aware of what being of Japanese ancestry was going to be like. I wouldn t be faced

(158). After the bombing at Pearl Harbor, the government saw all Japanese

In Heidi Hanrahan s analysis of The Black Cat, By Edgar Allen Poe, she starts off
by claiming that this story is Poe s commentary on nineteenth century American

not as a symbol for something deeper, but as what he is in reality; the narrators pet.
She uses excerpts and quotes from texts such as Uncle Tom s Cabin and The

helped people become better children and adults (Hanrahan, 47). In these excerpts

pieces from The Classical World exhibit. While I observed numerous works, one
sculpture stood out when I compared it to the others. In this paper, I will be
describing The Torso of Aphrodite, using my own viewpoints and the elements of
formal art analysis in order to explain its unique qualities that make it different when
compared to other pieces in The Classical World exhibit.
The Torso of Aphrodite was constructed in the 1st century A.D. and is made entirely
of marble. The torso previously belonged to a life sized version statue of The Greek
goddess of love Aphrodite. From the moment I saw this piece, I knew I was attracted
to it in a deeper way. It took more than my initial impression to make an observation,
and that is what I enjoyed. The way the robe is draped only part of her body is visible,
but this is done in a clever way. The robe is seen draped halfway down her arm,
covering the left side of her body, leaving only the upper right part of her chest
exposed. As I walked to the back, I noticed the robe was clutched at elbow level.
The robe covers most of her back, in a well done manner; little details are exposed
on her back, or buttocks. The knot on the top of her left shoulder shows where the
robe was tied to maintain her modesty.
Looking at the sculpture carefully I did not observe many shapes, but I did see

Epiphanies in James Joyce s Dubliners Characters in Dubliners experience
revelations in their every day lives which James Joyce called epiphanies. Merriam
Webster defines an epiphany as an illuminating discovery, realization, or disclosure.
While word epiphany has a religious connotation, these epiphanies characters in
Dubliners experience do not bring new experiences and possibility of reform that
epiphanies usually have. Joyce s epiphanies allow characters to better understand
their circumstances, generally full of sadness and grief. After these revelations,
characters go back to their lives with acceptance but frustration. Dubliners fail to see
their situation fully, which is the reason they lacked reaching their full potential.
Dubliners is full of characters in lethargic positions that Joyce saw as the fate of all

Day 1: Had my first day today and it was very interesting. First I had an orientation
where we went over general guidelines for interns at Viacom and then we signed
some paperwork. Played some icebreaker games and got a crash course in all the
entities that Viacom owns such as MTV, MTV2, VH1, Comedy Central, CMT, BET.
After I met with JC, one of the research analysts for MTVand I got a tour of where I
was working and met fellow employees and met my supervisor Mitchell. I then
attended a meeting with the research, programming and creative insight teams where
we discussed millennials (people aged 15 30) and their media consumption. We

Basically I had to find out the amount of people that were watching these games
and then I had to create a powerpoint and make notes on the trends over the various
networks and give insight to how we can get higher ratings for the MTV shows even
when NBA playoff games are on. This took me the entirety of the day.
Day 7: Today was a rather slow day. Monday, along with Tuesday, is one of the
busiest days in the office considering all the ratings from Friday come in. I updated
the NBA playoff report with the most up to date basketball game and tracked
trends and gave insight to why ratings went up or down across the 2 stations that
held the western and eastern conference finals, TNT and ESPN. Once I updated
that, I did my daily input of programs into myevents. Then I did a mini project
regarding Punk d and seeing the ratings along each of the 8 older seasons along
with the newest 9th season. I tracked ratings from people between 12 24, along
with ratings for women and men as subsets. After I ran that report, I was supposed
to give insight to why the latter seasons of punk d, arpund 2006 and 2007, did so
poorly, and why MTV decided to bring back the series temporarily. After that I had
about an hour left in my day so I checked the ratings from Friday for MTV and MTV
2. When I was done with that I was done for the day.
