Assess the Usefulness of Functionalist Approaches in...
Functionalists look at society as a whole. They explain crime and deviance by stating that the
source of deviance lies in the nature of society rather than the individual. Durkheim states that
crime and deviance is inevitable and a certain level is necessary for society to exist. He also
claims that it is a positive aspect of society as it shows examples of rights and wrongs within
society and by punishing offenders, through ways such as public humiliation and portraying crime
as wrong, raises awareness of crime and therefore deters others from committing crime along with
creating a collective conscience. He also argues that crime and deviance allows social change to
occur which is needed in order for society to remain stable. Durkheim s... Show more content on

He believes that the formation of the subcultures release the status frustration by creating their own
values for achieving status and therefore deviant behaviour becomes normal and valued within the
group. This is useful when looking at explanations of crime as it highlights that crime and
deviance is a collective rational response to the norms and values of society. However, Cohen fails
to consider why women in society commit crimes and form subcultures. He has also been criticised
as we cannot be sure that the working class know the middle class values enough in order to
purposely reject them. Furthermore, Cloward and Ohlin combine Merton and Cohen s theories by
stating that there is a legitimate opportunity such as passing exams and getting a job, and an
illegitimate opportunity, such as gangs. They believe that the working class have easier access to
the illegitimate structure meaning that it is easier for them to commit more crimes and so face
more pressure to do so. Cloward and Ohlin claim that there are 3 types of subcultures: criminal
subculture in which people climb the professional criminal hierarchy, conflict subculture in which
there is little/no social cohesion and retreatest subcultures in which people fail in both the legitimate
and illegitimate opportunity and retreat to things such as alcohol and drugs. This is useful when
looking at explanations of crime as it highlights the

Domestic Violence In Sports Essay
The issue I choose deals with professional athletes and the criminal justice system. Over the years
around the sport world there has been many cases of top professional athletes that have
committed or accused of crimes. Over half of results of those crimes sadly ended their career. My
favorite football player, former Dallas Cowboy star running back Ezekiel Elliott was accused of
domestic violencewhich almost stopped him from playing his rookie season. All over the league it
seems that professional athletes are more and more accused of domestic violence, but almost half
of the cases the victim wasn t convinced and were proven innocent. That s not the worse part even
though the victims were proven innocent half of those cases resulted in the... Show more content on

That is why I believe to fix this problem the criminal justice system has to go through the
prosecution with athletes step by step and maybe their trait should be longer because when it
comes to professional athletes a lot of thing can play a part. I also feel that they should check
medical records and their health issues because those things can play a major role in an athletes

Long Beach Bike Uptown Research Paper
As I prepare to begin my adult life after high school graduation, I plan to continue my education
at California State University, Long Beach and hope to graduate with a Bachelor s Degree in
Nursing. Spending my four years of high school in the AIMS program at Jordan has influenced
me to continue to pursue higher education. Getting the best education possible will allow me to
be able to give back to my community by providing affordable and valuable care to everyone. I
was given me the opportunity to volunteer at the Long Beach Veteran Affairs hospital and in the

It is extremely important for everyone to give back to their communities and I hope I can
inspire others to continue their own dreams of being successful. When I become a family
physician, I will be able to help many different people and advise them on how to live a healthy
life. As one of Jordan s valedictorians this year, I know how important school is and have always
worked diligently to get to where I am today. I am determined and will always continue to push
myself to achieve my goals. I never give up and am able to learn from my failures in order to grow
and succeed. I have always loved helping others and know that I will continue striving to provide
the best care possible wherever I work. I will continue working tirelessly when I am at CSU Long
Beach because I know college will be more challenging than high school, but I will not let that stop
me from being successful. I am going to try my best to graduate with honors because I know I
have the potential in me to accomplish that goal. Family is extremely important to me and I do
hope to someday get married and have a family of my own, but I know that can wait until after I

Psychological Effects Of War In The Sniper
Zombie or Death: The Physical and Psychological Effects of War
War does not only destroy countries, they destroy the minds and bodies of soldiers as well. War
can be a terrifying experience that can affect everyone. Soldiers are leaving their families, with the
chance of not coming back, friends are turning against each other and innocent human beings are
getting killed. Soldiers came back from war in a dehumanized state because of what they have
witnessed and gone through. Liam O Flaherty, author of, The Sniper, chose to have an Irish sniper
up against another sniper with the same skills, they fought throughout the night in a rather
dangerous setting, causing them to be at risk of death or at the risk of losing their minds. In the short
story, The Sniper, the author reveals the devastating consequences of war through the physical and
psychological effects that the soldier suffers.
By illustrating the sniper s injuries, near death experiences, and the careless decisions he took,
the author reveals how dangerous war can be physically. Additionally, O Flaherty displays the
horrid physical harm of war by describing the sniper s injured arm in a disturbing way. The sniper
s ...forearm was dead, with ...blood...oozing through his sleeve... the ...bullet had lodged in the
bone, and his ...arm bent back easily. The blood that is oozing through his sleeve can cause loss of
blood, meaning that he may become dizzy, tired, and short of breath, this can affect the sniper s

The Inspired Kantian Non Formalism Analysis
Chapter Four
The Inspired Kantian Non Formalism
The interpretation of Kant as a moral formalist or constructivist precisely, has been dominant in
much of the recent secondary literature on Kant in English speaking world, for Silber, Rawls and
O Neill we analyzed. Those interpretations have lately come under sustained philosophical attack
by the defenders of a non moral formalist or realist interpretation of Kant. We have mentioned at
the outset, the essential division for formalist and non formalist is in their understanding C1 as a
formal accomplishment or not. So far we have seen the formalist holds out for the preeminence of
universalzation in the hierarchy of principles, i.e. the buttressing rules Rawls or O Neill posed.
Now we are to see how ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept of moral law springs from pure reason or reason that exists separate from empirical
considerations. Since pure reason is able to be relevant to material action, we see a conceptual
bridge is constructed in the form of the maxim, to the degree that it is tested in accordance to
prescriptive law, a determinate rule of action. This determination, it must be stressed, is voluntary
and subjectively constructed, while the basis of the analysis, this intend to act from duty, is based
on an understanding of moral law.
Hence, Dietrichson points out a non formal approach to explain Kant, it is non formal because it
raises the humanity the material for Kant to guide action. Precisely, because the pure reason enables
us to grasp the moral law, we are striking to fulfill the requirement to act from duty as it constitutes
purity of our humanity. Dietrichson did not see the formula of moral law as formal accomplishment
that reason alone could indentify moral law, but it must have non formal

