• Information from our senses- actions

CLASSIFICATION OF COMPUTERS
1. SUPERCOMPUTERS
• Most powerful computer available
• Used by large organization (big
corporations and government
institution
• NASA and the US government
• Video
2. MAINFRAME COMPUTERS
• Less powerful than supercomputers
but are capable of great processing
speed, multi-tasking capability and
high data storage
• Mostly used by banks and insurance
companies
• Video
3. MID-RANGE COMPUTERS
• Used by medium size companies for
specific purposes
• May be a stand alone system for
specialized application including
network servers
4. HANDHELD COMPUTERS
• Smallest computer that are design to
fit into one hand or palm
• Called it palm top computers
• PDA (Personal Digital Assitane)
5. MICROCOMPUTERS
• Desktop computers
• You can see it in homes, schools and
in most business
• 2 types

▫ Notebook computers
PERSONAL COMPUTERS
1. DESKTOP COMPUTERS
• Set- up wherein it is located on a desk
or table
• Cannot be carried around due to its
heavy weight
2. LAPTOP COMPUTER
• hardware of Desktop computer are
packed together
3. MULTI-TOUCH
• Computer monitor screen
• Interaction of two or more fingers

4. Nettop Desktop Computer
• Small size, low voltage, and lower power
• Cheap making deal for internet task and
basic Microsoft Office
• Most Nettops have built in Wi-Fi
5. Netbook
• Called a “mini notebook”
• Features : small size, light weight, low
power, and inexpensive character that
appeals to mobile users
6. Tablet PC
• Notebook equipped with a touchscreen,
which allows the user to operate the
computer using a digital pen or stylus
7. Pocket PC
• Handheld or pocket size computer
running on MS Windows Pocket PC
edition with all features of modern
desktop PC.
• Have mobile phone feature
8. PDA
• Personal Digital Assistance
• Also called palm type computer
• Have phone capabilities, web browser,
internet, music and video
• Touch screen is a standard feature
9. Smartphone
• Features of pocket PC and PDA are
incorporated
• Receive phone calls, text messages
• Camera and video recording
• GPS navigation
