Light In The Forest Johnny Tremain Analysis
Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, and Johnny
Tremain, by Esther Forbes, are two incredibly distinct novels, each with their own similarities and
differences when compared to one another. True Son, the protagonist in Light in the Forest, is a fifteen
year old boy raised by a tribe of Delaware Indians for the past eleven years of his life. Though he is
biologically American, he wholeheartedly considers himself a full blooded Indian. This not only
creates turmoil when he is forcibly moved to his biological white family but causes True Son
confusion when he is forced to choose between not only his two families but his two other identities as
well. On the other hand, Johnny Tremain, the protagonist in the novel Johnny Tremain, faces a
completely different situation for he is a fourteen year old boy living in colonial Boston. He is at first
entirely self centered and arrogant due to his prodigious gifts as a silversmith apprentice. However,
when an unfortunate injury results in him having a crippled hand, this destroys any chance of him
being an adequate silversmith. He faces humiliation but through many struggles and difficulties
transforms into a patriotic man. Through analyzing the two novels, there were many similarities and
differences found. Similarities include the difficult journey they both encounter as well as their similar
behavior. On the contrary, both individuals differ through their race and how they were brought up.
Both True Son and Johnny Tremain desire to stay in a comfortable setting. They greatly enjoy their
life and make no wish to change it. And yet, both characters were forced to face hardships which
ultimately changes both their situation as well as their perspectives in life. For instance, Johnny
Tremain had a comfortable position in life. He was widely considered the most talented young
silversmith in Boston. Though he was egotistic, he was destined for a bright future. Regrettably, when
molten silver disfigured his hand he lost his chance at ever becoming a silversmith and can no longer
find skilled work. Filled with self pity and despair, he almost turns to a life of crime. Only his
friendships and new job with a Whig newspaper company

Investigating The Stock Price Reaction Of Firstenergy And...
1. Introduction The aim of this study is to investigate the stock price reaction of FirstEnergy and
Allegheny to various merger related announcements. The study will also identify the presence of any
run up abnormal returns prior to the first formal announcement due to potential information leakages,
insider trading or rumours. FirstEnergy is an energy company that formed in 1997, as a result of the
merger between Ohio Edison and Centerior, which serves a large customer base. FirstEnergy and its
subsidiaries provide utility goods and services as a private enterprise and, as a result, form one of the
USA s largest investor owned utility companies. FirstEnergy announced plans to acquire Allegheny
Energy, an electric utility company formed in 1925, in 2010 and the merger, worth $4.7 billion, was
completed the following year. The paper differs from others as it will provide insight and evaluation
into which event during the merger process had the largest effect and identify whether this was the
same for both firms, especially since the merger was undertaken in a tough regulatory environment
which contains many hurdles (). The results of this paper could be attributed to other firms in the
industry or, potentially, to other industries with similar regulatory structures. The structure of this
proposal, which will be consistent with the final paper excluding the empirical findings, proceeds as
follows. Section 2 reviews selected literature based on the focus areas. Section 3

The Tragedy Of Antigone By Sophocles
The play Antigone, composed by Sophocles, informs us that fate cannot be controlled by anyone. Fate
is an essential part of many tragedies. As for the characters in Antigone, their fates end up being
unavoidable, whether it is due to the reason that they refused to accept it until it was very late, or they
accepted the fate and permitted it to come to pass. The character s lives possess set conclusions, and
there exits some clues on what these conclusions shall be, and when they shall happen. The characters
are frequently capable of knowing their fate and reacting to it. At certain periods, characters accept
their fate since it is vital to them, or they trust that it is unavoidable (Stegar, 1). A vital theme of
Antigone is the conflict amidst fate and a person s action. Whereas free decisions, like the choice of
Antigone to disobey Creon s orders, are important, fate is actually accountable for most of the very
overwhelming and vital occurrences of the trilogy. Through raising the fate s significance, Sophocles
implies that characters cannot be completely accountable for their undertakings. It gets challenging,
for instance, to blame Oedipus for marrying mother, provided his ignorance (Shmoop, 3). The main
character s fate in the play Antigone by Sophocles shows the risks of extreme pride. The forces of the
gods or fate, bears grave and weighty impacts on the lives of human beings. Various tragic results
might certainly arise from the will of the gods, and not simply a

Rorschach Test And Its Impact On The Field Of Psychology
Abstract
The Rorschach test, used first in 1918, has been the center of much controversy in the field of
psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test many factors within clients based on
how they answer when asked about the pictures. Although Hermann Rorschach never made it known
where he got the idea for the Rorschach test, it is believed it was inspired by the game Blotto, which
was a game which used inkblots. The Rorschach test was originally used to test patients with
schizophrenia during which Rorschach discovered that these patients responded significantly in a
different way from others without schizophrenia. Later, Rorschach began working more with the test
using forty inkblots in his original studies but only using fifteen of them commonly with his clients.
Today, this test is used by highly trained professionals who are studying personality based on scoring
clients answers to questions about the inkblots. (Framingham, 2016)
History of the Rorschach Test
The Rorschach test, which was first administered in 1918, is one of the most controversial
psychological tests in the history of psychology. This particular test uses print inkblots in order to test
many factors within clients based on how they answer when asked about the pictures. It was created
by Herman Rorschach. Although Rorschach never made it known where the inspiration for the