The Importance Of Energy
Energy is a crucial necessity in life for humans and wildlife. Quality of life is dependent on our
accessibility of energy. The environmental crisis has been felt by everyone in some way. The need
for energy continues to increase as the population grows. Relying on past resources for energy will
continue to torment the environment and negatively impact the level of supply. Energy is a
resource that can be depleted if the abuse continues. Pollution from energy sources has caused the
environment to deteriorate. The negative influences from energy sources has caused health
problems, loss of wildlife and abuse of other resources. In order to protect public health and the
future of the environment, preventable measures must be taken.
Energy is used for everything we do in life. The two types of energy sources are renewable and
nonrenewable. Nonrenewable energy is a source that cannot be used again because it does not
renew itself. Renewable energy is a source that can be used again because it can be replenished.
There are different sources available for each type of energy. Each resource has its own advantages
and disadvantages. Each source has economic and ecological impacts that need to be evaluated.
More than 80% of energy in the US comes from fossil fuels (Eia). Fossil fuel is the world s primary
energy source (Eia). Fossil fuels are used for transportation, heating and electricity. Natural gas is
used for electricity and heating homes and buildings. Coal is used to generate

Examples Of A Christian Worldview As A Student
The Christian Worldview as a Student
Christian worldview opens the doors to the mind of students and cultures from all around the
world. In this course, topics from who is God or what is the reality of human nature is gone

worldview presented, not persuade or to change their views but to give a chance to develop their
individual views while searching for the reasons for their worldview. From the individual
experiences to the personal traditions and faith in life can change how someone views the world.

It starts with God and Adam and Eve, as that relationship fails, God set up a covenant with His
people of Israel. The people of Israel fail short of keeping the covenant with God, and He sent His
son as the final sacrifices for sin, then giving us his Holy Spirit to guide us. God is the creator of
all; He is love, and He desires a relationship with His people.
From God s creation of man to the idea of humanity in this world is revealed by God s living
word. When God created man in His image, He revealed how important it is for us to be in a
relationship with Him, and by placing Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden it shows that
humanity is to live over the domain of earth, caring for and ruling over everything. By the fall of
humanity from God, there has been a separation from the divine creator and His creation.
Humans no longer are born pure in heart and mind but or born to the desires of the flesh. No
longer seeking a divine relationship, but seeking the sinful nature of the flesh. God placing
humanity over the earth; to be fruitful and multiply, and to spread over the surface of the world,
as believers of God humanity is designed to spread the word of God and to worship and praise Him

ever, no longer needing a sacrifice for the sins of humans, only needing to believe in Jesus Christ
as the savior. From the fall of

extremely helpful to understand the basics about HIE records. I feel that the whole thing had all

I also like the fact that if for whatever reason I felt that I did not want some information to be
accessible, I can opt out there and then they cannot access that information. Overall, I feel that
HIE is a safe and helpful program that I would want my information in. Some data that might be
considered sensitive is maybe if one had an illness that almost cost them their life or an injury or
an accident or the death of a loved one due to illness. I do feel that this data should be shared
differently. I feel like this type of data should have its own set of opt in and opt out system because
this is data that could be very sensitive to a patient and should be treated with care. Although this
data can be helpful in diagnosing problems or treatments, I feel that they should not be talked about
casually if they are talked about, they should be spoken of with just the doctor and the patient and
whomever else the patient wishes to hear the sensitive data and that is it. As long as this data is
handled with care and not taken lightly, it will not be a problem. The relationship between
standards is that they are rules or guidelines that help in keeping the information safe. According to

Essay On African Americans Should Have Access To Healthy Food
Food is life. It is necessity and pleasure, family and community, culture and power. Food is what
lets us take a break during the day, and most importantly, healthy food gets us ready and energized
for the busy day ahead. However, many Americans do not have access to healthy foods. Many low
income communities in the inner cities do not have access to healthy foods. Many of these
communities live more than a mile away from a supermarket and transportation is often
unavailable. Even when transportation is available, or one lives close to a supermarket, purchasing
healthy foodand fresh produce can be very expensive. Many people end up buying unhealthy food
products from their local corner stores, which can t afford to stock healthy fruits and vegetables
like large grocery stores. Lack of access to healthy food is a race issue. Disproportionate access to
healthy foods between whites and African Americans is extremely common. The data shows that
African Americans have greater healthissues and limited access to healthy food. Obesity rates are

Learning And Development Processes Of A Child
The learning and development processes of a child have been debated for years, with no one theory
sticking out as the best explanation as to how and why we learn. Looking at the behaviourist and
humanist views of learning and development and the key theorists within them, you can see just
how different they can be with their explanations of this.
The key behaviourist views on learning are that learning is shaped by different incentives
presented to the child. External stimulus shapes learning, as it prompts a response and increases
the likelihood of the learner repeating the behaviour. Behaviourists believe development happens
as a process of learning and that it has nothing to do with pre determined stages relating to a child
s age and or mental ability. The behaviourist view works on a mix of operant and classical
conditioning, operant conditioning is a process of learning where behaviour is controlled by
consequences such as positive and negative reinforcements and positive and negative punishments.
Classical conditioning is when the learner simply responds to external stimuli in a deterministic
manner (Jordan, Carlile, and Stack, 2008).
Pavlov, a behaviourist, looked deeply into the idea of classical conditioning and involuntary
responses to stimuli. Pavlov looked at the responses of dogs and found that when the dog was
presented with food the dog would salivate, which would be an unconditional response. But, when
combined with the ringing of a bell as the food was

Social Media Reflection
Social media is a medium in which people post about whatever they deem necessary. According
to Sherry Turkle s book Alone Together, a vast majority of teens also use it to create a name for
themselves and to pretend to be someone else; someone they want to be. However, in analyzing
my social media, it was very difficult to find any trace of what kind of character I was
attempting to portray. One similarity that I can see between Turkle s analysis of social media
and my personal account is that my account does portray a type of person that I aspire to be.
Online, I am in some unconscious way making a name for myself, but the problem arises when
there are no differences between my social media self and my real self. Online I portray myself
as a chill, relaxed person and my Facebook reflects that very well. I am not here to impress
anybody and I do not share anything for any other reason besides the fact that I enjoyed that thing. I
postwhen I feel I need to yet looking deeper into my likes and shares there are some small,
significant patterns between what I like and how it affects my image. Analyzing my social
media account, I found that I generally use a calm, realistic tone to give the impression that I am
a real relaxed, dust in the wind kind of guy. I don t care to change my profile picture and haven t
changed it since 8th grade. Even most of what I like and/or share has no specific agenda, it s just
simply what I find interesting or funny. On top of that, I haven t even shared anything in about
ten months and the only things I like are things that my family shares with me or tags me in. I
have not physically posted an update of my life or anything in five years only because I don t
feel the need to. For example, the last text post that I made was on my birthday in 2013, when I
thanked everyone who wished me a happy birthday. Even reading through my recent shares, I ve
come to realize that I do not intend to portray myself in any different way other than what I am.
The last thing that I shared was a video of a cat I thoughtmy sister would find amusing (which she
did). On Facebook, I give off the impression that I am a very laid back person and that is truly
how I act. Just looking at my activity, it

