Stonewall Jackson Military Style
Stonewall Jackson was known for his intense attention to detail in military strategy, eccentric style
of teaching at VMI, and strange encounters with others, all traits of a person with Asperger s
Syndrome.
Jackson became known to be able to place his men exactly where Lee wanted them at the exact
time they were needed. Though he never succeeded in strategizing as much as leading his men,
Jackson knew how to drive his men forward swiftly and attack with skill alongside Lee s mastered
strategies. For patients with Asperger s, intense focus on certain definite topics is a key component
in diagnosis. Subjects that remain constant with solid facts and unchanging rules are where people
with Asperger s tend to excel. The arranging of men for militarystrategies could be seen as a puzzle
waiting to be solved, with solid actions and reactions from the enemy that must be anticipated. The

Jackson began his career as a professor in 1851 and continued until the beginnings of the Civil
War, teaching multiple topics such as Natural and Experimental Philosophy and Artillery Tactics.
Known to be incredibly smart in his topics, the way he presented the topics, difficult to
understand at best, created a harsh curriculum for his students. With reports of him giving lectures
in monotone voices, strictly organized then reported from memory, many alumni seeked to gain
his removal in 1856 due to what they deemed poor teaching. Asperger s Syndrome is known to
cause odd tones of voice such as flat or robot like, alongside an increased memory with the ability
to memorize facts and small details for a stretched amount of time. Being able to memorize whole
lectures on strenuous subjects is an incredible feat that could cause questions as to how Jackson

Review Of Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight

Prompt #3 Scene analysis
I chose to analyze The Dark Knight (2008) directed by Christopher Nolan. My scene begins at
00:01:13 and ends at 00:05:54. I chose to analyze this scene because it contains interesting points
that I have recognized, as the villain shows different characteristics, using aspects such as camera
angles. In this analysis, I will be looking at the setting, lighting, sound and the use of the camera
and how each of these views influences the audience.
The setting within this sequence takes place downtown Gotham city in a building, from ziplining,
on the street, to the van, outside of the building, and last inside of the bank. The scene starts, the
camera zooms up onto a building. The window is then broken and the camera switches showing a
masked man shooting a zip line across from the building to another building. The clowned mask is
being used to hide their faces which is iconic and is an example you would expect to see in a
heist film. The sound in the back ground is a fast hard tempo beat which gives the audience the
impression that this is a heist film. The next shot shows a man standing at the corner of the street
holding a clown mask in his hand and a bag. The camera slowly zooms up to the mask leading the
audience to believe that they may see the identity of the person holding it. This man is unlike the
others characters he is not wearing his mask and this builds pressure, but this up tempo

The Cost of Prohibiting an Individual from Pursuing Their...
Every individual has the right to their own good life, how they go about find and/or making it is
up to them. However, there are certain individuals who feel the need to dictate the path that
others choose to take. Like all actions, there are equal and opposite reactions, in this case, a
consequence. As seen in Sophocles Antigone and Harold Brighthouse s Hobson s Choice, the
consequence that Kreon and Henry face for prohibiting individuals pursuit of the good life is
isolation from loved ones. Sophocles character Kreon faces the ultimate price of isolation for
interfering in the pursuit of Antigone s good life as depicted in the play Antigone. Antigone s
view of building the good life was to honor the Gods and what they wished upon the people.
When Antigone s two brothers die Kreon declares a proclamation, not to honor him [Polynices]
with funeral rites or wail for him ( Sophocles, line 203 204), this went against the views of the
Gods. Antigone would rather go against Kreon s word and please the Gods by preforming the
burial rites for her brother, in pursuit of her own good life. However, Kreon does not let this act
of disobedience slide, he sends her to a cave to leave her there alone, deserted, whether she
desires to die or to love entombed (lines 887 888). This act of prohibiting Antigone from living
her good life cost Kreon the price of the loved ones around him. After Antigone was locked away,
she was found hanging by her neck (line 1221), she kills herself.

Bullies are Criminals
Bullies are everywhere and they can be found at church, home and most importantly in schools.
Nevertheless, there is no raised hand to stop the criminals or make no plans to stop them. Society
pays more attention to the victims when they have gone to drastic measures. However many might
say that at that moment a child is dead, has psychological damage, or puts others in harms way it
too late. Bullies are criminals and they should be treated as such, but if society worked together to
help or stop them early then maybe a bully won t become a bully. Nevertheless, in order to make a
solution one must understand the problem itself.
A bully is someone that uses their strength or influence to intimidate or force them into doing what
they want. They strip their victims of any power or control and do this day after day with no
remorse. They feed off of others pain and smile when they have made other cringe when they re
around. With this being said, there are different types and levels of bullying in society today. With
bullies in man s everyday life, it might be hard to tell the difference with just a look. However,
the various types of bullying are known more on school grounds. This is the problem society
must deal with in order to help or cure our bullying epidemic. Every morning, thousands of
children are terrified to walk into school. This isn t because they don t like school or they don t
wanna get up. These child decant focus on their education because one of their peers

Doing Business In Jamaica
Jamaica is located in the Caribbean Sea and is the largest English speaking country in the
Caribbean, over 146 miles from east to west. The island varies in its features as well. The north
coast contains coral beaches and plains where sugar cane, coconuts and citrus fruits grow, the
west coast is more of a secluded area, and the southern region is full of mountains and small
mining towns. Jamaica also has a warm climate, with the average temperature being about 80
degrees, but it also rains a lot. There are about 3 million people in this country, with the main
religion being Christianity. All of these diverse aspects of the country are very important to know
when wanting to successfully manage a business in Jamaica. In order for a U.S. manager to

The Role Of Satan In John Milton s Paradise Lost And...
The poem Paradise Lost and the novel Northern Lights both have a focus on the traditional
character role of Satan. The character of Satan is a complex one as he is usually considered to be
evil, however they also display natural human traits that the reader or audience can relate to. In
John Milton s Paradise Lost, Satan is a central part of the story. While he is depicted as a hero at
the beginning, this changes as the story develops and Satan starts to behave in a more sinister
manner. This is shown in the ways that Satan tries to rebel against God and Heaven, as he does
not want the structure and order that comes from following a God and instead wants freedom
from this, even if it leads to chaos. Satan does not allow anyone or anything to get in the way of
completing his task. His dedication to his cause is his only reason for doing what he does, even if
it causes death and destruction on the way. Philip Pullman also portrays the character or role of
Satan in the His Dark Materialstrilogy through the character of Lord Asriel. He is very similar to
Milton s Satan in many ways due to Pullman s inspiration from Paradise Lost; however Lord
Asriel uses different methods to achieve his aims. While Asriel would have been considered as a
purely evil character in most contexts, the way that he is shown to the reader in Northern Lights
allows the reader to sympathise with his beliefs to some extent. This is what makes the character
of Satan unique as he possesses many qualities that usually belong to the hero of a story; however
he has goals that are morally wrong.
Paradise Lost is an epic poem which depicts a classic tale of good against evil and is very similar to
beginning of the Bible. The story is set on a large scale as Satan tries to overthrow God and
Heaven which leads to Adam and Eve the original humans being exiled from Paradise and the
Garden of Eden. Paradise Lost begins by focusing on Satan, an angel who lost a battle against
God. In Hell he creates Pandemonium and tries to create a plan to overthrow the tyrannical God
and Heaven, even though he was created as an angel. Satan eventually decides to leave his
dominion of Hell and travel through Chaos until he reaches Heaven and by changing

Sex in the City-the Roman Empire
Sex in the times of the Roman Empire was much less taboo than it is in today s society. If you
could go back in time and walk around the streets of Rome you would find sex everywhere. From
graffiti on walls, to brothels in the middle of town, sex just did not have the stigma and guilt that
we associate with it today. No men took advantage of this more than the men with the most power,
the emperors. Although many of the Roman Emperors were perverse you only have to look at the
first three to find how the morals for the Roman Empire were set. There is no better place to start
talking about sex in the Roman empire than with the first emperor, Augustus. Born Gaius Octavius