High School Goals
Goals are important to peoples everyday lives. Goals for high school, personal life, goals for your job,
and goals for the future are important to our everyday lives towards the future. I m Hailey Anderson, I
m a determined person that is not afraid to fail and then learn from it. My goals in my life is to focus
on my education, improving my bowling skills, and find different ways to strengthen my short term
memory loss. Goals in high school are good because you can focus on making goals, which can let
you get to what you want to do in the future. My personal goal for high school is to get a 3.0 GPA, or
higher and graduate high school. A GPA is good for individual student or a person that graduated high
school to know. This will help businesses know what type of person they will be in that line of work.
A GPA also determines if a person is ready to graduated high school and if a person is ready to go to
college. The reason why I m so focused on my education for high school is because that way I can
achieve a goal or goals that gets me closer to what I want to do in my life. Goals in high school are so

Case 3: Boeing Company
Team 8
The five elements group: Derek Dellape : 7551
Synopsis As the largest aerospace company in the world, the Boeing Company employees more than
153,000 people in some 67 countries. The great dominance of Boeing is due to its 1997 merger with
McDonnell Douglas Corporation, an aerospace manufacturer, and its 1996 purchase of the defense
and space units of Rockwell International Corporation, an aerospace contractor. The corporation is the
world s number one maker of commercial jetliners and military aircraft with more than 9,000
commercial planes in service worldwide, including the 717 through 777 families of jets ... Show more

Unfortunately, Boeing jets were involved in four fatal air accidents from December 1988 to March
1989, and the company missed its first delivery deadline in two decades when the 747 400
experienced production delays. These internal problems were exacerbated by increased competition
from Airbus, which was heavily subsidized by a consortium of European companies and governments.
Furthermore, worldwide orders of all aircraft by the airliners declined from 1,662 in 1989 to 439 in
1991. Fortunately, in 1993 NASA selected Boeing as the prime contractor for the International Space
Station, which was called the largest international science and technology endeavor ever undertaken.
Boeing was also becoming increasingly involved in commercial space projects and in December 1995
ten commercial space satellites were produced and launched from a floating platform at sea.
In the middle of 1990 s, Boeing began its plan of acquisitions and in 1996 it paid $3.2 billion for the
aerospace and defense holdings of Rockwell International which was responsible for the Space shuttle
and International Space Station programs, as well as activities in launch systems, rocket engines,
missiles, satellites and military airplanes. Furthermore, in 1997 Boeing completed a $14 billion
acquisition of McDonnell Douglas which was the world s number three maker of commercial aircraft.

An Army At Dawn Essay
The book An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942 1943 gives the reader valuable insight
into the campaign in North Africa in 1942 1943 for both Allied and the German forces. The narrative
follows the American and British armies as they fought the Vichy French in Morocco and Algiers, and
then later when they fight the Germans and the Italians for Tunisia. The novel follows the
inexperienced and ill led soldiers from battle to battle as they gradually become a more cohesive and
deadly fighting force. This novel also centers around the almost mythical but also flawed commanders
who dominate the battlefield and write their names in the history books: Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley,
Montgomery, and Rommel. The author, Patrick Atkinson, lays out a spectacular narrative on what was
happening during Operation Torch and in the North African Campaign. In analyzing the narrative, the
author s main points consist of the Allies (American and British) and German strategy/thinking during
the campaign. The other main points consist of the ally defeats and failures during the campaign
which resulted in them having to re strategize and rethink of how to defeat the Nazi forces under the
command of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. All of this cumulates to his important main point,
which was that the Allies gained enough vital experience from their past defeats to win the overall
campaign. There are parallels and tie ins fro this book that correspond to the readings that we have had

The Psychology of The Gambler Essay
The Psychology of The Gambler
In Fyodor Dostoyevsky s The Gambler, we are presented with a novel whose protagonist is what we
would call today a problem gambler. The gambling mania of the story s hero, Alexei Ivanovitch, is a
mirror of Dostoyevsky s own gambling compulsion. The heroine, Polina Alexandrovna, represents a
woman Dostoyevsky had as a real lover. Polina is the stepdaughter of the General, who Alexei works
for as a servant. The General shows paranoia over gambling from the outset of the story. He censures
Alexei with respect to his care of the children, I suppose you would like to take them to the Casino to
play roulette? Well, excuse my speaking so plainly, but I know how addicted you are to gambling.
Though I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He struggles with moralizing over this but knows a change in his fortunes can be had from successful
gambling, I had long ago made up my mind, that never should I depart from Roulettenberg until some
radical change had taken place in my fortunes...why is gambling a whit worse than any other method
of acquiring money? How, for instance, is it worse than trade? True, out of a hundred persons, only
once can win; yet what business is that of yours or mine? (Dostoyevsky 8).
When it comes to writers and writing, there is an old maxim that is often repeated, Write what you
know. Dostoyevsky seems to have taken this advice to heart when it comes to his own writing. For the
gambler is based on a real love affair had by the author as well as being a first hand account of the
behaviors and psyches of the addicted gambler (which he was for a period of time). As Christine
McKay (2) points out, The Gambler is based on Dostoyevsky s love affair with Apollinaria Suslova as
well as his frequent casino visits to play roulette, which he began playing in 1863, at a time when he
was extremely poor. He experienced first hand the excesses of gambling so aptly described in The
Gambler.
Alexei is involved in the intrigues of the social climbers who surround the General for whom he works
as a servant. This too is an autobiographical element of the

The government regulation has played a crucial role in boosting the industry growth and shifting it
from a state owned monopoly to market oriented model. Presently there are more than 800 million
subscribers with around 70 percent tele density. The industry has 15 GSM service providers with 5 of
them having pan India presence.
With the maturing of the industry, the differentiation among the services provided by the players is
also on a decline. The quality of service among the service providers is also converging to the industry
standard and TRAI recommendations. This resulted in a price war, especially with the new players
entering the existing circles. The price war has resulted in the erosion of market share of existing
players and also affected the profitability of all the service providers. The average revenue per user is
on a decline in the industry, and interestingly the lower tariff has not increased the minutes of usage
per connection. The existing players are working hard to maintain steady addition to the subscriber
base and to keep the costs of operation low. Although the market may not be attractive for a new
entrant, there seems to be a strong value and upside potential remaining for the existing telecom
operators to prevent the erosion of their market share.

