Communication breakdown can occur if there is wrong perception by the receiver. Perception is interpreted differently by individuals and the same word can mean different things. Too much information, lack of focus, not allowing enough time, and distractions can cause the message to be misinterpreted, forgotten, or overlooked, reducing effective communication. Emotional state and inability to retain information can also influence how the message is received.