Mary Stuart Biography
The Stuarts were not considered royalty until Walter the Great Stuart married Marjorie Bruce,

The Effects Of Leptin On Other Human Obese Gene Located On...
Leptin is a protein containing 166 amino acids and is the product of human obese gene located on
chromosome 7q31.3. Leptin is produced mainly by adipose tissue. It is also synthesized in small
amounts in other human tissues such as the stomach, heart, mammary epithelium , placenta,
ovaries, skeletal muscle, pituitary, and liver (Muoio et al., 2002).
After leptin is secreted by the adipose tissue, it enters the brain through the bloodstream. Gastric
leptin may also reach hypothalamus through the vagal nerve and nucleus solitarius. Effects of leptin
on various systems have been reported, including reproduction, immune system, hematopoesis,
angiogenesis, bone formation and wound healing. It plays an important role in energy balance by
inhibiting energy intake contrary to ghrelin, and by regulating body weight and energy homeostasis
(Moran Phillip, 2003).
The expression of leptin by adipose tissue is also influenced by feeding behaviour. Short term (12
h) or long term (2 or 8 weeks) overfeeding results in an increase in adipocyte leptin expression and
circulating leptin in healthy human subjects. Furthermore, circulating leptin levels show a diurnal
pattern and are influenced by gender, age, exercise and glucose uptake (Table 3).

The North American and European railway systems is freight transportation systems I will be

show that the share of fixed costs in the overall transportation cost is much high in Europe versus
North America. When transporting freight by railway in North America, rail companies look for
the shortest route for each train car while European rail companies devote their focus to the high
utilization and consolidation in each train car. The capacity of each train and how the cost is

There are still many challenges that are hindering the future development in globalized trade.
Environmental issues, energy demands and issues in the supply chain field are just a few of these
challenges. An example of the energy issue would be the ongoing fluctuations in energy costs.
Freight and air transportation both depend on petroleum. Typically, the times of higher energy
prices creates a rationalization in the international trade market and the underlying supply chains.
Many the global policies and guidelines in the European Union rest within each member s state.
Due to this, the effectiveness of the European Union guidance relies on the willingness of member
states to adopt the policy. One of the greatest outcomes of the European Union applying and

Donald Trump And Race Relations
With Donald Trump s ascension to the presidency months ago, he inherited a nation divided on
many issues, including race relations. Thus, a question is raised: How has President Trump
worked to address the issue of race relations in the United States? He has promised to do
everything he could to help race relations improve and unify the country, as demonstrated by the
quote: Today and every day of my presidency I pledge to do everything I can to continue that
promise of freedom for African Americans and for every American...We re going to bring this
country together (Cottman, 2017). Unfortunately, it does not seem likely that race relations will
improve so as long as Trump remains president. The facts below will prove that Trump has
worsened race relations in America, and deepened the justifiable fear of division which many
Americans feel. Such a conclusion can be clearly made through the observation of his past and
present conduct.
Trump promised on the campaign trail to dramatically improve the lives of African Americans,
saying Every African Americancitizen in this country is entitled to a government that puts their
jobs, wages and security first. ... Here is the promise that I make to you: Whether you vote for me
or not, I will be your greatest champion (Swerdlick, 2017). Though Trump seems sincere in the
quote, how is his relationship with African Americans? Notwithstanding his claim to have a great
relationship with the blacks (Westover, 2016), Trump s past record

The Sheep Revolution in John UpdikeВґs A P
At first glance, A P written by John Updike, looks like a funny, slangy, youthful story about a
young, nineteen year old boy, Sammy, who has the normal problems that come along with his age
group; abhorrence for his job, talking despondently about the older generation, and dreaming
about girls he sees in the store. However, when people look at the history of the 1960 s, they find
it shows a change in American social values and morals. Furthermore, the revolution of multiple
groups of minorities through the civil rights movement, such as women, gays, and African
Americans just to name a few who were at the forefront of issues during the 1960 s. Also, there
was a revolt caused from the distrust of politicians, and from the 1950 s family... Show more content

One of the biggest social groups that had some of the major impacts during the 1960 s were the
youths in America, consisting of late teens to the late twenties. However, others that fell into
that age group had already cemented their future with earlier choices in their lives. For example,
the checker that worked next to Sammy, his name was Stokesie, a young twenty two year old
who was already married with two children. Stokesie also holds the belief that he will become
store manager someday, which fit the mold of the start from the bottom and only with hard
work can one move up style of the out dated ideologies of the past decade. Stokesie represents
everything from the 1950 s suburbiaism that the youth revolution of the 1960 s was against.
Many have argued that this story has a feminist undertone to the main idea. Conceding, that
going into public is a bit bold, especially for the time period shows somewhat of a revolt by the
girls. Although, someone can contend that if a girl or girls went into a grocery store in a bikini
during today s time, it would result in the same sort of reaction. One can also argue that the story
is condescending toward women and shows them in a negative light. Especially, from the main
character Sammy, with his description of the girls, also the nick names he gives the three girls like
Plaid, Big Tall Goony Goony, and Queenie. Moreover, the assumptions about how a girls

The film Falling Down Essays
The film Falling Down
Falling Down is a film about a man who we know very little about (at the start) apparently trying
to get home to see his family, it is his little girls birthday.
The film opens with the camera coming out of his mouth and showing his face then the rest of
his body, you notice that he is wearing a white shirt and tie. It then moves around the scene
showing you that he is very hot and stuck in a traffic jam, it shows the people in the cars around
him, and his reactions to these people. One of the more striking reactions is to a group of black
kids in a bus with an American flag on the side. The camera moves around the scene more and

The comment about the prices in 1965 tells us that this man has obviously not been in mainstream
culture for a long time and by protesting about the prices to the shopkeeper is showing that he has
a very bad temper. Maybe he feels that America was a better place back in those days, this relates
back to the expression he had to the black students in the bus back then neither of these things
would be (that and the Korean shopkeeper). The fact that he smashes up the shop protesting to the
prices helps the reader to relate to the character, how many times have you wanted to do that?