Acceptance In Peter Skrzynecki s Immigrant Chronicle
An individual s feeling of acceptance is directly affected by their sense of belonging in the world,
through coming to terms upon where they truly do and do not belong. This sense of acceptance is
heavily reliant on an individual s attitude and experiences, as it revolves around where they seem to
belong in a society, culture, or environment, and their realization of place in the world. This
relationship between belonging and a sense of acceptance is explored through Peter Skrzynecki s
Immigrant Chronicle a series of poems published in 1975 depicting the struggle of an immigrant
family establishing themselves in post WWII Australia. The struggle for finding his place is explored
vividly through his works St Patricks College and Postcard , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Both texts effectively explore and convey that an individual s sense of belonging lies fundamentally
with their acceptance and place in the world.
A sense of place and acceptance in the world often can only be accomplished through previously
feeling disconnected or alienated; finding where an individual does not belong before recognising
where they do. This cultivated sense of alienation, due to disconnection and displacement, is solemnly
conveyed throughout Peter Skrzynecki s poem St Patrick s College , as the poet struggles to find
connections emotionally, spiritually, or physically to the prestigious school he attends, evidently due
to having no place in that particular environment. Skrzynecki stresses through the first two stanzas his
immediate alienation through his forced enrolment to the impressive school by his Mother... wanting
only What was best , seemingly condemning her for expecting him to flourish in an environment he
did not relate with. The

Nursing Safety Issues
Safety is a small measure that can make a big impact on a patient in the clinical setting. In some cases,
it can even cost patients their lives. According to the Online Journal of Issues in Nursing, safety is
defined as a tool to minimize risk of harm to patients and providers through both system effectiveness
and individual performance (Barnsteiner, 2011). Safety problems can range from the nurse not
knowing how to work certain equipment, or the nurse recording values wrong because he or she is
distracted. Either way, these safety issues impact the clinical setting in a negative way. In order to have
a functional, safe clinical environment, time and money must be spent to keep the hospital in working
order and the nurses in the correct mindset. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first thing a nurse can do is to always remember that they are a patient advocate. In the situation
of an OR nurse watching a doctor perform surgery, being a patient advocate is key. The nurse s patient
is unconscious and cannot speak for themselves. Watching to make sure that whatever part of the body
is being worked on is thoroughly inspected and all tools used in the surgical procedure are accounted
for is one of the most effective ways that a nurse can intervene. Being a patient advocate also means
telling the surgeon when a nurse happens to find something left behind. This advocacy would create
an environment of communication to promote communication between all team members. Nurses can
also count the surgical items being used. To prevent leaving surgical items inside patients, the
Association of perioperative Registered Nurses recommends counting all sponges, sharps, and related
miscellaneous items at five different times: (1) before the procedure to establish a baseline, (2) before
closure of a cavity within a cavity, (3) before wound closure begins, (4) at skin closure, and (5) at the
time of permanent staff relief of either the scrub person or the circulating nurse (Treadwell, 2013).

The Dark Knight
You only have your thoughts and dreams ahead of you. You are someone. You mean something. Very
inspirational quote right, maybe it came from the president or Oprah, someone big right? It came from
a fictional character in a comic book, Batman the Dark Knight. Comics have become something
greater than what people consider them to be. Especially the characters portrayed in said comics.
Comic books are literally larger than life, the characters in these comics may have superpowers or live
in a place that would only exist in the craziest of dreams. But they are written so well that it really
does convince one to believe that a place like this may actually exist and that anything can happen in
it. This is how they get the reader, into the comic; and because of this you are entertained. We read our
favorite comic books and take in the lessons written in each and every page. Such as Batman. Batman
is one of the greatest and well known heroes in the comic book world. He has been very popular in
pop culture throughout the years because of television and movie adaptations.
When I was growing up I was first introduced to the Dark Knight by my dad when he would turn on
the television every Saturday morning and tune into Batman The Animated Series. I remember
instantly gaining interest in it because he was really cool, he fought bad guys, and he had all these
gadgets that helped him fight for justice.

Abstract
To improve the properties of microalgae as sources for biodiesel production, Nannochloropsis
oceanica CCAP 849/10 was cultured in f/2 media supplemented with five different forms of nitrogen
(NH4HCO3, (NH4)2SO4, NaNO3, NH4NO3 and Urea, 0.88 mmol N l−1). The growth, total lipid
content, fatty acid profiles of the microalga were assayed after 15 days of cultivation. The results
indicated that the growth based on cell number of N. oceanicawas lowest in medium with ammonium
nitrate and increased significantly in medium with ammonium carbonate. The microalgae treated with
ammonium sulfate and ammonium nitrate had the highest total lipid contents, which were 90 and 87
%, respectively. The fatty acid profiles of the microalgawas significantly different. The major fatty
acids incultures supplemented with ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium sulfate, ammonium nitrate
and urea, C14:0, C16:0, C16:1, C18:0, C18:1, C18:2, C20:5 and C22:6 were detected. However in
culture supplemented with sodium nitrate, C16:1 had very small peak.

