Car Cart Quotes
Lets go get a car cart! screamed Grant at the top of his lungs as his father put the car in park.
Wincing at the loud noise in a small enclosed car, he turned around to look at Grant. We ever
going to make inside voices a thing or should I just get hearing aids now? Seeing Grant s
confusion at his annoyed attempt at exaggeration, he added don t worry, we can go look for a
car cart. Just remember, inside voices buddy. ( removed HTML ) For the love of God, please one
day stop screaming constantly. ( removed HTML ) The duo embarked from their vehicle, holding
their reusable shopping bags, and started their walk into HEB. Grant referred to it as H....E...B!!!

Schizophrenia Is A Heterogeneous Illness
Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous illness that may involve several pathophysiological gender
differences. For men and women incidence risk peaks between 20 29 years of age, and women
also have a second risk peak between 30 39 years of age. Negative symptoms including low
motivation and withdrawal are more frequent in men and appear up to six years before diagnosis
(Hafner, 2005; Hafner et al., 1993; Morgan et al., 2008). Women exhibit greater levels of
depression and positive symptoms including sexual inappropriateness, impulsivity and delusions
(Mendrek et al., 2015; Van der Werf et al., 2014). Sex
differences in either age of onset or
prevalence of negative symptoms are not as evident in patients that have a family history of
schizophrenia (Bergen et al., 2014; Hafner et al., 1998).
Estrogen has been proposed to have a possible protective role that may account for a later age of
disease onset in women, when levels are lowest during post response rates to antipsychotic drugs
are also higher in women menopause (Allen et al., 2013; Hafner, 2005; Leung M.D. Chue M. R.
C. Psych., 2000; Ochoa et al., 2012). Obstetric complications have also been connected with an
increased risk of developing schizophrenia, an earlier age of disease onset, poorer outcomes and
ventricular enlargement. Such complications appear to be more frequent and severe in males than
females. (Allen et al., 2013; Dalman et al., 1999; Kelly et al., 2004). Prenatal exposure to influenza

Tomboy Research Paper
It s abundantly clear that there are distinct physical differences among the sexes, however women
and men have been taught and thrown into a structural system that has brainwashed us into
believing that based on what sexual organ you so happened to be born with you must follow the
guidelines throughout life to fulfill that particular gender. Growing up as a femalein society you are
taught that barbies, baby dolls, Polly pockets, playing dress up, and liking the color pink is
essential to being a proper girl and that taking a fancy to hot wheels, action figures, and Pokemon
cards is considered wrong and you automatically get labeled a tomboy. Although, the word tomboy

Everywhere we go, everything we buy, everything we see is gender based, from shaving cream,
children s toys at fast food restaurants, clothes, shampoos, and much much more. Unfortunately,
and realistically these stereotypes and roles will never disappear completely, due to the fact that
there will always be the presence of people who choose to reject the modern day upbringing,
close minded people are the only thing holding our generation back from blossoming into a
world of equality. With that said, take this as an eye opener to educate yourself on issues
involving PEOPLE, take interests in social problems involving PEOPLE, and take a genuine
concern towards the well beings of our PEOPLE. Once we open our hearts and minds we will
soon gravitate towards a less structured and uncomfortable environment. Nothing is set in stone, if
we break through these set rules, together we can demolish stereotypes and compose a superior,

Elements Of Effective Organization Organizations
Elements of Effective Organizations Every organization strives to become a high performing
organization. The essential elements of effective organizations include a practical business
structure, an excellent communication strategy, competent managers, and influential leaders. The
elements of success are the same for all organizations; however, the process of incorporating the
elements are different because every organization is unique. Organizational Structure Effective
organizational structures define how job tasks are subdivided, grouped, coordinated, and managed.
Six key components of organizational structures include division of labor, departmentalization,
chain of command, span of control, centralization, and formalization (Remme, Jones, Van der
Heijden, De Bono, 2008, p. 79). Each element influence how employees interact with each other to
reach organizational goals. Different structures are common in similar organizations among high
performing organizations (Reimann, 1974, p. 707). The most appropriate structure will depend on
the unique needs and culture of the organization. The division of labor dictates the degree to which
responsibilities are subdivided into separate units. It is communicated through job descriptions, and
ensures each employee has specific duties to perform based on their work experience, education,
and capability. Departmentalization determines which jobs are grouped together to create
departments. Functional Departmentalization is

Christmas, 2009 Essay
Since I was a child I have always been very excited and waiting patiently for Christmas to arrive
because I always thought on Christmas as an occasion when the family gets together. And this past
year (2009) was not different from the others; I was very excited waiting for Christmas. Especially,
because I was going to spend this holiday in Mexico with my grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins,
but all that emotion did not take me to a Christmasfull of joy as the past years. Christmas was very
important to me because it was Camila s (my daughter) first time in Mexico, but after this holiday,
the way I appreciated and treated my familychanged. After Christmas 2009, I learned to value my

When I saw my brothers and mom boarding the plane, it felt to me as if a piece of my heart was
leaving with them, in the same plane. However, in the midst of this feeling, there was also some
comprehension because I knew that there was no other option to prevent this separation. I saw
the three of them walking heading to the plane with destination to Colorado; far, very far away
from me and the rest of my family. During their walk to the plane, each one of those steps they
gave were like laughs of joy that were leaving out with the rhythm of their steps. So, step after
step were just as less and less joy, until I could not see my mom and brothers anymore and that was
when I let my sadness came out accompanied with tears. That moment completely changed the
emotion with which I expected Christmas. It was as if the girl who waited impatiently for
Christmas had disappeared along with the laughter of joy that disappeared following the rhythm of
the footsteps of my mom and brothers walking to board the plane.
Christmas evening! Another lesson that this holiday taught me was to value more my mom and
my dad because it was so hard to feel how life is without my parents. I say this because in
Christmas day I decided to stay with my grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins from my mom s side,
but my dad told me that he was going to spend this holiday with his mom and the rest of his
family. When I heard those words coming out of his mouth was like if his words

An Analysis of the Challenges Facing the Arctic Ocean
The Arctic is a covers a vast expanse of the Earth. It is touched by 8 different countries, including
Russia and the United States. It is an area of extreme economic and scientific interest, being one of
the last frontiers not yet completely explored or conquered on planet Earth. Can the Arctic be both
an economic powerhouse and an ecological preserve? The answer to this question is yes, it is
possible, but it would be extremely difficult. If the arctic becomes an economic powerhouse, it
will be difficult for it to remain an ecological reserve, and if it become an ecological preserve it
can not become as much of an economic powerhouse. The arctic becoming ... Show more content

If the arctic becomes an area that is open for business for anyone to mine, drill or fish in it is
likely that the habitats of many different species of wildlife will be damaged. Oil spills can
severely hurt many species of bird and fish which live in the Arctic, as well as the animals which
prey on them, and as there is currently no surefire way to fix or contain an underwater oil spill if
it happens, along with the limited infrastructure currently in the Arctic, the results of one could be
disastrous for the Arctic s ecosystem. Over half of all of the United State s fish supply comes
from the Arctic Many areas of the Arctic already are being hurt by illegal fishing and unprofitable
overfishing, which could be curbed if major countries would stop providing subsidies to
unprofitable fishing