Yellow Face Play Summary
This paper is a critique of the adaptation of David Henry Hwang s Yellow Face, a semi
autobiographical play, adapted and directed by Jeff Liu. This play was produced by the
YOMYOMF Network and was performed through the video sharing website Youtube. The plotline
follows the misadventures of an Asian American playwright named David Henry Hwang, the
protagonist of the playwho is played by Ryan Yu. Throughout the play, Yu s character leads a
protest against yellow face casting which only ends up in failure and embarrassment.
Furthermore, he ends up mistakenly cast a white actor, Marcus G. Dahlman who is played by
Christian Gorham, in an Asian role in his own play named Face Value. Whilst Yu s excelled in his
portrayal of his role by effectively... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was able to accomplish this task by continuously displaying his professional skills as an actor
with correctly using his voice, adjustable facial expressions, and great articulation. For example,
in Act II, Yu wanted to display disdain toward Gorham s character comment about the Chinese
community and he achieved this by using a booming, assertive voice. Moreover, in this scene
he also used exaggerated gestures by swinging his arms and twisting his hands. In relation to
facial expressions, Yu strayed away from revealing dull, long face by endlessly using adaptive,
cheeky facials instead. In particular, during Act I, Yu was having a conversation with his father
and was getting confused by his father s statements. He demonstrated his bewilderment by using
a quizzical, baffled facial expression with inquiring eyes and slightly opening his mouth which
begged his father to clarify himself. Additionally, Yu was discussing in the park with Karla
Chang, who was performed by Linda Park and was Yu s character s old love interest, about her
boyfriend finally being caught as a fake Asian. Likewise, he constantly slammed his hands in an
aggressive manner on the bench and strolled across the area with long strides in order to illustrate
his satisfaction about her current situation. Towards the end of the play, when Yu is describing his
relationship with his father he is perceived to be nervous and this can be seen through his rapid
pace of speaking and his speedy walking back and

Differing Opinions on the Controversial Death Penalty...
The issue of capital punishment is one that has been in discussion for many years. How can anyone
control the life of another human being? The accused may have taken the life of another citizen but
what gives anyone the right to take his. This is the main point of the question but it gets vastly
more complicated as the issue is further investigated. For instance, the psychopath who goes on a
murderous rampage might have an abnormality with the frontal lobe of the cortex in his brain.
Now, if this is the case this person may not be able to control his murderous impulses. So, should
this person be punished, and not only should he or she be punished but should the punishment be
done for retribution? After all, most punishment is based... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course there is the old argument that capital punishment legalizes killing. This holds no ground.
The person who committed a crime deserves to be punished. But, which punishment is worse, life in
prison or death? The criminal sentenced to death most likely suffers more waiting for his death
sentence to be carried out than did the person he murdered. Although this it not positively known.
The next part of this discussion will be carried out by Christopher W. Morris. One must first
understand what justice is compared to benevolence. The standard distinction is to understand
justice to pertain to what individuals are owed, to what they may claim, to what they have a
right. (Morris, 273) Benevolence is concerned with the well being of the accused. Justice is the
more important of these two issues. A moral object is that which is receiving the moral
consideration and to achieve moral standing is to be owed moral consideration, hence be a direct
moral object. Having moral standing is a relation; something has moral standing in its relation to
some other entity(ies). (Morris, 274) Criminals forfeit their moral standing in civilization. They do
pay the same moral consideration to others so the moral consideration to them should be lost. The
accused did not respect this social contract and so this should not be respected upon them. The last
part of this discussion will be

Sears Kmart Merger Essay
Due to slow sales and less traffic at both Sears and Kmart, the two have decided to merge
creating one entity named Sears Holdings. Kmart has agreed to buy Sears for $11 Billion. This
puts Sears Holdings at the third largest retailer behind Wal Mart and Home Depot. Although Wal
Mart is a direct competitor with Kmart, Sears Holdings goal is not to compete with Wal Mart
directly, but find areas that have been overlooked by other retailers, and take advantage of the
expanded line of products the new company has to offer. Sears has had higher sales than Kmart, so

Changing some Kmart stores to Sears stores and bringing home appliances to Kmart, would offer
customers shopping for those products with more locations to choose from. As a customer, this
merger brings a wider array of products to more locations, making it easier to get everything you
might need in one place. The merger of these two corporations would create more jobs.
Sears is looking to create more of a presence outside of shopping malls, creating more Sears
locations in single store setups in a similar way to Kmart. Current CEO of Sears Alan J. Lacy,
will become the Vice Chairman of the new company. His strategy of opening more Sears stores
outside of the usual shopping mall would require many of the current Sears locations to be
closed. In the long run jobs at new Sears locations would have to be filled, but the creation of
those new jobs would have to be postponed until the new Sears stores are opened. In the meantime,
the news of many Sears closings would put many workers out of a job.
Currently Kmart has been constantly losing to competitors such as Wal Mart and Target. Target
is seen as a higher class store compared to the other two, and Wal Mart is seen as a good store
with good prices. Kmart has had trouble finding it s own identity. They try to market themselves as
being a better bargain than Wal Mart, but the store is viewed as being cheap from the customer s
point of view. Kmart tried to fix that, by bringing in the Martha Stewart line. They

The Success Of College Sports
Title In the past few decades college sports have grown immensely in popularity nationwide,
especially when the bigger events such as March Madness and the College Football National
Championship arise. Even though the NCAA considers themselves to be a non profit
organization, March Madness is such a huge event that in 2011 the NCAA made an agreement
with CBS Sports and Turner Broadcasting System to let them broadcast the games until 2024
for $10.8 billion, but during March Madness they make almost $800 million every year from
jersey, ticket, and product sales ( Revenue ). Depending on how far some of the colleges go
these universities could make an extra few million also. None of the money the colleges or the
association makes is given to the student athletes. They are the ones that work so hard to help
bring in all of the revenue for their schools and the NCAA but get nothing in return. Besides
bringing in revenue for their school if they prove that they are a good collegiate school it will
make high school students look further into their school and potentially attend that university.
According to the NCAA for any student athlete to be eligible and still be considered amateur
they are not allowed to receive salary for participating in any athletic program nor are they
allowed to be given prize money above necessary expenses, ( Amateurism ) However a common
view is that college athletes should not be paid because most of them already receive a free

Civil Rights Debate
Two years before the long and hard fought senate debate on the Civil Rights Act of 1964, on the
100th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, President John F. Kennedy declared,
Abraham Lincoln emancipated the slaves, but in this century, our Negro citizens have emancipated
themselves 1. With this simple statement President John F. Kennedy addressed one of the oldest
and most current issues of our nation, the blatant line between the Caucasian population and the
other minorities that reside in the United Statesof America. The racial divide in America has
existed long before the beginning of America s struggle for independence and persists today as
demonstrated recent events such as the building of the wall on the United States/Mexico border.
Though it hasn t always provided the anguished minorities with chains, shackles, and whips there
has been a copious amount of major periods of time in which there was a great division and sense
of hostility throughout the nation. One of the most significant times is the Civil Rights Movement

