Communication Is A Learning Process With Each And Every...
Communication is a subject that is continually being learned, maintained and practiced. While the
basic fundamentals of communication regarding structures, styles and step can be studied, the
interaction of communication is continually evolving. Communication is a learning process with
each and every interaction. Understanding the success or ineffectiveness of certain verbal, and
nonverbal communication methods, adapting to various communication styles and overall
expressing oneself accurately and competently are among some of the learnings during any
exchange of communication, but there are so many more. However, this quarter I have learned
communication goes beyond just verbally interacting with another person. Effective communication
involves the importance of understanding how to concisely and articulately write a message to
transcribe a thorough idea, the significant role active listening plays in understanding a request,
concern or overall competence of a message, and how each person has their own style of
communicating and by understanding this we can adapt to establish a better flow of communication;
whether that is verbally or nonverbally. Written skills, communication principles of leadership skills
and relationship skills are the three main takeaways from Business and Professional Communication
which can be applicable to my future career.
A key to writing in business, whether it is an email, a cover letter, a resume or a proposal is to write
in an articulate

Communicating And Actively Effective Communication Analysis
This exercise provided insight to my personal methods and style of communicating and actively
listening when working. When reflecting on previous communications with my co–workers and
management, I can see both my strengths and weakness in communicating, especially when dealing
with difficult people. It is important as a nurse to be aware of one's own communication styles,
verbal and nonverbal actions, as you could be saying one thing, but demonstrating a totally different
message through body language, facial expressions or silence (Sullivan, 2017). I feel that my
positive characteristics in communicating with co–workers include active listening, comprehension

Essay on Compare and Contrast Two Leadership Styles
Leadership can be defined as the ability to lead a group of people successfully in an organization.
Hall, et al (2008) have mentioned that an effective leader has to be visionary, motivating and
responsible in order to successfully run a business organization. In business the two key leadership
styles, which are widely used in today's corporate world are autocratic leadership and democratic
leadership (Johnson, n.d.). Autocratic leadership may be explained as "a leadership style where the
manager sets objectives, allocates tasks and insists on obedience" (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 401).
Conversely, democratic leadership encourages "participation in decision making" (Hall, et al 2008
p.g 402). Whilst many people would consider autocratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"The leader must be able to explain ideas clearly to employees and understand any feedback they
receive (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 402). Though rate of production with a democratic style of leadership
might be slower than in an autocratic due to low supervision, it could be disputed that workers can
work more freely as there is less stress to perform.
A further aspect of leadership, which can also be believed to have a direct link with communication,
is decision–making. Both leadership styles are similar in the way that ideas need to be stored before
making a business decision. In an autocratic work place "decisions are made independently with
little or no input from the rest of the group" (Riley, 2012 n.p.). However, in a democratic society
"employees have greater involvement in decision making" (Riley, 2012 n.p.). Both these types of
leadership have their benefits and disadvantages with respect to decision–making. In his research on
different types of leadership, Joseph, (n.d.) stated that autocratic leadership style could be effective
in a business environment as decisions can be made quickly without consulting with workers.
According to Cherry, (n.d.) this type of leadership would be advantageous in situations such as the
military where decisions need to be taken quickly. Though quick decision–making can be beneficial,
it could be argued that it can lead to a demotivated workforce. Employees' motivation decreases

Communication Styles Paper
Communication Styles
In the example of the Lieutenant Colonel setting the introductory stage to charm school for
incoming brigadier generals in the U.S. Army, Daft (2015, p. 135) establishes the difference between
preparing a new recruit and encouraging a leader to teach with head and heart. Our perception of the
world around us and the behavior expected from us defines as a leader. Roy E. Disney, cofounder of
The Walt Disney Company once said "When your values are clear to you, making decisions
becomes easier" (Brainyquote, n.d.). Understanding the styles of communication and how to use
them in the workplace, may determine the success or failure of the team a manager is granted the
responsibility to lead.

Examples may include a corporate newsletter or a published executive memorandum. This method
creates an assertive stance on the part of the sender of the message in that it is the beginning and
ending to the effort to communication.
The second style, interactive, is considered a form of relating messages as if through email where a
sender delivers a message to a recipient who in turn responds in a delayed fashion to the sender with
feedback (IACACT, n.d.). Feedback between the parties may continue and will be influenced by the
individual's cultural, ethnical and personal background (IACACT, n.d.).
The final style, transactional, is considered an exchange or interaction between two or more
individuals. Here each participant can dynamically interpret and respond to the other with the
potential for influence by any individual's emotional state or interpretation of the message at the
time it is received or responded to. Together, these three styles can be used to describe all
interactions within the

Group Communication Essay
Group Communication Effective group communications come in forms of verbal and non–verbal
techniques. Essential parts of the entire group's contribution are that the group contains full
participating members, the group is diverse, and that the diversity is recognized and respected
(Hartley, 1997). In the videos viewed, three were evaluated on the effective and ineffective
communication skills of the participants and suggestions made on how they could improve. The
videos are titled, "Planning a Playground", "Helping Annie", and "The Politics of Sociology.