One of the first things that Tiberius did when he came in to power was to reverse the laws that
Augustus put in to place trying to protect the morality of Rome. Tiberius spent very little time in
Rome during his reign as Emperor and retired to the country to spend the last eleven years of his
life. While living in the country Tiberius set new standards of debauchery, going as far as
creating a new government office for the originating of unfamiliar carnal pleasures (Cawthorne
67). Also at his villa in the country Tiberius housed young boys and girls to peform sexual acts
in front of him to arouse his wanning sex drive. The historian Suetonius lays several scandolus
allegations at the feet of Tiberius including raping two young boys at a sacrifice. It is said that
when the two boys objected to the way Tiberius treated them that he had their legs broken. It is
also said that Tiberius was awful. When one woman showed that she did not want to do what he
told her to, Tiberius had informers lay false accusations against her and then showed at her trial
shouting Are you sorry now (68)? Luckily for Rome, Tiberius accomplished very little in his time
as Emperor and spent the majority of his time in isolation. Unfortunatly for Rome the man that
would become Tiberius heir would be much worse. Born Gaius Julius Caesar Germanicus, Caligula

Shaun In The Film This Is England
In the film This is England the little main protagonist, Shaun, has experience vast changes over
the course of the movie. In the beginning, Shaun appears to be a sweet little boy that had a hard
time fitting in at his school and for this reason he was bullied from older boys. Like most 11 year
old kids who wore jumpers with animals on, I got bullied by the older kids at school. So I
looked for my own tribe to join. (Meadows, 2007) In fact, Shaun meets Woody who introduced

and aggressive skinhead gang that caused a lot of problems in the town. Shaun decides to join
Combo s gang because he wanted to make his father proud that was killed in the Flanklands war,
and this can be deduced by Combo when he said: and you want your dad s life to mean
something. Don t you... Although, I don t think that making his father proud was the only reason.
In fact, in Shaun s life there has been a lack of a father figure, which he suffered from, and so
when he meets Combo, and he tells him that he is going to take care of him, Shaun decided to
take him as a role model to follow. As a result Combo becomes the father figure in his life and
decided to follow his nationalism idea. Combo taught Shaun to be violent and racist against non
English people because according to Combo they were inferior and bad for the community.

How To Build A Computer
How I got interested in computers was when I got my very first one when I was sort of young
around eight or nine. It wasn t the best computer out at the time, but it was still a computer that
made me so attached to and fascinated with the technology that makes up computers. When I
started using computers, I would use them to play games and all sorts of stuff, but now that I
have my own computer that I built and paid for I can do anything with it, and it cost me around
one thousand and five hundred and sixty dollars. I use it to mostly play games, but I use it for school

I already know the basics and a lot about computers. I know how to build them. When it comes to
building a computer, people usually feel overwhelmed so they usually take it to a store and pay a

without any help, and it was probably one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had, along
with the feeling of accomplishment. More than likely, I will never forget building my first

became a much revered style icon known for her simple yet sophisticated outfits paired with great

otherwise it is not luxury.
Her early years, however, were anything but glamorous. After her mother s death, Chanel was put

her relationship with a Nazi officer as a betrayal of her country. Chanel left Paris, spending some
years in Switzerland in a sort of exile. She also lived at her country house in Roquebrune for a time.
At the age of 70, Chanel made a triumphant return to the fashion world. She first received scathing
reviews from critics, but her feminine and easy fitting designs soon won over shoppers around the
world.
In 1969, Chanel s fascinating life story became the basis for the Broadway musical Coco starring
Katharine Hepburn as the legendary designer. Alan Jay Lerner wrote the book and lyrics for the
show s song while Andre PrГ©vin composed the music. Cecil Beaton handled the set and costume
design for the production. The show received seven Tony Award nominations, and Beaton won for
Best Costume Design and RenГ© Auberjonois for Best Featured Actor.
Coco Chanel died on January 10, 1971, at her apartment in the Hotel Ritz. She never married,
having once said I never wanted to weigh more heavily on a man than a bird. Hundreds crowded

Social Stratification And Gender, Ethnicity, And General...
Historically, different physiological traits have correlated to specific allotments of form of capital
and therefore, to the social stratification system. Particularly, traits like gender, ethnicity, and
general attractiveness are all determinants to an person being socially stratified in a cohort. Social
stratification is a placement into a social position that can offer a spectrum of social effects. These
effects are generally considered positive, if the individual has a higher placement on the social
totem pole and considered negative with a corresponding lower placement. Utilizing Bourdieu s

These social classifications are directly related with the allotment and creation of forms of
capital (Wells, 2008). In examining the the traits that have an effect on distribution of forms of
capital, race and ethnicity are among the most important in demonstrating the disparity in
society. Racial and ethnic minorities are subject to an automatic low social stratification out of
the gate (Chua, Mathews, and Loh, 2016). In developing an understanding of how these
designations get put into effect, noting the differences in terms of social capital is useful.
Racial and ethnic minorities due to a socially perceived inferiority, start with lower amounts of
social capital (Wells, 2008). Social capital is responsible for determining which social
connections one has and the interpersonal relations they can draw resources from (Chandler and
Munday, 2011). This form of capital is generally not allotted to an individual, rather to a group
or subsection of society inherently. In terms of ethnic minorities, social capital can be low,
which can play a role in access to other forms of capital. For instance those belonging to a group
characterized by high levels of influence, are likely to make contacts with those in a similar
social standing. This results in a higher likelihood that those people would be able to acquire
work in the same field. So if the individual is part of a sub section that is graced with large

Branding Theory Essay

Programme: International Marketing
Introduction
This essay will attempt to describe and explain how organizations use branding theory and practice
to help develop, establish and maintain their positions in both existing and potential markets. To do
so it will be structured into four chapters that will be supported by examples:
1.What is a brand and why they matter.
2.How to develop a brand.
3.How to establish and maintain a brand.
4.How to develop establish and maintain brands in existing and potential markets.
What is a brand and why they matter
What is a brand? According to the American Marketing Association (AMA) a brand is a name,
term, sign, symbol, or design, or a combination of them, intended to identify the goods and services
of one seller or group of sellers and to differentiate them from those of competition (AMA, 2004).
These identifiable elements are called brand elements.
According to Robert Scott, author of Fighting the brand wars, a brand is any name, logo, phrase,
or slogan that sticks with the public and evokes a particular product or service (Scott, 2002).
Brands evolve and over time they have become part of our everyday life and have left the
traditional notion of being what represented a company or product name. From the 1366 Stella
Artois logo that is still being used to the 2004 action camera GoPro that uses its customers as

Syrian Refugee Crisis Sociological Analysis
This sociological analysis will define the theory of social conflict to define the underlying racial,

immigrant crisis in Canada defines some of the major problems of established racial norms ,

A value is a sociological concept of the dominant culture, such as Anglophile and Francophile
culture, which has become the dominant culture system of interaction in these Canadian groupings.
In the current Syrian immigrant crisis, many Canadians fear that a massive influx of Syrians will
threat the dominance of their Eurocentric value system. In fact, Reid (2016) suggests in his poll
findings that many Canadians feel that Syrians should adapt to Canadian norms, instead of
practicing their own culture: Canadians say they would prefer that minorities do more to fit in with
mainstream Canada (para.8). This aspect of Eurocentric values include speaking English and
French languages, but more importantly, that Syrians will be asked to forfeit their own cultural
values to adapt into Canadian society. This is the underlying conflict in the immigrant crisis, which
is fueling anti immigrant findings in the polls done by Reid in Canadian society. This aspect of
social conflict theory illustrates the cultural values of European society that are attempting for
force the Syrians to rebuild their lives as Europeans , and not Syrians. This aspect of
multiculturalism in Canada is being challenged by the increasingly Eurocentric value systems that
oppose the arrival of Syrians into the country. In this manner, Reid (2016) is attempting to dispel

* Rivalry among existing competitors (high) The main competitors of Chipotle include Panera
Bread, Qdoba and Pei Wei as well as regional competitors, which are providing similar services
and products and in some cases cheaper than Chipotle. * Threat of Substitute products (medium)
In this case, we can face 2 main points: first of all, if we see Chipotle as fast food , pre cooked
dishes may be a threat for them, because the main reason, although it offers great quality of
products and respect for environment, is that customers donВґt have or donВґt want to cook
because they do not have time for it. In the other hand, McDonald s in the industry of fast food,

products, so switching costs in this case is very high, although food quality cannot be compared.
* Bargaining power of buyers (high) Especially in the food industry, the buyers always had and
always will have a very high power because of all of the variety the market can offer. A surprising
thing about Chipotle customers is that their loyalty is based on how the food taste but as I mention
before, consumers in generally want to change their food habit regularly, so it is not normal in this
industry that a person eats more than three times a week in the same restaurant, that is why buyers

Does An Image Really Mean Something By Fred R. Barnard
Analytical Essay: Does an Image Really Mean Something
Fred R. Barnard once said, One picture is worth a thousand words. Fred R. Barnard had memories,
which were captured through images that explained how he felt about certain experiences in life.
An image can be very helpful for individuals to capture the life experiences to reminisce later on.
Manipulation of the images leads to many different interpretations of it. Each individual will
analyze the same image in different ways based on their past experiences. The manipulation of the
image allows each individual to come up with their own unique meaning of an image and relate it
to their own experiences in life. Images can be manipulated and photoshopped in a way where it
can mean what an individual wants it to mean. We are in an era where manipulation of the images...

