messages sent by the sender is
interpreted with same meaning by
the receiver
*Any kind of disturbance blocks any
step of communication, the message
will be destroyed
55. Major communication Barriers
Perceptual and language differences – Perception is generally
how each individual interprets the world around. All generally want
to receive messages which are significant to them.
High load of information – it is essential to control this information
flow else the information is likely to be misinterpreted or forgotten.
As a result communication is less effective.
Inattentive – At times we just not listen , but only hear. Messages
should be ignored for effective communication
Time pressure – The targets have to be achieved within a
specified time period, the failure of which has adverse
consequences. In a haste to meet deadlines, the formal channels
of communications are shortened/ not completely transferred.
Thus sufficient time should be given for effective communication.

communication problem in
organizations

structure which is unclear and
therefore makes it confusing to
know who to communicate with

to staff being uncertain what is
expected from them
Attitudinal barriers – Factors as poor
management , lack of consultation with
employees, personality conflicts which
can result in people delaying or refusing
to communication.

boss directly to each individual.
- in this network the leader is a
middleman.

It is a fast system, to be used when you’re
under pressure
It allows employees to have one task, and
that is to work, which could mean that the
employees master their tasks and become
proficient enough to help grow the
company.
61. Disadvantages :
According to Money Zine, "The communication style
of an autocratic leader is usually described as one
way. They tell you exactly what they want done." This
can be frustrating if the boss talks to the employees
only when they make mistakes, and little praise is
provided.
In addition, it can generate a company of zombies
with no fresh ideas. This autocratic style can create
an environment of fear and resentment, leading to
high turnover and absenteeism, which can hinder
progress.
63. Democratic communication
The flow of communication from the boss/leader is
a two way affair
This means that the democratic
leader/communicator not only communicates with
group member for purposes of asking question ,
making , suggestion , passing along information
but also make it possoble
64. Advantage :
the participant can result in high motivation of group
members.
The knowledge and experience of group members can be
used in decision making.
Members may feel more committed to group goals and less
resistant to managerial actions.
Individual abilities can be developed through participation.
Group may be better informed as a result of two way
communication.that is from the group members to the leader
and also from the leader to the members
65. Disadvantage :
This aproach can be very time consuming
for the leader because of the use of two-
way communication
Subordinates may view leader as
incompetent to handle the job
responsibilities.