The Impact Of Modern Public Sphere On The Middle East
During the 19th century the Middle East found themselves with a problem of establishing an
identity or nationalism. Through defensive developmentalism the Middle East had sought to
counter the imperialistic approach of the West, yet still begin to modernize their land. The world
was developing rapidly and the Middle Eastwanted to ensure that they did not fall behind.
However, the approach backfired and the Middle East found themselves struggling to establish their
own modern identity and falling victim to becoming more like the Europeans. Many new ideas and
new movements developed through Middle Easterners, some wanted to modernize and began to
fuse European and Arabic tradition, while others wanted to re establish Islamic tradition. Most
detrimental to these new ideas and movements was the emergence of the modern public sphere. The
modern public sphere flowed into all aspects of these new movements and had many effects on the
Middle East. In essence, this idea of modernization would combine with the imperialism of
European thoughts, as well as components of the industrial revolution and would lay the foundation
for the fusing of the Europeans with Islamic traditions.
When the Ottoman government decided to institute the Ottoman Law Code of 1858, they did more
than enable people to more land. It was an action that would create a new social class in the
Middle East. With this new law, people begun to acquire new land. Although, over time large land
estates would be bought

The Portrayal Analysis Of Martin Luther King Jr.
In the wake of the Civil Rights Era, many people in the United States were fighting for the end of
segregation. There was one man in particular who was going above and beyond to bring about
change: Martin Luther King Jr. He fought continuously for rights of African Americans even when
he was, secluded from the world, in jail. One particular time, he was arrested for protesting the
rights of African Americans in Birmingham, Alabama. Once in jail, he received criticism for his
works by fellow clergymen regarding his unwise and untimely actions (King Jr.). To combat the
comments made about him, King wrote a letter in response. He starts by giving the four basic steps

First, an apostle is defined as each of the twelve chief disciples of Jesus Christ (Apostle). They
carried the message that Jesus preached to them out into the world. So, Paul and the other
prophet s jobs were to leave their villages and go spread the gospel throughout neighboring cities
of Jesus Christ. King also references a specific instance where Paul experiences a vision. In Acts
16:6 10, Paul has a vision of a man in Macedonian that is calling for him to come and help the
people there (Acts 16). The next day, Paul heads to a major city in the region to begin serving
the people (Acts 16). This is the first Biblical reference found in the letter that King uses in
supporting his points. Martin Luther King Jr. uses Paul s story to show the commonalities
between each other and their actions. He states, like Paul, I must constantly respond to the
Macedonian call for aid (King Jr.). This is a powerful analogy where King shows his feelings of
constantly being called to go out and serve others in need (King Jr.). He feels that until equality
is granted to everyone, there will be a need for him to go and serve. To King, this is a feeling of
being compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond [his] particular hometown (qtd Aeschliman).
Specifically, he is showing that he is in Birmingham because of this calling to take action against
the injustice. King shows that Paul

Though overweight and an excess of regional adipose tissue are considered major risk factors for

He thought that if other parts of the government could not stop, or support something, it would
be really easy for leaders, and government officials to get out of control. He devised a layout so
that this would not be a problem. He wanted one branch to make laws, one branch to interpret
laws, and one to enforce them. This would make a single law go through three stages of people,
before it actually became one. This also meant, that if a law was too biased, or had many disliked
qualities, people could stop the process of it becoming law, preventing people from big problems in
the governments. Over time, more, and more people supported his ideas, they praised him, and it
made him famous for it. With the staggering efficiency of the governmental ideas created by
Montesquieu, people wanted their government just like that, and for the U.S.A, it became a reality.
This was due to the inefficiency, and possible corruptness of their governments that they had had.
One of the most popular countries, around the globe, the United States of America has their
government built upon these same ideas. The US government also has three branches, with some
power over one another. It is the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial branches. The Executive
Branch is run by the president, and is where laws are finalized. This is also where laws are

An individual s taste sensitivity is influenced by many aspects such as gender, age and social habits
like smoking. To investigate what could have an impact on an individual s taste ability, psychology
students conducted an experiment on 595 non diabetic participants. In the experiment, participants
were asked to taste 8 different water sugar solutions with different sugar strength, then were asked
to state whether the solution had sugar in it or not. As hypothesised, female participants were more
able to detect the sugar in the solution than male participants, also, non smokers were able to get a
higher hit rate than smokers. These findings suggest that the sense of taste is affected by each
individual s gender and whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To test the hypothesis that taste sensitivity varies from an individual to another, and to detect the
absolute threshold of sugar dissolved in water through the perception of taste, this experiment was
conducted. Participants in the experiment tasted water sugar solution with different strength and
were asked to state if the liquid they were given had sugar in it or not. To get more accurate
results, the participants were not told if all the different liquids had sugar in them or if the sugar
amount varies in each solution. As the selectivity theory predicts, when an individual ages, their
sense of taste should considerably decrease. Also, I predict that the taste sensitivity in non smokers
should be higher than in smokers, as well as higher in females than in males.
Method
Participants The participants were chosen at random by the researchers who are Massey
university psychology students. The researchers were asked to conduct the experiment on two
participants who are over the age of 11 and not diabetic. The total of participants was 595,
including 326 females and 269 males. The mean age of the participants was 35.63 with female
mean age of 36.71 and male mean age of 34.31. The conductors were advised to find smokers for
half the participants if possible; so 202 of the participants were smokers and 393 were non
smokers. Participants fully understood what was expected of them before they took a part of the
experiment.

Weather The Migration Hypothesis
The reading and the lecture discuss weather the migration hypothesis is true for the edomontosaurs
the elephant like dinosaurs to prove the North Slope as their habitat. The lecturer puts forth three
aspects, each of which has casts doubt on the three points presented in the reading passage. To begin
with, the professor avers that at the time of the edomontosaurs the temperature in the North slopes
was warmer than ours. She says that the warmer temperature helps to have good vegetation in
summer. Even the dead plants were enough to feed the edomontosaurs in the North slopes during
winter. Thus the edomontosaurs did not need to migrate to south the warm place. This directly
challenges the reading assertion that the food requirement for the

Saplings In The Storm And Barbie-Q
In today s generation no matter what gender a person is, they have expectations of society to act
like either a women or man . Back in the day when our parents were growing up it wasn t the
same social standers. Girls didn t have to deal with such high expectations. Adults usually can t
relate to our situation. In the two essays, Mary Piper s, Saplings in the Storm and Sandra
Cisneros Barbie Q , gave a better perspective of girls going through adolescents. During this stage
in their life they have to deal with social norms, which pressures girls to compare themselves to
others and strive to be an unrealistic model of femininity. This emotional battle to blend in leads to