The Importance Of Democracy In Colonial America
Language, like all else, changes over time. Nice used to mean foolish, and awful used to mean full of
awe. This too gives context to why when democracy, or rule by the people, is mentioned today, the
word does not have the same connotation as it did to the inhabitants of colonial North America.
Similarly, the democracy of the 1800s, colloquially known as the early republic period, was different
from democracy during the time of the revolution. The tradition in colonial Virginia, for instance, was
that democratic voting power only applied to the aristocratic members of the clergy. In New England,
only the property holding elect had a say in town decisions. This tradition of not quite equality in
democracy held through to revolutionary times. As Stanley N. Katz puts it, Indeed, during most of
American history, framers of constitutions, lawmakers, and judges avoided committing the nation to
the protection of individual equality. Because of the strength of majorities, laissez faire economic
policy, and an increase in opportunity, democracy replaced tradition as the provider of political power
during the early republic in the northern United States.
White males gained universal suffrage because of their numbers, breaking the aristocratic property
based tradition. In the earliest days of the United States, most state constitutions adopted the same
voting eligibility as were established in the colonies and in Britain: ownership of property. The
justification for this,

throughout the preparation of the budget. We first identified the cost objective as the product line

activities and cost drivers to complement our objective. They were as follows: Activity Driver(s) Sales
demand Number of cases sold Brewing materials, machinery, and supervision Direct materials used,
Machine hours, Direct labour hours Shipping and logistics Transportation expenses Contract growth
Commissions paid General company administration No cost driver (organization sustaining) Indirect
costs that could not be traced back directly to the income statement were then assigned to cost pools
by activity. The cost for each activity were then divided by the total volume of the cost driver and
assigned to the cost objectives. Ultimately, the use of ABC in its budget processes adds considerable
potential benefit to Desert Valley but will be costly to maintain and monitor effectively. We

Descriptive Essay On A House In Childhood
Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will be a
house to the left. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house had a
worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota weather. At the
end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of the driveway was a
large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the wall was a stairway that
leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick shed further away. Beyond the
house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of trees my grandpa planted when he
moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the
woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and
I have aged, grown, and changed together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house
through a wood lacquer door. The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa.
Once inside, to my right, is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the
holidays we gather there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves
with the sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always
warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or ham was
not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I would salivate
anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed. Straight ahead of the
entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood floor beams that were never
completed. The basement was their storage space and where their appliances were such as their water
heater, which gave off a soft hum. The basement had the faint smell of vinegar because my
grandparents liked to pickle, so they had shelves in the basement cluttered with jars of various things
that they pickled. Going back up the stairs and through the kitchen is the carpeted living room. The far

In my research on child poverty, I read a scholarly journal entitled UNICEF Child Poverty in
Perspective Report: A view from the UK. In the journal they compared the conditions of the children
living across the world in the industrialized countries. UK was found as the poorest of them all. This
comparison was on average against 21 countries. These reports were started in 2000, where they
resembled a report card of the comparisons but the latest one was February 2007. The report has some
interesting and detailed information on contributing factors on children poverty. The first contributor I
will discuss is emotional and social issues for poor children. These problems include impulsive
behaviors, lack of social skills, anxiety, depression and low self esteem. These problems make it
difficult for future success in school or work as they grow. (UNICEF) Emotional children may begin
to feel helpless and start to separate from the crowd to avoid embarrassment. They have to deal with
the looks and comments of people who are more fortunate talking down to them. There s a feeling of
helplessness and questions on why they have to be less fortunate. This may lead to counseling in more
severe situations. Then there is the part poverty plays in the educational development as well. There
are times when poverty may mean no dinner the night before or not enough breakfast that morning.
Poverty is the leading threat to children s

In regions of colonization, a significant issue that emerges in the native community is a disruption of
identity resulting from an influx of colonial European ideals. As a result of colonization, the native
identity is subjected to threats of marginalization by the invasion and domination of European cultural
practices and language. The detrimental impact of colonization on the indigenous people of Rhodesia
in Nervous Conditions is illustrated by the dominance of the British Empires colonial European
identity, which is perpetuated by the conception that Englishness will civilize the population. In Tsitsi
Dangarembga s Nervous Conditions, the natives of Rhodesia, Tambu and Nyasha, illustrate a hybrid
identity crisis as a result of imperial oppression over the language and educational system of the
nation. The role of English language and culture, imposed by colonial education, emphasizes the
movement for natives to abandon their indigenous cultural and linguistic roots. The mental
colonization of the colonized by the means of English language, education, and European cultural
values results in a state of displacement, alienation, and identity confusion in the individual. In the
novel, Dangarembga depicts the victimization of the Shona language through the educated characters
eagerness to adopt and imitate the practices of the English. The imposition of a new language on the
native community is used as a medium through which the hierarchal structure of power is

the historical context and the public need for the Federal Judiciary Act of 1789 (the Act ). The paper

Many of its provisions are still in effect today. In many ways, the legacy of an independent judiciary,
which is one of the strongest attributes of the American democratic experience, can be traced to the
Act s role in implementing the general provisions of Article III of the Constitution ( Thomas Jefferson:
Domestic Affairs Miller center , 2017). The Act not only gave definition and structure to the federal
judiciary system but it also considered (and affected) the rights of the states and the jurisdiction of

Homeless And Homelessness
The word homeless is used to describe a person without a home, and therefore typically living on the
streets. Homelessness is described as part of a vicious circle that is difficult for many to escape.
More temporary shelters and rehabilitation sessions to help individuals find employment should be
provided to assist the homeless in recovering their previous life.
Many homeless individuals, especially the young, have fallen victim to a complex mesh of social,
economic and mental disadvantages. In 2009, a study by social researchers in Melbourne s RMIT
showed that 30% of homeless people suffered from a mental disorder.
The causes of homelessness among majority of young people are strongly linked to relationship and