Written material could be prepared before the group met and used to make occurrences clearer to
members, who have no knowledge of the subject. The other method is telephones, which can assist
the members to gain better understanding of each other. In the use of telephones there is the reduce
chance of discrimination since the members can not see each other (if they have not met prior– in
some incidences here).
Annie
To address the verbal and nonverbal interaction among the members of a group the video titled
"Annie" best illustrates this. In the video there is clearly both listening and miscommunication going
on. The setting of this video is that the title character, Annie is a high school girl, who seems to be
suffering from a possible eating disorder as well as depression (Understanding Relationship–
Helping Annie, 2008). A nurse from a school has called upon a meeting with a psychiatrist and a
social worker to seek out a possible treatment plan for Annie. In "Annie", again the physical setting
and placement of participants play an important part in the communication style. Two of the
members are sitting side–by–side on a couch while the third person sits in her desk chair across
from the couch. The person in the chair is not only able to make eye contact with the other two but
also is in a physical position to see their verbal and non–verbal communications. The two

Transformational Leaders : Organizational Values,...
Transformational leaders set the organizational values, aspirations, and ethical measurements
required. Additionally, the result of the transformational leader concerns them with creating growth
of the follower. Developing the followers into leaders through coaching, directing, and raising their
awareness levels to know or expect the unexpected and the overall issues of consequences. This
development builds a collective future through the shared values of the leadership and the
followership. The developments further drive the followership to accomplish the necessary right and
appropriate good that falls within the vision and mission of the organization. Believing in the core
organizational values, the transformational leader expects high performance from the followers. The
followers enter the process of being a transformational leader by adding increasing influence,
inspiration, and intellectual stimulation from the leader. This leadership style engages the follower
and increases the expectation and set in motion a value that projects future achievements
(McCloskey, 2015). All three styles complement the current leadership genres.
Leadership Genre Analysis The need for the organization to encompass distant control over
followers has not only become necessary but, it is an obligation to both the organization and the
employees. Having followers in remote locations call for remote leadership. This remote leadership

Leadership : The Power Of Influence
Leadership: The Power of Influence The power of influence is perhaps one of the greatest
intangibles of communication. Influence is a force with incalculable degrees of power. The verb
"influence", by itself, describes an action that can only be seen as a result from an entirely separate
action. In very few words, the connection that influence creates can be closely understood when
associated with particular nouns. Hitler, Josef Mengele, and Osama bin Laden are just a few that can
be easily identified and carry the weight of what influential leaders are capable of. Mother Teresa,
Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr., are also among the most influential people to have
lived. One can plainly juxtapose the differences between these two classes of leaders, which often
shadows the similarities shared: the power of influence. Leaders and Teachers Are teachers leaders?
Or are leaders teachers? According to one source, they are one in the same (Eisenbach, 2014).
Eisenbach believes that educators fully realize the power of influence they wield over their
classroom students (p.71). A teacher is naturally seen as the unchallengeable leader within the
classroom. From the very beginning of our schooling years, we are accustomed to heeding to the
thoughts and ideas of our educators that inevitably shape and grow our minds over time. They
deliver wisdom and knowledge through the art of communication. The answer is simple: teachers
are leaders, and leaders are teachers. I believe

The Characteristics Of Communication And How It Affects...
Introduction This paper is a research done to analyze the characteristics of communication and how
it affects male and female entrepreneurship. The use of gender perspective in the communication
style was influenced by the now popular topic of women's rights and discrimination against women
in the business world. Women in business was scarce, but now it is becoming more prevalent. "The
communication is a key factor in the success of any organization" (Borcic, Despot, Prusina 2015).
The background of this paper is based on the theory of basic guidelines regarding female
entrepreneurship, communication, gender in communication, and the comparison of leadership

According to the article men are more powerful than women and have more support in their
entrepreneurship and society in general. Researchers are testing to see if the stereotypes placed on
each gender actually play a role in how each carry out their role in their workplaces as leaders. The
first hypothesis was "In interviews with male entrepreneurs prevalent are features typical of male
language and behavior" (Borcic et. al 2014). The second hypothesis was "In interviews with female
entrepreneurs prevalent are features typical of female linguistic behavior" (Borcic et. al 2014). The
article investigates the chances of the existence of differences in the way males and female
entrepreneurs communicate, and the possibility of connecting these characteristics of the
communication style and their management characteristics. YES
III. Theories The theoretical part of the paper gives an overview of the basic guidelines related to
female entrepreneurship, communication, gender marked by communication and characteristics of
women 's and men 's ways of leading. Feminist linguistics laid the foundations of the theory of
linguistic behavior of women and men. Given that some previous studies have shown that women
are more likely than men to use first person plural, based on these variables it is possible to see if
that is really true. Does the female leadership style truly express a desire for cooperation, the sharing
of power and the developing and

Gene Kranz: Real Life Hero of Apollo 13
The leadership style and communication methods identified during the Apollo 13 mission as
portrayed in the movie of the same name will be explored in this paper, as well as the effectiveness
(or ineffectiveness) of both. Apollo 13 brought out the best in mankind at its darkest moment.
Flawed technology in place long before the flight caused the disaster, but the humanity of effective
leadership and communication skills brought our astronauts home safely.
In life, Apollo 13 was to be the third manned mission to the moon from the United States. After a
small hiccup during lift–off, the flight appeared to be on track until about the 56–hour mark when
disaster struck. A malfunction caused a dramatic loss of oxygen where oxygen does not exist – the
vacuum of outer space. Instead of crumbling in defeat, the space program stood up, dusted itself off
and made the impossible happen because there was no alternative in its eyes. The fact the movie
Apollo 13 is based on a true story proves real life heroes exist. Heroes are leaders and I will be
expounding upon one leader in particular in this paper. The characters in the movie are part of a real
family and will be referred to by their first names as they are in life.
On Earth, Gene Kranz was the White Team Flight Director for the Apollo 13 mission and was the in
the Johnson Space Center (JSC) mission control room in Houston, Texas when tragedy struck.

