Sample Comparative Analysis Essay
Crafting a "Sample Comparative Analysis Essay" can be quite challenging, requiring a
combination of critical thinking, research skills, and a deep understanding of the subject matter.
The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive analysis of two or more subjects but
also in maintaining a balanced perspective throughout the essay.
To start with, one must dedicate significant time to researching and gathering relevant
information about the subjects under scrutiny. This involves delving into various sources, ranging
from academic articles and books to online databases. The challenge here is to sift through the
vast sea of information and select data that is not only pertinent but also supports the arguments
you intend to make.
Next, the writer must organize the gathered information coherently, ensuring a logical flow
throughout the essay. This involves creating a well-structured outline that delineates the key
points to be addressed in each section. Striking a balance between presenting detailed analyses
and avoiding information overload is another difficulty faced during this stage.
Furthermore, maintaining objectivity is crucial in a comparative analysis essay. It demands the
ability to critically assess and compare different aspects of the subjects without succumbing to
personal biases. Balancing the evaluation of strengths and weaknesses while offering insightful
commentary adds an extra layer of complexity.
Language proficiency and writing style are also critical factors. Effectively conveying complex
ideas and analyses requires a mastery of language and an ability to articulate thoughts clearly.
Striking the right balance between formal and engaging language poses yet another challenge.
In conclusion, writing a "Sample Comparative Analysis Essay" is a demanding task that requires
extensive research, organizational skills, objectivity, and linguistic proficiency. However,
overcoming these challenges can result in a well-crafted essay that offers valuable insights into
the subjects under consideration.

The Importance Of A College Education
The importance of a college education is critical in bettering a person s life and the
lives of their loved ones. To obtain a well paying job, a person must seek a higher
education by graduating from a college or university. Their education will give them
the knowledge they need to obtain a career in their desired field. A college education
is very expensive and the cost of tuition continues to rise. There is student fees, room
and board, traveling expenses, meal plans, and books and supplies. These fees start
adding up quickly. There are many other additional expenses a student must pay to
attend college besides tuition. There is also not enough government assistance and
scholarships for each student that attends college. This forces many students to take
out loans and end up in debt. The amount of debt for a college education is rapidly
increasing. Student loans become a high financial burden with most loans totaling
near $30,000 by the time a person graduates. Most students do not have a full
understanding of the financial burden they place on themselves to where it is hard to
obtain prosperity after graduation.
Paying for a college education can be overwhelming and it can also cause a
financial hardship on the individual or their family. There are many student grants
and loans that can help someone pay for their education either through federal or
private loans. These loans include federal and state grants, Federal Stafford loans,
and Federal PLUS loans. There are also private scholarships, bank loans and many
other outside resources. The most popular form of financial assistantship is the
Federal Pell Grant. This type of assistantship does not have to be paid back by the
student. To determine if a student qualifies for the Federal Pell Grant, they must
apply for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), regardless of family income. Even though a
student may not receive free funding based off their family income, they still could
qualify for other kinds of scholarships and grants according to Time.com. The U.S.
Department of Education offers two federal student loan programs that include the
William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) program and the Federal Perkins
Loan program. The
Evolution of organisms shows the development of structure...
Grouping of organisms according to the similar anatomy helps to understand their
evolution and how those organisms have being developed over millions of years.
Similarly, structures of organisms have developed over years to function better to
survive on the earth. Even though some organisms are unicellular, while some are
multicelliular, both types of organisms have got particular structure to function that
helps to fulfill their needs. Thus, structure and function of the organisms, including
humans, portray the incredible creations of the nature (Campbell et al. 2008).

Even though every class has some common attributes such as segmented vertebrae,
specialization of the structure occurs in each class according to their function and the
surviving environment. As such, organisms in class reptilian have got distinctive
features that of aves, chondrichthyes, mamalia, and so on (Campbell et al. 2008).
The class reptilia is mostly terrestrial organisms. Class reptilian is included snakes,
lizards known as Gecko, crocodiles, and so on. The amniotic egg is the most
significant feature of reptilian. The amniotic egg is an essential stage of the life cycle
of reptilian that helps them to complete their life cycle without water. The body
structure of reptilians is specialized to survive in terrestrial environment.
Consequently, many reptilians have got four limbs for locomotion. Locomotion is
essential for reptilians to live in terrestrial environments (Campbell et al. 2008).
Furthermore, the organisms that are categorized into the class reptilian, have
different distinguish figures such as Gecko has sticky limbs that can hold them to the
smooth walls and run faster on it (Autumn and Peattie 2002).
Gecko, have got all other characteristics of the vertebrae. Geckos are able to climb
walls and have the ability to move on the surface such as upside down on ceilings
against the gravity (Autumn and Peattie 2002). Specialized feet of Gecko assist their

When people have a good connectivity at their disposal, with tremendous power of
distributed computing to supplement the same, we can think of connecting their
personal computers to the real world applications of managing school or any
institute . With this, people would be able to connect and disconnect, and manage
the handling of school at their home even from a distant place. One of the very
basic examples of a utility of this is there is no old file system now, every task is
now online. Students can deposit their school fees online now either by credit/debit
cards or by internet banking via bank gateway.Student registration will be

Realism s Effect on Chekhov and Stanislavsky, and their...
Realism played a huge role in the lives of Anton Chekhov and Konstantin
Stanislavsky. Both men made a huge impact on the world of theatre, and results
are still seen today. Elements from Chekhov s plays have influenced playwrights
that came after him, like the works of Tennessee Williams, who listed that Chekhov
had a huge impact on his writing. Stanislavsky s acting system, based on acting
truthfully, inspired many other acting systems that are still used today. Realism
was a huge movement in late 1800s to early 1900s. All art forms were influenced
by it. Writers, artists, actors and more started taking a more simple direction and
tried to depict life as it actually was. In visual art it was common to see ordinary
people doing every day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and Konstantin Stanislavsky founded the
Moscow Art Theatre on June 22, 1897, during an 18 hour luncheon at the
Slavyanski Bazar (The Stanislavsky Century). The two had set out to reform
Russian theatre and had the common goal in mind to create great art. Before they
set their rules and regulations into place, none officially existed. Actors would
show up either drunk or late and not have their lines learned. Stanislavsky and
Nemirovich wanted a place where there would be discipline and respect and great
art, thus the Moscow Art Theatre was born (The Stanislavsky Century). Konstantin
Stanislavsky, himself, also practiced ideas of naturalism. He was a theatre
practitioner and his roles served as actor and director, and he created the first acting
method. He functioned as the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre. In A
Sourcebook for Naturalist Theatre, there was a comparative statement to Chekhov
and Stanislavsky which read: In addition to the concept of acting truly , the practical
correlative to Chekhov s aim of depicting life as it really is , this extract outlines one
of the most important keys to Stanislavsky s system: establishing objectives, which in
terms of acting is the equivalent to the naturalists focus on motivation (Innes 54).
Stanislavsky wrote three novels that discuss his acting method; An Actor Prepares,
Building a Character, and Creating a Role. These books are from the perspective of a
Theme Of Colonialism In Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is a classic Victorian novel that shows the epic love
story between the heroine Jane and Mr Rochester. However, if a reader was to
delve deeper and look between the lines, they would realise that Bronte s novel in
fact covers a wide range of societal issues circulating in 1840 s England. I am going
to be exploring the connotations of colonialism, the blame of the mentally ill, and
the submissiveness of females that are described in chapter 27, when Mr
Rochester explains to Jane who his wife is and her backstory. Through Mr
Rochester, Bronte uses terminology that has racial connotations when referring to
Bertha. Mr Rochester conveyed Bertha from her home and safely lodged (her) in
that third story room . This presents colonial ideologies, as Bertha s possessions
became controlled and possessed by Mr Rochester and she in turn lost her
freedom. Bertha s race contributes to this perception as black people at the time
had little rights in society and were unable to have a high status. The comparison
between Bertha s black and scarlet visage and Jane being a dove shows Mr
Rochester s dislike of Bertha. Doves are typically a symbol of peace and the
embodiment of the Holy Spirit, whereas in contrast, Black and scarlet are colours
associated with evil, demons and witchcraft, all things black people are historically
accused of being involved with. This description of Bertha creates unease within the
reader. Mr Rochester refuses to speak

