Cohesion refers to the attraction between like molecules, such as water molecules attracting to each other, which allows water to form droplets and surface tension. Adhesion is the attraction between different molecules, such as water sticking to leaves. These forces are important for processes like capillary action and transporting water in plants. Cohesion is caused by hydrogen bonding within water molecules, while adhesion occurs via electrostatic forces between different substances.

 Attraction between same molecules - Like water is attracted to water
molecules
 Hold hydrogen bond together to create surface tension

4. Adhesion
 Attraction between different molecules- water molecules
stick to other substances
 Attraction can be due H-bond, polar attraction, dipole-dipole
attraction

It occurs when adhesive forces is stronger than cohesive force

 helps to transport water in plants

of water to top of trees and drainage of tears from tear duct
in corner of eyes
