Unilateral Decent Research Paper
Bilateral decent is a kinship system in which individuals trace their kinship relationships through both
parents. Relatives to both parents are equal in importance in this kinship system. Unilineal decent is a
system that relatives use to trace their connection through only one line, patrilineal or matrilineal.
With unilineal decent the line is an importance placed on whatever side has the standing for tracing
kinship relationships. In a Unilineal decent system, the people in the line that are the most important
would be primarily responsible for someone s economic and social welfare. They also would
cooperate and associate themselves with them and their own siblings. An example of this could be that
in patrilineal societies property is primarily

Case Study Carotid Endarterectomy
Carotid endarterectomy in Moyamoya disease: a case report
We report the case of a 55 year old female who was operated for stenosis of the right internal carotid
artery in the setting of Moyamoya disease previously treated with extensive carotid and cerebral
vascular reconstructions. The atherosclerotic plaque was excised and the right internal carotid artery
was repaired with bovine pericardium. The utilization of carotid endarterectomy in the surgical
management of Moyamoya disease is poorly described in the literature.
Moyamoya disease is progressive cerebral vasculopathy characterized by bilateral stenosis or
occlusion of the arteries of the circle of Willis that entails a poor prognosis without cerebral
revascularization. We report a case of severe stenosis of the right internal carotid artery refractory to
percutaneous intervention in the setting of complex Moyamoya disease.
CASE REPORT
A 55 year old white female with a past medical history significant for ischemic stroke of the right
frontal cortex, multiple episodes of transient ischemic attack, hypertension, and temporal arteritis
presented to the hospital for right carotid endarterectomy (CEA). Past surgical history was notable for
bilateral encephaloduroarteriosyngiosis, right superficial temporal artery to middle cerebral artery

Casana et al. reported the first case of extracranial ICA stenting in a patient with moyamoya disease.
In that patient, right CEA was performed, Moyamoya disease was diagnosed postoperatively, and the
left ICA was subsequently stented. To our knowledge, there are no other case reports of carotid
endarterectomy in the setting of Moyamoya disease. It is unclear whether this represents
underreporting or rather that severe extracranial ICA stenosis in the setting of Moyamoya disease is a

GOAL! , he scored. I was at my friends house, my face buried in the red, leather couch. In front of me
was a 65 inch Samsung television Me and my friend were playing FIFA on my XBOX and he was
destroying me so far. It was only the second minute and he s already scored. I was FC Barcelona and
he was Real Madrid. I had the legendary forward and he had the legendary FIFA skills. I was mad and
I really feld hurt after he scored. That was mostly because before we started the game we both agreed
that the winner would get 15 dollars. He also had a disadvantage in one key area , fortunately. That
was his formation. His formation was a 4 3 3 attack which was three forwards three midfielders, a left
back, a right back, two center backs, and one goalie. I had a 4 3 3 holding which meant that I had a
defensive midfield instead of just three plain old midfielders. Overall, this meant that. Madrid had the
ball and it was Modric, one of their midfielders who was dribbling. I made Sergio Busquets (
defensive midfield) do a slide tackle. The ball ricocheted on Modric s foot and went straight to
Ousmane Dembele ( left forward ). Then came the mind blowing moves. He dribbled past the midfield
and the forward. Then, he sombrero flicked Carvajal ( opposition s right back), nutmegged Sergio
Ramos ( opposition s center back). Then he shot. The goalie jumped and punched the ball. The ball
was over Dembele. What could he do. He decided to attempt a bicycle. The perfectly timed and
monitored shot

Exploration Of The Cosmos Shakes
Space that s all there is that ever was and ever will be. One contemplation of the cosmos shakes:
shiver runs down the back, catches the throat, and there is a feeling weak, like a vague memory, if you
fall from a height. We recognize that touch the greatest of mysteries.
But the development of something unknown at the time held a sufficient amount of time. And this
long journey that opens the way for us to perfect contemplation of the cosmos and its component
parts, is really considered one of the truly deserving feats of humanity.
Man and the Cosmos can not exist separately. They have always been the two particles of one whole,
the unknown, unexplored, new.
Since early times, people and all mankind has sought to pave the way in the ... Show more content on

Exit man in space has its ideological background, leaving back centuries, and technological
background, which lasted several decades.
On what grounds man became a sentient being and thus separated from the animal world?
The man in the social and employment created around himself a habitat that did not exist naturally in
the nature of the Earth.
In fact, as early mastery of fire and clothing from animal skins were the first means by which man
began to create themselves a stable artificial microenvironment that protects it from temperature
changes and seasonal changes. The transition from hunting and gathering to animal husbandry,
farming and craft guarantee the stability of obtaining food. Modern apartments, food and light
industry, in principle, it is the same activity on the formation of the environment. Then it was the
Neolithic Revolution, which began about six thousand years ago, the essence of which just consisted
in replacing the consumption of finished goods and the nature of their conditions of production.
But if a person surrounds himself microenvironment, radically different from the natural macro planet
Earth, then, strictly speaking, he had already become astronauts , although it does not leave the planet.
Thus do that ever since the Neolithic man acquired the ability for autonomy in relation to the Earth.
However, this ability now has led to the fact that

Franklins Case
1. Overview of Situation Franklins was the first supermarket chain launched no frills brand of generic
products in Australia. The company was positioned as a low prices supermarket. The operations of
Franklins were based on cost reduction principles that involved limited promotion, low inventory, a
large number of product lines and simple facilities (Brown, 1997). In 1992, Franklins had developed a
new concept, called Big Fresh, which had increased sales volume. According to Australian
Competition and Consumer Commission (1999), Franklins as the third leader supermarket chain
raised market shares with Woolworths and Coles from 40 percent in 1975 to nearly 80 percent in
1998. Although Franklins was successful in growth market share, smaller sized stores and extended
shopping hours had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Statement of Main Problem Level of Analysis The level of analysis in this case is Level 2 as
organisation issues. 1) Industry issues: 1980s were a golden age for supermarket industry and
Franklins was a mainstream supermarket format (Jacenko Gunasekera, 2005).Today, supermarket
industry is developing positively. Australian Bureau of Statistics. (2014) reported supermarket trend
break of $190 million in December 2013. 2) Organisation issues: It is obviously an organisation issue
as Franklins was not achieved mass extension and re formatting organisation since 2001. 3) Discipline
issues: Due to fail changing organisation, the marketing and communication strategies appear
confused. It is difficult to decide right message strategy toward reposition Franklins. Problem Type In
relation to Franklins, the problem type is practically a specific problem that requires a solution, which
changes the ways of organisation mass investment on extending and restructuring that can be modified
from a poor situation. The reason is Franklins lacking of success on a marketing decision, so Franklins
should choose the ways can contribute organisation development and decrease the cost of the

Descriptive Essay About My First Buck
My First Buck
It was a bitter cold November morning. November 15 to be exact. This is a very special day to my
family and I. We woke up early that morning to get ready for the exciting day ahead of us. We bundled
up in many layers of clothes and made some cofee for my Dad.
We then set off to the blind before the trophies come out. As I was walking to the blind I could see my
breath. As the sun set over the leafless trees, we began to start hearing some life throughout the woods.
Although the movement we have heard has not been the trophy we have been looking for it just keeps
my heart pumping. We have probably been in the blind for about 5 hours so we decided to go grab
something to eat from the truck when suddenly we heard heavy footsteps right behind our blind which
is where the door is. I creeked the door open and what I saw made my heart go a million miles a
second. 3 doe stood behind us creeping around. They seemed very sketchy so immediatly we closed
the door and waited for them to come around to the front of the blind. The day got so much better
knowing that there are deer in this area. Even though they were doe we still had the thought in our
mind that a trophy buck might just pass through here looking for a mate. We watched the deer walk
about 30 yards in front of us for about 20 miniutes but by that time i was ready for a buck to come
through here. It was hard to sit still in the blind because there is old about 5 feet of room in there and I
slighty moved my feet

