters

Trung sisters vs. China
The rebellion of Trung sisters began to arise when Nam Viet was conquered by the Han emperor.
Han emperor wanted the abundant resources and more power over the Nam Viet Kingdom. In this
time period, people tried to gain their independence back and assert themselves. There were many
minor rebellions, but history of Vietnam marks Trung sisters rebellion as great impact in their
history. The podcast explains Trung sisters in more detail about their background and process of
their rebellion.
I was familiar with this story because our class covered this story so I could easily understand
and agree with this podcast. As we learned in class, older sister Trung Trac, and Trung Nhi were
known as Trung sisters. They rebelled against Chinese governor to gain the independence since
they were under Chinese power. I also remembered learning about Trung sisters army as podcast
mentions. They prepared 80,000 troops with 36 trained women generals which they defeated the
occupying Chinese. However, the podcast shares more information regarding its army which I
thought it would be interesting to mention in class that their mother was one of the generals. It
also introduces a noble woman who kept on fighting with her baby on her back after giving a
birth in the middle of battle. This scene tells us that women were very brave in Trung sisters army
as those two sisters were.
The Podcast contributes to my

  • 2. Analysis Of Entre Les Murs Laurent Cantet s Entre les murs is a contemporary French film based on the novel by FranГ§ois Begaudea. The film gives us an insight into the French education system and more specifically the life of FranГ§ois Marin a high school literature teacher in France. Francois day to day life of being a school teacher in a working class area of Paris is portrayed to us throughout the film and we are introduced to the struggle he faces of dealing with boisterous teenagers who are uninspired and unwilling to work. The film deals with the relationship between the teacher and the pupils and this relationship is determined by several factors. The pessimistic attitude of the teacher and the difference in social classbetween the teacher and the students are two of the main issues which affect FranГ§ois relationship with his pupils. Within the classthere are many different cultures and many different backgrounds which at times causes unrest between the classmates and the teacher. The schoolis in the 20th arrondissement of Paris an area on the outskirts of the city which is known to be a more working class area. Throughout this essay I will focus on how Entre les murs represents the relationship between the teacher and the class through these factors of social class and the teachers attitude. In today s society, the relationship between teacher and pupil is widely acknowledged to be an extremely professional one. According to an online article, The Positive Teacher Student Relationships, there are certain characteristics which make up a good teacher pupil relationship. Good communications, respect in a classroom...interest in teaching from the point of view of the teacher and learning from a student will establish a positive relationship in the classroom. In Entre les Murs, FranГ§ois tries to establish this kind of relationship with his class, but he finds it difficult as the class are not all willing to engage with him. At times he is very pessimistic. FranГ§ois does not have high hopes for his class, he does not think they are willing to strive to achieve great things therefore he teachers them the basic, bland school work and does not attempt to encourage and engage them. In conventional NoC architectures neighboring routers are connected via hard wired unidirectional communication channels. Due to the uneven and unpredictable nature of traffic patterns in NoC, one channel might be overflowed due to heavy traffic in one direction where as the other unidirectional channel is idle, thus causing performance degradation, data loss and incompetent resource utilization. The focus of analysis in realism is the struggle for power among states in an anarchic international system. Realists view states as dominant actors. These states are insecure, selfish, unitary, and rational in the sense that they make decisions in an organized manner that will produce the greatest utility. The states are always looking out for their own national interests and are naturally antagonistic against other states. Because realists are only concerned with the survival of the state in an anarchic international system, the most important goal of the state is to enhance their power to ensure security. • 10. The Dynamic Partnership Of Richard Rodgers And Oscar... The dynamic partnership of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein are often considered to have fathered of the golden age of musical theater; a distinct and radical departure in musical story telling that had not previously been conceived. Their first venture, Oklahoma!, was inspired by the 1931 stage play, Green Grow the Lilacs, by Cherokee author, poet, and playwright, Rollie Lynn Riggs. Despite the success of this musical adaptation, one must consider Oklahoma! in relation to its source material; although Rodgers and Hammerstein proved to redefine the genre, the eventual product was radically different from the play on which it was based. The changes made by the duo induce an entirely different tone, presenting the audience with a whitewashed display, rather than Rigg s childhood observations