The Generational Shift in Communication Essay
I believe that one's age and generation do not affect their leadership style nearly as much as there
life experience, motivation, and knowledge. A leader can be successful at any age, if they are willing
and eager to constantly adapt their communication styles to accommodate their followers' needs.
However, within each generation there are different values and management styles and if an
individual resists adapting to newer methods and neglects to embrace change they will not be a
successful leader. For example, the business world has grown into a much different culture than it
was 20 years ago. With the Information Age booming, information is readily accessible to many
individuals and the lines of communication between leader and ... Show more content on

(Behrstock–Sherratt and Coggshall, 2010) It is the combination of the focus on relationships,
embracing the technological age, and their desire to create a positive impact on society through their
business practices that separate Generation Y from other generations and have created the shift in
how teams communicate with one another. Leaders in Generation Y value and appreciate the
professional relationships they create within their organizational culture, which creates a more
democratic way of leading a team. Within this democratic leadership style, effective communication
is essential to successful operations. New research has allowed Generation Y leaders to apply the
knowledge they gain prior to getting trapped in the routine of a dictatorship. In the past 5 years
alone, there have been multiple studies done regarding solely how leaders can communicate with
their team to create the highest success rate along with the most invested followers. According to
Clark (2008, para. 2), "Studying the communication process is important because you coach,
coordinate, counsel, evaluate, and supervise throughout this process. It is the chain of understanding
that integrates the members of an organization from top to bottom, bottom to top, and side to side."

Levels Of Security Risks And Methods Of Mitigation
Levels of security risks and methods of mitigation are not the same for all companies. There are
indications that some supervisors show short–lived reactions to the examination of safety. Leaders
have many questions concerning methods of communicating the urgency and logistics to
management. The awareness and ethics of a successful leader is crucial for the execution of security
initiatives such as informing management the necessity for exact security measures. A solid leader is
skilled in expressing the appropriate language to clarify security matters in a style easy to
comprehend. This leader is well respected and has a security program congruent with the goal of the

Leadership And Communication Go Hand
Leadership and Communication
Leadership and communication go hand in hand. A successful organization has leaders who know
how to communicate. Communication is a vital tool that all leaders have in their tool belt.
Communications is key to any organizations. The most successful leaders have developed their
communication skills. There are various methods of communications available to a leader and the
challenges that are placed on a leader. There are numerous barriers a leader faces in communicating
to the various groups in an organization. A successful leader has strong communication skills and
can provide the correct information to drive the organization. Communication is defined as "the
sharing of information between two or more people to achieve a common understanding about an
object or situation" (Hitt, Miller, & Colella, 2011, p. 330). "For a successful manager,
communication is an instrument and, at the same time, a state of mind. Studies demonstrate the fact
that a successful manager spends about 75–95% of the time talking, listening, writing and citing,
thus communicating" (Emanoil, Ramona, & Lucia, 2013, p.75). Good leaders have learned without
effective communication throughout the organization, the organization will fail. There are numerous
methods to communicate and leaders need to learn to be effective in all methods. Leaders need to

the employee, the less likely they are to leave an organization (Adkins, 2010). An engaged

distinct types of groups that an individual communicates with: friends, coworkers, and partners (pp.
19–23). Additionally, the characteristics of each of the four communication styles are researched.
Griffin's book (2009 pp. 384–386, 406–408, 426), A First Look at Communication Theory, includes
characteristics of each of these communication styles that will be used in order to create a piece of
the leadership communication and employee engagement survey so that it can be determined what
type of communication style each leader has based on the characteristics they exhibit.
Crim and Seijts (2006, p.1) define employee engagement as "a person who is fully involved in, and
enthusiastic about, his or her work". Employees that are engaged are inspired and go above and
beyond their job functions to support the company and help the company achieve its goals. The lack
of engaged employees are a major problem in the United States. According to Gallup, in 2014 only
31.5% of employees were engaged (Adkins, 2015). Even though this sounds low, it is actually the
most engaged the United States workforce has been since 2000. The author's research is important
because if there is a link between leader's

My Personal Communication Philosophy
My personal communication philosophy includes two factors that will support improved
comprehension among those attempting to connect. The following paper will discuss these two
elements: merging communication styles to aid in understanding and communication intent vs.
perception.
Everybody, either knowingly or unknowingly, utilizes a preferred communication style. My style is
centered on merging my preferred communication techniques with the communication style of those
to which I am relating. We all have preferred methods to send and receive information. If you
choose not to communicate with someone utilizing a method that they appreciate and understand,
your message will not be understood, heard or valued.
I communicate in a very practical, concise way. Give me the facts, make it simple and I will happily
receive your communication. I once worked with an individual who did not appreciate facts or
concise conversations. She preferred large, sweeping hand gestures, flowery stories and lengthy
conversation to communicate a concept. She and I have very different communication styles. I
quickly learned that if I used my concise techniques, she did not understand nor appreciate the
conversation. If I wanted to effectively communicate with her, I had to adopt her style, tempo and
verbosity. Once I adopted this method, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The initiator typically has a clear vision of the intent of the message. The receiver will either
decipher the message as intended, or assign an alternate meaning to the message. It is the equal
responsibility of both parties to understand the intent of message and not rely on the perception of
the receiver. "Words don't mean things, people mean things" (Griffin, 2012, p.7). Words and the
delivery of the message can often be misconstrued, so we must be accountable for clear message
delivery and committed to understanding the message as intended. First perceptions are not always

Research Strategies, Fall 2005
Summary:
This is an investigation of different coaching methods and styles of leadership in which are most
effective and preferred by Athletes. The various leadership styles are explained and examined. The
present study found that there isn't one style that is most effective or preferred by all athletes
specifically.
As we enter the world of sports several different theories and methods of coaching are used and
preformed each day. Each coach innovates their specific style or way of coaching to their athletes.