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s Art Collection
The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s art collection blends history and culture to aesthetically
define a single individual: Isabella Stewart Gardner. From the Mosaic Floor: Medusa of the inner
courtyard, to The Coronation of Hebe (Paolo Veronese) on the ceiling of the third floor Veronese
Room, Gardner determined every inch of both the interior and exterior of the structure housing her
personal collection of masterpieces. This museum was specifically designed to resemble a 15th
century Venetian palazzo, inspired from the city that captured Gardner s heart and ultimate vision
of her legacy (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum). Assisted by Renaissance revival architect,
Willard T. Sears, the palazzo like structure was realized in its full glory, albeit Renaissance
ornamentation had no logical place in early 20th century Boston, Massachusetts. However, Isabella
Stewart Gardners fascination with the Renaissance was not solely because the works and buildings
were visually pleasing. A palazzo, for a wealthy family, was a lasting symbol of status. Gardner s
choice to create a museum inspired by this Renaissance structure demonstrates how this
Renaissance mindset can be translated into her modern context when crafting her own legacy.
The exterior of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is drastically more modest than the interior. In
the same fashion as the traditional palazzos of the Renaissance, the masonry is smooth and
understated. The flat roof resembles that of the Palazzo

Situation Of Indigenous People In Canada
Debate Response # 2
Do you feel the government is doing enough to address the situation of indigenous people in
Canada?
The simple answer to this question is no. However, many situations, history, and aspects, acts and
laws, need to be taken into consideration to have a full understanding of what the government has
done and has not done to help the indigenous people in Canada. It must also be noted that many of
the things the government implemented to help, actually backfired and caused more harm than
good. The Indian Act was established to ensure that First Nations individuals received protection
and certain consideration under Canadian laws (White, 84). However, this act in many ways caused
more harm than good. Residential schools were

Magna Carta Research Paper
The Magna Carta was a charter in 1215 that gave rights to protect its subjects from King John and
his oppressive rulings. It contained sixty three clauses that detailed everything from land rights to
legal rights. This document gave protection to the people from the tyrant King and placed no man
above the law, not even the king. Unfortunately, the document failed with civil war ensuing months
later.
King John was excommunicated from the church in 1209 for seizing church property and selling it
back to the church at a profit. He then used these funds to build an English Navy to invade Ireland
in 1210. He then furthered his exhibition to invade Poitou, France and after a humiliating defeat to

oppressing regime stemming from Henry II. After the failed attempt to infiltrate Northampton
castle, the people of London opened their gate to let them in. Thus, leading to the signing of the
Magna Carta.
The Magna Carta is typical of the era because, people were tired of being oppressed by a tyrant.
This is evident in a writing by Matthew Paris, Foul as it is, hell itself is made fouler by the
presence of King John. The writing is also specific to its time, the document was written in Old
English. The subject of the document was a series of clauses to ensure that not even the king was

This work was considerably unusual for its time, because the king had always been the Judge
and the Jury. The people were his subjects and the people were subjected to his rulings. A king
could levy taxes at any rate from his subjects to support his war efforts. But, as stated in the
Magna Carta under the 12th clause it states No scutage (money levied for war) or aid may be

The Journalism Feeds On Curiosity
Journalism feeds on curiosity. One week I am fact checking a story on rock climbing for Outside
magazine, and the next week I find myself on top of a 40 foot wall. Every news assignment
becomes a crash course in a new subject. Every idea for a feature leads to twenty more questions
and ten more stories. Journalismis an addictive adventure an adventure I ve known I wanted to
pursue since I was in kindergarten. Yet instead of feeling like I ve been stuck on the same career
path for 16 years, I feel like each day, each article, is a new venture. I am pursuing a master s in
International Politics at Trinity College Dublin because the heart of journalism isn t in the writing
or the editing it s how well you know the topics on which you are reporting.
Shortly after entering college, I found a second love in political science, and my academic interests
began to merge with my passion for the news. I am now working toward a career as political
reporter, and more specifically, an international correspondent who serves to connect readers in the
U.S. to European news. Ultimately, I hope to be the chief of a news bureau in a large European
capital such as Dublin or Belfast. My interest in foreign policy and international affairs sparked
even more adventures, from researching education policy in Santiago, Chile, to nervously teaching
a room of fellow undergraduates for the first time.

Moral Dilemmas In Remember The Titans
Good morning Mr Harrop and fellow peers. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral
dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language
and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and
ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin,
2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by
facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. Alongside the writer Gregory Allen
Howard, they have utilized textual structures, language features and visual features to influence the
audience s response. Remember The Titans follows the problem... Show more content on

He seems to want the audience to respond with shock and sympathy as they witness how vile
the black people are treated. One of the few racism dilemma s is shown after Gerry, Alan and
Ray are returned to the high school after coach Yoast stops them from joining the city riots.
Infuriated with the black people fighting back, Gerry instigates the racism and discrimination,
snarling, Hell why don t you just kick em all off the team. I don t wanna play with any of them
black animals. This scene was very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots
to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst reinforcing Yakin s message that black people were treated
poorly and erratically. After Gerry s disastrous car accident, Coach Boone is faced with the moral
dilemma of selfishness. Boone has always been a coach who strives to win, not only for himself,
but for the team, however after the accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about
what he wants. When he suggests that the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes
so that they can win, Yoast feels that Boone is being selfish and lacking consideration of the team

Ryanair
Ryanair The low fares airline: Whither now?
Main Problems
Ryanair s growth rate is affected by macroeconomic factors such as the recession, as seen in 2010
when Ryanair saw a 200% increase in profit and traffic growth, as the low fares became attractive
for those suffering from the current climate. Uncertainty still remains regarding the economic
climate; problems would arise if it continued, as passengers would reduce spending restricting the
company s passenger volume growth. If the economic climate was to grow, business and leisure
passengers may choose to pay more and travel with a full service airline, this could consequently
result in demand for low cost flights to drop.
One of the greatest concerns is fuel prices the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If it were to be successful Ryanair would have to change their strategy, as it would not be able to
keep low costs, as passenger on long haul flights would want the additional add ons at no extra
price. This would result in increased price and pose a challenge for Ryanair to maintain cost
leadership.
Possible Solutions
Ryanair should expand in the EU, by increasing flight frequency and flights expansion especially
in Eastern Europe. One way they can do this is to purchase WizzAir, an airline that already has
major bases and routes in Eastern Europe. This would gain an advantage over competitors such as
easy jet who currently have no bases there, thereby maintaining cost leadership.
Strategic alliances should be put in place so Ryanair can achieve an extensive geographic network,
with bases placed strategically around Europe airports. By consolidating with Norwegian airlines
and creating a strategic partnership, with a percentage in each other s shares would allow for
greater scope and assurance from the unpredictable economic conditions.
Swift market responses need to be made by Ryanair, such as capitalising on the failure of other
European airline by opening new routes on their existing failed ones, this will achieve greater
economics of scale and thus costs fall. Ryanair should continue to look at the many airlines that
have a limited geographic area

United States Department Of Justice And The Securities And...
The United States Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission rarely
enforced the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, enacted in 1977, until 2010 over a decade since its
modern reform in 1998. This surge in penalization of unethical acts such as bribery and other
methods used to ensure foreign business ventures has been called a new era of FCPA
enforcement by the DOJ, resulting in $1.8 billion in payments accrued from domestic firms and
their foreign partners, compared to $300,000 in 2000 (Kohler). Because of ambiguity within the
legislation, especially the undefined terms foreign official and obtain or retain business, the U.S.
government is able to manipulate the FCPA for monetary gain, as well as shape foreign
economies based upon their own values. The FCPA was composed with good intentions: to end
corrupt trade and to create a more even playing field for American businesses. With that goal in
mind, the Act is seemingly viewed as a normative standard to promote fairness, asserting that
transparency and accountability are essential to building an honest and open global society.
However the unclear articulation of the texts have developed inconsistencies in the way the FPCA
is enforced, allowing organizations such as the SEC to utilize its broadness to target businesses,
namely through the agencies interpretation of who a foreign official is and what it means to obtain
or retain business. Firstly, according to the SEC, a foreign official is anyone