Introduction:
Sara Lee Company s name came from one of many acquisitions done by Consolidated Foods. The
company had different name throughout its history; starting in 1939 when Nathan Cummins purchased
C.D Kenny Company. In 1942 he acquired Sprague, Warner amp; Company and changed its company
name to Sprague Warmer Kenny Corporation moving its headquarters to Chicago. Its first stock
exchange was in 1946 and in 1954 they changed its name to Consolidated Foods Corporation to best
fit its diversified role in food processing, packaging, and distribution. The company acquired many
businesses related and unrelated from its beginning until 2011; per example: in 1968 Bryan foods, a

international bakery division. The retrenchment strategy changed Sara Lee to a related diversification
oriented company out of an unrelated diversification oriented one. Sara Lee tends to relocate its
resources to its strongest business units with the help of the retrenchment strategy.

A Research On Dairy Barn
Imagine your modern day dairy barn, with your usual milk cows: manure scrapers clean the floors
constantly, feed pushers keep the feed fence ready, and tagged collars give unique insights about each
cow. But beyond all of the conventional gadgetry this barn has something else: no people. This dairy
barn features the Lely Astronaut, a new, reliable employee that uses the cow s behavior to cause them
to enter the stall and increase their milk production, and requires almost no human help. Lely is a
Dutch company founded in 1948, and since then has been one of several industry leaders committed to
building revolutionary products that use simple behaviors as an advantage to both the dairy business
and the cattle involved. Lely has come the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another benefit is that to a consumer on the outside looking in, the system is well rounded, and it s
easy to see the cows are happy and healthy. But what motivates the cattle to enter the Astronaut? Cows
begin learning to enter stalls like this early in their life and it all revolves around one thing. Food! At
six days old the calves enter a small stall to get their milk. This then turns into bigger stalls, where full
grown cows eat their daily feed. When it s time to learn how to enter the Astronaut, where nutrient
rich concentrates and relief from a full udder awaits, it s usually no problem getting the cows inside.
The secret here is association, a fairly simple idea that goes all the way back to the 1890 s with Pavlov
and his dogs. Once the cattle learn to associate the milking stall with only good things, they re willing
to enter by themselves, without the usual poking and prodding of a directed cow system, making
things much easier for both the people and the cattle involved. Getting inside the Astronaut is not a
problem either. Cows prefer a straight, uncomplicated route, and Lely has designed the I flow just for
that purpose. Although it sounds like an app for your iPhone, the I flow has reduced milking time by
4% and has increased the average milk per cow

Gun Control Laws Should Be Stricter Laws
Many people believe there should be stricter gun control laws. By this they mean, regulate the sale,
manufacture, possession, transfer, and use of firearms. They believe if the government does not make
stricter gun control laws, then gun violence and deaths due to guns will only continue to increase over
the years. Although there are many people for gun control laws, there are many people who are also
against it. Some of the people who are against gun control laws probably will not understand why
there should be stricter gun control laws until something happened to them or someone in their family
due to a gun crime. The United States did not have the civil authorities as we do today. Americans had
to rely on guns to protect themselves as laws evolved. Times were different in America and that is why
the Second Amendment was ideal. Guns were not as dangerous then as they are now. Firearms at the
time were very slow to load and that is one of the reasons gun control was not a real big issue. Gun
control started to become necessary when the rates for accidental deaths and gun violence were
continuing to increase.
The National Firearms Act was enacted in 1934. The National Firearms Act was not created to make
money, but to lower the crime rates and make it impossible for people to buy and sell automatic fire
weapons. Today many people hope that gun control laws will get stricter by allowing longer and more
background checks that go more in depth. Today the background check is

A Green Roof
Not long ago Pittsburgh was a city that travelers described as, hell with the lid off (Madrigal). The
smoke was so thick that it looked to be midnight when it was really only noon. While many can no
longer relate to what it felt like walking through this city, those few students who have ventured into
the Armstrong Tunnel that runs under campus have described emerging in a layer of filth. No one
wants to take a walk and become coated in a sheet of soot by the time they reach their destination.
Almost everyone who knows of Pittsburgh knows of its bleak past, but we can create a new future for
this city that once was concealed in smoke.
Duquesne University was built in the middle of Pittsburgh, leaving not much room for green space.
The solution to this dilemma is a garden high in the sky, a green roof. Dictionary.com describes a
green roof as, a roof covered with vegetation, designed for its aesthetic value and to optimize energy
conservation. This roof is the answer that Pittsburgh has been looking for.
Green roofs are beneficial in so many ways. First, they improve the air quality. This is due to the fact
that, Plants reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and produce oxygen (Environmental). Increasing
air quality leads to increased health and quality of life for those in the city. Second, they increase
biodiversity and wildlife. This, however, will not happen if a generic green roof is assembled.
According to research, green roofs need to be designed to meet

Choose two of the divine attributes discussed in lesson 127 and explain how Aquinas derives them.
God is one: Aquinas said if there were two or more gods, you would need a way to distinguish
between them. Since God is pure act, which Thomas reasoned in his first way, having more than one
god would be impossible. Lets say we could distinguish between them by the knowledge that one is
stronger than the other. This immediately disregards Thomas first way, saying that one god would
have an unrealized potentiality. Any characteristic that one god has or lacks over the other would mean
that the aren t fully potent and thus couldn t be first in an essential order and creator of all things.God

History of the Allied Health Care Professions
HISTORY OF THE ALLIED HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONS Many forces have shaped allied
health care in the United States. Institutions such as hospitals and the government have been and will
continue to have primary roles in the evolution of allied health care. As the allied health care system
advanced in form and complexity, so did the growth in personnel and tasks. Prior to the 1900s there
were three recognized allied health professions: the doctor, the dentist, and the nurse. Therefore your
selection of a career in allied health care was very limited. Today there are over two hundred
recognized allied health professions, with on the job training as short as several weeks, to some
professions that have up to eight to twelve years of formal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prolonging life is really a quality of life issue with the health department providing services to make a
person s life more comfortable: Examples are meals on wheels, visiting nurse, etc. Promoting a
healthy environment means monitoring the places we live, play and eat to make sure they are not a
source of health problems. Through an organized community effort means, we provide taxes monies
to provide these services. Historically, public health has existed to take care of that issue beyond the
scope of the individual. Public health existed in some ancient societies such as the Inca Indians and
Romans. Years ago the health department s main goal was to control epidemics that came through and
devastated society. Public health was mainly a policing profession and quarantine regulations were the
typical controlling methods. A second major function of the health department was to monitor the
water supply, which was a major source of these diseases that affected whole community. Thirdly the
health department provided care for the indigent patient. This factor makes many of us believe that the
health department is for those who can t afford regular allied allied health care. The health department