This idea that much of the nonverbal cues displayed have a great effect on the relationship and
thoughts between the coach–athlete. Leadership has been researched extensively but yet scholars are
yet to find or compile an exact definition. As (Kent, Todd, 2004) explain there have been many
efforts in defining leadership and several ideas have been compiled yet there is still a distinct
discrepancy amongst scholars. Author Chelladurai breaks down leadership into three elements: "(1)
leadership is a behavior process, (2) leadership is interpersonal in nature, and (3) leadership is aimed
at influencing and motivating members toward group goals" (pg. 160). These are the ways he
focuses leaderships and their intentions towards leading. Kent and Todd further discuss the
importance of leadership and its distinct aspect to society and organizations, and that future
successes are largely dependent upon it (2004). Another area in the domain of leadership styles is
when (Zorn & Violanti 1993) define leadership as "patterns of behaviors, assumptions, attitudes, or
traits exhibited by individuals in attempting to provide leadership" (pg. 70). Additionally we further
examine (Bloom, Vallée, 2005; Chelladurai, 1990; Chelladurai & Seleh 1978; Zhang et. al. 1997) in
which "they break down the different styles of leadership into five categories, autocratic,

Influence Of Communication Between Parents And Their Children
Influence of communication between parents and their children, and how different parenting styles
affect Childhood Development Language and communication are interdependent to one another.
Communication influences the way that people think and interact with others, whilst language is
used to express thoughts and feelings in order to better the communication between individuals.
Therefore it is known that without the use of language, people would be unable to express their
feelings which would lead to an extreme lack of communication. In the essay "Morning Yet on
Creation Day" Achebe delivers a strong message about the effect of language and communication by
stating: "the value of language in facilitating the affairs and transactions of society by enabling its
members to pass on their message quickly and exactly" (Acheb, 1975, 49). In the essay, an example
arises of a mother who is trying to stop her baby from crying by trying different methods of
comforting the child such as feeding him, changing his diaper, and putting him to sleep. Achebe 's
article proves that a Mother would not have gone through these hardships if the child simply knew
how to communicate (49). To illustrate, this situation would have been simply resolved by the use of
language between the Mother and her baby. Similarly, strong communication between parents and
children can have very positive influences if done correctly without pressure or the need to control
all aspects of the child's life. Parents

The Five Types Of Conflict And Interpersonal Communication
Conflict and Interpersonal Communication In this paper, I will demonstrate the types of
interpersonal conflict styles and ways of managing these communication conflicts. This will entail
with a focus on characters in a film, and analyzing how these characters managed during this time of
communication conflict. By focusing on characters and determining their conflict styles, ways of
communication, and how the conflict resolved, always a way to study how the type of
communication style can make an impact in everyday life. Conflict Management Styles The five
strategies for managing conflict management are competing, avoiding, compromising, collaborating,
and accommodating. Competing is a method that acts only in favor of your point in the argument.
This style does not seek any cooperation with the other individual involved and the only focus is for
your side of the argument to be the winning side. This approach can be selfish as it does not take the
other individuals intentions, views, or feelings on the conflict into consideration. Avoiding the
conflict does not require strength or consideration for the other person involved. When you avoid
the conflict, you are pretending that it never happened or does not exists anymore. This style of
conflict is when you simply avoid the issue altogether. This style does not work toward reaching the
goal of either parties involved. This style can be effective when the atmosphere is emotionally
charged and you need to create space (Meier,

Communication Is Essential For Successful Organisations Essay
The purpose of Communication in Business is usually to either generate an action or to pass on or
request information. There are often very different communication needs for internal and external
stakeholders. In both cases the information needs to be clear, well presented, easy to read and
understand and concise. Communication is about fostering a two–way inclusive dialogue with all
parties which will give a successful communication channel – it is not just about talking but
listening to the stakeholders needs. Every communication whether this is written or verbal will have
a purpose, this may be to instruct, provide or request information.
Internal
Effective internal communication is essential for successful organisations as it affects the ability of
managers to engage employees and achieve their objectives. In most modern organisations the main
method of communication will be via email with documents attached. However, there may be times
when hard copies of documents will need to be produced. Knowing when and how the stakeholder
wants this information will influence on how you prepare and provide this. Some information may
need to be given verbally for example through a team meeting. Most organisations will have a
'House Style'– ECC have their own 'House Style' guidelines which ensure all work/documents are
presented and organised in the same way. This is done because it helps them ensure clarity and
consistency. House style guidelines are the way an organisation let's

4 Worldviews
Introduction
This paper will provide a hypothetical discussion of how each of the four "worldviews" (post–
positivism, constructivism, advocacy/participatory, and pragmatism) might apply to the proposed
study. It will refer to the topic paper developed during the class RSH9101B (Research Topic,
Problem, Purpose, and Questions) with the assistance of Dr. Kenneth Gossett, class mentor. The
portion of the Topic Paper to be used will be the problem statement, which will provide the
foundation for this discussion and completion of this assignment. This discussion ultimately will
lead to the strengthening of this research and the understanding for the need of better researches to

The influence that management and leadership styles along with communication systems have on
the development of leadership, trust, and accountability in a culturally diverse virtual team is
unknown. The problem that this study will address is the lack of knowledge concerning management
and leadership styles needed to effectively manage a virtual team with multiple cultural backgrounds
and the lack of tools to develop each member's leadership, trust, and accountability skills. A
quantitative study will be used to understand the necessary management and leadership styles and
communication systems to effectively manage a culturally diverse virtual team.
The Four "Worldviews" A research decision involves the application of a design in which the
research will be developed. During the application of this design, the worldview assumptions must
be taken into consideration to enhance the study from different perspectives. Research design, which
Creswell refers to as the plan or proposal to conduct research, "involves the intersection of
philosophy, strategies of inquiry, and specific methods" (Creswell, 2009, p. 5). This study must
imply the assumptions in which this research will make about how to obtain and gain knowledge
and reality about this business phenomenon. Even though these philosophical worldviews remain
for the most part unseen and form only one portion of the research design, they have great

Paulo Freire Banking Method Essay
In Paulo Freire's novel, Pedagogy of The Oppressed, the reader sees a lot of what the banking
concept actually is. In chapter two of the novel, the reader is mainly introduced to the idea of the
banking method being an analogy; the student is an empty receptacle (bank), and the teacher is the
filler (investor). Freire firmly believes the banking method is no way to properly teach students.
Students aren't objects, they are people. The problem posing method is a solution to the banking

Anger And Conflict Essay
In the cases of anger and conflict, there are intense emotions involved that require subsequently
equal intense levels of communication in order to maintain a level of equilibrium thus preventing
unforeseen negative circumstances. Conflict and anger are part of the human nature and part of
people's lives occurring when people are disappointed, provoked, and ashamed and no accord is
reached in a particular matter. However, cases of anger and conflict are more prone in couples
because feelings are vital in their relationships leading to intense highs and lows encompassing on
emotions such as love, pity, remorse, regret, hatred, and indifference.