Advertisers manipulate and Photoshop images to relate it to the customers to promote their

their own life. Christine Rosen on the Image Culture gave a very modest overview of how much
images can mean to the individual. She also talks about the positive as well as the negative
aspects of images. The image that I have chosen resembles determination and hard work. The
image can explain how I had never given up on hope to get a better life.
Christine Rosen on the Image Culture mentions, Americans love images. We love the

REFLECTION PAPER ON UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
The UEFA Champions League final is one of the most prestigious football events in Europe and
the whole world. It attracts football fans from all across the world as European teams compete for
the coveted Champions League trophy. In 2017, the final features Real Madrid from the Spanish
La Liga and Juventus from the Italian Seria A. On the other hand, the Super Bowl is the yearly
championship game of the National Football League (NFL). It signifies that the regular season has

Several multinational companies sponsored the UEFA Champions League. According to the policies
of the league, not more than eight companies should only sponsor a match. The game played on
3rd June 2017 was sponsored by Nissan, Heineken, MasterCard, Gazprom and PepsiCo companies.
During the match, the companies were allocated advertising boards that were visible on the
perimeter wall of the field used by the players.
Similarly, in both leagues, fans remain cheerful all through to the end of the match. For example,
even though Juventus fans were disappointed especially during the second half of the match, they
cheered their team to the end. They encouraged the players to keep on until the end. They only
stopped after the game had ended and their team had lost to the opponents. Likewise, United States
show support to their specific teams all through the match. Additionally, in both teams, fans enter
and cheer their teams by raising banners for the teams playing. Most fans put on attires with similar
colors as those of the playing teams.
Both UEFA Champions League fans and those in the United States do not behave in any manner
that may suggest hooliganism. The match played on 3rd of June 2017 was calm with no case of a
misdemeanor from the fans. Consequently, fans in America also maintain their cool even when
they lose to their opponents. I observed that the Juventus supporters were sorrowful. Despite this
fact, the fans did

Dance And Dementia Essay
Moreover, dance decreases the chances of someone getting a chronic illness involving dizziness.
According to Sam wong, a reporter who writes about brain research. Around one in four people
experience this condition at some time in their lives (Wong). A pirouette is a term in dance that
means a turn. When a dancer learns to do pirouettes, they eventually learn to spot, which prevents
them from getting dizzy while doing so many turns in a row. Dizziness comes from an organ in
the ear. There is a fluid within the organ that begins to churn when a person starts to turn and when
the person stops spinning, the fluid continues to move making a person dizzy. Dancers are able to,

Examples Of Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is very important in terms of an individual completing his or her work. In
other words, the individual should be completely honest and do their best to complete their
work without plagiarism or finding an easy way to get the job done. It is considered unethical to
do something that prevents an individual from being honest about their work. For example,
John is worried about getting a D in his Spanish class if he does not do well on his midterm. His
GPA will also be affected if he gets a D. On the day of his midterm, Jane, a student in John s
Spanish class, sits by him. She notices that he is looking at papers in his backpack secretively
and assumes he is cheating. However, Jane does not know what to do due to the fact that John

Antoine Arnauld s Argument Analysis
In objection to Descartes reasoning behind his attempt to establish that what is true, is clear and
distinct perception, Antoine Arnauld argues his reasoning is circular. Before explaining why
circularity is evident, I will first consider what Descartes truth rule really consists of. After
establishing cogito ergo sum , Descartes uses the same logical terminology in which the cogito was
established, to attempt to find other truths in the external world. However, as the is no causality
between cogito and external truths, some further proof is required for Descartes. This is at the point
Descartes introduces the argument for Gods existence and hence, we get the truthrule established.
He argues that God exists and is not a deceiver, in which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With Descartes distinction between what we perceive clearly and distinctly, and what we remember
having perceived clearly and distinctly. In order for something to be certain, it must at least have
duration in the mind. This means that even when not concentrated on, it is still knowledge with the
potential to be certain. Some beliefs, on the other hand, can be certain without God s existence for
their truth, but only for as long as they are concentrated on. Such beliefs are clear and distinct, and
therefore true, when thought of and not dependent upon a non deceiving God that would assure us
of their truth. Their truth is established by their being clear and distinct when concentrated on. The
contradiction lies with what Descartes considers eternal truths , that geometrical facts, such as the
area of a circle is equal to ПЂr^2, or the fact that three angles of a triangle are equal to two right
angles, are all only true because of Gods existence and non deceptive nature. This with
consideration to Descartes response to Arnauld, leaves up with the implication that an eternal truth
is only true once we clearly and distinctly perceive it, and then not true, when the attentiveness of
geometric truths leaves our mind; sounding like a

Family Structure Of The Family
Family is defined as a group of people related to each other or lives together under the same roof
and a place to foster and develop both physical and mental. Family structure can be varied by each
family. The family is the fundamental unit and micro structure of society. The level of development
of the familyreflects the state of social existence both physical and cultural and based on trust and
shared experiences that define how individual members interact and relate to each other and the
world outside the family. However, family structures today s society has changed in the family
traditional or non traditional.
It is common knowledge that the culture seems to have different kinds of family system. In the
United States, nuclear families, fathers, mothers and children, seems to prevail. In almost all of the
rest of the world, extended family, grandparents, parents, children, but also aunts, uncles, cousins,
and other relatives are considered family . Family type in America and has been changed with the
rise of the nuclear family and the extended family reduced, and with the rise of the family has not
married, divorced families, single mothers, and gay/lesbian families.
When I grew up, my family had two identities. A public identity has been shaped by the
expectations of society and rule. From a public perspective we were a middle class family tradition

Why Cultural Capital Is Fluid
As described in Social Class Matters, placement in a class system can occur through ascription or
achievement. The class that a person is ascribed to or achieves greatly correlates to the privilege in
their life, and can determine many things in life access to quality education, availability of medical
care or living conditions. Social classmatters as it can almost pre determine the quality of life that a
person will lead.
Had Brenda Allen not lived in a housing project that offered as many activities and opportunities,
she may not have been motivated to achieve well academically, earn a scholarship and become a
college professor. Allen s experiences allowed her to accumulate social and cultural capital. The
three different types of capital, as described by Bourdieu enabled her to essentially move up to a
higher social class and improve her quality of life.
I think a lot of our discussion this week surrounded the topic of whether cultural capital was
fluid, and how obtaining cultural capital could help you communicate and identify with people
from different walks of life. Growing up, I was told by my parents and extended family that the
cultural capitals as prescribed on the quiz would help me get ahead in life. More so, going to a
prestigious school such as UW Madison or the high school I went to would help expand my social
network, which would in turn help me improve my standard of living.
I agree with what Charlie said in the large group discussions about these

Art of the Baroque and Neoclassicism Movements
The Rape of Proserpina and Psyche Revived by Cupid s Kiss
Germaine Fahie
FAS 202: Introduction to Humanities II
Julianne Poncet
February 19, 2015
The purpose of this essay is to evaluate two art pieces that were created by two tremendously gifted
individuals during the Baroque to the contemporary period. Masters of their movements, both
sculptors were able to create masterpieces that revealed an unfolding event that could be read by
their viewers from all sides.
The first piece of art to be reviewed is the The Rape of Persopina (1621 22), also known as The
Rape of Persephone, which is a large marble sculpture, 255cm in height, which was crafted by Gian
Lorenzo Bernini, at age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overpowered by her own curiosity, Psyche, no sooner than she had opened the flask, fell into a
deathly sleep after inhaling the deathly vapors (Closer Look at Psyche). In sculpting his
masterpiece of this genre, Canova managed to combine the classical mode with consummate
eroticism when he captured the lover s embrace. Cupid and Psyche are turned towards each other
in sensual love, and Canova had succeeded in presenting a highly expressive treatment of the theme
of love from Greek mythology. The upward ranged wings of Amor emphasize the divine, about to
embrace mortal Psyche. The fulfillment of the love between the two is tangibly near (Cupid and
Psyche).
The masterworks of Bernini and Canova shared similarities along the lines of the sculptors
works were crafted with precision and a keen eye for detail and were successful in giving their
works a realistic effect. Both workers were masters in their own time and were able to manipulate
marble to as though they were constructing a painting. They both incorporated classical forms in
their works, depicting great scenes from mythical stories that could be viewed in great detail at a
360 degree angle.
Some of the differences noted between the two pieces were merely based on the characteristics
between the two eras. The works completed in the Neoclassical era were portrayed in a more