of the social, legal and cultural changes that took place in the midst of Oklahoma s impending statehood. Richard Charles Rodgers was born on June 28th, 1902 in Queens, New York to respected physician Dr. William Abrahams Rodgers and wife Mamie (nГ©e Levy). In his autobiography, Musical Stages, he confesses that, despite being born into a German Jewish household, the death of his grandmother marked the end of orthodox Judaism in his family (pg. 4). When a person turns 18 they are considered an adult and also gain the privilege to vote. There is some belief that including more people in voting would benefit the nation more because it would lead to a more accurate representation. So the article talks about different perspective on allowing people who are 16 17 years of age to vote. People who are under the age of 18 should not be able to vote because their unknowledgeable about how politicsworks, the age group has one of the lowest votingrate, and they don t have enough perspective. • 14. Popper And Kuhn On Nature Of Scientific Progress Popper and Kuhn held differing views on the nature of scientific progress. As seen in Popper s falsification theory, he held that theories can never be proved only disproved or falsified. Once a theory is proved false we move on to the next. Kuhn, on the other, hand argued a new paradigm may solve puzzles better than the old one but you cannot describe the old scienceas false. Both seem to share the Kantian idea that the really real, independently existing world is completely unknowable. Kuhn further asserts that the empirical world, which is knowable, is partly constructed by our categories and concepts. The fundamental difference in their views are best stated in Kuhn s own words, A very different approach to this whole network of problems has been developed by Karl R. Popper who denies the existence of any verification procedures at all. Instead he emphasizes the importance of falsification, i.e., of the test that, because its outcome is negative, necessitates the rejection of an established theory. Clearly, the role thus attributed to falsification is much like the one this essay assigns to anomalous experiences, i.e., to experiences that, by evoking crisis, prepare the way for a new theory. Nevertheless, anomalous experiences may not be identified with falsifying ones. (Kuhn, 145) As seen by this passage, the fundamental difference between Popper and Kuhn is that Popper disregards verification and Kuhn asserts that falsification only takes place once a ... Such responsibilities and certain qualities that medical students must present are outlined by a major regulating body of medical health in the UK generally known as the General Medical Council (GMC) as evident in both of their reports Good Medical Practice 2 and Medical Students: Professionalism and Fitness to Practice 3 respectively. Such reports are available for medical educators, students, doctors, as well as the general public. It also worth noting that the fingers of the Virgin Mary were longer in length than that of the average woman as well. This bolsters evidence to the theory that the elongated arm of the child in the photo was created in a purposeful manner. As noted in the previous paragraph, the elongated arm not only conveys a sense of maturity, strength, and age that is unbecoming of a child this age, it also yields a sense of piousness. During this period, artists commonly employed the technique of elongating the limbs and physical features of certain subjects to emphasize their overall importance. As noted by anyone familiar with the tradition of Christianity, these two figures are of great importance within the religion. Thus, the use of elongate elongated limbs and fingers is logical in this context. The painting, Virgin and Child with Donor , by Antoniazzo Romano, despite painting a similar scene, possesses several differences. • 22. Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Shakespeare s Comedy of Errors Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare s first plays. The minor characters, in the play, Egeon and the Duke, set up the framework of the play. Egeon, at the request of the Duke, describes his adventures and relates his life story. This provides the history of The Comedy of Errors, and helps keep track of the confusion, which unfolds during the play. There are several themes that Shakespeare uses which are only loosely related to the actual comedy. The conflicts between burden and freedom, rule and compassion, loss and rebirth all form a critical undertone within the play. There is also the serious effect time. Shakespeare requires that all the action end at five o clock, the time of Egeon s execution, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Duke also stands to increase possible return by sentencing Egeon to death. His pardon of Egeon at the end of the play is supposed to indicate that he has not only learned to pardon, but has overcome his selfishness by having him turn down the ransom which Antipholus offers. The play also centers on chance or coincidence. This actually relates to the title, since Error comes from the Latin word translating to wander. The play is really about wandering, and characters trying to find their true identities. Another theme prominent throughout the play is in the phrase, drop of water. quot; Antipholus first uses the phrase to describe himself, since he views himself as a drop of water, which is trying to find another drop in the vast ocean of mankind. In this case he is referring to his