Only when these communication styles are employed, the real problem is handled in a pragmatic
way because couples are often angry at each other and are involved in conflicts but they choose to

to handle anger issues and conflict among couples is by acknowledging that there is an issue which
needs to be addressed. Refusal to admit on the real problem is a common scenario, and the couples
who are reluctant to confront the situation always hit a dead end where the conflict has boiled over
and reached a level of irreconcilable differences. This ascertains the first stage which is admitting
the existence of a problem, and both parties need to find a way of solving it by communication. This
can only be realized through each or both parties being aggressive or assertive and elucidating that

Communication in Criminal Justice
Many criminal justice professions require candidates to possess strong oral and written
communication skills. The essence of communication is the conveyance of a message from sender to
receiver. Often times you will find that there is interference that may hinder your communication
with the receiver. In the communication process, the parties involved engage in certain unconscious
behaviors that direct the flow of communication. There is a step by step process that can be broken
down into a communication model. The process begins with the sender. The sender of the message
is the party who had an original idea to pass along. The sender breaks down the message into
concepts that can be accepted by the receiver. Between the sender and ... Show more content on

The persuading style of communication involves information–sharing and acceptance techniques.
Interviewing is an example of the persuading style. It is really a matter of a police officer is
attempting to persuade someone to reveal information that may be against his or her best interests in
a court of law. The problem–solving style of communication is a very beneficial and productive
method. "Police officers attend crime watch meetings and community awareness meetings in an
effort to resolve not only the problems with crime but also with situations that foster an atmosphere
for criminal acts to occur" (COMMUNICATION: WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH, Chapter 1pg 7).
The benefits of using different communication styles are the different responses that you get from
each one. I believe that persuading style is one of the most effective because interrogation officers
often get a witness to admits something that they never saw and get the accused to admit a crime
that they may have not ever committed. One problem with the persuasive style of communication is
that it is not always productive. Communication exists on two levels: verbal and nonverbal. The
importance of communication styles in Law Enforcement Verbal communication is not only
comprised of the spoken word but of the written word as well. Reports, memoranda, and directives

Traditional Vs. Distance Education : Traditional Education...
Traditional and distance learning are two options to obtaining a higher education. Although both
have great options in providing quality education to prospective students, there are noticeable
dissimilarities in how the education is presented in the classroom environment. Most students find it
difficult to choose which educational option to opt for. Over the years, technology has made it easier
for students to obtain a higher education. Before, busy students often struggle with balancing school
and their personal life. Students can now choose between attending a distance learning school or to
attend a traditional college. Distance learning schools and traditional college are both effective
methods of obtaining a higher education depending on convenience, quality, and learning style.
While both options have similar methods of educating students, they also differ in important features
such as flexibility, communication, and learning process style.
The most important feature of distance learning is that online schools offer flexibility for
prospective students. This allows students the ease of attending class in their own time and the place
of their choosing. Flexibility is very important for students with hectic schedules such as balancing
school, work, and personal life. In fact, studies have shown that online colleges are specifically
designed to cater to busy students. Studies have shown that about 1,000 schools offer online
curriculum using distance learning

of all stakeholders placing the goal attainment in doubt. According to Tuckman and Jensen, "There
are five discrete stages in the life cycle of groups–forming, storming, norming, performing, and

necessary performance that helps to reach a decisive goal and provide a necessary adjournment to

Concord High School Varsity Boys Basketball Team: Case Study
Conclusions and Recommendations
Research Conclusions
Upon review of these research results, the improvements across the board in the comparative year–
over–year results metrics show that coaching style choice had a profoundly positive influence on the
Concord High School Varsity Boys' Basketball team. They further demonstrate that learning styles
and personality traits impacted the coaching style choice, as evidenced by teaching and
communication decisions. However, further testing will be needed to affirm the findings on a
broader scale, as I previously discussed in the limitations sections of this document.
From these research findings, readers should glean three main themes. First, athletic coaching style
choice is influenced by learning styles and personality traits of both the coach and the team. Second,
coaches have the ability to and should use existing learning style and personality traits assessment

Communication in Your Workplace
Managerial Communications (Man–373)

Communication in Your Workplace Effective communication in business is imperative when it
comes to the success of a business. Every aspect of a business requires communication.
Communication within a company may have started out with one style and then changed throughout
the years. Some other companies may have never adapted to our changing society and have found
themselves obsolete. Some companies have adapted to different forms of communication based off
of the type of business conducted and internal components that the company faces. Today, I will

Throughout the years, this style had to evolve to keep up with the changing work environment.
What started out as a small company, now started to grow and layers of management were added.
The company, which spread to three other states, now operates globally. At first, policies and
procedures were pushed downed autocratically. There was not a buy in, by lower management, on
the direction the company was heading. Upper management, often, dictated to lower management
on exactly how procedures and methods were to be administered. As the company went global, the
communication style had to adapt to the diverse workforce. UPS has always had a promote from
within the company policy. All the way up to the CEO of UPS, each management person started as
an hourly employee. Company experience was held of more value than secular education. The
original culture of UPS was able to last for almost the first century of the company's existence.
Layers and layers of management brought up from a scientific style of management communication.
Since the workforce was now global, the style of communication had to develop into a style that
could sustain a large, diverse company. The company maintains its promotion policy, but now
stresses a secular education. The contingency approach has become the communication style among
management. "The contingency approach has grown in popularity recently because of the
complexity of organizations.

Communication Is A Learning Process With Each And Every...