They have a hard time finding who they are as a person. Adolescence is a period of time where kids
are putting into circumstance that are hard to understand until they go through them hardship
themselves. In Saplings in the Storm girls were analyzed to give better understanding of girl s
emotion when they are going through adolescence. Stated in the article, In early adolescence,
studies show that girls IQ scores drop and their resiliency and optimism and become less curious
and inclined to take risks. They lose their assertive, energetic and tomboyish personalities and
come more deferential, self critical and depressed (19). Girls try to fit the social stands of being a
girl and in the end they bring themselves down mentally. Adults don t understand the social stand
because they aren t completely the same anymore. In today s society girls have to grow up so fast.
Girls start wearing makeup at a young age, start wearing scandalize clothes, and have sexual
encounters early. Having to go through all these mild stones may make it hard to be themselves and

Everest Persuasive Speech
The courage of the daring climber that attemps to conquer Everest exceeds most. He or she seeks to
surmount one of Mother Nature s most menacing obstacles. For many years, thousands of people
have attempted to tame Everest. While a select few climbers make it to the peak, many end up not
making it, sometimes with catastophic results. In my opinion, despite their obvious awareness of
the risks involved, mountaineers should have the freedom to climb Mount Everestif they desire and
shouldn t be blocked off from the mountain.
In Source #1, the third paragraph explains how The human spirit is a questing force, determined to
conquer heights, depths, and remote unknowns. This quote shows how climbing Everest is a part of
the human drive to rise

According to the Society of Public Health Education website, the code of ethics is based on
fundamental ethical principles that underlie all health care services: respect for autonomy,
promotion of social justice, active promotion of good, and avoidance of harm (SOPHE, 2010).
These code of ethics should be applied in the health professions or they could face consequences.
There are few differences with the SOPHE and NCHEC code of ethics. The NCHEC code of ethics
has a preamble section before the article section which explains what health professionals should
follow. SOPHE does not have a preamble section on its code of ethics. SOPHE and NCHEC code

The Cheyenne Tribes Of The Native American Indians
The Cheyenne was one of the most famous tribes of the Native American Indians. They lived on the
Great Plains in what is now South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. During the
1800 s, the U.S. government forced the Cheyennes to move to Oklahoma. Today, there are two
Cheyenne tribes. The Southern Cheyennelive in Oklahoma while the Northern Cheyenne settle in
Montana.
The Cheyenne had an interesting culture and way of life. Boys were taught how to hunt, fish,
and fight from their fathers. Girls learned how to cook, clean, and do chores around the house.
Also, the children went to school and played with dolls, toys, and games. For example, the
Cheyenne kids enjoyed playing the hoop game and lacrosse. A Cheyenne woman was
responsible for building her family s house. She dragged heavy posts with her whenever the
tribe moved. Later on, the Cheyenne Indians killed buffalo so they could use buffalo hide to
make teepees. They lived in teepees because it was easy to set up and take down. As a result of
moving frequently, a teepee allowed the Cheyenne tribe to move within an hour. The Cheyenne
women harvested corn, squash, and beans while the men hunted deer and buffalo. Also, they ate
fish, fruit, and berries. For clothing, the Cheyenne women wore long deerskin dresses that were
decorated with porcupine quills, shells, and elk teeth. Cheyenne men wore breechcloths with
leather leggings in colder climates. Men wore moccasins while the women wore high fringed
boots. Chief leaders had tall feather headdresses and long warbonnets. The hair style for men was
long braids with a topknot and women wore their hair loose or braided. The Cheyennes painted
their faces for war, religious ceremonies, and feasts. Lastly, the Cheyenne people were very
religious. They performed an elaborate Sun Dance, smoked peace pipes, built ceremonial houses,
and four arrows represented their sacred object.
The tribal government of the Cheyenne Indians was called the Council of Forty Four. It was
formed by ten bands of the tribe. The council was made up of four chiefs from each band as well as
four Old Man chiefs. Each chief served a ten year term. Every summer, the Council of Forty Four
made decisions