Symbolism Of Summer Night s Dream
Summer Night s Dream (The Voice) painted by Edvard Munch in 1893, depicts a single female figure
standing in a field with a water landscape behind her. Edvard Munch was greatly influenced by the
works of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. He was particularly interested in their ideas of using
color as a way to express emotion, feeling, and importance rather than form. The world he is depicting
is a rendition of the world he sees. It is not supposed to be completely realistic it is supposed to reflect
what Munch is feeling and what he is seeing in his head. This idea is what brands him as one of the
greatest symbolist painters of all time. Symbolism is the art movement that occurred roughly during
the late 1800s. Munch s theory on art is that art is the opposite of nature , it isn t supposed to be an
exact replica of what is being seen but rather using what one is seeing as inspiration for one s
emotions (Chipp pg. 114). The idea is that nature is not supposed to be replicated because nature is its
own great realm that one must not interfere with. Art is supposed to be a reflection of the artist and
their emotions and how the natural world they are in makes them feel. This is a more drastic shift
away from impressionism than the post impressionists. Instead of slightly changing the world that
surrounds them, like the post impressionists, Munch, and other symbolists, completely changed the
world to reflect their feelings. Edvard Munch is mostly revered for his angst ridden

Silibinin Research Paper
Although Amanita phalloide resembles a small and adorable umbrella, its dreadful virulence is
extremely hazardous. Amanita phalloides is one of the most poisonous of all known toadstools and it
is estimated that only half a mushroom contains enough toxin to kill an adult person. It has proved that
possibly the deaths of Roman Emperor Claudius in AD 54 and Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI in
1740 is caused by it. The principal toxic constituent is α amanitin, a highly stable protein that the body
has great difficulty in completely eliminating, which damages the liver and kidneys, causing hepatic
and renal failure that can be fatal. The specific reason why alpha amanitin has such strong effect is
that it is a potent inhibitor of DNA dependent RNA polymerase II. It obstructs the formation of
mRNA, eventually stops the constitution of protein and induces apoptosis especially in ... Show more

A new helpful treatment for amatoxin poisonings is intravenous silibinin, a derivative of milk thistle.
Silibinin protects the liver by preventing the uptake of amatoxin by the liver cells. Once the amatoxins
are eliminated from the body, the liver can quickly recover. [4] Nevertheless, Amanita phalloide, such
an incredibly toxic mushroom, becomes an important study object in MD Anderson Cancer Center
which might be used to cure cancer. It is also unimaginable that α amanitin is the main substance used
in α amanitin based antibody drug, which have positive application. In fact, amanitin, as a highly toxic
peptide that is produced by the death cap and that selectively inhibits mammalian RNA polymerase
[5], contains many categories (α amanitin, β amanitin, γ amanitin and ε Amanitin). α amanitin is a
cyclic peptide of eight amino acids, as the graph

Behavioral Leadership With Contingency, Transformational,...
Comparison the trait of behavioral leadership with contingency, transformational, and transactional
leadership models. Leadership is an art to influence subordinates in such a way that they voluntarily
and willingly do the pre specified amount of work in terms of specific objectives. Leadership includes
effect and change and it is the art of managing people with others (Afjeh, 2006). There are four kinds
of leadership that behavioral, contingency, transformational, and transactional leadership. This essay
will introduce the trait of behavioral leadership by comparing and contrasting with the trait of
contingency, transformational, and transactional.
The topic of this essay is about the trait of behavioral, leadership comparing with contingency,
transformational, and transactional leaderships. It is significant for a business to choose the right
leader as leader is the people who could led the success or failure interests to the business. Trait
theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual
patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion (Saul Kassin, 2003). Traits are the identifying the personal
characteristics of the leaders. For instance, self confident, task competence, decisiveness and
conscientious so on are the characteristics of the leaders. If a leader can possess different traits then
the leader can be able to solve the diverse situations, and no single leader can have whole series of
traits to settle any situation.

The Story Of Joseph As A History Lesson
The story of Joseph is one of my favorite in the Bible. Not because it has a happy ending, but because
it shows us some incredible attributes of God. As with most biblical study, it s important to not read
the story of Joseph as a history lesson, but rather to focus in on what God is doing, what is motivating
God, and how God responds to people. In this case, there are some profound theological concepts that
can be recognized from just looking a little deeper into the scriptures, past the narrative of what s
happening with Joseph. We get both a wonderful image of God s grace and of His beautiful design for
how things work together for those who love Him. Further, we see God as constantly at work, more
even in the grimy, messy times when it probably seems to Joseph that He is the furthest away. In many
ways, the underlying theme through the story of Joseph s life directly addresses one of my biggest
questions early in my walk in faith: If God is good, why does He let bad things happen?
The story of Joseph starts well before he was born, and the setting of things that would happen to him
later in life really began when his father Jacob met his mother. The Bible tells us that Jacob took to
Rachel, Joseph s mother, immediately. In Genesis 29:10 11 (ESV), it says Now as soon as Jacob saw
Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother s brother, Jacob
came near and rolled the stone from the well s mouth and watered the flock of Laban his

