Ace Cashier Research Paper
How to be an Ace Cashier So you want to know how to deal with customers, it might seem hard at
first but i ll teach you all that you ll need to know to become a cashier. Every customer is one of a
kind, all of them have different ways on how they speak, act and think. Overall there are the three
basic people that will come in being: Mr. Nice Guy, Mr. In And Out, The Drinkers (drunks). I have
been dealing will all types of these customers for years now, working in this pizza shop for a good two
years. Personally my first six months working here I was strictly just answering phones and being a
cashier, dealing with thousands of customers. I will show the ways how you will need to act and speak
with these different types of customers in a proper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This customer can hardly make it thru the door, stumbling over their own feet. Grabbing onto anything
to stay standing while holding their alcoholic drink in the other hand. Having squinty eyes, a smirk of
a thousand smiles and barely being able to keep their heads up. The Drunks come in wearing all sorts
of different types of clothing, the guys wearing things ranging from tuxedos to halloween costumes
and the girls usually wearing dresses and clothes that are dressing to impress . They can go on and on
forever telling stories about their lives, but don t worry usually they are funny and upbeat adventures.
If you treat them right, The drunks generally leave tips ranging from five to twenty dollars and
sometimes you ll just get and absurd tip. The Drunks are the styrofoam take out boxes. Something to
just get by with, a container that you can eat on right then and their. Treated as a joke and is okay to
laugh at every once and awhile. Personally theses are my favorite customers to deal with, I love
having an enjoyable and amusing conversation with them. To cope with The Drunks is simple, keep
the conversations going, always look like you re intrigued with their stories. Smile and be happy they
love to joke around. They are almost like toddlers, they get entertained very easily. Speak in a less
intelligent way, not like you are stupid, be simple with the way you speech. The more and more you
interact with The Drunks the better you will get to handle

Oceania Citizen in 1984
A Utopia turned wrong would cause suspicion, discomfort, curiosity, anger, malevolent behavior and
all loss for true love. Riots would occur turning civilized people to become savages and barbarians.
Half of this is true for the country of Oceania. A Utopia that is not so perfect is depicted in George
Orwell s famous novel, 1984. Some citizens are turned against the government and its officials when
they discover the falsehoods and corrupt ideas of their Utopian government. Oceania citizen Winston
Smith discovers the many false aspect of his society and tries to rise against this tainted government.

controlling government, and ripped of their privacy and individualism. Citizens discover that there is
no way to escape the controlling and cruel laws of their government. George Orwell try to show us
how our actions can affect us, and how this may happen in the future if we do not change our path

Similarities Between Lord Of Flies And Lord Of The Flies
Living a life without any adults giving orders or making rules, not having to listen to them tell
everyone what to do or not to do sounds pretty marvelous. Many kids dream of living their own life
without their parents or other adults telling them what to do, however, oftentimes, we see their plan
backfire on themselves and they end up running to the parents, not knowing what to do. In the novel
The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, there is a plane crash, involving a group of boys not much
older than 12 years old. The plane crash takes place during World War II and the plane crashes onto an
island, stranding the boys by themselves, without any information or adults. In the film adaptation of
the novel The Mist by Stephen King, there is a mist that covers the town of Bridgton, trapping a group
of adults in a grocery store. The mist, what many people consider an apocalypse, takes place during
present times, in the state of Maine. [The novel The Lord of the Flies and the movie The Mist both
portray human nature as essentially evil and savage, all the same loyalty plays a key part in
influencing the decisions and actions of the characters of each story leading to some sections of
resemblance and some sections of discrepancies. Both passive and active, religion plays a role in both
stories, however while the same religious concept is in each story, there are many contrast between the
novel and the film adaptation.] The most advanced stage of the human nature is called

assata shakur
Brandon Ross September 3, 2014 Africana Studies, SP12 Assata Shakur Paper Assata Shakur is a very
strong and determined individual that refused to give up her beliefs and ideas to receive her freedom.
When she was incarcerated, treated like an animal, beaten to a bloody pulp and lost all basic human
rights, she only grew more stronger and determined. Shakur was a political prisoner and suffered
because of her Black Panther Black Liberation Army affiliation. She spent six years in prison for
crimes that she was not proven to have done or had any connection to. Most people would have given
up and sold out to get their freedom back, she didn t because she simply took it back! Shakur s life

Her time in the hospital became better as her body healed and the abuse from the officers stopped. A
short time later Shakur was transported from the hospital to Middlesex County jail. It seemed like the
middle of the night...A wheelchair was waiting for me. I figured they were taking me to jail said
Shakur describing the experience. (Assata 45) Shakur s status as a political activist would affect her
greatly in prison. The federal authorities wanted Shakur isolated from all the other prisoners because
they did not want her to spread her radical ideas to any of the other prisoners which could possibly
result in a revolt. Her cell was isolated from all the other prisoners and was patrolled by guards at all
times. In prison, Shakur was subjected to the nihilistic ideas that she encountered on the outside.
During this time blacks were treated as lower class citizens. Society wanted to keep African
Americans in the same ghettos and isolate us from the nicer neighborhoods (domestic colonialism).
They did this by racial profiling (Assata Shakur s arrest on the turnpike), police highly populating
certain areas and raising prices to live in certain areas. These methods create a sense of self
worthlessness inside of a person which often lead to crime. This trend often leads to African
Americans being arrested and incarcerated. Once in prison, the system has now taken the little power
that the person once had (the right to vote, speak etc.) The prisoner now