Effect Of Solute On The Production Of Magnesium Alloys
Effect of solute addition on grain refinement in cast magnesium alloys.
1.Introduction:
Magnesium is 30% lighter than aluminum and possesses excellent mechanical properties. It has
higher weight to strength ratio, damping capacity, dimensional stability, impact and dent resistance
when compared to aluminum alloys or steel alloys. These properties have increased the usage of
magnesium alloys in the automotive and aerospace industry for weight reduction. But magnesium
alloys are often associated with some limitations such as low ductility, lower strength, poor
workability (due to hexagonal lattice structure), lower creep resistance and lower corrosion
resistance. Alloying with rare earth metals like Gadolinium, neodymium and cerium have ... Show

1.2Melt treatment during casting process:
Inoculation is the successful melt treatment to achieve the grain refinement. Inoculation is referred
to the addition of grain refiners or solute elements to restrict grain growth and promote
heterogeneous nucleation. Further magnesium alloys are categorized into two types in inoculation
treatment. One is aluminum free alloy and other is aluminum bearing alloy. It is observed that
adding 0.15 wt.% zirconium during inoculation of pure magnesium leads to reduction of 80% of
the grain growth [1 21]. However if zirconium is added to the alloys having aluminum, it formed
intermetallic phases with aluminum and loses its grain refining properties. Since most commonly
used magnesium alloy in the casting is Mg Al alloy, there has been an extensive research on the
solute elements for the Mg Al alloys for achieving the grain refinement. Some of the solute element
s effect on the grain refinement are discussed in this review paper.
1.2.1Effect of manganese on the grain refinement in Mg Al based alloys:
Manganese has been used as iron remover in the magnesium alloys [4 4]. Tiner [4 5] had
investigated the effect of 0.19% or more of Mn in Mg Al alloys and found that superheating has

Example Of Phonological Awareness
Phonological awareness is the learning of different sounds, words and syllables learnt through
listening and speaking (Gillon, 2004). Phonological awareness is important for children in early
childhood to learn to establish their reading and writing skills (Hill, 2012, 160). The way
children learn phonological awareness is through word play, stretching sounds, repeat ion,
rhymes and song (Hill, 2012, p. 134; Roger Scenter, 2013).Phoneme awareness is a smaller area
considered as part of phonological awareness, phoneme awareness focuses on individual sounds
that effect understanding (Hill, 2012, p. 134). An example of phoneme awareness would be the

Leni Riefenstahl Essay
Leni Riefenstahl s rise to prominence is multifaceted and her background, context and
circumstances all contributed significantly to her notoriety. She is regarded as one of the most
controversial and influential figures in the world of cinematography, and due to the growth of the
film industry in Germany during the Weimer Republic, the continual influence of the
expressionistic and nationalistic genre and the auspicious event that kindled her fascination with
filmmaking, she became a rising star .
Leni Riefenstahl was born on the 22nd of August 1902 in Berlin, to Alfred Riefenstahl, a plumber,

was one of the biggest and most successful in Europe. It was known as the Golden Age in cinema

hundreds of films were produced. It was the experimental age of film with new technologies and
techniques in lighting, camera angles and shot composition and due to the invention of sound,
German film production came to rival that of Hollywood in both output and artistic merit. The
German film industry saw international recognition due to their revolutionary expressionistic films

most notable film that fully exemplified this genre was, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari , produced

Ongoing Urbanization Is Changing the Shape of Mobility in...
In densely populated areas, we currently see a paradigm shift in personal mobility. For the younger
generation, car usership is gradually replacing the need of car ownership.
However, for example, when relying on car sharing solutions, users often spontaneously drive cars
they are not used to. Results are increased stress and a higher risk of accidents. For that reason, we
present a mobile application based training solution for vehicular user interfaces. The evaluation of
the training application has shown that a short training cannot counteract the negative influence of
operating comfort car functions while driving. The use of game design elements in the application
in creased the training motivation, but also lowered the information reception. The ongoing
urbanization is changing the shape of mobility in tomorrow s cities. Especially in large and
congested cities, the need of owning a car is gradually decreasing with the rise of new intermodal
door to door mobility solutions. In a recent survey by KPMG 1 , only 46 % of younger consumers
( 25 years) rated that owning a car is extremely or very important for them, opposed to 76 % for 25
to 35 years and
78 % for 35 to 50 years old consumers. For the younger generation, mobility has to fulfil the three
key aspects spon taneity, flexibility, and sustainability [1]. In order to fulfil the demands, modern
mobility as a service (MaaS) solutions have to combine public transportation with means of
individual transportation. One

Analysis Of Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Fast forward three years and it is easy to see what dramatic change came about in The Beatles style.
In 1968 The Beatles released their White Album. This album took them into a transcendental era of
the psychedelic movement, where drug fueled experimentation with heavy beats and intense topics
became the focus of their music. Happiness Is A Warm Gun is a musical masterpiece that combined
The Beatles new found music style, edgy, risky lyrics, and an underlying undertone that many
viewed as inappropriate for the public audience.
The song opens musically with only a guitar playing a riff behind the vocals. The song sounds to be
in C major, but the opening sounds to be in a minor key. This song seems like it is three different
songs woven together through intense beats and time signature changes. The beginning is 4/4 but
changes to 3/4 and 2/4 throughout the songs entirety. If I separated the song into three parts,
different tempos and instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by
drums and short chord strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the
tempo change and an intense guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of
cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps. The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and
a milder use of the cymbal, while still maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is
maintained throughout the whole song.
A syncopated melody can be heard

Cognitive Theories Of Cognitive Behavioral Theories
Cognitive behavioral theories theorize that human behavior is caused by internal or mental events,
and in addition to external events proposed by behavioral theories. Research suggests that cognitive
behavioral theories have shifted their focus, as seen in the first, second, and third waves of the
theories. For example, initially the focus of cognitive theories was on identifying and changing
maladaptive thoughts. However, recent models of cognitive theories seek to help people evaluate,
and change their thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions. In addition, these newer models of cognitive
behavioral theories seek to help clients understand the interactional nature of their thoughts and
behaviors (Jones Butman, 2012). Conversely, at the core of cognitive behavioral theories is the
assumption that human behavior is affected by cognitive activities. In addition, cognitive
behavioral therapists theorize that human behavior can be monitored and altered, and also human
behavior can be changed through rational change (Hersen Gross, 2008). Philosophical Assumptions
Studies show that cognitive behavioral theories do not have explicit philosophical assumption.
However, concepts of cognitive behavioral theory are associated with assumptions from a critical
rationalism standpoint. At the core of critical rationalism is the belief that knowledge is only
gained by falsifying hypotheses derived from scientific theories. Overall, knowledge is seen as
objective and not subjective.