Symbolism In Anthem, By Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand, a prominent political figure in the 1930s and 40s, wrote Anthem, which is known for it s
political stances during the late 1930s, particularly on the political dilemmas during that time. On the
other hand, there are plenty of gender ideals represented throughout the book, seen in the theme, the
overall setting, and the two main characters in Rand s literary work.
One of the many themes in the story is how light (happiness) in a dark (difficult) situation can be a
strong motivation to those who see the light. In the first half of the book, Equality 7 2521 takes to
calling Liberty 5 3000 The Golden One, making her a symbol of his light, his happiness. Yet we call
them the Golden One, for they are not like the others. The Golden One are not like the others (Rand,
Anthem). Here Equality has begun calling her The Golden One, saying that she is different from
everyone else. This insinuates that she is the source of his happiness, similar to the idea of the
housewife: her purpose is to provide a happy and calm house for the man to come home to. Therefore,
the theme of light and its representation for happiness, demonstrates gender ideals and constructs from
Ayn Rand s time.
The literary piece is set in a place where men and women are separated and do not experience
interaction except at the Palace of Mating, where men or women have sex, without any emotional
connection or relationship. The separation of men and women insinuates there would be less control

Reflection Paper In English
In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of
Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and now,
this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and humans of all
ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures and then continue
to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such an interesting
phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence permeates throughout
language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the childhood influences upon my
language development. Being a young Southern woman, a distinct dialect permeated my childhood
environments; from home, school, and small community, the slow, slang filled conversations
enlightened me in the ways of people around me. This information partnered with the Grammar Quest
proved that my own method of verb usage perplexed me. The instruction received in my local
elementary and middle school demonstrated an error in my grandfather s way of speaking; therefore,
my way of speaking did not follow prescriptive rules, and additional instruction was deemed
necessary. With this review and research of prior writings, the use of verbs and verb forms used in a
prescriptive nature proves to be an area of concern for my own proper use of Standard English.
The following are samples of my own writing; The

Social Media Has Changed The Expectations Of Social...
Today, the average person spends at least two hours a day on social media sites. Through social media,
texting, and online chatrooms, people can communicate with others that they would otherwise have no
contact with. For this topic, it is important to define what friendship really means. Some have argued
that a friend is someone they talk with; others say it s someone they ve shared an experience with. For
this essay, friendship will be defined as someone who is kept in constant contact with through and
outside of the internet. The majority of effects seen from technology are negative: from decreased in
person social interactions, to loss of identity, and ultimately the watering down of friendships. Social
media has changed the expectations of social relationships. While technology does allow users to stay
connected with family and friends from varying distances, technology s negative effects also make it
harder to maintain those relationships and have a lasting impact on how people will pursue their future
relationships.
With the rise of social media and other forms of online communication, people have the opportunity to
connect with old and new friends alike. However, this connection through technology has changed
how people view friendship. In his article Faux Friendships, William Deresiewicz discusses how much
the ideas of friendship have changed over time. He argues that ...friendship, for the ancients, was rare,

First Aid for Adults Essay
First Aid for Adults
For my listening piece I decided to do a talk on first aid for adults. I identified the main characteristics
of scripted speech and tried to emulate them in my piece. The key characteristics of instructional
speech are that it uses very short, concise sentences to give directions. Long complex sentences can
lead to ambiguity and confusion. Instructional speech uses simple, easy to understand vocabulary as
complicated wording, jargon and terminology make instructions difficult to understand and may
confuse the listener. The points must also be presented in a logical order to make them easy to follow.
The audience should be addressed directly, using a fairly personal, ... Show more content on

In my third and fourth drafts, I put the information into even smaller blocks to emphasise the succinct
style of writing because I felt that it was still too difficult to follow; so I used more bullet points and
used capitals, underlining and italics to emphasise key words and phrases. Also in the graphology of
the piece I have used dashes in order to more effectively show where the reader would give a slight
pause. An example is in a hundred compressions a minute just under two a second .
In the third paragraph in particular, the sentences were too complex so having originally written them
as one complex sentence in the pluperfect tense, I broke them down in to one point per sentence and
put them in the present tense so that it would be easier to understand. I also changed some of the verbs
that were in the present tense into the imperative form because it made the phonology sharper and
clearer for the audience to hear. One example is in the sentence After you have returned to the casualty
and rechecked their breathing and they are not breathing or if the likely cause of unconsciousness is
trauma or drowning and they are not breathing, you now give two rescue breaths . The sentence was
much too long and confusing so I changed it to When you return to the casualty re check their
breathing. If they are not breathing or if the likely cause

I felt it necessary to point out how strong and brave she was to call out practices in a public format

Evelyn disclosed that she was afraid of what others would think of her writing about controversial
topics. This brought us into some gender role analysis. She mentioned that the boys were the members
of the paper that got the interesting and controversial stories, while the female journalists received
assignments for more fluff pieces, so she was uncomfortable writing something against the norm with
her name attached. I mentioned to Evelyn how great it was that she was able to pull herself away from
the standard female fluff pieces and really write thought provoking articles, even if that was not what
was expected of her. As Evelyn continued to explain more about her time writing, she mentioned that
she became more willing to attach her name to many of her articles after becoming a follower of St.
Thomas Aquinas, who encourages owning up to and taking responsibility for one s own personal
views. She said that through those readings, she became more confident, adding her name to
controversial pieces, however it led to severe anxiety whenever she needed to present

Literary Analysis Of The Storm
Kate Chopin implies in the selection, The Storm that the setting and the plot reinforces each character
s action, but only two characters exemplify the title itself, Calixta and Alcee. The storm becomes the
central element of Alcee s unrequited love for Calixta and ultimately the instrument of their forbidden
love to each other. Hurston concurs in the The Storm that a forbidden relationship can become a
cancerous love and silent death sentence. The Storm s theme was based on Love, Immoral affair, and
Freedom. Chopin s technique of foreshadowing, symbolism, irony, tone, and imagery set the plot for
Alcee, Calixta, Bobinot, and Clarisse in this short story. A bolt struck a tall chinaberry tree at the edge
of the field. It filled all visible space with a blinding glare and crash seemed to invade the very boards
they stood upon (425). The writer used Imagery to depict how nature shook the foundation of their
respective marriages. The significance of the tall chinaberry tree that crashed the boards was that it
made Bobinot and Clarisse almost irrelevant in the story. The author used the metaphorical expression
to indicate how the storm schemed Bobinot and Clarisse out of the reckoning. The author employed
the use of symbolism in the description of the storm. Storm, a natural phenomenon that brings about
extreme weather condition that might lead to an undesirable outcome. The Storm in the context of the
selection brought about a positive outcome. The storm in the story is not the physical storm that
occurred outside with heavy downpour, but the coming together of Alcee and Bobinot. A physical
storm forms when the atmosphere is saturated with water and droplets of water pour out from the sky.
The symbolic importance of the storm represents the liberation of Alcee and Calixta, from the
shackles of societal or moral expectation. He pushed her hair back from her face that was warm and
streaming her (425). Although Alcee pushed Calixta s hair back to see her face, the author s
interpretation was not physical. Chopin meant that Alcee was able to set Calixta free from the bondage
of marriage temporarily. Bobinot played a major role in the plot that led to infidelity between Calixta
and Alcee.