Code switching is a surviving skill that some bilingual people and students encompass, sometimes
to compensate for the lack of vocabulary in a certain language. It is defined as language alteration
between two languages, transferring from one language to another in the course of a conversation

teachers or students in story telling to aid interaction, comprehension, and classroom participation,

Those who oppose and highly criticize the use of code switching in a bilingual person daily life
and in the educational area, believe that the brain is divided in two categorie4s and that the first
language is in one side of the brain and that the second language is in the other side. The human
brain is not divided and it has been proven that knowledge is transferred from one language to
another; also the first language is more familiar to the person than the second language that the
person is acquiring or has already acquired. The concepts of the water cycle, counting, the world
etc. can transfer to the second language; the concepts do not stay only in one language. For
example, if a person gains knowledge about cloud formation in the native language, his or her
knowledge can easily transfer into the second language through acquiring the proper vocabulary
to express the topic. However, if a student has no background knowledge of a topic and the new
knowledge is presented along with the new vocabulary the student or the person is going to feel
lost. An example of this can be to give directions to a person who does not know the concepts of
north, south, east, and west, and someone gives them

In terms of surgical procedures, much of society refrains from using chloroform as an anesthetic
due to its life threatening effects on the human body and this chemical is not commonly used by
the average individual within society, so its absence will be barely noticed from the daily lives
of Americans. Yet, despite the fact that chloroform is an environmental hazard and is barely
used by the average individual, its is acknowledged that the chemical is also used as a reagent
and a solvent by factories in order to produce other chemicals. The hydrogen attached to carbon
within this organic compound allows it to participate in hydrogen bonding and serve as a solvent
for pesticides, fats, rubber, and oils. Next, chloroform also serves as a reagent (a compound added
to a system to cause a chemical reaction, that is not necessarily consumed throughout the reaction),
as it usually reacts with aqueous sodium hydroxide in order to produce the compound CCl2,
which can then be inserted into the bonds of other compounds to create new substances. As a
result, it can be noted that the economy, specifically the rubber and pesticide industries, will be
hindered for a short amount of time. It is only a short amount of time, as there are many
replacements available for chloroform that will result in the same or similar chemicals that
factories want to produce. These alternatives include the chemical dimethoxyethane, which can
replaced chloroform s role as a solvent due to its ability to mix in all proportions with a variety of
solutes, including water and ethanol, and ethyl acetate, which can replace chloroform s role as a
reagent to react with sodium hydroxide, as the reactivity of its elements are similar to the elements
found within chloroform. As such, many of the possible economical harms can be easily repaired
through the simple substitution of other chemicals that do not

Kitak Relationship In The Kite Runner
Thesis: Khaled Hosseini strongly argues the importance of family coming together despite their
differences because family is all a person has in the end.
Amir and his father s weak relationship in Afghanistan changes when Amir finally accomplishes
something Baba can be proud about, spreading light of a possible close relationship in the future.
At the beginning of the novel, Baba is talking with his friend, Rahim Khan, about his worries for
Amir not standing up for himself, when he is being bullied. Khan responds to Baba saying,
Children aren t coloring books. You don t get to fill them in with your favorite colors (Hosseini 21).
This quote illustrates the difficult relationship Amir and his father have with each other because
Baba wants to mold him into the perfect son, but Amir does not find appreciation in the same things
as Baba, causing this mold to be ruined. Amir and Baba being polar opposites causes them to
naturally separate from each other because Baba likes building luxury to fit his ego, but Amir
values the smaller gestures people do in life. Once Amir finally does something that makes Baba
proud and improves their ego, Baba starts to appreciate Amir more and tries to do more things
with him. This is depicted when Hosseini writes, Baba and I were finally friends (Hosseini 85).
Although Amir thinks they are close, they are not as close as they could be because Baba usually
invites friends and family to join them on their outings. Also, when they are alone it is very
awkward for the two of them because they do not know each other very well. The reason Amir
feels like he is gaining his father s acceptance is because he is taking him places, rather than
ignoring his existence completely, which is a significant step compared to their relationship before.
This step in their relationship illustrates they have a chance at becoming even closer in the future.
The father and son relationship truly transforms when they move to the United States and both find
appreciation in the other s differences because they only have each other. When they move it is
very difficult for Baba to assimilate to life in America, causing him to get very frustrated. He starts
to rely more on Amir for help and as a

The biggies for rap musicians were marijuana and other drugs, including cocaine. By contrast,
the 33.7 references per hour in country songs focused almost exclusively on alcohol. Musicians
have such a huge impacted on our adolescents and as time progresses the music and our

who was also once known as Hannah Montana young girls looked up to her and now the lyrics to

then be able to have more fun. Given that the average teenager listens to 2.4 hours of music a day

Clinical Leadership And The United Kingdom National Health...
Introduction
Clinical leadership is a concept growing in usage. Word frequency in the English lexicon shows
the term increasing in the last two decades, despite its composite words remaining static over the
same period (Graphs 1 and 2).
Graph 1: Word frequency in the British Lexicon of leadership and clinical (Google 2015)
Graph 2: Word frequency in the British Lexicon of clinical leadership (Google 2015)
Clinical leadership as a term grew out of opposition to New Public Management (Hood 1991) and
the corporatisation of health services in the 1970s to 1990s. The recent focus on catastrophic
medical errors in the United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS), in particular at the Mid
Staffordshire trust, has resulted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Organisations are doing more to foster it, with some success, but barriers remain. Background
Leadership is often juxtaposed against management. In classical business teaching, Kotter (2001,
reprint p4) defines the difference: Management is about coping with complexity. Leadership (by
contrast) is about coping with change. Leadership is more commonly distributed across all
organisational levels, and leaders are seen as those who empower others to significantly improve
organisation performance. Managers are those involved in performance monitoring, target setting,
and most importantly with the operational oversight of employees. They organise resources and
maintain stability. This is a large field, but for current purposes we accept that, though there is
overlap, Kotter s definition serves to highlight a valid distinction.
Leadership as a term has differing meanings through time. The influence of Great Man theories
stem form the socio politico models prevalent in much of the first half of the twentieth century.
However, personality traits map poorly to successful leaders, and this theory has waned. Post war
good leadership was thought to be based more around behaviours. It was out of this that models for
behaviour arose, including Adair s (1973) three circles model (task, team and individual). Truly
good leadership will undoubtedly involve a mixture of nature (or traits) and nurture (behaviours).
Current theory is

Personal Narrative-Coincidence
Coincidence? I think not... Paige rushed around the house as she got ready for work. All she
could think about was the extra ten minutes she spent in bed that morning and whether or not it
was worth it. While she was rushing around trying to feed the dog, brush her hair and get her
lunch ready for the day, she decided it was worth it. She really needed the extra sleep and it felt
good to take a few minutes for herself. Paige has been going to school full time, working at the
agency full time and studying for her last few finals. She only had a few more days until she was
finally finished with her master degree and she would be done with school after six very long
years. Even though she was feeling rushed this morning, she knew it would only be a few more
weeks of the craziness; that was enough to push her out the door and prepare to start her day.
While she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Forgetting about the shirt, Paige invited her in, asked her to have a seat and introduced herself.
When the young woman said her name was also Paige, the two laughed it off, stating that it was
quite the coincidence and what were the odds. After talking for awhile, Paige learned that the
young woman was the little girls, Emily, aunt. She was in town because her sister relapsed and
was put into rehab. She was going to take care of Emily for a couple weeks and needed social
services help in order to make sure everything went smoothly. After the meeting, Paige and the
young woman walked outside. Paige began to feel uneasy again once the young woman began
asking more personal questions. They started out innocent, such as do you have any animals, to
what time Paige usually got home from work. When Paige told her she was actually taking night
classes at the moment, the young woman stated that she was too and would be graduating in a few
weeks. What a wonderful coincidence, or so Paige