Nonverbal Verbal And Verbal Language
Nonverbal and Verbal Language is Powerful When a friend says hi to you and waves his hand, would
you think that you are being welcomed? Or, when a friend says goodbye without looking at you,
would you think you are being neglected? Everyday, we interact with different people to exchange our
ideas, and we share our thoughts through communication. However, people do not recognize that our
communication is divided into nonverbal language and verbal language, and this paper demonstrates
the concept of kinesics and the concept of haptics from the nonverbal communication and the concept
of slang and the concept of powerful and powerless language from the verbal communication through
a television show The Real O Neal, The Real Heartbreak , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By hitting the floor and yelling out, it allows receivers to easily understand her meaning. We can also
compare the difference effect between using kinesics and not using kinesics in another scenario. I
suppose there is a district attorney in a court trial to press charges against a defendant who commits a
third degree of murder, and the lawyer has to prove to the members of the jury that the defendant is a
cruel murder. When he illustrates the incident of the crime, he uses a sharp pen to stab on the table in
front of the jury while he speaks about how the murder uses a sharp knife to stab on the victim until
the victim is bled to death. Using a sharp pen to stab on the table is kinesics, and the demonstration
strengthens the district attorney s ideas and it helps the jury to better understand the crime. On the
defendant side, the defendant s lawyer defends the murder by telling the jury that stabbing the victim
is an unintentional action because the defendant slips and loses his balance. When the defendant s
lawyer does cross examination, he only verbally presents the story. This weakens his argument
because the jury does not see any illustration to support his claim. When the verdict comes out, the
defender is found guilty of the third degree of murder. From the communication between the two
lawyers and the jury, we see the district attorney presents a stronger argument to the jury than the
defender s attorney because he uses words and body languages

Movie Theater Research Paper
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved taking part in the cinematic experience. Every
aspect of it, including purchasing my ticket, eating buttery popcorn, and watching every trailer before
the film completely and totally encapsulates me to this very day. So, it should come as no surprise that
at the ripe age of 21, I am currently working at AMC Southdale, a high end movie theater in Edina,
MN. There are certain perks that come with being an employee at AMC that benefit cinephiles such as
myself exceptionally well, including free tickets to the movies. Sufficed to say, when March 11 came
around and 10 Cloverfield Lane was released in theaters, I was more than ready to take advantage of
my free pass to the movies and go see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After paying for two ICEES, my boyfriend and I went up to the theater s second level and sat down in
the VIP booth, a separate, boxed off section of the auditorium with reclining seats. I eagerly settled in,
anxiously and excitedly waiting to see how J.J. Abrams continued the anthology of his 2008 movie,
Cloverfield, an alien monster movie recorded shaky cam style (he has been very ambiguous on how
the films connect...always and forever keeping fans at bay). Even before the previews began, I was
theorizing on whether or not there would be aliens, if John Goodman s character was telling the truth
about an attack, and what it was the woman saw outside the window.

WARNING: Minor spoilers ahead!
10 Cloverfield Lane was a highly anticipated film for J.J. Abrams fans once the well kept secret of its
existence was revealed (a characteristic the production company Bad Robot is known for) mere
months before its debut. The tagline for the film, Monsters come in many forms , as well as the trailer
were both very ambiguous in nature and left the viewers with several unanswered questions. It turns
out, this was the perfect way to watch the movie, with very little knowledge about it. The film follows
the story of Michelle, a fashion design student who, after running out on her fiancée, is involved in a
car crash and ends up in