Comparing Slaughterhouse Five And Full Metal Jacket
Between Slaughterhouse Five, a novel written by Kurt Vonnegut, and Full Metal Jacket, a film
directed by Stanley Kubrick, we can see many significant similarities in ideas and themes. Both of
them have major ideas regarding brainwashing of war as well as acceptance which, in a sense, go hand
in hand. However, since Full Metal Jacket follows Joker, the main character, he displays more ideas of
compassion and humanity while Slaughterhouse Five follows Billy Pilgrim, the main character, he
shows more of themes that reveal that time is cyclical and how everything ends up back at the
beginning.
Brainwashing is a significant part of every war and every soldier in every war; it is also a major theme
in Slaughterhouse Five and Full Metal Jacket. In a scene where Joker is in a helicopter with a door
gunner, the door gunner is shooting at Vietnamese farmers and civilians from a helicopter and says
that Joker should write a story about him because he has got 157 dead gooks killed to which Joker
responds by asking if he s killed any women or children and he says, sometimes. Then, Joker asks,
how can you shoot women or children? and the gunner responds by saying, Easy! Ya just don t lead
em so much! Ain t war hell? (Full Metal Jacket). As we can see, yes, war is definitely hell. The gunner
has been so brainwashed by the drilling of war training that he feels nothing when shooting at
innocent people from a helicopter, not even women and children. For a normal person, it would be

The Influence that Issey Miyake´s Japanese Heritage Hand...
Discuss the influence that Issey Miyake s Japanese heritage had on his designs.
1971 Miyake s intentions where To discover the traditional beauty of a Japan which is disappearing; to
emphasise the importance of industrially produced clothes by using synthetic materials; to
demonstrate the secret beauty of Japanese women. I am striving to create clothes which give
paramount importance to the movement of the body. Rather than fashion that one puts on, I want to
produce fashion that one takes off...for that is where the beauty of man s primitive spirit is found.

224). Jouve (1997) suggests that Miyake s approach differs to Western design arguing that he sees the
body as a reed, a neutral flexible thing, in the tradition of the kimono. Yet Miyake suggests that the
oversized and sculptural shapes have more to do with accessibility and the experience of the wearer: I
want women to be able to wear my clothing in the kitchen, when they re pregnant...My clothes are for
the young, the old, the short, the tall. They re ageless you see? (Frankel, 2001, p.48)
Miyake basic philosophy can be traced to the traditions of the kimono and, Samurais, paper arts, the
tea ceremony and Buddhist concepts. The kimonos simple construction makes it accessible to very
social strata of Japan. Despite being boxy, it drapes the body loosely with plenty of space between the
body and cloth, allowing freedom of movement with simplicity of cut. While traditional Japanese
clothes have been made of natural fibres such as cotton, silk and paper, Miyake places emphasis on
the ancient interest and import of industrially produced clothes with synthetic materials. He sees
technology as a way to revive rather than replace tradition and craftsmanship. He comments that the
joint power of technology and manual work enables us to revive the warmth of the human hand, in
other words, to come close to the value inherent in artisanal work (Sato, 1998, p. 55). By doing this he

Understanding Burnout Of The Pastors
CHAPTER FOUR UNDERSTANDING BURNOUT OF THE PASTORS IN NORTHEAST
FLORIDA
In the previous two chapters, some theories of stress and burnout, pastoral ministry, and especially the
context of African American churches and pastors were discussed. With this background of the
research literature, this chapter will discuss the experiential research used in this study with selected
African American pastors. It will also analyze burnout of pastors in Northeast Florida African
American by analyzing the results of the survey and burnout focus group.
Description of Sample and Procedure
Sample
Participants in the survey were Northeast Florida clergy who work in church districts of various
denominations.
Procedures
The sample was obtained by asking permission from individual to conduct this research. After
obtaining his approval, the survey packets that included a cover letter, demographic questionnaire and
burnout inventory were distributed to the participants who in early April 2016. Although
approximately 50 survey packets were sent to pastors in the area. Only 26 participants (52%)
completed the survey with usable data for the research. Some of the pastors have of a traditional,
conservative character, some declined to answer the questionnaire by saying that the subject does not
apply to them. Moreover, five were not in a paid pastoral position, six were not pastors, and two were
incomplete.
The other participants were sent by mail the same survey packet. A total of 50 survey

Designing A Windows Registry Autorun
MSC.BAT was used to initialize the persistent installation of the other two binaries, NTLHAFD.GCP
and NTSVCHOST.EXE, and cleanup the installation. A Windows registry Autorun key was set to
provide persistence. NTLHAFD.GCP was the backdoor and was encrypted with RC4 stream cipher
and compressed using the Zlib library (GReAT, 2013a). Before executing the decryption and memory
load routines, the loader, NTSVCHOST.EXE, first attempted to connect to legitimate Microsoft
domains (update.microsoft.com, www.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com) to determine if the
victim computer was able to route to the internet. If the infected computer was not online, the loader
would not decrypt the backdoor, NTLHAFD.GCP. When online, the loader would execute the
decryption and memory load routines, and the backdoor would communicate periodically with the
designated Command and Control server. From an antivirus perspective, the backdoor that was on
disk was encrypted, and the more nefarious code was only in its unencrypted form while in memory.
In order to reverse engineer the malware, it required either connecting to the internet or tricking the
malware into believing it was on the internet.
Red October s Second Stage Command and Control and Loaded Modules After successfully
establishing a connection to one of the three hardcoded Command and Control servers built into every
installation of Red October, the backdoor was capable of loading additional modules. Some of these

Pathos in MLK Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail
Pathos in MLK, Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail In his Letter, Martin Luther King Jr. s ability to
effectively use pathos, or to appeal to the emotions of his audiences, is evident in a variety of places.
More particularly in paragraph fourteen, King demonstrates his ability to inspire his fellow civil rights
activists, invoke empathy in the hearts of white moderates, and create compassion in the minds of the
eight clergyman to which the Letter is directed. In response to the clergyman s claim that his use of
direct action was untimely, King states, We have waited for more than 340 years for our constitutional