  • 2. Assess the Usefulness of Functionalist Approaches in... Functionalists look at society as a whole. They explain crime and deviance by stating that the source of deviance lies in the nature of society rather than the individual. Durkheim states that crime and deviance is inevitable and a certain level is necessary for society to exist. He also claims that it is a positive aspect of society as it shows examples of rights and wrongs within society and by punishing offenders, through ways such as public humiliation and portraying crime as wrong, raises awareness of crime and therefore deters others from committing crime along with creating a collective conscience. He also argues that crime and deviance allows social change to occur which is needed in order for society to remain stable. Durkheim s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believes that the formation of the subcultures release the status frustration by creating their own values for achieving status and therefore deviant behaviour becomes normal and valued within the group. This is useful when looking at explanations of crime as it highlights that crime and deviance is a collective rational response to the norms and values of society. However, Cohen fails to consider why women in society commit crimes and form subcultures. He has also been criticised as we cannot be sure that the working class know the middle class values enough in order to purposely reject them. Furthermore, Cloward and Ohlin combine Merton and Cohen s theories by stating that there is a legitimate opportunity such as passing exams and getting a job, and an illegitimate opportunity, such as gangs. They believe that the working class have easier access to the illegitimate structure meaning that it is easier for them to commit more crimes and so face more pressure to do so. Cloward and Ohlin claim that there are 3 types of subcultures: criminal subculture in which people climb the professional criminal hierarchy, conflict subculture in which there is little/no social cohesion and retreatest subcultures in which people fail in both the legitimate and illegitimate opportunity and retreat to things such as alcohol and drugs. Over the years around the sport world there has been many cases of top professional athletes that have committed or accused of crimes. Over half of results of those crimes sadly ended their career. My favorite football player, former Dallas Cowboy star running back Ezekiel Elliott was accused of domestic violencewhich almost stopped him from playing his rookie season. • 6. Psychological Effects Of War In The Sniper Zombie or Death: The Physical and Psychological Effects of War War does not only destroy countries, they destroy the minds and bodies of soldiers as well. War can be a terrifying experience that can affect everyone. Soldiers are leaving their families, with the chance of not coming back, friends are turning against each other and innocent human beings are getting killed. Soldiers came back from war in a dehumanized state because of what they have witnessed and gone through. Liam O Flaherty, author of, The Sniper, chose to have an Irish sniper up against another sniper with the same skills, they fought throughout the night in a rather dangerous setting, causing them to be at risk of death or at the risk of losing their minds. In the short story, The Sniper, the author reveals the devastating consequences of war through the physical and psychological effects that the soldier suffers. By illustrating the sniper s injuries, near death experiences, and the careless decisions he took, the author reveals how dangerous war can be physically. Additionally, O Flaherty displays the horrid physical harm of war by describing the sniper s injured arm in a disturbing way. The sniper s ...forearm was dead, with ...blood...oozing through his sleeve... the ...bullet had lodged in the bone, and his ...arm bent back easily. The blood that is oozing through his sleeve can cause loss of blood, meaning that he may become dizzy, tired, and short of breath, this can affect the sniper s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Inspired Kantian Non Formalism Analysis Chapter Four The Inspired Kantian Non Formalism The interpretation of Kant as a moral formalist or constructivist precisely, has been dominant in much of the recent secondary literature on Kant in English speaking world, for Silber, Rawls and O Neill we analyzed. Those interpretations have lately come under sustained philosophical attack by the defenders of a non moral formalist or realist interpretation of Kant. We have mentioned at the outset, the essential division for formalist and non formalist is in their understanding C1 as a formal accomplishment or not. So far we have seen the formalist holds out for the preeminence of universalzation in the hierarchy of principles, i.e. the buttressing rules Rawls or O Neill posed. Now we are to see how ... This determination, it must be stressed, is voluntary and subjectively constructed, while the basis of the analysis, this intend to act from duty, is based on an understanding of moral law. Hence, Dietrichson points out a non formal approach to explain Kant, it is non formal because it raises the humanity the material for Kant to guide action. The environmental crisis has been felt by everyone in some way. The need for energy continues to increase as the population grows. Relying on past resources for energy will continue to torment the environment and negatively impact the level of supply. Energy is a resource that can be depleted if the abuse continues. Pollution from energy sources has caused the environment to deteriorate. The negative influences from energy sources has caused health problems, loss of wildlife and abuse of other resources. In order to protect public health and the future of the environment, preventable measures must be taken. Energy is used for everything we do in life. The two types of energy sources are renewable and nonrenewable. Nonrenewable energy is a source that cannot be used again because it does not renew itself. Renewable energy is a source that can be used again because it can be replenished. There are different sources available for each type of energy. Each resource has its own advantages and disadvantages. Each source has economic and ecological impacts that need to be evaluated. More than 80% of energy in the US comes from fossil fuels (Eia). • 12. Learning And Development Processes Of A Child The learning and development processes of a child have been debated for years, with no one theory sticking out as the best explanation as to how and why we learn. Looking at the behaviourist and humanist views of learning and development and the key theorists within them, you can see just how different they can be with their explanations of this. The key behaviourist views on learning are that learning is shaped by different incentives presented to the child. External stimulus shapes learning, as it prompts a response and increases the likelihood of the learner repeating the behaviour. Behaviourists believe development happens as a process of learning and that it has nothing to do with pre determined stages relating to a child s age and or mental ability. The behaviourist view works on a mix of operant and classical conditioning, operant conditioning is a process of learning where behaviour is controlled by consequences such as positive and negative reinforcements and positive and negative punishments. Classical conditioning is when the learner simply responds to external stimuli in a deterministic manner (Jordan, Carlile, and Stack, 2008). Pavlov, a behaviourist, looked deeply into the idea of classical conditioning and involuntary responses to stimuli. Pavlov looked at the responses of dogs and found that when the dog was presented with food the dog would salivate, which would be an unconditional response. But, when combined with the ringing of a bell as the food was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Social Media Reflection Social media is a medium in which people post about whatever they deem necessary. According to Sherry Turkle s book Alone Together, a vast majority of teens also use it to create a name for themselves and to pretend to be someone else; someone they want to be. However, in analyzing my social media, it was very difficult to find any trace of what kind of character I was attempting to portray. One similarity that I can see between Turkle s analysis of social media and my personal account is that my account does portray a type of person that I aspire to be. Online, I am in some unconscious way making a name for myself, but the problem arises when there are no differences between my social media self and my real self. Online I portray myself as a chill, relaxed person and my Facebook reflects that very well. I don t care to change my profile picture and haven t changed it since 8th grade. Even most of what I like and/or share has no specific agenda, it s just simply what I find interesting or funny. On top of that, I haven t even shared anything in about ten months and the only things I like are things that my family shares with me or tags me in. I have not physically posted an update of my life or anything in five years only because I don t feel the need to. For example, the last text post that I made was on my birthday in 2013, when I thanked everyone who wished me a happy birthday. • 19. The Effects Of Leptin On Other Human Obese Gene Located On... Leptin is a protein containing 166 amino acids and is the product of human obese gene located on chromosome 7q31.3. Leptin is produced mainly by adipose tissue. It is also synthesized in small amounts in other human tissues such as the stomach, heart, mammary epithelium , placenta, ovaries, skeletal muscle, pituitary, and liver (Muoio et al., 2002). After leptin is secreted by the adipose tissue, it enters the brain through the bloodstream. Gastric leptin may also reach hypothalamus through the vagal nerve and nucleus solitarius. Effects of leptin on various systems have been reported, including reproduction, immune system, hematopoesis, angiogenesis, bone formation and wound healing. It plays an important role in energy balance by inhibiting energy intake contrary to ghrelin, and by regulating body weight and energy homeostasis (Moran Phillip, 2003). The expression of leptin by adipose tissue is also influenced by feeding behaviour. Short term (12 h) or long term (2 or 8 weeks) overfeeding results in an increase in adipocyte leptin expression and circulating leptin in healthy human subjects. Furthermore, circulating leptin levels show a diurnal pattern and are influenced by gender, age, exercise and glucose uptake (Table 3). • 24. Donald Trump