Essay on Routine Drug Testing For High School Athletes
Patricia Neal once said, A strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder
drug (Neal). However, many teenagers of this era, large part athletes, seem to think differently and
they constantly use illegal drugs. To help fight this problem, many colleges have taken strong
actions in trying to stop drugabuse by athletes. High schools throughout the country have
considered taking these same actions for various reasons as well. Some people believe that high
schoolathletes ought to be given a routine drug test because it will help prevent them from abusing
illegal substances. Such actions will also help detect cheaters who use performance enhancing
drugs (PEDs) to get an edge over their opponents. On the other hand,... Show more content on

If a drug testing system is set up for high school athletes, then those athletes who are tempted to
use illegal substances will think twice before using them. Furthermore, those athletes that test
positive for these substances will get suspended from their respective teams and this will create
a healthier environment at least in high school sports. A routine drug testing system in high
school will help detect cheaters who use performance enhancing drugs to get and edge over their
opponents. In today s world, with the competitiveness and popularity of steroids and other PEDs
among professional athletes, it is not difficult to believe that many high school athletes are
doing the same. A 2003 study examining steroid use among teens in the United States showed
that 6.1 percent had illegally used steroids and 3.2 percent had injected an illegal drug one or
more times during their lifetime ( Teens and Drugs Fast Facts ). Nevertheless, if a routine drug
testing system is established, those who are caught cheating will most likely get suspended or
even banned from high school sports thus making the competitive field more leveled. In addition,
those who are tempted to use performance enhancers will be less likely to in order to avoid the
consequences. In 1996, while admitting to the use of anabolic steroids, Arnold Schwarzenegger
stated, It was what I had to do to compete. The danger with steroids is over usage. I only did it

Characteristics And Weaknesses Of An Enterprise...
1. Given our studies of EA frameworks you are to identify five different criteria by which you can
assess the strengths and weaknesses of the: TOGAF, FEA, LightWeight and Zachman framework.
(50 points)
Enterprise Architecture is an all inclusive approach to managing the complexity of IT from a
business viewpoint. A framework is used to help describe how to create and use an EA, in a
manner that delivers business benefit in a cost effective way. Each framework has a different
approach to adding value to the business. These criteria will identify the ways an enterprise
architecture framework adds business value, how adaptability and flexibility effect the overall
adoption of an enterprise architecture framework, how the deliverables contribute to the success of
an enterprise architecture, how does each framework take a strategic approach to reduce complexity
of enterprise architecture, and how the framework encompasses the Software Development
Lifecycle.
The Zachman Framework considers that there may be different perspectives, however, each
perspective considers the requirements of the other and the restraints those may impose. It also
allows for different levels of complexity, depth, and breadth of details for each cell of the matrix
based upon the importance to a given organization. The Zachman Framework can be used to set
standards and is also easy to use with other tools and methodologies. TOGAF offers flexibility and
is easily adaptable for any organization. It

The Theme Of Survival In Maus By Art Spiegelman
After the Holocaust on May 8th, 1945, a book called Maus was released which is revolved
around survival. The author, Art Spiegelman intended the story was to reflect upon his past and
express his feelings world how he had to deal life was at the time. The book is a story of Art s
father named Vladek, he tells his point of view to the world to show multiple struggles he had to
withstand. The theme of Art Spiegelman s book Mausis survival; Art Spiegelman shows the theme
of survival by using tone, mood, and point of view throughout the graphic novel. Vladek is the
main character of Maus and shares his point of view. Vladek tells a true story about how he
survived the Holocaustand the things he had to accomplish to make it through alive. This book is
based on a true story of what had happened during the Holocaust.
The tone in Maus is depression; this is shown when Vladek tells the story in his perspective and
reveals what kind of events occurred during the Holocaust. This relates to survival because even
though Vladek had a feeling of discouragement through his experiences, he still managed to
survive. Vladek explains when he was captured as a war prisoner and what they gave them to eat.
The other prisoners get two meals a day. We Jewsget only a crust of bread and a little soup.
(Spiegelman, 55) This shows how hard it was for the Jews and how hopeless Vladek s story was.
Another heartbreaking part of the story was when Vladek had to work hard and act as slaves to the

The And The Great Depression
Introduction Because of the wealth afforded through the Industrial Revolution the beginning of the
20th century in the United States was filled with peace and prosperity. However, in the
background war was on the horizon. After two world wars and the Great Depression, some of the
movements of the 19th century were re established. Moreover, new movements emerged in
response to the issues created from the wars and the Great Depression. I will discuss the major
religious, social and political movements that emerged in the 20th century. Religious Movements
During the 19th century, many approaches were taken to Christianize the immigrants in the new

Subsequently, the Pentecostal movement spread through different denominations in the United
States. The Pentecostal movement resulted in the creation the Assemblies of God, which is the
main Pentecostal denomination in the United States. In addition to the overcrowding and other
urban issues brought on by immigration, European ideas also immigrated to the United States.
Darwin s theory of evolution questioned the validity of the creation story in the book of Genesis.
The theory taught that through evolution humans would have the capability to solve problems and
create peace, joy, freedom and abundance. In response, Protestant Liberalism emerged and taught
that humans were free to think as they pleased. Gonzalez noted, Protestant Liberalism was an
attempt to couch Christianity in the mold of those ideas, and gained wide acceptance among the
intellectual elite in the U.S. . Although most liberals were Christians, there was a group of radical
liberals called modernist who were not Christian. In addition, the modernist did not believe in the
Bible, instead they believed the key to achievement was will power. According to Alister McGrath,
The fundamental theme of modernism was its desire to control . Because the theory of evolution
was a direct contradiction of the Christian faith, many Christians viewed liberalism as a threat. As a

Holocaust And The Moving Image
Holocaust and the Moving Image: representations in film and television since 1933, is a collection
of essays that grew out of the 2001, Holocaust, Genocide, and the Moving Image: Film and
Television Representations Since 1933 symposium held at the Imperial War Museum in London.
The conference, was designed to address the historic, social, educational, and psychological
relationships bound to the experiences of the Holocaust and film, while reaching forward to
actualize the knowledge and expertise that could and should be shared by an international
community of Holocaust film scholars. Realizing that film ... has helped create a wider awareness
of the Holocaust ... Judith Doneson claims that film has become so effective (that) ... It is now a
part of the nation s cultural memory ... remarkable ... in a country (the United States) where the
Holocaust is a refugee event (Haggith and Newman 8). AndrГ© Colombat, Dean of International
Programs at Loyola University holds that film has been an exceptional media to fight antisemitism
and bigotry (Haggith and Newman 8). The views of these scholars are a strong representation of
the reasons for the compilation of essays that go to make up Holocaust and the Moving Image.
Understanding that as generations passed, many of the vital lessons of the Holocaust would be lost
to time, revisionist narratives, and erosion of physical verification, conference organizers elected to
open a visual dialogue to engage the Holocaust as a universal cinematic

The Battle Of War Among The Packs
Two years ago, I stood where I stand now with nothing but sorrow in my heart. I watched my
loved ones die in the hands of those I call fellow wolves. My mother, father, and older brother are
now gone and The Moon Pack are held responsible.
They were vicious, cold blooded werewolves that kill will anyone who dared to oppose them. The
pack consists of rogues from other packs which proved problematic. Their reckless actions caused a
rift between packs, threatening the alliance. Thus, a treaty was formed to prevent an outbreak of
war among the packs.
Adam, The Moon Pack s Alpha, Adam was the culprit behind the massacre of my pack. He, alone

She and I were the sole survivors of our pack. It would be our job to reproduce but I don t see that