Why are we still moving so slowly toward independence? King is pushing the people of the black
community to act, to be involved in what will be their history with his words of inspiration and at the
same time making it clear to them that the time to act is now. Like instruments in an orchestra being
brought in one by one to a melody that fills the ears of its listeners and drives out any other thoughts,
King then targets the white moderate population, the white voters. He tries to place this audience into
the shoes of the black people by giving vivid descriptions of the trials they have been going through
and invoke empathy in their hearts. He says: When you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers
and fathers at will and drown your brothers and sisters at whim . . . This statement brings up an issue
every culture has had to deal with, death. Death in the American culture is one that is associated with
loss and grief. King deftly imposes this loss on the shoulders of his white audience making it clear to
them the pain the black people have been dealt. King then sums up this passage by turning his voice
back to the clergymen he s addressing and says, Then you will understand why we find it difficult to

The Characters Being Dead In The Song Of Solomon
Song of Solomon Questions 1. The characters being dead in the text can be related to their race and/or
their gender. Milkman can be seen as dead because he has no purpose in life; he doesn t seem to know
what being black means like the other characters in the text do, and he doesn t realize how him being a
man affects the females in the text. Most of the women are dead because they are left behind or
controlled by the men in the story. They do not take their lives for their own, so they do not have one;
they can be considered dead. However, Pilate could break this trend because unlike the other females
she takes her life for herself and controls it. Later on in the story, Guitar can be seen as dead even
though it s not apart of his name. He lets his life be controlled by anger and hunger. Despite him
justifying his actions with the Seven Days as justice, he does this based on anger and cannot answer
Milkman s questions on the ethical view of it. He also seeks to take the life of Milkman when he
suspects he s run off with the gold. 2. The song in the novel gives insight on the background
knowledge that Milkman is looking for about his family. The events that the song describes can also
be applied to Milkman and the people around him. Those who know the Song of Solomon do not
question Solomon flying off and leaving behind everyone. They are also quick to put Ryna in a bad
light, naming her after a ditch and saying she could not live without a man. This is a

Osmosis Decalcified Egg Lab Report
Osmosis is a slow passive transport process, by which of water from a lower solute concentrated
environment to a greater solute concentrated environment through a semipermeable membrane. The
solute is the substance that dissolves in water, such as sugar, or salt (Dalton, 2016). The total
concentration of solute in a solution is described as tonicity. According to Khan Academy, there are 3
kinds of tonicity that solution a solution can have (Osmosis and Tonicity, 2016). The first one is
isotonic, which is when the extracellular fluid has the same solute concentration as the cell, and thus
there will be no net move of water in or out of the cell. When the cell has less solute concentration
than the extracellular fluid, the extracellular fluid is described as hypertonic relatively to the cell, and

Characteristics Of Mahatma Gandhi
King Kamehameha I, the Hawaiian King, who was able to become the ali i of Hawai i after many wars
and bloodshed. Kamehameha was also the Hawaiian King, who unified the eight Hawaiian Islands.
Mahatma Gandhi, the primary leader of India s independence movement against British rule.
(biography.com Editors). Gandhi also worked to balance religious sects and classes. (Nanda,
Britannica). Therefore, these men are very effective leaders because they were very intelligent with
what they were doing, another reason that they were very effective leaders is they were hard working
leaders that never gave up on their goal. Lastly, they were effective leaders because both of them were
very determined, both did whatever they had to do in order for them to reach their goal. (Nanda,
Britannica). Kamehameha and Gandhi were effective leaders because they both were intelligent and
very determined people, which is why they were able to accomplish their goal. Kamehameha was an
effective leader because he was intelligent and determined which was great for his people. He was
intelligent because in order for him to know that he was making the right trade with foreigners he
would have his foreign advisor John Young double check his trade. This would help ensure that
Kamehameha wasn t wasting or spending their natural resources robustly with foreigners. (Potter,
Kasdon, and Rayson 26). Kamehameha was an effective leader because of this since he chose Young
to double check his trade because he was from a place that traded a lot. That meant that he has a lot of
knowledge with trading, he also knows that there are people who take advantage of rookies, who are
the Hawaiians, and that is what Young is trying to help prevent that from happening. Another reason
why Kamehameha was an effective leader is because he was very determined, by doing whatever he
had to do in order for him to reach his goal. Kamehameha was determined because he was willing to
kill his relatives in order to become the Ali i of Hawai i. But, this helped him become a more effective
leader because he proved that he would do anything it took to get what he wanted, which got him
more supporters. Next, Gandhi was an effective leader too, because he was also intelligent

Environmental Consequences Of Fracking
The various ties between the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries and the United States of
America has always ebbed and flowed. American OPEC relations have been strained by events such
as the increase in oil prices in 1973 in retaliation of the American support of Zionist terrorists that the
U.S. would call Israel , but now, the various economies of OPEC nations themselves could be under

The United States of America has invested more energy and resources into more expensive and more
controversial methods of obtaining oil and natural gas such as horizontal drilling and hydraulic
fracturing the latter commonly known as fracking. However, the emerging American industry also

Beauty And External Appearance In Beauty By James Martin
In the play Beauty by James Martin, a conflict arise between the two main character where they want
each other s most admirable quality. Bethany is very intelligent and carla is very attractive. They both
envy one another for each others quality and are unsatisfied with their external appearances. Carla
doesn t like being attractive as guys go crazy over her, while Bethany wants guys to go crazy over her.
After Bethany is granted one more wish she decides to ask carla what they should wish for. Beauty
provides a depiction of the role external appearance plays in the way people treat one another in
modern American society. In light of peoples external appearance carrying such weight in modern
american society, it has become highly important for people to enhance their external appearance in
order to gain status.According to psychology today it is almost impossible to avoid judging someone
on their appearance. research suggests that we may need to adopt a more cynical attitude. It turns out
that a candidate s appearance not beauty, but a look of competence can generate a significant vote
swing. Furthermore, this effect is not only powerful but also subliminal. Few of us realize that
appearance determines our vote, yet for a significant number of us, it may. (how we are judge by our
appearance This means appearance is still playing a big role and americans should be using this to
their advantage. This disproves the epithet that being pretty is important and shows its