Zen And Pure Land Buddhism
A brief comparison between Zen and Pure Land Buddhism, both of these are very popular amongst
the Vietnamese community. The word Zen has been used many times in the West, due to the hard
work of Japanese culture; Zen Buddhism does not have a strong influence as that of the Pure Land
Buddhism. Also in the school of Zen, they reject claims of scriptural authority and embrace many
different practices . Zen Buddhismrests on claims to an exclusive lineage that has been passed
down from teacher to disciple in a succession from Shakyamuni , or the historical Buddha , all
the way to the present day. Zen Buddhism and Pure Land Buddhism are just schools of practice.
The difference is mainly in practice. Buddhism, in general, does not worship what you call Gods ,
but their existences are acknowledged as a heavenly being of intense merits and blessings, often
with the leadership of qualities of that sort. Other cases of belief, Gods may or may not be
acknowledged. However, this is hardly accurate to the whole of the Buddha Dharma. Zen Buddhism
is the focus of meditation to attain enlightenment. This is the practice of sitting in stillness,
focusing on single mindedness and investigating Zen. Whereas, Pure Land Buddhism is the focus
of reciting Amitabha. However, recitation of Buddha s name can cause one to enter Samadhi. It
employs the single minded focus that aims for in Zen meditation. Pure Land s main goal was from

Experiment 1
Experiment 1 is a partial conceptual replication of Collins and Quillian s (1969) study on the
hierarchy network model for the organization of semantic memory. The purpose of experiment 1
was to test Collins and Quillian s hypothesis stating that response time for category searching
should be slower as a function of an increasing number of levels separating a category subject and it
s predicate term on the semantic hierarchy model. We use the same basic procedure as Collins and
Quillian s experiment, except that we utilize a single category for predicate terms as opposed to
multiple categories at level 2 of the semantic hierarchy model.
Method
Participants and Apparatus. 23 NYU students, taking lab in human cognition, received course credit
for their participation in the experiment. The experiment was administered on standard PC s or
Macintosh computers over a single class period.
Design and Stimuli. The experiment was run using a within subject design, and consisted of one
independent variable. The independent variable is the number of levels in the hierarchy
separating the subject and predicate terms. There are three levels of the independent variable 0
levels of separation, 1 level of separation, and 2 levels of separation. The type of sentence stimulus
presented to subjects, whether it was defined by a property or a superset , was an additional factor
taken into account when analyzing the data. Stimuli consisted of 144 TRUE and FALSE sentences

Prescription Over Counter Drugs Essay
Prescription and over the counter drugs. If you asked the vast majority of people in the US if
there a problem with more of the well known prescription and over the counter drugs they would
tell you no. Take ibuprofen for example, many people think that this drug is absolutely safe with
only a very small chance of it harming you in any way. But just last year the FDA has strengthen
the warning on all NSAID s. NSAID s stand for non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs, and
ibuprofenlands in that category. While many people don t take medicine that say ibuprofen many
you might be taking something like Motrin or Advil, and these to fall into the category of NSAID

know that abusing the big drugs like cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines, but a small minority

My Narrative Figure Skating
When I was young, I fell in love with competitive figure skating. The ice was my second home,
and every minute I spent on it was pure bliss. By the time I was ten, I had practices four times a
week and several competitions a year. Unfortunately, my path to success did not leave me
unscathed. I had many falls and accidents over the years, and getting back up was almost never
easy. The worst accident occurred when I was first starting to skate. I was four years old, and it
led to my parents almost taking me off of the iceforever. It was a Wednesday. At the time, I only
had practice on Wednesday nights and Sunday mornings. I had just gotten my own skates so I
wouldn t have to rent them from the rink. They still gave me blisters since they weren t broken in,
but I didn t care about the painwhen I was flying on the ice. I put on my skates and hobbled over
to my teacher. The ice had just been run over by the Zamboni. It shined like a lake of still water.
My instructor, Kelsey, told us all to work on our falls as soon as we got on the ice. I got with my
partner and worked on my falling and getting up. We had been practicing for about five minutes
when I took a bad angle on my way down. My wrists slipped out from under me when I tried to
correct myself and my chin slammed into the ice.
Everything went black for a moment and all I could hear was my own heart. When my vision
started to return, I saw Kelsey standing over me and asking if I was okay. I couldn t move my jaw

The novel Peter Pan by J. M. Barrie illustrates how Peter Pan, an aggressive
adolescent, attempts the abduction of younger male children in order to bring them to his

expeditions and as soldiers in a youthful gang. In an unusual phenomenon, Mr. Pan brings
Wendy, a young female, to his island in order that she might tell him and his lost boysabout
the tale of Cinderella and to be their mother. In chapter 6, readers observe that Peter Pan is

However, Peter himself is too slothful to learn how to sew and too proud to tuck his own
children into bed. Mr. Pan s selfishness controls his actions which then influence his
compassion. In these minute instances, we can see his true character and his true adoration
show. Towards the end of the novel, Peter returns only once to Wendy after she left
Neverland. This may be because he has realized that she no longer cares to serve him as
she once did. She will no longer be his mother, rather a friend. This does not please him, and
he returns once after, to steal Jean, Wendy s daughter, as a new mother. Peter Pan s
ignorance and cruel leadership is a sign that he does not care for Wendy as a person, rather
as a product or as something to aid him. Mr. Pan sees Wendy beneficial for story telling, for
being his mother, and for serving him. In Peter Pan, readers are shown the cruelty that an
innocent child can impact upon a multitude of fellow

,when financing their projects, first finance by internal equity followed by debt issues, and finally
by external equity . New stock is issued at last option. This hierarchical order is fundamental to the
packing order theory. If a firm issue new stock at first place then pecking order theory does not
hold. The pecking order theory also implies that more profitable firms naturally prefer internal
financing they would finance their new projects without issuing debt or equity

Why Is Methylmercury Wrong

Hazardous Chemical Project: Mercury Poisoning
Mercury poisoning around the world spread dangerously into the waters and into foods that people
ate, especially fish, creating not only health issues, but also environmental issues. Dietary exposure
to methylmercury is the most common type of mercury exposure. Methylmercury is an organic
form that is found in fish, contaminating them (Gerdes, 2006). Methylmercury was created when
elemental mercury got into rivers, lakes, and oceans, therefore forming mercury poisoning in many
types of fish. Even though fish contained many good vitamins, minerals, and protein, fish attracted
methylmercury, which was extremely toxic to organ of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There would be many people who would state that mercury came naturally from the Earth, and not
just from pollution. Mercury is an issue to the environment when it s released from rock and goes
into the atmosphere and water, which happens naturally, for example volcanoes and forest fires
(Basic Information about Mercury, 2016). Not only that, there was no stop to natural mercury
appearing into the environment and affecting the fish. The American Chemical Society questioned,
We have about tripled the mercury in the atmosphere, and therefore it should be tripled in the
ocean, right? But maybe mercury that occurs in fish is a natural thing, and it may have been there
all along (2003). The cause occurs, shown from the image to the right, how mercury was converted
into monomethyl mercury that affected the fish just as similar as the factories. However, mercury
poisoning in fish was still impacting the environment in a negative way, though there were different
causes of it. From the American Chemical Society, Morel described that the increase of pollution
did not cause the high levels of methylmercury in the fish, but instead from a natural source. He
suggested that it could be from hydrothermal vents and deep ocean sediments (2003). On the other
hand, the environment that humans created influenced the contamination of mercury into the
waters and into fish. For example, coal fired plants were a major cause that affected the
environment. Since mercury exists naturally in coal, the largest source of mercury pollution was
from coal fired power plants (Main, 2009). Cement kilns, chlor alkali plants, trash incinerators, and
gold mining are just some of the ways that humans influenced mercury poisoning into the
environment (Main, 2009). Human activities were still the most responsible for the amount of
mercury released into the environment. The mercury in the air could fall to the

the worst when the religious authority takes hold of the case and began setting up trials for heresy
against those who were accused. In its adoption of the Salem witch hunt trial, the crucible is a