The Girl Next Door Summary
In The Girl Next Door Megan and her sister Susan have to move in with their Aunt Ruth and
there three cousins, Willie, Ralphie, and Donny. Ruth allows her son and the neighborhood
boys to come to the house to drink and smoke. While the boys are over Ruth abuses Megan,
physically and emotionally in front of them. Megan is called a whore and is starved. Ruth beats
up Susan and blames her beatings on Megan. The only person who tries to help Megan and
Susan is David, the next door neighbor. One day Megan goes to the police and as punishment
she is put in the cellar and is hung from the rafters. They all play this game of confession with
her. Since she does not play along with the game they strip her, blindfold her, and put a gag in
her mouth. Ruth invites all of the kids in the neighborhood to the cellar so they can burn, beat
and cut her for their own amusement. The next day Megan gets raped by her cousin Willie
while everyone watched. David tried to leave, but was forced to watch. Ruth heats up a needle
and carves I fuck, fuck me on to Megan s stomach. Ruth decides in order for Megan to never
want to be with a guy and for no guy to want her she needs to give Megan a clitorectomy with a
blowtorch. Megan died from all the injuries caused by Ruth. The next morning David starts a
fire in the cellar to get people s attention. Ruth sees that there is a fire and goes in to the cellar.
David then beats Ruth until she s dead with a crutch. A police officer arrived and took Susan to
go get help. The end shows Willie and Donny being arrested. Willie s personality is just like Ruth
s. He is taught and shown how to disregard woman and to take everything from them. Since he is
taught and shown this behavior he thinks it is acceptable to cause harm to another human being.
He has the personality trait of being malicious. His sole being in the movie is to cause harm to
Megan and Susan and to make their life as unpleasant as possible. Willie was in the adolescence
stage in the movie which means he was forming his own identity and seeking independence. This
is illustrated when Willie is not told to act in such way towards his cousin, but does anyway. He is
forming his own decisions that are not based off of anyone around him

Resurgence Of Vinyl And Its Effects
Keith Kain COMM 481 12/1/14 Resurgence of Vinyl If one were to mention vinyl records in a
conversation today, they would likely be met with confusion and laughter. Vinyl records, like
other relics from the past, are not often thought of when discussing music listening in 2014. Like
cassettes and CD s, vinyl is frequently viewed as a remnant of a time when paying for music
was mandatory and buying an album meant buying the whole album. However, for some
listeners in 2014, this format is their preferred method of hearing their favorite music. Due to
the nature of niche markets, it isn t very stunning that some collectors still delve into the past
and listen on vinyl. However, it is extremely unusual for a niche market to increase in sales quite
like vinyl has. In fact, from 2008 to 2014, vinyl sales have increased by 745%. In a time when
music sales as a whole are dropping, how did vinyl go from selling less than one million records
20 years ago, to selling 6.1 million in 2013 alone? There are plenty of factors, including what is
selling, who is buying, the tangibility factor, and the antipiracy counterculture. Vinyl records were
one of the main formats to listen to music during most of the 1900 s. Many of those who listened
to vinyl in the late 1900 s are still collecting vinyl today, or have passed down the hobby to their
children. Nostalgic collectors will claim that the surface noise and warm audio quality of vinyl
makes it unique and unmatched. However, as new

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN PROFORMA
INTRODUCTION/RATIONALE
My classroom management philosophy
My classroom management philosophy is evolved around the best way to facilitate knowledge to
the students. All the students should have equal opportunity and access to learning within my
classroom. I believe that students should have an element of fun and relaxation to make the
students and teacher feel like a community. My teaching approach is authoritative/ democratic,
using an instructional management plan, following an interactionist theory of teaching.
I am heavily influenced by theorist Jacob Kounin where he believes that teachers prevent
misbehavior through awareness in the classroom and by using effective lesson management
techniques to influence student behavior. I believe that primary prevention is fundamental with
dealing with classroom management, the key is the set the ground and to accommodate to those who
need more attention such as student with unstable emotional behavior and learning disorder as
students are increasingly showing signs of anxiety in classrooms. It is important to respect the
student s dignity, enabling them to grow in confidence and to be comfortable within their
classroom environment where positive classroom management strategies will be utilized
I will introduce methods that best suit my students incorporating student interests and preferred
activities with grounded classroom rules and procedures to accelerate their learning building their