Canada And Japan Comparison Essay
You might think Canada and Japan would be very different! You are wrong, but also kind of right, I
guess. Why, you might be asking? Because ultimately, they have a lot in common, from the type of
government to the environment, but they also have a lot, and I mean A LOT, of differences, such as
beliefs, culture, and landscape. If you want some more in depth content about the two countries, well,
this project is for you! In these ten categories that I m giving you, there are some similarities and some
differences between Canada and Japan.
1. Urbanization, living areas, and housing. Canada and Japan are both very urban countries, because
90% of people in Japan and 80% of people in Canada live in urban areas. 90% of people in Japan live

Culture. It may seem that talking direct and to the point might seem normal in Canada, but Japanese
people consider that impolite, so instead they talk soft and quietly. If you have ever been to Japan or
will go there, you will notice they are very quiet and soft. Although the Japanese do not prefer to talk
as dry wittingly and sarcastically as Canadians, physical and slapstick comedy is more popular with
the Japanese. In both countries, men and women have equal rights, but gender roles vary. In Canada,
men and women can both go to work (e.g., if women go to work, men stay back to take care of the
family), but in Japan the men do all the work and women leave their jobs after having children to be
housewives and take care of the children, although some women may go back to their jobs after their
children are a little bit more grown up. In Japan, most parents will want children to focus on getting
better academic grades, whereas in Canada, parents may be a little more free about homework and
will want their children to get out and play more. For example, In Japan, parents may get children to
work on homework for multiple hours, while most parents in Canada might want their children to go

Website Analysis Essay
Website Analysis
Sometimes it seems like the computer game industry is dying, crushed to death by its own bulk. Every
year more and more gaming companies get gobbled up into huge conglomerates like Electronic Arts,
companies that mostly put out trash that is technically and visually impressive, but devoid of concept
and content. However, there are some small gaming companies that buck the trend. While mostly just
small groups of programmers and artists, some are huge unions of fans who, irritated with the
dropping quality of computer games, have decided to use the power of the internet to get together and
to produce games tailor made to their personal preferences.
For the sake of comparison, Electronic Arts website ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first level removed from EA Games is the small gaming company. Moonpod Games (
http://www.moonpod.com/), a company made up of a small but skilled group of game makers who
previously worked under different companies making other games (some well known, some more
obscure), is a good representative of this kind of game producer.
Just because Moonpod is a small business doesn t mean it doesn t know its web design. The site is
very well done and much more informative than even the EA site it has to be, since the company
doesn t have the money to make separate sites every time it comes up with a new game.
The organization of the website itself is fairly basic. A centrally located news column makes
announcements about new features, patches, or game releases. A navigation bar on the left hand side
allows easy access to the different parts of the website, and beautiful, eye catching screenshots on the
right take one to a synopsis of the games from which they come (although the buttons on the left do
that as well). The contents of the center and right hand portions change when one accesses a part of
the site specific to one of the games, changing to a synopsis of and system requirements for the game
in the center, and screenshots and related links on the right. All in all, it is a simple but effective
design.
Without the funds available to a company like EA Games, Moonpod can t use its site simply to
advertise its products. It must

Example Of Aggression Analysis
The first article I read was, Everday Aggression Takes Many Forms. There are many things that really
caught my interest in this article and I am really glad that I chose to read it. The main basis of the
article was how people intentionally hurt others daily due to their aggression and how it happens. This
really is helpful in knowing how we can stop doing these sorts of things to others and how to help
others do the same. One of the main thing to take away from this article, which was repeated, is the
definition of aggression. The definition of aggression, as stated in the article is, any behavior directed
toward the goal of harming another living being. In the article it says that aggression is often confused
with assertiveness, Openly expressing one s own needs or concerns, which is kind of the opposite of
aggression. Without knowing what aggression is defined as how can we know if we are doing it?
Aggression is intentional, at times we often get so frustrated, most commonly with the people we are
closest to, that we intentionally harm another person. It can happen in many different ways.
Aggression can be either direct or indirect. Direct aggression can be either physical or verbal. The
indirect aggression are things like relational or social aggression, going ... Show more content on

Essay on William Shakespeare s Henry IV
William Shakespeare s Henry IV
In Shakespeare s Henry IV Part 2, the brilliant playwright introduces us to several complex and
intricate themes, clever language, and a fascinating cast of multifaceted characters, including the thief
Jack Falstaff, who may be as wise as his belly is big, and the young Prince Hal, who conceals his
shrewd mind and physical prowess beneath a soiled reputation for unthrifty behavior. Perhaps the
most dynamic character of the play is Hotspur, or Henry Percy, the idealistic rebel warrior, and Hal s
rival for power, glory, and the throne. Although the public perceives him to be just an intense,
hotheaded he man, Hotspur actually has many different dimensions to his personality. Hotspur shows,

rage, making foolish and rampant claims that All studies here I solemnly defy, / Save how to pinch

(I.iii.228 233). To this Northumberland, Hotspur s father, replies Why, what a wasp stung and
impatient fool / Art thou to break into this woman s mood, / Tying thine ear to no tongue but thine

and revenge, but Hotspur s father refers to his attitude, his rashness and inability to listen, as this
woman s mood . This indicates that Hotspur may not precisely fit the mold of the stereotypical warrior
man. Prince Hal s opinion of Hotspur, and thus of his macho image, takes the idea of masculinity to its
extreme. Hal sees him as a skilled warrior, yet also one who is too intense, serious, and arrogant, and
who seems to care primarily about himself, the very epitome of masculinity in its negative form. Hal
projects this public image he has of Hotspur onto the man s home life, and mocks the

There are numerous debates in regards to developmental psychology. One of the main debates to

This theory focuses solely on children s cognitive development so that is both a strength and a
weakness as it gets an in depth understanding of children s cognitive processes however it cannot be
generalised to adults. Another strength of this theory is the fact that it can be applied practically within
the real world, especially in regards to education as it means children can be taught based upon their
developmental stage. It is extremely useful in that sense as it is nomothetic so it can be applied to
larger population. The theory contains both continuous and discontinuous, it is discontinuous as it
contains distinct hierarchal stages. It is good in one sense as it allows professionals to see if a child is
meeting the stages and if they do not action can be taken. At the same time it can be disadvantageous
as professionals, such as teachers may not push a child to reach their full cognitive capabilities as they
have met the criteria for their age. At the time this was quite revolutionary as children were once
considered little adults that only has a slightly less mental and developmental capacity. Therefore they
may not have learnt as effective as they could, as they may have been taught above or below their

Evidence Informed Practice On Facilitating Learning
Evidence informed practice in facilitating learning
Introduction
This paper will seek to explore the literature surrounding the diverse debate and narratives which have
defined the body of academic research surrounding facilitating learning and the centrality of evidence
informed practice. There has been a diverse shift in focus between the domains of research and
practice. Therefore, this paper will endeavour to ascertain key developments in order to nurture a
strong awareness of the available research. The intellectual genesis of this analysis surrounds the work
of a British academic, Professor David Hargreaves, who elucidated a new concept of educational
research. Hargreaves believed, ?teaching is not at present a research based profession? (Hargreaves,
1996). The intellectual foundations of research principles in the delivery of education are an important
dynamic. This paper, therefore, will outline the academic journey of this progression.
Literature Review ? Evidence Informed Practice in Facilitating Learning
The purpose of the literature evaluation is to explore the wider academic landscape surrounding the
research question in order to develop an understanding of the evolution of current themes and
narratives in the education sector involving facilitating learning outcomes and the evidence based
process behind this objective.

stars. Another way for a supernova to be created, is when a white dwarf siphons off hydrogen from
another star to the point where it will become unstable and explode.
What is left after the huge explosion is another dwarf star, a neutron star, or the fierce black hole. A
neutron star is about the size of a city like Los Angeles, but has the mass of about two suns. This
means it is incredibly dense and has an unbelievable gravitational pull, almost 2 billion times that on
earth. In fact, this pull is so strong that it bends radiation and allows astronomers to see the back of the

Barbecue is an art, a meditative process the perfection of which depends solely on personal judgment.

threaded on skewers which are placed so that the heat from the coal cooks the food without actually
coming in contact with the vessel. For an extra smoky flavor throw in some soaked wood chips from
oaks or hickory. You can also add a herbal essence to the meat by tossing fresh herbs like rosemary,
oregano and basil directly on the charcoal and covering the meat. Whichever way you prefer, the