Pilgrim s Progress By John Bunyan
1) Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan is an infamous Christian allegory and wildly considered to be
the first great book of the non secular English language. After the Bible, it was the most read book
for centuries. Bunyan wrote it based on his largely Baptist, often Calvinist theology. This is evident
in Pilgrim s Progress through the name choices of the main characters and his conversation with
Ignorance regarding reaching the Celestial City. The major points which are total depravity,
unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of saints. Total
depravity states that all mean are inherently sinners, unconditional election entails that certain

Christian tries to correct him and explain that there is only one way to the Celestial City, and his
deeds do not matter. Due to the doctrines of Predestination and Total Depravity, Christian is correct
under Calvinism. Since Ignorance is inherently a sinner, and not elect, he is unable to accept God
s grace and enter the Celestial City by means of his own path according to the concept of Total
Depravity. However, one way that Pilgrim s Progress contradicts Calvinist theory is when
Christian is reading his bible at the very beginning and confesses to his family that he is worried
for their safety because fire from Heaven will soon obliterate the city that they live in and he doesn
t know how to save them. This is contradictory to Calvinism because Christian should inherently
know that he cannot. Since God has preordained everything that will ever happen, Christian cannot
save his family unless that was already been in God s plan. Pilgrim s Progress largely exemplifies
Calvinist ideology throughout the text with each new character that Christian meats. Bunyan made
his viewpoint very clear every everyone of his literary decisions from what the characters shall be
named to how they go about their journeys. Although there are a few nuances that seem less than
Calvinistic, such as Christian s worries at the beginning, for the most part it stats true to the Calvin
course.

Importance Of Reading In My Life
Life In Between The Pages Everybody reads. Everybody has picked up a book at least once in
their life and flipped through its pages. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do
they feel an indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young
adulthood, reading has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me
because as a child, I was very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I
often turned to books to fuel my urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very
young age because I read as if I was living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my
joy of reading continued to flourish. The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged,
and the genres broadened and the vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in
my life since the very beginning and helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has
influenced my personality directly, and the close relationship I hold with literature. If we are
going to be reflecting on the impact literature has had on me as a person, it would make the most
logical sense to rewind all the way back to the earliest point of reading in my life. Childhood. I
learned to read the same way most children did, in Kindergarten. There I was taught letters and the
sounds that they made, and from there, to put two sounds together to form a word. I caught on

How Do Cats And Mice Become Enemies

Those two legends are called, Catand Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac and How cats and
mice became enemies. I would first like to explain to you some of the similarities. The first
similarity is that both of the rodents bribed the cat with fish. It s like they had a plan all along,
and they knew that she would be lured into the plan if there was fish involved. Another similarity
in the two legends, is that they both travelled across a wide river. In the legend, Cat and Rat: The

mouse and the other is a rat. Also in one story, the cat and rat rode on a buffalo. In the other story
though, the cat and mouse rode in a hollowed out pumpkin. Another difference between the two
legends is the number of characters. In the enemy story there s only 2 characters; the cat and the
mouse. But in the other story, there was probably just a little over 12 characters. So that was a big
difference. The third difference is that one of the rodents did something to the cat on purpose,
while the other rodent did it on accident. The rat purposely did what he did to the cat. But the
mouse was just misunderstood and didn t mean to do what he did to the cat. This paragraph has the

Personal Reflection For Personal Assignment
The purpose behind this assignment from my own understanding is for a couple of reasons. One
of them is to help improve and practice report writings/responses, while another reason is to
express what we believe our strengths and weaknesses will be in this chosen career path. This
assignment is beneficial because it will prepare us for future writing assignments in the program,
and betterunderstand how we will be graded. It will also help us reflect on what skills we think we
can bring to the table, along with weaknesses we can improve on. It will be a useful assignment
to reflect on my own personal strengths, and will be a beneficial tool to my success in this
program. This career choice (specifically EMS dispatching) is something I m hoping I could be
exceptional at because of my experience working as an EMT. I attended PMA in 2014 where I
learned a variety of useful skills from great instructors that could easily crossover to dispatching.
I then mastered these skills out on the field, working hand in hand with Emergency Services! I
like to think with this experience I can bring quick decision making skills to the table; as well as
limited medical knowledge for certain situations when necessary. I have experience in triaging,
and can handle stressful situations exceptionally well while staying emotionally detached. In
fact, nothing was more thrilling to me then heading to a call full lights and sirens! There s no
better feeling than conquering those tough decisions, and knowing you ve done all you can to
help someone. I also bring excellent communication skills to the table due to my large
personality and theatre experience in high school. When I say large personality, I don t mean it
in an obnoxious way. It s more so in a personable way, where I love talking to people and am
outgoing. It s helpful to have when your trying to keep someone on the phone during a tough
call, or when you need to keep a person calm in a stressful situation. It s important to be able to
talk to people without being shy or nervous, and having them feel like they can trust and rely on
you. This is also an important skill to have when you work alongside other coworkers, you need to
be able to speak up and get along with your peers

  • 3. Schizophrenia Is A Heterogeneous Illness Schizophrenia is a heterogeneous illness that may involve several pathophysiological gender differences. For men and women incidence risk peaks between 20 29 years of age, and women also have a second risk peak between 30 39 years of age. Negative symptoms including low motivation and withdrawal are more frequent in men and appear up to six years before diagnosis (Hafner, 2005; Hafner et al., 1993; Morgan et al., 2008). Women exhibit greater levels of depression and positive symptoms including sexual inappropriateness, impulsivity and delusions (Mendrek et al., 2015; Van der Werf et al., 2014). Sex differences in either age of onset or prevalence of negative symptoms are not as evident in patients that have a family history of schizophrenia (Bergen et al., 2014; Hafner et al., 1998). Estrogen has been proposed to have a possible protective role that may account for a later age of disease onset in women, when levels are lowest during post response rates to antipsychotic drugs are also higher in women menopause (Allen et al., 2013; Hafner, 2005; Leung M.D. Chue M. R. C. Psych., 2000; Ochoa et al., 2012). Obstetric complications have also been connected with an increased risk of developing schizophrenia, an earlier age of disease onset, poorer outcomes and ventricular enlargement. Such complications appear to be more frequent and severe in males than females. (Allen et al., 2013; Dalman et al., 1999; Kelly et al., 2004). Prenatal exposure to influenza 5 months before birth ... Tomboy Research Paper It s abundantly clear that there are distinct physical differences among the sexes, however women and men have been taught and thrown into a structural system that has brainwashed us into believing that based on what sexual organ you so happened to be born with you must follow the guidelines throughout life to fulfill that particular gender. Growing up as a femalein society you are taught that barbies, baby dolls, Polly pockets, playing dress up, and liking the color pink is essential to being a proper girl and that taking a fancy to hot wheels, action figures, and Pokemon cards is considered wrong and you automatically get labeled a tomboy. Unfortunately, and realistically these stereotypes and roles will never disappear completely, due to the fact that there will always be the presence of people who choose to reject the modern day upbringing, close minded people are the only thing holding our generation back from blossoming into a world of equality. With that said, take this as an eye opener to educate yourself on issues involving PEOPLE, take interests in social problems involving PEOPLE, and take a genuine concern towards the well beings of our PEOPLE. Once we open our hearts and minds we will soon gravitate towards a less structured and uncomfortable environment. • 6. Elements Of Effective Organization Organizations Elements of Effective Organizations Every organization strives to become a high performing organization. The essential elements of effective organizations include a practical business structure, an excellent communication strategy, competent managers, and influential leaders. The elements of success are the same for all organizations; however, the process of incorporating the elements are different because every organization is unique. Organizational Structure Effective organizational structures define how job tasks are subdivided, grouped, coordinated, and managed. Six key components of organizational structures include division of labor, departmentalization, chain of command, span of control, centralization, and formalization (Remme, Jones, Van der Heijden, De Bono, 2008, p. 79). Each element influence how employees interact with each other to reach organizational goals. Different structures are common in similar organizations among high performing organizations (Reimann, 1974, p. 707). The most appropriate structure will depend on the unique needs and culture of the organization. The division of labor dictates the degree to which responsibilities are subdivided into separate units. It is communicated through job descriptions, and ensures each employee has specific duties to perform based on their work experience, education, and capability. Departmentalization determines which jobs are grouped together to create departments. Functional Departmentalization is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