  • 1. Communication Is A Learning Process With Each And Every... Communication is a subject that is continually being learned, maintained and practiced. While the basic fundamentals of communication regarding structures, styles and step can be studied, the interaction of communication is continually evolving. Communication is a learning process with each and every interaction. Understanding the success or ineffectiveness of certain verbal, and nonverbal communication methods, adapting to various communication styles and overall expressing oneself accurately and competently are among some of the learnings during any exchange of communication, but there are so many more. However, this quarter I have learned communication goes beyond just verbally interacting with another person. Effective communication involves the importance of understanding how to concisely and articulately write a message to transcribe a thorough idea, the significant role active listening plays in understanding a request, concern or overall competence of a message, and how each person has their own style of communicating and by understanding this we can adapt to establish a better flow of communication; whether that is verbally or nonverbally. Written skills, communication principles of leadership skills and relationship skills are the three main takeaways from Business and Professional Communication which can be applicable to my future career. A key to writing in business, whether it is an email, a cover letter, a resume or a proposal is to write in an articulate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Communicating And Actively Effective Communication Analysis This exercise provided insight to my personal methods and style of communicating and actively listening when working. When reflecting on previous communications with my co–workers and management, I can see both my strengths and weakness in communicating, especially when dealing with difficult people. It is important as a nurse to be aware of one's own communication styles, verbal and nonverbal actions, as you could be saying one thing, but demonstrating a totally different message through body language, facial expressions or silence (Sullivan, 2017). I feel that my positive characteristics in communicating with co–workers include active listening, comprehension of what others are trying to say ,acknowledging other's contributions to the conversation, ... • 5. Essay on Compare and Contrast Two Leadership Styles Leadership can be defined as the ability to lead a group of people successfully in an organization. Hall, et al (2008) have mentioned that an effective leader has to be visionary, motivating and responsible in order to successfully run a business organization. In business the two key leadership styles, which are widely used in today's corporate world are autocratic leadership and democratic leadership (Johnson, n.d.). Autocratic leadership may be explained as "a leadership style where the manager sets objectives, allocates tasks and insists on obedience" (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 401). Conversely, democratic leadership encourages "participation in decision making" (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 402). Whilst many people would consider autocratic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... "The leader must be able to explain ideas clearly to employees and understand any feedback they receive (Hall, et al 2008 p.g 402). Though rate of production with a democratic style of leadership might be slower than in an autocratic due to low supervision, it could be disputed that workers can work more freely as there is less stress to perform. A further aspect of leadership, which can also be believed to have a direct link with communication, is decision–making. Both leadership styles are similar in the way that ideas need to be stored before making a business decision. In an autocratic work place "decisions are made independently with little or no input from the rest of the group" (Riley, 2012 n.p.). However, in a democratic society "employees have greater involvement in decision making" (Riley, 2012 n.p.). Both these types of leadership have their benefits and disadvantages with respect to decision–making. In his research on different types of leadership, Joseph, (n.d.) stated that autocratic leadership style could be effective in a business environment as decisions can be made quickly without consulting with workers. According to Cherry, (n.d.) this type of leadership would be advantageous in situations such as the military where decisions need to be taken quickly. Though quick decision–making can be beneficial, it could be argued that it can lead to a demotivated workforce. Employees' motivation decreases ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Communication Styles Paper Communication Styles In the example of the Lieutenant Colonel setting the introductory stage to charm school for incoming brigadier generals in the U.S. Army, Daft (2015, p. 135) establishes the difference between preparing a new recruit and encouraging a leader to teach with head and heart. Our perception of the world around us and the behavior expected from us defines as a leader. Roy E. Disney, cofounder of The Walt Disney Company once said "When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier" (Brainyquote, n.d.). Understanding the styles of communication and how to use them in the workplace, may determine the success or failure of the team a manager is granted the responsibility to lead. The Three Styles Communication in the global workplace is a complex concept with the increased diversity of cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Examples may include a corporate newsletter or a published executive memorandum. This method creates an assertive stance on the part of the sender of the message in that it is the beginning and ending to the effort to communication. The second style, interactive, is considered a form of relating messages as if through email where a sender delivers a message to a recipient who in turn responds in a delayed fashion to the sender with feedback (IACACT, n.d.). Feedback between the parties may continue and will be influenced by the individual's cultural, ethnical and personal background (IACACT, n.d.). The final style, transactional, is considered an exchange or interaction between two or more individuals. Here each participant can dynamically interpret and respond to the other with the potential for influence by any individual's emotional state or interpretation of the message at the time it is received or responded to. Together, these three styles can be used to describe all interactions within the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Group Communication Essay Group Communication Effective group communications come in forms of verbal and non–verbal techniques. Essential parts of the entire group's contribution are that the group contains full participating members, the group is diverse, and that the diversity is recognized and respected (Hartley, 1997). In the videos viewed, three were evaluated on the effective and ineffective communication skills of the participants and suggestions made on how they could improve. The videos are titled, "Planning a Playground", "Helping Annie", and "The Politics of Sociology. The other method is telephones, which can assist the members to gain better understanding of each other. In the use of telephones there is the reduce chance of discrimination since the members can not see each other (if they have not met prior– in some incidences here). Annie To address the verbal and nonverbal interaction among the members of a group the video titled "Annie" best illustrates this. In the video there is clearly both listening and miscommunication going on. The setting of this video is that the title character, Annie is a high school girl, who seems to be suffering from a possible eating disorder as well as depression (Understanding Relationship– Helping Annie, 2008). A nurse from a school has called upon a meeting with a psychiatrist and a social worker to seek out a possible treatment plan for Annie. In "Annie", again the physical setting and placement of participants play an important part in the communication style. Two of the members are sitting side–by–side on a couch while the third person sits in her desk chair across from the couch. The person in the chair is not only able to make eye contact