The For A Family Child Care Center
Introduction
This is my Auntie Judelyn s house. It is located at 3113 El Paseo Alameda in Bay Farm. This is a big
house and it has a second floor. I mainly focus on the first floor to design an ECE environment. I
chose this house because it has an enormous space to transform into family child care center. This
house will be great where children can do various activities, feel comfortable and freely to explore in
certain learning centers.
Evaluation There are a lot of elements that would currently work for a family child care center. As you
walk into the house, there are three windows. There are two windows located at the living room and
these two windows are closeby to the yard, which is great. There is a natural light and it will make the
children be able to view the yard. The other window located at the cooking area, which is also good,
so that children can view the outside environment while they are cooking and eating. The floor is
made of tiles. Tile floors have the advantage of being very easy to appear clean and can be polished
well. There are three big carpets that are set up or lad in the floor, which are located in the living
room, cooking area and dining room. Carpet has the advantage where it make the floor a little softer to
sit on and for children to play or do activities. Carpet can be useful for seating areas like circle time,

Perfect Competition
Perfect Competition
In economic theory, perfect competition describes markets such that no participants are large enough
to have the market power to set the price of a homogeneous product. Because the conditions for
perfect competition are strict, there are few if any perfectly competitive markets. Still, buyers and
sellers in some auction type markets, say for commodities or some financial assets, may approximate
the concept. Perfect competition serves as a benchmark against which to measure real life and

Imperfect Competition
In economic theory, imperfect competition is the competitive situation in any market where the sellers
in the market sell different/dissimilar of goods, (haterogenous) that does not meet the conditions of
perfect competition. Forms of imperfect competition include: * Monopoly, in which there is only one
seller of a good. * Oligopoly, in which there are few sellers of a good. * Monopolistic competition, in
which there are many sellers producing highly differentiated goods. * Monopsony, in which there is
only one buyer of a good. * Oligopsony, in which there are few buyers of a good. * Information
asymmetry when one competitor has the advantage of more or better information.
There may also be imperfect competition due to a time lag in a market. An example is the jobless
recovery . There are many growth opportunities available after a recession, but it takes time for
employers to react, leading to high unemployment. High unemployment decreases wages, which
makes hiring more attractive, but it takes time for new jobs to be created.A type of market that does

The Dove Campaign For Real Beauty And Its Effectiveness
This essay analyses the psychology behind The Dove Campaign For Real Beauty and its effectiveness.
The analysis includes a brief explanation of the elaboration likelihood model and how it explains
attitude formation. The other section of the analysis explores the self concept and its effectiveness
towards the campaign.
The Dove brand was established in 1957 in the U.S. introducing its new innovative cleansing bar and
now with various products such as deodorants, lotions and hair products, the brand has rooted itself to
listen to women. Under the protection of Unilever, Dove has certainly made its mark and has gained
immense success especially when competing along 400 brands. However there are only 14 brands,
including Dove, which generate sales in excess of €1 billion a year (Unilever, 2015). The first stage of
the campaign, which was launched in 2004, targeted women through the use of billboard
advertisements (see Figure 1). Since then, the campaign has expanded from billboards to television
ads and its online videos have gone viral.
Using the tagline Imagine a World Where Beauty is a Source of Confidence, Not Anxiety , the
campaign instigated a global conversation about the need for a broader definition of beauty. The
reason for this was due to the findings found by The Real Truth About Beauty: A Global Report ,
which showed that only 2% of women around the world describe themselves as beautiful however

temperature for 2 bromohexane.
2. 1 hexene and 2 bromohexane are both in liquid states. So they have similar solubility. However, the
recrystallization technique can be used only when two different compounds have different solubility. 1
hexene and 2 bromohexane cannot be separated when using the recrystallization technique because
this technique is used to dissolve mixture solid in a solvent at high temperature. The solution is then
cooled until one of the compounds crystalizes.
Extraction technique also cannot be used to separate these two compounds because of the same
property they have: they are nonpolar, resulting non acid base extraction. Extraction technique is used
to separate two different compounds to organic and aqueous layer, which means one phase of one
solvent has to be polar and the other phase has to be nonpolar.

craft. The situation with the weather in the air was even worse. Battered by the winds and confused by
an overly complex flight plan, the inexperienced pilots transporting Allied airborne forces became
mixed up in the darkness and strayed from their courses. Out of the 144 gliders carrying British
paratroops to landing zones, only 12 paratroopers landed on the targeted spot, while 69 crashed into
the sea and the rest dispersed over a wide ranging area. In the American division, Colonel Gavin s
3,400 paratroopers were even more widely scattered. Gavin landed twenty five miles southeast of his
intended drop zone. The wide dispersion of paratroopers seriously jeopardized the invasion plan by
weakening the buffer these men were supposed to form. Because of their previous conditions, the men
of the 82d Airborne went right to work wherever chance landed them. They Operated in small,
isolated groups, the paratroopers created great confusion in Axis rear areas, attacking patrols and
cutting their communication lines. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Axis air reconnaissance had spotted Allied convoys moving toward Sicily earlier that day, and thus
Guzzoni had ordered a full alert on the 9th. Based upon the reported airborne drops, Guzzoni correctly
assumed that the Allies intended to come ashore in the southeast, and he issued orders to that effect on
July 10th, about an hour before the first assault wave hit the beach. Nevertheless, the weak and poorly
equipped Italian coastal units hardly put up a fight. By the end of the first day the British were firmly
ashore and well on their way toward Augusta, having walked into Syracuse virtually unchallenged.
Resistance was not much stronger in the American zone, and the Seventh Army had little trouble
moving ashore despite erratic air and artillery

First Thanksgiving Essay
It is undoubted that holidays history is the point of entry to any living cultures. In specific, the United
States national holiday in November Thanksgiving reflects the country s culture of consumerism. The
first documented Thanksgiving meal in America was between the Spanish settlers, and the Timucua
tribe in La Florida in 1565 (Franklin 19). Interestingly, the main courses were salt pork and garbanzo
beans offered by the Spanish and alligator meat offered by the Native Americans (Franklin 19).
Nonetheless, most Americans associate the first Thanksgiving with the moment when the Pilgrims
shared a three day feast with the Wampanoag in 1621 (McCabe 52). Throughout the history,
Americans have twisted the cornerstone of the Thanksgiving feast to create new traditions.
There was minimal information of the actual first Thanksgiving in 1621. ... Show more content on

Since wildfowls were high status foods in England , the Pilgrims unquestionably wanted them for the
feast (McCabe 52). Winslow mentioned that men were sent out to hunt wildfowls, including goose or
duck (Evans 86). Contrary to American s wide imaginations, turkeys were not the centerpiece of the
first Thanksgiving due to many reasons, such as they were hard to catch, and the meat was tough and
lean (Evans 86). There is a possibility that the Pilgrims utilized home grown herbs and precious
imported spices to season their foods (P. Baker and J. Baker 56). Nevertheless, they were more likely
to boil the meats, since roasting was very laborious in the old days (P. Baker and J. Baker 56). On the
other hand, the Wampanoag killed five deer to bring to the feast (McCabe 52). Venison is believed to
be the main dish of the traditional American Thanksgiving

21. Suppose that there are two fishing companies who are behaving non cooperatively. Assume that
the two sides can send out 1 or 2 fleets each; and the more fleets in the area. The more fish they catch,
but the lower the catch of each fleet. The matrix below shows the profits per week earned by the two
sides
Company 2 2 fleet
Company 1 1 fleet 10,000 / 10,000 4,000 / 12,000 2 fleet 12,000 / 4,000 7,500 / 7,500 a) What is the