And this past year (2009) was not different from the others; I was very excited waiting for Christmas. Especially, because I was going to spend this holiday in Mexico with my grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins, but all that emotion did not take me to a Christmasfull of joy as the past years. When I saw my brothers and mom boarding the plane, it felt to me as if a piece of my heart was leaving with them, in the same plane. However, in the midst of this feeling, there was also some comprehension because I knew that there was no other option to prevent this separation. I saw the three of them walking heading to the plane with destination to Colorado; far, very far away from me and the rest of my family. During their walk to the plane, each one of those steps they gave were like laughs of joy that were leaving out with the rhythm of their steps. So, step after step were just as less and less joy, until I could not see my mom and brothers anymore and that was when I let my sadness came out accompanied with tears. That moment completely changed the emotion with which I expected Christmas. It was as if the girl who waited impatiently for Christmas had disappeared along with the laughter of joy that disappeared following the rhythm of the footsteps of my mom and brothers walking to board the plane. Christmas evening! Another lesson that this holiday taught me was to value more my mom and my dad because it was so hard to feel how life is without my parents. I say this because in Christmas day I decided to stay with my grandma, aunts, uncles and cousins from my mom s side, but my dad told me that he was going to spend this holiday with his mom and the rest of his family. • 9. Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s Art Collection The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum s art collection blends history and culture to aesthetically define a single individual: Isabella Stewart Gardner. From the Mosaic Floor: Medusa of the inner courtyard, to The Coronation of Hebe (Paolo Veronese) on the ceiling of the third floor Veronese Room, Gardner determined every inch of both the interior and exterior of the structure housing her personal collection of masterpieces. This museum was specifically designed to resemble a 15th century Venetian palazzo, inspired from the city that captured Gardner s heart and ultimate vision of her legacy (Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum). Assisted by Renaissance revival architect, Willard T. Sears, the palazzo like structure was realized in its full glory, albeit Renaissance ornamentation had no logical place in early 20th century Boston, Massachusetts. However, Isabella Stewart Gardners fascination with the Renaissance was not solely because the works and buildings were visually pleasing. A palazzo, for a wealthy family, was a lasting symbol of status. Gardner s choice to create a museum inspired by this Renaissance structure demonstrates how this Renaissance mindset can be translated into her modern context when crafting her own legacy. The exterior of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is drastically more modest than the interior. In the same fashion as the traditional palazzos of the Renaissance, the masonry is smooth and understated. The flat roof resembles that of the Palazzo ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The simple answer to this question is no. However, many situations, history, and aspects, acts and laws, need to be taken into consideration to have a full understanding of what the government has done and has not done to help the indigenous people in Canada. It must also be noted that many of the things the government implemented to help, actually backfired and caused more harm than good. The Indian Act was established to ensure that First Nations individuals received protection and certain consideration under Canadian laws (White, 84). This document gave protection to the people from the tyrant King and placed no man above the law, not even the king. Unfortunately, the document failed with civil war ensuing months later. King John was excommunicated from the church in 1209 for seizing church property and selling it back to the church at a profit. He then used these funds to build an English Navy to invade Ireland in 1210. He then furthered his exhibition to invade Poitou, France and after a humiliating defeat to France, King John headed back to England to rebuild his reserves and his ... After the failed attempt to infiltrate Northampton castle, the people of London opened their gate to let them in. Thus, leading to the signing of the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta is typical of the era because, people were tired of being oppressed by a tyrant. This is evident in a writing by Matthew Paris, Foul as it is, hell itself is made fouler by the presence of King John. The writing is also specific to its time, the document was written in Old English. The subject of the document was a series of clauses to ensure that not even the king was above the law. This work was considerably unusual for its time, because the king had always been the Judge and the Jury. The people were his subjects and the people were subjected to his rulings. Today I will be analysing the moral issues and moral dilemmas in non literary texts, so that we can understand and evaluate how test structures, language and visual features can be used to influence an audience response. An exemplar of many moral and ethical dilemmas is shown through popular sport inspiring movie, Remember The Titans (Yakin, 2000) directed by Boaz Yakin. Yakins has a gift for dealing with controversial human issues, by facing the characters with racism, peer pressure and selfishness. This scene was very effective and coincided with the use of close up camera shots to enhance Gerry s emotions, whilst reinforcing Yakin s message that black people were treated poorly and erratically. After Gerry s disastrous car accident, Coach Boone is faced with the moral dilemma of selfishness. Boone has always been a coach who strives to win, not only for himself, but for the team, however after the accident, he lacks empathy for the boys and thinks more about what he wants. When he suggests that the team incorporate more training to cope with the changes so that they can win, Yoast feels that Boone is being selfish and lacking consideration of the team s loss, so confronts him with the questions Is this even about football anymore? Main Problems Ryanair s growth rate is affected by macroeconomic factors such as the recession, as seen in 2010 when Ryanair saw a 200% increase in profit and traffic growth, as the low fares became attractive for those suffering from the current climate. Uncertainty still remains regarding the economic climate; problems would arise if it continued, as passengers would reduce spending restricting the company s passenger volume growth. If the economic climate was to grow, business and leisure passengers may choose to pay more and travel with a full service airline, this could consequently result in demand for low cost flights to drop. One of the greatest concerns is fuel prices the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If it were to be successful Ryanair would have to change their strategy, as it would not be able to keep low costs, as passenger on long haul flights would want the additional add ons at no extra price. This would result in increased price and pose a challenge for Ryanair to maintain cost leadership. Possible Solutions Ryanair should expand in the EU, by increasing flight frequency and flights expansion especially in Eastern Europe. One way they can do this is to purchase WizzAir, an airline that already has major bases and routes in Eastern Europe. This would gain an advantage over competitors such as easy jet who currently have no bases there, thereby maintaining cost leadership. Strategic alliances should be put in place so Ryanair can achieve an extensive geographic network, with bases placed strategically around Europe airports. By consolidating with Norwegian airlines and creating a strategic partnership, with a percentage in each other s shares would allow for greater scope and assurance from the unpredictable economic conditions. Swift market responses need to be made by Ryanair, such as capitalising on the failure of other European airline by opening new routes on their existing failed ones, this will achieve greater economics of scale and thus costs fall. The United States Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission rarely enforced the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, enacted in 1977, until 2010 over a decade since its modern reform in 1998. This surge in penalization of unethical acts such as bribery and other methods used to ensure foreign business ventures has been called a new era of FCPA enforcement by the DOJ, resulting in $1.8 billion in payments accrued from domestic firms and their foreign partners, compared to $300,000 in 2000 (Kohler). Because of ambiguity within the legislation, especially the undefined terms foreign official and obtain or retain business, the U.S. government is able to manipulate the FCPA for monetary gain, as well as shape foreign economies based upon their own values. The FCPA was composed with good intentions: to end corrupt trade and to create a more even playing field for American businesses. With that goal in mind, the Act is seemingly viewed as a normative standard to promote fairness, asserting that transparency and accountability are essential to building an honest and open global society. However the unclear articulation of the texts have developed inconsistencies in the way the FPCA is enforced, allowing organizations such as the SEC to utilize its broadness to target businesses, namely through the agencies interpretation of who a foreign official is and what it means to obtain or retain business. Effect Of Solute On The Production Of Magnesium Alloys Effect of solute addition on grain refinement in cast magnesium alloys. 