search for his lost brother and father. Later, Adriana uses the same language when referring to her husband, and compares their division similar to separating water. The phrase stands for a joining of two people, and implies an intimate bond. The use of twins in The Comedy of Errors is not necessarily essentially entertaining. A further theme that is constantly appearing in the play is that of repression versus freedom. Beginning with the first scene, Egeon is bound and sentenced; the theory of binding people is made obvious. It continues with Adriana, who asks her sister why men have more freedom than their wives. This finishes in the end scenes where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Consumer Bill of Rights Introduction The term consumer protection in legislations and organizations aimed at ensuring that the rights of consumers are protected. It also ensures that fair trade practices are implemented. Moreover, these laws ensure that there is free flow of information in the marketplace (Cranston, 1978). Consumer protectionlaws are supposed to stop businesses from gaining an unfair advantage over competitors. At the same time, it protects all stakeholders from fraud that may be perpetrated by the business. Other than customers, these laws provide protection for the vulnerable consumers in society. The four consumerrights are the rights of safety, of information, of choice and the right to be heard (Bevans, 2011). Before the end of the twentieth century, consumer rights were limited. This was about customer product interaction as well as commercial producers. Consumers could not defend themselves against defective products as well as misleading advertising methods. The consumer movement began to gather momentum with greater member numbers. Things were better at the close of the 1950s whereby an aggrieved customer only had to show injury following the use of the product. This was unlike earlier times when consumers had no protection against corporate negligence. The person who drafted the Consumer Bill of Rights was Helen Ewing Nelson. The document was written during Kennedy s campaign for president where he promised to protect consumers (Howells, 2005). Consumer protection in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Analysis Of The Poem Dover Beach By Matthew Arnold Monelle Shuman English Lit 202 K. Morefield December 1, 2014 An Analysis of Dover Beach by Matthew Arnold Dover Beach is thought to be one of the best representations of the Victorian Period all together. It portrays the mood and tone of what the people experienced and felt at that time. Around the same time it was written, London had just experienced a massive boom in their population, growing from 2 to 6 million citizens. At the same time, London was becoming one of the first in the country to move towards industrialization, causing some to lose their jobs due to machinery performing them better and faster. People began to feel useless with technology taking over so quickly. Many suffered from the expansion during the early part, losing all hope of finding happiness and giving this moment in time a new name; A Time of Troubles . Many other authors, like Matthew Arnold, began writing their personal accounts of what they experienced or saw others experiencing, giving the feeling of melancholy. The reason why Dover Beach represents the Victorian period is because in the way Arnold wrote it, he didn t ground himself or stick to one specific subject. He creates a mood by using a variety of images, metaphors, similes, and adjectives. The narrator seems lonely, not mentioning any other person around him. One of the other major problems being experienced during this time are also represented in this poem. That problem is the loss of faith. Because of the new developments, ... Structural Factors Of Homelessness Homelessness: Individual and Structural Factors Influencing This Wicked Problem According to recent research, homelessness affects between 150,000 and 300,000 Canadians a year (Cherner et al. 2017, 219; Gandermann et al. 2014, 341; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). This increase in homelessness began in the 1980 s following economic changes as well as shifts in government policy that lead to a reduction in supports for low income families as well as a decrease in affordable housing available across Canada (Gaetz 2010, 21; Piat et al. 2015, 2367). By acknowledging these structural risk factors as contributing alongside individual factors, a social ecological viewpoint proves effective in preventing homelessness (Piat et al., 2379). Many can recall their experiences as they enjoyed the game as a child and then continue to share it with their children. When one thinks of professional baseball, many times, names of greats such as Hank Aaron, Babe Ruth, and Willie Mays come to mind. Going back to the scene when Allie and Noah dance in the street together, Cassavetes purposely makes them dance without actual music initially and has Noah hum the tune he wishes to slow dance to, while all else is silent. Power And Pathos Of The Hellenistic Era Power and Pathos uses 50 absolute masterpieces to tell the story of the spectacular artistic developments of the Hellenistic era (4th to 1st centuries B.C.), when new forms of expression began to prevail throughout the Mediterranean basin and beyond. There was an extraordinary leap forward in the development of techniques to form the first instance of globalization of the language of art in the known world. Art was in