Textual Analysis Of Wings Of Desire, By Wim Wenders
Wings of Desire Wings of Desire is a German film by director Wim Wenders released in 1987. The
scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene in which the angel Cassiel attempts to
comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing
Cassiel to descend into a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot
of birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the birds mixes
with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The viewers can hear his thoughts,
which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of consciousness monologue. The actor s mouth does
not move, but the viewers still hear his monologue, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a maelstrom of
quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to disorient the viewer and put them in the
same headspace as Cassiel, who is grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the
handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt.
There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench, possibly an index pointing
at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying for his mother, and footage that seems to be
from during the war, intercutting with shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically
associated with angels, and these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two
together, the angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the
montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain and carries the
burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the montage, for example in the shot of the
women in the staircase, further increasing the sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic
rather than practical language, as the information is not delivered in a straightforward

Pursuit Of Power In Macbeth
Seeking power is exhilarating but it can be someone s undoing. The hunt for power can oftentimes
lead to different external and internal consequences, which can also depend on the person or
environment. Shakespeare s Macbeth focuses on a character who eventually becomes obsessed with
the pursuit of power, and trying to control the power that he already has. His power affects him and
everyone around him. This act of trying to collect as much power as possible will ruin him, ultimately
being his downfall. The real life example of Vladimir Putin showcases that he and people around him
have also suffered the the consequences evident in Macbeth. Many times, the pursuit of power will
lead to psychological impacts such as feeling fear and guilt which can show on the outside as delusion
and insanity.
Macbeth has hallucinations based around guilt and to others he seems delusional and insane. After he

Sarcoidosis Research Paper
As previously stated, Sarcoidosis is a disease of unknown cause, and scientists are continuously
researching its exact origins. Scientists know that immune cells emit chemicals that signal other cells
to come protect an organ from a toxic substance. Subsequently, this causes inflammation in one s
body. In Sarcoidosis patients, this swelling does not recede but forms granulomas of immune cells on
an organ. Some scientists theorize that an external trigger such as bacteria or dust may lead to the
onset of symptoms. Also, research strongly supports that Sarcoidosis occurs from the genetic
inheritance of mutations in multiple genes. Gene mutations are changes in one or few nucleotides in a
single gene. One gene affiliated with Sarcoidosis is gene

Maya Angelou Literary Analysis
Literary works represent an important part of culture. Literary has many elements that serve as levers
that every literary work stands on. Settings compose the nucleus for literary works and depend on time
and place, which help to establish the background of the work. Plot, character, theme, and style also
compose fundamental components of settings. I ll discuss characters roles and presentation in three
different works, which are Jump and Other Stories by Nadine Gordminer, My Beautiful Laundrette by
Hanif Kureishi and I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou.

dance and drama at San Francisco s Labor School. Maya and her brother Baileyr were sent to live with
their grandmother Henderson who owned a general store, In Stamps, Arkansas after their parents
divorce, she had very hard time since childhood until adulthood. She experienced the bad treatment
racial discrimination. She was raped at the age of eight by her mother s boyfriend while on a visit to
St. Louis, but she refused to speak for approximately five years, she became a mother at age of
sixteen. Maya speaks in the first person as she recounts her childhood. She writes both from a child s
point of view and from her perspective as an adult. The book thus explores a wide range of timeless
topics: child abuse, race relations and a lot of important general issues of adolescence such as
awakening sexuality, tension between the children and their parents and friendship. Angelou basically
tells us the story of her search for her place in the world. The book inspires me and provides a roll

Organic And Non Organic Foods
When you or your parents visit the grocery store, which food products do you consider purchasing? It
is difficult not to notice the current trend of organic foods on the shelves at the supermarket. 1 The
word organic refers to the way farmers grow and process agricultural products (Mayo Clinic Staff, par.
3). Whether or not to purchase organic foods has been a subject of debate in recent years. Since in
today s society people are always in search for the healthiest foods available to nurture their bodies.
Although few people can tell the difference between organic and non organic foods, there are various
benefits and differences in terms of the nutritional value, physical appearance, cost, and farming
practices.
When deciding whether or not to buy organic items, one factor to consider is their nutritional value.
The general belief is that organic foods are healthier for you than non organic foods. 2 According to
the Professor Carlo Leifert at Newcastle University, Organic food has more of the antioxidant
compounds linked to better health than regular food, and lower levels of toxic metals and pesticides
(Carrington and Arnett, par. 3). 3 Organic produce typically carries fewer pesticide residues than non
organic produce (Mayo Clinic Staff, par. 15). Non organic crops also have higher levels of cadmium
and a toxic metals (Carrington and Arnett, par. 4). The animals used in the production of organic foods
continuously graze on grass, which increases the amounts of conjugated

Why Did Kitty Genovese s Neighbors Fail For Take Action...
On March 13, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed repeatedly while several neighbors
were vaguely aware of the unfolding events occurring outside. The lack of action on the neighbors
part led to Genovese dying shortly after. Why did Kitty Genovese s neighbors fail to take action
quickly?
The psychologists John Darley and Bibb Latané (1968) were interested in the Genovese incident and
sought to find the answer to this psychological phenomenon. In their experiment, Darley and Latané
hypothesized that the higher number of bystanders would decrease helping behavior and vice versa.
The two manipulated the number of confederates during each trial and recorded the time it took for the
participants to report the simulated seizure. Their results confirmed that if were more confederates,
each participant would feel less pressured to help, leading to the discovery of the bystander effect.
The bystander effect is defined as the higher the number of people who notice an emergency, the less
of a chance that those bystanders will help the victim (as cited in Aronson, Wilson, Akert, Sommers,
2015). The importance of the bystander effect is unparalleled because it determines whether humans
will still help in a situation when there are other people available. Bystanders can deal with situations
ranging from the mundane to the dire, but what matters is the number of those who take action.
Inspired by the Genovese case, my partner and I wanted to see if the Tufts community, which

Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance
Surveillance
One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but
what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a
French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original
physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One
example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600
as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault
believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary
surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct
and behavior are internalized by members of society.
Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance.
Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a
mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals
become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing
them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille.
Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that might not.
Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing

increased according to researches, that society is more accepting toward the LGBT community.
However, only 19% from the LGBT community says there is a lot of social acceptance in our current
world. Whereas a lot of the people from this group says they still have been rejected by their family
and been called by slurs or jokes. However, the media has been working a lot more into spreading the
message of the acceptance and equality amongst this discriminated community. Brands and medias

relying on drugs to do the work. His medical practices ties into his religions of Sufism and his study of

Choices with Regard to the Process of Consumption
Consumer choice refers to the decisions consumers make when considering the products and services
they want to purchase. Presently, in this post industrial society, many analysts believe that social strata
in many parts of the world have led to the emergence of consumer society (Smart, B 2014). Reasons
for this are because individuals are being portrayed as having a wide range of choice as they are being
presented with a wide range of products and services.
As Ellis at al. (2012) notes, privatization of production and distribution of goods and services have
expanded the way consumers can access them, and therefore, there are increased consumer choices.
However, there are arguments that in some cases, consumers have not been provided with adequate
positions to exercise their true choices on goods and services and therefore, which is leading them to
make passive choices in regards their process of consumption. Some arguments assert that consumers
are becoming more and more actively involved in their buying and consumption processes, especially
in this age when people are more enlightened.
Arguments for Active and Passive Consumption
The Concept of Number of Options

motivated when making choices individually. They refute the widely believed notion that people will

Analysis Of The Film Whale Rider
Throughout the film Whale Rider, many characters address the ancient custom that only males can
ascend to chiefdom in the Maori tribe. In the film, the culture and traditions are extremely important to
the Maori tribe, especially the elders. Koro is blind to the potential his granddaughter holds because he
holds onto the ancient traditions dearly. The movie Whale Rider deals with a hybrid culture, and some
characters have a harder time transitioning than others. In the film, the audience sees the biggest
struggle during this transition with one of the elders, Koro. Throughout the film Whale Rider, Koro
resists cultural change and this has a major impact on his life because he pushes his son and
granddaughter away and then tries to lead a traditional school that leaves Koro physically ill.
In the movie Whale Rider, Koro resists cultural changes and pushes away his son, Porokangi because
of it. He begins to do this when Porokangi was younger. Koro pushed his son to be the leader because
he is the first born male and it is a tradition in their family. Porokangi shows this while talking to
Paikea, he says, You know, your Koro, did the same thing to me. Implying that Koro believed so much
that he was going the new leader. Koro is now disappointed in Porokangi because he did not live up to
the standards that he set. Koro set the same standards for his grandson before he was born. Doing this
pushed Porourangi away further. In the hospital after Porokangi wife dies, Koro comes to the hospital
and walks in while his son is grieving the loss of his wife. Koro says nothing except, where s the boy?
This causes an argument with Porokangi and his father because all Koro wanted the boy to become the
leader. After this confrontation, Porokangi leaves for the first time and leaves his daughter with Koro.
When Porokangi comes back, Koro insults his work by saying, you call it work? It s not work. It s
souvenirs. Koro insults his work because he believes that Porokangi should be at home continuing the
traditions. This argument with Porokangi and Koro causes Porokangi to leave again, this time taking
Paikea with him.
Throughout the movie, Whale Rider Koro resists cultural changes and pushes away his granddaughter,
Paikea.

Doctor Faustus by Christopher Marlowe
What would you sell your soul for? A question Faustus had to ask when he wanted to gain more than
just knowledge. England during the 1550 s had gone through many changes with religion, leaving the
people unsure of what they wanted. When Elizabeth finally claimed throne and stayed Queen for a
forty five year reign, there were stable religious changes. For an escape and way of entertainment,
society would attend plays. Due to the changing events during the Elizabethan era, plays were a stress
reliever for the people such as the play Doctor Faustus; written by Christopher Marlowe who was also
dealing with his own religious problems symbolizing the life of Elizabethan times.
England had four different rulers take the throne within a twenty year span. Henry VIII ruled in 1509,
being well known for having married six wives and wanting to produce a male heir (Singman 1).
Henry wanted a divorce; he asked for the pope to help him and ended in rejection. Henry was angry
resulting in his passing of legislation that separated him from the Roman Catholic Church (Singman
1). After his third wife gave birth to Edward VI, she died. In 1547, after his father s death, Edward
took throne under age advised by guardians. He died before he came of age to rule on his own.
(Singman 2). The next oldest child was Mary, an extreme Catholic. She reunited England with the
Catholic Church; that soon changed after she died in 1558 after her short ruling (Singman 2). The
outcomes of her ruling were

effective way to help Managers and business owners update old processes and structures. (Hussain,

statues quo or equilibrium will change. ( Kaminski, 2011, Force Field Analysis). This theory helps
managers identify if a change is needed or not Unfreezing Phase The first step is to cause awareness or
an urgency. Hold a meeting and let employees/staff know that management is going to update
equipment and switch to electronic medical records. You can use a couple different ways to create this
urgency and dispel negativity. The first is benchmarking. According to Benson ,1995 Benchmarking is
a continuous process by which an organization can measure and compare its own processes with those
of organizations that are leaders in an area. You can use bench marking to explain how other doctor s
offices have started to use EMR and profits have doubled. Inform staff about the benefits of using
Electronic Medical Records. For example, EMR S will create space savings and will produce less
waste, it will improve diagnosis and treatment, it will also help to reduce errors. And finally, it will
help to increase productivity. Next open the floor to questions and ask employees/staff if they have
any concerns. Management should dispel any restraining forces. Address any concerns staff may have
and be sure the staff feels like their voices were heard. But don t spend too much time on addressing
concerns because this will be seen as weakness. It is important to keep the lines of communication
open and honest, which creates a sense of

