This is a presentation regarding Albert Ellis' REBT. Ellis' model teaches us to dispute irrational beliefs and replace them with rational ones to experience effective change.
Ben, an overweight 7th grader, struggled to keep up during gym class. He would stand on the side with his awkward classmate, and they bonded over trying to avoid physical activity. When Ben grew older, he was accepted to a few good colleges, but he kept dropping out of school. He hung out with his old friend from junior high, who was unsuccessfully attempting to get into medical school. The two of them took a look at themselves- college dropouts from a small town on Long Island- and decided that the one thing they excelled at was eating. Especially eating ice cream. Ben Cohen and his friend Jerry Greenfield sent $5 to Penn State University for a correspondence course on ice cream making. They pooled their savings and opened a small ice cream store, and named it Ben and Jerry's.
This presentation is my research on dealing with stress, anxiety and depression while I was going through a rough patch in life despite everything being good on paper, I wasn't happy and smiling was a struggle. Depression is a evil which doesn't even sho itself and fights from the shadows. People will move out on you just because they can't see a reason or a visual wound. Not many will even understand what and why you are the way you are yet the battle is constantly raging inside. On this star wars day... I wish you the best. MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!

Postscript - Life right now is still quite unsettled and paradoxically all of this happened while trying to settle it down with a purpose. I moved out of my structured super awesome job environment to achieve some personal goals that initially crashed me hard on the ground. In a lifetime of work, what would you do to be proud of? What would you do if you really want to make a difference? and what would you do to be able to say.. yes I did it! These questions needed answers. Mediocre isn't good, so I am giving this a thought and a perspective.

What are your basic assumptions about human nature?
My basic assumption about human nature is that even though none of us are perfect, we all strive for our own idea of perfection. By working too much towards how we think we should be it can cause stress, anxiety, depression and other mental health issues and often these are the root cause of them. Humans are beautifully imperfect and while, yes, oftentimes we all have behaviors to be altered, we need to embrace ourselves with love and kindness. It is easy to give someone else our love, patience and kindness, but if we turn that inward we can be the best version of ourselves, perfect or not.
Which approach to therapy is closest to your beliefs about human nature?
The therapy that is closest to my beliefs about human nature is existential therapy. "Existential therapy focuses on exploring themes such as mortality, meaning, freedom, responsibility, anxiety, and aloneness as these relate to a person’s current struggle." (Corey, 2013). Existential therapy looks at the bigger picture of humanity and encourages celebration and appreciation of our successes rather than focusing on downfalls.
In what ways do you believe that your basic assumptions might determine the procedures that you would use when working with clients?
My basic assumptions will help me to focus on the good in my clients and not the negative that they themselves may focus on. It will give me a better understanding of why people feel their own shortcomings and how to show them that there is good and valuable qualities in everyone.

When you look into the mirror, you are checking how you appear, and how you feel and whether it matches. Human nature is the sum of our whole species looking in the mirror. Human nature includes 3 core characteristics shared by all individuals; feelings, behaviors, and psychology. Our experiences with humans are different. Some view humans as good or bad or capable of great kindness. These views can be clouded by what our culture tells us and by people's influences in our lives. In western cultures, our discussions usually begin with classical Greece; Aristotle and Plato (Claudia, 2021).
My basic assumptions about human nature is that we can survive from our past and that humans are generally kind creatures and extremely resilient. I believe that humans construct their reality. They do not have to be destined to a certain life based solely on their past circumstances. We have the ability to overcome mountains of challenges with proper thinking and behaviors. We are responsible creatures for our choices and can therefore change and become something. I am proof of these assumptions. My teenage years were so bad that I lost my identity and lacked the proper social developments that most teens have. According to Corey, (2013.
Positive Thinking is about training the subconscious mind to deal with all the negativity that is around us. Our day to day performance depends greatly on how we perceive our environment and how positive are we in executing the job at hand. Our mental attitude delivers the desired result and even if the desired results do not come in our path our attitude to strive again and harder makes the result come our way. positive thinking is one step ahead in spirituality
Cognitive distortions are
Negative or irrational patterns of thinking.
Simply ways that Impostor Syndrome convinces us to believe things that aren’t really true.
Inaccurate thought patterns that
Reinforce our negative self perception and
Keep us feeling bad about ourselves
These negative thought patterns can play a role in
Diminishing our motivation,
Lowering our self-esteem
Contributing to problems like
Anxiety,
Depression, and
Substance use.

All or nothing thinking : If your performance falls short of perfection, you see yourself as a total failure Overgeneralization : You see a single negative event as a never-ending pattern of defeat Mental filters : you may dwell on a single negative event; until it distorts your view of things as they really are. You are apt to disqualify the positives in your experience because they “don’t count” Jumping to conclusions : You may generate negative interpretations of events before all the facts are in ‘ Catastrophizing’ : You may exaggerate the importance of negative events; or conversely, minimize the importance of positive events Emotional reasoning: You believe your bad feeling about events are an accurate reflection on how events really are—“I feel like a loser, so I must be” Personalization: You erroneously believe that you are the primary cause of negative events, you may not have responsibility for
Perhaps you have struggled with the thought that “this class won’t work; I tried to change my stress level but it seems only to get worse.” If you take hold of thoughts like this, or most other troubling thoughts, too often they can lead to disastrous consequences. You can very quickly and efficiently convince yourself that this thought (and others like it) must be true—“I think therefore I am!” If I tried and failed before, I ‘know’ it won’t work, then why bother to seek help at all. Thoughts and feelings can lead to judgments, which lead to actions, and actions lead to consequences.