  • 2. Stonewall Jackson Military Style Stonewall Jackson was known for his intense attention to detail in military strategy, eccentric style of teaching at VMI, and strange encounters with others, all traits of a person with Asperger s Syndrome. Jackson became known to be able to place his men exactly where Lee wanted them at the exact time they were needed. Though he never succeeded in strategizing as much as leading his men, Jackson knew how to drive his men forward swiftly and attack with skill alongside Lee s mastered strategies. For patients with Asperger s, intense focus on certain definite topics is a key component in diagnosis. Subjects that remain constant with solid facts and unchanging rules are where people with Asperger s tend to excel. The arranging of men for militarystrategies could be seen as a puzzle waiting to be solved, with solid actions and reactions from the enemy that must be anticipated. The focus ... With reports of him giving lectures in monotone voices, strictly organized then reported from memory, many alumni seeked to gain his removal in 1856 due to what they deemed poor teaching. Asperger s Syndrome is known to cause odd tones of voice such as flat or robot like, alongside an increased memory with the ability to memorize facts and small details for a stretched amount of time. • 3. Review Of Christopher Nolan s The Dark Knight Jalen Mathis Professor Drummond English 1101 4 December 16 Prompt #3 Scene analysis I chose to analyze The Dark Knight (2008) directed by Christopher Nolan. My scene begins at 00:01:13 and ends at 00:05:54. I chose to analyze this scene because it contains interesting points that I have recognized, as the villain shows different characteristics, using aspects such as camera angles. In this analysis, I will be looking at the setting, lighting, sound and the use of the camera and how each of these views influences the audience. The setting within this sequence takes place downtown Gotham city in a building, from ziplining, on the street, to the van, outside of the building, and last inside of the bank. The scene starts, the camera zooms up onto a building. The window is then broken and the camera switches showing a masked man shooting a zip line across from the building to another building. The clowned mask is being used to hide their faces which is iconic and is an example you would expect to see in a heist film. The sound in the back ground is a fast hard tempo beat which gives the audience the impression that this is a heist film. The next shot shows a man standing at the corner of the street holding a clown mask in his hand and a bag. The camera slowly zooms up to the mask leading the audience to believe that they may see the identity of the person holding it. This man is unlike the others characters he is not wearing his mask and this builds pressure, but this up tempo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Cost of Prohibiting an Individual from Pursuing Their... Every individual has the right to their own good life, how they go about find and/or making it is up to them. However, there are certain individuals who feel the need to dictate the path that others choose to take. Like all actions, there are equal and opposite reactions, in this case, a consequence. As seen in Sophocles Antigone and Harold Brighthouse s Hobson s Choice, the consequence that Kreon and Henry face for prohibiting individuals pursuit of the good life is isolation from loved ones. Sophocles character Kreon faces the ultimate price of isolation for interfering in the pursuit of Antigone s good life as depicted in the play Antigone. Antigone s view of building the good life was to honor the Gods and what they wished upon the people. When Antigone s two brothers die Kreon declares a proclamation, not to honor him [Polynices] with funeral rites or wail for him ( Sophocles, line 203 204), this went against the views of the Gods. Antigone would rather go against Kreon s word and please the Gods by preforming the burial rites for her brother, in pursuit of her own good life. However, Kreon does not let this act of disobedience slide, he sends her to a cave to leave her there alone, deserted, whether she desires to die or to love entombed (lines 887 888). This act of prohibiting Antigone from living her good life cost Kreon the price of the loved ones around him. After Antigone was locked away, she was found hanging by her neck (line 1221), she kills herself. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Bullies are Criminals Bullies are everywhere and they can be found at church, home and most importantly in schools. Nevertheless, there is no raised hand to stop the criminals or make no plans to stop them. Society pays more attention to the victims when they have gone to drastic measures. However many might say that at that moment a child is dead, has psychological damage, or puts others in harms way it too late. Bullies are criminals and they should be treated as such, but if society worked together to help or stop them early then maybe a bully won t become a bully. Nevertheless, in order to make a solution one must understand the problem itself. A bully is someone that uses their strength or influence to intimidate or force them into doing what they want. They strip their victims of any power or control and do this day after day with no remorse. They feed off of others pain and smile when they have made other cringe when they re around. With this being said, there are different types and levels of bullying in society today. With bullies in man s everyday life, it might be hard to tell the difference with just a look. However, the various types of bullying are known more on school grounds. This is the problem society must deal with in order to help or cure our bullying epidemic. Every morning, thousands of children are terrified to walk into school. • 7. The Role Of Satan In John Milton s Paradise Lost And... The poem Paradise Lost and the novel Northern Lights both have a focus on the traditional character role of Satan. The character of Satan is a complex one as he is usually considered to be evil, however they also display natural human traits that the reader or audience can relate to. In John Milton s Paradise Lost, Satan is a central part of the story. While he is depicted as a hero at the beginning, this changes as the story develops and Satan starts to behave in a more sinister manner. This is shown in the ways that Satan tries to rebel against God and Heaven, as he does not want the structure and order that comes from following a God and instead wants freedom from this, even if it leads to chaos. Satan does not allow anyone or anything to get in the way of completing his task. His dedication to his cause is his only reason for doing what he does, even if it causes death and destruction on the way. Philip Pullman also portrays the character or role of Satan in the His Dark Materialstrilogy through the character of Lord Asriel. He is very similar to Milton s Satan in many ways due to Pullman s inspiration from Paradise Lost; however Lord Asriel uses different methods to achieve his aims. While Asriel would have been considered as a purely evil character in most contexts, the way that he is shown to the reader in Northern Lights allows the reader to sympathise with his beliefs to some extent. This is what makes the character of Satan unique as he possesses many qualities that usually belong to the hero of a story; however he has goals that are morally wrong. Paradise Lost is an epic poem which depicts a classic tale of good against evil and is very similar to beginning of the Bible. The story is set on a large scale as Satan tries to overthrow God and Heaven which leads to Adam and Eve the original humans being exiled from Paradise and the Garden of Eden. Paradise Lost begins by focusing on Satan, an angel who lost a battle against God. In Hell he creates Pandemonium and tries to create a plan to overthrow the tyrannical God and Heaven, even though he was created as an angel. Satan eventually decides to leave his dominion of Hell and travel through Chaos until he reaches Heaven and by changing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If you could go back in time and walk around the streets of Rome you would find sex everywhere. From graffiti on walls, to brothels in the middle of town, sex just did not have the stigma and guilt that we associate with it today. No men took advantage of this more than the men with the most power, the emperors. Although many of the Roman Emperors were perverse you only have to look at the first three to find how the morals for the Roman Empire were set. While living in the country Tiberius set new standards of debauchery, going as far as creating a new government office for the originating of unfamiliar carnal pleasures (Cawthorne 67). Also at his villa in the country Tiberius housed young boys and girls to peform sexual acts in front of him to arouse his wanning sex drive. In examining the the traits that have an effect on distribution of forms of capital, race and ethnicity are among the most important in demonstrating the disparity in society. Racial and ethnic minorities are subject to an automatic low social stratification out of the gate (Chua, Mathews, and Loh, 2016). In developing an understanding of how these designations get put into effect, noting the differences in terms of social capital is useful. Racial and ethnic minorities due to a socially perceived inferiority, start with lower amounts of social capital (Wells, 2008). Social capital is responsible for determining which social connections one has and the interpersonal relations they can draw resources from (Chandler and Munday, 2011). This form of capital is generally not allotted to an individual, rather to a group or subsection of society inherently. In terms of ethnic minorities, social capital can be low, which can play a role in access to other forms of capital. For instance those belonging to a group characterized by high levels of influence, are likely to make contacts with those in a similar social standing. This results in a higher likelihood that those people would be able to acquire work in the same field. So if the individual is part of a sub section that is graced with large ... In fact, Reid (2016) suggests in his poll findings that many Canadians feel that Syrians should adapt to Canadian norms, instead of practicing their own culture: Canadians say they would prefer that minorities do more to fit in with mainstream Canada (para.8). This aspect of Eurocentric values include speaking English and French languages, but more importantly, that Syrians will be asked to forfeit their own cultural values to adapt into Canadian society. This is the underlying conflict in the immigrant crisis, which is fueling anti immigrant findings in the polls done by Reid in Canadian society. In other words, the individual should be completely honest and do their best to complete their work without plagiarism or finding an easy way to get the job done. It is considered unethical to do something that prevents an individual from being honest about their work. For example, John is worried about getting a D in his Spanish class if he does not do well on his midterm. His GPA will also be affected if he gets a D. • 25. Antoine Arnauld s Argument Analysis In objection to Descartes reasoning behind his attempt to establish that what is true, is clear and distinct perception, Antoine Arnauld argues his reasoning is circular. Before explaining why circularity is evident, I will first consider what Descartes truth rule really consists of. After establishing cogito ergo sum , Descartes uses the same logical terminology in which the cogito was established, to attempt to find other truths in the external world. However, as the is no causality between cogito and external truths, some further proof is required for Descartes. This is at the point Descartes introduces the argument for Gods existence and hence, we get the truthrule established. He argues that God exists and is not a deceiver, in which... In order for something to be certain, it must at least have duration in the mind. This means that even when not concentrated on, it is still knowledge with the potential to be certain. Some beliefs, on the other hand, can be certain without God s existence for their truth, but only for as long as they are concentrated on. Such beliefs are clear and distinct, and therefore true, when thought of and not dependent upon a non deceiving God that would assure us of their truth. Their truth is established by their being clear and distinct when concentrated on. The contradiction lies with what Descartes considers eternal truths , that geometrical facts, such as the area of a circle is equal to ПЂr^2, or the fact that three angles of a triangle are equal to two right angles, are all only true because of Gods existence and non deceptive nature. This with consideration to Descartes response to Arnauld, leaves up with the implication that an eternal truth is only true once we clearly and distinctly perceive it, and then not true, when the attentiveness of geometric truths leaves our mind; sounding like a ... The class that a person is ascribed to or achieves greatly correlates to the privilege in their life, and can determine many things in life access to quality education, availability of medical care or living conditions. Social classmatters as it can almost pre determine the quality of life that a person will lead. Had Brenda Allen not lived in a housing project that offered as many activities and opportunities, she may not have been motivated to achieve well academically, earn a scholarship and become a college professor. Allen s experiences allowed her to accumulate social and cultural capital. The three different types of capital, as described by Bourdieu enabled her to essentially move up to a higher social class and improve her quality of life. I think a lot of our discussion this week surrounded the topic of whether cultural capital was fluid, and how obtaining cultural capital could help you communicate and identify with people from different walks of life. Growing up, I was told by my parents and extended family that the cultural capitals as prescribed on the quiz would help me get ahead in life. Cupid and Psyche are turned towards each other in sensual love, and Canova had succeeded in presenting a highly expressive treatment of the theme of love from Greek mythology. In terms of surgical procedures, much of society refrains from using chloroform as an anesthetic due to its life threatening effects on the human body and this chemical is not commonly used by the average individual within