1.Introduction: Magnesium is 30% lighter than aluminum and possesses excellent mechanical properties. It has higher weight to strength ratio, damping capacity, dimensional stability, impact and dent resistance when compared to aluminum alloys or steel alloys. These properties have increased the usage of magnesium alloys in the automotive and aerospace industry for weight reduction. But magnesium alloys are often associated with some limitations such as low ductility, lower strength, poor workability (due to hexagonal lattice structure), lower creep resistance and lower corrosion resistance. Inoculation is referred to the addition of grain refiners or solute elements to restrict grain growth and promote heterogeneous nucleation. It is observed that adding 0.15 wt.% zirconium during inoculation of pure magnesium leads to reduction of 80% of the grain growth [1 21]. However if zirconium is added to the alloys having aluminum, it formed intermetallic phases with aluminum and loses its grain refining properties. For the younger generation, car usership is gradually replacing the need of car ownership. However, for example, when relying on car sharing solutions, users often spontaneously drive cars they are not used to. Results are increased stress and a higher risk of accidents. For that reason, we present a mobile application based training solution for vehicular user interfaces. The evaluation of the training application has shown that a short training cannot counteract the negative influence of operating comfort car functions while driving. The use of game design elements in the application in creased the training motivation, but also lowered the information reception. The ongoing urbanization is changing the shape of mobility in tomorrow s cities. Especially in large and congested cities, the need of owning a car is gradually decreasing with the rise of new intermodal door to door mobility solutions. In a recent survey by KPMG 1 , only 46 % of younger consumers ( 25 years) rated that owning a car is extremely or very important for them, opposed to 76 % for 25 to 35 years and 78 % for 35 to 50 years old consumers. • 22. Analysis Of Happiness Is A Warm Gun Fast forward three years and it is easy to see what dramatic change came about in The Beatles style. In 1968 The Beatles released their White Album. This album took them into a transcendental era of the psychedelic movement, where drug fueled experimentation with heavy beats and intense topics became the focus of their music. Happiness Is A Warm Gun is a musical masterpiece that combined The Beatles new found music style, edgy, risky lyrics, and an underlying undertone that many viewed as inappropriate for the public audience. The song opens musically with only a guitar playing a riff behind the vocals. The song sounds to be in C major, but the opening sounds to be in a minor key. This song seems like it is three different songs woven together through intense beats and time signature changes. The beginning is 4/4 but changes to 3/4 and 2/4 throughout the songs entirety. If I separated the song into three parts, different tempos and instruments can be heard. In the beginning, only a guitar plays, followed by drums and short chord strikes to create a chopping noise. The second part, characterized by the tempo change and an intense guitar solo, adds a new percussion sound through the slashing of cymbals and deliberate pedal stomps. The third part shows another signature change back to 4/4 and a milder use of the cymbal, while still maintaining the chord chops. The riff from the introduction is maintained throughout the whole song. A syncopated melody can be heard ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Cognitive Theories Of Cognitive Behavioral Theories Cognitive behavioral theories theorize that human behavior is caused by internal or mental events, and in addition to external events proposed by behavioral theories. Research suggests that cognitive behavioral theories have shifted their focus, as seen in the first, second, and third waves of the theories. For example, initially the focus of cognitive theories was on identifying and changing maladaptive thoughts. However, recent models of cognitive theories seek to help people evaluate, and change their thoughts, beliefs, and assumptions. In addition, these newer models of cognitive behavioral theories seek to help clients understand the interactional nature of their thoughts and behaviors (Jones Butman, 2012). Conversely, at the core of cognitive behavioral theories is the assumption that human behavior is affected by cognitive activities. In addition, cognitive behavioral therapists theorize that human behavior can be monitored and altered, and also human behavior can be changed through rational change (Hersen Gross, 2008). Philosophical Assumptions Studies show that cognitive behavioral theories do not have explicit philosophical assumption. However, concepts of cognitive behavioral theory are associated with assumptions from a critical rationalism standpoint. At the core of critical rationalism is the belief that knowledge is only gained by falsifying hypotheses derived from scientific theories. Overall, knowledge is seen as objective and not subjective. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The word Zen has been used many times in the West, due to the hard work of Japanese culture; Zen Buddhism does not have a strong influence as that of the Pure Land Buddhism. Also in the school of Zen, they reject claims of scriptural authority and embrace many different practices . Zen Buddhismrests on claims to an exclusive lineage that has been passed down from teacher to disciple in a succession from Shakyamuni , or the historical Buddha , all the way to the present day. Zen Buddhism and Pure Land Buddhism are just schools of practice. The difference is mainly in practice. Buddhism, in general, does not worship what you call Gods , but their existences are acknowledged as a heavenly being of intense merits and blessings, often with the leadership of qualities of that sort. Other cases of belief, Gods may or may not be acknowledged. However, this is hardly accurate to the whole of the Buddha Dharma. Zen Buddhism is the focus of meditation to attain enlightenment. This is the practice of sitting in stillness, focusing on single mindedness and investigating Zen. Whereas, Pure Land Buddhism is the focus of reciting Amitabha. New stock is issued at last option. This hierarchical order is fundamental to the packing order theory. If a firm issue new stock at first place then pecking order theory does not hold. The pecking order theory also implies that more profitable firms naturally prefer internal financing they would finance their new projects without issuing debt or equity ... Why Is Methylmercury Wrong Karen Yang Ms. Suto MYP Chemistry 10 3rd Period 6 February 2016 Hazardous Chemical Project: Mercury Poisoning Mercury poisoning around the world spread dangerously into the waters and into foods that people ate, especially fish, creating not only health issues, but also environmental issues. Dietary exposure to methylmercury is the most common type of mercury exposure. Methylmercury is an organic form that is found in fish, contaminating them (Gerdes, 2006). Methylmercury was created when elemental mercury got into rivers, lakes, and oceans, therefore forming mercury poisoning in many types of fish. Even though fish contained many good vitamins, minerals, and protein, fish attracted methylmercury, which was extremely toxic to organ of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There would be many people who would state that mercury came naturally from the Earth, and not just from pollution. Mercury is an issue to the environment when it s released from rock and goes into the atmosphere and water, which happens naturally, for example volcanoes and forest fires (Basic Information about Mercury, 2016). Not only that, there was no stop to natural mercury appearing into the environment and affecting the fish. The American Chemical Society questioned, We have about tripled the mercury in the atmosphere, and therefore it should be tripled in the ocean, right? But maybe mercury that occurs in fish is a natural thing, and it may have been there all along (2003). The cause occurs, shown from the image to the right, how mercury was converted into monomethyl mercury that affected the fish just as similar as the factories. However, mercury poisoning in fish was still impacting the environment in a negative way, though there were different causes of it. From the American Chemical Society, Morel described that the increase of pollution did not cause the high levels of methylmercury in the fish, but instead from a natural source. He suggested that it could be from hydrothermal vents and deep ocean sediments (2003). On the other hand, the environment that humans created influenced the contamination of mercury into the waters and into fish. For example, coal fired plants were a major cause that affected the environment. Since mercury exists naturally in coal, the largest source of mercury pollution was from coal fired power plants (Main, 2009). Cement kilns, chlor alkali plants, trash incinerators, and gold mining are just some of the ways that humans influenced mercury poisoning into the environment (Main, 2009). Human activities were still the