One company (Company A) will have a higher profit if it sends out two fleets ($12 000) rather than

Company A will have a higher profit if it also sends out two fleets ($ 7 500 rather than $4 000). The
same thinking will affect Company B s best strategy which is to send out two fleets regardless if
company A will send out one or two. They will only have a profit of $7 500 instead of having a profit

Circumcision As An Initiation Into The Jewish Community
Circumcision has be a topic that has been discussed and debated for centuries. This childhood ritual
has had evolving purposes and has been used in numerous cultures. This research paper will be
specifically focused on the male circumcision as an initiation into the Jewish community as one of its
members. It will also discuss the other childhood ritual of introducing the Torah on cakes baked with
honey. There are many questions associated with this topics and many myths as well. What is
circumcision? Why introduce the Torah to boys on cakes? What does it represent? How has it changed
over time? What connection if any, does it have to Christianity? Does it involve ritual sacrifice? Is this
practice still around today, and if so how has it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genesis states that the first person to be circumcised was Abraham. God had told Abraham to not only
circumcise himself, but his children, his slaves, and any males in his household as well. This was a
practice that was to be done from generation to generation. In early history during BCE, this was used
as a way to separate the Israelites from the Philistines. Years earlier, there wasn t much difference
between the Israelite community and its neighboring people. But with the arrival of the Philistines
changed how they identified themselves as a separate group of people. As time progresses, so do the
opinions when it comes to circumcision.
There was a huge threat to the Jewish tradition due to the efforts of Jews to cover their marks of
circumcision. Assimilation into the communities that Jews lived in was a common challenge. Keeping
with tradition when living in a community that wasn t always accepting, was difficult. Especially
when it was sometimes punished greatly. Because circumcision was strongly associated with Judaism,
many Jews would try to remove the marks of this ritual off of their bodies. During the rule of
Antiochus IV Epiphanes, there was great crisis for the Jews that were living in Jerusalem. Previously,
Antiochus III allowed Jews to live according to their customs, but that was different under the rule of
Antiochus IV. There was bans on religious traditions and even violations of temples. Because of

Twin Rocks Friends Camp
On a chilly, windy morning on the Oregon Coast, I wake up at six to attend the daily camp counselor
meeting. Without a sound, I tip toe my way to the door without waking the five girls sleeping in the
cabin. I stop by the Undertow Cafe before the meeting. The fresh smell of a hot cup of chai wakes me
up for the hectic afternoon that awaits. In the meeting, we talk about today s events and the activities
for the girls. As I walk into the dining center, four hundred middle school girl campers await outside.
Looking out into the crowd, I think, Which girls will sit with me for this meal? or Will any of the girls
think I m cool enough to sit with? ,
After nine years attending Twin Rocks Friends Camp, my church nominated me out of many
applicants to be a counselor. In the past, I have shown many leadership attributes in Children s Sunday
School. Once a month, I created and taught lessons, keeping it both interesting and educational by
incorporating music in each class. I enjoyed the experience as a child advisor, and ... Show more

senior had never counseled before and never attended the camp before. I took the leadership role in
directions, activities, leading discussions, and most importantly, giving candy. When it was time for
swimming, I asked each girl the about safety procedures, knowing it was in there best interest if they
knew the rules. Without hesitation the girls shouted out each one; they were overjoyed to express their
knowledge about the lake rules. I worried over every little thing at first, since being in a leadership
role was new to me, but as the week progressed, I became more confident. I started moderating
discussions without hesitation, while also directing the girls to lead the discussions

An Analysis of A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant
A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant The poem A Forest Hymn talk of the origin of all the nature
that surrounds humanity and the activities of these naturally found objects. It gives an indication that
the source of all the nature that we see is God and He is the one who controls their actions in all
aspects and as to that, the poet implores the entire humanity to humble itself before the creator and
controller of nature and worship him, not necessarily in houses or in crowds as both of these are weak
and cannot stand before the might of the creator, but in natural settings. This poem is therefore widely
a statement of pantheism, which is a position that god and nature are the same. According to Matt
Slick, (2011) the word pantheism is derived from Greek words Pan meaning all and the other section
from theos meaning God. This then implies that all nature found in the universe, from the stars,
mountains, planets, wind, rain, storms are all part of what God is hence pantheists contest that God is
all and all nature is part of God. This should not be confused with the Christian perspective that God
created all nature but these are inferior to him and are in no way equal to him. This poem is generally
a pantheism statement exemplified since it equates nature to be having the same powers as God. The
poet indeed starts off by stating clearly that The groves were God s first temples. Ere man learned an
indication that if man is inferior to God, yet God used nature

Heteronormativity And Interactions
After observing the behaviors and interactions of various groups comprised of individuals of the same
gender and opposite genders at Orange Circle, it became apparent how heterosexism and
heteronormativity play a role in interactions between people of the same gender and opposite genders.
To further elaborate, it seemed that same sex groups or pairings often appeared to exhibit reserved
body language and distance in physical proximity when compared to opposite sex pairings or groups.
Additionally, it was also evident that many of the heterosexual pairings observed seemed to adhere to
or enforce standard gender roles during their interactions. Although no overt examples of
homoeroticism or homophobia were recorded, it was clear that heterosexism ... Show more content on

Upon analyzing the interactions between opposite sex pairings or groups, it was apparent that the
distance between the individuals involved seemed to be less than one foot, and many of those involved
in these interactions walked, stood, or sat angled toward one another. The lack of distance between
individuals suggests that there were higher levels of intimacy involved in the relationships of the
opposite sex pairings, and their apparent willingness to display this openly reinforced the idea that
heterosexism promotes public displays of heterosexual relationships and heterosexual intimacy. Allan
Johnson s (2006) assertion that heterosexuals are free to reveal and live their intimate relationships
openly... without being accused of flaunting their sexuality (Johnson, 2006, p. 29) is confirmed by the
behaviors exhibited by all of the heterosexual pairings observed. These heterosexual pairings seemed
considerably less reserved than their same sex counterparts and appeared to be comfortable exposing
visible signs of affection, attraction, and intimacy in a public