Firearm Investigation
Firearm investigation is a specialty of forensic science focusing on the examination
of firearms, (Rankin) and has been around for hundreds of years. One of the
earliest recorded cases was of a man shot and killed in 1784 England with a pistol.
The police found the wad of paper from the weapon and matched it to a piece of torn
newspaper in a suspect s pocket, sending him to jail (Triple Murder). In modern times,
examining the engravings, striations, and bullets, a trained eye can distinguish the
type of firearm used, and sometimes identify the exact one. Ballistics can help
recreate a crime scene by analyzing the wound size, damage, and angle of the bullet
hole, along with the distribution of ammunition and cartridges. Gunshot residue is
another commonly implemented technique testing hands, nearby objects, and the
target for particles burned within a gun. This both helps recreate the scene and
identifies those who have recently shot a gun (Rankin). Due to increases in gun
violence, research has advanced so that, through the use of databases, the unique
markings from spent ammunition can be tracked to a single firearm and identify the
shooter.
To understand the process of firearm investigations, it is important to understand the
mechanics of firing a gun. The most generic gun aims to convert chemical energy
into kinetic energy in order to expel a projectile from the firearm.
The Phantom Tollbooth Quotes
Have you ever read the Phantom Tollbooth? It is a book written by Norton Juster,
of The Dot and the Line. One of his most famous quotes is, ВЁYou can swim all

The Phantom Tollbooth is about a boy named Milo, who doesn t know what to do
with his life until a mysterious package in his room appears when he walks home
from school. When he drives through the ВЁphantom tollbooth,ВЁ he discovers
wonders beyond his imagination. These are three times he has changed in the story.
The first quote I found in the book where Milo changed was on page 20 when Milo

Mentoring Program to Reduce Juvenile Recidivism
Introduction
Youth are often confronted with socio economical and political challenges including
poverty, ethic and minority status and are often cited as at risk for committing long
term community problems like rise in crime due to substance abuse, school drop out
and several forms of academic failures, delinquencies, criminal offenses and
unemployment (e.g. Grisso, Vincent Seagrave, 2005; Champion Mays, 1991;
Fellmeth, 2002). According to Grisso and his colleagues (2005), the argument that in
order to help young offenders that were placed under rehabilitation centers reconnect
to community and avoid recidivism is to provide them education and employment
opportunities upon release. It is in this area where mentoring programs to ... Show

B. Mentoring Programs in Reducing Recidivism
Studies suggest that young people are often at risk of re offending (e.g. Sharkey, et al,
2003; Vincent Seagrave, 2005). Sharkey and his colleagues explained that youth often
reoffend since, as they prepare themselves in returning to their respective
communities, they are usually confronted by similar situations that had influenced
their behaviors prior to committing offenses. Another group of researchers however
show that youth engaged in education, employment and other productive endeavors
in their communities within 6 to 8 months after their release are less vulnerable to
commit another offense (e.g. Keating, et al., 2002, Bullis, et al, 2002, Grossman
Tierney, 2008). In the literature, mentoring programs are often advocated as an
effective intervention in helping young offenders in fostering one to one
relationships (a young offender with a caring adult) and in connecting them to
promising education and employment opportunities upon their release Supporters of
this view highlight that positive relationship with caring adults strengthens the
protective factors which help young offenders to overcome structural and institutional
hurdles to having healthy and productive lives. Keating,
Differences Between Book And Movie
There were many differences between the book and the movie. The characters in
the movie were very different from what I had imagined them to be. For example,
in the book, Benjamin s last name was different from that in the movie. In the
movie the love story between Ben and Irene was were powerful watching, Reading
it didn t have the same effect as visually seeing it. In the movie, the scene where
Irene tries to get Gomez to confess to the murder of Lilliana (she pushes him to the
extreme) this was not in the book. The soccer scene was also not in the book. In
the book, he is getting a bus ticket to leave town. In the movie, the ending of the
movie was powerful. He was in jail for life. The vibe I got from the book was very
different. Gomez
The Jewish People Essay
The Jewish people believe that society is currently living in the end of one of four
time periods that pertain to the fulfillment of the end time prophecy. This time
period is considered the Pre Messianic period, meaning the Messiah has yet to come.
In this period, God will bring about redemption in His own time. The Jewsbelieve that
if all of Israelwere to return to God, the Messiah would come and the final
redemption would be immediate. According to the Biblical text, there are many
prophecies that must come to past before redemption occurs. A few of these
prophetic signs concerning Israel have already been fulfilled. For instance, the
dispersion and regathering of the Jews was prophesied and has since occurred.
The Bible accounts for two separate gatherings of the Jews in the land of Israel.
The first is to be a gathering in disbelief; this prophecy was fulfilled when the state
of Israel was created in 1948. During this time the Jewish people will despise the
values of their religion in the generations preceding the Messiah. The government
will remain godless and immoral. Neither parents nor elders will be respected and
families will turn against one another. The second gathering is yet to come, but will
be one in which the Jews regather in belief for redemption and is in conjunction
with the coming of the Messiah. More signs of the pre Messianic Era include: a
population explosion, times of great suffering will occur, the Holy Temple will be
rebuilt, the war of Gog
D1 Human Homeostasis
Human homeostasis refers to the body s ability to regulate its inner environment to
ensure its stability in response to fluctuations in the outside environment like the
weather. The basic main purpose of feedback systems is to maintain homeostasis.
It is any living thing s ability to keep a constant internal environment through
homeostasis, which is an important part of living things. Additionally, a stable
internal environment requires constant changes as conditions change inside and
outside. The changes within a cell is known as homeostatic regulation it is the state
of balance in the body, this is where the body systems work together to keep it
functioning at a normal rate that the body needs. As well as that they is also the

The Lives and Works of Raymond Carver
With a unique and brilliant style of writing, Raymond Carver has left a lasting and
outstanding impact on the history of short stories. Even though Raymond Carver
left a long impact, his life was of the opposite. Like Raymond Carver s famous
award winning stories, his life was short. Raymond Carver was born on May 25th,
1938 in Clatskanie, Oregon, a mill town on the Columbia River. Carver grew up in
Yakima, Washington. Carver had three members to his small family, his mother,
his father, and brother. Carver s only had one sibling, his younger brother, James
Franklin Carver. Carver s mother worked as a waitress and a retail clerk while Carver

drinking. I d do anything it took. I loved Ray, first, last and always. Even though she
loved him, Maryann could not take it anymore, and eventually ended her marriage
with Carver. This time period was known as the time of Carver s first life.
Carver found himself in a very dark place. Carver now suffered from alcoholism,
many different drug addictions, and even depression as a result of his divorce.
Although Carver s life was looking down, he did not give up. Three years later,
Carver decided to pull his life together. He attended many Alcoholics Anonymous
meetings a decided to take up writing. Carver even got re married. After finally
getting his life back together, Carver decided to start writing again. This time in his
life is the time that he created some of his most famous short stories. The following
are some of those stories: What We Talk about When We Talk about Love , The
Cathedral , and Elephant. Carver s second marriage, turn around with his alcoholism
and drug addictions, and new writings are all included in what is known as Raymond
Carver s second life. (King)
During Carver s second life. Carver wrote many different types of short stories. The
style and themes of the stories vary greatly. Many of Carver s first short stories were
influenced by his early life when he grew up with an alcoholic as a father. His
Empowering The Local Government As A Local Community
Nicole: That municipalities, mayors, and council members have the tools that they
need to manage their constituents. So when I think about being the Mayor here in
Manitou Springs and as unique as we feel we are, for example last night we
discussed sexually oriented businesses and we are the only municipality in El Paso
Countywith recreational marijuana, you know a variety of things that we have
catered to our own municipality, I would love to be able to turn around on those steps
and say that I have helped to create well rounded and broad policy for municipalities
and local government at the smaller level to do exactly what they need for their
specific unique community.
Dustin: So empowering local government?
Nicole: Yes.
Dustin: That s awesome.
Nicole: And you know yeah I mean really, and I m just going to talk to sort of
randomly right now. When I think about empowering local governments and I
think about this current mayoral campaign and I think about some of the council
members I have on my board and someone like Pete Lee who have their own
agenda, not that not necessarily self serving, although it may be, they re not
coming from a place of thinking that it s self serving, but they just have a tunnel
vision for specific agenda, I don t have that. I don t necessarily want to unless it s
essential for my job. For example, as I run for mayor again, the items that I m
talking about trying to address for the next two years have come up over the past two
years as we ve gone
Adrienne Rich s Of Woman Born – The End of
Motherhood Essay
Of Woman Born The End of Motherhood
In Of Woman Born, Adrienne Rich effectively weaves her own story into a
convincing account of what it means to become a mother within the bonds of
patriarchal culture. Her conclusion that the institution of motherhood, which she
distinguishes from motherhood, must be destroyed in order to release the creation
and sustenance of life into the same realm of decision, struggle, surprise, imagination,
and conscious intelligence, as any other difficult, but freely chosen work is
substantiated by her courageous confession that contradicts culturally normative
notions of motherhood.