  • 2. Light In The Forest Johnny Tremain Analysis Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, and Johnny Tremain, by Esther Forbes, are two incredibly distinct novels, each with their own similarities and differences when compared to one another. True Son, the protagonist in Light in the Forest, is a fifteen year old boy raised by a tribe of Delaware Indians for the past eleven years of his life. Though he is biologically American, he wholeheartedly considers himself a full blooded Indian. This not only creates turmoil when he is forcibly moved to his biological white family but causes True Son confusion when he is forced to choose between not only his two families but his two other identities as well. On the other hand, Johnny Tremain, the protagonist in the novel Johnny Tremain, faces a completely different situation for he is a fourteen year old boy living in colonial Boston. He is at first entirely self centered and arrogant due to his prodigious gifts as a silversmith apprentice. However, when an unfortunate injury results in him having a crippled hand, this destroys any chance of him being an adequate silversmith. He faces humiliation but through many struggles and difficulties transforms into a patriotic man. Through analyzing the two novels, there were many similarities and differences found. Similarities include the difficult journey they both encounter as well as their similar behavior. On the contrary, both individuals differ through their race and how they were brought up. Both True Son and Johnny Tremain desire to stay in a comfortable setting. They greatly enjoy their life and make no wish to change it. And yet, both characters were forced to face hardships which ultimately changes both their situation as well as their perspectives in life. For instance, Johnny Tremain had a comfortable position in life. He was widely considered the most talented young silversmith in Boston. Though he was egotistic, he was destined for a bright future. Regrettably, when molten silver disfigured his hand he lost his chance at ever becoming a silversmith and can no longer find skilled work. Filled with self pity and despair, he almost turns to a life of crime. Only his friendships and new job with a Whig newspaper company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction The aim of this study is to investigate the stock price reaction of FirstEnergy and Allegheny to various merger related announcements. The study will also identify the presence of any run up abnormal returns prior to the first formal announcement due to potential information leakages, insider trading or rumours. FirstEnergy is an energy company that formed in 1997, as a result of the merger between Ohio Edison and Centerior, which serves a large customer base. FirstEnergy and its subsidiaries provide utility goods and services as a private enterprise and, as a result, form one of the USA s largest investor owned utility companies. FirstEnergy announced plans to acquire Allegheny Energy, an electric utility company formed in 1925, in 2010 and the merger, worth $4.7 billion, was completed the following year. The paper differs from others as it will provide insight and evaluation into which event during the merger process had the largest effect and identify whether this was the same for both firms, especially since the merger was undertaken in a tough regulatory environment which contains many hurdles (). The results of this paper could be attributed to other firms in the industry or, potentially, to other industries with similar regulatory structures. The structure of this proposal, which will be consistent with the final paper excluding the empirical findings, proceeds as follows. Section 2 reviews selected literature based on the focus areas. • 4. The Tragedy Of Antigone By Sophocles The play Antigone, composed by Sophocles, informs us that fate cannot be controlled by anyone. Fate is an essential part of many tragedies. As for the characters in Antigone, their fates end up being unavoidable, whether it is due to the reason that they refused to accept it until it was very late, or they accepted the fate and permitted it to come to pass. The character s lives possess set conclusions, and there exits some clues on what these conclusions shall be, and when they shall happen. The characters are frequently capable of knowing their fate and reacting to it. At certain periods, characters accept their fate since it is vital to them, or they trust that it is unavoidable (Stegar, 1). A vital theme of Antigone is the conflict amidst fate and a person s action. Whereas free decisions, like the choice of Antigone to disobey Creon s orders, are important, fate is actually accountable for most of the very overwhelming and vital occurrences of the trilogy. Through raising the fate s significance, Sophocles implies that characters cannot be completely accountable for their undertakings. It gets challenging, for instance, to blame Oedipus for marrying mother, provided his ignorance (Shmoop, 3). The main character s fate in the play Antigone by Sophocles shows the risks of extreme pride. The forces of the gods or fate, bears grave and weighty impacts on the lives of human beings. Various tragic results might certainly arise from the will of the gods, and not simply a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, Boeing jets were involved in four fatal air accidents from December 1988 to March 1989, and the company missed its first delivery deadline in two decades when the 747 400 experienced production delays. Furthermore, worldwide orders of all aircraft by the airliners declined from 1,662 in 1989 to 439 in 1991. • 8. An Army At Dawn Essay The book An Army at Dawn: The War in North Africa 1942 1943 gives the reader valuable insight into the campaign in North Africa in 1942 1943 for both Allied and the German forces. The narrative follows the American and British armies as they fought the Vichy French in Morocco and Algiers, and then later when they fight the Germans and the Italians for Tunisia. The novel follows the inexperienced and ill led soldiers from battle to battle as they gradually become a more cohesive and deadly fighting force. This novel also centers around the almost mythical but also flawed commanders who dominate the battlefield and write their names in the history books: Eisenhower, Patton, Bradley, Montgomery, and Rommel. The author, Patrick Atkinson, lays out a spectacular narrative on what was happening during Operation Torch and in the North African Campaign. In analyzing the narrative, the author s main points consist of the Allies (American and British) and German strategy/thinking during the campaign. The other main points consist of the ally defeats and failures during the campaign which resulted in them having to re strategize and rethink of how to defeat the Nazi forces under the command of Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel. All of this cumulates to his important main point, which was that the Allies gained enough vital experience from their past defeats to win the overall campaign. • 9. The Psychology of The Gambler Essay The Psychology of The Gambler In Fyodor Dostoyevsky s The Gambler, we are presented with a novel whose protagonist is what we would call today a problem gambler. The gambling mania of the story s hero, Alexei Ivanovitch, is a mirror of Dostoyevsky s own gambling compulsion. The heroine, Polina Alexandrovna, represents a woman Dostoyevsky had as a real lover. Polina is the stepdaughter of the General, who Alexei works for as a servant. The General shows paranoia over gambling from the outset of the story. How, for instance, is it worse than trade? True, out of a hundred persons, only once can win; yet what business is that of yours or mine? (Dostoyevsky 8). When it comes to writers and writing, there is an old maxim that is often repeated, Write what you know. Dostoyevsky seems to have taken this advice to heart when it comes to his own writing. For the gambler is based on a real love affair had by the author as well as being a first hand account of the behaviors and psyches of the addicted gambler (which he was for a period of time). As Christine McKay (2) points out, The Gambler is based on Dostoyevsky s love affair with Apollinaria Suslova as well as his frequent casino visits to play roulette, which he began playing in 1863, at a time when he was extremely poor. He experienced first hand the excesses of gambling so aptly described in The Gambler. In the situation of an OR nurse watching a doctor perform surgery, being a patient advocate is key. The nurse s patient is unconscious and cannot speak for themselves. Watching to make sure that whatever part of the body is being worked on is thoroughly inspected and all tools used in the surgical procedure are accounted for is one of the most effective ways that a nurse can intervene. Being a patient advocate also means telling the surgeon when a nurse happens to find something left behind. This too gives context to why when democracy, or rule by the people, is mentioned today, the word does not have the same connotation as it did to the inhabitants of colonial North America. Similarly, the democracy of the 1800s, colloquially known as the early republic period, was different from democracy during the time of the revolution. The tradition in colonial Virginia, for instance, was that democratic voting power only applied to the aristocratic members of the clergy. In New England, only the property holding elect had a say in town decisions. This tradition of not quite equality in democracy held through to revolutionary times. As Stanley N. Katz puts it, Indeed, during most of American history, framers of constitutions, lawmakers, and judges avoided committing the nation to the protection of individual equality. Because of the strength of majorities, laissez faire economic policy, and an increase in opportunity, democracy replaced tradition as the provider of political power during the early republic in the northern United States. White males gained universal suffrage because of their numbers, breaking the aristocratic property based tradition. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house had a worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota weather. At the end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of the driveway was a large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the wall was a stairway that leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick shed further away. Beyond the house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of trees my grandpa planted when he moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and I have aged, grown, and changed together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house through a wood lacquer door. The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa. Once inside, to my right, is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the holidays we gather there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves with the sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or ham was not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I would salivate anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed. Straight ahead of the entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood floor beams that were never completed. The basement was their storage space and where their appliances were such as their water heater, which gave off a soft hum. • 26. Symbolism Of Summer Night s Dream Summer Night s Dream (The Voice) painted by Edvard Munch in 1893, depicts a single female figure standing in a field with a water landscape behind her. Edvard Munch was greatly influenced by the works of Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin. He was particularly interested in their ideas of using color as a way to express emotion, feeling, and importance rather than form. The world he is depicting is a rendition of the world he sees. It is not supposed to be completely realistic it is supposed to reflect what Munch is feeling and what he is seeing in his head. This idea is what brands him as one of the greatest symbolist painters of all time. Symbolism is the art movement that occurred roughly during the late 1800s. Munch s theory on art is that art is the opposite of nature , it isn t supposed to be an exact replica of what is being seen but rather using what one is seeing as inspiration for one s emotions (Chipp pg. 114). The idea is that nature is not supposed to be replicated because nature is its own great realm that one must not interfere with. Art is supposed to be a reflection of the artist and their emotions and how the natural world they are in makes them feel. This is a more drastic shift away from impressionism than the post impressionists. Instead of slightly changing the world that surrounds them, like the post impressionists, Munch, and other symbolists, completely changed the world to reflect their feelings. Edvard Munch is mostly revered for his angst ridden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Silibinin Research Paper Although Amanita phalloide resembles a small and adorable umbrella, its dreadful virulence is extremely hazardous. Amanita phalloides is one of the most poisonous of all known toadstools and it is estimated that only half a mushroom contains enough toxin to kill an adult person. It has proved that possibly the deaths of Roman Emperor Claudius in AD 54 and Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI in 1740 is caused by it. The principal toxic constituent is α amanitin, a highly stable protein that the body has great difficulty in completely eliminating, which damages the liver and kidneys, causing hepatic and renal failure that can be fatal. The specific reason why alpha amanitin has such strong effect is that it is a potent inhibitor of DNA dependent RNA polymerase II. It obstructs the formation of mRNA, eventually stops the constitution of protein and induces apoptosis especially in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 28. Behavioral Leadership With Contingency, Transformational,... Comparison the trait of behavioral leadership with contingency, transformational, and transactional leadership models. Leadership is an art to influence subordinates in such a way that they voluntarily and willingly do the pre specified amount of work in terms of specific objectives. Leadership includes effect and change and it is the art of managing people with others (Afjeh, 2006). There are four kinds of leadership that behavioral, contingency, transformational, and transactional leadership. This essay will introduce the trait of behavioral leadership by comparing and contrasting with the trait of contingency, transformational, and transactional. The topic of this essay is about the trait of behavioral, leadership comparing with contingency, transformational, and transactional leaderships. It is significant for a business to choose the right leader as leader is the people who could led the success or failure interests to the business. Trait theorists are primarily interested in the measurement of traits, which can be defined as habitual patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion (Saul Kassin, 2003). Traits are the identifying the personal characteristics of the leaders. For instance, self confident, task competence, decisiveness and conscientious so on are the characteristics of the leaders. If a leader can possess different traits then the leader can be able to solve the diverse situations, and no single leader can have whole series of traits to settle any situation. ... • 29. The Story Of Joseph As A History Lesson The story of Joseph is one of my favorite in the Bible. Not because it has a happy ending, but because it shows us some incredible attributes of God. As with most biblical study, it s important to not read the story of Joseph as a history lesson, but rather to focus in on what God is doing, what is motivating God, and how God responds to people. In this case, there are some profound theological concepts that can be recognized from just looking a little deeper into the scriptures, past the narrative of what s happening with Joseph. We get both a wonderful image of God s grace and of His beautiful design for how things work together for those who love Him. Further, we see God as constantly at work, more even in the grimy, messy times when it probably seems to Joseph that He is the furthest away. In many ways, the underlying theme through the story of Joseph s life directly addresses one of my biggest questions early in my walk in faith: If God is good, why does He let bad things happen? The story of Joseph starts well before he was born, and the setting of things that would happen to him later in life really began when his father Jacob met his mother. The Bible tells us that Jacob took to Rachel, Joseph s mother, immediately. In Genesis 29:10 11 (ESV), it says Now as soon as Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother s brother, Jacob came near and rolled the stone from the well s mouth and watered the flock of Laban his ... Or, when a friend says goodbye without looking at you, would you think you are being neglected? Everyday, we interact with different people to exchange our ideas, and we share our thoughts through communication. However, people do not recognize that our communication is divided into nonverbal language and verbal language, and this paper demonstrates the concept of kinesics and the concept of haptics from the nonverbal communication and the concept of slang and the concept of powerful and powerless language from the verbal communication through a television show The Real O Neal, The Real Heartbreak , ... We can also compare the difference effect between using kinesics and not using kinesics in another scenario. I suppose there is a district attorney in a court trial to press charges against a defendant who commits a third degree of murder, and the lawyer has to prove to the members of the jury that the defendant is a cruel murder. When he illustrates the incident of the crime, he uses a sharp pen to stab on the table in front of the jury while he speaks about how the murder uses a sharp knife to stab on the victim until the victim is bled to death. Using a sharp pen to stab on the table is kinesics, and the demonstration strengthens the district attorney s ideas and it helps the jury to better understand the crime. On the defendant side, the defendant s lawyer defends the murder by telling the jury that stabbing the victim is an unintentional action because the defendant slips and loses his balance. When the defendant s lawyer does cross examination, he only verbally presents the story. This weakens his argument because the jury does not see any illustration to support his claim. When the verdict comes out, the defender is found guilty of the third degree of murder. From the communication between the two lawyers and the jury, we see the district attorney presents a stronger argument to the jury than the defender s attorney because he uses words and body languages ...