And Race Relations With Donald Trump s ascension to the presidency months ago, he inherited a nation divided on many issues, including race relations. Thus, a question is raised: How has President Trump worked to address the issue of race relations in the United States? He has promised to do everything he could to help race relations improve and unify the country, as demonstrated by the quote: Today and every day of my presidency I pledge to do everything I can to continue that promise of freedom for African Americans and for every American...We re going to bring this country together (Cottman, 2017). Unfortunately, it does not seem likely that race relations will improve so as long as Trump remains president. The facts below will prove that Trump has worsened race relations in America, and deepened the justifiable fear of division which many Americans feel. Such a conclusion can be clearly made through the observation of his past and present conduct. Trump promised on the campaign trail to dramatically improve the lives of African Americans, saying Every African Americancitizen in this country is entitled to a government that puts their jobs, wages and security first. ... Here is the promise that I make to you: Whether you vote for me or not, I will be your greatest champion (Swerdlick, 2017). • 25. The Sheep Revolution in John UpdikeВґs A P At first glance, A P written by John Updike, looks like a funny, slangy, youthful story about a young, nineteen year old boy, Sammy, who has the normal problems that come along with his age group; abhorrence for his job, talking despondently about the older generation, and dreaming about girls he sees in the store. However, when people look at the history of the 1960 s, they find it shows a change in American social values and morals. Furthermore, the revolution of multiple groups of minorities through the civil rights movement, such as women, gays, and African Americans just to name a few who were at the forefront of issues during the 1960 s. One of the biggest social groups that had some of the major impacts during the 1960 s were the youths in America, consisting of late teens to the late twenties. However, others that fell into that age group had already cemented their future with earlier choices in their lives. Stokesie also holds the belief that he will become store manager someday, which fit the mold of the start from the bottom and only with hard work can one move up style of the out dated ideologies of the past decade. Stokesie represents everything from the 1950 s suburbiaism that the youth revolution of the 1960 s was against. Many have argued that this story has a feminist undertone to the main idea. Conceding, that going into public is a bit bold, especially for the time period shows somewhat of a revolt by the girls. Although, someone can contend that if a girl or girls went into a grocery store in a bikini during today s time, it would result in the same sort of reaction. One can also argue that the story is condescending toward women and shows them in a negative light. This play was produced by the YOMYOMF Network and was performed through the video sharing website Youtube. The plotline follows the misadventures of an Asian American playwright named David Henry Hwang, the protagonist of the playwho is played by Ryan Yu. Throughout the play, Yu s character leads a protest against yellow face casting which only ends up in failure and embarrassment. Furthermore, he ends up mistakenly cast a white actor, Marcus G. Moreover, in this scene he also used exaggerated gestures by swinging his arms and twisting his hands. In relation to facial expressions, Yu strayed away from revealing dull, long face by endlessly using adaptive, cheeky facials instead. In particular, during Act I, Yu was having a conversation with his father and was getting confused by his father s statements. He demonstrated his bewilderment by using a quizzical, baffled facial expression with inquiring eyes and slightly opening his mouth which begged his father to clarify himself. Additionally, Yu was discussing in the park with Karla Chang, who was performed by Linda Park and was Yu s character s old love interest, about her boyfriend finally being caught as a fake Asian. Likewise, he constantly slammed his hands in an aggressive manner on the bench and strolled across the area with long strides in order to illustrate his satisfaction about her current situation. How can anyone control the life of another human being? The accused may have taken the life of another citizen but what gives anyone the right to take his. This is the main point of the question but it gets vastly more complicated as the issue is further investigated. For instance, the psychopath who goes on a murderous rampage might have an abnormality with the frontal lobe of the cortex in his brain. Now, if this is the case this person may not be able to control his murderous impulses. So, should this person be punished, and not only should he or she be punished but should the punishment be done for retribution? After all, most punishment is based... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course there is the old argument that capital punishment legalizes killing. This holds no ground. The person who committed a crime deserves to be punished. But, which punishment is worse, life in prison or death? The criminal sentenced to death most likely suffers more waiting for his death sentence to be carried out than did the person he murdered. Although this it not positively known. The next part of this discussion will be carried out by Christopher W. Morris. One must first understand what justice is compared to benevolence. The standard distinction is to understand justice to pertain to what individuals are owed, to what they may claim, to what they have a right. (Morris, 273) Benevolence is concerned with the well being of the accused. Justice is the more important of these two issues. A moral object is that which is receiving the moral consideration and to achieve moral standing is to be owed moral consideration, hence be a direct moral object. Having moral standing is a relation; something has moral standing in its relation to some other entity(ies). (Morris, 274) Criminals forfeit their moral standing in civilization. They do pay the same moral consideration to others so the moral consideration to them should be lost. The accused did not respect this social contract and so this should not be respected upon them. Even though the NCAA considers themselves to be a non profit organization, March Madness is such a huge event that in 2011 the NCAA made an agreement with CBS Sports and Turner Broadcasting System to let them broadcast the games until 2024 for $10.8 billion, but during March Madness they make almost $800 million every year from jersey, ticket, and product sales ( Revenue ). This would make a single law go through three stages of people, before it actually became one. This also meant, that if a law was too biased, or had many disliked qualities, people could stop the process of it becoming law, preventing people from big problems in the governments. To get more accurate results, the participants were not told if all the different liquids had sugar in them or if the sugar amount varies in each solution. Weather The Migration Hypothesis The reading and the lecture discuss weather the migration hypothesis is true for the edomontosaurs the elephant like dinosaurs to prove the North Slope as their habitat. The lecturer puts forth three aspects, each of which has casts doubt on the three points presented in the reading passage. To begin with, the professor avers that at the time of the edomontosaurs the temperature in the North slopes was warmer than ours. She says that the warmer temperature helps to have good vegetation in summer. Even the dead plants were enough to feed the edomontosaurs in the North slopes during winter. • 44. Everest Persuasive Speech The courage of the daring climber that attemps to conquer Everest exceeds most. He or she seeks to surmount one of Mother Nature s most menacing obstacles. For many years, thousands of people have attempted to tame Everest. While a select few climbers make it to the peak, many end up not making it, sometimes with catastophic results. In my opinion, despite their obvious awareness of the risks involved, mountaineers should have the freedom to climb Mount Everestif they desire and shouldn t be blocked off from the mountain. • 46. The Cheyenne Tribes Of The Native American Indians The Cheyenne was one of the most famous tribes of the Native American Indians. They lived on the Great Plains in what is now South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado, and Kansas. During the 1800 s, the U.S. government forced the Cheyennes to move to Oklahoma. Today, there are two Cheyenne tribes. The Southern Cheyennelive in Oklahoma while the Northern Cheyenne settle in Montana. The Cheyenne had an interesting culture and way of life. Boys were taught how to hunt, fish, and fight from their fathers. Girls learned how to cook, clean, and do chores around the house. Also, the children went to school and played with dolls, toys, and games. For example, the Cheyenne kids enjoyed playing the hoop game and lacrosse. A Cheyenne woman was responsible for building her family s house. She dragged heavy posts with her whenever the tribe moved. Later on, the Cheyenne Indians killed buffalo so they could use buffalo hide to make teepees. They lived in teepees because it was easy to set up and take down. As a result of moving frequently, a teepee allowed the Cheyenne tribe to move within an hour. The Cheyenne women harvested corn, squash, and beans while the men hunted deer and buffalo. Also, they ate fish, fruit, and berries. For clothing, the Cheyenne women wore long deerskin dresses that were decorated with porcupine quills, shells, and elk teeth. Cheyenne men wore breechcloths with leather leggings in colder climates. Men wore moccasins while the women wore high fringed boots. Chief leaders had tall feather headdresses and long warbonnets. The hair style for men was long braids with a topknot and women wore their hair loose or braided. The Cheyennes painted their faces for war, religious ceremonies, and feasts. Lastly, the Cheyenne people were very religious. They performed an elaborate Sun Dance, smoked peace pipes, built ceremonial houses, and four arrows represented their sacred object. The tribal government of the Cheyenne Indians was called the Council of Forty Four. It was formed by ten bands of the tribe. The council was made up of four chiefs from each band as well as four Old Man chiefs. Each chief served a ten year term. Every summer, the Council of Forty Four made decisions ...