because [she] felt [her] own needs acutely and often expressed them violently (32) by
raging at her children out of frustration, provides a credible offering to break down an
institution that makes women like her angry. It also demonstrates some of the ways
in which motherhood has not been women s choice.
A reader might be stunned to consider that was written just twenty years ago and that
Rich s first pregnancy happened only forty three years ago, since her choices as an
educated woman were so limited compared to now. When her account of feeling
like she was only acting as a woman (having no idea what she wanted, and having a
child because it was expected of a real woman ) is introduced, her lack of choices
reads like either a dismal Margaret Atwood science fiction novel or a scene from the
very long ago past. Similary, when Rich cites her example of a primitive attitude by
quoting a doctor s medical opinion that women are psychologically unbalanced when
they attempt to resist the demands of the institution [of motherhood], (263) it is quite
surprising to realize that this opinion was written in 1967, a mere thirty years ago. In
this way, Rich s story is a tribute to all women who have fought her battle, the battle
to have the freedom to choose motherhood.
Rich must feel a deep sense of satisfaction in realizing that articulating her struggles
has helped many women. Her capacity to transcend her own circumstances is truly
remarkable

The silence grew long. Finally, Williams turned to look at Barton. Speechless was
not a word most people could imagine applying to Jim Barton. His energy and
outspokenness as head of the Loan Operations department made him one of IVK s
most dynamic executives, a key player and a likely CEO someday of a different
company, if not this one. But the news Williams had conveyed moments before had
left Barton silent, dumbfounded. A few minutes earlier Barton had rushed to William
s office, summoned for his turn with the new chief. All morning, leadership team
members had marched down that hallway one at a time, each after receiving a
phone call, each on a journey to discover his or her fate. As the executive assistant
greeted him courteously and waved him in, Barton allowed himself some optimism.
Most likely, he thought, he was about to receive a promotion. He d done a good job,
been a big contributor as the company had grown to its present size. Something like
Chief Operating Officer would fit him quite nicely. 1 The Hero Called to Action
On the other hand, to hear that he was being asked to leave would not have
enormously surprised him. He hadn t done anything to warrant such treatment. But
unexpected things happen when companies are in crisis. The logic behind executive

Sometimes, Barton thought there was little logic to it at all. The timing of his

Analysis Of Taxi Driver
Written by Paul Schrader and directed by Martin Scorsese Taxi Driver is a movie
designed around a marine veteran, Travis, who becomes a taxi driver in New
York. He sets off to have a relationship like he sees all over town. However, Travis
is pretty bad about forming relationships even with coworkers which spill into a
relationship he tries to form and utterly fails. Besides being rejected he originally
seems like he is going down the wrong path, but the sequence of events changes and
he becomes a hero . Overall, this movie was created wonderfully and the amazing
acting performance from Robert De Niroas Travis really took this filmto another
level. The acting on top of the music and the background of the city throughout the
movie allows the viewer to feel like they are in the streets of New York with them.
One of the best scenes was when Travis went on a date with Betsy after taking her
to breakfast. For the date Travis decides to take her to an adult film playing at a
movie theater and she even says she doesn t like these types of movies. Travis
assures her the movie is good and during the movie Betsy leaves the theater telling
Travis how horrible it was. This is one of the first scenes that allow us to understand
something is not exactly right with Travis. This with the inability to sleep and being
a veteran leads the audience to believe he has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The
fact that Travis sees nothing wrong with the movie selection is a key part to
Woodrow Wilson Contributions
Woodrow Wilson (1856 1924) was elected President on the basis of domestic
issues in 1912, and re elected in 1916. He based his 1916 re election campaign
around the slogan he kept us out of war , and had worked hard to broker a
compromise peace. In early 1917 Berlin decided to launch all out submarine
warfare designed to sink American ships bringing supplies to Britain; in the
Zimmermann Telegram it proposed a military alliance with Mexico to fight a war
against the US. The nation was poorly armed when it went to war in April 1917,
but it had millions of potential fresh soldiers, billions of dollars, and huge supplies
of raw materials needed by the Allies. Officially Wilson kept the US independent
of the Allies. In 1918 Wilson took personal control of negotiations with Germany,
including the armistice. He issued his Fourteen Points, his view of a post war
world that could avoid another terrible conflict. It had an enormous impact on both
sides in Europe, and made him the man of the hour in Paris. A leader of the
Progressive Movement, he assembled a high powered group of academic advisors
to help him in Paris but his distrustful personality led him to break with a series of
close advisors, most notably Colonel House. He made a major blunder by refusing
to bring along any prominent Republicans to Paris, which politicised the American
debate and weakened his support. His main goal was a long term solution to end
warfare based on the League of Nationsand self determination of

The Classroom Observation
Classroom observation is a main approach of teaching research. Scholars or
researchers use video to record the real whole class and observe the teachers and
students actions, words and the efficiency in the class. Though the observation, they
analyze what approach is more suitable. This paper will select video 5 and video 3
as the material to do the classroom observation. Different aspects such as teachers
responds, questions, instructions notes and students behavior will be addressed to
analyze the efficacy of this class.
2. Brief introduction of video 3
The theme of english lesson in Video 3 is job interview with a large number of
students, nearly as many as fifty, who are native Chinese teenagers while teacher
may be a native English speakers( at least good at English). Because of the education
system in China, most of the Chinese students study English from Grade 3 in primary
school, who already have some basic English vocabulary and grammar storage like
simple greeting, food, verbs about movement and so on though not mastery in them.
Meanwhile, They are capable of making simple sentence. Therefore, teacher began to
teach students some English skills, like listening, in middle school. The lesson is
divided into three parts: pre listening, while listening, post listening. In the pre
listening part, this teacher lead students review some details about the listening
transcript. While listening, students answer the question sheet and afterwards, check

Psy 270 Week 1 Episode 2 Analysis
The show I am reviewing is House MD, specifically episode 2 in Season 2. The two
ways the doctors in House MD exemplify good doctor practices is through their
observational skills and ability to collaborate. To give a quick overview, Dr. House
is a diagnostician who is presented with a new case every episode. Initially, Dr.
House and his team write all the symptoms that the patient presents with, and then
they collaborate and discuss possible diagnoses. At first, they believe that the 9 year
old patient has terminal cancer. However, the patient appears to be too complacent
with the fact that she is going to die; this leads to Dr. House questioning if this
bravery is actually a symptom. Because of his observational skills and inclination not
to discount any possible symptoms, Dr. House discovers that the patient must have a
clot caused by the surgery to remove the benign tumor in her heart. Through
collaboration, Dr. House shows his skills of observation. In addition, another
important quality that the doctors have is the ability to collaborate. Dr. House
deduces that the excessive bravery, along with the recurrent hallucinations may be an
indication of a problem in the amygdala. With the help of Dr. House, the
diagnostician, Dr. Foreman, the neurosurgeon, and Dr. Wilson, the... Show more

constantly breaks and actively defies the rules of the hospital and of Dr. Cuddy.
Even when Dr. Cuddy tells Dr. House to stop performing dangerous, invasive
procedures to diagnose, Dr. House does not stop. In this episode, Dr. House
administers employing therapeutic hypothermia, meaning that they will cool her
body down to 21 Celsius to stop her heart, making her effectively dead. In addition,
Dr. House is addicted to vicodin, which often creates problems. In a couple of
episodes, Dr. House s team tries to get Dr. House to withdraw from vicodin, which

