3. WHAT IS COMPARATIVE?
o Comparatives are used to show the difference between two
objects.
o For example: I have two cars. I have a little Ford and a big Range
Rover. A comparative is used to show the difference between the
two.
o Because the Range Rover is big, we can say “The Range Rover is
bigger than the Ford.”
o Also, because the Ford is small, we can also say “The Ford is
smaller than the Range Rover.”
4. WHAT IS SUPERLATIVE?
o Superlatives are used to show the difference between more than
two objects. They’re also used to compare one thing against the
rest of the group.
o For example: I have three cars. I have a little Toyota, a medium size
BMW and a big Range Rover. A superlative is used to show the
differences that exist in the group.
o Because the Range Rover is big, we can say “The Range Rover is
the biggest.”
o Because the Toyota is small, we can say “The Toyota is the
smallest.”