society, so its absence will be barely noticed from the daily lives of Americans. Yet, despite the fact that chloroform is an environmental hazard and is barely used by the average individual, its is acknowledged that the chemical is also used as a reagent and a solvent by factories in order to produce other chemicals. The hydrogen attached to carbon within this organic compound allows it to participate in hydrogen bonding and serve as a solvent for pesticides, fats, rubber, and oils. Next, chloroform also serves as a reagent (a compound added to a system to cause a chemical reaction, that is not necessarily consumed throughout the reaction), as it usually reacts with aqueous sodium hydroxide in order to produce the compound CCl2, which can then be inserted into the bonds of other compounds to create new substances. As a result, it can be noted that the economy, specifically the rubber and pesticide industries, will be hindered for a short amount of time. It is only a short amount of time, as there are many replacements available for chloroform that will result in the same or similar chemicals that factories want to produce. These alternatives include the chemical dimethoxyethane, which can replaced chloroform s role as a solvent due to its ability to mix in all proportions with a variety of solutes, including water and ethanol, and ethyl acetate, which can replace chloroform s role as a reagent to react with sodium hydroxide, as the reactivity of its elements are similar to the elements found within chloroform. Amir and his father s weak relationship in Afghanistan changes when Amir finally accomplishes something Baba can be proud about, spreading light of a possible close relationship in the future. At the beginning of the novel, Baba is talking with his friend, Rahim Khan, about his worries for Amir not standing up for himself, when he is being bullied. Khan responds to Baba saying, Children aren t coloring books. You don t get to fill them in with your favorite colors (Hosseini 21). This quote illustrates the difficult relationship Amir and his father have with each other because Baba wants to mold him into the perfect son, but Amir does not find appreciation in the same things as Baba, causing this mold to be ruined. Amir and Baba being polar opposites causes them to naturally separate from each other because Baba likes building luxury to fit his ego, but Amir values the smaller gestures people do in life. Once Amir finally does something that makes Baba proud and improves their ego, Baba starts to appreciate Amir more and tries to do more things with him. This is depicted when Hosseini writes, Baba and I were finally friends (Hosseini 85). Although Amir thinks they are close, they are not as close as they could be because Baba usually invites friends and family to join them on their outings. Also, when they are alone it is very awkward for the two of them because they do not know each other very well. The reason Amir feels like he is gaining his father s acceptance is because he is taking him places, rather than ignoring his existence completely, which is a significant step compared to their relationship before. This step in their relationship illustrates they have a chance at becoming even closer in the future. The father and son relationship truly transforms when they move to the United States and both find appreciation in the other s differences because they only have each other. In classical business teaching, Kotter (2001, reprint p4) defines the difference: Management is about coping with complexity. Leadership (by contrast) is about coping with change. Leadership is more commonly distributed across all organisational levels, and leaders are seen as those who empower others to significantly improve organisation performance. Managers are those involved in performance monitoring, target setting, and most importantly with the operational oversight of employees. They organise resources and maintain stability. This is a large field, but for current purposes we accept that, though there is overlap, Kotter s definition serves to highlight a valid distinction. Leadership as a term has differing meanings through time. The influence of Great Man theories stem form the socio politico models prevalent in much of the first half of the twentieth century. However, personality traits map poorly to successful leaders, and this theory has waned. Post war good leadership was thought to be based more around behaviours. It was out of this that models for behaviour arose, including Adair s (1973) three circles model (task, team and individual). Truly good leadership will undoubtedly involve a mixture of nature (or traits) and nurture (behaviours). Current theory is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Personal Narrative-Coincidence Coincidence? I think not... Paige rushed around the house as she got ready for work. All she could think about was the extra ten minutes she spent in bed that morning and whether or not it was worth it. While she was rushing around trying to feed the dog, brush her hair and get her lunch ready for the day, she decided it was worth it. She really needed the extra sleep and it felt good to take a few minutes for herself. Paige has been going to school full time, working at the agency full time and studying for her last few finals. She only had a few more days until she was finally finished with her master degree and she would be done with school after six very long years. Even though she was feeling rushed this morning, she knew it would only be a few more weeks of the craziness; that was enough to push her out the door and prepare to start her day. While she... She was going to take care of Emily for a couple weeks and needed social services help in order to make sure everything went smoothly. After the meeting, Paige and the young woman walked outside. • 41. Essay on Routine Drug Testing For High School Athletes Patricia Neal once said, A strong positive mental attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug (Neal). However, many teenagers of this era, large part athletes, seem to think differently and they constantly use illegal drugs. To help fight this problem, many colleges have taken strong actions in trying to stop drugabuse by athletes. High schools throughout the country have considered taking these same actions for various reasons as well. Some people believe that high schoolathletes ought to be given a routine drug test because it will help prevent them from abusing illegal substances. Such actions will also help detect cheaters who use performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) to get an edge over their opponents. On the other hand,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a drug testing system is set up for high school athletes, then those athletes who are tempted to use illegal substances will think twice before using them. Furthermore, those athletes that test positive for these substances will get suspended from their respective teams and this will create a healthier environment at least in high school sports. A routine drug testing system in high school will help detect cheaters who use performance enhancing drugs to get and edge over their opponents. In today s world, with the competitiveness and popularity of steroids and other PEDs among professional athletes, it is not difficult to believe that many high school athletes are doing the same. A 2003 study examining steroid use among teens in the United States showed that 6.1 percent had illegally used steroids and 3.2 percent had injected an illegal drug one or more times during their lifetime ( Teens and Drugs Fast Facts ). Nevertheless, if a routine drug testing system is established, those who are caught cheating will most likely get suspended or even banned from high school sports thus making the competitive field more leveled. In addition, those who are tempted to use performance enhancers will be less likely to in order to avoid the consequences. • 42. Characteristics And Weaknesses Of An Enterprise... 1. Given our studies of EA frameworks you are to identify five different criteria by which you can assess the strengths and weaknesses of the: TOGAF, FEA, LightWeight and Zachman framework. (50 points) Enterprise Architecture is an all inclusive approach to managing the complexity of IT from a business viewpoint. A framework is used to help describe how to create and use an EA, in a manner that delivers business benefit in a cost effective way. Each framework has a different approach to adding value to the business. These criteria will identify the ways an enterprise architecture framework adds business value, how adaptability and flexibility effect the overall adoption of an enterprise architecture framework, how the deliverables contribute to the success of an enterprise architecture, how does each framework take a strategic approach to reduce complexity of enterprise architecture, and how the framework encompasses the Software Development Lifecycle. The Zachman Framework considers that there may be different perspectives, however, each perspective considers the requirements of the other and the restraints those may impose. It also allows for different levels of complexity, depth, and breadth of details for each cell of the matrix based upon the importance to a given organization. The Zachman Framework can be used to set standards and is also easy to use with other tools and methodologies. TOGAF offers flexibility and is easily adaptable for any organization. It ... Darwin s theory of evolution questioned the validity of the creation story in the book of Genesis. The theory taught that through evolution humans would have the capability to solve problems and create peace, joy, freedom and abundance. In response, Protestant Liberalism emerged and taught that humans were free to think as they pleased. Gonzalez noted, Protestant Liberalism was an attempt to couch Christianity in the mold of those ideas, and gained wide acceptance among the intellectual elite in the U.S. . Although most liberals were Christians, there was a group of radical liberals called modernist who were not Christian. In addition, the modernist did not believe in the Bible, instead they believed the key to achievement was will power. According to Alister McGrath, The fundamental theme of modernism was its desire to control . Ruth allows her son and the neighborhood boys to come to the house to drink and smoke. While the boys are over Ruth abuses Megan, physically and emotionally in front of them. Megan is called a whore and is starved. Ruth beats up Susan and blames her beatings on Megan. The only person who tries to help Megan and Susan is David, the next door neighbor. One day Megan goes to the police and as punishment she is put in the cellar and is hung from the rafters. They all play this game of confession with her. Since she does not play along with the game they strip her, blindfold her, and put a gag in her mouth. Ruth invites all of the kids in the neighborhood to the cellar so they can burn, beat and cut her for their own amusement. The next day Megan gets raped by her cousin Willie while everyone watched. David tried to leave, but was forced to watch. Ruth heats up a needle and carves I fuck, fuck me on to Megan s stomach. Ruth decides in order for Megan to never want to be with a guy and for no guy to want her she needs to give Megan a clitorectomy with a blowtorch. Megan died from all the injuries caused by Ruth. The next morning David starts a fire in the cellar to get people s attention. Ruth sees that there is a fire and goes in to the cellar. David then beats Ruth until she s dead with a crutch. • 50. Resurgence Of Vinyl And Its Effects Keith Kain COMM 481 12/1/14 Resurgence of Vinyl If one were to mention vinyl records in a conversation today, they would likely be met with confusion and laughter. Vinyl records, like other relics from the past, are not often thought of when discussing music listening in 2014. Like cassettes and CD s, vinyl is frequently viewed as a remnant of a time when paying for music was mandatory and buying an album meant buying the whole album. However, for some listeners in 2014, this format is their preferred method of hearing their favorite music. Due to the nature of niche markets, it isn t very stunning that some collectors still delve into the past and listen on vinyl. However, it is extremely unusual for a niche market to increase in sales quite like vinyl has. In fact, from 2008 to 2014, vinyl sales have increased by 745%. In a time when music sales as a whole are dropping, how did vinyl go from selling less than one million records 20 years ago, to selling 6.1 million in 2013 alone? There are plenty of factors, including what is selling, who is buying, the tangibility factor, and the antipiracy counterculture. Vinyl records were one of the main formats to listen to music during most of the 1900 s. Many of those who listened to vinyl in the late 1900 s are still collecting vinyl today, or have passed down the hobby to their children. Nostalgic collectors will claim that the surface noise and warm audio quality of vinyl makes it unique and unmatched. However, as new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN PROFORMA INTRODUCTION/RATIONALE My classroom management philosophy My classroom management philosophy is evolved around the best way to facilitate knowledge to the students. All the students should have equal opportunity and access to learning within my classroom. I believe that students should have an element of fun and relaxation to make the students and teacher feel like a community. My teaching approach is authoritative/ democratic, using an instructional management plan, following an interactionist theory of teaching. I am heavily influenced by theorist Jacob Kounin where he believes that teachers prevent misbehavior through awareness in the classroom and by using effective lesson management techniques to influence student behavior. I believe that primary prevention is fundamental with dealing with classroom management, the key is the set the ground and to accommodate to those who need more attention such as student with unstable emotional behavior and learning disorder as students are increasingly showing signs of anxiety in classrooms. It is important to respect the student s dignity, enabling them to grow in confidence and to be comfortable within their classroom environment where positive classroom management strategies will be utilized I will introduce methods that best suit my students incorporating student interests and preferred activities with grounded classroom rules and procedures to accelerate their learning building their ...