Comparing The Bridegroom, Saboteur, And Before The Law
According to Aristotle Man is a social animal , however when an individual is
forced to decide to either become accustomed with the set norms or take the risk of
continuing to believe in their inner voice that subsequently makes them a target of
public scrutiny. The external conflict between man and society takes place when a
person believes in something about a matter while their community disagrees with
those beliefs. The conflicts between an individual and the society are reflected in
these three short stories, The Bridegroom, Saboteur by Ha Jin, and Before the law
by Kafka. The protagonists are directly or indirectly affected by the powerful and
authoritative nature of laws made by their societies. Inequality of an individual in
their society can evoke a passive or predatory behavior which can cause great harm
to the society and to an individual s mentality, and the intimidating behavior of the
society leaves a person with no control over their life. The parable Before the Law is
a remarkable piece of work; it entails the element of... Show more content on

Hot Fuzz Culture
Hot Fuzz is a film that was made in 2007 in the United Kingdom. The film was
heavily influenced by the culture in which it was made, and artistically influenced
by the directing style. It is fitting, since two very British men wrote the movie for the
United Kingdom specifically. It was written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, both
natives. In an interview, Wright stated, We wanted to make a cop film
in the UK,
because there isn t really any tradition of cop films in the UK. So, it was absolutely
none like the sort of the ones in the 80 s and then very few in the 70 s. We ve got a
lot of TV cop shows, but we wanted to make a cop film. We felt that every other

He says, ...for example youths are seen as a constant problem throughout the film.
This reflecting the opinion of the British public. They are reflected as a negative
in this film, seen wearing tracksuits, hoodies, and suspect to graffiti. These are to
an extent true representation of youths in Britain. More social context is being
used during the film with the supermarket being build. The town is small and
seems to be very home grown and for there to be a Somerfield there is unusual and
was also occurring around Britain at the time, (Knapp). This film is reflecting on
the deeper issues of Britain at the time. There is a distinct gap between the
generations of the film. The Neighborhood Watch Alliance thinks the biggest issue
in the film is the youth loitering; not their own murders. This is a sometimes hidden
joke because the watch shares its initials with the N.W.A rap group. That group tries
to appeal to the younger generation whereas the film s N.W.A does not. The watch
would also rather get the youth drunk, illegally, in a pub rather than let them roam
the streets. During the 2000 s in Britain, the youth was being seen more and more as
a nuisance to the older generations. The children, though, help to foil the plan of the
older generation making them seem a little like the Mystery Inc. from Scooby doo.
While the children did break minor laws, they
Yus Tree Symbolism
The symbolism of the Christmas tree aka the Yule tree , has been around for many
centuries. Many can relate to being a kid and decorating the Christmas tree at home.
Those kind of memories are priceless. But would you believe, the tradition was
viewed as a pagan before it became a Christmas tradition.
The origins of the Christmas tree actually can be attributed to ancient people such as
the Egyptians and early Romans. The tree goes back to Prophet Jeremiah in the Old
Testament, (Jeremiah 10:2 4), but it was viewed as a pagan practice during this time.
The ancient Egyptians, Hebrews and Chinese used evergreen trees, wreaths, and
garlands to show symbolism of eternal life.
The traditions were considered heathen and pagan symbols by some like William
Bradford. In 1659 observance of December 25 outside of church was against the law
and you were fined for hanging decorations. But we can thank Queen Victoria for
bringing a Christmas tree to her Windsor Castle in 1848. And the tradition was born
in England, Canada and the United States. Although Germans used a small 4 foot
tree in height, while Americans like the grandeur of a tree from floor to ceiling.
Popular decorations were apples, nuts and marzipan cookies. Popcorn was interlaced
with berries and nuts after being dyed bright colors. And soon after Martin Luther a

Cellular Respiration Rate
This article synthesizes the effects of temperature on the rate of cellular respiration.
The method used employed the use of gas sensors and a respiration chamber to test
how different temperatures influenced the rate of cell respiration in worms. Based on
this experiment, it was noted that temperature indeed does affect the rate of
respiration in cells. Low temperatures were seen to slow down the rate of respiration
while extremely high temperatures were also noted to slow down the rate of
respiration. The results of the study are important in finding the optimum
temperatures in which organisms can thrive in and also contribute significantly to the

Worms were exposed to these temperatures and their rate of respiration was observed
for individual temperature. The main objective of the study was to find out the effect
of temperature change on the rate of cellular respiration. (Lab Handout)
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of temperature change on the rate
of cellular respiration and to compare the rate of cell respiration of worms.
HYPOTHESIS:
The rate of respiration in worms will be lower at 4Лљc and 37Лљc than it would be
at 24Лљc.
METHODS:
In this experiment, LabQuest, sensors (O2 and CO2 gas sensors), thermometer,
worms, incubator, Biochamber 250, ice cubes, two plastic tubs and a water bath
were used. The CO2 gas sensor was set to low (0 10,000 ppm) and the two sensors
were connected to LabQuest. The rate on the meter screen was set to 0.1 samples
/second and the data collection length to 600 seconds. The room temperature was
measured and recorded. Eight worms were placed inside the respiration chamber.
The O2 gas sensor was plugged snugly into the chamber in a vertical position and the

Essay on Stereotypes of Hispanic Women in Cinema
The Latina women, even throughout the era resistance cinema, have not been able to
make much progress in overcoming the degrading stereotypes that Hollywood has
created for them. Despite the many advances that minorities have made in the cinema
in recent years, Latina actresses still take on the roles of the dark skinned lady and
other such stereotypes with strong sexual connotations. It is often debatable whether
or not the role of the Latina has undergone dramatic changes since the days of
Dolores Del Rio and Carmen Miranda dancing with the fruit baskets on top of their
heads. However, in recent years there has been an emphasis by various Latinas in the
film industryto combat such stereotypical rolesand redefine themselves... Show more

This character began to appear in the 1930 s, at the same time that an audio
component was introduced into cinema. The audience was not however interested
in the voice of the vamp but rather for her appearance and sex appeal. She was
often depicted as exotic and sensual. As Tara Osorio writes, In early cinema,
Hollywood represented Latinas as ignorant, and valued their striking appearance and
figure rather than their intelligence, character, and personalities. (Tara Osorio) With
the introduction of musicals into cinema, there were many opportunities for vamp
roles. There were three particular women in early cinema who were infamous for
portraying the vamp character. Carmen Miranda, Dolores Del Rio, and Lupe Velez
were typecast in such roles and were seen in the majority of films produced in these
decades.
This character represented an image that was offensive and insulting to many. The
character did not have many diverse elements and was a rather one dimensional
figure. It was even more damaging when you take into account that the same role
was repeated, often by the same actress in a myriad of films. As one actress Rita
Moreno describes after she had played a similar spitfire character fourteen times in

It s really demeaning after you ve won the Oscar to be offered the same role over and

The Amazon Rainforest is home to an estimated one third of all known animal

soybeans. ( Brazil Geography Introduction. N.p., n.d. Web. 4 May 2016.) While

The Pros And Cons Of Satanic Groups
While hundred of thousands of Satanic ritual abuse cases were reported in the
United States the past thirty years, there are still some problematic concerns about
the validity of the subject (Richardson et al, 1996: 28). Does Satanic ritual abuse
really exist? This question has been asked multiple times by the public as well as
health professionals. The main reason behind this tormenting question is that there
is little to no evidence of Satanic groups not just in the United States, but
everywhere around the world. In fact, the groups are strictly secretive and they opt
for a what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas kind of belief system. Any member who
dares reveal an event from their Satanic group risk their lives greatly (Stone, Stone,

The World Is Flat, By Thomas L. Friedman
The World Is Flat is a visionary and insightful text written by Thomas L. Friedman. In
short, the text brings about the study of globalization at its forefront. Moreover,
Friedman analyzes the evolution of business and importance of information with
respect not only to the 21st century, but with regards to the history of trade as we
know it. It is from this study and understanding that Friedman engages in a detailed
thought process as to how an institution, government, or individual can remain
competitive in such a progressive environment. In summary, through engaging in the
fifteen chapters and recalling the historical events used as evidence, one may arrive at
more substantial conclusion as to how certain entities will remain ahead of... Show