The Financial Challenges Of Educational Debt
50% of all American s live each month paycheck to paycheck and 75% of American s are living with
debt, whether it s a mortgage, credit cards or medical bills. Debt is immune to racial, age and income
barriers and can affect anyone. On average these Americans have less than $1000 in their savings,
rather than the recommended 6 months worth of income saved up. If they are lucky, they barely have
enough income to cover the bills, unfortunately it is likely there is not even enough income for that.
Adults especially in their 20 s and 30 s are facing additional difficulties. They are seeing a different

Lacking sufficient income to pay down debts after monthly bills are taken care of, will lead to
unnecessary payments towards interest and fees. Increasing positive cash flow will help to decrease
and pay down debt balances, while focusing your money efficiently. Finally, abusing their credit and
ruining their credit score can lead to bad loans and high interest rates. Ceasing to accrue additional
debt and understanding one s credit score will allow one to quickly pay off debts, use credit wisely
and gain better interest rates. By using smart money management skills and increasing their financial
literacy, they can get rid of debilitating debt and gain financial freedom.
Attaining Financial Literacy
Money management skills are not part of the regular curriculum taught in schools, and as the
population ages, more and more American s are finding themselves deeper in debt. The younger
generations can no longer gain these skills at home, and they too struggle with the same financial
woes as their parents (Scheper, 2017). By increasing their financial literacy through self education,
they can gain these skills. An important tool that will help is to draw up a spending plan, or budget. A
budget is a plan that raises awareness of spending habits, and gives a roadmap that will help to reach