with the other two but also is in a physical position to see their verbal and non–verbal communications. The two ... • 11. Transformational Leaders : Organizational Values,... Transformational leaders set the organizational values, aspirations, and ethical measurements required. Additionally, the result of the transformational leader concerns them with creating growth of the follower. Developing the followers into leaders through coaching, directing, and raising their awareness levels to know or expect the unexpected and the overall issues of consequences. This development builds a collective future through the shared values of the leadership and the followership. The developments further drive the followership to accomplish the necessary right and appropriate good that falls within the vision and mission of the organization. Believing in the core organizational values, the transformational leader expects high performance from the followers. The followers enter the process of being a transformational leader by adding increasing influence, inspiration, and intellectual stimulation from the leader. This leadership style engages the follower and increases the expectation and set in motion a value that projects future achievements (McCloskey, 2015). All three styles complement the current leadership genres. • 17. Leadership : The Power Of Influence Leadership: The Power of Influence The power of influence is perhaps one of the greatest intangibles of communication. Influence is a force with incalculable degrees of power. The verb "influence", by itself, describes an action that can only be seen as a result from an entirely separate action. In very few words, the connection that influence creates can be closely understood when associated with particular nouns. Hitler, Josef Mengele, and Osama bin Laden are just a few that can be easily identified and carry the weight of what influential leaders are capable of. Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King Jr., are also among the most influential people to have lived. One can plainly juxtapose the differences between these two classes of leaders, which often shadows the similarities shared: the power of influence. Leaders and Teachers Are teachers leaders? Or are leaders teachers? According to one source, they are one in the same (Eisenbach, 2014). Eisenbach believes that educators fully realize the power of influence they wield over their classroom students (p.71). A teacher is naturally seen as the unchallengeable leader within the classroom. From the very beginning of our schooling years, we are accustomed to heeding to the thoughts and ideas of our educators that inevitably shape and grow our minds over time. They deliver wisdom and knowledge through the art of communication. The answer is simple: teachers are leaders, and leaders are teachers. I believe ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction This paper is a research done to analyze the characteristics of communication and how it affects male and female entrepreneurship. The use of gender perspective in the communication style was influenced by the now popular topic of women's rights and discrimination against women in the business world. Women in business was scarce, but now it is becoming more prevalent. "The communication is a key factor in the success of any organization" (Borcic, Despot, Prusina 2015). The background of this paper is based on the theory of basic guidelines regarding female entrepreneurship, communication, gender in communication, and the comparison of leadership characteristics between women and men. Another theory this paper is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the article men are more powerful than women and have more support in their entrepreneurship and society in general. Researchers are testing to see if the stereotypes placed on each gender actually play a role in how each carry out their role in their workplaces as leaders. The first hypothesis was "In interviews with male entrepreneurs prevalent are features typical of male language and behavior" (Borcic et. al 2014). The second hypothesis was "In interviews with female entrepreneurs prevalent are features typical of female linguistic behavior" (Borcic et. al 2014). The article investigates the chances of the existence of differences in the way males and female entrepreneurs communicate, and the possibility of connecting these characteristics of the communication style and their management characteristics. YES III. Theories The theoretical part of the paper gives an overview of the basic guidelines related to female entrepreneurship, communication, gender marked by communication and characteristics of women 's and men 's ways of leading. Feminist linguistics laid the foundations of the theory of linguistic behavior of women and men. Given that some previous studies have shown that women are more likely than men to use first person plural, based on these variables it is possible to see if that is really true. • 21. The Leadership Style And Communication Methods Identified... Gene Kranz: Real Life Hero of Apollo 13 The leadership style and communication methods identified during the Apollo 13 mission as portrayed in the movie of the same name will be explored in this paper, as well as the effectiveness (or ineffectiveness) of both. Apollo 13 brought out the best in mankind at its darkest moment. Flawed technology in place long before the flight caused the disaster, but the humanity of effective leadership and communication skills brought our astronauts home safely. In life, Apollo 13 was to be the third manned mission to the moon from the United States. After a small hiccup during lift–off, the flight appeared to be on track until about the 56–hour mark when disaster struck. A malfunction caused a dramatic loss of oxygen where oxygen does not exist – the vacuum of outer space. Instead of crumbling in defeat, the space program stood up, dusted itself off and made the impossible happen because there was no alternative in its eyes. The fact the movie Apollo 13 is based on a true story proves real life heroes exist. Heroes are leaders and I will be expounding upon one leader in particular in this paper. The characters in the movie are part of a real family and will be referred to by their first names as they are in life. On Earth, Gene Kranz was the White Team Flight Director for the Apollo 13 mission and was the in the Johnson Space Center (JSC) mission control room in Houston, Texas when tragedy struck. • 25. The Generational Shift in Communication Essay I believe that one's age and generation do not affect their leadership style nearly as much as there life experience, motivation, and knowledge. A leader can be successful at any age, if they are willing and eager to constantly adapt their communication styles to accommodate their followers' needs. However, within each generation there are different values and management styles and if an individual resists adapting to newer methods and neglects to embrace change they will not be a successful leader. For example, the business world has grown into a much different culture than it was 20 years ago. (Behrstock–Sherratt and Coggshall, 2010) It is the combination of the focus on relationships, embracing the technological age, and their desire to create a positive impact on society through their business practices that separate Generation Y from other generations and have created the shift in how teams communicate with one another. Leaders in Generation Y value and appreciate the professional relationships they create within their organizational culture, which creates a more democratic way of leading a team. Within this democratic leadership style, effective communication is essential to successful operations. New research has allowed Generation Y leaders to apply the knowledge they gain prior to getting trapped in the routine of a dictatorship. In the past 5 years alone, there have been multiple studies done regarding solely how leaders can communicate with their team to create the highest success rate along with the most invested followers. According to Clark (2008, para. 2), "Studying the communication process is important because you coach, coordinate, counsel, evaluate, and supervise throughout this process. It is the chain of understanding that integrates the members of an organization from top to bottom, bottom to top, and side to side." Additionally, the characteristics of each of the four communication