To explain with an example, Friedman gives the reader a story, stating when I was
growing up, my parents told me, Finish your dinner. People in China and India are
starving. I tell my daughters, Finish your homework. People in India and China are
starving for your job (270). Apparent in this personal example is the presence of two
critical arguments of the text. First and foremost, the quote draws a contrast between
two generations and highlights the fact that they are in some respects, exponentially
different. Thus, Friedman is able to reinforce his claims of how rapidly changing
the world truly is. Secondly, he uses this example of drastic change occurring from
one generation to the next to reference on of the driving forces or catalysts. To
clarify, the reference to China and India s population as eager for a job opportunity
indirectly reemphasizes the effects of the spread of information as well as the
strength of outsourcing. From this quote, the reader gathers that individuals outside
of their home state have the ability to do their job and will do so without ever having
to step into their country. Again, Friedman puts into context the vast contribution that
the web and other information sharing technologies have given the globe. Although
there are more detailed explanations and relevant evidence, this quote serves as a
fairly strong summary of Friedman s arguments in the first half of the text. Whereas
the first half of Friedman s work aims to

Many parents monitor what their child is reading. When something is brought

when a book is threatening towards their child it should immediately be removed

happens quite often, but in realization no child should be told what they are
allowed or not allowed to read by another student s parent. Some parents have even
began to call them challenged books because they believe the term is too harsh,
and sounds too much like censorship. Once again the term fear manifests itself;
parents are extremely afraid of what their child can find in between the pages of a

Motor Vehicles In The 1920 s
The automobile dates back to the later part of the 19th century when Henry Ford
made the first car for the common man. The middle class could go wherever they
wanted to go, whenever they wanted to go at a reasonable cost (Automobiles). An
era of speed and travel, the demand for transportation boomed. An affordable and
faster way to get around, owning an automobilebecame a reality for most citizens
living in the middle class. The Big Three automobile producers of the time were
General Motors, Chrysler, and Ford. The automobile allowed new production
methods, charting new territory in mass, and creating and supplying burgeoning
domestic and international markets (Coopey). Motor vehicles in the 1920 s had a
positive effect on the world in the 20th century as it does in the current day.

stepped cone slot ground antenna. The dependence of the bandwidth on the main
parameters design had been investigated. It would found that by choosing the suitable
combinations of the feed and slot shapes and the tuning their sizes, the optimum
operating bandwidth could be obtained. The proposed antennahas an omni directional

the commercial Ultra wide band.
In 2010, Li Zhiyong, Zhang Qian, Wang Huilong and Liu Yunlin from the Laboratory
of the Electromagnetic and Microwave, Southwest Jiaotong University, Chengdu,
China presented Ultra wide band microstrip fed antenna with L shape ground
application. The current path of the ground plane would enlarged by using the L
shaped ground which are improved the impedance bandwidth performance. The notch
would inserted on the ground plane under the microstrip line to enhance the
impedance matching of the antenna. The proposed antenna are designed to the
operate over a 3.3GHz to 12GHz for the S11 less than the 10dB and they provides a
good omnidirectional radiation patterns. The Simulated results showed that the

School Night
Laying down in your bed, you hear this consistent knocking. You try to sleep
through it but it seems as if it will never quit. Curious, you roll out of bed away
from the comfort of your wife s warm body but cautiously move closer, step by step
downstairs into the direction of the sound. Each step you take wondering whether
or not your house is being robbed. You finally ease your way downstairs and
quickly flip the light switch only to find your home empty and totally void of any
damage or evidence of a theft of any kind; however, you still hear the sound. You
notice it s coming from your front door, but its 3 A.M. on a school night. The hairs
on the back of your neck begin to rise and your heart beats faster, wondering who is
violently knocking on your front door. You remember the incident at your store
where a brick was thrown through the window and how you angered the community
by canceling a game and blemishing a season with such a historical start. You pull
the shade back on the front door, revealing not an angered parent, but Timo Cruz,
once a player on your basketballteam that you haven t seen for weeks, covered in
blood. You hastily unlatch the door and invite him in. At first sight, he begins
muttering the events leading up to him now covered in his cousin s blood. He tells
how he scared off some bullies for the other players on the basketball team with the
gun in his waistline, but only to witness his cousin slaughtered from across the street.
This is a scene from
The Time Machine War Of The Worlds Analysis
The Time Machine and The War of the Worlds were written by Herbert George
Wells who was born in the mid 19th century. Wells is best known for being a father
of science fiction. As a teenager, Wells won a scholarship to the Normal school of
Science and was very influenced by his experiences there. Throughout Well s
stories, there is a constant theme of advancing science and how that relates to
human ideas of warfare and class struggle. Wells grew up poor and in an era with
the two biggest wars so his writing is very affected by those experiences.
Additionally, influence from works such as On the Origin of Species helped create
key themes throughout his books. By writing both novels, Wells speaks about how
technology affects humans and how emotions... Show more content on

Within both books, fear is something that is brought up to be most primal and
weakest part of the humans. Upon the shrubby hill of its edge Weena would have
stopped, fearing the darkness before us; but a singular sense of impending calamity,
that should indeed have served me as a warning, drove me onward. (The Time
Machine, 114) In this quote, the time traveler feels fear because he does not have
his modern tools in a future without technology. The time traveler is broken down
to a bare state in the future as he did not bring anything with him and he is afraid of
what will happen to him. Forthwith flashes of actual flame, a bright glare leaping
from one to another, sprang from the scattered group of men... then, by the light of
their own destruction, I saw them staggering and falling, and their supporters turning
to run. (The War of the Worlds, 35) Fear in this quote is seen by the supporters. The
worst part about this quote is that people are abandoning their loved ones in fear of
death and aren t given enough time to think except for themselves. Again, this theme
touches on Darwin s work on evolution by showing how fear is brought through
surviving instincts. Through fear, Wells is able to create a connection between the
reader and the main character since everyone feels fear. Both novels compare what
would happen if humans were in our weakest
Persuasive Essay On Sea Turtles
Sea turtles are antiquated creatures on the earth. They have lived on the earth over
nearly 65 million years; they saw the dinosaurs survive, and they saw them pass on.
(Velasquez Manoff, 2007) Despite the fact that sea turtles can get by for quite a
while, they are stuck in an unfortunate situation in the ebb and flow time. They have
turned out to be one type of imperiled creatures. This resembles a major dive in their
long presence on the earth. Be that as it may, it is a fact we have to confront. A
dangerous atmospheric deviation that individuals made have undermined sea turtles.
The issue is environmental change. Temperature rising causes the sea turtleto be