The Drunks come in wearing all sorts of different types of clothing, the guys wearing things ranging from tuxedos to halloween costumes and the girls usually wearing dresses and clothes that are dressing to impress . They can go on and on forever telling stories about their lives, but don t worry usually they are funny and upbeat adventures. • 4. Similarities Between Lord Of Flies And Lord Of The Flies Living a life without any adults giving orders or making rules, not having to listen to them tell everyone what to do or not to do sounds pretty marvelous. Many kids dream of living their own life without their parents or other adults telling them what to do, however, oftentimes, we see their plan backfire on themselves and they end up running to the parents, not knowing what to do. In the novel The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, there is a plane crash, involving a group of boys not much older than 12 years old. The plane crash takes place during World War II and the plane crashes onto an island, stranding the boys by themselves, without any information or adults. In the film adaptation of the novel The Mist by Stephen King, there is a mist that covers the town of Bridgton, trapping a group of adults in a grocery store. The mist, what many people consider an apocalypse, takes place during present times, in the state of Maine. [The novel The Lord of the Flies and the movie The Mist both portray human nature as essentially evil and savage, all the same loyalty plays a key part in influencing the decisions and actions of the characters of each story leading to some sections of resemblance and some sections of discrepancies. Both passive and active, religion plays a role in both stories, however while the same religious concept is in each story, there are many contrast between the novel and the film adaptation.] The most advanced stage of the human nature is called ... • 5. assata shakur Brandon Ross September 3, 2014 Africana Studies, SP12 Assata Shakur Paper Assata Shakur is a very strong and determined individual that refused to give up her beliefs and ideas to receive her freedom. When she was incarcerated, treated like an animal, beaten to a bloody pulp and lost all basic human rights, she only grew more stronger and determined. Shakur was a political prisoner and suffered because of her Black Panther Black Liberation Army affiliation. She spent six years in prison for crimes that she was not proven to have done or had any connection to. Most people would have given up and sold out to get their freedom back, she didn t because she simply took it back! Shakur s life changed dramatically on the night of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her time in the hospital became better as her body healed and the abuse from the officers stopped. A short time later Shakur was transported from the hospital to Middlesex County jail. It seemed like the middle of the night...A wheelchair was waiting for me. I figured they were taking me to jail said Shakur describing the experience. (Assata 45) Shakur s status as a political activist would affect her greatly in prison. The federal authorities wanted Shakur isolated from all the other prisoners because they did not want her to spread her radical ideas to any of the other prisoners which could possibly result in a revolt. Her cell was isolated from all the other prisoners and was patrolled by guards at all times. In prison, Shakur was subjected to the nihilistic ideas that she encountered on the outside. During this time blacks were treated as lower class citizens. Society wanted to keep African Americans in the same ghettos and isolate us from the nicer neighborhoods (domestic colonialism). They did this by racial profiling (Assata Shakur s arrest on the turnpike), police highly populating certain areas and raising prices to live in certain areas. These methods create a sense of self worthlessness inside of a person which often lead to crime. This trend often leads to African Americans being arrested and incarcerated. Once in prison, the system has now taken the little power that the person once had (the right to vote, speak etc.) The prisoner now ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Comparing Slaughterhouse Five And Full Metal Jacket Between Slaughterhouse Five, a novel written by Kurt Vonnegut, and Full Metal Jacket, a film directed by Stanley Kubrick, we can see many significant similarities in ideas and themes. Both of them have major ideas regarding brainwashing of war as well as acceptance which, in a sense, go hand in hand. However, since Full Metal Jacket follows Joker, the main character, he displays more ideas of compassion and humanity while Slaughterhouse Five follows Billy Pilgrim, the main character, he shows more of themes that reveal that time is cyclical and how everything ends up back at the beginning. Brainwashing is a significant part of every war and every soldier in every war; it is also a major theme in Slaughterhouse Five and Full Metal Jacket. In a scene where Joker is in a helicopter with a door gunner, the door gunner is shooting at Vietnamese farmers and civilians from a helicopter and says that Joker should write a story about him because he has got 157 dead gooks killed to which Joker responds by asking if he s killed any women or children and he says, sometimes. Then, Joker asks, how can you shoot women or children? and the gunner responds by saying, Easy! Ya just don t lead em so much! Ain t war hell? (Full Metal Jacket). As we can see, yes, war is definitely hell. The gunner has been so brainwashed by the drilling of war training that he feels nothing when shooting at innocent people from a helicopter, not even women and children. I am striving to create clothes which give paramount importance to the movement of the body. Jouve (1997) suggests that Miyake s approach differs to Western design arguing that he sees the body as a reed, a neutral flexible thing, in the tradition of the kimono. Yet Miyake suggests that the oversized and sculptural shapes have more to do with accessibility and the experience of the wearer: I want women to be able to wear my clothing in the kitchen, when they re pregnant...My clothes are for the young, the old, the short, the tall. They re ageless you see? (Frankel, 2001, p.48) Miyake basic philosophy can be traced to the traditions of the kimono and, Samurais, paper arts, the tea ceremony and Buddhist concepts. The kimonos simple construction makes it accessible to very social strata of Japan. Despite being boxy, it drapes the body loosely with plenty of space between the body and cloth, allowing freedom of movement with simplicity of cut. While traditional Japanese clothes have been made of natural fibres such as cotton, silk and paper, Miyake places emphasis on the ancient interest and import of industrially produced clothes with synthetic materials. He sees technology as a way to revive rather than replace tradition and craftsmanship. He comments that the joint power of technology and manual work enables us to revive the warmth of the human hand, in other words, to come close to the value inherent in artisanal work (Sato, 1998, p. 55). A Windows registry Autorun key was set to provide persistence. NTLHAFD.GCP was the backdoor and was encrypted with RC4 stream cipher and compressed using the Zlib library (GReAT, 2013a). Before executing the decryption and memory load routines, the loader, NTSVCHOST.EXE, first attempted to connect to legitimate Microsoft domains (update.microsoft.com, www.microsoft.com, and support.microsoft.com) to determine if the victim computer was able to route to the internet. If the infected computer was not online, the loader would not decrypt the backdoor, NTLHAFD.GCP. When online, the loader would execute the decryption and memory load routines, and the backdoor would communicate periodically with the designated Command and Control server. From an antivirus perspective, the backdoor that was on disk was encrypted, and the more nefarious code was only in its unencrypted form while in memory. In order to reverse engineer the malware, it required either connecting to the internet or tricking the malware into believing it was on the internet. Pathos in MLK Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail Pathos in MLK, Jr. s Letter from Birmingham Jail In his Letter, Martin Luther King Jr. s ability to effectively use pathos, or to appeal to the emotions of his audiences, is evident in a variety of places. More particularly in paragraph fourteen, King demonstrates his ability to inspire his fellow civil rights activists, invoke empathy in the hearts of white moderates, and create compassion in the minds of the eight clergyman to which the Letter is directed. King is pushing the people of the black community to act, to be involved in what will be their history with his words of inspiration and at the same time making it clear to them that the time to act is now. Like instruments in an orchestra being brought in one by one to a melody that fills the ears of its listeners and drives out any other thoughts, King then targets the white moderate population, the white voters. He tries to place this audience into the shoes of the black people by giving vivid descriptions of the trials they have been going through and invoke empathy in their hearts. He says: When you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at will and drown your brothers and sisters at whim . . . This statement brings up an issue every culture has had to deal with, death. Death in the American culture is one that is associated with loss and grief. King deftly imposes this loss on the shoulders of his white audience making it clear to them the pain the black people have been dealt. • 11. The Characters Being Dead In The Song Of Solomon Song of Solomon Questions 1. The characters being dead in the text can be related to their race and/or their gender. Milkman can be seen as dead because he has no purpose in life; he doesn t seem to know what