  • 2. Unilateral Decent Research Paper Bilateral decent is a kinship system in which individuals trace their kinship relationships through both parents. Relatives to both parents are equal in importance in this kinship system. Unilineal decent is a system that relatives use to trace their connection through only one line, patrilineal or matrilineal. With unilineal decent the line is an importance placed on whatever side has the standing for tracing kinship relationships. In a Unilineal decent system, the people in the line that are the most important would be primarily responsible for someone s economic and social welfare. They also would cooperate and associate themselves with them and their own siblings. An example of this could be that in patrilineal societies property is primarily ... Case Study Carotid Endarterectomy Carotid endarterectomy in Moyamoya disease: a case report We report the case of a 55 year old female who was operated for stenosis of the right internal carotid artery in the setting of Moyamoya disease previously treated with extensive carotid and cerebral vascular reconstructions. The atherosclerotic plaque was excised and the right internal carotid artery was repaired with bovine pericardium. The utilization of carotid endarterectomy in the surgical management of Moyamoya disease is poorly described in the literature. Moyamoya disease is progressive cerebral vasculopathy characterized by bilateral stenosis or occlusion of the arteries of the circle of Willis that entails a poor prognosis without cerebral revascularization. We report a case of severe stenosis of the right internal carotid artery refractory to percutaneous intervention in the setting of complex Moyamoya disease. In front of me was a 65 inch Samsung television Me and my friend were playing FIFA on my XBOX and he was destroying me so far. It was only the second minute and he s already scored. I was FC Barcelona and he was Real Madrid. I had the legendary forward and he had the legendary FIFA skills. I was mad and I really feld hurt after he scored. That was mostly because before we started the game we both agreed that the winner would get 15 dollars. He also had a disadvantage in one key area , fortunately. That was his formation. His formation was a 4 3 3 attack which was three forwards three midfielders, a left back, a right back, two center backs, and one goalie. I had a 4 3 3 holding which meant that I had a defensive midfield instead of just three plain old midfielders. Overall, this meant that. Madrid had the ball and it was Modric, one of their midfielders who was dribbling. I made Sergio Busquets ( defensive midfield) do a slide tackle. The ball ricocheted on Modric s foot and went straight to Ousmane Dembele ( left forward ). Then came the mind blowing moves. He dribbled past the midfield and the forward. Then, he sombrero flicked Carvajal ( opposition s right back), nutmegged Sergio Ramos ( opposition s center back). Then he shot. The goalie jumped and punched the ball. The ball was over Dembele. What could he do. He decided to attempt a bicycle. The perfectly timed and monitored shot ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And this long journey that opens the way for us to perfect contemplation of the cosmos and its component parts, is really considered one of the truly deserving feats of humanity. Exit man in space has its ideological background, leaving back centuries, and technological background, which lasted several decades. On what grounds man became a sentient being and thus separated from the animal world? The man in the social and employment created around himself a habitat that did not exist naturally in the nature of the Earth. In fact, as early mastery of fire and clothing from animal skins were the first means by which man began to create themselves a stable artificial microenvironment that protects it from temperature changes and seasonal changes. The transition from hunting and gathering to animal husbandry, farming and craft guarantee the stability of obtaining food. Modern apartments, food and light industry, in principle, it is the same activity on the formation of the environment. Then it was the Neolithic Revolution, which began about six thousand years ago, the essence of which just consisted in replacing the consumption of finished goods and the nature of their conditions of production. But if a person surrounds himself microenvironment, radically different from the natural macro planet Earth, then, strictly speaking, he had already become astronauts , although it does not leave the planet. The company was positioned as a low prices supermarket. The operations of Franklins were based on cost reduction principles that involved limited promotion, low inventory, a large number of product lines and simple facilities (Brown, 1997). • 7. Descriptive Essay About My First Buck My First Buck It was a bitter cold November morning. November 15 to be exact. This is a very special day to my family and I. We woke up early that morning to get ready for the exciting day ahead of us. We bundled up in many layers of clothes and made some cofee for my Dad. We then set off to the blind before the trophies come out. As I was walking to the blind I could see my breath. As the sun set over the leafless trees, we began to start hearing some life throughout the woods. Although the movement we have heard has not been the trophy we have been looking for it just keeps my heart pumping. We have probably been in the blind for about 5 hours so we decided to go grab something to eat from the truck when suddenly we heard heavy footsteps right behind our blind which is where the door is. I creeked the door open and what I saw made my heart go a million miles a second. 3 doe stood behind us creeping around. They seemed very sketchy so immediatly we closed the door and waited for them to come around to the front of the blind. The day got so much better knowing that there are deer in this area. Even though they were doe we still had the thought in our mind that a trophy buck might just pass through here looking for a mate. We watched the deer walk about 30 yards in front of us for about 20 miniutes but by that time i was ready for a buck to come through here. It was hard to sit still in the blind because there is old about 5 feet of room in there and I slighty moved my feet ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Another benefit is that to a consumer on the outside looking in, the system is well rounded, and it s easy to see the cows are happy and healthy. But what motivates the cattle to enter the Astronaut? Cows begin learning to enter stalls like this early in their life and it all revolves around one thing. Food! At six days old the calves enter a small stall to get their milk. This then turns into bigger stalls, where full grown cows eat their daily feed. When it s time to learn how to enter the Astronaut, where nutrient rich concentrates and relief from a full udder awaits, it s usually no problem getting the cows inside. The secret here is association, a fairly simple idea that goes all the way back to the 1890 s with Pavlov and his dogs. Once the cattle learn to associate the milking stall with only good things, they re willing to enter by themselves, without the usual poking and prodding of a directed cow system, making things much easier for both the people and the cattle involved. Although there are many people for gun control laws, there are many people who are also against it. Some of the people who are against gun control laws probably will not understand why there should be stricter gun control laws until something happened to them or someone in their family due to a gun crime. The United States did not have the civil authorities as we do today. Americans had to rely on guns to protect themselves as laws evolved. Times were different in America and that is why the Second Amendment was ideal. Guns were not as dangerous then as they are now. Firearms at the time were very slow to load and that is one of the reasons gun control was not a real big issue. Gun control started to become necessary when the rates for accidental deaths and gun violence were continuing to increase. The National Firearms Act was enacted in 1934. Symbolism In Anthem, By Ayn Rand Ayn Rand, a prominent political figure in the 1930s and 40s, wrote Anthem, which is known for it s political stances during the late 1930s, particularly on the political dilemmas during that time. On the other hand, there are plenty of gender ideals represented throughout the book, seen in the theme, the overall setting, and the two main characters in Rand s literary work. One of the many themes in the story is how light (happiness) in a dark (difficult) situation can be a strong motivation to those who see the light. In the first half of the book, Equality 7 2521 takes to calling Liberty 5 3000 The Golden One, making her a symbol of his light, his happiness. Yet we call them the Golden One, for they are not like the others. The Golden One are not like the others (Rand, Anthem). Here Equality has begun calling her The Golden One, saying that she is different from everyone else. This insinuates that she is the source of his happiness, similar to the idea of the housewife: her purpose is to provide a happy and calm house for the man to come home to. Therefore, the theme of light and its representation for happiness, demonstrates gender ideals and constructs from Ayn Rand s time. The literary piece is set in a place where men and women are separated and do not experience interaction except at the Palace of Mating, where men or women have sex, without any emotional connection or relationship. Reflection Paper In English In my initial submission for Lesson 1, I recall being amused by the statement in the introduction of Navigating English Grammar that humans have always been fascinated by language. Then, and now, this still seems like an understatement to me. Language is an incredible facet to me and humans of all ages. To consider that an infant can communicate with few words and more gestures and then continue to develop the use of language as the number of words increase proves to be such an interesting phenomenon which has an influence on a human s existence. This influence permeates throughout language in formal or informal use. In that same lesson, I recall the childhood influences upon my language development. Being a young Southern woman, a distinct dialect permeated my childhood environments; from home, school, and small community, the slow, slang filled conversations enlightened me in the ways of people around me. This information partnered with the Grammar Quest proved that my own method of verb usage perplexed me. The instruction received in my local elementary and middle school demonstrated an error in my grandfather s way of speaking; therefore, my way of speaking did not follow prescriptive rules, and additional instruction was deemed necessary. With this review and research of prior writings, the use of verbs and verb forms used in a prescriptive nature proves to be an area of concern for my own proper use of Standard English. Through social media, texting, and