Comment about this post. There are many personal capabilities that a person should develop to be an effective leader. Effective leaders are kind and friendly. It is important for people to feel like they can trust their leader and give their input on things without being afraid of the outcome. Good leaders are effective communicators and honest. People are more drawn to a leader that gives clear explanations, are honest, and reliable. Being a person of integrity means being someone who stands behind your word and shows up when you say you willthis trait shows the people under you that they can trust you not only professionally, but also personally (Nathanson, 2021). One great example that our textbook gives is Abraham Lincoln. He was ranked one of the greatest presidents even though he had little education, and less leadership experience than others. According to (Daft, 2022, pg. 18) The process of management generally encourages emotional distance, but leadership means being emotionally connected to others. Where there is leadership, people become part of a community and feel that they are contributing to something worthwhile. Whereas management means providing answers and solving problems, leadership requires the courage to admit mistakes and doubts, to listen, and to trust and learn from others. I think the main reason why there are few people that succeed in both management and leadership is because leadership is not for everyone. Management and leadership are different, a good manager can have rules and doing what they think it is best for others, a leader on the other hand inspires others and create change. I do believe that it is reasonable to believe that someone can be good at both. A person that I consider that is good at both is the Doctor that I work for. She owns her practice, but she is a good leader and manager at the same time. Some of her greatest qualities are that she is very kind and friendly, the staff trusts her, and we have open communication with her, but she also manages her staff by maintaining stability, and organization..