The nursery impact is the central point to make the earth be warm. Nursery gasses
that contain water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone keep
the warmth noticeable all around. Be that as it may, there are increasingly nursery
gasses in the environment, particularly carbon dioxide. People s exercises make a
great deal of carbon dioxide into the environment, similar to a wide range of air
contamination from autos, planes, and processing plants. An ideal approach to
diminish an Earth wide temperature boost is to cut CO2 outflow. There is
excessively carbon dioxide in the climate and it retains warmth, which makes our
earth hotter and hotter. We need to prevent a worldwide temperature alteration
from being more regrettable. We should take mass travel, however much as could
be expected on the grounds that autos influence fumes of gas noticeable all around.
Utilizing the new clean power ought to be an objective for each nation since warm
power plants will deliver more waste gas noticeable all around. The administration
should assume a vital part in easing a worldwide temperature alteration since we
have to keep up this wonderful earth for our people to come. Suggesting another law
that will save the sea turtles. People are additionally killers of murdering sea turtles.
Consistently a ton of sea turtles is murdered by business angling.
Nicolae Ceau Research Paper
In the year 1989, a brother was born to Hurricane Gabrielle blowing the door off of
a small New Jersey apartment frame. In 1989 as well, President Nicolae
CeauИ™escu was executed via capital punishment. President or, more modernly
referred to Dictator Nicolae CeauИ™escu was the leader of Communist Romania
for nearly three decades. Similar to Stalin, the majority of CeauИ™escu s life
consisted of illegal activity as a minor, ruling Romania to food shortages and
despair, and threatening his people due to his own mishaps and faults. Early on,
President CeauИ™escu was held liable for multiple illegal activities. Likewise to
Stalin, these crimes would later affect his career and private life. Nicolae was
arrested twice, once in 1933 for street... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to face the severity of debt, Nicolae CeauИ™escu plunged his country s
lifestyle to the bottom ranks of Europe. He also threatened to bulldoze around
2,000 people and their housing if they didn t submit. Albeit he was a photogenic
teen, this gentleman had a hideous personality and face more importantly: tactic.
His inhabitants were forced to capitulate against his demands. Imagine one s life
being threatened and controlled unwillingly for the sake of debt. Not pretty, is it?
Some soldiers were forced to divorce their wives or otherwise they would have to
resign. A few Romanians had been put on 24 hour surveillance. A handful of them,
however they were blindly loyal. If one is planning on running a country, here is
some solid advice; do not terrorize the citizens! CeauИ™escu s rule consisted of
many Stalin esque properties, such as: civilization threats, starvation, and illegal
activity. Throughout Nicolae CeauИ™escu s reign, never did he once try to mend
his faults, only deepening and worsening the damage. Likewise to Stalin, he was a
ruthless dictator with a heart frozen and manipulated beyond repair. Even during
death, he chanted a communist hymn. CeauИ™escu s last words were Long live the
Socialist Republic of Romania! History will revenge me! , never once giving up the
fight for pure
Anyone Lived In A Pretty How Town Summary
In the poem, anyone lived in a pretty how town , author, E. E. Cummings
sometimes uses words in very unusual ways. Line 7, which says they sowed their
isn t they reaped their same is no exception (line 7). To start off we need to decipher
who the they Cummings is talking about in this line. The they Cummings is talking
about here is made known in line 5. Cummings points out that Women and men
(both little and small) are the they who sowed their isn t and the they that reaped
their same (line 5 7). If you think about line 7 from the farming standpoint you can
infer that sow could mean to plant something and reap could mean to harvest what
was planted. Now, let s talking about how they sowed their isn t (line 7). To sow
something, you have to have a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A seed is something a farmer places in the ground in hope of it sprouting and
becoming a plant. However, the seed isn t a plant just yet. Thinking about what
seed women and men sow this part of the line could possibly be actually talking
about children and how the women and the men sowed what doesn t exist quite yet
a child! Moving forward, to the next part (and back in the farming mindset), they
reaped their same (line 7). If you planted 7 tomato seeds you would expect 7 tomato
plants to grow, not 4 tomato plants and 3 cucumber plants. Here, the same logic can
apply. When the women and men plant their seeds (future children) and they
sprout(are born) they raise them and grow them together and they all grow up to be
the same uniform product. So in line 7 Cummings may be describing how in this
little town the women and the men have children who all grow up to be the exact
same, just like tiny little rows of tomatoes. In lines 19 20, Cummings states, they/said
their nevers they slept their
We Must Reform Our Criminal Justice System Essay
Hillary Clinton said, We can do better. We can not ignore the inequalities that persist
in our justice system that undermine our most deeply held values of fairness and
equality. She was correct in her statement, we need to reform our criminal justice
system because it is highly lacking in fairness and equality. 2.38 million Americans
are in prison, with another five million on probation or parole. 1 in 31 adults in the
United States are in jail, prison, or on probation or parole. (Ferner) The populations
of our prison are increasing, while trust in law enforcers is declining, and if we want
to solve the inequalities we must reform parts of our criminal justice system. We
should reform our criminal justice system to fix the inequalities of mandatory
sentences, bail, and we should create reentry programs to help released inmates stay
crimefree.
In the past years we have seen many riots and debates over the racism and
inequalities in our criminal justice system. We have heard story after story, and
watched video after video of police brutality and racism in America. We saw the
unfair outcome of the Zimmerman and Treyvon Martin case. When George
Zimmerman followed Treyvon Martin, a seventeen year old African American boy
who was walking around the neighborhood, just because he looked suspicious to him.
Even after notifying the police, Zimmerman followed Martin and ended up shooting
him, after Zimmerman had hung up with the dispatcher who told him they did not
need him

  • 1. Sample Comparative Analysis Essay Crafting a "Sample Comparative Analysis Essay" can be quite challenging, requiring a combination of critical thinking, research skills, and a deep understanding of the subject matter. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive analysis of two or more subjects but also in maintaining a balanced perspective throughout the essay. To start with, one must dedicate significant time to researching and gathering relevant information about the subjects under scrutiny. This involves delving into various sources, ranging from academic articles and books to online databases. The challenge here is to sift through the vast sea of information and select data that is not only pertinent but also supports the arguments you intend to make. Next, the writer must organize the gathered information coherently, ensuring a logical flow throughout the essay. This involves creating a well-structured outline that delineates the key points to be addressed in each section. Striking a balance between presenting detailed analyses and avoiding information overload is another difficulty faced during this stage. Furthermore, maintaining objectivity is crucial in a comparative analysis essay. It demands the ability to critically assess and compare different aspects of the subjects without succumbing to personal biases. Balancing the evaluation of strengths and weaknesses while offering insightful commentary adds an extra layer of complexity. Language proficiency and writing style are also critical factors. Effectively conveying complex ideas and analyses requires a mastery of language and an ability to articulate thoughts clearly. Striking the right balance between formal and engaging language poses yet another challenge. • 2. The Importance Of A College Education The importance of a college education is critical in bettering a person s life and the lives of their loved ones. To obtain a well paying job, a person must seek a higher education by graduating from a college or university. Their education will give them the knowledge they need to obtain a career in their desired field. A college education is very expensive and the cost of tuition continues to rise. There is student fees, room and board, traveling expenses, meal plans, and books and supplies. These fees start adding up quickly. There are many other additional expenses a student must pay to attend college besides tuition. There is also not enough government assistance and scholarships for each student that attends college. This forces many students to take out loans and end up in debt. The amount of debt for a college education is rapidly increasing. Student loans become a high financial burden with most loans totaling near $30,000 by the time a person graduates. Most students do not have a full understanding of the financial burden they place on themselves to where it is hard to obtain prosperity after graduation. Paying for a college education can be overwhelming and it can also cause a financial hardship on the individual or their family. There are many student grants and loans that can help someone pay for their education either through federal or private loans. These loans include federal and state grants, Federal Stafford loans, and Federal PLUS loans. There are also private scholarships, bank loans and many other outside resources. The most popular form of financial assistantship is the Federal Pell Grant. This type of assistantship does not have to be paid back by the student. To determine if a student qualifies for the Federal Pell Grant, they must apply for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), regardless of family income. Even though a student may not receive free funding based off their family income, they still could qualify for other kinds of scholarships and grants according to Time.com. The U.S. Department of Education offers two federal student loan programs that include the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) program and the Federal Perkins Loan program. The