effect, going international. This exhibit has gathered together some of the most spectacular ancient bronzesculptures that still exists today. It displays monumental life sized figures of Gods, Heroes, Athletes and rulers. Ancient cultures invented bronze. They discovered that making an alloy of copper and tin produced a strong metal that could hold great detail and objects cast with it can easily be reproduced. The ancient Greeks prized bronze for its visual worth and they used it create statueof the human body. Unfortunately, because bronze is a metal that can be cast and is expensive, it can also be melted down. Hence, large bronze statues have rarely survived from antiquity, as most were melted down so that their valuable metal can be reused. The ones that are still preserved today are mostly the same ones that were either lost at sea or buried underground. This paper in particular discusses two of the statues exhibited at the Power and Pathos exhibit at The Getty Center in Los Angeles. It analyses and compares the statuette of Alexander the Great on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

James Montier argues that, while the algebra of DCF is simple, neat and compelling, the implementation becomes a minefield of problems . He cites, in particular, problems with estimating cash flows and estimating discount rates. Despite the issues, DCF analysis is very widely used and is perhaps the primary valuation tool amongst the financial analyst community. 2.2. Terminal Value Terminal Value, in simple term, is the value of a company with an infinite row of constant future cash flows. To arrive at a total company value, or enterprise value, we simply have to take the present value of the cash flows and the Terminal value, divide them by the discount rate and, finally, add up the results. If we are discounting free cash flow of the firm at the weighted average cost of capital, this would give the value of the firm, so it would be necessary to deduct net debt in order to arrive at the equity value. In this report, simply use FCF in the year of 2011 to compare the value of the firm to the stock price in the year end of 2011. 2.3. Weighted Average Cost of Capital The Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) is the discount rate used in a Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analysis to present value projected free cash flows and terminal value. ... • 46. Tang Statue Essay With no name and created by an unknown artist, this stone statue was created in the 7th 8th century (during the Chinese Tang dynasty) and is a point of intrigue. Although not much is known about the sculpture, it feels as if the statue looks through the sense of self and has a divine sense. Like all ancient statues, much of the colour has faded away. Colour itself is an important aspect in the representation of the figure, due to the symbology associated with each colour. Even though the statuehas been given a physical shape, it does not exist in the sense that it is made up of many different animal parts. When gazed upon, this sculptureleaves an impression of the divine. Compared to other statues, ie. the lamassu or buddhas, they either stand by themselves or sit upon a smooth stone slab. This statue s stand however, is quite peculiar. Upon first glance, the stand might not have much significant importance compared to the statue itself, but it attracts attention due to its irregular shape. Its shape is essentially an outline of the statues shadow in prism form, with varying degrees of width. There are three different levels of width; the top is the widest, the middle is the thinest and the bottom is in between. Instead of having a simple stand with consitent width, the artist chose to make something much more complex and difficult to sculpt. Around the plinth are a set of four holes; two under the hind legs of the statue, one in the front end and one under the right ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Summary Of The Rebellion Of Trung Sisters Gi Kim Michaele Smith History 111 02H 22 November 2014 Trung sisters vs. China The rebellion of Trung sisters began to arise when Nam Viet was conquered by the Han emperor. Han emperor wanted the abundant resources and more power over the Nam Viet Kingdom. In this time period, people tried to gain their independence back and assert themselves. There were many minor rebellions, but history of Vietnam marks Trung sisters rebellion as great impact in their history. The podcast explains Trung sisters in more detail about their background and process of their rebellion. I was familiar with this story because our class covered this story so I could easily understand and agree with this podcast. As we learned in class, older sister Trung Trac, and Trung Nhi were known as Trung sisters. They rebelled against Chinese governor to gain the independence since they were under Chinese power. I also remembered learning about Trung sisters army as podcast mentions. They prepared 80,000 troops with 36 trained women generals which they defeated the occupying Chinese. However, the podcast shares more information regarding its army which I thought it would be interesting to mention in class that their mother was one of the generals. It also introduces a noble woman who kept on fighting with her baby on her back after giving a birth in the middle of battle. This scene tells us that women were very brave in Trung sisters army as those two sisters were. The Podcast contributes to my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