online chatrooms, people can communicate with others that they would otherwise have no contact with. For this topic, it is important to define what friendship really means. Some have argued that a friend is someone they talk with; others say it s someone they ve shared an experience with. For this essay, friendship will be defined as someone who is kept in constant contact with through and outside of the internet. The majority of effects seen from technology are negative: from decreased in person social interactions, to loss of identity, and ultimately the watering down of friendships. Social media has changed the expectations of social relationships. While technology does allow users to stay connected with family and friends from varying distances, technology s negative effects also make it harder to maintain those relationships and have a lasting impact on how people will pursue their future relationships. With the rise of social media and other forms of online communication, people have the opportunity to connect with old and new friends alike. However, this connection through technology has changed how people view friendship. • 21. Literary Analysis Of The Storm Kate Chopin implies in the selection, The Storm that the setting and the plot reinforces each character s action, but only two characters exemplify the title itself, Calixta and Alcee. The storm becomes the central element of Alcee s unrequited love for Calixta and ultimately the instrument of their forbidden love to each other. Hurston concurs in the The Storm that a forbidden relationship can become a cancerous love and silent death sentence. The Storm s theme was based on Love, Immoral affair, and Freedom. Chopin s technique of foreshadowing, symbolism, irony, tone, and imagery set the plot for Alcee, Calixta, Bobinot, and Clarisse in this short story. A bolt struck a tall chinaberry tree at the edge of the field. It filled all visible space with a blinding glare and crash seemed to invade the very boards they stood upon (425). The writer used Imagery to depict how nature shook the foundation of their respective marriages. The significance of the tall chinaberry tree that crashed the boards was that it made Bobinot and Clarisse almost irrelevant in the story. The author used the metaphorical expression to indicate how the storm schemed Bobinot and Clarisse out of the reckoning. The author employed the use of symbolism in the description of the storm. Storm, a natural phenomenon that brings about extreme weather condition that might lead to an undesirable outcome. The Storm in the context of the selection brought about a positive outcome. The storm in the story is not the physical storm that occurred outside with heavy downpour, but the coming together of Alcee and Bobinot. A physical storm forms when the atmosphere is saturated with water and droplets of water pour out from the sky. The symbolic importance of the storm represents the liberation of Alcee and Calixta, from the shackles of societal or moral expectation. He pushed her hair back from her face that was warm and streaming her (425). Although Alcee pushed Calixta s hair back to see her face, the author s interpretation was not physical. Chopin meant that Alcee was able to set Calixta free from the bondage of marriage temporarily. Bobinot played a major role in the plot that led to infidelity between Calixta and Alcee. ... There are many things that really caught my interest in this article and I am really glad that I chose to read it. The main basis of the article was how people intentionally hurt others daily due to their aggression and how it happens. Perhaps the most dynamic character of the play is Hotspur, or Henry Percy, the idealistic rebel warrior, and Hal s rival for power, glory, and the throne. It is extremely useful in that sense as it is nomothetic so it can be applied to larger population. The theory contains both continuous and discontinuous, it is discontinuous as it contains distinct hierarchal stages. It is good in one sense as it allows professionals to see if a child is meeting the stages and if they do not action can be taken. At the same time it can be disadvantageous as professionals, such as teachers may not push a child to reach their full cognitive capabilities as they have met the criteria for their age. At the time this was quite revolutionary as children were once considered little adults that only has a slightly less mental and developmental capacity. God had told Abraham to not only circumcise himself, but his children, his slaves, and any males in his household as well. This was a practice that was to be done from generation to generation. In early history during BCE, this was used as a way to separate the Israelites from the Philistines. Years earlier, there wasn t much difference between the Israelite community and its neighboring people. But with the arrival of the Philistines changed how they identified themselves as a separate group of people. As time progresses, so do the opinions when it comes to circumcision. There was a huge threat to the Jewish tradition due to the efforts of Jews to cover their marks of circumcision. Assimilation into the communities that Jews lived in was a common challenge. Keeping with tradition when living in a community that wasn t always accepting, was difficult. Especially when it was sometimes punished greatly. Because circumcision was strongly associated with Judaism, many Jews would try to remove the marks of this ritual off of their bodies. During the rule of Antiochus IV Epiphanes, there was great crisis for the Jews that were living in Jerusalem. Previously, Antiochus III allowed Jews to live according to their customs, but that was different under the rule of Antiochus IV. There was bans on religious traditions and even violations of temples. Because of Antiochus IV ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Twin Rocks Friends Camp On a chilly, windy morning on the Oregon Coast, I wake up at six to attend the daily camp counselor meeting. Without a sound, I tip toe my way to the door without waking the five girls sleeping in the cabin. I stop by the Undertow Cafe before the meeting. The fresh smell of a hot cup of chai wakes me up for the hectic afternoon that awaits. In the meeting, we talk about today s events and the activities for the girls. As I walk into the dining center, four hundred middle school girl campers await outside. Looking out into the crowd, I think, Which girls will sit with me for this meal? or Will any of the girls think I m cool enough to sit with? , After nine years attending Twin Rocks Friends Camp, my church nominated me out of many applicants to be a counselor. In the past, I have shown many leadership attributes in Children s Sunday School. Once a month, I created and taught lessons, keeping it both interesting and educational by incorporating music in each class. I enjoyed the experience as a child advisor, and ... Fortunately for me, my senior had never counseled before and never attended the camp before. I took the leadership role in directions, activities, leading discussions, and most importantly, giving candy. When it was time for swimming, I asked each girl the about safety procedures, knowing it was in there best interest if they knew the rules. Without hesitation the girls shouted out each one; they were overjoyed to express their knowledge about the lake rules. I worried over every little thing at first, since being in a leadership role was new to me, but as the week progressed, I became more confident. I started moderating discussions without hesitation, while also directing the girls to lead the discussions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. An Analysis of A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant A Forest Hymn by William Cullen Bryant The poem A Forest Hymn talk of the origin of all the nature that surrounds humanity and the activities of these naturally found objects. It gives an indication that the source of all the nature that we see is God and He is the one who controls their actions in all aspects and as to that, the poet implores the entire humanity to humble itself before the creator and controller of nature and worship him, not necessarily in houses or in crowds as both of these are weak and cannot stand before the might of the creator, but in natural settings. This poem is therefore widely a statement of pantheism, which is a position that god and nature are the same. According to Matt Slick, (2011) the word pantheism is derived from Greek words Pan meaning all and the other section from theos meaning God. This then implies that all nature found in the universe, from the stars, mountains, planets, wind, rain, storms are all part of what God is hence pantheists contest that God is all and all nature is part of God. This should not be confused with the Christian perspective that God created all nature but these are inferior to him and are in no way equal to him. This poem is generally a pantheism statement exemplified since it equates nature to be having the same powers as God. The poet indeed starts off by stating clearly that The groves were God s first temples. Ere man learned an indication that if man is inferior to God, yet God used nature ... • 50. Heteronormativity And Interactions After observing the behaviors and interactions of various groups comprised of individuals of the same gender and opposite genders at Orange Circle, it became apparent how heterosexism and heteronormativity play a role in interactions between people of the same gender and opposite genders. To further elaborate, it seemed that same sex groups or pairings often appeared to exhibit reserved body language and distance in physical proximity when compared to opposite sex pairings or groups. Additionally, it was also evident that many of the heterosexual pairings observed seemed to adhere to or enforce standard gender roles during their interactions. Although no overt examples of homoeroticism or homophobia were recorded, it was clear that heterosexism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Upon analyzing the interactions between opposite sex pairings or groups, it was apparent that the distance between the individuals involved seemed to be less than one foot, and many of those involved in these interactions walked, stood, or sat angled toward one another. The lack of distance between individuals suggests that there were higher levels of intimacy involved in the relationships of the opposite sex pairings, and their apparent willingness to display this openly reinforced the idea that heterosexism promotes public displays of heterosexual relationships and heterosexual intimacy. Allan Johnson s (2006) assertion that heterosexuals are free to reveal and live their intimate relationships openly... without being accused of flaunting their sexuality (Johnson, 2006, p. 29) is confirmed by the behaviors exhibited by all of the heterosexual pairings observed. These heterosexual pairings seemed considerably less reserved than their same sex counterparts and appeared to be comfortable exposing visible signs of affection, attraction, and intimacy in a public ...