Grouping of organisms according to the similar anatomy helps to understand their evolution and how those organisms have being developed over millions of years. Similarly, structures of organisms have developed over years to function better to survive on the earth. Even though some organisms are unicellular, while some are multicelliular, both types of organisms have got particular structure to function that helps to fulfill their needs. Thus, structure and function of the organisms, including humans, portray the incredible creations of the nature (Campbell et al. 2008). Class reptilian is included snakes, lizards known as Gecko, crocodiles, and so on. The amniotic egg is the most significant feature of reptilian. The amniotic egg is an essential stage of the life cycle of reptilian that helps them to complete their life cycle without water. • 7. Realism s Effect on Chekhov and Stanislavsky, and their... Realism played a huge role in the lives of Anton Chekhov and Konstantin Stanislavsky. Both men made a huge impact on the world of theatre, and results are still seen today. Elements from Chekhov s plays have influenced playwrights that came after him, like the works of Tennessee Williams, who listed that Chekhov had a huge impact on his writing. Stanislavsky s acting system, based on acting truthfully, inspired many other acting systems that are still used today. Realism was a huge movement in late 1800s to early 1900s. All art forms were influenced by it. Writers, artists, actors and more started taking a more simple direction and tried to depict life as it actually was. Vladimir Nemirovich Danchenko and Konstantin Stanislavsky founded the Moscow Art Theatre on June 22, 1897, during an 18 hour luncheon at the Slavyanski Bazar (The Stanislavsky Century). The two had set out to reform Russian theatre and had the common goal in mind to create great art. Before they set their rules and regulations into place, none officially existed. Actors would show up either drunk or late and not have their lines learned. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich wanted a place where there would be discipline and respect and great art, thus the Moscow Art Theatre was born (The Stanislavsky Century). Konstantin Stanislavsky, himself, also practiced ideas of naturalism. He was a theatre practitioner and his roles served as actor and director, and he created the first acting method. He functioned as the artistic director of the Moscow Art Theatre. In A Sourcebook for Naturalist Theatre, there was a comparative statement to Chekhov and Stanislavsky which read: In addition to the concept of acting truly , the practical correlative to Chekhov s aim of depicting life as it really is , this extract outlines one of the most important keys to Stanislavsky s system: establishing objectives, which in terms of acting is the equivalent to the naturalists focus on motivation (Innes 54). Stanislavsky wrote three novels that discuss his acting method; An Actor Prepares, Building a Character, and Creating a Role. These books are from the perspective of a
  • 8. Theme Of Colonialism In Jane Eyre Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte is a classic Victorian novel that shows the epic love story between the heroine Jane and Mr Rochester. However, if a reader was to delve deeper and look between the lines, they would realise that Bronte s novel in fact covers a wide range of societal issues circulating in 1840 s England. I am going to be exploring the connotations of colonialism, the blame of the mentally ill, and the submissiveness of females that are described in chapter 27, when Mr Rochester explains to Jane who his wife is and her backstory. Through Mr Rochester, Bronte uses terminology that has racial connotations when referring to Bertha. Mr Rochester conveyed Bertha from her home and safely lodged (her) in that third story room . This presents colonial ideologies, as Bertha s possessions became controlled and possessed by Mr Rochester and she in turn lost her freedom. Bertha s race contributes to this perception as black people at the time had little rights in society and were unable to have a high status. The comparison between Bertha s black and scarlet visage and Jane being a dove shows Mr Rochester s dislike of Bertha. Doves are typically a symbol of peace and the embodiment of the Holy Spirit, whereas in contrast, Black and scarlet are colours associated with evil, demons and witchcraft, all things black people are historically accused of being involved with. This description of Bertha creates unease within the reader. Mr Rochester refuses to speak
  • 9. The Use Of Firearm Investigation On The Examination Of... Sarah Schulteis Professor Papez Intro to Forensic Science 28 March 2015 Firearm Investigation Firearm investigation is a specialty of forensic science focusing on the examination of firearms, (Rankin) and has been around for hundreds of years. One of the earliest recorded cases was of a man shot and killed in 1784 England with a pistol. The police found the wad of paper from the weapon and matched it to a piece of torn newspaper in a suspect s pocket, sending him to jail (Triple Murder). In modern times, examining the engravings, striations, and bullets, a trained eye can distinguish the type of firearm used, and sometimes identify the exact one. Ballistics can help recreate a crime scene by analyzing the wound size, damage, and angle of the bullet hole, along with the distribution of ammunition and cartridges. Gunshot residue is another commonly implemented technique testing hands, nearby objects, and the target for particles burned within a gun. This both helps recreate the scene and identifies those who have recently shot a gun (Rankin). Due to increases in gun violence, research has advanced so that, through the use of databases, the unique markings from spent ammunition can be tracked to a single firearm and identify the shooter. To understand the process of firearm investigations, it is important to understand the mechanics of firing a gun. The most generic gun aims to convert chemical energy into kinetic energy in order to expel a projectile from the firearm.

Mentoring Programs in Reducing Recidivism Studies suggest that young people are often at risk of re offending (e.g. Sharkey, et al, 2003; Vincent Seagrave, 2005). Sharkey and his colleagues explained that youth often reoffend since, as they prepare themselves in returning to their respective communities, they are usually confronted by similar situations that had influenced their behaviors prior to committing offenses. Another group of researchers however show that youth engaged in education, employment and other productive endeavors in their communities within 6 to 8 months after their release are less vulnerable to commit another offense (e.g. Keating, et al., 2002, Bullis, et al, 2002, Grossman Tierney, 2008). In the literature, mentoring programs are often advocated as an effective intervention in helping young offenders in fostering one to one relationships (a young offender with a caring adult) and in connecting them to promising education and employment opportunities upon their release Supporters of this view highlight that positive relationship with caring adults strengthens the protective factors which help young offenders to overcome structural and institutional hurdles to having healthy and productive lives. • 13. The Jewish People Essay The Jewish people believe that society is currently living in the end of one of four time periods that pertain to the fulfillment of the end time prophecy. This time period is considered the Pre Messianic period, meaning the Messiah has yet to come. In this period, God will bring about redemption in His own time. The Jewsbelieve that if all of Israelwere to return to God, the Messiah would come and the final redemption would be immediate. According to the Biblical text, there are many prophecies that must come to past before redemption occurs. A few of these prophetic signs concerning Israel have already been fulfilled. For instance, the dispersion and regathering of the Jews was prophesied and has since occurred. The Bible accounts for two separate gatherings of the Jews in the land of Israel. The first is to be a gathering in disbelief; this prophecy was fulfilled when the state of Israel was created in 1948. During this time the Jewish people will despise the values of their religion in the generations preceding the Messiah. The government will remain godless and immoral. Neither parents nor elders will be respected and families will turn against one another. The second gathering is yet to come, but will be one in which the Jews regather in belief for redemption and is in conjunction with the coming of the Messiah. More signs of the pre Messianic Era include: a population explosion, times of great suffering will occur, the Holy Temple will be rebuilt, the war of Gog

It also demonstrates some of the ways in which motherhood has not been women s choice. A reader might be stunned to consider that was written just twenty years ago and that Rich s first pregnancy happened only forty three years ago, since her choices as an educated woman were so limited compared to now. When her account of feeling like she was only acting as a woman (having no idea what she wanted, and having a child because it was expected of a real woman ) is introduced, her lack of choices reads like either a dismal Margaret Atwood science fiction novel or a scene from the very long ago past. Similary, when Rich cites her example of a primitive attitude by quoting a doctor s medical opinion that women are psychologically unbalanced when they attempt to resist the demands of the institution [of motherhood], (263) it is quite surprising to realize that this opinion was written in 1967, a mere thirty years ago. In this way, Rich s story is a tribute to all women who have fought her battle, the battle to have the freedom to choose motherhood. Rich must feel a deep sense of satisfaction in realizing that articulating her struggles has helped many women. Her capacity to transcend her own circumstances is truly remarkable

He sets off to have a relationship like he sees all over town. However, Travis is pretty bad about forming relationships even with coworkers which spill into a relationship he tries to form and utterly fails. Besides being rejected he originally seems like he is going down the wrong path, but the sequence of events changes and he becomes a hero . Overall, this movie was created wonderfully and the amazing acting performance from Robert De Niroas Travis really took this filmto another level. The acting on top of the music and the background of the city throughout the movie allows the viewer to feel like they are in the streets of New York with them. One of the best scenes was when Travis went on a date with Betsy after taking her to breakfast. For the date Travis decides to take her to an adult film playing at a movie theater and she even says she doesn t like these types of movies. Travis assures her the movie is good and during the movie Betsy leaves the theater telling Travis how horrible it was. This with the inability to sleep and being a veteran leads the audience to believe he has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He based his 1916 re election campaign around the slogan he kept us out of war , and had worked hard to broker a compromise peace. In early 1917 Berlin decided to launch all out submarine warfare designed to sink American ships bringing supplies to Britain; in the Zimmermann Telegram it proposed a military alliance with Mexico to fight a war against the US. The nation was poorly armed when it went to war in April 1917, but it had millions of potential fresh soldiers, billions of dollars, and huge supplies of raw materials needed by the Allies. Officially Wilson kept the US independent of the Allies. In 1918 Wilson took personal control of negotiations with Germany, including the armistice. He issued his Fourteen Points, his view of a post war world that could avoid another terrible conflict. It had an enormous impact on both sides in Europe, and made him the man of the hour in Paris. A leader of the Progressive Movement, he assembled a high powered group of academic advisors to help him in Paris but his distrustful personality led him to break with a series of close advisors, most notably Colonel House. He made a major blunder by refusing to bring along any prominent Republicans to Paris, which politicised the American debate and weakened his support. His main goal was a long term solution to end warfare based on the League of Nationsand self determination of