most responsible for the amount of mercury released into the environment. The mercury in the air could fall to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Analysis Of Arthur Miller s The Crucible Movie paper analysis of The crucible The circumstance brought upon a person can change them greatly. The Crucible edited and rewritten by Arthur Miller, is a movie which takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The leading actors are Daniel Day Lewis as Proctor, Winona Ryder as Abigail, Paul Scofield as Judge Danforth, Joan Allen as Elizabeth, Bruce Davison as Parris, and Rob Campbell as Hale. It was directed by Nicholas Hytner and was Based on the witch hunt which surrounded Massachusetts history. the Crucible starts with a group of young women sneaking away from their heavily repressed puritan society to engage in some daring antics for the fun of it. When they get caught in the act, they try to escape punishment by accusing others of possessing them in the name of the devil. when accusations began piling up, the accused persons devolved the blame onto others after they had confessed their sins. Things take a turn for the worst when the religious authority takes hold of the case and began setting up trials for heresy against those who were accused. In its adoption of the Salem witch hunt trial, the crucible is a grandiose film filled with powerful emotions brought on by fear, religious zealotry and passion. It is indeed hundred percent credible and can be used to teach history for generations to come. Arthur Miller uses this historical information as the basis for his movie. • 35. Pilgrim s Progress By John Bunyan 1) Pilgrim s Progress by John Bunyan is an infamous Christian allegory and wildly considered to be the first great book of the non secular English language. After the Bible, it was the most read book for centuries. Bunyan wrote it based on his largely Baptist, often Calvinist theology. This is evident in Pilgrim s Progress through the name choices of the main characters and his conversation with Ignorance regarding reaching the Celestial City. The major points which are total depravity, unconditional election, limited atonement, irresistible grace, and perseverance of saints. Total depravity states that all mean are inherently sinners, unconditional election entails that certain people were predestined to receive God s grace no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Christian tries to correct him and explain that there is only one way to the Celestial City, and his deeds do not matter. Due to the doctrines of Predestination and Total Depravity, Christian is correct under Calvinism. Since Ignorance is inherently a sinner, and not elect, he is unable to accept God s grace and enter the Celestial City by means of his own path according to the concept of Total Depravity. However, one way that Pilgrim s Progress contradicts Calvinist theory is when Christian is reading his bible at the very beginning and confesses to his family that he is worried for their safety because fire from Heaven will soon obliterate the city that they live in and he doesn t know how to save them. This is contradictory to Calvinism because Christian should inherently know that he cannot. Since God has preordained everything that will ever happen, Christian cannot save his family unless that was already been in God s plan. Pilgrim s Progress largely exemplifies Calvinist ideology throughout the text with each new character that Christian meats. Bunyan made his viewpoint very clear every everyone of his literary decisions from what the characters shall be named to how they go about their journeys. Although there are a few nuances that seem less than Calvinistic, such as Christian s worries at the beginning, for the most part it stats true to the Calvin course. 2) ... • 38. Importance Of Reading In My Life Life In Between The Pages Everybody reads. Everybody has picked up a book at least once in their life and flipped through its pages. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do they feel an indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young adulthood, reading has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me because as a child, I was very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I often turned to books to fuel my urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very young age because I read as if I was living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my joy of reading continued to flourish. The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged, and the genres broadened and the vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in my life since the very beginning and helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has influenced my personality directly, and the close relationship I hold with literature. If we are going to be reflecting on the impact literature has had on me as a person, it would make the most logical sense to rewind all the way back to the earliest point of reading in my life. Childhood. I learned to read the same way most children did, in Kindergarten. There I was taught letters and the sounds that they made, and from there, to put two sounds together to form a word. I caught on very fast, I was 5 years old when I fully started ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. How Do Cats And Mice Become Enemies Have you ever wondered why cats and rats are enemies? Well, after reading two legends, I finally understand somewhat of why they aren t the best of friends. You can never trust someone, no matter how close you think you are. Cat would never have thought that the rodent would betray her. And so, in this essay it will show you the similarities and differences of the two legends I read. Those two legends are called, Catand Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac and How cats and mice became enemies. I would first like to explain to you some of the similarities. The first similarity is that both of the rodents bribed the cat with fish. It s like they had a plan all along, and they knew that she would be lured into the plan if there was fish involved. Another similarity in the two legends, is that they both travelled across a wide river. In the legend, Cat and Rat: The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac, they had to travel across a river in the race they had. And in How cats and mice became enemies, they were traveling across a river to get to a village. And the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first difference is kind obvious. But it s just that both the rodents are different kinds, ones a mouse and the other is a rat. Also in one story, the cat and rat rode on a buffalo. In the other story though, the cat and mouse rode in a hollowed out pumpkin. Another difference between the two legends is the number of characters. In the enemy story there s only 2 characters; the cat and the mouse. But in the other story, there was probably just a little over 12 characters. So that was a big difference. The third difference is that one of the rodents did something to the cat on purpose, while the other rodent did it on accident. The rat purposely did what he did to the cat. But the mouse was just misunderstood and didn t mean to do what he did to the cat. This paragraph has the just a few of the many differences between the two legends I ... • 43. Personal Reflection For Personal Assignment The purpose behind this assignment from my own understanding is for a couple of reasons. One of them is to help improve and practice report writings/responses, while another reason is to express what we believe our strengths and weaknesses will be in this chosen career path. This assignment is beneficial because it will prepare us for future writing assignments in the program, and betterunderstand how we will be graded. It will also help us reflect on what skills we think we can bring to the table, along with weaknesses we can improve on. It will be a useful assignment to reflect on my own personal strengths, and will be a beneficial tool to my success in this program. This career choice (specifically EMS dispatching) is something I m hoping I could be exceptional at because of my experience working as an EMT. I attended PMA in 2014 where I learned a variety of useful skills from great instructors that could easily crossover to dispatching. I then mastered these skills out on the field, working hand in hand with Emergency Services! I like to think with this experience I can bring quick decision making skills to the table; as well as limited medical knowledge for certain situations when necessary. I have experience in triaging, and can handle stressful situations exceptionally well while staying emotionally detached. In fact, nothing was more thrilling to me then heading to a call full lights and sirens! There s no better feeling than conquering those tough decisions, and knowing you ve done all you can to help someone. I also bring excellent communication skills to the table due to my large personality and theatre experience in high school. When I say large personality, I don t mean it in an obnoxious way. It s more so in a personable way, where I love talking to people and am outgoing. It s helpful to have when your trying to keep someone on the phone during a tough call, or when you need to keep a person calm in a stressful situation. It s important to be able to talk to people without being shy or nervous, and having them feel like they can trust and rely on you. This is also an important skill to have when you work alongside other coworkers, you need to be able to speak up and get along with your peers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
