                                    visible, unlike

Here I have a barcode that is visible, whereas
the Bazaar magazine doesn’t, showing I am
challenging the conventions.

                     What's on

                  Relevant pictures
Throughout the contents page I have
                                                           highlighted the key information in
purple to make sure the college theme
is running throughout. By doing so, this
CONNOTATIONS? connotes that the college life is
                                                           important and fun.

For the Masthead I have
used the college colour,
purple, this links it back to
the college itself, a small
connotation that it is a
student magazine.

   For the word sport I
   have used the colour
   blue because sport is
   generally linked to
   males, just like the
   colour blue.

For the ‘Exclusive’ I have used an italic font next
to a regular one to emphasise the meaning. This
connotes that the exclusive is one of a kind; a
one off. It is in white and bold to make it stand
out and catch the audiences attention.
STRENGTHS VS. WEAKNESSES
                       Feedback from my audience shows
that my front cover has both
                       strengths and weaknesses.

                 Strengths Weaknesses

             • Picture placement – • White space – There is
it is a nice composition too much white space
and fits the page well. that could be
             • Catchy cover/sell filled, making the page
lines – The coverlines look a little less empty.
are nice and catchy and • Thin type – The type
appeal to the audience. font used for the
             • Colours – The colours coverlines (apart from the
                                               main coverline) is too thin
                  used on the page all
                                               and doesn’t catch the eye
                  match and create a
                                               as much as it should.
                  nice theme that runs
throughout. • Mast head – The mast
                                               head needs to be Bigger
                                               because is fades away
                                               into the coverlines, not
                                               standing out the way a
                                               masthead should.
STRENGTHS VS. WEAKNESSES
                          Feedback from my audience shows
that my contents page has both
                          strengths and weaknesses.

                Strengths Weaknesses

            • Layout – The page layout is • White space – There is
very consistent, it is neat and too much white space
tidy and pleasing to the eye. taking over the page, the
                                                       type font should be bigger
            • Rule of Thirds - It is clear
                                                       to prevent this.
that the rule of thirds has
                                                   • Better pictures - The
                 been taken into account for
                                                       pictures aren't that relevant
this contents page. to the information on the
                                                       page.
                                                   • Pictures - The pictures
                                                       could be of more relevance
                                                       and their layout could be
                                                       improved.
                                                   • Link – should make the
                                                       link between the picture
                                                       and text more noticeable, a
                                                       suggestion was to put the
                                                       page number on the
                                                       picture of where the
                                                       relevant text would be
                                                       found.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNT?

When using the camera I had to look at the rule of
thirds, composition, shot types (close up, medium
shot and long shot) and angles, all of which would
             make up the perfect picture.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNT?
When putting my front cover together I had to use the industry
standard program, Photoshop, to enable me to create a
somewhat professional looking magazine cover. Whilst using
this I have learnt how the program works, how to put and work
on an image; changing its saturation, crop and placement. I
also learnt how to use and perfect text for the front cover.
Getting used to working with all the different layers was
confusing at first, but I soon got used to it.

I have also come accustom to all of
the different tools that are available
on Photoshop, practising in my own
time to make sure I am able to use
                           them with ease in lesson.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNT?
When putting my contents page together I had to use the
industry standard program, InDesign. By using this it enable me
to make sure my contents page and its layout was accurate
and of a professional standard. When using this new program I
learnt how to put in and fix images with picture placement, how
to make sure my page obeyed the rule of thirds and how to use
and perfect the text. By going away and practicing in my own
time, I was accustom to the tools I had to use, so I was
comfortable in getting on with my work.

By using InDesign I was
also able to bring
everything together so my
front cover and contents
page were side by side.
WHAT HAVE I LEARNT?

All of my Media coursework has to be in blog form, so to do this we
have used the site Blogger. Being new to this site I had to start from
scratch and learn how to use it to my best ability, getting used to
creating new posts, adding labels and converting images into PDF’s
and then uploading them and putting my posts in date order.

Strengths Weaknesses • Layout – The page layout is • White space – There is very consistent, it is neat and too much white space tidy and pleasing to the eye. taking over the page, the type font should be bigger • Rule of Thirds - It is clear to prevent this. that the rule of thirds has • Better pictures - The been taken into account for pictures aren't that relevant this contents page. to the information on the page. • Pictures - The pictures could be of more relevance and their layout could be improved. • Link – should make the link between the picture and text more noticeable, a suggestion was to put the page number on the picture of where the relevant text would be found.
  • 8. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT? When using the camera I had to look at the rule of thirds, composition, shot types (close up, medium shot and long shot) and angles, all of which would make up the perfect picture.
  • 9. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT? When putting my front cover together I had to use the industry standard program, Photoshop, to enable me to create a somewhat professional looking magazine cover. Whilst using this I have learnt how the program works, how to put and work on an image; changing its saturation, crop and placement. I also learnt how to use and perfect text for the front cover. Getting used to working with all the different layers was confusing at first, but I soon got used to it. I have also come accustom to all of the different tools that are available on Photoshop, practising in my own time to make sure I am able to use them with ease in lesson.
  • 10. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT? When putting my contents page together I had to use the industry standard program, InDesign. By using this it enable me to make sure my contents page and its layout was accurate and of a professional standard. When using this new program I learnt how to put in and fix images with picture placement, how to make sure my page obeyed the rule of thirds and how to use and perfect the text. By going away and practicing in my own time, I was accustom to the tools I had to use, so I was comfortable in getting on with my work. By using InDesign I was also able to bring everything together so my front cover and contents page were side by side.
  • 11. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT? All of my Media coursework has to be in blog form, so to do this we have used the site Blogger. Being new to this site I had to start from scratch and learn how to use it to my best ability, getting used to creating new posts, adding labels and converting images into PDF’s and then uploading them and putting my posts in date order.