The two ways the doctors in House MD exemplify good doctor practices is through their observational skills and ability to collaborate. To give a quick overview, Dr. House is a diagnostician who is presented with a new case every episode. Initially, Dr. House and his team write all the symptoms that the patient presents with, and then they collaborate and discuss possible diagnoses. At first, they believe that the 9 year old patient has terminal cancer. However, the patient appears to be too complacent with the fact that she is going to die; this leads to Dr. House questioning if this bravery is actually a symptom. Because of his observational skills and inclination not to discount any possible symptoms, Dr. House discovers that the patient must have a clot caused by the surgery to remove the benign tumor in her heart. Through collaboration, Dr. House shows his skills of observation. In addition, another important quality that the doctors have is the ability to collaborate. Comparing The Bridegroom, Saboteur, And Before The Law According to Aristotle Man is a social animal , however when an individual is forced to decide to either become accustomed with the set norms or take the risk of continuing to believe in their inner voice that subsequently makes them a target of public scrutiny. The external conflict between man and society takes place when a person believes in something about a matter while their community disagrees with those beliefs. The conflicts between an individual and the society are reflected in these three short stories, The Bridegroom, Saboteur by Ha Jin, and Before the law by Kafka. The protagonists are directly or indirectly affected by the powerful and authoritative nature of laws made by their societies. Inequality of an individual in their society can evoke a passive or predatory behavior which can cause great harm to the society and to an individual s mentality, and the intimidating behavior of the society leaves a person with no control over their life. This film is reflecting on the deeper issues of Britain at the time. There is a distinct gap between the generations of the film. The Neighborhood Watch Alliance thinks the biggest issue in the film is the youth loitering; not their own murders. This is a sometimes hidden joke because the watch shares its initials with the N.W.A rap group. That group tries to appeal to the younger generation whereas the film s N.W.A does not. The watch would also rather get the youth drunk, illegally, in a pub rather than let them roam the streets. During the 2000 s in Britain, the youth was being seen more and more as a nuisance to the older generations. The children, though, help to foil the plan of the older generation making them seem a little like the Mystery Inc. from Scooby doo. While the children did break minor laws, they

Those kind of memories are priceless. But would you believe, the tradition was viewed as a pagan before it became a Christmas tradition. The origins of the Christmas tree actually can be attributed to ancient people such as the Egyptians and early Romans. The tree goes back to Prophet Jeremiah in the Old Testament, (Jeremiah 10:2 4), but it was viewed as a pagan practice during this time. There were three particular women in early cinema who were infamous for portraying the vamp character. People in China and India are starving. I tell my daughters, Finish your homework. People in India and China are starving for your job (270). Apparent in this personal example is the presence of two critical arguments of the text. First and foremost, the quote draws a contrast between two generations and highlights the fact that they are in some respects, exponentially different. Thus, Friedman is able to reinforce his claims of how rapidly changing the world truly is. Secondly, he uses this example of drastic change occurring from one generation to the next to reference on of the driving forces or catalysts. To clarify, the reference to China and India s population as eager for a job opportunity indirectly reemphasizes the effects of the spread of information as well as the strength of outsourcing. From this quote, the reader gathers that individuals outside of their home state have the ability to do their job and will do so without ever having to step into their country. Again, Friedman puts into context the vast contribution that the web and other information sharing technologies have given the globe. Although there are more detailed explanations and relevant evidence, this quote serves as a fairly strong summary of Friedman s arguments in the first half of the text. Whereas the first half of Friedman s work aims to

Curious, you roll out of bed away from the comfort of your wife s warm body but cautiously move closer, step by step downstairs into the direction of the sound. Each step you take wondering whether or not your house is being robbed. You finally ease your way downstairs and quickly flip the light switch only to find your home empty and totally void of any damage or evidence of a theft of any kind; however, you still hear the sound. You notice it s coming from your front door, but its 3 A.M. on a school night. The hairs on the back of your neck begin to rise and your heart beats faster, wondering who is violently knocking on your front door. You remember the incident at your store where a brick was thrown through the window and how you angered the community by canceling a game and blemishing a season with such a historical start. You pull the shade back on the front door, revealing not an angered parent, but Timo Cruz, once a player on your basketballteam that you haven t seen for weeks, covered in blood. You hastily unlatch the door and invite him in. At first sight, he begins muttering the events leading up to him now covered in his cousin s blood. He tells how he scared off some bullies for the other players on the basketball team with the gun in his waistline, but only to witness his cousin slaughtered from across the street. This is a scene from

Within both books, fear is something that is brought up to be most primal and weakest part of the humans. Upon the shrubby hill of its edge Weena would have stopped, fearing the darkness before us; but a singular sense of impending calamity, that should indeed have served me as a warning, drove me onward. (The Time Machine, 114) In this quote, the time traveler feels fear because he does not have his modern tools in a future without technology. The time traveler is broken down to a bare state in the future as he did not bring anything with him and he is afraid of what will happen to him. Forthwith flashes of actual flame, a bright glare leaping from one to another, sprang from the scattered group of men... then, by the light of their own destruction, I saw them staggering and falling, and their supporters turning to run. (The War of the Worlds, 35) Fear in this quote is seen by the supporters. The worst part about this quote is that people are abandoning their loved ones in fear of death and aren t given enough time to think except for themselves. Again, this theme touches on Darwin s work on evolution by showing how fear is brought through surviving instincts. Through fear, Wells is able to create a connection between the reader and the main character since everyone feels fear. Both novels compare what would happen if humans were in our weakest

  • 48. Anyone Lived In A Pretty How Town Summary In the poem, anyone lived in a pretty how town , author, E. E. Cummings sometimes uses words in very unusual ways. Line 7, which says they sowed their isn t they reaped their same is no exception (line 7). To start off we need to decipher who the they Cummings is talking about in this line. The they Cummings is talking about here is made known in line 5. Cummings points out that Women and men (both little and small) are the they who sowed their isn t and the they that reaped their same (line 5 7). If you think about line 7 from the farming standpoint you can infer that sow could mean to plant something and reap could mean to harvest what was planted. Now, let s talking about how they sowed their isn t (line 7). To sow something, you have to have a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A seed is something a farmer places in the ground in hope of it sprouting and becoming a plant. However, the seed isn t a plant just yet. Thinking about what seed women and men sow this part of the line could possibly be actually talking about children and how the women and the men sowed what doesn t exist quite yet a child! Moving forward, to the next part (and back in the farming mindset), they reaped their same (line 7). If you planted 7 tomato seeds you would expect 7 tomato plants to grow, not 4 tomato plants and 3 cucumber plants. Here, the same logic can apply. When the women and men plant their seeds (future children) and they sprout(are born) they raise them and grow them together and they all grow up to be the same uniform product. So in line 7 Cummings may be describing how in this little town the women and the men have children who all grow up to be the exact same, just like tiny little rows of tomatoes. In lines 19 20, Cummings states, they/said their nevers they slept their

We can not ignore the inequalities that persist in our justice system that undermine our most deeply held values of fairness and equality. She was correct in her statement, we need to reform our criminal justice system because it is highly lacking in fairness and equality. 2.38 million Americans are in prison, with another five million on probation or parole. 1 in 31 adults in the United States are in jail, prison, or on probation or parole. (Ferner) The populations of our prison are increasing, while trust in law enforcers is declining, and if we want to solve the inequalities we must reform parts of our criminal justice system. We should reform our criminal justice system to fix the inequalities of mandatory sentences, bail, and we should create reentry programs to help released inmates stay crimefree. In the past years we have seen many riots and debates over the racism and inequalities in our criminal justice system. We have heard story after story, and watched video after video of police brutality and racism in America. We saw the unfair outcome of the Zimmerman and Treyvon Martin case. When George Zimmerman followed Treyvon Martin, a seventeen year old African American boy who was walking around the neighborhood, just because he looked suspicious to him. Even after notifying the police, Zimmerman followed Martin and ended up shooting him, after Zimmerman had hung up with the dispatcher who told him they did not need him