styles are researched. Griffin's book (2009 pp. 384–386, 406–408, 426), A First Look at Communication Theory, includes characteristics of each of these communication styles that will be used in order to create a piece of the leadership communication and employee engagement survey so that it can be determined what type of communication style each leader has based on the characteristics they exhibit. Leadership has been researched extensively but yet scholars are yet to find or compile an exact definition. As (Kent, Todd, 2004) explain there have been many efforts in defining leadership and several ideas have been compiled yet there is still a distinct discrepancy amongst scholars. Author Chelladurai breaks down leadership into three elements: "(1) leadership is a behavior process, (2) leadership is interpersonal in nature, and (3) leadership is aimed at influencing and motivating members toward group goals" (pg. 160). These are the ways he focuses leaderships and their intentions towards leading. Kent and Todd further discuss the importance of leadership and its distinct aspect to society and organizations, and that future successes are largely dependent upon it (2004). Another area in the domain of leadership styles is when (Zorn & Violanti 1993) define leadership as "patterns of behaviors, assumptions, attitudes, or traits exhibited by individuals in attempting to provide leadership" (pg. 70). Additionally we further examine (Bloom, Vallée, 2005; Chelladurai, 1990; Chelladurai & Seleh 1978; Zhang et. al. 1997) in which "they break down the different styles of leadership into five categories, autocratic, democratic, positive feedback, social support and training and instruction. Influence Of Communication Between Parents And Their Children Influence of communication between parents and their children, and how different parenting styles affect Childhood Development Language and communication are interdependent to one another. Communication influences the way that people think and interact with others, whilst language is used to express thoughts and feelings in order to better the communication between individuals. Therefore it is known that without the use of language, people would be unable to express their feelings which would lead to an extreme lack of communication. In the essay "Morning Yet on Creation Day" Achebe delivers a strong message about the effect of language and communication by stating: "the value of language in facilitating the affairs and transactions of society by enabling its members to pass on their message quickly and exactly" (Acheb, 1975, 49). In the essay, an example arises of a mother who is trying to stop her baby from crying by trying different methods of comforting the child such as feeding him, changing his diaper, and putting him to sleep. Achebe 's article proves that a Mother would not have gone through these hardships if the child simply knew how to communicate (49). To illustrate, this situation would have been simply resolved by the use of language between the Mother and her baby. Similarly, strong communication between parents and children can have very positive influences if done correctly without pressure or the need to control all aspects of the child's life. Parents ... Competing is a method that acts only in favor of your point in the argument. This style does not seek any cooperation with the other individual involved and the only focus is for your side of the argument to be the winning side. This approach can be selfish as it does not take the other individuals intentions, views, or feelings on the conflict into consideration. Avoiding the conflict does not require strength or consideration for the other person involved. When you avoid the conflict, you are pretending that it never happened or does not exists anymore. There are often very different communication needs for internal and external stakeholders. In both cases the information needs to be clear, well presented, easy to read and understand and concise. In the communication process, the parties involved engage in certain unconscious behaviors that direct the flow of communication. There is a step by step process that can be broken down into a communication model. The process begins with the sender. The sender of the message is the party who had an original idea to pass along. The sender breaks down the message into concepts that can be accepted by the receiver. Between the sender and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The persuading style of communication involves information–sharing and acceptance techniques. Interviewing is an example of the persuading style. It is really a matter of a police officer is attempting to persuade someone to reveal information that may be against his or her best interests in a court of law. The problem–solving style of communication is a very beneficial and productive method. "Police officers attend crime watch meetings and community awareness meetings in an effort to resolve not only the problems with crime but also with situations that foster an atmosphere for criminal acts to occur" (COMMUNICATION: WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH, Chapter 1pg 7). The benefits of using different communication styles are the different responses that you get from each one. I believe that persuading style is one of the most effective because interrogation officers often get a witness to admits something that they never saw and get the accused to admit a crime that they may have not ever committed. One problem with the persuasive style of communication is that it is not always productive. Communication exists on two levels: verbal and nonverbal. The importance of communication styles in Law Enforcement Verbal communication is not only comprised of the spoken word but of the written word as well. Reports, memoranda, and directives are all vital to the transmittal of information within a law enforcement agency. Verbal communication is very important due to the many reports ... • 70. Traditional Vs. Distance Education : Traditional Education... Traditional and distance learning are two options to obtaining a higher education. Although both have great options in providing quality education to prospective students, there are noticeable dissimilarities in how the education is presented in the classroom environment. Most students find it difficult to choose which educational option to opt for. Over the years, technology has made it easier for students to obtain a higher education. Before, busy students often struggle with balancing school and their personal life. Students can now choose between attending a distance learning school or to attend a traditional college. Distance learning schools and traditional college are both effective methods of obtaining a higher education depending on convenience, quality, and learning style. While both options have similar methods of educating students, they also differ in important features such as flexibility, communication, and learning process style. The most important feature of distance learning is that online schools offer flexibility for prospective students. This allows students the ease of attending class in their own time and the place of their choosing. Flexibility is very important for students with hectic schedules such as balancing school, work, and personal life. In fact, studies have shown that online colleges are specifically designed to cater to busy students. Studies have shown that about 1,000 schools offer online curriculum using distance learning ... An ideal group communication ranges from three to few members gathered and discussing strategies to accomplish a specific goal. In this case, the hindrance to progress comes as the debate on enrollment and course relevancy reaches a stalemate. Besides, the expression that says," Students will vote with their feet," reveals that the suggested offering is not in the best interest of all stakeholders placing the goal attainment in doubt. According to Tuckman and Jensen, "There are five discrete stages in the life cycle of groups–forming, storming, norming, performing, and adjourning" Engleberg & Wynn, 2010, p46. This group communication fell short of the necessary performance that helps to reach a decisive goal and provide a necessary adjournment to the discussion. The group communication methods should satisfy all discrete stages in the life cycle of groups particularly performing and adjournment as observed earlier.