being black means like the other characters in the text do, and he doesn t realize how him being a man affects the females in the text. Most of the women are dead because they are left behind or controlled by the men in the story. They do not take their lives for their own, so they do not have one; they can be considered dead. However, Pilate could break this trend because unlike the other females she takes her life for herself and controls it. Later on in the story, Guitar can be seen as dead even though it s not apart of his name. He lets his life be controlled by anger and hunger. Despite him justifying his actions with the Seven Days as justice, he does this based on anger and cannot answer Milkman s questions on the ethical view of it. He also seeks to take the life of Milkman when he suspects he s run off with the gold. 2. The song in the novel gives insight on the background knowledge that Milkman is looking for about his family. The events that the song describes can also be applied to Milkman and the people around him. Those who know the Song of Solomon do not question Solomon flying off and leaving behind everyone. They are also quick to put Ryna in a bad light, naming her after a ditch and saying she could not live without a man. This is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kamehameha was also the Hawaiian King, who unified the eight Hawaiian Islands. Mahatma Gandhi, the primary leader of India s independence movement against British rule. (biography.com Editors). Gandhi also worked to balance religious sects and classes. (Nanda, Britannica). Therefore, these men are very effective leaders because they were very intelligent with what they were doing, another reason that they were very effective leaders is they were hard working leaders that never gave up on their goal. Lastly, they were effective leaders because both of them were very determined, both did whatever they had to do in order for them to reach their goal. (Nanda, Britannica). Kamehameha and Gandhi were effective leaders because they both were intelligent and very determined people, which is why they were able to accomplish their goal. Kamehameha was an effective leader because he was intelligent and determined which was great for his people. He was intelligent because in order for him to know that he was making the right trade with foreigners he would have his foreign advisor John Young double check his trade. This would help ensure that Kamehameha wasn t wasting or spending their natural resources robustly with foreigners. (Potter, Kasdon, and Rayson 26). Kamehameha was an effective leader because of this since he chose Young to double check his trade because he was from a place that traded a lot. That meant that he has a lot of knowledge with trading, he also knows that there are people who take advantage of rookies, who are the Hawaiians, and that is what Young is trying to help prevent that from happening. Another reason why Kamehameha was an effective leader is because he was very determined, by doing whatever he had to do in order for him to reach his goal. Kamehameha was determined because he was willing to kill his relatives in order to become the Ali i of Hawai i. But, this helped him become a more effective leader because he proved that he would do anything it took to get what he wanted, which got him more supporters. The scene I want to focus on for the textual analysis is the scene in which the angel Cassiel attempts to comfort a suicidal man, but his attempts at comfort fail when the man jumps off of a building, causing Cassiel to descend into a spiral of grief and anger. The scene starts with a sound bridge between a shot of birds in flight and a shot of a man sitting on the edge of a building. The sound of the birds mixes with non diegetic music and the sound of the man s thoughts. The viewers can hear his thoughts, which is symbolized by his non diegetic stream of consciousness monologue. Then there are a few interlude shots of Peter Falk, before the montage, which is a maelstrom of quickly paced short shots. The short, confusing shots serve to disorient the viewer and put them in the same headspace as Cassiel, who is grieving, as well as to create symbolic meaning. In between the handheld shots that progress through the city, there are shots of people that are vulnerable or hurt. There is a shot of a woman lying on a staircase, a shot of a man on a bench, possibly an index pointing at him being homeless, a fighting couple, a child crying for his mother, and footage that seems to be from during the war, intercutting with shots of a bird s wings. Bird s wings are symbolically associated with angels, and these shots intercut with shots of war and destruction, linking the two together, the angel is the powerless witness of the war. The viewer understands the shots in the montage to be from the angel s point of view; he is the one who sees all that pain and carries the burden of comfort. Jump cuts are used as well throughout the montage, for example in the shot of the women in the staircase, further increasing the sense of frantic confusion, and an example of poetic rather than practical language, as the information is not delivered in a straightforward ... The hunt for power can oftentimes lead to different external and internal consequences, which can also depend on the person or environment. Shakespeare s Macbeth focuses on a character who eventually becomes obsessed with the pursuit of power, and trying to control the power that he already has. His power affects him and everyone around him. This act of trying to collect as much power as possible will ruin him, ultimately being his downfall. On March 13, 1964, a woman named Kitty Genovese was stabbed repeatedly while several neighbors were vaguely aware of the unfolding events occurring outside. The lack of action on the neighbors part led to Genovese dying shortly after. Why did Kitty Genovese s neighbors fail to take action quickly? The psychologists John Darley and Bibb Latané (1968) were interested in the Genovese incident and sought to find the answer to this psychological phenomenon. In their experiment, Darley and Latané hypothesized that the higher number of bystanders would decrease helping behavior and vice versa. The two manipulated the number of confederates during each trial and recorded the time it took for the participants to report the simulated seizure. Their results confirmed that if were more confederates, each participant would feel less pressured to help, leading to the discovery of the bystander effect. The bystander effect is defined as the higher the number of people who notice an emergency, the less of a chance that those bystanders will help the victim (as cited in Aronson, Wilson, Akert, Sommers, 2015). The importance of the bystander effect is unparalleled because it determines whether humans will still help in a situation when there are other people available. Bystanders can deal with situations ranging from the mundane to the dire, but what matters is the number of those who take action. • 26. Michel Foucault s Theory Of Surveillance Surveillance One of my former teachers, Michael Gedville, it s not what you do when people are watching, but what you do when others aren t watching. This quote reminds me about Michel Foucault, who was a French social theorist. He was a physiologist that had a different perspective than the original physiologist. Foucault would go astray from the normal path of thinking and try new ideas. One example is Foucault s perspective on societal surveillance. This emerged in the West after about 1600 as a means of reforming malefactors and shaping the actions of all members of society. Foucault believed surveillance emerged as a means to change human behavior, and many contemporary surveillance technologies reflect this larger social function of ensuring that the rules of proper conduct and behavior are internalized by members of society. Ruptures and discontinuity in the 1800s gave way to the development and need for surveillance. Author Michel Foucault addresses this when he explains the transition from physical punishment to a mental or soul punishment; this change happened because crimes started to change thus, criminals become smarter. Civil authority wanted to rehabilitate and prevent more criminals rather than killing them, therefore, the prison was born. With the birth of the prison lead to the birth of surveille. Surveillance is not only used to monitor those that committed a crime, but those that might not. Therefore, preventing crime in the first place and reducing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Choices with Regard to the Process of Consumption Consumer choice refers to the decisions consumers make when considering the products and services they want to purchase. Presently, in this post industrial society, many analysts believe that social strata in many parts of the world have led to the emergence of consumer society (Smart, B 2014). Reasons for this are because individuals are being portrayed as having a wide range of choice as they are being presented with a wide range of products and services. As Ellis at al. (2012) notes, privatization of production and distribution of goods and services have expanded the way consumers can access them, and therefore, there are increased consumer choices. However, there are arguments that in some cases, consumers have not been provided with adequate positions to exercise their true choices on goods and services and therefore, which is leading them to make passive choices in regards their process of consumption. Some arguments assert that consumers are becoming more and more actively involved in their buying and consumption processes, especially in this age when people are more enlightened. Arguments for Active and Passive Consumption The Concept of Number of Options Iyengar and Leper (2000) state, that current psychological theories confirm that individuals become motivated when making choices individually.
